AFTER UPDATE TO RESOLVE THE EMISSIONS RECALL ISSUE (ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT), MY TRUCK HAS DANGEROUSLY POOR RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION. IT IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER THE INITIAL UPDATE, I HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK IN A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THE EMISSIONS UPDATES RUINED THE EMISSIONS SENSORS. LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON A STATE HIGHWAY WITH PLENTY OF ROOM (AT LEAST 200 FEET) AND AFTER HITTING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE STALLED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY RESPONDING, NEARLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME TO RUN INTO THE REAR. IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED, PEOPLE ARE GOING GET KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY.
AFTER RECEIVING THE UPDATED ENGINE PROGRAMMING RECALL ON MY ECODIESEL RAM, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY FROM ME APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE THROTTLE PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REACTING AND ACCELERATING. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO JUDGE WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THIS DELAY. COULD EASILY CAUSE SOMEONE TO BE REAR-ENDED BECAUSE THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS EXPECTED. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE PRIOR TO THE RECALL.
ON 7/29/19 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30 PM, WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 60 - 65 MPH, WEST BOUND ON INTERSTATE 40 AT N.C. MM 31, THE TRUCK LOST POWER (LIMP IN MODE), THE CHECK ENGINE & SERVICE AUTOMATIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS CAME ON. NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. COASTED OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO REST IN A USED CAR DEALERSHIP'S PARKING LOT. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD WHERE I FOUND AN APPROXIMATELY 8' FLAME PROJECTING FROM UNDER THE PLASTIC MANIFOLD COVER. DOUSED THE FLAME WITH A BOTTLE OF DRINKING WATER AND TOOK THE PLASTIC COVER OFF WHERE I FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS SHEATHING ENGULFED IN FLAMES. EXTINGUISHED THAT WITH AN ABC DRY CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHER. CURRENTLY THE TRUCK IS AT WAYNESVILLE RAM WITH NO UPDATES AS OF YET. HAD THE EGR RECALL COMPLETED ON 6/19/19 AT WAYNESVILLE RAM AND HAD NOTICED DECREASED POWER AND FUEL MILEAGE SINCE BUT THE DECREASES WERE MINOR AND JUST ACCEPTED AS FACT FROM THE RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERNED AT PRESENT AFTER RESEARCHING THIS SITUATION AND CONVERSING WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY SIMILAR EVENTS WITH THE SAME MOTOR.
SINCE HAVING THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DONE ON MY RAM ECODIESEL THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY UNTIL THE ENGINE SEEMS TO REACH FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO PULL ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY THE ENGINE BOGS DOWN AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. WITH COLDER WEATHER APPROACHING I AM CONCERNED THIS ISSUE MAY WORSEN.
2015 RAM ECO DIESEL. RECENTLY, RAM AND JEEP WERE INVOLVED IN "IN RE: CHRYSLER-DODGE-JEEP "ECODIESEL" MDL," WHICH RESOLVED LEGAL CLAIMS ASSERTING THAT THE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL AND STATE EMISSIONS REGULATIONS AND THAT FIAT CHRYSLER MADE MISREPRESENTATIONS TO CONSUMERS REGARDING THE VEHICLES. I PULLED THIS INFO FROM THE ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT WEBSITE. IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE, CUSTOMERS WERE TO GET (3) THINGS; (1) V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE; (2) MONEY, DEPENDENT ON YOUR OWNERSHIP STATUS; AND (3) A 10 WARRANTY EXTENSION. I HAD THE V08 SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETED AT THE END OF MAY, 2019. SINCE THAT UPDATE, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD POOR PERFORMANCE WITH LACK OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. WITHIN A WEEK OF HAVING THE UPDATE DONE, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT ON AS WELL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, THE LACK OF ACCELERATION AND POWER REMAINED. THROUGH JUNE AND JULY THIS LACK OF POWER AND ACCELERATION CONTINUED. I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TOWARDS THE END OF JULY AND THEY OPENED A STAR REPORT AND TOLD ME THIS RECALL IS HAVING NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON A LOT PEOPLE'S VEHICLES. I THEN TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AND WAS DRIVING AT THE END OF JULY WHEN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME, THERE WAS A SMELL SIMILAR TO BURNING ELECTRICAL. I PULLED OVER AND THE WITHIN MINUTES THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE PERSONAL WERE CALLED AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT, BUT NOT BEFORE IT ENGULFED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND FRONT OF THE CABIN IN FLAMES. