2006 NISSAN TITAN IS LEAKING AXEL FLUID AT 45,000 MILES. I'M TOLD BY OTHER TITAN OWNERS THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR AXEL. IF NOT, THE TRUCK CAN BECOME UNSTABLE WHILE DRIVING. REPAIR SHOP (WHO DOES NOT DO THIS TYPE OF WORK) STATES THAT THE REAR AXEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
FAULTY REAR AXLE SEALS ON A 2006 NISSAN TITAN COULD CAUSE REAR END FAILURE AT SPEED OR LACK OF BRAKING ABILITY OF THE REAR BRAKES. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE BOTH SIDES. CONTAMINATED BRAKES CAUSING FAILURE OF REAR BRAKES. REPLACEMENT OF SEALS AND BRAKE COMPONENTS NECESSARY FOR REPAIR. ACCIDENT AVOIDED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER A TEN SECOND WAIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND LEAK FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I HAVE TAKEN THIS AVENUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE PHONE NUMBERS THEY GAVE ME ON MY RECALL NOTICE WENT NO WHERE. IT SEEMED THE 2 NUMBERS I DID CALL WERE NO HELP SO I AM RESORTING TO THE INTERNET PROCESS THEY OFFERED. IN MY NOTIFICATION IT STATES THAT THE NISSAN TITAN/ARMADA'S - 2005-2006 MODELS - THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER FAN MOTOR HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATIONS, THAT INADEQUATE WATER DRAINAGE ALLOWS MOISTURE TO BUILD-UP LEADING TO INCREASED TEMPERATURES IN THE MOTOR WHICH IN TURN COULD CAUSE WIRING TO MELT THE INSULATION AND OTHER PLASTIC COMPONENTS AND ULTIMATELY RESULT IN A FIRE. NOW THERE SOLUTION IS TO INSTALL A SPECIAL PROTECTOR KIT TO ELIMINATE A POTENTIAL FIRE TO OCCUR. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT IF INDEED THESE HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPEC'S THEN THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED NOT MODIFIED. I WOULD HOPE THAT THEY WOULD STAND UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND DO THE RIGHT THING, AFTER ALL WE PAID A GOOD SUM OF MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES AND EXPECT THESE ITEMS WHEN THEY ARRIVE TO BE HANDLED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER, NOT BY SOME RINKY-DINKY PART INSTALLED TO GET THEM OUT OF THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS RISEN. ALL I ASK IS THAT THIS BE LOOKED INTO, I'M NOT SAYING THE PART THEY WISH AND HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED FROM MY INFORMATION ON VEHICLES ALREADY WOULDN'T SUFFICE BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. THE SPRING SHACKLES ON MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN ARE DEFECTIVE. ONE BROKE AT AROUND 25,000 MILES AND THE SECOND ONE AT AROUND 40,000 MILES. THE SPRINGS SHOT UP INTO THE BED OF MY TRUCK ON BOTH OCCASIONS DENTING THE BED AND CAUSING ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME AND HAD THE SHACKLE REPLACED AND I ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND INQUIRED IF I SHOULD HAVE THE OTHER SIDE REPLACED THEY SAID NO IT WASN'T COMMON THE SPRING SHACKLES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK, IF THEY HAD BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGHER SPEED I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ FULL, IS SLOW TO RESPOND, OR IS INACCURATE. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN THAT HAS HAD THE FUEL SENDER UNIT REPLACED TWICE. NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ON GOING PROBLEM BY THE UPDATED SERVICE BULLETIN THEY ISSUED ON FEB. 3, 2009 (REFERENCE # NTB08-091A) NOW I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND NISSAN WONT COVER THE WORK FOR A 3RD TIME. *TR
LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL FAILED AT 29,900 MILES (1.5 YEARS AGO) AND ENTIRE REAR END/AXLE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP. NOW HAVE DRIVEN 48,000 AND THE REPLACEMENT AXLE SEAL ON THE LEFT SIDE (SAME AS BEFORE) HAS STARTED LEAKING AND MUST BE REPLACED. THERE HAVE BEEN NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS TO THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN USED FOR TOWING OR ANY TYPE. REAR DIFFERENTIAL LEAKS AND CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF REAR END AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENT FROM SUDDEN STOP CAUSED BY AXLE LOCKING UP. REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ALSO LEAKS ON REAL BRAKE ROTORS AND EMERGENCY BRAKES AND COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE. SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS OF THIS SAME FAILURE CAN BE FOUND ONLINE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE (2006 NISSAN TITAN). *TR

REAR AXEL SEALS LEAK OIL ONTO THE REAR BRAKE PADS. *TR
ROUTINE INSPECTION OF REAR AXLE REVEALED AXLE SEAL LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE. LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 53675 MILES NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. NISSAN REPLACED SPACER AXLE (43070-7S200), BEARING (40210-7S210), AND SEAL (43252-7S200). AS THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OFFER A PERMANENT FIX SO WEOULD NOT BE FACED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE.
