DRIVER SIDE DOOR STOP LOCKING.
TAMARA RECALL I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY AND OR DOG WHEN THE CAR WENT FROM 50MILE A HR. TO 25 MILE A HR. WITH OUT ANY NOTICE AND THIS HAPPENED ON A ROAD WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND THERE IS NO ROOM TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP SO I WITH ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE WHERE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A WHOLE COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM THE NISSAN IS AWARE OF IT AND THEY'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE I READ ABOUT SOMEBODY ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR IN THEIR CAR DROP DOWN TO 30 MILES AN HOUR AND THEY HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK I FEEL THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS AND IT NEEDS TO BE TALKED INTO I THINK THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE A GOOD IDEA BUT THERE'S A LOT OF FLAWS AND SAFETY ISSUES WITH THEM IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL SOMEBODY GETS AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEIR CVT FAILED AND I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO ME OR MY FAMILY OR ANYBODY ELSE IN THEIR FAMILY!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE REGAINED SPEED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO UNKNOWN DEALERS TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO LOCATED FAILURE CODES AT THE ALTERNATOR AND CENTRAL DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WITH AROUND 60K MILES I NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING EXTENDED DISTANCES, MY NISSAN ROGUE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME ACCELERATE PASS 65MPH. I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE SO I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT EVALUATED AND SEE IF ANY COMPUTER CODES POPPED UP. NOTHING CAME UP. THIS ISSUE KEPT GOING ON SO I TOOK IT BACK A YEAR LATER AROUND 79K MILES AND SUDDENLY SOME CODES APPEARED FOR CVT ISSUES. THEY SAID I WOULD NEED AN ENTIRELY NEW CVT. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS WITH NISSAN AND HAVE FOUND NO RESOLUTION. I DON'T FEEL LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO COVER SEEING AS THOUGH THERE WAS AN EXTENDED NISSAN WARRANTY ISSUED OF 120,000 MILES/10 YEARS FOR 2010 AND EARLIER MODELS. OBVIOUSLY, THEY HAVEN'T FIXED THE ISSUES BECAUSE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. GOOGLE IT OR SEARCH NISSAN FORUMS. IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER. I AM A SINGLE MOM AND STILL HAVE OVER $16K TO PAY ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I WAS DRIVING OUT OF TOWN FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO FULL LIMP MODE ON THE INTERSTATE JEOPARDIZING OUR SAFETY. MY CAR ENDED UP BEING LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOW I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO TOW IT BACK TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHEN FINANCES ARE ALREADY TIGHT DURING THIS TIME OF THE YEAR IN A ONE INCOME HOUSEHOLD. NISSAN SEEMS UNINTERESTED IN ISSUING A NEW EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THESE VEHICLES BUT MAYBE THIS IS SOMETHING NHTSA CAN PUSH FOR. SOMEONE HAS TO LOOK OUT FOR THE CONSUMER. ANY HELP WITH THIS ISSUE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!
AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30AM, I WOKE UP TO MY VEHICLE ALARM SOUNDING. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE REMOTE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SHUT IT OFF. I WENT TO CHECK WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AS THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. FDNY WAS CALLED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE.
MY 2013 NISSAN ROGUE SUDDENLY BEGAN LOSING ACCELERATION ABILITY. THE RPM'S WOULD REV UP HIGH WITH NO INCREASE IN SPEED. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WITH THE CAR BEHIND ME HAVING TO SLAM ON BRAKES OR SWERVE TO AVOID IMPACT. EVEN MORE DANGEROUS, THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS WHEN TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC LANES. EVEN WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO TURN, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS IT BARELY CRAWLED WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC COMING QUICKLY. IF THE OTHER VEHICLES HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN OR CHANGE LANES TO AVOID MY SEEMINGLY STALLED CAR, THERE WOULD'VE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN TRAFFIC, TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES, AS WELL AS PULLING OUT ONTO HIGHWAYS & BUSY STREETS. I WAS TOO TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD KILL MY SELF & MY CHILDREN THAT I HAD TO STOP DRIVING MY NISSAN UNTIL I COULD GET ENOUGH MONEY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I AM SELF-EMPLOYED SO THIS CAUSED A MAJOR HARDSHIP. I AM CONVINCED THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION WILL CAUSE SERIOUS AND FATAL ACCIDENTS, AND PROBABLY ALREADY HAS, IF NISSAN DOES NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FLAWED TRANSMISSION.
