YOU ELECTRICAL WIRE HARNESS KEEP SHORTING OUT WHICH CAUSES THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO NOT COME ON ALSO THE TIE RODS KEEP HAVING TO BE REPLACED
FAULTY PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR FOR NO REASON THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND AFTER ABOUT A WEEK IT NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I READ ON LINE IN THE GM CAR FORUMS THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM. I NOTICED MOST 05-09 GM MODELS THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH THIS TYPE OF SENSOR. PEOPLE NOTED THE FIX IS $500 TO $1000 AND MUST BE DONE BY THE DEALER. I LIKE MANY OTHER GM OWNERS WOULD LIKE TO THINK A PROPERLY WORKING AIR BAG IS A SAFETY ISSUE. APPARENTLY THIS AIR BAG SENSOR IS A POOR DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED! THANK YOU
THE POWER STIRRING KEEPS LOCKING UP HARD TO TURN HAD A FIX PROBLEMS STILL EXIST
SEVERAL WEEKS BACK, I WAS DRIVING LOCALLY (MAYBE 35MPH) ON A CITY STREET WHEN MY BREAK LIGHTS APPEARED TO STOP WORKING. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN SOMEONE FLASHED THEIR LIGHTS AT ME. AT THE NEXT LIGHT, (I DID NOT SWITCH LANES OR STOP ABRUPTLY), ANOTHER VEHICLE HONKED AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP BEHIND ME AND THEN FLASHED THEIR LIGHTS AT ME. LATER THAT DAY I CHECKED ALL MY LIGHTS AND THEY APPEARED TO BE WORKING. I CHECKED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER AND THEY SEEMED TO BE FINE. I NEVER TOOK THE CAR TO BE FIXED, AND I KNOW MY CAR'S VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALLS. I DID NOT THINK IT WAS A BIG ISSUE UNTIL I NOTICED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WHERE OTHER PONTIACS HAVE RANDOM BREAK LIGHT FAILURE.
DRIVING LOCAL ROADS APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH THE DRIVERS SEAT OF 2008 G6 GXP (ELECTRONIC LEATHER BUCKET SEAT) BROKE FREE AND COLLAPSED ON THE RIGHT SIDE. UPON PERSONAL INSPECTION AND LATER VERIFIED BY THREE MECHANICS INCLUDING TWO GM CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP MECHANICS IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CROSS SUPPORT TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE SEAT HAD BROKEN FREE AT A WELD. THIS IN TURN CAUSED THE SEAT TO COLLAPSE DOWN AND TOWARDS THE CENTER CONSOLE. I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE SEAT BELT IS FASTENS TO THE SEAT AND NOW FREELY FLOATS WITH THE SEAT UPON MOVEMENT. IF THE FAILURE TO THIS SEAT HAD OCCURRED DURING AN ACCIDENT THE SEAT BELT WOULD HAVE BEEN ESSENTIALLY RENDERED USELESS AS THE DRIVERS SEAT FREELY MOVES. UPON INSPECTION FROM AN ENGINEERING STAND POINT THE SEAT IS SUPPORTED BY ONE WELD APPROXIMATELY 1/8" THICK BY 1/4" WIDE AT EACH END OF THE ~.060" WALL TUBE IN SUSPENSION FROM ABOVE I RAN THEORETICAL WELD CALCULATIONS AS PER ASME AND THE WELDS ARE GOOD TO AROUND 10 G'S ASSUMING ALLOY STEEL AND NO PASSENGER. (THE RECOMMENDED MET FORCE OF ANY SEAT OR SEAT BELT IN THE FORWARD POSITION PER CFR 571.207 STANDARD 207 S4.2(A) AND (B) IS 20 TIMES THE WEIGHT OF THE SEAT. THIS IS NO CONSIDERING ANY BENDING MOMENTS PER CFR 571.207 STANDARD 207 S4.2(D). THERE IS NO REASON WHY ANY DRIVERS SEAT SHOULD FAIL UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS OCCUPIED BY A PERSON OF AVERAGE BODY WEIGHT. THIS SEAT IS NOT SAFE AND MUST BE RECALLED. UPON SEVERAL HOURS OF RESEARCH I DISCOVERED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF EXACTLY THE SAME DESIGN/MANUFACTURES INADEQUACY. THESE COMPLAINTS CROSSED ALL THREE MANUFACTURES THAT USE THIS MODEL SEAT. (PONTIAC, CHEVY AND SATURN) THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THE HEATING MECHANISM SHORTING OUT OR BURNING THE SEAT. MINE DID SHORT. (NO BURNING) THE DEALERSHIPS ALL WANT ME TO REPLACE THE SEAT WITH THE SAME SEAT THAT MAY VERY WELL HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. DRIVING ON THE FWY AND SUDDENLY ALL OF MY HAZARD LIGHTS START TURNING ON AT ONCE. MY CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE, NOT EVEN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS WOULD WORK. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE LAST WAS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAD THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED. COULD IT BE THE ALTERNATOR AGAIN? I THINK NOT, I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH MY POWER WINDOWS. I AM NOT A MECHANIC BUT, I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSING A SHORTAGE.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING ALERT BEGAN TO BEEP AND THEN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND THE U JOINTS WERE FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WHILE DRIVING, I GET A POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT AND I LOSE POWER STEERING FUNCTIONS. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE SYSTEM RESETS ITSELF, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IF DRIVING OR STOPPED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE POWER STEERING BECAME FUNCTIONAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE USED CAR LOT WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. ZAYS TO ZERVICE AIRBAG
THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT KEPT GOING OUT, REPLACED IT 3 TIMES IN 1 YR. A BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSES IT TO GO OFF OR ON. TONIGHT THE DRIVER SIDE IS NOW DOING THE SAME THING. THE HIGHBEAMS WORK BUT NOT LOWBEAMS. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME VEHICLE. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE IF HUNDREDS OF 2008 PONTIAC G6 HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY PARTS ARE "MELTED AND MALFUNCTIONING" I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO CORRECT AN ISSUE THAT IS NOT A RESULT OF MY OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT BEFORE I GOT HOME TONIGHT AND I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, HAD TO PULL OVER IN A DARK AREA ON THE BACK ROAD (AGAIN UNSAFE), BANGED ON THE HOOD AND ONE CAME BACK ON. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE A RECALL ISSUED ON THIS~~A LAWSUIT AFTER A VEHICLE FATALITY OCCURS? THIS IS A PART/VEHICLE ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PONTIAC TO CORRECT--NOT ME.
I WAS DRIVING MY PONTIAC G6GT AND CAME TO A STOP SIGN. I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR REVVED AT HIGH RPM'S. I COULD NOT GO FORWARD I WAS ABLE TO GO IN REVERSE, I HAVE A 4 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT TO M1, M2, M3,M4 THEN SWITCH OVER TO DRIVE AND GO. WHEN I STOPPED AT STOP SIGN I HAD TO USE START WITH THE M1 AUTO STICK. I CALLED ONSTAR THEY RAN AN DIAGNOSTIC AN TOLD ME I HAVE A N P0523 ERROR WITH OIL PRESSURE.