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 8000 MILES NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. NISSAN REPLACED SPACER AXLE (43070-7S200), BEARING (40210-7S210), AND SEAL (43252-7S200). TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE IS A BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE REAR LEAF SPRING. THE LEAF SPRING APPEARS TO BE FAULTY AND NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST BRACKET FAILED AND THE CONTACT BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND NO ASSISTANCE COULD BE PROVIDED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NISSAN REDESIGNED A NEW PART, WHICH THE CONTACT STATED WAS A MUCH BETTER DESIGN THAN THE ORIGINAL. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BRACKET WAS ALREADY REPAIRED. CURRENTLY, THE PASSENGER SIDE BRACKET NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000. UPDATED 6/8/09 *CN UPDATED 06/11/09.*JB
I HAVE OWNED A 2006 NISSAN TITAN SINCE MARCH 17, 2006 AND HAVE HAD A SEVERE REAR AXLE LEAK TWO TIMES IN LESS THAN 32,000 MILES. THE FIRST LEAK WAS DUE TO A FAULTY LEFT SIDE AXLE SEAL AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE LATEST LEAK, WHICH WAS COMMUNICATING DIFFERENTIAL OIL OVER THE ENTIRE UNDERBELLY OF THE TRUCK INCLUDING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FAULTY PINION SEAL WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS WILL BE A RECURRING ISSUE THAT MAY HAVE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE OR UNSAFE VEHICLE OPERATION DUE TO OIL REACHING THE BRAKE ROTORS AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN AND BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR DRIVE AXLES LEAKING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. I HAD THE FIRST PROBLEM HAPPEN AROUND NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR. MY RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE AXLE WAS LEAKING SO I REPLACED THE SEAL, SPACER, AND BEARING ON THAT ONE SIDE ONLY. NOW, MY LEFT SIDE AXLE STARTED TO LEAK AROUND APRIL. I STARTED TO NOTICE WHEN MY REAR BRAKES STARTED SMOKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE PARKED SINCE THEN AND IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE SEAL ON IT. *TR

THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, SHE FOUND THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME NOISE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE CAME APART AT THE WELD AND THE BACK OF THE LEAF SPRING PUNCHED UP THROUGH THE BED OF MY TRUCK. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND WAS NOT ACCOMPANIED BY ANY LOUD NOISE OR ANY INDICATION THAT SOMETHING HAD GONE DRASTICALLY WRONG. THIS IS A 4X4, OFF-ROAD/WORK TRUCK. THESE SHACKLES SHOULD NEVER BREAK, LET ALONE ONLY AFTER 3 WINTERS. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I ALSO FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF STRESS AND CRACKING. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND HAVEN'T HEARD ANY INFO FROM THEM EITHER. I HAVE HAD TRUCK TOWED OUT OF NISSAN DEALER AND HAVE OBTAINED SOME HEAVY-DUTY AFTERMARKET SHACKLES WHICH I PLAN TO INSTALL. *TR
TRAVELED TO SYRACUSE, NY WITH FRIEND SON SUNDAY 2-22-09. NOTICED BRAKE NOISE AND WEAK BRAKING POWER. ON RETURN TO HOME IN EVENING, HAD NEAR ACCIDENT DUE TO BAD BRAKING. TOOK TRUCK TO NISSAN DEALER 2-24-09. DEALER SAID TRUCK OUT OF WARRANTY (11,868 MILES)HAD IT REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE MORE. THE PROBLEM IS TYPICAL OF THIS TRUCK DUE TO LIGHT USE. I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WITH DANGEROUS BRAKING POWER SINCE THE TRUCK IS NEARLY NEW. I ASKED NISSAN FOR A REFUND FOR THE REPAIR OF $ 1116.77 WHICH THEY CLAIMED WAS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THEY SHOULD NOT WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE HAS A BAD ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS DEFECT IS CORRECTED. *TR

