THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD RESUME NORMAL FUNCTION ONCE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STRAIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING FUEL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE AND BURNING SMELL COMING FROM FRONT GRILL OF CAR. FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. WIRE HARNESS TO HEADLIGHT HAS CAUGHT FIRE/MELTED. BULB IS NOT BURNED OUT. *TR
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND OFF AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE. WHEN A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT THE AIRBAG DOES NOT SHOW AS BEING ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE FIXED AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE CAME ON AND NOW DOESN'T GO OFF. CALLED ARBORGAST TO TELL THEM THE PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED... THEY WANT ME TO PAY AGAIN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND TRY TO FIND THE ISSUE. THERE IS MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE CONCERNING THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING DURING AN ACCIDENT OR DEPLOYING FOR NO REASON CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE REPAIRS AREN'T FIXING THE AIRBAG ISSUE. I HAVE A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE I AM SCARED TO DRIVE AND I DON'T WANT MY YOUNG TEEN DRIVING! I'M SCARED MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WHILE I'M DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT KILLING MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHER INNOCENT DRIVERS. THE PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED TIMEFRAME FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON & OFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, TOOK TO DEALER & STATED NEW MODULE NEEDED $660. SEEMS TO BE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. *TR
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE NEW. ALL SERVICE WORK WAS PERFORMED ON TIME. 6T70 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. NO WARNING AND SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. NONE OF THE DRIVE GEARS WOULD WORK. LUCKY WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT. WE WERE TRAVELING ON A SECONDARY ROAD AT 45 MPH AND COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED! TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY WANTED $800 TO DIAGNOSE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. CALLED GM CUSTOMER RELATIONS, BUT THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. CAR HAD 5 YEAR 100K WARRANTY, BUT MY CAR WITH LOW MILEAGE WAS TOO OLD. THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME $3300 FROM A PRIVATE SHOP. GM PRODUCTS ARE TERRIBLE. THIS 6T70 TRANSMISSION IS IN GMC ACADIA, BUICK ENCLAVE, CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, FORD EXPLORER, AND SEVERAL OTHER GM/FORD MODELS. SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR BAD RELIABILITY AND SAFETY! *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 PONTIAC G6 NEW FOR MY DAUGHTER, SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 80 MPH WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT ON I-15 NEAR MALAD IDAHO AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON AT ALL. LUCKILY NO CRASH FOLLOWED BUT EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN. GM HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET OR EVEN OFFERED TO FIX THE CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IF THERE HAD BEEN AN INJURY THEY WOULD HAVE EASILY BEEN DEEMED LIABLE AND BUT WITH NO INJURY THEY FIGURE NO FOUL. THAT COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED MY DAUGHTER. NOW WE HAVE A CAR THAT WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE SINCE IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
BOUGHT A USED 2008 PONTIAC G6 ONE WEEK AGO. IT HAD AN OPEN RECALL--13036. THIS WAS A BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION WHICH COULD ALSO AFFECT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL (DISABLING THEM). ALSO POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WERE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON WHEN ACCELERATING AND GOING OFF WHEN BRAKING. THIS ALSO AFFECTS THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE SHIFTER. HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE TODAY, OCTOBER 3, 2014. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME, BRAKE LIGHTS WERE CONTINUOUSLY ON, CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK, AND TRACTION CONTROL AND ESC WERE DISABLED. THIS AFTER GM'S RECALL. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN 07/2013 WITH APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE GROUND CONNECTOR ON THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS MELTED AND THE LIGHT WOULD NOT WORK. THE CONNECTION WAS CLEANED AND THE BULB WAS REPLACED. THE HEADLIGHT AGAIN WENT OUT AROUND 10/2014 WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAVING ADDITIONAL MELTING AT THE BULB CONNECTOR AND CORROSION ON THE WIRES. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET WAS REPLACED. IT STOPPED WORKING LESS THAN 1 WEEK LATER. THE HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS BEEN MELTED AND BOTH THE SOCKET/BULB NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE SPEED REDUCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
LETTER FROM SENATOR DURBIN ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE GM RECALLS. *SMD 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO TURN IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, ON ITS OWN. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PART IN QUESTION, IS CALLED THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE AND THE PART ALONE COST $400. *JB
THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS AND IS OUT AGAIN AFTER ONLY TWO MONTHS. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN THE CAR IN AGAIN, BUT WILL ASK FOR FURTHER INSPECTION OF PROBLEM THIS TIME! *TR
IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 MY VEHICLE (2008 PONTIAC G6) WAS INVOLVED IN A SERVER ACCIDENT WHEN I WAS ON THE I-75 INTERSTATE MERGING ONTO THE I-20 RAMP WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE UPON BRAKING AND JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN LOSS OF ALL CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. I HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND ONE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED AS WELL. THE CITY OF ATLANTA IS WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.