EVERY TIME THIS CK RSE SHOWS UP THE TEMP GAUGE DROPS I EXPLAINED THIS TO THE DEALR ON SEVERAL OCCAISIONS THEY ASSURED ME THAT CK RSE MEANS CK REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT CENTER I DON"T HAVE REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT CENTER I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AFTER BEING SERVICED CK RSE STILL POPS UP ON RADIO CENTER AND I STILL HAVE TEMP GAUGE AND AIR PROBLEMS AND THE BODY OF MY CAR SEEMS TO LEAK WATER AROUN DOORS AND BUMPERS
I TOOK MY PONTIAC G6 INTO FREEMAN BUICK GMC IN GRAPEVINE TX TWO WEEKS AGO AND THEY PERFORMED THE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR THE EXISTING POWER STEERING FAILURE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR A WEEK NOW. YESTERDAY AS I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON A CITY STREET IN GRAPEVINE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS SUDDENLY LOST (THE CONSOLE IMMEDIATELY SHOWED THE WORDS "POWER STEERING" ON THE CONSOLE AND THE BEEPER SOUNDED). I ALMOST WRECKED THE CAR. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL MAINTENANCE I STILL EXPERIENCED LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING. I HAVE CALLED FREEMAN AND ASKED THEM TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE VISIT FOR MY CAR TO SEE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW.
WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED, NOTICED THERE IS A STRONG SCENT OF FUEL EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. IT'S POSSIBLE IT HAS CRACK AND/OR FUEL LEAK. I'VE CHECKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT FIND ANY PUDDLE OF LEAK BUT THE SMELL OF FUEL IS STRONG AND WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL, IT DISAPPEARS FASTER THAN THE NORM. THE PONTIAC G5 HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND WAS RECALLED BUT IT NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO EARLIER MODELS AS WELL.
WHEN DRIVING IN WET WEATHER DAYS AND THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER PUDDLES OF WATER ON THE ROAD THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND CAN NOT CONTINUE UNLESS I TURN THE KEY OFF AND THEN ON. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND IN CITY STREET DRIVING. ALSO, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE CAR MAKES AN UNUSUAL SOUND AND IT COMES FROM THE ABS MODULE LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

