1. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB SE. AFTER NORMAL DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS THE VEHICLE REQUIRES AN ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE CAMBER. THERE WAS NO CAMBER KIT INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE FROM THE FACTORY. EVERY MANUFACTURER KNOWS THAT PART OF PROPER MAINTENANCE IS REALIGNING THE VEHICLE. 2. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT IF OTHER TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS BLOGS OF 2006 NISSAN TITANS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR I HAVE FOUND THAT NISSAN FAILED TO PROVIDE THE ABILITY TO ALIGN THE VEHICLE. 3. NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. WHEN NISSAN IS CONTACTED THEY INFORM ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY SINCE I HAVE EXCEEDED THE 36,000 MILES. I AM TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PURCHASE A CAMBER KIT FROM NISSAN IN ORDER TO ALIGN THE VEHICLE. *TR
NISSAN TITAN PICKUP TRUCK- 5 SPOKE WHEEL SPOKE CRACKED. AS THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE CRACK DID WORSEN AND CAUSED INCREASED VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE WHEEL FOR IMPACT DAMAGE, NON WAS OBSERVED. THE 18IN ALLOY WHEEL WAS REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP. NO OTHER WHEEL COMPONENTS, SPOKES HAD ANY DAMAGE. THIS IS A MECHANIC BREAKDOWN OF A TIRE-WHEEL COMPONENT WHICH WILL CAUSE FATALITIES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKES WERE UNDERRATED (TOO SMALL) TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE STOPPING ABILITY FOR A VEHICLE OF THAT SIZE. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES DUG INTO THE ROTORS AND CAUSED MASSIVE DAMAGE TO THE POINT THAT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE BRAKE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,850.
THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT LYNNES NISSAN IN STANHOPE, NJ. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT HAD FAILED AND THE THE 2006 NISSAN TITAN WHICH HAD ABOUT 36,600 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WAS OUT OF WARRENTY. I PAID LYNNES NISSAN $488.00 FOR THE REPAIR.
NOTICED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, A CLICKING SOUND WHICH BECAME LOUDER WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THEY FIXED IT. SHORTLY AFTER THE OTHER EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED AND THEY FIXED THAT AS WELL. SINCE THEN, THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND EITHER ONE OR BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE CRACKED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS GOING TO COST LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I WAS UPSET, BUT WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT THE SITUATION, UNTIL ONE MORNING I GOT A STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. BEING A MECHANIC, I HAD MY HUNCHES. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT ON OCCASION I GET EXHAUST EMISSION IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE AN ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF OTHER NISSAN TITAN OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING. THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY THAT IF THE LEAK IS AROUND ANY WIRING, THE HOT GAS MAY CAUSE THE WIRING TO MELT CAUSING A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. THAT OF COURSE IS JUST AN EDUCATED OPINION. HOW MANY MORE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE TO CRACK BEFORE NISSAN WILL ADMIT THEY ARE A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. IS IT ABOUT THE MONEY TO RECALL THE VEHICLE OR IS IT ABOUT SAFETY AFTER ALL? IN ADDITION, I WOULD HAVE COMPLETED THIS FORM A LOT SOONER, BUT I WAS JUST RECENTLY INFORMED ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE OBVIOUSLY HAS MORE WEAR AND TEAR AND MORE MILEAGE, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT THIS HAPPENED MANY MILES AGO. THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO READ MY LETTER. *TR
