2006 PONTIAC G6. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL REPAIRS. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER RECEIVING TWO RECALL LETTERS, THE PARTS FINALLY CAME IN. WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED HOME, HER HUSBAND REVIEWED THE INVOICE, AND DISCOVERED THE PARTS, THAT WERE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE, WERE RE-MANUFACTURED AND NOT NEW. THE DEALER DENIED, THE PARTS WERE RE-MANUFACTURED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ACTIVATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. HEY MY CAR WAS LEAKING GAS AND AFTER DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR TWO WEEKS ACTUALLY LEARNED WHAT THE ISSUE WAS THE GAS CABLE CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP HAD A LEAK FROM WEAR AND TEAR AND GAS WAS COMING OUT. IF SOMEONE THREW ANYTHING LIT BEHIND MY CAR IT WOULD HAVE BLOWN UP THIS FUEL PUMP ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL I WAS CHARGED A HEFTY REPAIR BILL AS WELL IM REALLY STARTING TO REGRET THIS PONTIAC G6 GT COUPE THE CAR ITSELF SHOULD BE RECALLED IF IT ISNT THE STEERING ITS SOMETHING ELSE. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL OPERATING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A NOISE SIMILAR TO THAT OF WHICH YOU HEAR WHEN THE SEAT BELT ISN'T ENGAGED THEN THE DISPLAY ON THE RADIO READS "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT IT READS "ENGINE POWER DISABLED" AND THEN THE CAR SHUTS ITSELF DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SAFETY WHERE I THEN TURNED THE IGNITION TO OFF. TRIED TO START IT AGAIN BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I WAITED 10 MINUTES AND THEN WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN BUT IT DIDN'T START NORMAL IT KIND OF SPUTTERED AND THEN STARTED. I WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. A SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED A DIFFERENT DAY WHEN I WAS PARKED. I STARTED THE CAR AND IT IMMEDIATELY MADE THE ABOVE MENTIONED NOISE, GAVE ME THE SAME 2 MESSAGES AND THEN SHUT ITSELF DOWN. I THEN COULD START IT AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE BY A DEALER AND HAVE NOT YET HAD THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO HAPPEN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, LOST POWER STEERING. BROUGHT TO MY MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED CODE CO545. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONE MORE TIME SINCE THEN. GM SAYS THIS VIN NOT UNDER RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DESPITE OTHER 2006 PONTIAC G6'S BEING UNDER RECALL FOR EXACT SAME PROBLEM. REFUSED TO HELP. THEY SAID MAYBE IN FUTURE THIS PROBLEM WILL BE PART OF A RECALL. SUCH CALLOUSNESS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. SOON AFTER I PURCHASED IT, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING BEHIND ME WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE BACKWARDS. THEY WERE ON WHEN I WAS NOT PRESSING ON THE PEDAL AND WERE OFF WHEN I WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL. SO TO BE CLEAR THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN THEY SHOULD BE OFF AND COMING ON WHEN THEY SHOULD BE OFF. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MAINTAIN SPEED WHILE USING THE FUNCTION. *TR
MY MOTHER-IN-LAW HAS RECEIVED 3 RECALL NOTICES THIS YEAR PERTAINING TO THIS VEHICLE &, SO FAR, GM HAS NOT PROVIDED THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. THE PERTINENT NHTSA CAMPAIGN #'S ARE 14V153000 & 14V224000. MY DAUGHTER IS CONSIDERING BUYING THIS VEHICLE, SO I AM, UNDERSTANDABLY, CONCERNED ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS BEING FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DEALER WHO BOTH DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE MECHANIC. SCARIEST INCIDENT IN MY LIFE, LOST STEERING OF THE CAR AS I TURNED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC (45 MPH). I HAD TO USE FULL MUSCLE AND WEIGHT TO TURN THE CAR OUT OF THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SOMEONE WITH LESS MUSCLE WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN HEAD ON COLLISION. THIS INCIDENT IS RELATED TO GM'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS N140115. I DO NOT THINK GM IS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. *TR

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED IN AUGUST OF 2014 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) FOR THE SAME FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CONTINUING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6 THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING THEN THE SUN ROOF WOULD OPEN BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE BACK I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WERE AFTER OVER $400 DOLLARS THEY DISCOVERED THAT ABOUT 15 WIRES ABOVE THE HEAD LINER HAD SHORTED OUT AND BURNT THIS IS VERY UNSAFE IF IT HAPPENED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE HEAD LINER CAUGHT FIRE THIS COULD LEAD TO DEATH. *TR