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND CONTACTED FCA. BOTH PARTIES SENT FIRE INVESTIGATORS OUT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. FCA SAYS, WITH THE INFO AT HAND, THE FIRE CAN'T BE ASSOCIATED WITH A MANUFACTURING OR ASSEMBLY ERROR. I ALSO CONTACTED THE CLASS ACTION ATTORNEYS AND SENT THEM INFORMATION FROM THE FIRE AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A CLICKING NOISE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT AS WHITE SMOKE STARTED TO EMERGE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COMMUNITY CHRYSLER DODGE (2200 S WALNUT ST, BLOOMINGTON, IN 47401) WHERE IT REMAINED SINCE JULY 23, 2019 UNTIL NOW. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE EGR WAS BURNED AND ALSO HAD A BAD TURBO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY EASTGATE CHRYSLER RAM (500 N SHADELAND AVE, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46219) ON NOVEMBER 26, 2019 WHERE THEY REPLACED ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRING (41 WIRES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL RECENTLY RECEIVED THE V08 RECALL. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE RECALL THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON JULY 01. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP UNTIL 07-19. I DROVE THE TRUCK HOME FROM THE SHOP AND DID NOT NOTICE EXTREME LAG AT THAT TIME. THE. I GOT I TO THE TRUCK AT THE DEALER THE TRUCK HAD BEEN IDLING AND WAS ALMOST TO OPERATION TEMPERATURE OF 200' FAHRENHEIT. THE NEXT MORNING UPON FIRST START UP I DROVE THE TRUCK AND WAS IMMEDIATELY ALMOST IN A ACCIDENT AS WHEN THE TRUCK WAS COLD WITH TEMPS BELOW 150' THERE WAS AN ALMOST 5 SECOND LAG FROM THEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED AND THE TRUCK WOULD ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK HAS SEVERE LAG UPON ACCELERATION AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE RELIABLY UNTIL THE TRUCK HAS WARMED UP TO ALMOST 200' WHICH TAKES ALMOST 15 MIN. THE DEALER HAS ADMITTED THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG BUT HAS NO WAY OF FIXING THE PROBLEM AS THE TRUCK IS NOT PRODUCING CODES TO AID IN DIAGNOSTICS. IN MY OPINION THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY FIAT CHRYSLER.
EMISSIONS RECALL UPDATE INVOLVING V08 HAS FORCED MY TRUCK PERFORMANCE TO NOW CAUSE FOR CONCERN THE WAY I AM ABLE TO DRIVE MY TRUCK SAFELY. THE PEDAL RESPONSE IS TERRIBLE COMPARED TO THE "STOCK SOFTWARE" AND IS A SLOW REACTION UNTIL THE TRUCK IS "WARMED" UP TO ABOUT 150F DEGREES. BECAUSE THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE IS RELEASED IN THE SUMMER IT SHOULD TAKE LESS TIME TO WARM UP BUT LIVING IN MICHIGAN, THE TRUCK WILL TAKE A LOT LONGER TO WARM UP DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHICH WILL A) NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE SAFELY THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ANY MORE AND B) FORCE OTHER DRIVERS TO HIT THEIR BRAKES DUE TO A LACK OF ACCELERATION MY TRUCK NOW HAS AND EITHER HIT ME OR HAVE THEM AVOID MY TRUCK CAUSING ACCIDENTS. THE LACK OF ACCELERATION OR "LAG" AS IT IS CALLED IS FOR ABOUT 2-4 SECONDS WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO GAIN ANY SPEED WORTHY OF TRAVELING ONTO A ROAD WITH TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO "GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY" LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE V08 WAS INSTALLED. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT ONCE THE TRUCK IS ABLE TO MOVE BECAUSE OF THE "LAG" GOING AWAY FINALLY THE ENGINE IS THEN OVER-REVVED AT AN UN-NORMAL RPM. THE ISSUE WITH THAT WILL BE IN THE WINTER TIME WHEN THERE IS ICE AND SNOW ON ROADS AND THE REAR WHEELS WILL SPIN ON THAT SLIPPERY SURFACE. THE MOST COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THIS LAG IS AFTER START UP AND STARTING TO DRIVE MY TRUCK ONTO ROADWAYS OR ACROSS INTERSECTIONS. THE SCARIEST MOMENT WAS WHEN I HAD A VERY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF SPACE TO PULL OUT ONTO A ROADWAY, MAKING A LEFT TURN, FROM A STOP AND A SEMI TRUCK CAUGHT UP TO ME FROM THE RIGHT AND I WAS FORCED TO GO TO THE MIDDLE TURN LANE INSTEAD OF A DRIVE-ABLE LANE TO AVOID THE TRUCK BECAUSE MY ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE HAD DIMINISHED TO NOTHING FOR THE 2-4 SECONDS MEANWHILE MORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS HEADED TOWARDS ME AS WELL. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO GO INTO TRAFFIC FINE, BUT WILL NOT SPEED UP REGARDLESS OF PEDAL POSITION.
