THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,206.
THE CAR CUT OFF ALL THE TIME SUMMER OR WINTER. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO [XXX] AND OTHER CAR REPAIR PLACES AND KNOW ONE SEEM TO KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH IT. WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN AUG. OF LAST YEAR AND BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM EVERY SINCE. IT CUT OF AND READ ERROR ACROSS THE DASH BOARD AND WANT START BACK FOR SOMETIME, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR WHERE EVERY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,126 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,405. DR
IGNITION BROKE DURING DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE HIGHWAY. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT IGNITION LOCKED CAUSED ENGINE TO LOCK. THEREFORE CAR IS IN NO GOOD CONDITION TO DRIVE. REQUIRING A NEW ENGINE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING WITH THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V153000(STEERING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE HIGHWAY THE IGNITION BROKE SO ENGINE LOCKED UP. WHO WANTS TO PAY $6,000.00 FOR A NEW ENGINE ON A 2006 CAR? THANK GOD I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. CAR IS A LOSS AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR POWER STEERING POPPED UP ON THE RADIO AND ALL POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING ON THE CAR. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND SOME MODELS HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING MODULE AND GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO FIX THE ISSUE BUT I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT MY MODEL IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND IF I HAD BEEN GOING FASTER AND ON A TURN IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CLUNK, KNOCK OR RATTLE NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL REGARDLESS IF THE CAR IS PARKED OR DRIVING ON CURVES, TURNING, OR GOING OVER BUMPS AT BOTH LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT AND HAS A CONSTANT VIBRATION/SHAKE WHICH CAN SOMETIMES BE VERY VIOLENT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CAR AND COMPLETELY DISABLE IT! A CONSTANT LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES OR WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED CAN BE HEARD. A TICKING OR KNOCKING TYPE NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION AREA MAY SUBSIDE IN HOT TEMPERATURE. PANORAMIC SUNROOF LEAKES A WIND RUSH NOISE. INTERMITTENT LONG CRANK OR NO CRANK WITH A DELAYED START. HEADLAMP AND BACKLIGHTING HAVE LOW VISIBILITY OR INOPERATIVE. GEARSHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT OCCASIONALLY COMES ON OR FLICKERS. WHEN DOORS ARE LOCKED THE LOCKING MECHANISM MAY NOT RELEASE BY KEY OR REMOTE AND I HAVE TO CRAWL INSIDE FROM THE TRUNK IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE CAR. THE CLIMATE CONTROL DOES NOT ENGAGE/ PUSH AIR ON SETTING 3 BUT WORKS ON 1 2 AND 4. THE FAMOUS "MONSOON" RADIO HAS HORRIBLE SOUNDING SPEAKERS AS IF BLOWN HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT. I HAVE SEEN MORE THAN 1 CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOR THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE PAID A LOT OF MONEY REPAIRING STEERING, BRAKES, ROTORS, ALIGNMENT, TIRES BALANCED ETC. HOWEVER PROBLEMS ARE STILL OCCURRING IN MY VERY RECENT PURCHASED G6. NOW I SEE RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BUT ACCORDING TO GM WEBSITE MY VIN# IS NOT LISTED AS BEING RECALLED. WELL APPARENTLY IT DOES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR REPLACEMENT REPAIR AND REIMBURSEMENT SINCE PONTIAC/GM ARE COMPLETELY AWARE OF THESE ISSUES AND RECALLING CARS WITH "CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS". I HAVE BOUGHT NON-AMERICAN CARS UNTIL NOW WITH NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN STANDARD MAINTENANCE. THIS IS MY FIRST PONTIAC/GM AND SADLY I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF I MADE A MISTAKE BY NOT STAYING WITH NON-AMERICAN MADE CARS. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND SHUT OFF WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN A CORNER, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER MY CAR AROUND CORNERS AND INTO A PARKING SPOT. THE POWER STEERING ALERT ON THE DASH BOARD CAME ON. WHEN I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON. THE ISSUE I EXPERIENCED IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS DESCRIBED IN GMS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10183A, ISSUED IN MAY 2012, WHICH EXTENDS THE WARRANTY ON POWER STEERING COLUMNS FOR OTHER 2006 PONTIAC G6 CARS. HOWEVER, GM'S POSITION IS THAT MY VIN WASN'T SELECTED IN 2012 WHEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS PUT OUT, SO THEY ARE UNWILLING TO COVER THE COST TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT'S A PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED ISSUE WITH THE STEERING COLUMN DESIGN AND THE POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE WHILE DROVE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED HOWEVER HE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN THE STEERING WHEEL UNDER CONTROL. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING).THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
REAR DOORS WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT UNLOCK EITHER WITH DOOR SWITCH OR KEYLESS CONTROL. THIS CREATE A HAZARD IF A SMALL CHILD IS IN A REAR SEAT RESTRAINT, HAVE TO CRAW BETWEEN THE SEATS TO TRY AND REACH THE LOCKS TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
CAR STARTED GIVING A WARNING THAT DRIVER SEAT BELT WAS NOT FASTENED AND IT WAS, THE WARNING WOULD REPEATEDLY COME ON AND GO OFF FOR THE WHOLE DAY. THEN WHILE DRIVING WE LOST POWER STEERING. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PRIVATE DRIVE. LEFT THE CAR AND OBTAINED A RIDE TO MY DESTINATION AND THE NEXT MORNING RETURNED, STARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS OK. CAR DOES SIT OUTSIDE AND NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT GLAD WE WERE NOT GOING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD ON THE CAR JUST ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE THESE ISSUES AND IT WAS EXPENSIVE. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TO BE A NORMAL ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR OF CAR AND WHAT'S SCARY IS WE ALSO OWN A 2008 G6. *TR
18 WHEELER TRAVELING SOUTH ON X HIGHWAY AND GOING TO MAKE AN ILLEGAL RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AS I WAS PASSING. TRUCK DRIVER PROVIDED INCORRECT INSURANCE INFORMATION TO LOCAL POLICE. TRUCK DRIVER THEN PROVIDED ACCIDENT VICTIM VIA CELLPHONE THE INCORRECT INFORMATION FOR A SECOND TIME. THE CLAIMS REP OF THE TRUCK COMPANY DID NOT ADMIT THE DRIVER WORKED FOR THEM UNTIL FOR THIS HE ACCIDENTALLY SAID SOMETHING THAT PROVED THE DRIVER WORKED FOR HIS COMPANY. INSURANCE INFORMATION WAS THEN PROVIDED WITH THE COMMENT, "I COULD CALL BUT WOULDN'T GET A DIME". THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT PHYSICALLY. THEY LOOKED AT IT VIA GOOGLE MAPS WHICH DOES NOT SHOW MY 18' FEET OF SKID MARKS. NOR DID THE REQUEST PICTURES OF IT, ONLY THE CAR FROM THE BODY SHOP. THE ADJUSTOR LIED WHEN TAKING MY STATEMENT. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NOT SPOKEN TO THEIR CLIENT OR GOTTEN A POLICE REPORT BUT THEY KNEW INFORMATION THAT COULD HAVE ONLY COME FROM THEIR CLIENT. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT LOCAL POLICE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RUN OUT OF STATE VEHICLES TO VERIFY INSURANCE. THE DRIVER SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE IN ANY STATE THAT IS NOT ALLOWED TO VERIFY THIS. MY CAR WAS PAID FOR NOW IT'S TOTALED. AS OF 3/16/2014, THE TRUCK DRIVER'S INSURANCE COMPANY HAS NOT MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME REGARDING THE ACCIDENT OR THE INJURY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL TO START. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER A ROAD BUMP OR ANY UNLEVELED ROAD SURFACE, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD FAIL. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WHO THEN CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE SAME FAILURES HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC ALSO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
HAVING TROUBLE STEERING THIS CAR WHEN IT WANTS TO MESS UP CAN RESENT IF YOU SHUT IT OFF. *TR
