The contact stated that on the last occasion, the doors locked independently while her daughter was inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

THE AIRBAG IN MY VEHICLE ARE FAULTY AND HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE SAFETY CODE FOR AIRBAG IS SHOWING ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY VEHICLE.. I WAS ALERTED TO THIS WHEN I DROVE MY CAR TO A REPAIR GARAGE FOR A SMOG INSPECTION ON 5/4/21. THE AUTO MANUFACTURER HAS NOT MADE ANY EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE FAULTY AIRBAGS.
I RECENTLY TOOK MY VIBE IN FOR AN AIR BAG RECALL. THEY REPLACED THE PASSAGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE BUT DID NOTHING WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE. I'VE HAD AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I THOUGHT THIS WOULD ALSO BE FIXED. THEY INFORMED ME IT WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IF THE PASSAGER SIDE AIR BAGS ARE FAULTY CAN CAN CAUSE BODILY HARM OR EVEN DEATH WHY WOULD THE DRIVERSIDE AIR BAG BE ANY DIFFERENT. I FEEL IT SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN REPLACED. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHY IT WASN'T OR AT LEAST THE WARNING LIGHT FIXED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A SECOND AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE SPEEDOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE SECOND LIGHT WAS THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN MADE NO MENTION WHY THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
I HAD A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OF MY CAR A FEW YEARS AGO. I HAD IT REPLACED WITH THE SAME, BUT NEWER PART. I THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTIFICATION AND CALLED IN TO GET IT FIXED, BUT NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED TWO OR THREE MORE NOTICES AND CALLED FOR THE FIX, BUT THE PART WAS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. TODAY, ABOUT A YEAR OR SO LATER, I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE, MADE ANOTHER CALL, AND THEY WERE FINALLY ABLE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART. HOWEVER, THEY STILL DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO COME IN.

THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO A RECALL DATED DEC 12,2018 THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THIS RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER AND SINCE I CANNOT DRIVE WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL IT IS REMEDIED I AM REPORTING THIS TO NHTSA AS RECOMMENDED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REQUESTED THAT AT LEAST THEY INSTALL A NEWER AIRBAG WHICH WOULD BE SAFER THAN THE OLDER POTENTIALLY DEGRADED AIRBAG. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER DELETE THE FAULT CODE.

WHEN WILL GM REPLACE MT DEFECTIVE AIRBAG? MY TOYOTA SAME CHASSIS AS THE VIBE WAS COMPLETED IN NOV 2019. IS THE PLAN TO LET GM IGNORE LIKE THE REPAYMENT OF THEIR 2008 BAILOUT? THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN AIRBAG RECALL ON MY 2005 SINCE 08/29/19. TEN MONTHS IS FAR TOO LONG FOR THIS TO GO UNADDRESSED BY GM WHEN IT AFFECTS A MAJOR AIRBAG ON A VEHICLE IMPACTING THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS. I HAVE GONE MOST OF A YEAR WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS RECALL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS BEEN RECALLED ON MY CAR THE LAST RECALL WAS IN 2016 AND I HAD THE AIRBAG REPLACED THEN. TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2005 PONTIAC VIBE THAT WAS PART OF TWO TAKATA RECALLS. AFTER THE GM DEALERSHIP WORKED ON IT AND REPLACED THE DRIVER AIRBAG ON THE VEHICLE, THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE TACHOMETER STARTED GLOWING AND HAS GLOWED SINCE. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE 2ND RECALL RECENTLY AND HAS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME A CODE OF B1811 WHICH MEANS THE AIRBAG WILL NOT GO OFF IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT.. GM AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS LIGHT WAS TRIGGERED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP. WHY WOULDN'T THIS BE COVERED AND FIXED IF DURING THE RECALL? INSTEAD GM AND THEIR DEALERSHIP SAY THAT IT ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY AND THEIR WOULD BE A DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE OF $99 PLUS A COST TO FIX THE ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT WAS CAUSED BY THE RECALL WORK.
