The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH over a ramp in the road, there was a loud banging sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. Later, while depressing the brake pedal, there was a scraping sound coming from the front passenger’s side wheel, and the vehicle started jerking and vibrating and failed to properly stop the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually taken to the local Pep Boys, who determined that the front passenger’s side brake caliper bolt was missing from the brake caliper and informed the contact that the brake caliper needed to be replaced. The brake caliper was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side wheel was damaged due to the failure and needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.
