STARTED THE VERSA AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES AND WAS EXITING A SHOPPING CENTER. EXIT REQUIRES DRIVING UP A SIGNIFICANT INCLINE TO ACCESS BUSY THREE LANE ROAD. AT THE CREST OF THE HILL, DURING PAUSE WAITING FOR ACCESS POINT TO ENTER TRAFFIC, VERSA WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN WITH EXCELLERATOR DEPRESSED. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND VERSA INSTEAD ROLLED BACKWARDS, GAINING MOMENTUM WHILE GOING DOWN HILL BACKWARDS. BRAKES FAILED, PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP CAR UNTIL A CURB WAS HIT. LATER, EXITING THE SAME LOCATION AND CROSSED IN 2 LANES, THE VERSA RUNNING BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT MOVE THE CAR. ZERO RPMS. CAR STOPPED DEAD IN ITS TRACKS AND WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN SHIFTING GEARS TRYING ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO GET OUT OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO MOVE THE CAR, THE VERSA DIED. VERSA THEN WOULD NOT START AND ONLY MADE 'CLICKING NOISES'. FIVE PEOPLE IN THE CAR ALL AT RISK DURING THIS SERIOUS DRIVABILITY CONCERN. ONCE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, THE TRANS AND ENGINE SINKED AND VERSA THEN DRIVABLE. EXITED THE ROADWAY. DROVE THE VEHICLE IN LESS POPULATED AREA TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ALL FOLLOWING A COMPLAINT TO THE DEALER IN MAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING UNUSAL NOISES WHICH THEY CLAIMED WAS NORMAL FOR THE 2014 CVT.
I HAD TO STOP REAL QUICK TO AVOID HITTING A STRAY DOG RUNNING ACROSS THE STREET. I FELL FORWARD THE STERRING WHEEL. MY SEAT BELT WAS LOOSE. THE SEAT BELT COVER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT POPPED OFF AND WOULD CUT MY ARMS OR HANDS WHENEVER I HAD TO REACH IN BACK TO LOCK OR UNLOCK BACK DOOR. THAT WAS FINALLY COMPLETED APPROX. 2 WEEKS AGO. BY A NISSAN DEALER. HOWEVER, IT STATED ON THE WORK ORDER. THEY DID IT THE BEST WAY- THEY COULD. LAST NIGHT, 8/4/2015, I USED THE SEAT BELT AND IT WAS LOOSE WHEN I PUT IT ON AND NEVER GOT ANY TIGHTER, EVEN IF I TRIED TO MOVE AROUND THE FRONT SEAT. WITH OR WITHOUT BRAKES IT NEVER TIGHTENS UP IF I MAKE A SUDDEN STOP.. I HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR, BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS TO ME. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON IT-ORDERS FROM ABOVE. MY BRAKES ACT CRAZY SINCE THEY DID THAT RECALL SYSTEM AND NOW THIS(PLUS MY OTHER PROBLEMS). SEAT BELTS ARE A MUST IN MY CAR. HOW CAN I TELL MY PASSENGERS TO WEAR THEIRS WHEN MINE JUST HANG ON ME. THIS IS BIG SAFETY ISSUE.
PARKED MY CAR, AS I WAS WALKING AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE HEARD A "CLICK" NOISE AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. NOTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD, IT JUST CRACKED. THE CRACK IS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FROM THE LOWER CORNER AND GOES UP ALL THE WAY TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS DISTRACTED BY HIS ANIMAL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S FOOT BECAME CAUGHT UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED FACE AND RIBS INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V507000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, IT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,876.