CVT TRANSMISSION WITH 117,000 MILES. TOLD BY DEALER I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION @ A COST OF $4K FOR A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION. NISSAN EXTENDED TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES FOR '03-'10 NISSAN ROGUE MODEL YEARS BUT REFUSE TO PAY FOR OR AT LEAST PARTIALLY COVER COST TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. DEALER SAID NISSAN ROGUE CVT TRANSMISSIONS CONTINUES TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR MODEL YEARS LATER THEN 2010. NISSAN WILL ONLY WARRANTY A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES WHICH SHOWS NISSAN HAS LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN THE EXISTING DESIGN OF THEIR CVT TRANSMISSIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID A CRASH. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG, FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG, AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS ABRUPTLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE CAR HAS WENT INTO LIMP MODE SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE WITH TWO SMALL KIDS ON THE INTERSTATE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE LATEST TIME I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT OUT OF LIMP MODE AND HAD JUST EXITED THE INTERSTATE. NOW I HAVE A WONDERFUL YARD ORNAMENT ON WHICH I MAKE PAYMENTS. THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL AT SOME POINT. AFTER READING ON THE INTERNET IT IS NOT AN IISOLATED EVENT. WILL A FAMILY NEED TO DIE TO GET THIS FIXED?
I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION GETTING READY TO CROSS ONTO THE HIGHWAY, WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT FULLY ACCELERATE. WHEN I GOT OVER 40MPH, I BEGAN TO HEAR STRANGE NOISES COMING FROM MY ENGINE, LIKE A WHISTLING OR WINING SOUND. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY HEARD LIKE A SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE BEFORE, BUT THOUGHT THAT MAYBE IT WAS MY BRAKES, BECAUSE I OLD HEARD IT SOMETIMES WHEN I WOULD COME TO A STOP, OR PULL OFF. JUST LAST MONTH I PUT A NEW BATTERY IN MY VEHICLE, BUT MY CAR JUST SHUT DOWN ON ME ONE NIGHT WHILE I WAS OUT. THEN A COUPLE WEEKS LATER I NOTICE THESE NOISES I JUST REFERED TO. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN COMES ON MAYBE A WEEK OR TWO AFTER I JUST PUT A NEW BATTERY INSIDE MY CAR! AGAIN I THINK MAYBE ITS JUST SOMETHING SMALL. I ALWAYS GET REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE, SO I KNEW THAT I WAS DUE FOR A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AISO..NOT A MECHANIC, SO THINKING THAT MAYBE THAT WAS WHY MY LIGHT WAS ON. I THEN ENDED UP PAYING ABOUT $200 FOR THE FLUSH, AND MY LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I WENT TO A COUPLE DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS AND LET THEN CHECK MY LIGHT ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER BECAUSE THEY THINK ITS THE TRANSMISSION OR MAYBE THE O2 SENSOR, BUT ONLY A NISSAN DEALER CAN CONFIRM THAT!. SO I DID, ONLY TO SPEND AN EXTRA ALMOST $100 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHEN I TOLD THEM WHAT WAS SAID. SO FINAL RESULTS: I NEED TO REPLACE MY CTV TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE ONLY HAD SINCE FEB. 2016 AND STILL HAVE A LOAN OUT!!! AND FILE 2 CLAIMS WITH NISSAN, THAT TOOK TEN DAYS, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL MY THEY WILL NOT BE REIMBURSING, OR REPLACING, OR ASSISTING WITH THIS BECAUSE THEY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. HOWEVER, THEY ARE AWARE THAT THERE ARE RECALLS ON PREVIOUS MODELS OF THE SAME VEHICLE FOR THE SAME ISSUE!!!!!!!
MONDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2017, WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. BEFORE DRIVING HOME THAT EVENING I RESET IT. THE BLINKING STOPPED MOMENTARILY. I THEN SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT (10.19.17) WITH ACTION NISSAN HERE IS NASHVILLE, TN WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN AIRBAG SPRING MALFUNCTION WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE AIRBAG TO PROPERLY DEPLOY.
DRIVING MY ROGUE AT 45MPH ON 10/13/2017. DECELERATED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THEN ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AFTER THE TURN. THE ROGUE JERKED AND DECELERATED AND TURNED OFF. I STEERED THE CAR TO THE SOFT SHOULDER. ATTEMPTED TO START ROGUE. STARTED BUT THEN STALLED. IT EVENTUALLY STARTED AFTER SITTING BY ROAD FOR 5 MINUTES. NO PROBLEMS WITH ROGUE UNTIL 10/20/2017. WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH WITH A SEMI BEHIND ME ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY. THE ROGUE STARTS TO DECELERATE AND JERKING. I PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN ENOUGH TIME NOT TO BE HIT BY THE SEMI. ROGUE TOTALLY STOPPED WORKING. I GOT IT RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME AT 40 MPH. CALLED AND GOT A REPAIR APPOINTMENT ON 10/24/17. IT WAS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR THAT WAS BROKEN.