TOOK TRUCK IN FOR MAINTENANCE. AUTO CARE PROVIDER NOTIFIED ME THAT THE REAR AXLE SEAL HAS BEEN LEAKING. HAVE NOT FIXED AS OF YET BUT PLAN TO WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE REAR SHOULDER SEAT BELTS PREVENTED THE OCCUPANT FROM LEANING OR MOVING FORWARD. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE SHOULDER SEAT BELTS WERE OPERATING PROPERLY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

2006 NISSAN TITAN LE REAR END STARTED MAKING ROARING NOISE, TOOK IT TO DEALER. TURNED ROTORS,(85% ON THEM) CONTINUED TO MAKE NOISE. DROVE IT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS , IT GOT LOUDER. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER, SERVICE ADVISOR STATED GEARS, AND BEARINGS DEFECTED, REPLACED REAR END UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

I OWN A 2006 NISSAN TITAN P/U AND THROUGH THE YEARS I NOTICED SOME RUST ON MY REAR BUMPER. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECK BEFORE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IT'S FROM THE RUBBER STRIP THAT IS PLACED ON THE BUMPER AND THAT WHEN YOU STEP ON IT TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE BED IT TENDS TO MOVE AND SCRATCH THE BUMPER AND THAT IS WHY YOU HAVE RUST. I TOLD THE MANAGER I BARELY USE THE BUMPER SO HOW CAN THAT BE THE CAUSE. I ASKED IF THIS IS COVERED SINCE IT'S THE FAULT OF THE RUBBER STRIP AND THE WAY IS WAS PLACED ON THE BUMPER, AND HIS ANSWER WAS NO AND THAT THEY WOULD ONLY COVER IT IF IT WAS ROTTED THROUGH. I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BY THE TIME IT DOES ROT THROUGH MY WARRANTY WOULD BE EXPIRED. I FEEL THIS IS THE FAULT OF NISSAN FOR NOT USING THE PROPER MATERIAL OR APPLICATION, SO WHY SHOULD I PAY THE PRICE FOR THEIR MISTAKES? I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN I EXPERIENCED A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE REAR END ON MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN. IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE TOTAL AND COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY. *TR
MY VEHICLE IMPACTED ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THE REAR AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS; STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS STOPPED WORKING IN 2008, ABS LIGHT REMAINS ON, BACKUP SENSOR WENT OUT 11-17 AND MOST RECENTLY I STARTED MY VEHICLE ONE MORNING AND SPEAKERS STARTED POPPING REALLY LOUD AND IMMEDIATELY SMELLED OF BURNED WIRES AND JUST TWO DAYS LATER VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. AFTER CHARGING WORKED FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT JUST REPEATED THE SAME SITUATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS GAVE ME SO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS STARTING A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE. ALSO NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE A FRAMES WELDED JOINTS IS CRACKED. I AM A CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR AND CAN SAY THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURER DISCONTINUITY. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WENT OUT YEARS AFTER PURCHASE IN 2006. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. I AM THE ONE AND ONLY OWNER AND PURCHASED IT NEW WITH ONLY 17 MILES ON IT. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD SO MANY ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL ISSUES THAT IM STARTING TO THINK I SHOULD APPLY UNDER LEMON LAW BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT.