RETURNING FROM STATE LINE MY MOTHER AND TWO AUNTS WHERE DRIVING BACK TO LA ON THE FREEWAY WHEN TRAFIC SLOWED BEFORE APPROACHING A DOWNHILL GRADE WHEN MY AUNT WENT TO BRAKE WHEN THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS A TOTAL FAILURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOR. SHE THEN CONTINUED TO PUMP THE BRAKES STILL NOT STOPING SHE PUT THE CAR ON NUETRAL AND PULLED ON THE SHOULDER AND WAITED FOR THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN THE CAR STOPED THEY BRAKES WERE STILL NOT WORKING. THE CAR STOPED WHEN THEY ENTERED AN UPHILL OFF RAMP. THEY THEN CALLED AAA AND TOWED THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE VERY NEXT DAY JULY 6 I TOOK MY MOTHETS CAR TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPEN N THEY PROCEEDED TO CHECK THE CAR ONKY TO FIND "CLIENT STAYESAT TIME BRAKE IS HARD/PADEL GORS TO THE FLOOR" THEN IT SAYS "TEST BRAKE SYSTEM, OK. NO LEAK. UNABLE TO DIPLOCATE THIS PROBLEM AT THIS TIME." I DID SOME REASEARCH AND FOUND ARTICLES RELATED TO THE 2014 NISSAN VERSA BREAK FAILURES AND PROCEDED TO THIS WEBSITE. HERES MY QUESTION WHAT IF THE NEXT TIME A NISSAN VERSA BRAKE FAILURESRESULTS IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR LOSS OF LIFE. MY MOTHER THIS NISSAN VERSA IM DESCRIBING WITH INCIDENT IS MY MOTHERS. RECALL IT AND MAKE IT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL YOU AND I BOTH KNOW IT WILL.
I LIVE IN ARIZONA. I HAD COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IN SOME HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS GETTING READY TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. AT THE POINT OF MAKING THE RIGHT TURN THE CAR DIED. I COULD NOT COMPLETE THE TURN. BASICALLY I STARTED TO HEAD INTO OTHER CARS THAT WERE MAKING A LEFT TURN WHICH WAS PERPENDICULAR TO MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ANY CARS AND AT THE SAME TIME WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BY ANY CARS. THE CAR ENDED UP IN THAT LEFT TURN LANE. WHEN THE CAR STOPPED I TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN WAITED A MINUTE OR TWO AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AGAIN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WHICH WAS A 1/2 MILE AWAY. IT WAS ABOUT 105 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR THIS TYPE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. I THINK ONE OF THE SERVICE BULLETINS MENTIONS EXACTLY WHAT I WENT THROUGH. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE ONE OR MORE PEOPLE WILL GET HURT OR DIE. I NEVER HAVE HAD ANY ISSUE REALLY OF ANY TYPE WITH THIS VEHICLE BEFORE. ALL THE MAINTENANCE WORK THAT IS NEEDED HAS BEEN DONE ON TIME. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY. I DID NOTICE PROBABLY 30 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING THAT THE CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. I KEPT THINKING I DIDN'T HAVE THE CAR IN THE CORRECT GEAR BUT I DID. THE CAR DURING THAT TIME SEEMED SLUGGISH.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND ENGINE CUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE. PUT CAR IN PARK, AND TRY TO RESTART BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DURING TRAFFIC. MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I LET CAR SIT FOR 30 MINUTES AND CAR FINALLY RESTARTED. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP ON 7/6/15 AND THEY ADJUSTED THE IDLE BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. ON 8/8/15, I WAS LEAVING A STORE AND STARTED TO YIELD TO TURN ONTO A BUSY STREET AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR ON 8/11/15 TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE ECM, BUT DID NOT SAY THAT WOULD PERMANENTLY FIX THE ISSUE. I'M AN EXTREMELY CONCERNED CONSUMER AS I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL POST ONLINE FROM CONSUMERS FOR THIS VERY ISSUE, AND I DON'T FEEL NISSAN HAS DONE THEIR PART TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. BEING THAT THE CAR SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WITH OUT FOREWARNING, I'M CONCERNED SHOULD THIS SHUT DOWN OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED A FATALITY COULD OCCUR.
REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT 30 MPH CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND HAD I NOT HAD THE RADIO OFF SO I COULD HEAR IT AND HAVE A CLUTCH I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN MANY ACCIDENTS. THE GAS PEDDLE GOES DOWN TO THE FLOOR LIKE ITS BEING SUCKED IN AND DOESN'T COME BACK UP SO THE ENGINE JUST SCREAMS LOUD AS THE CAR THRUSTS FORWARD AS FAST AS IT CAN GO, SO I HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, APPLY THE BREAKS AND KEEP TAPPING ON THE GAS PEDDLE ALL AT THE SAME TIME UNTIL THE PEDDLE COMES BACK UP, WHICH TAKES ABOUT 15 TO 30 SECONDS AND IF YOU ARE RIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER CAR ITS JUST TO CLOSE OF A CALL AND IN THE MEAN TIME YOUR ENGINE IS SCREAMING SO LOUD UNTIL IT COMES BACK UP AND THEN AFTER YOU CAN CALM DOWN FROM GOING INTO SHOCK, YOU CAN CONTINUE. IT HAPPENS WHEN I TAKE OFF AT A GREEN LIGHT, ENTERING ONTO A HIGHWAY WHERE YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT SOME GAS OR PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, SO BASICALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO GIVE SOME OR EXTRA GAS. I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN AT A GREEN LIGHT WITH ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME ONLY ABOUT 20 FT AND HAD TO THINK FAST AND THROW IT IN NEUTRAL OR IT WOULD HAVE PLOWED ME INTO THAT CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I'M SCARRED TO DRIVE IT ON TRIPS TO GO SEE MY KIDS 100 MILES AWAY BECAUSE IT HAPPENS MORE THEN. IT DIDN'T START TILL IT WAS WITHIN THE 1ST YR BUT DIDN'T DO IT AGAIN FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS AND THEN LIKE 5 MONTHS, NOW IT SEEMS TO DO IT A LOT MORE, SO I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL YOU. I NEED IT FIXED LIKE NOW OR GET THEM TO PUT ME IN A NEW VEHICLE, PLEASE HELP.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR ON 02/14/2014 AND YESTERDAY WAS THE FORTH TIRE TO GO FLAT ALL FOUR HAVE BEEN ON THE BACK DRIVER SIDE. THE FIRST TWO I'M NOT 100% ON WHAT CAUSED IT AS I JUST ASSUMED I RAN OVER A NAIL THE FIRST TIME AND THEN JUST HAD BAD LUCK ON THE 2ND TIME. THE THIRD TIME (STARTING IN OCTOBER OF 2014-RIGHT AFTER THE 2ND FLAT AND GETTING A BRAND NEW TIRE) THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. WOULD CHECK AND IT WOULD BE LOW. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE LOCATION I GOT THE NEW TIRE FROM AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. WHEN A FEW MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS. IN DECEMBER THE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET OIL CHANGED...THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT...THEY FILLED IT WITH AIR. AGAIN I HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL IT WAS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIME. IN APRIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT A LOT QUICKER. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, NOTHING. NEXT DAY IT WAS FLAT AGAIN HAD TO PUT AIR IN IT TWICE SO I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, AGAIN THEY FOUND NOTHING. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN HAD TO PUT AIR IN IT TWICE, AGAIN TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP (YAP THREE DAYS IN A ROW). LEFT IT THERE ALL DAY. THEY FOUND A PIN HOLE IN THE SIDE. I BOUGHT A NEW TIRE. YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE BACK DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLOW. THIS TIME THERE IS A INCH SIDE SLASH ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE TIRE. IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE PIN HOLE IN THE OTHER TIRE. IT LOOKS LIKE MAYBE THE SEEM WHERE THE BUMPER IS ATTACHED TO THE CAR IS TO SHARP OR RUFF AND KILLING THAT TIRE. I STILL HAVE THE TWO TIRES WITH THE ISSUES AND WILL TRY TO WORK WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT'S FOOT BECAME STUCK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED BECAUSE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR, I WENT TO START IT BY PRESSING THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID AS WELL. IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES FOR THEM TO RELEASE AND COME BACK UP, BEFORE I COULD GET MY CAR STARTED AND DRIVE BACK HOME. I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE IT WAS GOING TO STICK AGAIN ON MY 2 HOUR RIDE BACK HOME.