WHILE TURNING, STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. THE STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE DANGEROUS SITUATION LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL, BUT CONTINUED TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. ED KOEHN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (11282 W CARSON CITY RD, GREENVILLE, MI 48838, (616) 754-3635) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS VERY CLOSE TO BEING INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN OUTSTANDING RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
AFTER RECALL V08 /V11 UPDATES: SEVERLY DELAYED TROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATING. FROM A STOP TO ACTUAL THROTTLE RESPONDING TO 3/4 PRESSURE IS AT A MINIMUM OF 30-40 FEET.
I HAD RECALL V08 AND SOME OTHER RECALLS PERFORMED AT LOCAL RAM DEALER, THE EMISSIONS MODIFICATION HAS LEFT MY TRUCK VERY SLUGGISH (THROTTLE UNRESPONSIVE) WHEN ENGINE IS COLD. TWICE SINCE COMPUTER WAS FLASHED I HAVE PULLED OUT TO CROSS TRAFFIC AND TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS IT DID PRIOR TO FLASH. I WAS TOLD THE FLASH WOULD NOT CHANGE PERFORMANCE AND MILEAGE BUT BOTH HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. I AM ALSO USING CONSIDERABLE MORE DEF FLUID. BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE LACK OF THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, I TEND TO FORGET AND PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THEN IT GETS QUITE SCARY, I BELIEVE THIS COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT. THIS RECALL WAS PART OF A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AGAINST FCA, BUT THE LITTLE BIT OF MONEY I WAS OFFERED DOES NOT HELP ME IF I'M HURT OR KILLED DRIVING THE TRUCK.
HAD THE A08 EMISSIONS SOFTWARE PUT ON MY TRUCK LAST WEEK AND IT LOST MOST OF ITS POWER. NOW WHEN I MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, I'M NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE SAFETY .. THERE IS A 5-6 SECOND LAG BEFORE I GET ANY ACCELERATION. THE TRUCK WAS FINE BEFORE THE RECALL, NOW IT LACKS ACCELERATION, POWER AND FUEL ECONOMY IS WORSE. THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES SO RAM IS SAYING THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO .. I'M STUCK WITH A TRUCK THAT I'M AFRAID WILL GET ME INTO AN ACCIDENT.
AFTER V-08 EMISSIONS RECALL ON RAM ECHO DIESEL TRUCK LOST HORSEPOWER AND GETTING LOWER FUEL MILEAGE. THE TRUCK BARELY HAS THE POWER TO MOVE ITSELF MUCH LESS ANY TOWING CAPABILITY. THE FUEL MILEAGE WENT FROM 20 MPG HIGHWAY TO 15 MPG HIGHWAY. HAVE HAD THE TRUCK BACK IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. RAM IS TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOT ANYTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT IS A GOVERNMENT RECALL. I DID NOT PURCHASE THIS TRUCK TO HAVE IT GET 15 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAVE NO HORSEPOWER TO TOW. THIS TRUCK IS USED AS A RANCH TRUCK, SO TOWING IS WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE DOING. MY ONLY OPTION NOW IS TO TRADE IT IN FOR A BIGGER TRUCK AT A FINANCIAL HIT ON MY WALLET. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD OF NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO HAPPEN WITH THE RECALL OVERSITE. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I HAVE TALKED WITH MANY OTHER TRUCK OWNERS AND THEY ALL ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I WOULD APRICATE A FIX TO THIS ISSUE BECAUSE PAYING $50,000.00 FOR A TRUCK ONLY TO HAVE A RECALL TAKE AWAY THE REASON IT WAS PURCHASED IS WRONG. A NEW TRUCK IS GOING TO COST AROUND $65,000.00 AND NOW THAT IT'S OUT THAT ALL RAM 1500 ECO DIESEL HAVE THIS PROBLEM OUR TRADE IN VALUE HAS DROPPED. I HAD A TRADE IN OFFER ON MY TRUCK LAST MONTH FOR $30,000.00 AND AS OF LAST WEEK IT DROPPED TO $21,000.00. SO AS YOU CAN TELL THIS RECALL IS AFFECTING A LOT OF PEOPLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE.