STEERING GEAR SHIFTER IS STUCK ON "D" DRIVE AND DOES NOT SHIFT TO LOWER GEARS. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AT THE END OF 2006 BRAND NEW. ABOUT TWO YEARS LATER, THE SHIFTER DID NOT WORK ANYMORE. THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SHACKLE BLEW APART RESULTING IN THE SPRING ALMOST BREAKING THOUGH THE BED METAL. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHER SPEED ON A CURVE I FEEL THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE NEGATIVE. I TAKE EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF MY TRUCK AND DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED LOADS OR TOWING LIMITS. I'VE OWNED SEVEN DIFFERENT TRUCKS IN MY LIFETIME AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY INCIDENT LIKE THIS HAPPEN. I THINK NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE A GOOD, HARD LOOK AT THE TYPE OF MATERIALS AND DESIGN INVOLVED IN THIS BRACKET, AS IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BROKEN ON A 3 YEAR OLD TRUCK, DRIVEN ON-ROAD WITH 58,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS 3RD TIME SINCE PURCHASE OF TITAN IN APRIL 2006 THAT I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK TO DEALER. 1ST TIME, REPLACE A/C CONDENSER, 2ND TIME IN 2007 REPLACE COMPRESSOR, 2ND CONDENSER AND KEPT VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS. THIS SUMMER THE CONDENSER MOTOR. THEY SAID HAD RECALL ON IT AND PATCHED A SECTION OF THE MOTOR WITH A/C TAPE AND WRAPPED THE WIRING WITH TAPE AND PUT A WEDGE BETWEEN MOTOR AND BRACKET. MY WIFE WAITED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND 4 HOURS LATER WENT HOME. I WORK OUT OF TOWN AND I CHECKED THE INTERNET FOR RECALLS AND FOUND MORE THAN JUST THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK BUT, HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN OR THE DEALER OF THESE OTHER RECALLS. THE LAST TIME MY TRUCK WAS KEPT FOR 3 WEEKS I REPORTED TO NISSAN THE PROBLEMS AND WAS CUT OFF WHEN I WAS GIVING MY COMPLAINT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE {?}. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM OR THE LOCAL DEALER SPARKS NISSAN.OH YES, I ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED IN MARCH 2008 AS IT DIED AND WOULD NOT HOLD A CHARGE AND IT WAS ON A WEEKEND AND HAD TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE I LEFT TOWN AND NO WAY FOR MY WIFE TO GO. THE DEALER OWNER HERE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS AFTER THE SELL AND EACH TIME SOMEONE ASK ME HOW I LIKE MY TRUCK; I TELL THEM HOW WE HAVE BEEN TREATED AND WHAT PROBLEMS WE HAVE HAD. I SUGGEST STRONGLY THAT THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMIN. CONTACT THESE MANUFACTURES AND ENFORCE THE RECALLS. SOME OF THESE CAN BE FATAL IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS ALL UNACCEPTABLE FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT IS SPENT ON THE PURCHASE OF A VEHICLE. *TR
MY DANA AXLE SEALS STARTED LEAKING AT 35,000 MILES. IT GETS ALL OVER THE BRAKES, CAN CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE. NISSAN WARRANTED THE PROBLEM REPLACED ENTIRE REAR AXLE. MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME TRUCK HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE 90%. *TR

VEHICLE DOES NOT COME WITH ADJUSTABLE CAMBER BOLTS INSTALLED FROM MANUFACTURER. MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO REPLACE NOW THAT VEHICLE IS OUT OF 12MTH/12,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR
AT 69,000 DRIVER REAR AXLE SEAL IS LEAKING. REPLACE WITH NEW BEARING AND NOW AT 81,000 PASSENGER SIDE IS LEAKING. *TR
REAR AXLE FLUID LEAKING ALL OVER INCLUDING BRAKE ROTORS. FIRST NOTICE A SMALL LEAK AND CONTINUED TO BE LARGER OVER TIME. *TR
