WHILE DRIVING ON 101 NORTH PASSING THROUGH SANTA ROSA, CA ON MAY 29, 2017 GOING THE HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT OF 65MPH, MY 2013 NISSAN ROGUE WAS STRUGGLING TO GET UP A SMALL INCLINE WHEN THE MPH SUDDENLY DROPPED TO 30 AND I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO GO ANY FASTER. THE ROAD WAS PACKED WITH CARS AS IT WAS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I HAD 3 CHILDREN IN MY CAR. WE BARELY MADE IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY WENT DEAD. IT WAS ABSOLUTE SHEER LUCK THAT THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. CARS WERE SWERVING ALL AROUND ME TO AVOID HITTING ME. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE AND HAD TO CROSS OVER 2 OTHER LANES (GOING 30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY) TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS 85,000 MILES ON IT. MY DEALER SAID "THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM IS COMMON" WITH THIS MODEL. I GOOGLED "2013 ROGUE CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS" AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS: THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO HAPPEN ON SURFACE ROADS. THIS IS VERY, VERY DANGEROUS. THE COMPANY WAS BESIEGED WITH CVT COMPLAINTS AND FIXED THEIR 2010 AND 2011 MODELS, BUT THIS PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING WITH ALL SUBSEQUENT ROGUE MODELS. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS.
WHILE ON MY WAY BACK TO LOUISIANA FROM MY VACATION IN FLORIDA DRIVING WEST BOUND ON INTERSTATE 10. MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER GOING UP AN INCLINE ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED DOWN THE DECLINE. I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE TO A GAS STATION AND CHECKED MY VEHICLE FOR LEAKAGE AND FOUND NONE. I CHECKED ALL FLUID LEVELS THE WAY THE MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTS YOU TO AND ALL LEVELS WERE IN OPERATING RANGE. I RETURNED TO THE INTERSTATE AND THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS BOXED IN BY 18 WHEELERS AND ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE. I STARTED CHECKING INTERNET TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND FOUND OUT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO IS HAVING THESE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR NISSAN. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN RIGHT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO EXCELERATE THE CAR STALLED AND IT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. IT STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY BUT IT SCARED ME. IT WASN'T THAT HOT. IT WAS AROUND 10:00 PM IN LAS VEGAS AT THE END OF MAY 2017. IT HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE THAT BUT I DON'T REMEMBER THE DATE.
I HAD STOPPED BRIEFLY TO PAY A TOLL AND WHEN I WAS READY TO DRIVE THE CAR HESITATED AND THE RPM WENT TO 4 AND IT STARTED TO GO SLOWLY THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE SLOWLY TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP AND THE CODES THAT CAME UP WERE P0744 AND P1740. HAD TO TOW MY VEHICLE HOME AT THE COST OF $360.
THE CVT (VARIABLE TRANSMISSION) IS LOSING POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS SUDDENLY UNABLE TO GO ANY FASTER. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO "SAFE MODE" DUE TO OVERHEATING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY NISSAN AS THEY GAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS SAME ISSUE TO ALL 2008 TO 2010 ROGUE OWNERS. HOWEVER THEY NO LONGER PROVIDE THIS AND INSTEAD THEIR FIX IS TO CHARGE FOR A DIFFERENT TRANS OIL COOLER FOR THIS 2013 MODEL. IF THE CVT IS STILL HAVING ISSUES THE FIX SHOULD BE COVERED BY NISSAN NOT ME.
WHILE THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE PER SAY, IF WE CAN'T GET YOU TO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE THEN WHO CAN WE TURN TO? A QUICK ONLINE SEARCH OF "2013 NISSAN ROGUE PAINT PROBLEMS" WILL REVEAL A NUMBER OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS RELATED TO JUST ONE COLOR OF THE CAR, PEARL WHITE. I TOO AM HAVING THIS ISSUE NOW AND IT SEEMS UNREASONABLE TO ME THAT NISSAN HASN'T ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ISSUE FIXED, SOME HAVE NOT. THE DIFFERENCE BEING THEIR WILLINGNESS TO FIGHT FOR IT. AS CONSUMERS, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO "FIGHT" FOR AN APPARENT MANUFACTURER DEFECT TO BE RESOLVED. PAINT CHIPPING IN LARGE PIECES THE WAY IT IS, IS A LOT MORE THAN AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS NOT HARD TO SEE THAT PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. IMPROPER PAINT LEADS TO RUST AND RUST LEADS TO BIGGER PROBLEMS. WON'T YOU BE A VOICE FOR US AND HELP US GET THIS RESOLVED? THANKS!
