The engine frequently will not change gears (has happened several times). I have to pull over; turn the engine off, then restart the car in order for the gears to properly change.
While traveling down the road in drive my vehicle failed to accelerate. I would press on the gas pedal and car wouldn’t go any faster. I had to come to a complete stop on the highway put the car in park then back in drive and then it was fine. This has happened many times and is very unsafe.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 65 MPH, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated that his daughter depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle continued to lose motive power. The contact stated that his daughter pulled over to the side of the highway and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times and was able to regain normal vehicle functionality. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and retrieved DTC code: C1210-97 (AWD systems failure); however, when the dealer rescanned the vehicle, the code was not showing on the test results. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
The forward collision system randomly turns off while driving. Even in clear conditions (I understand that rain or snow may block the sensor)
After car is in park and idle for 20+ minutes the car begins to smell like fumes. Caused bad migraines and nausea - having to exit the car and leave the doors open for 30 minutes to remove the smell.
Paint on the front bumper is chipping and bubbling up.
Nissan is aware of this issue as referenced in TSB 21-097B where the windshield and roof leak water into the vehicle causing damage to the interior of the vehicle, including soaking/staining the headliner and water running down the sides of the interior of the vehicle and potentially causing electrical and safety problems. They have been aware of this issue on 2021-2023 Rogues for several years, put out a technical service bulletin, but have not proactively fixed any of the vehicles. When this happened, my wife experience intermittent connectivity issues with the Rogue.
On or about, July 25, 2024, while standing next to vehicle, I noticed cracking of the windshield rubber (the rubber around the windshield). After further inspection, it’s along the top, where there is also rubber seals (which is now melted into the vehicle). This vehicle is 3 years old with 12,200 miles.
I was parked then backed up to proceed forward. There was a pole with a cemented base in the corner left as I accelerated I ran in to this pole. Peripherally I don’t know how I missed the pole however I do take accountability for that. What concerns me is my front collision system and forward emergency braking system failed and did not activate or message me in any way. In the past if I’ve come too close to a vehicle or object in front of me my vehicle lets me know messaging me on my screen, side mirrors and my vehicle has even braked itself. I have become reliant on this system and I no longer feel secure or safe knowing this system intermittently works. The dealership Hart Nissan now Victory Nissan I bought my 2021 Rogue from said that certain areas of the front bumper can miss objects. This is not safe and unacceptable. Additionally it is costing me a $2,000 deductible which is unaffordable on my disability income.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after receiving an oil change at an independent mechanic, the controls on the left side of the steering wheel used to enable the crash warning settings was depressed but failed to work as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,304.
Had an accident at 40 to 45 mph, Hit a curb and traffic light post caused front passenger side severely damaged and windshield shattered and none of the air bags deployed
On numerous occasions, my roof was leaking right at the A pillar. This water was getting right into the side air bag, as well as where the electronics for speakers are. The vehicle spent almost 13 weeks at the dealership and took lots of trial and error to finally find the issue. It was eventually found to be the service bulletin issue in the roof rail. My concern is silicone sealant could fail, causing this to leak again. Who knows what mold or rust issues may be hiding inside, causing structural concern over time. The fact that these vehicles have this well known issue but have not been recalled yet is concerning.
Sunroof spontaneously blew out and shattered while driving down highway.
Right when the summer started to reach 100 degree weather, the air conditioner went out on my car. It jas stopped reading the outside air temperature. Nissan I have gotten two different opinions that vary greatly in price and time. After doing some research, I have noticed this is an ongoing problem with 2021 Nissan Rogues. With Nissan being difficult to work with. Nissan states the whole compressor needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after shifting into drive(D), the gear shifter independently shifted back to park(P). Additionally, the vehicle sometimes failed to remain in park(P); because of the failure, the parking brake had to be engaged to prevent the vehicle from rolling away. The failure progressed and the vehicle had since failed to start. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.
Hello, My VIN is not included part of recall which it has for this year. It has same symtom as other vehicles where vehicle slows down while driving. "One of the most common causes for slow acceleration in Nissan Rogue is a faulty CVT valve body, which is part of the continuously variable transmission system. This can cause the car to lose power and acceleration after driving for a long time or in hot weather." Nissan Manufacturer is not willing to listen to me or test it. I need some asisstance.