I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN IN JULY 08. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHEN THE ENGINE ROARED THE TRUCK QUICKLY MOVED FORWARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THE TRUCK WAS A CEMENT SPINDLE FENCE. I DESTROYED 10 FEET OF FENCE AND MY INSURANCE HAD TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO NISSAN AND THEY CHECKED IT, BUT THEY STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY THEN PERFORMED THE 30000 MILE MAINTENANCE FOR APPROX $600. THE NISSAN SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT I MUST HAVE PUSHED THE GAS AND THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME TO CAUSE THE ACCIDENT. I THEN TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN OPEN FIELD AND PUSHED THE BRAKE AND THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME AND THE TIRES JUST SPUN AND THE TRUCK DID NOT MOVE. I TRIED THE SAME THING IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT, THE TIRES SPUN AND THE TRUCK DID NOT MOVE. I ENDED UP GETTING RID OF THE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID IF THE TRUCK SPED FORWARD ON ITS OWN AGAIN AND I COULD NOT STOP IT I MIGHT GET HURT OR KILLED. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO ROAR AND CAUSE THE TRUCK TO SPEED FORWARD. I FILED A POLICE/ACCIDENT REPORT WITH THE LOCAL POLICE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN 4WD. LAST YEAR, AFTER A LONG TRIP, I TOOK IT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE, AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE REAR AXEL WAS LEAKING. THIS WAS IN JULY OF 2008, AND THE VEHICLE HAD 48,813 MILES ON IT. I GOT IT FIXED. THEN 11 MONTHS LATER, AGAIN AFTER A LONG TRIP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS WAS IN JUNE OF 2009, AND THE VEHICLE HAD 63,914 MILES ON IT. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AND APPARENTLY IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING TO A LARGE NUMBER OF NISSAN TITAN OWNERS. SOME ARE REPORTING THAT THE OIL IS LEAKING ONTO THE REAR BRAKES, CAUSING THEM TO FAIL. I HAVE NOT NOTICED THIS YET, BUT EACH TIME I CAUGHT MY LEAK EARLY. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE 2008 TITAN HAS A NEW REAR AXEL DESIGN THAT HAS ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY, NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE IN THE LATER MODELS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE EARLIER MODELS TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. *TR

I CONTINUE TO HAVE A CONSTANT WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT AT 55 & 60 MPH. THE UNIT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT 29335 MILES BECAUSE IT WAS WHINING AT 55 MPH. THE NEW UNIT WAS QUIT WHEN NEW BUT NOW IS AS LOUD AS THE PREVIOUS ONE AT 60MPH. THIS SOUND IS ANNOYING & NEVER GOES AWAY WHILE DRIVING THESE SPEEDS. I AM CONCERNED IT IS A DESIGN FLAW & WILL EITHER FAIL WHEN IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY OR CAUSE ME TO BE STRANDED. I HEAR A LOT ABOUT AXLE SEAL LEAKS & DIFF. UNITS FAILING ON THE TITANS. NOTICED WHEN BRAKING TRUCK STARTED VIBRATING, THOUGHT IT WAS ROTORS GOING BAD UNTIL I LOOKED UNDER MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS WERE WET AND LEAKING. HEARD THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS NOW I HAVE MINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED SMOKE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. HE SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT WIRES, FUSE BOX WIRES, HARNESS WIRES, AND COOLANT UNIT/COMBO SWITCH WERE MELTED AND FUSED TOGETHER. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE COOLING FAN AND THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 64,000. UPDATED 062909 *BF THE DEALER STATED THE AC CONDENSER FAN MOTOR HOUSING RUSTED CAUSING THE MOTOR TO SEIZE AND OVERHEAT, LEADING TO THE WIRES BURNING OUT AND SHORTENING. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR THE PROBLEM HE HAD ALREADY EXPERIENCED. NISSAN INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE CONDENSER FAN PORTION OF THE REPAIR. BOUGHT 2006 NISSAN TITAN IN NOVEMBER 2006. IMMEDIATELY HAD VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. DEALER REFUSED TO CHANGE THE ROTORS. I HAD THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES. BY 15000 MILES, VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING WAS APPLIED. I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. AT 27000 MILES, THE SAME HAS OCCURRED. AGAIN, DEALER WOULD NOT CHANGED THE ROTORS. THEY TOLD ME HAD I CAME IN EARLIER, THEY WOULD HAVE. THIS IS THE 3RD SET OF FRONT ROTORS. VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY, AND SEEMS OUT OF CONTROL WHEN BRAKING IN TIGHT TURNS, SUCH AS ON/OFF RAMPS OF HIGHWAYS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