STEP DAUGHTER STATED BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BRAKES CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER BEING READY TO BACK UP I PLACE THE 2014 VERSA IN REVERSE. I TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR AND STARTED TO BACK UP AND WHEN I TRIED TO MOVE MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE BRAKE PEDAL MY FOOT WAS CAUGHT ON SOMETHING AND I WAS ACTUALLY ADDED PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. I BACKED UP AND I TRIED TO SWING THE CAR AWAY FROM THE PARKED RENTAL CARS BEHIND ME. WAS ABLE TO PULL MY FOOT OF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUSHED THE SHIFTER INTO PARK. I HIT THREE CARS WHEN I WAS BACKING UP. WE DAMAGED OUR REAR FACIA AND THE REAR FACIAS OF THE THREE CARS I HIT AND IT ALSO DAMAGED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF LAST CAR I HIT. WHILE EXAMINING THE DAMAGE OF FORM THE ACCIDENT A SUPERVISOR FROM THE RENTAL COMPANY SAID WE SHOULDN'T FEEL SO BAD SINCE ONE OF THEIR DRIVERS HAD DONE SOMETHING SIMILAR BUT ONLY DAMAGED THE CAR THAT HE WAS MOVING. AT FIRST I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT AND THEN I SAW THE RECENT NTSB ISSUES FOR THIS. I ALSO CHECK ALL OF MY OTHER CARS. THOSE CARS DO NOT HAVE A GAP BETWEEN THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE SIDE OF THE CONSEL. I HAVE NOT GOT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THE CONDITION EXISTS ON CURRENT MODELS. THE MODEL YEAR MIGHT NOT BE CORRECT I WAS JUST TRYING TO REMEMBER IS THIS WAS A 14 OR 15. THE VIN I GOT FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY SO IT HAS TO BE WHAT EVER COMES FROM THERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FRONT END ISSUE WITH THE STEERING ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR OF THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES WERE CUT AND THE FRONT END COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG STOPPED ACTIVATING WHEN THERE WAS AN ADULT IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT DISPLAYS SHOWING IT'S DISABLED AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY FLASHING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL PANEL. NOT SURE IF TIMING WAS COINCIDENCE OR NOT, BUT THIS STARTED HAPPENING IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PLACED A 12-PACK OF SODA ON THE SEAT FOR A FEW BLOCK DRIVE HOME FROM THE STORE. IT DISABLED THE AIR BAG WHILE THE 12-PACK WAS ON THE SEAT, AND THEN IT NEVER RE-ENGAGED FOR AN ADULT IN THE SEAT. REPAIR APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHT WHEN I SAW CAR APPROACHING FAST BEHIND ME. TRIED TO ACCELERATE, BUT CAR STALLED AND I WAS REAR ENDED. WAS TAKEN TO ER. *TR
WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC AT A STAND STILL AND WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED, PUSHING MY DAUGHTERS CAR INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER. HER CAR HAS BEEN CLAIMED AS A TOTAL LOSS. SHE STRUCK HER FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN A BLACK EYE AND CLOSED HEAD INJURY. HER AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED ANYWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE WITH NO BRAKE USE THE BRAKES HOWL VERY LOUDLY WHEN APPLIED THE FIRST FEW STOPS. THE HOWLING HAS GOTTEN WORSE, THE STOPPING POWER IS GOOD AND THERE IS NO BRAKE FADE, NO PULSING IN THE PEDAL. NISSAN REFUSES TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY SAYING BRAKES ARE A WEAR ITEM, BUT MY MILAGE IS ALL HIGHWAY AND INTERSTATE WITH VERY LITTLE BRAKE USEAGE.