HALF WAY INTO A 4 HOUR TRIP HOME FROM THE BEACH, ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, OUR 2013 NISSAN ROGUE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THE TEMPERATURE THIS DAY WAS PROBABLY AROUND 85 DEGREES. WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 70-75 MPH. WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 60 MPH, AND WOULD START TO DECELERATE EVEN FURTHER GOING UP HILLS. WE DECIDED TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP, WHILE TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR. WE WERE AFRAID WE WOULD BE HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEFORE WE COULD GET PULLED OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. WE PULLED INTO A TRAVEL PLAZA, FILLED THE CAR WITH GAS, AND GOT LUNCH. TWENTY MINUTES LATER WE STARTED UP THE CAR AND IT APPEARED TO ACT NORMALLY, SO WE DECIDED TO CONTINUE WITH OUR TRIP. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS AGO AND IT HASN'T HAPPENED SINCE. THERE IS A LOUD WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE THAT APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING ON A LARGE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
CVT TRANSMISSION. ONE OWNER COMEPLETES ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE CAR MAKES A WHINING NOISE, LOSES POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS CAUSED SEMIS TO GRID LOCK I MOVED OFF ROAD TO AVOID GETTING HIT AND CAUSING A MULTI CAR PILE UP. I LOOK UP AND SEE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE BY THE 100'S AND SADLY NISSAN ISN'T WILLING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH THE CVT ON LATER MODELS BUT EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON PREVIOUS MODELS WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION.
THERE IS A KNOWN DEFAULT WITH THE YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE I OWN, YET NISSAN HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT COULD RESULT IN DEATH. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 1.5 HOURS OR MORE AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH OR GREATER, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS, AND CAUSES YOU TO LOSE ACCELERATION AND POWER. I LOST POWER ON THE PARKWAY, WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FROM THE RIGHT LANE, I COULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE LOSING ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE. NISSAN RECOMMENDS ADDING AN EXTERNAL PART TO THE TRANSMISSION TO COOL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, BUT THE PART IS MORE THAN $700. I WOULD THINK THAT THIS ISSUE WOULD BE VERY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE WITH THE CHRYSLER IGNITION SWITCHES. IF I AM DRIVING MY CAR 70 MPH OR MORE ON THE INTERSTATE, AND SUDDENLY LOSE POWER, I AM LIKELY GOING TO GET HIT, AND IF THE OTHER VEHICLES ARE TRAVELING 70 MPH OR MORE, THAT IS GOING TO CAUSE VERY SERIOUS INJURIES AT THE VERY LEAST. THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS KNOWN ISSUE ON NISSAN FORUMS.
I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 5 FREEWAY. LISTENING TO MUSIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN I START HEARING A WHISTLING, AND WHINING SOUND. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE RADIO SO I TURNED IT DOWN. IT'S MY CAR MAKING THAT NOISE. SO I START TO PULL OVER AND I HAVE NO POWER. IT BARELY GETS OFF THE FREEWAY WITHIN 5 MINS OF ME HEARING THE NOISE MY CAR IS SMOKING. I'M WITH MY SON. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR ANYTHING IT JUST HAPPENED. I HAVE MY OIL CHANGES ON TIME. I HAD ON THE DAY BEFORE. THEN THIS HAPPENS
OUT OF NO WHERE MY DRIVER DOOR STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE BUTTON ON THE KEY OR OPEN SWITCH INSIDE. IN ORDER TO PROPERLY LOCK OR UNLOCK MY CAR I MUST MANUALLY INSERT THE KEY . THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE. AT FIRST I THOUGH THE BATTER DIED ON THE KEY SO I REPLACED IT AND NOTHING.
"TAKATA RECALL" THIS COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL BODY VALVE AND COOLER KIT ASSY. AFTER CHECKING OTHER SITES AND TALKING WITH THE COMPANY THAT WARRANT MY CAR I DISCOVER THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE NISSAN REFUSE TO DO A RECALL. OTHER OWNER HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM OF ONE SIMILAR TO IT, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAR LOOSE POWER. I READ ON ONE OF THE INVESTIGATION SITE THAT NO COMPANY WILL WARRANT THE CVT TRANSMISSION BY NISSAN.