NO ACCELERATION OF THE CAR OVER 40 MPH AND WOULD SUDDENLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING THIS WAS BOTH IN THE CITY AND HIGHWAY. STRONG FUEL SMELL. LEAKAGE UNDERNEATH THE CAR. UPON DROPPING THE FUEL TANK THERE WAS FUEL SPILLED AND ACCUMULATED EVERYWHERE.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR IS UNDER THE POWER STEERING RECALL. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MYSELF MANY TIMES WITH THE POWER STEERING AUTOMATICALLY SHUTTING OFF ON ME AND THE DEALERSHIP NEVER MADE ME AWARE OF THIS RECALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. AND TWICE WHILE I WAS TRYING TO TURN.

STRONG SMELL OF FUEL WHEN GETTING CLOSE TO REAR OF CAR OR WHEN IN MY GARAGE. GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY 15-16 MPG CITY NOW CAR TAKES LONGER TIME TO START. SEEMS THIS ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF BY GMC FROM PREVIOUS YEARS...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT EITHER THE FUEL TANK WAS FRACTURED OR THERE WAS A FUEL PUMP LEAK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON / OFF FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. IN THE LAST MONTH IT HAS COME ON AND NOW WILL NOT GO OFF. I CALLED AND ASK GM SERVICE REPAIR, BUT THEY HAVE HAD ISSUES, KNOW THIS HAS TO DO WITH A PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. TO FIX IT IS AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE, AND NOT CHEEP. IF THIS ISSUES SHUTS THE WHOLE AIR BAG SYSTEM DOWN, IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. SERVICE TIRE MONITOR LIGHTS ALSO CAME ON AT SAME TIME. I WAS NOT DRIVING, CAR WAS PARKED. THERE WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT PRIOR.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT MOUNT SHORTED OUT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS THAT IT IS NOT A LOCALIZED PROBLEM, AS NUMEROUS ONLINE RESOURCES SHOW THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THIS IS A GROSS SAFETY ISSUE THAT'S BEEN PREVALENT FOR AT LEAST FOUR YEARS, AND GMC HAS FAILED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WIRING HARNESS CONNECTION TO LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT MELTED CAUSING LOW BEAM NOT TO WORK ON DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE. AFTER FINDING ISSUE INSPECTED PASSENGER SIDE AND IT IS ALSO SHOWING SIDES OF DEGRADATION. UNLESS YOU CAN FIND A HARNESS AT A SCRAP YARD YOU MUST COMPLETELY REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF OVER $300!

I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND ONE DAY THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON.
2008 PONT G6 SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARS IN DASH, AND DISPLAY ON RADIO PERIODICALLY. TYPICALLY RIGHT ON STARTUP. DOESN'T TURN OFF UNTIL KEY OFF, REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG OR TYPE OF DRIVING. USUALLY (BUT NOT ALWAYS) RESETS WHEN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART. DISCUSSION WITH DEALER AND ONLINE FORUMS ALL SAY PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR IS BAD. CONCERNED IF DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS WILL ACTUALLY DEPLOY IN EVENT OF EMERGENCY, WHETHER LIGHT IS ON OR NOT.