MY TAIL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK AT ALL ON THE VEHICLE. HAVE REPLACED BULBS AND FUSE AND STILL NOTHING. ALSO THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. IT HAD WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. ALSO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. HAVE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO GET THEM FIXED BUT MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I WAS WONDERING WHY? ALL THE RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN PLACED ON THIS MAKE YEAR AND MODEL ARE EXACTLY WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH ON MINE. SO HOW IS IT DETERMINED WHICH VINS GET RECALLED. I HAVE KIDS AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF PROBLEMS I AM EXPERIENCING WITH IT. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE TAIL LIGHT ISSUE, AND CAN HARDLY DRIVE IT DAILY DUE TO THE POWER STEERING BEING OUT IN THE VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND WHAT THE NEXT STEPS I SHOULD DO. *TT
STEERING FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN FROM HIGHWAY ONTO AN INTERSTATE RAMP. WHILE BRAKING THE STEERING RESPONSE BECAME ERRATIC AND CAR SPUN INTO THE GUARD RAIL. NO PERSONAL INJURIES DURING THE WRECK; HOWEVER, CAR BODY DAMAGE WAS $3300. NO PREVIOUS STEERING FAILURE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCED. GM DEALERSHIP INDICATED POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (22837369) WAS CAUSE FOR STEERING FAILURE. GM DEALERSHIP REPLACED THIS MODULE TO RETURN POWER STEERING TO SERVICE AND CHARGED ME FULL COST OF PARTS AND LABOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DECREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT AN INTERSECTION THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING, CHIME SOUNDED AND "POWER STEERING" APPEARED ON THE INFO SCREEN. CAR WAS HARD TO STEER. CONTINUES TO GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHEN TURNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK FORWARD VIOLENTLY AND ACCELERATE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR ILLUMINATED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS CLEARED TWICE BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CHANGED THE OIL AND RESET THE CODE TWICE, BUT DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE CODE DISPLAYING FROM THE SENSOR. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AIRBAG NOT ON PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
HAS STRONG ODOR OF RAW FUEL, HOOKED TO TECH2 NO ERROR CODES, REPLACED GAS CAP-ISSUE NOT FIXED, AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION VISIBLE GAS LEAK FROM TOP OF THE GAS TANK. GM HAS RECALLED 2007 G5'S FOR SAME PROBLEM...THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. NO ONE WANTS A BOMB ON WHEELS ON THE ROAD. *TR
"SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING SUMMER 2013. IT WOULD TURN ON FOR A MINUTE OR SO, THEN TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL DAYS/WEEKS/MONTH. CALLED SERVICE ADVISOR AT DEALER WHO STATED THAT IF IT DIDN'T STAY ON, IT WASN'T AN ISSUE TO ADDRESS. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, IN APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY 2014, THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON ALMOST 90% OF THE TIME. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE SENSOR WEARS DOWN AFTER A WHILE, AND THAT EVEN IF WE DO REPLACE IT, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WON'T COME ON AGAIN. I EXPRESSED THAT I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, BUT THE ADVISOR & MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WILL DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, BUT THAT THE LARGEST OF THE 3 LEVELS OF FRONT AIRBAGS MAY DEPLOY RATHER THAN ONE OF THE TWO SMALLER AIRBAGS, AND THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON IN THE FRONT SEAT MAY TRIGGER THE LARGEST AIRBAG EVEN IF THEY ARE UNDERWEIGHT. AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED, I HAVE NO FAITH THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN. I SUSPECT, AS OTHERS HAVE STATED, THAT THE AIRBAGS SIMPLY WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS WOULD BE AN ODD OCCURRENCE CONSIDERING THAT WE BOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR CAR (NOT JUST THIS MODEL, BUT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE) BECAUSE IT HAS THE ADDITIONAL SIDE AIRBAGS. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, I JUST GOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE MESSAGE ON THE RADIO SCREEN POPPED UP AND SAID POWER STEERING FAILURE. I COULD NOT MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS VERY HARD TO TRY AND GET MY CAR OFF TO THE SHOULDER. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ANY FASTER OR IN THE LEFT OR MIDDLE LANES ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE BEEN HIT OR HIT SOMEONE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, GM HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT MY QUESTION IS IF I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AND THERE HAS BEEN MANY OUT THERE LIKE THIS, WHY HAVEN'T THEY SENT OUT NOTICES TO INFORM THE DRIVER OF THIS ISSUE? POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, CAUSING THE DRIVER (MY DAUGHTER) TO BE UNABLE TO STEER AND STRIKE A PARKED CAR. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. IN EARLY JUNE 2014, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GM (PONTIAC) FOR THEIR RECALL NOTICE NUMBER 14116. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN THE CRASH, AND THERE WAS NO RECOURSE ON MY PART. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BRAKES. THEN THE SECURITY LOCK ON THE DASH PANEL LIT UP, AS IF I HAD LOCKED AND ACTIVATED THE SECURITY SYSTEM VIA THE KEY FOB. I WAS STILL DRIVING, SO THERE WAS NO REASON FOR ME TO ACTIVATE THE SECURITY SYSTEM. AS I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND WENT INTO THE LEFT HAND TURN LANE, I NOTICED THAT I HAD NO POWER STEERING. WHILE WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN, THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY ACROSS THE STREET BEFORE THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF. WHEN I TRIED TO RE-START THE CAR, IT WOULDN'T START. I LET IT REST ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED AND WITHIN 30 SECONDS WENT THROUGH THE SAME SEQUENCE. ABS LIGHT, SECURITY LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT AND SHUT OFF. I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY AS THEY BOTH READ LOW ON VOLTAGE. TO THIS DAY 2/15/2014, THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING IS TO RUN A DIRECT CABLE FROM THE ALTERNATOR TO THE BATTERY. IT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY GIVE OFF THE CORRECT VOLTAGE AND WORK WITH EACH OTHER. THEY CAN NO LONGER FUNCTION SEPARATELY OF EACH OTHER. I'VE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON EDMUNDS.COM WITH NO RESPONSE FROM GM. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I INFORMED THEM I'VE HAD MY OWN TRUSTED, LOCAL MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE OTHER THEN A MASSIVE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. IT WAS TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, AND POWER ASSIST RESUMED OPERATION. THE PROBLEM REPLICATED ITSELF SEVERAL TIMES CAUSING MANY PROBLEMATIC DRIVING SITUATIONS. (2006 PONTIAC G6 GT) THE FIRST TIME I HAD TROUBLE WITH MY IGNITION & POWER STEERING WAS IN JANUARY OF 2014. I STARTED MY CAR AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKED WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. RECENTLY ON MARCH 6 2014 WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ONTO THE RADIO SCREEN. THE POWER STEERING DISABLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OVER AWAY FROM OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIFYING FEELING KNOWING I HAD NO CONTROL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN WHICH THE WHEEL WAS MOVING AND SEEMED FINE TO DRIVE. I PULLED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 35 - 40MPH AND THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT MOVE MY WHEEL AT ALL. I STOPPED PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING GOES OUT PERIODICALLY WHEN IT GETS VERY COLD OUTSIDE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SOMETIME NOW. IF THE TEMPERATURE GETS CLOSE TO FREEZING OUTSIDE THE POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF A FEW AFTER I FIRST START UP THE VEHICLE AND IF I MAKE VERY SHARP TURNS IT GOES OUT. I NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE WHEN ITS WARM OUTSIDE. GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THIS NO MATTER IF YOUR VEHICLE IS PAST 70000 MILES. THEY FAILED BY MAKING AND ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING SYSTEM IN THESE YEAR MODELS WHICH OBVIOUSLY THEY REALIZED WAS A PROBLEM SINCE THE 2007 MODELS HAVE THE TRADITIONAL POWER STEERING PUMP. *TR