MY 06 TITAN 4WD HAD JUST HAD REPAIRS TO THE TRANSMISSION DONE 2-3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. MY TRUCK HAD BEEN RUNNING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE AC AND RADIO GOING FOR SOME TIME WHILE I WAS DOING VARIOUS CLEANING AND OTHER STUFF OUTSIDE. I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT COOLING OFF WITH MY EYES CLOSED WHEN MY NEIGHBOR CAME RUNNING OUT SCREAMING THAT MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE HOOD FLAMES WERE VISIBLE AND SMOKE. SHE CALLED THE FIRE DEPT WHILE I USED THE HOSE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE THE BEST I COULD UNTIL THE FIRE DEPT ARRIVED. A NISSAN REP INVESTIGATED THE FIRE AND SAID IT WAS NOT THE COMPANY PROBLEM. SHORTLY LATER I RECEIVE THE RECALL CONCERNING THE AC UNIT AND THAT IT MAY LEAD TO FIRE. WE HAD NO INSURANCE AT THE TIME BUT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. IS THIS LEGAL? *TR
THE VEHICLES FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AT 34,250 MILES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON MANY ONLINE FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT DOES NOT NECESSARILY RESOLVE WITH JUST BEING FIXED. I WAS VERY UPSET TO FIND OUT THAT WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY 2 CHILDREN WHILE HELPING HER MOTHER MOVE, THAT THE AXLE ON THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN SEPARATING. MY TRUCK IS NOT UTILIZED FOR HAULING LARGE LOADS OR TOWING OF ANY KIND. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAK OBSERVED ON 2/3/2008. FLUID LEAK COVERED BOTTOM PORTION OF BRAKE ROTOR. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND AXLE SEAL WAS REPLACED UNDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE AS DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ON BRAKES COULD IMPACT BRAKE FUNCTION AND LEAD TO FAILURE. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED THAT SEVERAL OF THESE SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE (BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES), BUT THEY HAVE LITTLE EXPLANATION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
PASSENGER REAR AXLE SEAL FAILED AT 37,000 MILES. NISSAN IS REPALCEING UNDER WARRANTY, WITH THE SAME PART THAT WILL PROBABLY NOT LAST LONG EITHER...*CN
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE. POSSIBLE REAR END FAILURE. *TR
MY VEHICLE IS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN SE CREW CAB 4X4. I WAS LOOKING AT MY NEW TIRES WHEN I NOTICED FLUID LEAKING AT THE END OF THE AXLE WHERE IT JOINS WITH THE WHEEL. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO FAILURE. I TOOK IT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD TO CENTRAL VALLEY NISSAN UPON NOTICING THIS PROBLEM (I WAS DOWN THERE WITHIN 30 MINUTES). THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ON TITANS BEFORE. HE SAID IT IS A REAR AXLE SEAL THAT HAS FAILED. I WAS TOLD THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE THE AXLE WARPS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS FIXED THE NEXT DAY (I AM GOING DOWN FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING). I AM HOPEFUL THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN WITH MY VEHICLE. BASED ON INTERNET SEARCHES, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD. SINCERELY, MICHAEL JAMES *TR
RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 24,000 MILES NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OFFER A PERMANENT FIX SO WE WILL NOT BE FACED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. *TR

CV VALVES CAUSING ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN ALSO REPORTED MOTOR PROBLEMS AT 20,000 MILES AND REPLACED MOTOR AT 50,000 AND ELECTRICAL AND AIR CONDITIONER PROBLEMS WITH A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH FANS AND NOW LEAKING FLUIDS AND OVERHEATING OCCURS OFTEN AND OCCASIONALLY TRANSMISSION HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING INTO DRIVE AND WHILE IN DRIVE UNABLE TO DOWN SHIFT MANUALLY THE FEATURES FOR MANUAL SHIFTING ARE NOT WORKING ALSO GAUGES SUCH AS BRAKE ,CHECK ENGINE,AIR PRESSURE LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON NO WAY TO TURN THESE WARNING LIGHTS OFF CIGARETTE LIGHTERS HAVE NEVER WORKED AND WHEN ENGINE IS SHUT DOWN AND NO KEY IS IN THE IGNITION THE GAUGES FLICK RAPIDLY ON THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL,TAC ODEM, A LOUD CLICKING IS HEARD FOR MINUTES SOUNDING FROM THE ENGINE AT THE TIME THE GAUGES FLICK, ALSO THE EX-CAB DOORS ARE BROKEN THE LOCKS WAS TOLD THE TRUCK WAS ON OF THE TRUCKS BOUGHT FROM LOUISIANA AFTER HURRICIANE KATRINA AND WAS SENT FORM NORMAN, OKLA TO MCALESTER, OKLA TO BRAD FENTON MOTORS