AFTER AN EMISSIONS RECALL UPDATE WAS PERFORMED ON MY 2015 RAM ECO DIESEL I NOW EXPERIENCE LOWER MPG AND POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE ALONG WITH A NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN TRANSMISSION SHIFTING.. AT TIMES WHEN PULLING ONTO A HIGHWAY FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE VEHICLE HESITATES FOR A BIT THEN SEEMS TO ACCELERATE OKAY. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN DO TO THE FACT IT ISN'T CONSISTENT. I HAVE TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN ACCELERATING BECAUSE I WAS CLOSE TO CAUSING AN ACCIDENT A FEW TIMES ALREADY. BEFORE THE EMISSIONS UPDATE I DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BETTEN BAKER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BIG RAPIDS (14061 NORTHLAND DR, BIG RAPIDS, MI 49307, (231) 796-2651) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,586.
I HAD THE RECENT RECALL DONE ON MY ECODIESEL FOR THE EMISSIONS FAILURE ACCORDING TO THE EPA AND EVER SINCE IVE HAD THE RECALL IVE HAD ROUGHLY WHEN I START IT IN THE MORNING ABOUT A 4-5 SECOND SPEED DELAY OR PEDAL LAG EVEN IF I PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. AFTER IT WARMS UP AND IVE BEEN DRIVING IT A WHILE IT IMPROVES BUT THE DELAY IS STILL THERE EVEN AFTER DRIVING FOR MY JOB, I'M A PILOT CAR DRIVER/ESCORT FOR OVERSIZED LOADS, AND AFTER DRIVING ALL DAY I STILL HAVE A 1-3 SECOND DELAY NO MATTER HOW HARD OR SOFT I PRESS THE PEDAL. IVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND BEST THEY TOLD ME IS EITHER FCA WILL HAVE TO COME OUT WITH AN UPDATE OR TO GO BUY A PEDAL COMMANDER OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO IMMEDIATELY CORRECT THE ISSUE BUT COULD POSSIBLY VOID EVEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I GOT WITH THE EMISSIONS RECALL. WHICH IF I HAD KNOWN ALL OF THIS I WOULD SAID TO HELL WITH THE ANY RECALLS. I FEEL THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE ME TO WRECK BY EITHER HESITATING BECAUSE I KNOW THERES THE LAG OR IM GOING TO PULL OUT AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET UP TO SPEED WITHIN A REASONABLE DISTANCE.
HAD THE ECM MODIFICATION DONE PURSUANT TO THE EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT BETWEEN FIAT CHRYSLER AND THE EPA. VEHICLE HAS BECOME A TERRIBLE SLUG WITH HORRIBLE ACCELERATION, AND I HAVE NOW HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE IT WON'T ACCELERATE QUICKLY ENOUGH TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WITHOUT SCARING ME FOR FEAR OF GETTING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SIMILAR PROBLEMS MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC; IT JUST WON'T GET THE JOB DONE. IT IS CLEARLY NOT THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED NOR THE VEHICLE IT WAS BEFORE THIS SOFTWARE "DOWNGRADE".
POWER STEERING CONSTANTLY IS GOING IN AND OUT. SOMETIMES FOR A DAY OR TWO, SOMETIMES EVERY OTHER TURN, AND SOMETIMES EVERY TURN IS HALF POWER STEERING AND HALF NOT (KIND OF LIKE PULSING). I'VE HAD 2 RACK AND PINION REPLACEMENTS WITH STILL ONGOING ISSUES. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR MY YEAR TRUCK, BUT MY TRUCK IS NOT APART OF IT EVEN THOUGH I'M EXPERIENCING THE EXACT ISSUES OF THE RECALL
I OWN A 2015 RAM 1500, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST OF 2015. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE ECODIESEL ENGINE AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THIS SAME ENGINE WAS THE TOPIC OF A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FILED AGAINST FIAT/CHRYSLER. THE AGREEMENTS IN THE SETTLEMENT OF THAT SUIT REQUIRES RAM DEALERS TO UPDATE THE ENGINE SOFTWARE SO THAT IT WILL MEET THE ORIGINAL EMISSIONS SPECS. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. ONCE THE ENGINE COMES TO FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, IT COMES CLOSE TO ORIGINAL PERFORMANCE, BUT IT NEVER PERFORMS AS IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL WAS DONE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MY LOCAL RAM DEALER HAS VERIFIED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ANY PART ON THE ENGINE, AND THE PROBLEM IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE V08 RECALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND EXHIBITED NO PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THIS RECALL. THE SETTLEMENT REQUIRED THAT THE UPDATE DID NOT EFFECT DRIVABILITY, BUT IT DID SO IN A DANGEROUS MANNER.
