The contact owns a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S. The contact stated that the front of the vehicle was facing uphill, the contact decided not to reverse down the hill and was attempting to turn the vehicle around to drive down the hill. The contact put the vehicle in park and was hanging over the driver’s front door attempting to see where the edge of the hill was to back up the hill and drive down the hill. However, the gear went into neutral, and the vehicle unexpectedly moved, rolling down the hill. The contact jumped into the moving vehicle and depressed the brake pedal as the back of the vehicle hit the ground smashing the muffler into the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed of the recall. The contact sustained injuries to the chest, left arm and shoulder, and the head. The contact had bruises on both legs and arms, and a large laceration on right shin which required medical attention. In addition, the contact was traumatized. The vehicle was repaired by replacing the plastic bushing on the selector lever cable. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V446000 (Power Train) as a possible solution however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact the vehicle would be repaired and the vehicle and paying for the damages. The contact was provided a claim number however, the contact was unsuccessful in reaching a representative. The approximate failure mileage was 158,322.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PORSCHE CAYENNE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V446000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROCKVILLE AUDI (1190 ROCKVILLE PIKE, ROCKVILLE, MD 20852, 888 478-1189) WHO STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. I MADE IT HOME AND CALLED THE DEALER. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS THE CARDON SHAFT AND IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE JOB I WAS ADVISED WAS A $2,000 JOB. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. I FINALLY HAD IT REPAIRED FOR ROUGHLY $900. VERY UNHAPPY...
2 ISSUES. LIKE OTHER 2006 PORSCHE CAYENNE'S, IN NORMAL DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD IN 2014 MY CAR STARTED VIBRATING UNCONTROLLABLY. STOPPED DRIVING AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. TURNS OUR THE DRIVE TRAIN BROKE AT 74,000 MILES. WHICH SEEMS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH ALL 2006 CAYENNES. $2400 TO REPAIR. THEN LAST WEEK THE COOLANT WATER PIPES BROKE DRAINING ALL THE COOLANT FLUID OUT OF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN IN NORMAL TRAFFIC. TOWED TO THE DEALER. I SOON LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN 8 CLASS ACTION LAW SUITES FILED ON THIS PROBLEM IN I BELIEVE 2010 AND PORSCHE SET ASIDE $45M WITHOUT ADMITTING GUILT TO END THE LAW SUIT AND TO FIX AFFECTED CARS; HOWEVER, YOU HAD TO HAVE IT FIXED BY THE END OF 2013. NOBODY TOLD ME OF THIS PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY MY DEALER WHERE THE CAR SITS TODAY AS I TRY TO GET EITHER THE DEALER OF PORSCHE OF NA TO SUPPORT THE COST OF THE FIX. SO FAR THEY ARE NOT WILLING. IN 2013 I HAD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED FOR 1600 NOW I AM EXPERIENCING VIBRATION AT INITIAL TAKEOFF TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WAS TOLD IT IS THE REAR DRIVESHAFT THAT NEEDS TO REPLACED AGAIN AND THE COST IS 2400.00. PER THE WEB THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO GET A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM?
UPON RETURNING FROM A 200 MILE TRIP CRUISING AT 60-65 MPH AND EXITING THE OFF RAMP AT LOWER SPEEDS (25-30MPH) MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND STOP UPON COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONCE I STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOUD KNOCKING CAME FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THERE IS A FAILURE IN THE CENTER DRIVE SHAFT SUPPORT BEARING AND HAS SEEN THIS IN EVER CAYENNE HE HAS SERVICED. I ALSO LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS AND SERVICE TECH'S TALKING ABOUT THIS FAILURE AROUND 70K-90K MILES FOR EVER PORSCHE CAYENNE AND VW TOUREG. I HOPE THERE IS SOME MANUFACTURER FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED A LONG TIME AGO. *TR
SOMETIME IN 2011 I NOTICED THE CAR BEGAN TO HESITATE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS (AUTOMATIC). I WAS ON A LONG DRIVE FROM FLORIDA TO MY HOME IN MARYLAND WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A THING UNTIL IT BEGAN TO HAPPEN ROUTINELY AT ALL SPEEDS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE VALVE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $4,500. I MISSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD BY 60 DAYS SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE COST. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 75,000 MILES ON IT AS I USUALLY USED MY OTHER CAR FOR MY DAILY COMMUTE. I'M LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT UNTIL I CAN AFFORD SUCH A COSTLY REPAIR. I GOT THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALER IN NY WITH ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. I'M CERTAIN THIS WAS A DEFECT THAT PORSCHE KNEW ABOUT AND THEY SHOULD OFFER TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THE REPAIR.

WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS NOT GENERATING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF VOLTAGES. DUE TO THE IGNITION FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT USING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FUEL. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE ENTIRE DIGITAL DASHBOARD DISPLAY SYSTEM FAILED AND NO LONGER DISPLAYED ANY READINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO EXPERIENCING A FINAL FAILURE IN WHICH A VALVE BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SURGE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD ALL THE FAILURES WERE KNOWN PROBLEMS YET THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,250. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