I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN 06 WITH LESS THEN 400 MILES AND I'VE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS AND REPAIRS AND CONTINUE TO HAVE NEW PROBLEMS AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURE ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL AND FAN AND AIR CONDITIONING RECALLS ON THE 06 NISSAN TITANS THAT WAS RECALLED IN AUGUST 2008 THIS IS VERY UPSETTING AND A SELLSMAN AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME ABOUT 500 TITANS PURCHASED VERY CHEAP ALL BRAND NEW VEHICLES SAID TO BEEN SENT TO PARTS OF OKLAHOMA AND THESE TRUCKS WERE SAID TO BE FIXED FOR WATER DAMAGE AND ANY REPAIRS NEEDEND TO THESES TRUCKS THESE TRUCKS WERE BOUGHT AFTER BEING SUMERGED IN WATER AND MINOR REPAIRS WERE MADE AND THEN THESE TRUCKS WERE SOLD AS BRAND NEW WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT WATER DAMAGES AND SOLD VERY EXPENSIVE WITH OUT ANY DISCOUNT. I AM WANTING TO KNOW IF MY TITAN WAS PURCHASED DURING HURRICANE KATRINA AND WHAT DEALERSHIP IT WAS BOUGHT FROM ORIGINALLY BEFORE IT WAS DELIVERED TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I WANT TO KNOW ALL RECALLS AND CAR FAX AND ANY REPORTS MADE . *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS LEAKING WHERE THE AXLE MEETS THE TIRE ON BOTH SIDES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PAINT WAS MORE GRAY THAN BLUE AROUND THE DOOR JAM AREA OF THE VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE THREE LAYERS OF PAINT IN THAT AREA. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY OFFERED HIM A TRADE AT THE COST OF $3,000. THE CONTACT DECLINED THEIR OFFER. THE DEALER REQUESTED THAT NISSAN SEND THEM PICTURES. ONCE THE PICTURES WERE RECEIVED, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER, THEY DO ACKNOWLEDGE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE FAILURE BEGAN WITHIN WEEKS OF THE VEHICLE BEING PURCHASED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN OCT 2006. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND IS GOING FOR THE FIFTH TIME 11/23/07 WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS. I WAS JUST TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM I WILL JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM. *TR
NOTICED GEAR OIL ON RIGHT REAR AXLE DUST COVER AND BRAKE COMPONENTS. RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING. FIRST NOTICED THE LEAKING SEAL AT 25,600 MILES.
2006 NISSAN TITAN BATTERY DIED WHILE DRIVING. CUSTOMER STATED THAT HE HAD NO PRIOR INDICATIONS BEFORE THE FAILURE. HE ASKED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE BATTERY . *KB THE CONSUMER STATED A BATTERY SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 11 MONTHS. *JB
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKED. FLUID GOT ON REAR BRAKES. 2006 NISSAN TITAN SE CREW CAB. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR FOR THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS FOR THE FRONT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WORKED NORMALLY FOR A YEAR AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, BUT THE FAILURE EVENTUALLY RECURRED. THIS TEMPORARILY REMEDIED THE ISSUE FOR 15,000 MILES. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THIS FAILURE SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING TO A THREE YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS NOT USED EVERYDAY, SO HE BELIEVES THE FAILURE IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. HE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED FOR A SECOND TIME. CURRENTLY, THE ROTORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. REAR AXEL SEALS WENT OUT ON BOTH WHEELS AT THE SAME TIME WITH 37,000 MILES. NISSAN ONLY FIXED BECAUSE OF EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASE. NO RENTAL CAR WAS GIVEN ALTHOUGH THE DEFECT WAS THEIRS. *TR
HAD BEEN HEARING A 'CLANK' WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE INTO GEAR, SIMILAR TO WHEN A U-JOINT IS FAILING. WHILE TOWING MY BOAT TRAILER (BOAT WAS IN THE WATER), HAD THE VEHICLE IN 4WD, AND TURNED HARD LEFT TO EXIT THE PARKING SPOT. HEARD A LOUD SNAP IN THE REAR END, THEN HEARD ANOTHER ONE. USED TRUCK TO PULL THE BOAT OUT, BUT THEN DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER AND HAD MY FRIEND TOW THE BOAT HOME. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP NEXT MORNING, AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY (THANK GOD!). *TR
