TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING, EXHAUST FUMES ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
2010 NISSAN TITAN PRO-4X UNCONTROLLABLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. I WAS DRIVING DOWN AN AISLE IN A PARKING LOT AND BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND TURN LEFT INTO A PARKING STALL. JUST AS MY VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO COME TO A STOP AND PARK, THE ENGINE REVVED (IT FELT/SOUNDED LIKE FULL THROTTLE), THE TIRES SQUEALED AND LAUNCHED THE VEHICLE FORWARD RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A VEHICLE PARKED IN THE OPPOSITE STALL. BECAUSE MY FOOT WAS ALREADY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL I MANAGED TO QUICKLY DEPRESS IT ALL THE WAY AND AT LEAST REDUCE THE SEVERITY OF THE IMPACT. TO DATE, THIS IS THE FIRST AND ONLY OCCURRENCE OF A PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL/ACCELERATOR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUMES FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS FRACTURED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE OBVIOUSLY A FLAWED DESIGN THAT CAUSES UNDUE MAINTENANCE AND POLLUTION. I HAVE HAD THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS POOR AND UNSAFE DESIGN AND BE LIABLE FOR REPLACEMENT AFTER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY LAPSES. OR THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE MANIFOLDS WITH A DESIGN THAT DOESN'T CAUSES CRACKING. *TR