I WAS DRIVING HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AT THE TIME I COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OFF BECAUSE THERE WAS A CURVE COMING UP BEFORE I KNEW IT MY CAR JUST WOULD NOT STOP AND ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THE BACK OF A PICKUP. I WASN'T ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO START BRAKING UNTIL ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE HITTING THE OTHER VEHICLE. MY AIRBAG ALSO DIDN'T DEPLOY. THIS HAPPEN 3 WEEKS AGO NOW I AM PHYSICAL THERAPY BECAUSE OF THE INJURIES SUSTAINED IN ACCIDENT. THE RECALL CAME IN THE MAIL ABOUT A WEEK AFTER ACCIDENT. GO FIGURE PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT I HAD MY CAR AT A SHOP GETTING OIL CHANGE & THEY HAD MENTIONED THERE WAS A VOLTAGE ISSUE BUT SHOULD BE OK. *TR

I HAVE RECEIVED 2 SEPARATE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE REGARDING THE POWER STEERING, ONE IN 2012 AND ONE IN JUNE OF 2014. BOTH RECALLS CLAIMED THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE, AND HAVE NOT BEEN FOR 2 YEARS NOW. I HAVE JUST RECEIVED IN JULY OF 2014 (2) MORE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, REGARDING THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, AND TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE, AGAIN STATING THAT NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MY FIANCE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IT FRIGHTENED ME TO THING THAT HER TRANSMISSION CABLE COULD GO, SO I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE ISSUE TO ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT HOW LONG UNTIL THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, SINCE I WORRY ABOUT HER SAFETY. I WAS TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE, ONE OF WHICH I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 YEARS, AND TO IGNORE THE RECALL LETTERS, THAT THEY DON'T MEAN MUCH AND THEY ARE "FORCED" TO SEND THEM OUT. I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE TO WAIT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE FOR THE PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE, AND NOT TO WORRY UNLESS I RECEIVE MORE LETTERS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A BLATANT DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMER SAFETY. IT'S STARTS WITH BEING HARD TO GET MY CAR OUT OF GEAR. THEN MY CRUISE CONTROL GOES OUT & THEN MY BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE I'M DRIVING, BUT WHEN I BRAKE, THE LIGHT GOES OFF. IT'S THE LIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF MY REAR WINDOW. I CAN SEE THE REFLECTION IN MY REAR WINDOW. *TR

THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT AREAS THAT I ASSUME ARE THE CAUSE OF MY CAR'S PROBLEMS. FIRST THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS HAS STAYED OFF, REGARDLESS OF PASSENGERS BEING PRESENT SINCE 2014, I BELIEVE. USING THE KEY DOES NOT CHANGE THE AIR BAG STATUS. ALSO THIS MAY BE PART OF THE ELECTRICAL AREA, BUT AT AROUND THE SAME TIME MY CRUISE CONTROL ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN I REALIZED BOTH THINGS. ALSO I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRACTION CONTROL COMING ON OUT OF NO WHERE, AND INSTEAD OF THE ENGINE SPEED BEING REDUCED, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. SOMETIMES IT WILL LIKE RESET AFTER I PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR OVER 10 MINUTES, BUT IT WILL COME BACK ON REPEATEDLY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WAIT RESTART, PULL OVER WAIT RESTART SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A USUAL 20 MINUTE DRIVE AT TIMES. ALSO I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR COMPRESSOR STAYING ENGAGED. MY CAR KIND OF BOGS DOWN WHEN THE COMPRESSOR DOES KICK IN, AND IT REPEATEDLY KICKS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING ANY DISTANCE AT ALL. ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER CONSTANTLY. THE MESSAGE CENTER ON THE RADIO CONSTANTLY SAYS THAT I HAVE LOW COOLANT, BUT THAT IS AN ERROR MESSAGE. IN THE SUSPENSION AREA MY WHOLE FRONT END(STRUTS, BALL BEARINGS, ETC) SEEM TO BE BAD. WHEN I DRIVE OVER A SMALL BUMP THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTERS AND PULLS WILDLY TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER. IT FEELS LIKE MY TIRES HIT INTO THE RIM ITSELF OVER SPEED BUMPS WHEN I AM DRIVING MERELY 10 MILES PER HOUR.
RECEIVING NOTICES FROM GM ABOUT RECALL #14116 BUT NO DEALER HAS THE PARTS TO FIX THE RECALL NOTICE. RECALL SAYS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING POSSIBLE AND WOULD LIKE TO GET REPAIRED. LOCAL DEALERS HAVE NO SOLUTION AND SIMPLY SAYS THE MFR. HAS NOT SENT THE PART. *JS

I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN OUT OF A CONVENIENCE STORE. I PULLED OUT ONTO THE ROADWAY AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT GAME ON AND THE WARNING BELL CHIMED. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AT ALL. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES COMING. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT WITH GREAT EFFORT TO THEN MAKE ANOTHER RIGHT BACK INTO THE GAS STATION. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM, FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS, BUT IN RECENT MONTHS HAS INCREASED IN SEVERITY. I HAVE CONTACTED GM REPEATEDLY AND AM TOLD TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT MY CAR IS NOT AFFECTED AND SHOULD BE FINE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY VIN IS NOT ONE OF THE AFFECTED VIN NUMBERS. *TR