IN 2014, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE SECOND FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,384.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO A TREE. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER WAS KILLED ON IMPACT. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A COLLAPSED LUNG, BROKEN SHOULDER AND INJURIES TO THE ARM AND HEAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
REPLACED BLOWN PASSENGER HEADLIGHT (LOWBEAM), THEN NOTICED THAT THE WIRING TO THE LIGHT WAS MELTED WITH A BURNING SMELL. ALSO SEVERAL ERROR CODES FOR AIRBAG, ENGINE, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ILLUMINATE ON DASH. DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE. *TR
BRAKES HAVE A WARPED FEEL. BRAKES HAVE PEDAL FADE, ONCE THE WARPED FEELING SHOWS BRAKES GRAB AND RELEASE AS THE WARPED AREA GOES AROUND. HAVE REPLACED BRAKES APPROXIMATELY EVERY 10,000 TO 15,000 MILES SINCE THE FIRST REPAIR AT 71,000 MILES. CAR NOW HAS 151,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS TIME FOR IT'S SIXTH SET OF BRAKES (BOTH ROTORS AND PADS). I HAVE SEEN THIS TO BE A LARGE TREND AMONG OTHER G6 OWNERS. *TR
SERVICE AIR BAG APPEARS ON INFORMATION CENTER.ALSO INDICATES AIR BAGS , DISABLED.AND AUTO LIGHTS OFF KEEPS COMING ON.SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL APPEARS OFF AND ON.WE HAVE HAD 18 MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY IN SEPTEMBER 2014. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT OPDS MODULE WAS FAULTY. HE SAID THE COST TO REPLACE THE SEAT BOTTOM WOULD BE AROUND $750 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. HE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS INTERNAL AND NOT A RESULT OF ANY DAMAGE THAT I OR A PASSENGER IN THAT SEAT COULD HAVE CAUSED. I WOULD HOPE TO SEE GM ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HEARD THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM 2 OTHER GM VEHICLE OWNERS. I KNOW THAT SEEMS LIKE A VERY SMALL NUMBER, BUT I LIVE IN A TOWN THAT HAS A POPULATION OF 500 PEOPLE. I'M SURE THERE ARE MORE GM VEHICLE OWNERS IN THE U.S. EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. LIVES COULD BE LOST IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS NOT GOING TO DEPLOY DURING A CRASH IF THE SENSOR INSIDE THE SEAT IS FAULTY. THE SEAT BOTTOM IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. I AM A VERY LOYAL GM OWNER. I OWN A 1997 GMC 3500 TRUCK, A 2001 CHEVY MONTE CARLO, A 2006 CHEVY HHR AS WELL AS THIS 2008 PONTIAC G6. LASTLY, EVEN MY RV IS A CHEV. I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE TRADITION ALIVE AS A PROUD GM OWNER. PLEASE HELP TO START THE PROCESS OF GETTING THIS SAFETY ISSUE ADDRESSED. *TR
HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS) BEGAN TO FLICKER BEFORE COMPLETELY GOING OUT A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING. REPLACED THE BULBS AND CHECKED THE FUSES. EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE A FEW MONTHS LATER WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE. REPLACED BOTH HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLIES. SIX MONTHS LATER THE SAME ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF BUT WITH BOTH LOW BEAMS AND HIGH BEAMS. BOUGHT NEW BULBS AGAIN AND THEY ONLY SURVIVED A FEW MONTHS BEFORE GOING OUT COMPLETELY. SERIOUS DRIVING HAZARD AND INCONVENIENT DRIVE-TIME CONSTRICTION, CONSIDERING THAT I HAVE TO PLAN MY DRIVING AROUND DAYLIGHT HOURS AND HOPE IT DOESN'T RAIN. I BELIEVE IT IS THE WIRING HARNESS CAUSING THE ISSUE DUE TO POOR DESIGN OF WIRES BEING TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND CAUSING A SHORT. FOG LIGHTS AND PARKING LIGHTS STILL WORK CONSISTENTLY.