CVT TRANSMISSION FAILS DURING ACCELERATION AT INTERSECTIONS; TRANSMISSION FAILS WHEN GOING UPHILL AND STARTS RAPIDLY DE-ACCELERATING PUTTING VEHICLE AT RISK OF BEING REAR-ENDED; EVEN ON LEVEL HIGHWAY, NISSAN ROGUE WILL START LOSING ACCELERATION PUTTING VEHICLE AT RISK OF ACCIDENT AND INJURY/DEATH TO PASSENGERS. TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE AND UNRELIABLE.
VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY - VERY DANGEROUS.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 75 ON A TRIP. CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED WHINING AND NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED ON THE GAS CAR WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED. VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE 80,000 MILES. REPAIR TECHNICIAN SAID HE HAS SEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VALVE BODY OVER HEATING AND CVT TRANSMISSION COOLANT MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AND HAD A CASE OPENED. CLAIM WAS DENIED SAYING THEY HAVE NO RECALLS OR PROBLEMS WITH CVT OF THE ROGUE VEHICLE. DRIVING ANYWHERE ESPECIALLY ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE WITH THIS ISSUE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
CAR LOSES ACCELERATION ON WARM DAYS AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 30 MINUTES PLUS. PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE ONLY CAUSES RPM'S TO INCREASE BUT THE MPH OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT. AFTER PULLING THE VEHICLE OVER AND GIVEN A CHANCE TO COOL DOWN, NORMAL OPERATIONS RESUME UNTIL THE FLUIDS IN THE CVT DRIVE HEATER UP AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF YOU ARE IN A BAD POSITION ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEED TO ACCELERATE FOR SOME REASON ANC CANNOT, THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

IN APRIL OF 2017 WHILE DRIVING THER WA A METAL ON METAL SOUND COMING FROM UNDERNETH THE CAR WHILE STEPPING OR ACCERLATING ON THE GAS. AFTER TAKING TO MY MECHANIC I WAS ADVISE THAT I NEEDED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT NOTIFICATION. I RECIEVED A LETTER IN NOVEMBER 2017 FROM NISSAN STATING THAT THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION VAPOR TUBE MAY DEVELOP A CLOG. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY MECHANIC HE STATED I SHOULD FILED A CLAIM WHICH I DID . NISSAN STATED THAT MY NEW CATALYIC CONVERTER HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY EMMISSIONS. I REFILED MY CLIAM AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC WROTE A NARRATIVE I THEN RECIEVE AN E-MAIL FROM NISSAN STATING THAT AFTER REVIEWING MY VEHICLE INDENTIFICATION NUMBER, THERE IS NO EVAPORATIVE VENT TUBE WARRANTY EXTENSION RELATED TO THE VIN AND THOSE WOULD BE THE REASONS WHY THE REQUEST WOULD BE DEINED.

THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOWAY NISSAN (9920 E ADAMO DR, TAMPA, FL 33619) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ADVISED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON COLORADO MOUNTAIN PASSES, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS PUT ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION WITH THE OTHER TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD GOING 55MPH AND MY CAR NOT GOING FASTER THAN 20MPH. I TOOK IT TO WOODMEN NISSAN IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO WHERE I WAS TOLD THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN, AND IT NEEDED REPLACED. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTRA INSURANCE PLAN FOR REPAIRS WITH THE CAR IN APRIL OF 2015, THE CAR HAD 29,000 WHEN PURCHASED FROM MODERN CLASSIC MOTORS IN GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO. I USED THIS INSURANCE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED BY WOODMEN NISSAN IN APRIL 2017.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UPON TURNING OFF OR RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO STEERING LOCK FUNCTION. THE DEALER (MODERN NISSAN OF WINSTON SALEM, 5795 UNIVERSITY PKWY, WINSTON-SALEM, NC 27105, (336) 767-8260) INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO STEERING LOCK FUNCTION; THEREFORE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
A LITTLE OVER 2 MONTHS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A LIGHT ON THE DASH BROAD SO I BOUGHT IT IN TO BE SERVICED ONLY TO FIND OUT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG CLUTCH. AS LONG AS THE MOTOR WAS RUNNING THE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON.
WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON CRUISE CONTROL AND IT KEEP TURN OFF. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE NO MATTER WHAT!!! AND THAT'S WHEN THE CARS BEHIND ME START HONKING, CUSSING ME BUT THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO

AT AROUND 56,000 MILES THE ENGINE WOULD REV ON ITS OWN WHEN ID GO UP HILL THEN NO PROBLEMS UNTIL 6 MTHS AGO WHERE @ 66,000 MILES THE CAR WOULD DESPERATE ON ITS OWN FROM 70MPH TO 55 THEN 25 ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY HAZARDS ON. I WOULD THEN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD TAKE 10 SECONDS TO GET TO 50MPH. THE CAR HAS NO POWER IT SEEMS LIKE.
TRANSMISSION "SLIPS ? " DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING.THE VEHICLE SLOWS DRASTICALLY AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING A RISK OF GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. THE OVERHEATING WOULD PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING OVER 45 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE EAST NISSAN CHAMPAN HIGHWAY DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 27801526. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY GOING ~50 MPH. WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE ACCELERATER DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME TENSION. THEN ALL LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH (CHECK ENGINE, OIL, BATTERY ETC) THEN THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE CAR OFF, BACK ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON, BUT NOT ACTIVE AS I WAS MERGING, AND SPORT MODE WAS ON. SINCE THE INCIDENT WHEN ON CRUISE CONTROL I WILL FEEL THE TRANSMISSION 'SLIP' FROM TIME TO TIME AS WELL. HOWEVER I COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE OF THE CAR STALLING.I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IF I COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO EITHER. IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND HOPEFULLY THIS CAN GET RESOLVED.
FRONT BELTS RETRACTORS ARE LOCKED, NOT ALLOWING TO ADJUST BELTS HIGH.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO NEUTRAL, DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, AND LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V032000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED UNTIL AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHEN THE CAR WARMS UP THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40MPH OR CLIMB SMALL HILLS GREATER THAN 40 MPH. VEHICLE WILL ACT NORMALLY BUT WHEN YOU GET OFF THE FREEWAY, IT LOSES POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. BIG SAFETY ISSUE WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND YOU NEED SPEED TO PASS OR EVEN KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. FOUND ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR SAFETY CONCERNS
2013 NISSAN ROUGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND CAUSES VEHICLE TO DECELERATE WHILE IN MOTION. DEALERSHIP ADVISED AN ADDITIONAL COOLANT WAS NECESSARY TO CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO ZERO.
THE VEHICLE IDLES AND VIBRATES CONSTANTLY WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS USED. MY WHEEL MAY NOT VIBRATE 10 MINUTES OUT OF A HALF HOUR DRIVE. IT EITHER BARELY WILL TAKE OFF FROM START OR IT COMPLETELY FLOORS IT AND EXCELS. FEELS LIKE A DIESEL RUGGED VEHICLE AND NOT A SMOOTH NORMAL RIDE LIKE ANY CAR OR SUV SHOULD RIDE. I COMPLAINED THE DAY IT WAS PURCHASED AND HAVE HATED IT EVER SINCE.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS CLOSED FROM THE OUTSIDE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP. WHEN THE DOOR LATCHED ALL SIDE AIRBAGS (CURTAIN AND IN SEAT) DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO COLLISION. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, WHICH APPEARED TO BE A "DOOR DING" THAT HAD OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 8 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT INVOLVING THE AIRBAGS. IT WAS PURELY COSMETIC NO REPAIR WAS SOUGHT. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER AFTER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.

HAS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC WHERE I HAVE HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING TO SLOW LANE. I BELIEVE IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD. CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. CALLED NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTS THAT I TURN MY CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT BECAUSE IT'S OVERHEATING DUE TO GA WEATHER. NOW, IT IS HOT, BUT THERE ARE MILLIONS OF CARS IN GA THAT DON'T HAVE TO SIT EVERY HOUR YOU'RE ON THE ROAD. HE SAID AFTER THEN, TO JUST DRIVE ON THE HWY AT ABOUT 60MPH. SIR THIS IS THE INTERSTATE. AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR 30 MINUTES, WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE A SPEED OF NO MORE THAN 25 MPH TO THE NEAREST TOWN. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A KNOW CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN AS WHERE THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS OVERHEATED CAUSING THE CAR TO GO INTO SAFE MODE. NISSAN ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THE FIX IS TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1200.00, IN WHICH WE HAVE TO PAY.