THE NISSAN ROGUE 2013 HAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES ON IT, AND AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH HAVE FOUND MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS A FAULTY CVT INSTALLED. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE HAZARD THEY HAVE BEEN SELLING SINCE 2008. THEIR VEHICLES ENTER "SAFE MODE" AFTER DRIVING LONGER THAN AN HOUR DUE TO TRANSMISSION FLUID OVERHEATING, AS A RESULT OF NOT HAVING A COOLER/FAN. THIS SAFE MODE CAUSES YOUR VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER IMMEDIATELY AND IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE OR EVEN HIGHLY TRAFFICKED AREAS. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REFUSE TO CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY. THIS MECHANICAL ISSUE CANNOT BE FOUND BY NISSAN CAR REPAIRSMEN BECAUSE IT IS FACTORY INSTALLED THAT WAY. PLEASE GET RECALL. I HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD BABY WHO'S LIFE IS AT STAKE
I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE AND I STARTED HAVE A NOISE WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WELL. MY TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL AND STEERING ISSUES. WHEN I BACK UP OR TURN THIS NOISE IS HAPPENING.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STARTED LOOSING POWER AT A FAST RATE CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO COAST OFF THE INTERSTATE ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL IDLING BUT WILL NOT GO FORWARD. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WILL GO AGAIN. BUT AGAIN AFTER A FEW MILES OF DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT A SPEED OF 65 TO 70 MPH THE VEHICLE AGAIN STARTS LOOSING POWER CAUSING US AGAIN TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN WE RETURN HOME I DID SOME DIGGING INTO THE HISTORY OF THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION AND FIND MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER HAVING NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOK INTO IT THEY FIND THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING CAUSING IT TO SHUT DOWN. OUR WARRANTY WILL COVER THE COST OF REPAIR BUT NISSAN REQUIRES AN COOLER TO BE PLACED ON THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE IT CAN BE COMPLETELY REPAIRED DUE TO THIS ISSUE OCCURRING IN THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION BUT THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET APPROXIMATELY $1000.00 FOR THIS COOLER TO BE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE COOLER IS AN ADDITION TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. AIR BAG WARNING SIGNAL IS ON (FLASHING) ALL THE TIME. I DON'T FEEL SAFE
I ALMOST DIED THIS WEEKEND IN MY 2013 NISSAN ROGUE!!! GOING SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH UPHILL FROM PHOENIX TO PRESCOTT ON I117 FREEWAY. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND AT AN ELEVATION OF ABOUT 3,500 FEET OUTSIDE OF A TOWN CALLED "BUMBLE BEE" MY NISSAN ROGUE WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY INDICATOR LIGHTS COMING ON, BEGINS TO GRADUALLY DECELERATE DOWN TO JUST ABOVE 40 MPH. TWO LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDERS ON EITHER SIDE...VERY DANGEROUS AND NOW I AM DOWN TO GOING A MERE 30-40 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WHERE SPEED LIMIT IS 75 MILES PER HOUR!!! ROGUE GRADUALLY SLOWS DOWN EVEN THOUGH I HAVE MY FOOT DEPRESSED FULLY ON THE GAS, PUSHING WITH ALL MY WEIGHT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD. SEMI TRUCK IS COMING UP VERY QUICKLY BEHIND ME AND DIDN'T ANTICIPATE ME SLOWING DOWN ESPECIALLY SINCE MY BRAKE WAS NOT DEPRESSED AND ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. SEMI TRUCK LITERALLY HAD TO GEAR DOWN AND SWITCH LANES SINCE HE COULD NOT SLOW DOWN IN TIME TO AVOID HITTING ME. SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME BUT THERE WAS NO WHERE I COULD GO! LITERALLY HAD TO PUT ON HAZARDS AND CONTINUE AT 40 MPH OR SO FOR NEXT 20 MILES UNTIL I COULD EXIT ONTO HIGHWAY 89, PULL OVER AND STOP. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP AND SOMEONE WILL BE FATALLY INJURED JUST AS I ALMOST WAS THIS PAST WEEKEND. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY 2013 NISSAN ROGUE AND AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CHILDREN AROUND IN IT. TOOK TO NISSAN DEALER TODAY AND APPARENTLY NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUES. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION OIL HEATING UP AND ROGUE GOING INTO A "FAIL SAFE" MODE AND DECELERATING. CVT NEEDS TO BE ADDED OR REPLACED! WHY IS THIS VEHICLE NOT BEING RECALLED!? ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE OR FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT TO ENSUE BEFORE DOING WHAT IS MORALLY AND ETHICALLY RIGHT!? SHAME ON YOU NISSAN FOR LETTING CORPORATE GREED AND PROFITS MEAN MORE TO YOU THAN SAFETY!