NISSAN TITAN -WHEEL SPOKE CRACKED THROUGH ONE WHEEL SPOKE OF THE 18 INCH CHROME ALLOY, 5 SPOKE WHEEL RIM CRACKED IN TWO. THE BRAKE WAS UNSTABLE AND NEAR THE MIDPOINT OF THE SPOKE. IT WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE WHEEL. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF IMPACT OR STRESS THAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THE FRACTURE. THE OTHER SPOKES REMAINED INTACT, BUT THIS WA S A HAZARDOUS SITUATION.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. APPROXIMATELY THREE MINUTES AFTER THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, FLAMES ERUPTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT REFUSED TO INFORM THE CONTACT OF WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 5,900. UPDATED 02-01-08. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED AS OF 08/20/07 HE STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK AND DOES NOT KNOW WHAT DEFECT WAS FOUND IN THE INVESTIGATION. RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID ON THE AXLE ITSELF AS WELL AS ON THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE ROTOR, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. ) RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL AND BEARING REPLACED.*AK
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACK AND CAUSE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. ONLY FIX IS TO RE PLACE MANIFOLDS. MANIFOLDS ARE MANUFACTURE DEFECTIVE. COST TO REPLACE IS OVER $2000.00 NISSAN STATED NO RECALL.
REAR AXLE SEAL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR IS LEAKING. THIS IS ON A 2006 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB WITH ONLY 26,000 MILES ON IT! *TR
REAR DRIVE AXLE BREATHER VENT LEAKING FLUID. *TR
REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. CAN CAUSE VEHICLE TO LOOSE TRACTION. DID NOT IN MY CASE. GEARS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT ABOUT 30K MILES. *TR
ON APRIL 16, 2007 THENISSAN TITAN' DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE DOOR POCKET THAT COULD HAVE IGNITED, JUST A BOTTLE OF WATER, AND THE KEYS WERE OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE STARTED AROUND THE SPEAKER AREA AND SPREAD TO THE REST OF THE DOOR PANEL. I GOT THE FIRE PUT OUT BEFORE IT SPREAD TO THE REST OF THE TRUCK, BUT THE REAR SEAT AND DOOR WERE DESTROYED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE THE AUTOMATIC UP FEATURE ON THE POWER WINDOW IS PUSHED, IT WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE. EVEN WHEN HE GRABS THE WINDOW IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP IT FROM GOING UP, IT CONTINUES TO MOVE UPWARDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW WILL ONLY STOP WHEN HE STRIKES IT HARD. THE VIN IS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
2006 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB 4WD..REAR DIFF WENT OUT AT 17,166. NISSAN REPLACING AT DEALERSHIP .OLD PART IS TO BE SENT BACK TO ORLANDO FL WAREHOUSE. *JB
LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL BLEW OUT AND LEAKED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING ON REAR BRAKE ROTORS WHICH COULD CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH WAS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. AT TIME OF FAILURE AT 8000 MILES NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL WILL SLOWLY LEAK AND CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOSE FLUID AND FAIL. NISSAN REPLACED SPACER AXLE (43070-7S200), BEARING (40210-7S210), AND SEAL (43252-7S200). AS THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN, NISSAN SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OFFER A PERMANENT FIX SO WEOULD NOT BE FACED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. *AK
I WAS CHANGING REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL FOUND LEAKING FORM THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE SEAL AND PINION GEAR SHAFT FRONT SEAL. IF AXLE SEAL LEAK GETS WORSE IT MIGHT GET ON TO THE ABS SENSOR AND BRAKE DISK AND EMERGENCY BRAKE (LITTLE DRUM DISK) AND CAUSE SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. ALSO IF I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS AND KEPT DRIVING THIS AXLE ONLY HOLD ABOUT 2 QUARTS OF GEAR OIL, ALL OIL CAN LEAK OUT AND CAUSE DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE PROBLEM SUDDENLY AND IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ALSO. LEAKING OIL IS ALSO A ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDED. SO MANY PEOPLE SEEMS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BY RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND ONE OCCUPANT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED $5,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. HE DOES NOT KNOW IF THE FAILURE WAS EVER DIAGNOSED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
