WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SILOS THEN BANGS INTO GEAR. OTHERS ON INTERNET DESCRIBE THAT IT FEELS LIKE CAR HIT FROM BEHIND. I AGREE. *TR
STRONG SMELL OF FUEL AFTER DRIVING. HESITATION WHILE STARTING COLD ENGINE. NO VISIBLE FUEL LEAK ON GROUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND SEIZED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
WIFE WAS COMING HOME AFTER WORK AND HAD TO PULL OVER DUE TO A MALFUNCTION IN THE STEERING.SHE SAID IT WAS LIKE THE CAR WAS TRYING TO DRIVE ITSELF AND FRIGHTENED HER, GIVING A POWER STEERING ALERT ON THE READOUT. SHE CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND IT SAID THE PROBLEM WAS PROBABLY LOW POWER STEERING FLUID. DON'T HAVE PUMP. IT WAS DARK AND QUITE COLD, AND WE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE CAR UNTIL DAYLIGHT AND DEAL WITH IT THEN. THE NEXT MORNING, WE WENT BACK AND THE STEERING SEEMED FINE, SO I DROVE IT HOME.SHORTLY, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED JERKING LIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. I SLOWED TO AROUND 40MPH, AND WRESTLED IT HOME. I TELL YOU, IT WAS FREAKY. WHEN I GOT HOME MY HANDS WERE CRAMPING FROM HOLDING ON TO IT SO IT COULDN'T JUMP OUT OF MY LANE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN BEDFORD, VA, HAD THE CAR TOWED THERE. THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING,CLEARED THE CODES, TIGHTENED AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING ELSE. WE ASKED IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, THEY SAID IT IS RIGHT NOW, SO WE DROVE IT HOME. 3 WEEKS LATER COMING HOME FROM WORK, SHE LOST POWER STEERING ALTOGETHER,THE DEALERSHIP SAID OUR CAR WASN'T IN THE RECALL, AND WHILE THEY WERE SORRY, THEY'D BE HAPPY TO CHECK IT OUT AND GIVE AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. WE DISCUSSED THE RECALL AND HOW THIS WAS VERY SIMILAR. THE NEXT DAY, I STARTED THE CAR AND THERE WAS A TOTAL LACK OF POWER STEERING. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO HAVE IT CHECKED. (IT'S NOTHING LIKE A REGULAR VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING. I CAN SEE HOW SOMEONE INEXPERIENCED COULD SCREW UP EASILY). SHOP SAYS TROUBLESHOOTING TELLS THEM TO REPLACE STEERING COLUMN. EXPENSIVE, AND FOR A CAR THE WHOLE FAMILY IS AFRAID TO DRIVE. I DON'T TRUST IT EITHER. SAME ISSUES, BUT NO RECALL, AND NO HELP. THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THEIR TECHNOLOGY,OR LACK OF IT. SHOULDN'T PUT THESE WEAPONS IN THE HANDS OF THE PUBLIC IF THEY'RE APT TO GO OFF ON THEIR OWN. *TR
LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY. THANK GOODNESS I WAS DRIVING INSTEAD OF MY WIFE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY TO HAVE IT FIXED BY A CERTIFIED GM DEALER. I CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS VIN. AFTER ANOTHER CALL, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE UPCOMING RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR MODEL AND THAT I WOULD BE RECEIVING A REIMBURSEMENT FORM IN APRIL OF 2014, WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. UPON MULTIPLE CALLS, I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY MY LOCAL GM DEALER WHO ALSO TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THIS VIN.I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR FIXING AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL. GM IS USING SOME VERY SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES........AND ALL OF THIS AFTER HAVING IT TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SIX MONTHS EARLIER FOR A TOTAL ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION, WHICH SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED AS WELL.... *TR
I CHECKED MY VIN ON MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 TO SEE WHAT RECALLS POPPED UP. MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER ANY OF THE RECALLS FOR POWER STEERING, AIR BAGS, OR SEAT BELTS BUT I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES. MY POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING RANDOMLY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WILL WORK AGIAN. JUST YESTERDAY THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID SERVICE AIR BAGS. ALSO THE SENSOR FOR THE SEAT BELTS WILL SOMETIMES NOT WORK. THE BELL WILL CONTINUOUSLY DING TO ALERT YOU THAT THE SEAT BELT IS NOT BUCKLED AND IT ACTUALLY IS. FUNNY THING IS, MY CAR HAS HAD NONE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT IT IS UNDER RECALL FOR AND ALL OF THE PROBLEMS IT'S NOT UNDER RECALL FOR. I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AND THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. I AM AFRAID TO PUT THEM IN THIS CAR AND DRIVE ANYWHERE WITH THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THERE WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE STEERING COMPONENT HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAD EXCEEDED THE REQUIRED MILEAGE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,424.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
SOMETIMES (RANDOMLY) THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE IS NOT BEING PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IF I PRESS THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ACTUALLY GO OFF EVEN THOUGH I'M BRAKING. WHEN THIS BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM OCCURS, THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION ALSO DOES NOT WORK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER RETURNING FROM A SHORT TRIP, I NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR. AFTER CHECKING UNDER NEATH THE CAR. GASOLINE SEEPAGE WAS OBSERVED ON THE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK. (NOT FILLER NECK) AFTER DROPPING THE CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE IT WAS PURCHASED, THE FAULTY PART WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FUEL PUMP NIPPLE WAS LEAKING.THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED FOR A MERE $998.75. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE TANK AND IS TOTALLY PROTECTED AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
GAS SMELL COMING FOR THE CAR, OBVIOUS GAS LEAK AROUND FUEL TANK. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THE 2007 AND NEWER MODELS BUT NOT THE 2006. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

FUEL PUMP LINE CRACKED AT PUMP HAD BAD SMELL ALL THE TIME AND MILEAGE WAS MUCH LOWER SO DROPPED FUEL TANK AND NOTICED TOP OF TANK VERY WET AND SPOTTED LEAK AT FUEL OUTLET LINE , TOUCHED FITTING AND PULLED OFF WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND FAILED DUE TO A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,893.