I RECENTLY HAD THE EMISSIONS REFLASH RECALL FOR MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD NOT AFFECT DRIVEABILITY, FUEL MILEAGE, OR ENGINE PERFORMANCE. WELL, IT HAS AFFECTED ALL. MY FUEL MILAGE HAS DROPPED( USED TO GET AROUND 22 COMBINED, LUCKY TO GET 20 NOW). THE ENGINE IS LACKING POWER AND VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS ON GRADES WHERE IT DIDNT BEFORE. THE TURBO IS ALSO LOUDER. I ASSUME THIS IS FROM THEM CHOKING DOWN THE VANES ON THE TURBO TO ACCOUNT FOR LESS FUEL BEING DELIVERED TO REACH THEIR EMISSION CLAIMS. MY BIGGEST CONCERN HAS TO DO WITH THE EXTREME LACK OF RESPONSE FROM A DEAD STOP. IT MAKES PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC A SAFETY CONCERN. YOU CAN LITERALLY PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE TRUCK WILL BARELY MOVE THEN SUDDENLY IT WILL TAKE OFF. IT DOES THIS NO MATTER HOW MUCH THROTTLE IS BEING APPLIED IT HAS A DELAY.THIS VEHICLE IS NO WHERE NEAR WHAT IT WAS WHEN I PURCHASED IT. I FEEL THAT IF THIS REFLASH IS THE BEST SOLUTION TO THEM LYING ABOUT THEIR EMISSIONS TO BEGIN WITH, PERHAPS FIAT, CHRYSLER SHOULD BE BUYING THESE VEHICLES BACK INSTEAD OF MAKING MORE FALSE CLAIMS.
RAM ECODIESEL AEM V08 FLASH: AFTER HAVING THIS FLASH PERFORMED ON MY 2015 RAM ECODIESEL AT A RAM DEALERSHIP AS PART OF THE SETTLEMENT WITH THE EPA, THERE IS A 3+ SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION FROM A STOP WHICH HAS CREATED A HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHEN AT INTERSECTIONS. ALSO, THERE IS A HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO MERGE IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC. THIS TURBO CHARGER LAG WAS NEVER AN ISSUE BEFORE THIS FLASH WAS PERFORMED ON MY TRUCK.
RECEIVED A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT FOR A PROBLEM IN THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. INVOICE REPORT SHOWS PLASTIC FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD MELTING AND GETTING INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALSO, ECODIESEL AEM UPDATE V08 HAS CAUSED PEDAL LAG, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE.
AFTER I HAD THE AEM INSTALLED ON MY DODGE RAM ECODIESEL THE TRUCK WOULD LOOSE POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A COMPLETE STOP. ON THURSDAY JULY 11 2019 I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP SIGN AND THE TRUCK STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! I WAS ALMOST HIT BY THE CROSS TRAFFIC. I CURRENTLY HAVE MY TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THE SAME PROBLEM OTHERS ARE HAVING. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK AND I AM HOPING THE FCA CAN MAKE DODGE COME UP WITH A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE OR LEMON LAW THESE VEHICLES AS THEY ARE DANGEROUS TO THE PERSON DRIVING AND THE OTHERS ON THE ROAD!
THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED UNDER THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT AND RECEIVED AN APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION. THIS UPDATE REPROGRAMMED THE VEHICLE COMPUTER TO IMPROVE THE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS. THIS MODIFICATION HAS CREATED A DRIVE-ABILITY ISSUE WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE GOES UP A STEEP HILL AND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE, EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FLOORED. THEN THE ENGINE KICKS IN AND SPINS THE REAR WHEELS ON A GRAVEL ROAD. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE AND IT IS SNOW COUNTRY. GOING UP A SNOW COVERED STEEP HILL IS GOING TO BE AN ISSUE. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IF IT DID NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION THAT HAS CREATED AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION.