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 40 MPH THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS ON INTERSTATE 10 RETURNING HOME FROM HOUSTON TX ON AUGUST 17, 2017. I HAD NO PROBLEMS ON THE WAY TO HOUSTON. I HAD BEEN DOING THE SPEED LIMIT WHICH WAS BETWEEN 65 AND 75 WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. I HAVE BEEN READING UP ON THIS AND I HAVE FOUND OUT IT IS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH NISSAN'S ROUGES AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS AND THAT IT IS KNOWN ABOUT WHEN YOU GO TO THE DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THE PROBLEM.
IF YOU HAVE A SUSTAINED SPEED OF OVER 40 MPH FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE THE CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

I READ STORIES OF DRIVERS WHO WERE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND AS THEY SPED UP TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY THEIR CAR JUST CREEPS OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING VEHICLES. CHECK WITH SERVICE CENTERS AS WELL AND YOU WILL REALIZE THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH NISSANS. THE ALTIMAS, THE SENTRAS, THE ROGUES, THE PATHFINDERS. THEY HAVE MAJOR ISSUES. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND MAKE THEM SAFE. I AM UPSET OVER PAYING 3500.00 TO REPAIR THIS CAR BUT MORE UPSET THAT COMPANY IS ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE ME TO THE CLOSEST NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH BECAUSE I'M OUT OF TOWN. BUT ONCE I GET THERE THEY TELL ME MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND I NEED A NEW ONE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2013 BRAND NEW I'M THE ONLY DRIVER AND MY TRANSMISSION GOES OUT IN 2017. I STILL DON'T BELIEVE IT'S MY TRANSMISSION BUT WHO AM I TO ARGUE BUT I HAVE TO PUT UP $4,200 AND I'M STILL PAYING ON THIS VEHICLE!!! I SHOULD HAVE WENT WITH MY FIRST MIND AND GOT MY CADILLAC. PEARL WHITE PAINT IS PEELING OFF FOR NO REASON. RUST IS NOW VISIBLE ON SOME SPOTS. NORMAL USE AND I ONLY HAVE 38,500 MILES ON IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 2 YEARS AGO WHEN ONLY A QUARTER SIZE SPOT WAS VISIBLE. NOW IT IS MANY MORE AND LARGER SPOTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT LANE ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, RESTARTED IT, AND DROVE AWAY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THE SAME DAY WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAVES AUTO CLINIC IN ROCHESTER, NY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
THE 2013 NISSAN ROGUE WAS BUILT WITHOUT HAVING A COOLANT VALVE ON THE TRANSMISSION. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPM ON MY CAR WITH BEGIN GOING VERY HIGH AND THE SPEEDOMETER WILL NEVER MOVE ALL THE WHILE I AM PRESSING THE GAS DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR IS GOING ALMOST ONLY 20 OR 30 MILES PER HOUR AT THIS POINT. I AM NOT GOING UP A HILL OR GOING VERY FAST I USUALLY ONLY TRAVEL ABOUT 60 OR 65 MPH. IT MAKES A WHINING SOUND AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I DID TAKE THIS ISSUE UP WITH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID WHAT IS HAPPENING IS SINCE THERE IS NO VALVE TO KEEP THE TRANSMISSION COOL THEN IT OVERHEATS AND LOOSING ACCELERATION IS A KIND OF WAY OF "SELF-DIAGNOSING" AND ATTEMPTING TO COOL DOWN-DUE TO THERE NOT BEING A VALVE ON THE CAR DURING MANUFACTURING. I DO INDEED HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES UP TO 5 YEARS, BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT PAY FOR THE PART BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ON THE CAR WHEN IT WAS MADE. THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR PARTS TO BE PUT ON THE CAR. ON NOVEMBER 25, 2015 NISSAN PUT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN ON HOW TO PUT THE PART ON AND ARE WELL AWARE THAT ROGUES FROM 2008-2013 DO NOT HAVE THIS VALVE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE THAT MY CAR COULD LOSE ACCELERATION AT ANY POINT-AND IT HAS ON THE INTERSTATE, HIGHWAY, AND MANY OTHER PLACES. NISSAN STATES THAT THE ROGUE HAD EVERYTHING ON IT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO, BUT THEY CAN'T TELL ME HOW THEY CAN PUT A BULLETIN OUT ON HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND THEY KNOW THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED, BUT THEN WON'T PAY FOR THE ISSUE. I REALLY FEEL THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER VALVE ON IT TO KEEP IT FROM OVERHEATING. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE TO ME, A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS AND TRAVELS WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN.