THIS CAR TAKES FOREVER TO WARM UP IN WINTER. I DON'T LET IT SIT AND IDLE, I DRIVE SLOWLY FOR A WHILE. IT TAKES ME 20 MINUTES TO GET TO WORK AND JUST STARTING TO WARM UP THEN. IS THIS BECAUSE IT HAS TWO THERMOSTATS AND AN OIL COOLER? ITS AN ANNOYANCE. I EVEN LEAVE HEATER OFF TILL TEMP GAUGE HAS 6 BARS AND THAT ONLY MINIMALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM. *TR
AS I WAS SLOWLY COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT MY BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE. THEY DID NOT MAKE ANY STRANGE NOISES. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKE PEDAL RELEASED SLIGHTLY AND I BEGAN TO ROLL SLOWLY FORWARD, SO I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKES AND STOPPED. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES RELEASING WHILE I'M AT A STOP HAPPENS OFTEN, ESPECIALLY WHEN I RUN THE AIR CONDITIONER. I NOTICE THAT WHEN I'M AT A STOP AND THE AIR CONDITIONER KICKS ON, THE BRAKES WILL OFTEN RELEASE AND I HAVE TO PRESS DOWN HARDER TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD. WHILE TRAVELING OUT A COUNTRY ROAD, I WAS COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL. WHEN I MADE AN ATTEMPT TO STOP, I HAD NO BRAKES WHAT SO EVER. I COULD SEE THAT THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COMING FROM EITHER DIRECTION SO I MADE AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE THE TURN ON TO THE ROADWAY BUT HAD NO STEERING EITHER. WITH NO WAY TO CONTROL THE CAR I ENDED UP GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN, ACROSS THE ROAD, THROUGH A TREE STUMP AND INTO THE SIDE OF AN ABANDONED HOUSE. WITH THE IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT COME OUT EVEN WITH AN IMPACT GREAT ENOUGH TO CAUSE SUSPENSION DAMAGE ALONG WITH OTHER MAJOR BODY AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITH THIS VEHICLE THE AIR BAGS DID NOT COME OUT, THE FIRST IS WHEN MY HUSBAND HIT A DEER HEAD ON AT 55MPH AND AIR BAG SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THEM BEING TRIGGERED. ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE, I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE MAKING A LOW SPEED TURN BUT CAR QUICKLY RECOVERED. DEALER SAID IT WAS A COMMON SMELL WITH NO FURTHER EXPLANATION. AFTER FILLING THE OVERFLOW, THE SMELL STILL PERSISTS. THE OVERFLOW LOSES ABOUT HALF A CUP PER MONTH. I WANT TO KNOW WHO MANUFACTURED THE AIRBAGS IN MY 2014 NISSAN VERSA SEDAN AND MY SPOUSE'S 2009 NISSAN VERSA SEDAN. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR THE AIRBAG BUT I AM AWARE FROM GOOD PRESS REPORTS INCLUDING NYTIMES THAT MANY VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME OR SIMILAR TAKAT-MANUFACTURED BAGS TO THOSE RECALLED AND AT LEAST ONE FATALITY HAS OCCURRED IN SUCH A VEHICLE. I HAVE SEARCHED AND THE ONLY INFORMATION ONLINE I HAVE FOUND IS THE LIST OF RECALLED MODELS. IF MINE IS NOT THERE, I STILL HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHO MANUFACTURED THE AIRBAG AND WOULD APPRECIATE THE NHTSA SUPPLYING SUCH INFORMATION. 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ABS HAS FAILED TO FUNCTION AND HAS LOCKED THE WHEELS UP SOLID UNTIL THE PEDAL WAS RELEASED AND DEPRESSED AGAIN. ALSO THE AIR CONDITIONING WHEN ON MAKES CAR PULSE TO THE POINT THAT AT A STOP UNLESS YOU ARE FULL DEPRESSED ON BRAKE THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD AS COMPRESSOR KICKS ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A 3 LANE ROAD FOR WHICH THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH ON A HOT SUMMER NEVADA DAY (103 DEGREES) THE VERSA SUDDENLY FELT AS IF IT WAS DRAGGING AND BEGAN TO LOOSE SPEED. EVENTUALLY THE CAR STOPPED MOVING EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS. I CHECKED THE