EPA HAS REQUIRED AN AEM FLASH UPDATE FOR MY RAM ECODIESEL. THIS UPDATE HAS BECOME A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. DUE TO THE UPDATE, WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 160 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, THERE IS A 3-5 SECOND DELAY IN ACCELERATION. 0N 7/8/19, LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP FROM RECEIVING THE EPA REGULATED UPDATE, I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. NOT KNOWING WHAT THE AEM UPDATE HAD DONE TO MY VEHICLE, I PULLED OUT OF THE LOT AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE ROLLED INTO 3 OF THE 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC. I HAD THE PEDDLE AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO AND DURING THAT 3-5 SECONDS, MY VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISHLY GOING 4 MPH. ONCE THAT 3-5 SECONDS PASSED, THE VEHICLE THEN ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AS IT SHOULD WITH THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. ONCE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GET OVER 160 DEGREES, THE DELAY DROPS FROM 3-5 SECONDS DOWN TO 1-3 SECONDS. I HAVE LEARNED TO NOT CHANCE ANYTHING PULLING IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THAT ONE DAY LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS LUCKY TO NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated on several occasions while driving the vehicle "Exhaust Filter Full" message was displayed and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that debris was present inside the fuel system and the fuel system needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 128,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING. NO CODES, VERY HARD TO STEER AND STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT CORRECT ITSELF STRAIGHT AFTER TURNING A CORNER.
POST AEM UPDATE THERE IS A SEVERE LAG IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP/RECALL UPDATE I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SLOW RESPONSE AFTER PRESSING THE THROTTLE TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK JUST SAT THERE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE SLOWLY MOVING. WHEN TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED TO MERGE ONTO INTERSTATE, PRE RECALL UPDATE, THE TRUCK WAS QUICK TO SHIFT AND GAIN SPEED. TODAY IT HAD A HARD TIME GETTING UP TO 65, EVEN WHEN ACCELERATOR PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. I WAS VERY NERVOUS THAT THE SEMI TRUCK COMING UP BEHIND ME WAS GOING TO REAR ENDED ME. IT SEEMS AS IF THE RECALL UPDATE BOTH CHANGED RESPONSE TIME IN ACCELERATION AND THE SHIFTING PATTERNS OF THE TRUCK. BOTH OF WHICH HAVE MADE MY TRUCK UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THERE ARE TIMES WHERE IT HAS NO ACCELERATION AT ALL FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE A LONE TIME. PROBABLY 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESPONDS. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FCA BUT ALL THEY DID WAS CALL THE DEALER AND REPEATED TO ME THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. ALL I AM ASKING THEM FOR IS TO MAKE MY VEHICLE OPERATE AS IT DID BEFORE THE EMISSIONS RECALL. MY MPG HAS DROPPED DRASTICALLY AND THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE OR SHIFT AS IT DID. FCA REQUIRED V08 RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND THEIR AEM INSTALLED TO THE PCM/TCM. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED IT WAS DOWN ON POWER. SINCE I HAVE LOST 4-5MPG AVERAGE OVER WHAT I WAS GETTING BEFORE THE AEM WAS INSTALLED. THE TRUCK IS OVERALL DOWN ON POWER SINCE THE AEM WAS INSTALLED. AS WELL THE TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE UNTIL THE COOLANT TEMP REACHES AT LEAST 150 DEGREES F. THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER WHEN THE ENGINE IS BELOW 150F AND CAN'T GET OUT OF ITS OWN WAY AND LEAVES ME VULNERABLE TO A COLLISION DUE TO TURBO LAG AND LACK OF POWER. IF I PULL INTO TRAFFIC TO MERGE OR CROSS AN INTERSECTION MY FEAR IS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY ENOUGH OR AVOID AN ACCIDENT SHOULD I NEED TO. I CANNOT ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ANY LONGER DUE TO THE DANGERS AND LACK OF POWER.

FCA ISSUED A RECALL FOR ECODIESEL RAMS AFTER AN EMISSIONS LAWSUIT. THE AEM UPDATE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO AFFECT VEHICLE PERFORMANCE OR MPG. IT DOES. NOW, AFTER GETTING THE UPDATE, THE TRUCK IS UNPREDICTABLE IN HOW IT DRIVES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO ROADS WITH TRAFFIC/CROSS TRAFFIC - SOMETIMES IT WILL ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY AND ALMOST GET HIT, OTHER TIMES IT IS FINE.