WHEN DRIVING IN THE SUMMER HEAT AND GOING UP A HILL OR FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN, EVEN IF YOU PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM AND AFTER THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED TO ME, I TOOK IT INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH THE 2013 ROGUES. SO AFTER LEARNING THAT, I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR ROGUES. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW THAT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT CAR. I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT HAD I KNOWN.
WHEN I START MY CAR IT MAKES A RATTLING SOUND AS IF SOMETHING IS HITTING THE GROUND. AFTER I DRIVE FOR ALMOST 45 MINS ON HIGHWAY MY CAR SPEED WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN COME DOWN FROM 70 MPH TO 20 MPH AND THEN IT WONT ACCELERATE EVEN. I WAS ABOUT TO BE HIT BY A TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT SOMEHOW I MANAGED TO MOVE THE CAR IN THE BUFFER. I STOOD THERE FOR 20 - 30 MINS AND DROVE AGAIN, IT WAS SOMEHOW MOVING. ALSO IF I AM UPHILL THE CAR WONT MOVE IT WILL TEND TO GO BACK. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE RPM WAS REACHING TILL 4 OR MORE, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. ANOTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED WAS I WAS WAITING AT A RED SIGNAL. I WAS THE FIRST ONE IN THE LINE, AS THE SIGNAL BECAME GREEN, I REMOVED MY LEGS FROM BRAKE, THE CAR WONT MOVE AT ALL. EVEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT SOMEHOW WAS ABLE TO REACH ONLY TILL THE CENTER OF THE SIGNAL WHEN THE SIGNAL CHANGED TO RED. I WAS IN A PANIC SITUATION, I SOMEHOW DRAGGED IT TO THE OTHER SIDE. ALL THIS HAPPENED ONLY WITHIN 2 WEEKS I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A NISSAN DEALER (IT WAS AN USED CAR). I TOOK IT TO THE DELAER FOR INSPECTION, THEY CHECKED MY CAR AND GAVE ME ERROR CODE P0744 (TORQUE CONVERTER) AND SAID IT CAN BE RESOLVED ONLY BY CHANGING THE COMPLETE TRANSMISSION AND WOULD COST AROUND 5400 DOLLARS. WHEN I ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T CHECK DURING SAFETY CHECK IN FIRST PLACE BEFORE SELLING THE CAR, THEY GAVE ME AN ANSWER LIKE THEY CANNOT FIND ISSUES IN CAR UNTIL ITS DRIVEN ON ROAD. NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF SAFETY CHECKS THE DEALERS PERFORM THEN. I COULD HAVE MET WITH AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS. WHEN I ASKED THEM FOR FIXING THIS THEY SAID I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A WARRANTY AND ITS MY FAULT I DIDN'T BUY A WARRANTY, AND THEY GAVE ME A CAR AS-IS. I TOLD THEM IT WAS NOT THE QUESTION ABOUT GIVING ME A CAR AS-IS, I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF SECURITY TESTING THEY DO BEFORE GIVING A CAR, WHEN THEY GAVE AS IS WHY THEY DIDN'T MENTION ABOUT SUCH ISSUES. TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER IS NEEDED TO PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION CVT OIL TO STAY COOL SO IT DOES NOT GO INTO FAIL SAFE MODE HERE IN THE TEXAS HEAT. AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS OF DRIVING IN 90 PLUS WEATHER THE VEHICLE SHUTS POWER. IT IS UNFORTUNATE TIMING WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND YOU HAVE NO POWER AND YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT GETTING HIT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT IT DOWN TO RESET THE SAFE MODE.
2013 NISSAN ROGUE...AFTER ABOUT 40 MINS OF CONSISTENT HIGHWAY DRIVING THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION POWER AND THE RPM'S JUMP INTO 5000+. THE ONLY WAY TO "CORRECT" THE ISSUE IS TO PULL THE CAR OVER, TURN IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. EXTREMELY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS! I TOOK THE CAR TO EXECUTIVE NISSAN IN CT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE CVT TRANSMISSION. EXECUTIVE SAID THE ISSUE CAN'T BE FIXED DUE TO THE PHYSICAL SET UP OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. OBVIOUSLY THE CAR IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD AND TO HAVE TO REPLACE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AFTER THAT SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND LESS THAN 100,000 MILES IS UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. THAT BEING SAID, THE MAJOR CONCERN IS THE SAFETY ISSUE IT CAUSES TO NOT ONLY MY FAMILY BUT TO THE OTHER FAMILIES ON THE ROAD AS WELL. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON-LINE IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT NISSAN HAS ISSUES WITH IT'S CVT TRANSMISSIONS, SPECIFICALLY THE ROGUE AND ALTIMA. AT ONE POINT THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS AND/OR EXTENDED WARRANTIES ISSUED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW NISSAN CAN CONTINUE TO PUT VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WITH KNOWN SAFETY ISSUES. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THEY DO NOTHING TO CORRECT THE ISSUE ONCE ITS REPORTED TO THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION. I WAS SIMPLY DISMISSED AND TOLD "THIS DECISION IS FINAL". THE REASON GIVEN TO ME WAS SIMPLY BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE FACTORY WARRANTY OF 60,000 MILES. IMAGINE IN THIS DAY AND AGE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT A MAJOR VEHICLE COMPONENT LIKE A TRANSMISSION IS ONLY "GUARANTEED" FOR 60,000 MILES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY!!