STEERING WHEEL STARTED JERKING AND THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT. HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT BACK ON AND NOW IT DOES IT DAILY. NEEDS REPAIRED AND I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THERE MAY BE A SPECIAL WARRANTY TO GET IT REPAIRED. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME MY NOT BE EXACT BECAUSE I REALLY DIDN'T LOOK AT THAT AT THE TIME. *TR
WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON OHIO RTE. 33 (AT 70 MPH) ON 11/27/2013 , MY CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AND WOULD NOT RE-ENGAGE. I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT AVAILABLE EXIT, SHUT OFF MY CAR FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS, AND RESTARTED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS AGAIN OPERATIONAL. GIVEN SUCH AN ISOLATED INCIDENT, I DISMISSED MY CONCERN. HOWEVER, ON 12/16/2013, I WAS DRIVING EASTBOUND ON I-70 (AGAIN AT 70 MPH) AND MY CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN DISENGAGED. I NOTICED RIGHT AWAY AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO KEEP MY SPEED UP. THE THREE VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY BEHIND ME, INCLUDING ONE TRACTOR-TRAILER AND A VEHICLE OPERATED BY ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS, NOTICEABLY SLOWED DOWN TO ADD FOLLOWING DISTANCE. MY CELL PHONE RANG, AND MY PASSENGER ANSWERED AND PUT THE CALL ON SPEAKERPHONE. MY FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON AND INDICATED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON, ALTHOUGH NO PRESSURE WAS BEING APPLIED. APPARENTLY, THIS IS THE REASON THAT THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME WERE SLOWING DOWN - THEY THOUGHT I WAS SLOWING DOWN, EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT! I PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT TO AGAIN SHUT OFF AND RESTART MY CAR. MY PASSENGER CLAIMED THAT SOMETHING SMELLED HOT (POSSIBLY BRAKES), ALTHOUGH I CANNOT OFFER VERIFICATION OF THIS. AFTER RESTARTING AND RE-ENTERING I-70, CRUISE CONTROL WORKED AND BRAKE LIGHTS WERE REPORTED BY FOLLOWING FAMILY MEMBERS TO WORK PROPERLY. *TR
ON 11/26/2013, AFTER I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN I HEARD A POP AND LOST POWER STEERING. I WAS TURNING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH 3 LANES IN EITHER DIRECTION, WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER STEERING AND I ENDED UP IN THE FAR LEFT HAND LANE WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE RIGHT LANE. THE CARS BESIDE AND BEHIND ME (TRAVELING 40MPH) WERE ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT ONLY RUNNING OVER A CURB. MY VEHICLE WAS/STILL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWER STEERING MODULE POWER LOSS RECALL. NO ERROR CODES WERE FOUND AFTER I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP LOCALLY AND I WAS CHARGED $400 FOR AN IGNITION SWITCH THAT WAS "LOOSE" TO SEE IF THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. ON 10/9/2014, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN I WAS TRAVELING 50 MPH WITH MY INFANT SON IN THE CAR AND WE ALMOST CRASHED AS I WENT OFF THE ROAD. I HEARD A LOUD POP AND ALL POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS LOST. *TR
TRAVELING WEST ON I-20 AND MY CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED FOR NO REASON AND I REALIZED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON. I TRIED SEVERAL THINGS, BUT THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND DO NOT SIGNAL TO OTHER DRIVERS THAT I AM COMING TO A STOP, WHICH IS QUITE DANGEROUS. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL THINGS INCLUDING CHECKING RECALL STATUS, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I ALSO OFTEN HAVE ISSUES GETTING MY CAR OUT OF PARK, HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE A LITTLE HARDER THAN NORMAL. *TR
HAD THE CAR CHECK BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, COULDN'T DETECT. NOW IT'S DOING THE SAME THING AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF AND THE POWER RETURNED ONCE THE CAR WAS BACK ON. TODAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2013, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT FLASHED AGAIN. I RECALLED GETTING A LETTER A WHILE BACK, IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST DO A RECALL. IN THE EVENT YOU HAVE TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED THEN YOU CAN SUBMIT A CLAIM FORM. WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST RECALL THE CAR. I HAVE MY CAR SINCE 2005 AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICE ON A REGULAR BASICS TO ASSURE THAT IT IS IN PROPERTY WORKING CONDITIONS. I'VE KEPT THE OIL CHANGE, BRAKE REPAIRS, ETC. NOW THE STEERING IS GIVING A PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AND PARKING, BOTH CAR INTERIOR AND TRUNK SMELLED STRONGLY OF GAS. CHECKED PAVEMENT UNDER CAR FOR LEAKING GAS, BUT DID NOT SEE ANY. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ON SUBSEQUENT DRIVES WITH THE SMELL DETECTED WHILE DRIVING. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE THE GAS SMELL IS SO STRONG AND I AM AFRAID OF A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OTHER PONTIAC G6 OWNERS WHO HAVE IDENTIFIED SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN TRACED TO A HARD PLASTIC FUEL LINE THAT COMES OUT OF THE FUEL PUMP AT THE GAS TANK. THE CAR IS NOW PARKED UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED...TOO RISKY TO DRIVE. ALL OF THIS COMBINED WITH THE CAR'S HISTORY OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ISSUES ARE JUST WAY TOO MUCH. I CANNOT RELY ON THE CAR FOR TRANSPORTATION AT ALL, AND IT IS APPARENTLY WORTHLESS AS A TRADE-IN.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT PRESSED AND TURN OFF WHEN BRAKES ARE PRESSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EMIT A GASOLINE ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING NEAR THE MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
FUEL PUMP WENT OUT, THESE PARTS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST A LOT LONGER THAN THIS. FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE TOP RIGHT SIDE OF THE GAS TANK. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND FOUND IT WAS A CHEAP PLASTIC PART ON THE FUEL PUMP. UNFORTUNATELY THE PLASTIC PART IS PART OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND A TOTALLY NEW FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC REPORTED THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH THE G6 MODELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE RADIO ALARM BEEPED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF RESTART THE VEHICE AND RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,426.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED MAKING THE STEERING WHEEL VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES BEFORE THE DEFECT REOCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THAT THE SAME DEFECT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. JFT
THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY VEHICLE HAD COMPLETELY LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS TRYING TO TURN ON TO A BUSY HIGHWAY. I HAD TO DRIVE STRAIGHT ACROSS A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY SO I COULD SAFELY STOP TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON SO THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD UNLOCK. I WAS TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL THAT GM HAD PUT OUT BACK IN 2010 BECAUSE OF THE EXACT SAME POWER STEERING ISSUES. AFTER BEING TOLD BY TWO DEALERSHIPS THAT MY CAR DID NOT FIT THE CRITERIA BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBERS. I THEN DECIDED TO CALL GMS PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE TO VOICE MY CONCERNS AND ASK WHY A VEHICLE THAT IS DOING THE SAME THING THEY RECALLED VEHICLES FOR CAN'T FALL UNDER THEIR RECALL AND SERVICE BULLETIN THEY ISSUED. AFTER TALKED TO SOMEONE FOR QUITE A WHILE AND CONTINUED TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN WATT AVENUE AND SUDDENLY MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE WHEEL BUT THANKFULLY I WAS JUST GOING STRAIGHT AND NOT TURNING. THE PROBLEM HAS SINCE GONE AWAY BUT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED AND I SUSPECT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE CONDUCTED RESEARCH ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER DRIVERS, DRIVING A PONTIAC VEHICLE AND IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING WITHIN THIS VEHICLE AND I URGE THE NHTSA TO FOLLOW UP AGAIN ON THEIR INVESTIGATION A FEW YEARS AGO AND DEMAND A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR. CONSIDERING THE POWER STEERING WAS BUILT INTO THE TRANSMISSION, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT CAN'T JUST BE FIXED BY ADDING POWER STEERING FLUID. PARKING AND TURNING AT LOW SPEED NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY FOR STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT PER TSB. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THIS FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND THAT IT MIGHT BE THE PS MOTOR. AM BEING TOLD THE PS MOTOR IS NOT COVERED BY TSB, NOR IS THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE, BUT GM SHOULD COVER AS I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS. *TR