These warning lights always come up-DAILY. No matter if it is hot or cold out. I am worried that they will not work if/when I actually needed them to. I am scheduling an appointment with NISSAN. Nothing has been looked at on it besides my normal oil change/check ups. I have a 7 month old and it scares me that I am not in a safe vehicle.

Roof leak causing interior stains
Lots of things of my car, I replaced battery after I bought this car just 2 years. I replaced mount engine when My car was 60k it is too early! Problem with airflow to engine that my mechanical found out the code recall and this was happening before my warranty is out! Transmission problem so fast and I also thought it was out of warranty that happened around 75k. It is terrible car that I have used!!! I never had any mail or email recall about those but how come my local mechanical found out but when I went to dealership they told me my car has not recall from dealership.
Hi Team, I own a certified 2021 Nissan and am currently experiencing a water leak at the top front corners of the windshield. The vehicle has been inspected for windshield defects and clogged drains, but no issues were found. After conducting some research online, I discovered that this issue closely resembles the one described in Technical Bulletin NTB21-097B. Which is describing this issue is happening with all 2021 manufactured vehicles. However, my vehicle’s VIN does not show any active recall associated with this bulletin. I am attaching pictures for your reference. I kindly request that you consider covering this issue under the scope of the bulletin and advise me on the next steps in the process. The panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded while on the highway. The noise was highly disturbing and almost made us crash because it was so unexpected. A glass company and insurance adjuster have looked at it and determined the whole system will have to be removed. There were no prior warnings.
I have a 2021 Nissan Rogue and have had numerous problems with it since the purchase. My current problem is that the back hatch/trunk is leaking when it rains, water is coming through. The back hatch/trunk will also open and not stay open, it begins to automatically close unless you press the button so it will not close on you. The warning lights have also began coming on again stating that driving assistance is not available. I also lose power to the display screen on the inside and it goes dark. The nissan place where I live is aware and I have an appointment on Tuesday of this month. I have asked them in the past about recalls on my vehicle and they state that my vehicle has no recalls, I have also checked the site and it states my VIN is not included in the recall even though I feel like I have had so many problems with this car. In the past, I have already had to have my alternator replaced and a new battery. This is my first experience owning a Nissan, in the past I had a toyota and in the future I will go back to a toyota. I will not own another Nissan, my experience has not been a good one with this vehicle.
Since i Financed my car is have been hearing cracking sounds when turning the steering wheel. I reached out to dealership several times and kept being told someone will contact me. Over months and several calls no help was giving. I went to dealership and made someone come out to check my car noise. They made me take it back another day to be fixed they said it was the break back plate turns out I get car back noise stated again. I called again took back again they said it was rear strut part was on backorder so had to wait weeks for part. Took it back on 9/17 as they take the old strut out another piece they claimed crumbled into pieces my car stayed overnight as they had to order part. 9/18 i get a call they fixed it test drove but still hears cracking sounds. Now they saying it's the tire rod on front drivers side where I originally stated I hear the cracking sounds. How can a 2021 rogue with 23k miles when I purchased from Nissan dealership have a bad tire rod. I've done research just now and see my nissan isn't only one. I believe this is something that should be looking into with this yr model nissan. The dealership also should of addressed this issue back when I 1st bought the car and informed them about it. Almost 7 months now driving with a bad tire rod with my family in the car.