TRUCK BECAME STUCK IN A MUDDY DITCH, USED 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO GET OUT OF THE DITCH. AFTER PULLING OUT OF DITCH TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF WITH TRUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF THE DITCH THE TRUCK DID SPIN, BUT NOT EXCESSIVELY. WHEN TRUCK WAS RESTARTED, THERE WAS A WARNING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. TRUCK WOULD NOT GO FORWARD, BUT WOULD GO IN REVERSE. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER COMPLETE WARRANTY, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY STATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BURNED UP AND THAT THE TRUCK HAD BEEN ABUSED BECAUSE THERE WAS MUD ON THE TRUCK. *JB
THE REAR SEAT SEAT-BELTS OF MY NISSAN TITAN TRUCK WILL TIGHTEN INTO A LOCKED POSITION CAUSING THE PASSENGER TO BECOME IMMOBILIZED AGAINST THE SEAT BACK. THE ONLY WAY TO UNDO THE LOCKED SEAT-BELT IS TO COMPLETELY DISENGAGE IT, AND THEN RE-LOCK IT. HOWEVER, IT'S THEN JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT LOCKS UP AGAIN FORCING THE PASSENGER TO UNLOCK IT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD, BECAUSE THE PASSENGER HAS TO UNDO THEIR SEAT-BELT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION SO THEY CAN MOVE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE SEAT BELTS ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIX THEM. I HAVE VERIFIED WITH OTHER 2006 NISSAN TITAN OWNERS AND THEY HAVE NOTED THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THE NISSAN DEALER ADMITTED THEY HAVE HAD OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY NEED TO REDESIGN THE REAR SEAT BELTS OR USE DIFFERENT TYPES THAT WON'T TIGHTEN AND LOCK UP WHEN PEOPLE ARE SIMPLY SITTING IN THEM, WHICH CREATES THIS SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I ALWAYS INSIST THAT ANYONE RIDING WITH ME USE THE SEAT BELTS, BUT I HAVE NOTED ON OCCASION THAT SOME HAVE RELEASED THEM WITHOUT TELLING ME, BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT HAD LOCKED UP ON THEM, CAUSING TOO MUCH DISCOMFORT. MAYBE YOU CAN GET NISSAN TO CORRECT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY WON'T LISTEN TO ME (THEY SIMPLY REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT WITH A SIMILAR DEFECTIVE ONE). *TR
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES START DURING NORMAL BRAKING. TRUCK MUST BE STOPPED, PUT IN PARK AND THE IGNITION SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED TO CORRECT BRAKING PROBLEM. THIS PROCESS SOMETIMES HAS TO BE REPEATED 2 TIMES BEFORE THE BRAKES PERFORM CORRECTLY. NISSAN WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED AND THE INTERNAL COMPUTER SHOWS NO SIGN OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
I DRIVE DAILY ON UNLIT ROADS, AND THIS PROBLEM FREQUENTLY OCCURS. MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN'S AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING CONTROLS RESPONSE TO CHANGE IS SLOW WITH HEADLIGHTS ON (10-15 SECONDS TO MOVE FROM FLOOR TO DEFROST), CAUSING A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN NEEDING TO DEFROST AT NIGHT. NISSAN INDICATED THIS SAFETY PROBLEM IS THE RESULT OF POOR DESIGN FOR TITANS SINCE THE ENGINEERS CHOSE TO USE THE VARIABLE VOLTAGE FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT RHEOSTAT TO POWER THE HVAC CONTROLS. THIS 15 SECOND DELAY CAUSES A SAFETY PROBLEM SINCE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT SINCE THE DRIVER MAY BE UNAWARE THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS FOGGED UNTIL ONCOMING TRAFFIC COMES INTO VIEW. WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN MODES (IN THIS CASE, HEAT TO DEFROST), BY THE TIME AIR BEGINS TO BLOW OVER THE WINDSHIELD, THE TRUCK HAS TRAVELED 1100 FEET WITHOUT ME BEING ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD (AT 50 MPH). THIS HAS MADE ME RUN OFF THE ROAD, OR NEARLY RUN OFF THE ROAD, NUMEROUS TIMES (AT LEAST 10 THAT I REMEMBER). THE ONLY OTHER OPTION IS TO TURN THE INSTRUMENT PANELS TO FULL BRIGHT WHICH BLINDS ME DURING NIGHTTIME DRIVING (JUST AS UNACCEPTABLE AS A FOGGED WINDSHIELD). NISSAN CURRENTLY HAS NO REPAIR FOR THIS MALFUNCTION. *NM