AT HUTCHINSON MALL, THE CAR WAS BEING PARKED WHEN THE GEARSHIFT WERE PLACED IN PARK THE GEARSHIFT MOVED FREELY, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT FROM CONKLIN IN HUTCHINSON, PLAGUED BY PROBLEMS. CONKLIN'S "[XXX]" CAME AND DROVE THE CAR FROM THE LOT. WE WERE CHARGED OVER $200 TO REPLACE THE SHIFT CABLE. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A FAULT ON THE G6 THAT MUST BE REPAIRED FREE. CONKLIN REPLACED THIS WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM US AND DID NOT WANT TO RELEASE THE CAR WITHOUT PAYMENT. WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GAVE OUT. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THERE WAS LOTS OF SMOKE AS WELL. AFTER HAVING IT LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC WE WERE TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE IS TOO CLOSE TO THE MANIFOLD AND BURNED A HOLE THROUGH IT. HE SAID IT IS AN UNSAFE DESIGN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY, EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING BUT CAR CONTINUED TO RUN THOUGH ROUGHLY. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE. TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND CAR ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING BUT ALL THE DASH LIGHTS STAYED ON AND BLOWER MOTOR CONTINUED TO RUN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THE FUSIBLE LINK FAILED BETWEEN THE ALTERNATOR AND THE STARTER. WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE RECALL (13036) FOR BCM VOLTAGE FLUCTUATION. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED RECALL REPAIR BUT VEHICLE HAD TO BE BROUGHT BACK A 2ND TIME TO RECALIBRATE THE BCM. *TR
MY WIFE, MY CHILD, AND I WERE ON OUR WAY HOME WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRACTION CONTROL ON MY WIFE'S 2008 PONTIAC G6 STOPPED WORKING WHILE ROUNDING A SHARP CORNER GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN JUST A FEW MILES FROM MY HOME. THE CAR SLID SIDEWAYS TO THE LEFT MID TURN AND LEFT US COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS ACROSS BOTH LANES. I WAS IN A PANIC AS IT HAPPENED SO FAST, BEFORE I COULD REACT A LARGE TRUCK ROUNDED THE CORNER COMING UP THE HILL, HE QUICKLY HIT HIS BREAK AND VEERED TOWARD THE DITCH, LUCKILY HE WAS ABLE TO STOP ABOUT 3 FOOT FROM THE SIDE OF OUR CAR. HIS PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WENT OFF THE ROAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP BEFORE HITTING US. AFTER TAKING A DEEP BREATH AND PRAISING THE LORD FOR SPARING OUR LIVES I QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT BACK ON AND NOTICED THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING HAD TURNED OFF. AFTER QUICKLY CHECKING WITH THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE WAS ALRIGHT, WE PROCEEDED HOME IN THE DEATH TRAP WE CALL OUR VEHICLE. IT WAS THE SINGLE MOST SCARIEST MOMENT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. ONE MONTH PRIOR (IN JULY) I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (RECALL 13036) FROM GENERAL MOTORS THAT STATES THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE SOLUTION. THEY CLAIM THE STABILITY CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL, ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING CRUISE CONTROL, PANIC BRAKING, AND PARK SHIFTER MAY DISABLE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHTS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN PEDAL IS PUSHED AND WILL STAY ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT IN USE CREATING AN EXTREME RISK FOR A REAR COLLISION. AGAIN THEY STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION FOR US WHILE WE WAIT FOR THEM TO GET PARTS. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN LATE JULY TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THE EXACT THING THE RECALL STATES. AGAIN, OFFERING NO SOLUTION OR EVEN A RENTAL CAR FOR MY FAMILY. *TR