The Navigation/Entertainment system randomly freezes in heavy traffic and screen goes blank in some instances. Hard reset by turning off car is required and works in some cases. This is a serious safety risk and could cause an accident resulting in injury or death. Nissan Corporate has been notified, initial response was that it needed to occur in front of a Nissan service center tech before they would consider fixing the system. (That is not possible when you are nowhere near a Nissan dealership, nor would you be able to navigate there with a frozen system. This problem has been reported by many Nissan owners and Nissan Corporate refuses to fix the problem There is a case opened at Franklin, Tn corporate. This event has happen 5 times in the last 8 months. While driving (under 30 miles per hr.) car suddenly seems to disengage from the engine . I no longer have acceleration and the engines RPMs increase while stepping on the gas. Stepping off the gas petal will lower the RPMs but the car slows down and eventually will stop. If I brake and reset the car in Drive, will reset and begin to accelerate. Bad thing is there is not engine warning lights or indication of when this will happen. Each episode has been when I have not been going over 30 mph luckily. I never know when this will happen, my biggest fear is the engine will disengage, I will be stuck in the middle of the road and someone will not see me and rear-end me. I have contacted the dealer (January 31, 2024) and had the car looked at but because they could not duplicate the event, they gave it back to me. Attached are pics from the service call where after giving the car back to me they left diagnostic gauges, tape and rusty screwdriver in engine. The last time it happened and I took it to the dealer, they say they test drove it but on the Invoice the mileage remained the same from the Mileage in and out. Hmmm...Did they really test drive it?!!! Or are they just sick of me bringing it to them. Bought the 2021 Nissan Rogue on November 21, 2021 and currently (as of 6/3/24) only have 16315 miles. I am afraid, I have bought a Lemon.
On around [XXX] around 9-10 pm. I hear a muffled explosion. It even vibrated our house. It scared me and our two dogs. On [XXX] we ran errands in my vehicle. We get home. I open her hatch to get stuff out. I hear broken glass sound. I look up to see her rear window completely shattered. With two holes. One in the same area on either side. The glass actually blew outwards!! I called my local Nissan in Greeneville, TN. They told me to bring it in on on [XXX]. Before taking it in. I googled our issue. Low and behold NUMEROUS 2021 Nissan Rogue owners on a Nissan Forum has had the same issue! Nissan denies that there's been any issues have they had to replace any rear windows due to this. On a Nissan Forum other customers have been denied as well! A company that makes BILLIONS won't accept responsibility. I know one thing. We'll never buy another Nissan for sure. As we had to pay out of pocket almost $500 to have it replaced. Nissan denied ours as I had to tape it all up. Otherwise it would've fallen out into the road. Roughly 2 dozen or more customers can't be lying nor be wrong. Please help us. As I'm pretty sure it's a bad batch of glass. If it were anything else there'd probably be more. Side view mirrors vibrate to the point of distortion making it harder to see vehicles. The problem is in the pedestal mount attached the doors which act like a tuning fork and need to be updated to wider base pedestals to mitigate vibration like other vehicles that have door mounted mirrors. Please help its very dangerous.
My car only has 33,000 on it. It has had to jumped 3 x’s in 3 weeks and twice while driving the car lost power and once at trong mph on a highway with a child in the rear seat, it lost power, I was thankfully able to get over to the side of the road just missed being hit by an 18 wheeler. Nissan has refused to cover the diagnostic test and a new battery and has stated they are not “100% sure it is the battery.” They are charging me close to $500. The diagnostic, battery and labor.
Roof rails are leaking onto A pillar curtain air bags and causing headliner to become saturated above the A pillers on both sides of the car. Water is also getting onto electrical lighting in vanity mirrors. Found a TSB on this, but also found there is a massive problem with this and it should be a recall. Multiple people who own rogues from this year are having this issue. Water could cause damage to airbags, mold in headliner, and electrical issues with upper roof controls and lighting. Made appointment with shop and will present the TSB when I get there.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while in reverse, the rear-view camera display was black. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion in the plug and the rear-view camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and two weeks later the failure reoccurred twice. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V772000 (Back Over Prevention) and 22V527000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Nissan had improperly installed the roof rail mounts on the 2021 Nissan Rogue causing leaks to occur into the vehicle. These leaks lead to mold accumulation on the interior and quickly becomes a health hazard. Nissan had released a Technical Services Bulletin for this issue; however, they have not yet issued a recall for this. We took our vehicle in for a mold issue and provided the TSB details to them, but they were not willing to warranty the issue as the vehicle had just dropped out of the 3-year warranty period. The estimated repair costs to resolve this issue is over $3,000 dollars and mold toxicity poisoning had occurred due to this manufacturing defect of the vehicle.
I was driving forward and following another vehicle. It slammed on the brakes suddenly causing me to hit the back of the vehicle in front of me. I am supposed to have forward collision detection and automatic braking and neither one ever engaged to avoid the crash.