FUEL LEVEL WHICH STILL HAD A LITTLE LESS THAN HALF , CHECKED TO SEE IF THE GEAR WAS ON NEUTRAL BUT IT WAS ON DRIVE, I LOOKED AT THE DASHBOARD AND THE BRAKE LIGHT AND PS ICON WERE ON. I CHECKED FOR THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO SEE IT WAS ENGAGED BUT IT WAS NOT. THE A/C WAS BLASTING, THE RADIO WAS ON, THE ENGINE SOUNDED ACTIVE BUT CAR WAS NOT MOVING. I TURNED OFF EVERYTHING, UNPLUGGED MY IPOD AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I THEN TURNED THE CAR ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT ANOTHER 3 MILES TO THE SAFETY OF MY HOME. I WAS ADVISED BY THE SALES PERSON I DEALT WITH TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. THE SERVICE TECH WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND MADE ME TAKE THE CAR BACK. I TOLD THE DEALER I WANT TO RETURN THE CAR, OF COURSE IT'S AN ISSUE BECAUSE THE 3 DAY PERIOD TO RETURN THE CAR WAS ALREADY PASSED. I OPENED A CASE WITH THE NISSAN HQ , THEY ARE CLAIMING IT HAS TO DO WITH THE GAS I PUT IN THE CAR AND THE EXTREME TEMPERATURES IN NEVADA. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP TOLD ME HE HEARD OF SIMILAR CASES AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY WHEN COSTUMER CHANGED THE GRADE OF GAS USED . THIS SOUNDS LIKE BOLOGNA TO ME. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT, BUT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I READ ABOUT OTHER CASES WHERE THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO 1 CAR IN LESS THAN A WEEK. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME , MY PASSENGERS AND THE DRIVERS AROUND ME. NO WARNING ,NO TIME TO GET OUT ON A BUSY FREEWAY . I AM NOT PUTTING LIVES ON THE LINE. *TR
BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN 2014. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION STALLING AND SLIPPING ISSUES WITHIN TWO MONTHS. MY CAR STALLED OUT AND DIED ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WENT TO MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DID NOT FIX IT, NOR DO I THINK THEY EVEN LOOKED AT IT. MY CAR STALLS, SLIPS, GRINDS AND VIBRATES EVERY TIME I GAS IT. THERE HAVE BEEN A HANDFUL OF OTHER TIMES MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT AND DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET, WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR THREE YEARS AND I'VE BEEN TO MY DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES DURING WARRANTY AND AFTER WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE AND EACH TIME THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL FOR MY TRANSMISSION, IN WHICH I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR IT, AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED MONTHS AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. I'VE TRIED LOOKING THIS RECALL UP, AND I CANNOT FIND IT. PERHAPS THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED WHEN IT HAS NOT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR, AND I FEEL AS IF THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM IS ADDING TO THE LACK OF SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE.

THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHEN ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. WHEN I PLACE THEY KEY INTO THE IGNITION, THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINS LOCKED, PREVENTING THE SWITCH TO TURN. IT TAKES A GREAT AMOUNT OF EFFORT AND STRAIN TO UNLOCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. MY CAR HAS 2200 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY (09/29/2014). I TOOK MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED ME (MY INTERPRETATION OF THEIR ADVICE) TO WRESTLE WITH IT UNTIL IT UNLOCKS. DIDN'T HELP MY SITUATION.
