ACCELERATOR PEDAL GOT STUCK WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. AFTER MERGING INTO TRAFFIC I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR RPMS WERE CONTINUING TO GO HIGHER. INMEDIATELLY HIT ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR WAS STOPPED BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING. THEN I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED OF THE ENGINE. WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND MY HAZZARD LIGHTS ON, I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL IT RETURNED TO THE NORMAL POSITION. I RE-STARTED MY CAR AND THE PEDAL WAS AGAIN FINE. THIS HAPPENED IN DES PLAINES ILLINOIS AT AROUND 7:45 AM. NOT SURE EXACTLY HOW COLD IT WAS, BUT I GUESS IT WAS AROUND 15F. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2005 MODEL CARS FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE SPRINGS FAILING. GM RECALL 05018. I CALLED THE DEALER, BUT THEY SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS OUTSTANDING FOR MY CAR. *JS
AS I WAS DRIVING (APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE FROM HOME) I LET UP OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR BECAUSE I WAS ALMOST READY TO TURN O TO MY DESTINATION, WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE BEGAN REVVING UP AND THE ACCELERATOR WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE RPM NEEDLE WENT UP TO 7 AND IT SOUNDED AS IF THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO BLOW. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WAS SCOOTING AS IF IT WAS STILL IN GEAR AND TRYING TO PULL ITSELF. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO GET IT TO STOP AND I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER SITTING THERE AND CALMING DOWN BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO DEATH, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT RAN NORMAL, I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE BUT SINCE I WAS SO CLOSE TO HOME, I DROVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AND AM NOW AFRAID TO EVEN START THE CAR ANYMORE. IS THIS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE? I HAD MY GRAND DAUGHTER AND 2 OF MY DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND AM GRATEFUL THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED. *TR
THE CONSUMER COULD HEAR NOISE WHILE THE A/C WAS ON, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TWICE WHERE THEY REPLACED A WEAK SPRIG TENSIONER ONCE AND THEN THE ALTERNATOR, THE CONSUMER COULD STILL HEAR THE NOISE BUT IT WASN?T AS BAD, BUT WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND THE PROCEED DOWN A 70 FOOT RAVINE AND BOTTOM OUT, THE CONSUMER FEELS THE CRUISE CONTROL MAY HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG, ALSO DURING THIS ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS FAILED .NLM