The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while his wife was pulling out of the parking lot, the steering wheel suddenly pulled to the right and the front passenger's side tire became misaligned. The contact stated that the vehicle became undrivable. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the tie rod was bent and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, and a wheel alignment was performed; however, the steering wheel did not return to the center position. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair was not covered under warranty because the dealer had informed them that the failure occurred due to an impact; however, the contact stated that there was no impact. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 16,655.
Tue 10/17/23...power steering assist failed...steering locked up while exiting my driveway. Had vehicle towed to Sutherlin Nissan 8125 E. Colonial Dr. Orl FL 32817. They repaired vehicle and I picked it up Fri 10/20/23. They claimed this was an anomaly and would never happen again. Thu 10/26/23 steering kept locking up and releasing...steering light on dashboard kept going on/off. Had vehicle towed to Sutherlin Nissan. They claimed they found nothing wrong and returned vehicle to me. Tue 10/31/23 felt steering acting when parking...drove around building complex and parked several times...felt nothing. Thu 11/2/23 after making a left turn while driving steering locked up causing me to lose control and end up diagonally across middle of road narrowly missing another vehicle. driver of other vehicle came to my assistance and thought I had a medical episode and wanted to call 911. I had to fight the steering to get it out of the middle of the road. She then thought I was under the "influence". I had to have her check the steering to convince I was not. She then remarked that I should not be driving a "defective" vehicle on the road which can easily cause an accident resulting in serious injury or even death to myself and /or other motorists. Had vehicle towed to Sutherlin Nissan. Fri 11/3/23 went to Sutherlin and told them I would not be driving the said vehicle again and like to turn it in under the "Lemon Law"......they refused.....I am here wondering what should be my next course of action. I still owe the Bank and am responsible for the payments/balance.... they have possession of the vehicle.. and I am without transportation. I am suspecting that the vehicle might have some history of steering problems with a previous owner and asked them to show me the previous service history...but they refused.
Intermittent problems with the automatic transmission requiring stopping the vehicle, oft times in traffic, to restart the engine. All too often multiple restarts are required before the transmission works properly. It's a daily problem that occurs at the initial start and after coming to a traffic light. Nissan auto shops have not been able rectify the problem.
The contact owned a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while at a stop, the vehicle launched forward and shifted into reverse at high speed without any warning, causing the vehicle to rear-ended a truck behind the contact and causing damages to the rear of the vehicle. The truck had minor damages, and no one was injured. No air bags deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 11,000.
On September 1, 2023, I was headed north on I-95 in North Carolina. I was involved in a 3 car pileup where the Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning on my 2021 Nissan Rogue failed to activate. My vehicle had ADAS but almost killed my mother and me since they did not work. The car was totaled and the State Trooper wrongfully cited me for failure to reduce speed even though my foot was firmly on the brakes. The airbags were severed during impact and failed to deploy.
Strong gas smell after car has been idled or parked for more than 5 minutes or so. If I turn the car off and start it again within the hour, the fumes are worse. Car has been maintenance according to schedule and passed Multipoint Safety Check on 10/2/2023. I am concerned both about the health risk of inhaling fumes, as I drive many hours per day. I have noticed dizziness, nausea, and headaches days that I am in and out of the car more. I am also concerned about the risk of a fire ensuing due to the strong fumes. I am anxious every time I turn the car on hoping that no malfunctions occur.
Left and right rear wheel well rubber weatherstrip moldings have fallen off twice. The piece comes off at highway speeds with the mounting screw exposed. Recently, in a rain storm, the vehicle became momentarily unstable as the right side molding came off and was run over. Fortunately, the screw did not cause a tire puncture. I have noticed the weatherstrip missing on numerous Nissan Rogue's indicating that this is a common occurrence. Dealer has fixed as warranty issue both times. Reported to manufacturer as complaint.
While stopped at a stop sign I pressed the gas to go and my car began to shutter then out itself in park. I turned it off then on again as no indicators popped up but I could not drive. It would go only into neutral or park. Then, after a while my car refused to turn off. I will press the break then the start/stop button and it would shut off then turn right back on. Then, the oil life and engine light came on and on the screen it said there was a headlight system error or failure. We tried to jump the car and it still would not start. This was a car I had for 2 months, only 2 years old, and only 37,000 miles on it.