THE TRANSMISSION OR POWER TRAIN FAILS AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW HOURS AND LONG DISTANCES. MY NISSAN ROGUE FAILS TO PUSH AT NORMAL DESIRE SPEED AND THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS ON BUSY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE BECOMES SLUGGISH AND IT BECOMES A DANGER TO MYSELF AND TRAFFIC. I HAVE SPOKEN TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO HELP BECAUSE MY CAR HAS NO MORE WARRANTY AND IT HAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I NOTICED PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT AND I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET IT INSPECTED BUT THEY SAID THAT THEIR WAS NOT A PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR AGAIN AND I SPOKE TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS 62,000 MILES THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING SINCE THE WARRANTY IS ONLY GOOD FOR 60,000 MILES. THE CAR SEEMS NORMAL BUT IT GETS VERY SLUGGISH AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A FEW HOURS AND THAT IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU CROSS TRAFFIC.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN WHINIG LOUDLY. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER. EVEN THOUGH I WAS GIVING IT GAS, IT WAS ONLY REVING THE ENGINE HIGHER. THE AUTOMOBILE BEHIND ME ALMOST SLAMMED INTO ME AND I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS I DECELERATED BECAUSE OF THE TRANMISSION FAILURE.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The primary system affected appears to be the CVT transmission. Additionally, the engine computer (ECU) and electrical system (including battery, driver-side window, and turn signals) have shown repeated failures. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? During sudden loss of acceleration, the vehicle would not respond to the gas pedal for 10–20 seconds. This created dangerous situations when merging onto highways, crossing intersections, or making turns, as the car could not accelerate to avoid other vehicles or hazards. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Independent mechanics confirmed repeated ECU and MAF sensor failures. In February 2025, after the vehicle stalled at an intersection, multiple repairs were attempted (alternator, key reset, starter replacement), but the drivability issues persisted, confirming the problem. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics multiple times. Insurance roadside service documented over ten incidents where the vehicle would not start or stalled, including two towing events. The manufacturer has not inspected this specific vehicle. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The check engine light for the mass air flow sensor would illuminate before and during drivability issues. These warnings first appeared in 2017, the first year of ownership. Other symptoms include engine chugging, electrical irregularities (window failure, rapid turn signal flashing), and sudden loss of acceleration.
CAR LOST RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION ON THREE OCCASIONS FROM STOPPED STATUS. CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY. THIRD INCIDENT WAS WHILE TURNING LEFT THROUGH BUSY INTERSECTION ON 4+ LANE CITY STREET. CAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM THREE DAYS PRIOR TO THIRD OCCURRENCE.
THERE IS AM ACCELERATION ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. WHEN TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE RPMS WILL GO UP TO 4000 PR HIGHER AND LOSE ACCELERATION. I WENT FROM 70 MPH TO LESS THAN 30 MPH WITHIN SECONDS ON A HILL. ONCE I GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL TO WHERE I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY I TURNED THE CAR OFF. I HAD TO LEAVE IT OFF FOR AT LEAST 10 MINS BEFORE I GOT THE ACCELERATION POWER BACK. IF I TIRED BEFORE THAT IT WOULDNT ACCELERATE EVEN WITH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. I WAS TOLD IT IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND IT ONLY HAS 76000ISH MILES ON IT. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO ME NOT ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES BUT FIVE TIMES NOW ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE REACHING 60000+ MILES ON THE CAR!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ADDRESSED. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND IF I GET INTO A CRASH BECAUSE OF THIS I WILL BE SUING NISSAN FOR THIS FAULTY ISSUE!!!!

