CAME UP ON A CAR STOPPED AT STOP SIGN. I APPLIED MY BRAKE AND FELT THE BRAKE PEDAL GIVE. I DID NOT HAVE BRAKES. NO WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. I HAD TO VEER TO LEFT OF STOPPED CAR, GO AROUND STOP SIGN ONTO A HIGHWAY. VERY FEW CARS ON HIGHWAY. HAD TO LET CAR SLOW ON IT'S OWN AND WAS ABLE TO GO TWO MILES TO STOP. BRAKE FLUID POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH CAR. POSSIBLY A RUSTED BRAKE LINE. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO WARNING. NARROWLY ESCAPED BAD WRECK AND POSSIBLE DEADLY CRASH. WILL HAVE IT TOWED TO MECHANIC TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF NO BRAKES OR WARNING.
MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE BURST SUDDENLY UNDER BRAKING WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH. IT APPEARS ALL OTHER LINES ARE RUSTY AS WELL AND COULD RESULT IN ANOTHER FAILURE. I LOVE IN MINNESOTA SO SALT COULD CONTRIBUTE, BUT IT WAS DEFINITELY CORPORATE NEGLIGENCE. THE AGENCY FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS IN 2015 FOR GM TRUCKS. I THINK THIS IS A MUCH LARGER ISSUE FOR ALL W-BODY GM CARS AS WELL. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH THAT THE EXIT RAMP HAD A YEILD TURN ONTO THE NEXT ROAD INSTEAD OF A STOP. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME AND WILL KILL PEOPLE IF NOTHING IS DONE. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AND LOOK INTO THIS.
A CAR SPED OUT FROM A STOP SIGN ON MY RIGHT INTO MY LANE AND SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES TO MAKE AN ILLEGAL LEFT TURN. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. MY CAR SLOWED TO WITHIN A COUPLE OF FEET OF THEIR BUMPER AND THEN I LOST BRAKING. MY BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUED TOWARD THE FLOOR AND MY CAR CONTINUED FORWARD. THE PEDAL WENT TO WITHIN A FEW INCHES BEFORE THE FLOOR WHERE I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES "RE-ENGAGE" AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETELY STOP MY CAR WITHIN A COUPLE OF INCHES OF THEIR BUMPER. WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT THE NEXT 12 MILES TO MY HOME AND CHECKED THE STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR. IT WAS EMPTY AND THERE WAS A LINE OF BIG DROPS BEHIND MY CAR FROM WHERE I TURNED TO PARK. POURED OVER HALF A BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID IN THE NEXT DAY, PUMPED THE BRAKES. NOT BETTER. I BACKED MY CAR OUT OF THE SPACE AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE WHERE THE REAR OF MY CAR WAS AND THE RESERVOIR WAS AGAIN EMPTY. LOOKED UNDER THE BACK OF THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS WET FROM THE DRIVER SIDE TO THE MIDDLE. CAR TOWED FOR REPAIR THAT DAY AND MECHANIC FOUND RUSTED BRAKE LINE. *TR
ABS WIRING HARNESS GROUND CONDITION,TCS OFFLINE .BEARING SENSORS NEW AND IN COMPETE INSPECTION OF HARNESS FOUND FAULTY.I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INDICATIONS AND FINALLY FOUND GROUND CONDITIONS.PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH ROADS.INDICATIONS STARTED 2013 TILL PRESENT 2015
I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS PONTIC GRAND PRIX GT WINDOW MOTORS THREE ABS BRAKE BRAIN LEAKING COOLANT I HAVE SPENT OVER 3000 DOLLARS REPAIRING THIS CAR AND NOW I HAVE COOLANT LEAKING IN MY MOTOR. BY FAR THE WORST CAR I EVER HAD SHAME ON YOU GM YOU HAD TO KNOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD RECURRING FAILURE WITH HER ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. WHILE BRAKING, THE ABS AND TRACTION SERVICE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND A "GRUMBLING" SOUND CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,200. UPDATED 12/21/10*BF UPDATED 12/23/10*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NORMAL BRAKES WORK, BUT THE VEHICLE SKIDS OCCASIONALLY WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. HE STATED THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WERE NO LONGER WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HARNESS WAS VERY HARD AND BRITTLE. THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HARNESS WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE SPEED AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I PURCHASED MY CERTIFIED GM USED VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2004- 2 MONTHS LATER I HAD TO REPLACE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION 'SOLENOID' REPLACED, FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS .SOME 100+ POINT INSPECTION . IN NOV OF 2005 I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN DUE TO IMPROPER SHIFTING, THERE I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO DO A LOT OF TRANSMISSON WORK. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS. NOW IN APRIL OF 2006 MY CAR BARELY MAKES IT TO 40 MPH, CHUGGING ALL THE WAY. THE MECHANIC REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUEL PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE CHECKED-POSSIBLY REPLACED. A CAR WITH 65000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS. *JB
CONSUMER STATES OF HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS SYSTEM .DEALER WAS CONTACTED, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ON THE RIGHT FRONT WAS DAMAGED BY A FOREIGN OBJECT OR DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE SENSOR WIRING, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THIS COMPONENT SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY A SMALL SHIELD TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING. 2001 GRAND PRIX DUAL AIR, HEAT, RADIO AND CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. ABS LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. *TS ***NAR*** THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE BRAKE SWITCH HAD TO BE RE-ADJUSTED. THE EVAPORATOR CORE WAS REPLACED. *JB