BRAKES - REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN 16000 MILES. WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE OR SOONER IF I HAD KNOWN HOW TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM EARLIER. THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC EVENTS THAT LEAD TO THE THESE WARRANTY REPLACEMENTS. I WAS REASSURED THAT MY NORMAL DRIVING DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROBLEMS. REAR AXLE REPLACEMENT - 15800 MILES. THIS WAS ALSO NOT DUE TO MY NORMAL DRIVING, AS REASSURED BY THE NISSAN SERVICE STATION. I WAS LITERALLY SHAKEN OFF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE STATION, AFTER THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VIBRATION I FELT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO SOME TIRE CUPPING WHEN I HAD BROUGHT IT IN THE DAY BEFORE. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS JERKING AND RUNNING AT HIGHER THAN NORMAL RPM IN IDLE AND REVERSE. NEW TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 15800 MILES ALSO. ALL THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED MERELY 1 WEEK AFTER MY NEW TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND REAR END WERE REPLACED. I HAD DRIVEN ALMOST 600 MILES. I AM NOW DRIVING A RENTAL CAR, PAYING OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE I AM TOO SCARED TO LOSE CONTROL OF A CAR THAT MIGHT HAVE A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE CAUSING HARM TO MYSELF OR OTHER DRIVERS/PEDESTRIANS. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN MARCH 2006; WITH 6 MILES ON IT. *JB

EVER SINCE I BOUGHT MY TITAN (3-3-06) I NOTICED A WHINING NOISE AT SPEED WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS TIRE NOISE. WELL ON NOVEMBER 15, 2006 I NOTICED A REAL BAD GRINDING/WHINING NOISE WHEN I DECELERATED. THERE WAS ONLY 6900 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A MECHANIC RODE WITH ME UP THE STREET AND BACK AND SAID THAT MY TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS. I LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP OVERNIGHT AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE REAR END. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT MY TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT IT AND THAT THE WHINING NOISE I ALWAYS HEARD WAS THE REAR END AND NOT THE TIRES. *NM
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN A CITY STREET APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, WHEN A LOUD, BANGING, CLANKING NOISE ERUPTED FROM THE REAR END. THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE REAR TIRES MOMENTARILY SEIZED UP PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO A SKID, WHICH I WAS ABLE TO CORRECT. THE REAR END THEN BEGAN TO FREE WHEEL AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONLY BY TEMPORARILY PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO 4WD WAS I ABLE TO GET SAFELY OFF THE ROADWAY. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY WITH NISSAN. DEALER DIAGNOSED A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND REPLACED ENTIRE REAR AXLE UNDER WARRANTY. *JB
06 NISSAN TITAN PICKUP COMES EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER SRA265 70 R/18 TIRES. THIS IS A ROAD TIRE WITH VIRTUALLY NO TRACTION MATCH FOR A LIGHT REAR PICKUP TRUCK. TRUCK EXPERIENCES REAR TIRE SPIN AND HYDROPLANING ON WET ROADS. ALMOST LOST CONTROL TWICE. NISSAN NOR GOODYEAR WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED. THIS TIRE IS A TOTAL MIS MATCH FOR THIS VEHICLE. *NM
ON THE NISSAN 2006 TITAN LE, THE FRONT SEAT BELTS WILL NOT FULL RETRACT WHEN UNBUCKLED. IF NOT NOTICED PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM FULLY CLOSING OR IF THE DOOR DOES CLOSE ON THE BELT, THE PERSON WEARING THE BELT IS NOT FULLY RESTRAINED. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH COULD BE THROWN INTO THE WINDSHIELD OR FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS SEAT BELT DEFECT WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND THE REPLY WAS " THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT". *JB