I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ROGUE THAT THE TRANSMISSION JUST DIED ON ME. THE CAR HAS 103 K MILES AND DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS DOING 70 MPH AND THE CAR SPEED DROPPED TO LESS THAN 5 MPH. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL FOR A GOOD MINUTE BUT THE CAR WON'T GO OVER 5 MPH. I FINALLY MANAGED TO SAFELY GET OUT OF THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR JUST DIED ON THE SIDE OF ROAD. TOWED THE CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPAIRED. THEY KNOW THAT OLDER MODELS WERE COVERED UNDER A NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION,BUT MY 2013 ROGUE WAS NOT COVERED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE SPEED ON THIS CAR SHOULD NOT JUST DROP FROM 70 MPH TO 5 MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, IT IS DANGEROUS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT WON'T ADMIT IT. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY OR RECALL. ON JUNE 17, 2017 WHILE DRIVING IN CALIFORNIA ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ROGUE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. THE ROGUE WAS DRIVING SMOOTHLY AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT SLOWED DOWN FROM 75-80 MPH TO 60 MPH . I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR AND EVEN TURNED ON MY OVERDRIVE BUTTON WITH NO LUCK. THIS ISSUED LASTED FOR SEVERAL MILES UNTIL IT JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED OFF AND ON FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP TO AND FROM CALIFORNIA . THERE WAS EVEN MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE THE ROGUE WOULD NOT EXCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT . I PUSHED THE GAS MEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD MOVE MORE THAN 5-10 MPH FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET UNTIL IT WORKED AGAIN. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. WE LIVE IN ARIZONA WITH EXTREME HEAT AND I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLE'S POSTS ABOUT HEAT COULD BE A PROBLEM, HOWEVER WE SEE EXTREME TEMPERATURES EVERY YEAR SINCE WE OWNED IT WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW.
THIS VEHICLE HAS WHAT HAS BEEN CALLED A CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED BY HUNDREDS OF DRIVERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY (ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM). WHILE DRIVING 80 MILES PER HOUR IN THE FAST LANE THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WENT TO 10 MILES PER HOUR IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND WE BOTH PANICKED AS WE WERE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. SHE STARTED TO MOVE TO THE SLOWER LANES, BUT HAD SEMI TRUCKS RUNNING CLOSE BEHIND US AS WELL AS OTHER VEHICLES, WE PUT ON THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND SLOWLY MADE IT ACROSS TO THE EMERGENCY LANE, BUT NOT BEFORE WE WERE ALMOST IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. WE HAD TWO SEMIS THAT CAME WITHIN A MATTER OF 1-2 FEET OF HITTING US. WE WENT FROM 80 MPH TO 5 MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS AND THEN FINALLY LOST ALL POWER COMPLETELY. WE WAITED WITH THE CAR OFF FOR ALMOST 30 MINUTES, WE STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND GOT BACK ON THE FREEWAY, WE TRAVELED ANOTHER 50 MILES AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN!! THIS TIME WE STAYED IN THE RIGHT LANE! WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES SINCE, AND HAVE HAD NEAR DEATH INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE. NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE, IT IS A CVT PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION, THEIR DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS KNOW WHAT TO DO. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS P0744 REPLACE THE VALVE BODY ON TRANSMISSION. THEY KNOW THE ISSUE, BUT WILL NOT DO A RECALL. IT COST US $1,900. THE CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. MY WIFE AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, BUT WE CAN NOT AFFORD A NEW ONE. NISSAN WILL NOT HELP OUR CAR HAS 94,443 MILES ON IT, AND IS OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THESE ISSUES REPORTED AND NISSAN TURNS THEIR HEADS WITH THIS POTENTIAL DEADLY ISSUE. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, WHEN CAR SUDDENLY REDUCED TO 50 MHP IN JACKSON MS, ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND BY 18 WHEELER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MERIDIAN MS AND THEY STATED THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND DAMAGE ARE DUE TO BOILING COOLANT. THE BOILING COOLANT IS CAUSED BY THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT CAN NOT COOL THE COOLANT LIQUID FAST ENOUGH. THIS ONLY HAPPENS IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR A VERY LONG HOURS. DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING THE CVT TRANSMISSION ($4000), NISSAN ADVICES TO ADD A SECOND EXTERNAL CVT OIL COOLER KIT ($900) TO PREVENT COOLANT LIQUID FROM BOILING AND TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AND IT'S NISSAN'S DESIGN FLAW. WARRANTY COMPANIES KNOW ABOUT IT AND THEY WILL NOT COVER FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE DESPITE OF THEIR CONTRACT SAYS TRANSMISSION IS COVERED. NISSAN OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIRS. THEY DID ADMIT IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW ON PHONE.
FAILED CVT TRANSMISSION ON A VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED LESS THAN 4 YEARS. VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT 70MPH WHEN IT BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED AND RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NELSON NISSAN (800 W QUEENS ST, BROKEN ARROW, OK 74012, (918) 258-9901) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