I AM EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY STAYING ON WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT ISN'T PRESSED AND THEN TURNING OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2005 AND 2006 G6'S BUT OF COURSE MY VIN WASN'T COVERED. IN FACT, I TALKED TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP FROM GM AND SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF THERE WERE RECALLS OF THE 2005 2006 G6'S FOR THIS PROBLEM AND VERBATIM I RECEIVED "NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE". I JUST FINISHED TALKING WITH THAT GM REP LESS THAN 10 MINUTES AGO. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WORKING FOR GM HASN'T HEARD ABOUT THIS RECALL? I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. THERE ARE A FEW COMMON ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALL CONNECTED TO THE STEERING COLUMN APPARENTLY. IT STARTED WITH THE KEY NOT WANTING TO MOVE, FIRST TO START THE CAR AND THEN NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE RADIO FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. THE LATEST IS THAT THE POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. I'VE RESEARCHED DIFFERENT SITES AND IT SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM AND CONNECTED TO THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. I'M TOLD BY MECHANICS IT IS A PROBLEM IN ALMOST ALL G-6'S IN 2006-2007 THAT HAVE THE POWER ASSIST STEERING. SINCE IT IS SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE, WHY IS IT NOT BEING RECALLED? *TR
POWER STEERING LOSS HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED TWICE IN THE PAST NINE DAYS. AN AUDIBLE CHIME SOUNDS AND THE DIC INDICATES POWER STEERING. STEERING BECAME VERY RIGID AND I SWERVED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THE LOSS. SHUT THE CAR OFF, STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT SEEMS FINE. BELOW IS WHAT HAPPEN TO MY 2006 G6 PONTIAC ON01/23/2014, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 60 MPH THE CHIME WENT OFF ON MY RADIO/DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) AND I LOST MY POWER STEERING ALMOST CRASHED INTO A BRICK WALL. GM IS STATING THEY NEED A LETTER FROM YOU IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST/ DURING THIS INVESTIGATION, GENERAL MOTORS (GM) INDICATED THAT APPROXIMATELY 15,600 MODEL YEAR (MY) 2005 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES BUILT FROM NOVEMBER 3, 2004 THROUGH JANUARY 5, 2005 MAY EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST DUE TO AN INSUFFICIENT CRIMP AT THE TORQUE AND POSITION SENSOR TRANSDUCER LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY. GM HAS INDICATED THAT IT PLANS TO SEND LETTERS TO THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES TO INFORM THEM THAT IT WILL EXTEND THE WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THE EPS SYSTEM IN THEIR VEHICLES TO 7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE FAILURES IN THE POPULATION AFFECTED BY THE WIRING CRIMP PROBLEM INDICATE THAT THE PROBLEM IS AN EARLY LIFE FAILURE THAT SHOULD OCCUR WITHIN THE TERMS OF THE EXTENDED COVERAGE. GM'S INVESTIGATION OF EPS FAILURES IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM WITH THE CONNECTOR CRIMPS DURING THE TWO MONTH PRODUCTION RANGE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. DURING THIS PERIOD THE CRIMPS MAY BE ASYMMETRICAL, RESULTING IN INADEQUATE PRESSURE ON THE WIRE THAT CAN LEAD TO ELECTRICAL NOISE IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE SENSOR TO THE CONTROLLER. THE CONTROLLER MAY INTERPRET THIS ELECTRICAL NOISE AS A MALFUNCTION OF THE SYSTEM AND DEFAULT TO MANUAL MODE (I.E., TURN OFF THE EPS SYSTEM). *TR

THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS SEVERELY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. WHEN I AM AT A STOP AND PUSH THE GAS TO GO THE CAR HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING. USUALLY THE SPEED IS BETWEEN 0-15 MPH. I HAVE STOPPED PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ANY CAR BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ENOUGH SPEED TO GO FAST ENOUGH AND IT'S GOING TO CAUSE A WRECK. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR LOOKED AT BY A TRANSMISSION MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THERE ISN'T ANYTHING SHOWING AS WRONG, I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO A DEALER AND AGAIN THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT SUSPECTED AN ISSUE TO BE MODULE OR SOLENOID THAT WOULD COST OVER $1500 TO FIX AND THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT IS THE ISSUE. BOTH MECHANICS DROVE THE CAR, COULD FEEL THE ISSUE BUT COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THERE IS AN HORRIBLE ISSUE WITH THE CAR AND NO ONE CAN PIN POINT WHAT THE ISSUE IS. AND NOW THE SEAT WARMER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE KEEPS TURNING ON BY ITSELF. *TR