Today, 8/16/23, car had a oil change done at 32,167 mi., commented to service advisor that key needs a battery. The battery got replaced and was told that maybe the key needed to be rewired. i asked the check out receptionist how much does it cost. I was answered that its over $180 dollars.
The car just shut down while it was on and I was in it. Luckily I was at a stop. This is the second time it has happened in 6 months. It would be scary if it happened if it happened on the freeway. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
There is a strong fuel odor in the car. Very slight but strong enough to give headaches and unusual taste in one’s mouth. Very concerning
I was driving on 85 south @10:15 am it was very busy traffic and all of a sudden the vehicle starts loosing power all kinds of lights came on the panel engine malfunction also was on the panel it was so scary.I was trying to get off the highway safely the steering wheel was hard to turn.I saw2 18 wheelers & other vehicles coming l really thought I was going to die.
July 2022 while driving 70 mph on a highway in the middle lane (between tractor trailers) my dash flashed “Malfunction Service Now” I went to get over as the car was decelerating — the dash was lit but the gas pedal had no communication with the drive train. It was a close call bearly made it to the shoulder. Had to be towed. The dealer said the ECM ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE wasn’t clipped correctly and lost communication. December 2022 while my husband was driving it happened again. Sudden with no warning as we were about to cross the inter coastal by us….glided to the last patch of grass before a bridge at night -would have left us on a dark bridge and no where to go- no doubt that for the second time our lives would have been in danger. We were told the ECM from the first incident was arching and burned out the ECM so it was replaced….repaired not fixed!, August 2023 on a side road with nothing around it happened yet again! We had to be towed for the third time and luckily were able to glide to a semi-shoulder. Left stranded, hard to find a ride as the tow truck driver couldn’t give us a ride finally found someone to get us. A two year old car, mind you that this started at 15 month ownership of this Nissan Rogue, should NOT put peoples lives in danger!!! never a warning before these events. My husband could be filing a wrongful death suit and the kids the same when we were both in the car! Not a safe vehicle and the Rogue Facebook page shows many many owners with this same issue. Something needs to be addressed before there is a death! We gave the car back to the dealer. All paperwork is in the computer system. Something needs to be done! *****Please note all the work was done by Nissan and is available in the computer. I am out of state and don’t have the papers with me. This needs to be investigated and I don’t want to wait to file this complaint******
AEB/ABS braking system lights came on. I've had prior electrical problems with this car so I assumed it was an electrical malfunction. When I took it to the Nissan dealership they told me there was a brake fluid leak in the ABS actuator. The warning lights started Friday August 4th 2023. I took it in to get diagnosed Thursday August 10th 2023. I bought my 2021 Rogue in Jan. 2023 from Carvana with no knowlege of accidents or prior issues within the first few weeks I had issues with the distance sensor which Nissan recplaced. I have not had any accidents with the car since I've owned it.
All headrests in the car became moldy and flaked white powder onto the seats. This car was part of the COVID issues and I was told it sat on a parking lot for approximately a year before receiving a chip. I purchased the car in the summer of 2022. In 2023 I noticed my headrests were getting a white powder on them. In the seams, front, back, and all sides. It was on every single headrest. Moldy headrests can cause many health issues. I had to contact the corporate office as no one was taking it seriously. I have now had all headrests replaced with new ones. They did not detail the interior of the car after replacement. I plan to do this myself.
I have had several issues over the course of 2 years with the what appears to be an electrical or computer problem with this vehicle. The dashboard will light up and all the warnings constantly display. It is not always the same alert. It has also happened a couple times while I was driving and I had to pull over. Today I had another issue I went to get in my car and there is beeping and flashing and lights on the dashboard, I was also unable to start my vehicle, it progressed to me not being able to unlock or lock the doors, I had to do it manually. This is not the first time this has happened, and eventually I was able to get it started, but not the time. I have also reported the issue to my dealership, but the last time I did, they said they didn't see anything when I took it and that it may be the computer and if it happens again bring it in.