CONTINUOUS MELTING OF HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS / CONNECTOR CAUSING LOSS OF FRONT ILLUMINATION. MELTING OF CONNECTOR IS NOT SPECIFIC TO EITHER DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE AS IT HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH SIDES. MELTING CAUSES COMPLETE FAILURE OF FRONT ILLUMINATION UNTIL CONNECTOR IS REPLACED. REPLACEMENT OF HEADLAMP DOES NOT CORRECT PROBLEM UNTIL CONNECTOR IS ALSO REPLACED. FAILURE IS NOT SPECIFIC TO VEHICLE IN MOTION OR STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE WHENEVER IT RAINED. WATER WAS ALSO LEAKING FROM THE TRUNK NEAR THE REAR END OF THE BUMPER. WHEN THE CONTACT OPENED THE TRUNK, WATER WAS ALSO PRESENT IN THE AREA WHERE THE SPARE TIRE WAS LOCATED. THE WATER LEAKED OUT OF THE TRUNK WITHIN APPROXIMATELY THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE DEFECT WAS RELATED TO A POOR VEHICLE DESIGN, WHICH COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,291.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 2 MINS THEN IT WENT OFF. THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON LONGER WHEN I START MY CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY ANYMORE AS THE CAR IS OVER 80,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO WHAT OTHERS HAVE DISPLAYED, THE COST WOULD BE OVER A 1,000 DOLLARS TO FIX.
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE EITHER ALWAYS ON, CAUSING TRACTION CONTROL TO FAIL, OR THEY ARE ON WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED AND OFF WHEN BRAKING. THIS ALSO CAUSES CRUISE CONTROL TO NOT WORK. ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ME CAN NOT TELL WHEN I AM BRAKING. SOME 2008 G6 MODELS WERE RECALLED BUT FOR SOME REASON MY 2008 G6 HAS THIS PROBLEM AND WAS NOT RECALLED.

THE VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED LOCKED UP WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS IN ST. LOUIS NEAR THE AIRPORT AND GOING LOW SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE LOOK UP. SHE WAS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED WITH THE PROBLEMS AS STATED IN RECENT RECALL OF SIMILAR VEHICLES.. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE NUMBER 10183 WOULD PAY FOR CLAIM IF THE PROBLEM EXISTED AT 150000 MILES HOWEVER NO NOTIFICATION WAS SENT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS STEERING UNIT AND I FILL GM SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALL TO COVER ALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE NUMBER 10183 APPLIES TO THIS VI
AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND TURNING MY WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT TO DRIVE FORWARD MY CAR LOST POWER STEERING MAKING IT HARD TO MANUVER MY CAR. THEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I TURNED MY CAR ON AND PUT IT IN DRIVE AND MY POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. SIX MONTHS BEFORE I EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND MY STEERING WAS OKAY. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT THEN, BUT NOW I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I RECEIVED A NOTICE THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER. TODAY, I CALLED GM SEE IF I COULD GET MY CAR FIXED FREE OF CHARGE, BUT BECAUSE MY CAR HAD OVER 150,000 MILES THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME. I AM CONCERNED FOR SAFETY AND I BELIEVE GM NEEDS TO LENGTHEN THE TIME FRAME.

DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE VISIT AFTER LONG TRIP, WAS NOTIFIED OF EXTENSIVE WEAR & DAMAGE TO 3 OF 4 TIRES. ONE HAD STRIP OF RUBBER WRAP AROUND THE AXEL, BUST THE BOOT & BRAKES & BENT THE AXEL. ANOTHER HAD @ 5X4 INCH PIECE OF RUBBER MISSING, STEEL BELTS WERE SHINING. THIRD TIRE HAD AREAS OF SEPARATION ALL AROUND THE TIRE, MORE STEEL BELTS VISIBLE. LUCKILY THEY HELD PRESSURE & DIDN'T BLOW OUT. HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THEM ROTATED & BALANCED. IT'D BEEN 6 MONTHS SINCE THEY'D BEEN ROTATED/BALANCED -- AND ONLY 6000 MILES. ONE SERVICE GUY MENTIONED "OUTER EDGE WEAR" ON THEM, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER, AFTER LOOKING AT THE REMAINING WARRANTY/MILES LEFT, SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE SUPPOSED TO WEAR LIKE THEY WERE. THE TIRES WERE 4 YRS OLD & HAD @ 60,000MI. ON THEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BULB WAS CHANGED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE BULB, IT WAS WITNESSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