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BURN TO THE LEFT ARM FROM THE AIR BAG AND CHEST PAIN BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) AND BELIEVED IT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I HAVE A 2008 PONTIAC G6 THAT CONSTANTLY HAS ISSUES WHERE THE LOW BEAM BULBS WILL BURN OUT. IT KEPT GETTING WORSE AS I WAS REPLACING THEM EVERY 8-9 MONTHS. I JUST WENT TO GO TAKE OUT THE BURNED ONE THE OTHER DAY ONLY TO FIND THAT THE WHOLE SOCKET THE BULB IS CONNECTED TO WAS COMPLETELY MELTED ALONG WITH A NASTY BURN SMELL EMITTING FROM THE BACK OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THANKFULLY GM GAVE ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR SURROUNDING ELECTRICAL ISSUES SO MY CAR IS BEING FIXED MY A LOCAL GM SHOP THIS COMING WEEKEND. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SERIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE OTHER G6 OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THESE PONTIAC G6 CARS AND GM NEEDS TO REIMBURSE EACH OF US FOR THE FULL PRICE WE PAID ON THESE VEHICLES. OF YOU COMPARE THE AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS ON THIS CAR VS ALL OTHER CARS ON THE MARKET, THIS ONE BY FAR HAS THE MOST COMPLAINTS ON THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY SITE. OF I HAD THE MONEY I WOULD BUY A NEW CAR THAT IS NOT AMERICAN. I HATE MY CAR SO MUCH. I HATE GM FOR MAKING ME DRIVE SUCH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. DRIVING CAR STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO JERK TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. FELT LIKE THERE WERE DETENTS IN THE FEEL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS SHAKING TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. LATER STOPPED AND PARKED AT HOME AND WHILE CAR WAS AT REST THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MOVE TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT BY IT'S SELF. DROVE CAR ON 8/7/14 FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AND IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL DUE TO THE WHEEL JERKING. *TR

FIRST INCIDENT I STOPPED IN FRONT OF MY HOME THE CAR LOCKED UP ON JULY 30TH 2014 I HAD TO PUSH IT TO THE CURB AND COULD NOT DRIVE IT TO WORK. SECOND INCIDENT AUGUST 16TH 2014 I WAS TAKING MY WIFE TO DINNER AND I STOP AT A STOP LIGHT, CAR WENT DEAD, COULD NOT GET IT TO GO INTO ANY GEAR, THE CAR WOULD NOT START TOOK 1 HOUR BEFORE MY VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO GEAR. NO DINNER FOR MY WIFE AND MY SELF. I NEED THIS RECALL MATTER TO BE RESOLVED. THIS MY TRANSPORTATION TO WORK. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-480, IN THE STATE OF OHIO, THE BRAKES ON MY G6 WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THIS HAPPENED UNTIL I EXITED THE FREEWAY, AND A MAN WHO WAS TRAVELING BEHIND ME TOLD ME WHAT HE OBSERVED. MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON AS I DROVE; AND NOT ON WHILE BRAKING (EXACTLY OPPOSITE OF HOW BRAKE LAMPS SHOULD OPERATE). I WENT HOME, TESTED THE BRAKES AGAIN, AND THEY DID EXACTLY AS HE SAID. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED, THE BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT GO ON. I REPEATED THE SAME ACTION 3 TIMES AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN TO WORK PROPERLY. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM DATED JULY 2014 APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO. THE HEADING OF THE LETTER STATES, "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL." UPON RECEIPT OF THE LETTER, I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT RECALL 13036. ALTHOUGH THE LETTER PLAINLY STATES THAT MY CAR IS RECALLED, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED I MUST WAIT UNTIL THEY HAD THE INFORMATION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD NOT BEEN AN ISSUE AT THE TIME, AND I WAS WILLING TO WAIT. HOWEVER, I HAD EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGING, AND I TURNED IT OFF, AND DID NOT USE IT AGAIN, AS I FOUND THAT TO BE AN EASILY REMEDIED PATCH. THE RECALL INCLUDES THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, WHICH AFFECTS BOTH THE CRUISE CONTROL AND MY BRAKES. I CALLED GM TODAY AND THEY GOT IN TOUCH WITH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO GAVE ME A RENTAL CAR TO USE TODAY UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. UPON RETURNING HOME, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP ADVISING GM MAY NOT PAY FOR THE RENTAL. GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. MY TWO CHILDREN AND I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN RUN OVER BY A SEMI TRUCK WHILE TRAVELING ON THIS BUSY FREEWAY. GM IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND I HOPE NO LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE. WAS BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT, I STOPPED AND TRIED TO PLACE IT IN DRIVE WHEN THE SHIFTER SUDDENLY DROPPED STRAIGHT DOWN AND THE CAR STARTED COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD. HITTING THE BREAKS AND E BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. MY FRIEND AND HIS NEIGHBOR CAME AND HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. FRIEND WHO'S A LICENSED MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE CAR, CHECKED THE SHIFTED AND MENTIONED THE LINK CABLE HAD SNAPPED WHICH IS WHY THE CAR WAS STUCK IN REVERSE. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER SINCE IT'S STUCK IN REVERSE. THE SHIFTER WILL NOT PUT THE TRANSMISSION BACK INTO PARK . DOING A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH I FOUND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE MODEL OF CAR (14152) BUT GM HAS NOT PLACED MY VIN AS A CONCERN. *JS
WAS DRIVING AND, CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND KEPT MISSING GEARS. RPMS WERE UP, EXHAUST WAS UP BUT CAR WOULD NOT CATCH AND WHEN I WAS GOING TO PARK MY CAR IN THE GARAGE MY CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE AT ALL, SO I HAD TO PUSH IT INTO THE GARAGE. UPON SPEAKING WITH SEVERAL PONTIAC G6 OWNERS, IT IS SAID THAT THE 3,5 R WAVE PLATE WAS VERY WEAK, WHICH MADE THIS TRANSMISSION PRONE TO FAILURE IN GM PRODUCTS. UPDATED WAVE PLATES WERE RELEASED FOR CLUTCHES IN 6T70, THE OLD DESIGN WAVE PLATES WEREN'T STRESS RELIEVED AND COULD BREAK WITH USE. FOR IT JUST BEING A $10 PART THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT I WOULD NEED TO GET A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH COSTS 2-3K. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ANYONE GETS HURT. *JS
MY HIGHLIGHTS NO LONGER WORKED EVEN AFTER CHANGING BULBS AND LOW BEAMS WOULD GO ON AND OFF. CONNECTIONS WERE MELTED ON THE HEADLIGHT WIRING ENDS. I REPLACED ENTIRE HEADLIGHT UNITS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON AUTO FORUMS. I FEARED THAT THIS FAULTY WIRING IN MY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES MAY CAUSE A FIRE. *JS

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND NOTICED I COULDN'T HEAR THE TURN SIGNAL CLICK. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR, I CHECK TO MAKE SURE THEY WORKED. THEY DID. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE DOOR CAN NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE AT ALL. I VERIFIED THAT IT IS AFFECTING BOTH THE RIGHT REAR AND THE LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK MECHANISMS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, AS IN A CRASH, THE REAR PASSENGERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, NOR WILL THEY BE ABLE TO BE RESCUED/REMOVED. *TR
