MY 2015 RAM HAS ALMOST 32,000 MILES . THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY AFTER FILLING UP MY TANK. IT THROWS A CODE FUEL SENSOR FAIL AND FUEL LOW. THE FUEL GUAGE IS ON EMPTY WITH 3\4 FULL TANK. IT HAPPENS WHILE YOUR DRIVING OR STANDING STILL IDDLING.
AFTER THE EMISSIONS RECALL FLASH OF THE ECM ON THE ECODIESEL RAM 1500S THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN PULLING OUT ON TO ROADS. AFTER THE ECM FLASH THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES I HAVE ALMOST BEEN T-BONED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON TO STREETS. YOU HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND THE TRUCK CREEPS ALONG FOR A GOOD 4 OR TO 8 SECONDS THEN IT WILL ACCELERATE.
JUST HAD THE ECODIESEL EMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETED AND TRUCK DOES NOT PERFORM NEAR WHERE IT HAD BEEN. IT WAS NEVER A ROCKET BUT IT WAS BETTER THAN IT IS NOW. SLUGGISH FROM STANDSTILL, ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD. HESITATION WHEN SHIFTING. DOWNSHIFTS MORE OFTEN AND SOONER. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK SINCE NEW AND IT HAS HAD ZERO MODIFICATIONS. THIS ISSUES I DESCRIBED ABOVE WERE NOT THERE BEFORE THE UPDATE. THERE WILL BE SOME ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THE SOFTWARE.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING TURNING ON TO A MAJOR HWY. I TURNED RIGHT & HAD TO IMMEDIATELY TURN BACK LEFT WHILE SWERVING INTO THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC.
ENGINE FIRE ON 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, BUT STILL RUNNING, AT FREEWAY SPEED. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS. PULLED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AS "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE POSITION FAILURE" APPEARED ON INFO SCREEN. PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD. THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. COMPLETE LOSS.
THIS VEHICLE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH AN EMISSIONS RECALL FOR ITS 3.0 LITER ECODIESEL ENGINE. AN AEM 'FLASH' WAS DONE TO THE ECM MODULE, AND AFTER THAT WAS PERFORMED (AS PART OF THE EMISSIONS RECALL) THE ENGINE'S ACCELERATION - PREVIOUSLY VERY RESPONSIVE - IS DANGEROUSLY LACKING. THERE IS A 2-4 SECOND HESITATION AND TERRIBLE RESPONSE AND TURBO-LAG, AND I'VE VERY NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN SIMPLY TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC ACROSS ON-COMING TRAFFIC LANES. THE RESPONSE FROM A DEAD STOP IS DANGEROUSLY SLOW. IT'S ALMOST AS IF IT'S GONE INTO 'LIMP' MODE - WHICH TOTALLY DISABLES THE TURBO. ALSO - EVEN WHEN MOVING - IF TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS OR MOVE OVER, THE RESPONSE IS AGONIZINGLY SLOW.
I HAD THE REQUIRED AEM UPDATE DONE 6/18. THIS IS FOR THE ECO DIESEL EMISSION SETTLEMENT. SINCE THIS WAS DONE IT IS A DIFFERENT TRUCK. WHEN COLD, THROTTLE DELAY IS SIGNIFICANT. ITS DANGEROUS AS YOU CAN'T GET MOVING WITHOUT FLOORING IT! IT GETS BETTER AS IT WARMS UP BUT STILL FEELS LETHARGIC AND FUEL CONSUMPTION IS WORSE.
FCA RECALL, RESULTED IN A VERY DANGEROUS TURBO LAG WHICH WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE GIVES A 3-4 SECONDS DELAY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS APPLIED. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED FROM THIS. THEY KNOWINGLY CAUSED THIS TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. THE VEHICLE MPG IS DROPPED BY 3-4MPG AS WELL. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS AND ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT.
WHEN I GOT MY TRUCK IT RAN GOOD PULLED GREAT AND GOT FANTASTIC FUEL MILEAGE . I HAD THE RECALL DONE THE VO8 REF LASH, SINCE THAT WAS DONE MY MILEAGE HAS DROPPED 5/8 MILES PER GALLON THEIR IS A BAD THROTTLE LAG AND NO POWER COMING OFF A STOP MY EGR HAS BROKEN AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND ONE I CAN HARDLY GET 21 MILES PER GALLON BY IT SELF ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT STAY IN 8TH GEAR LIKE IT DID WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE EASTERN U S WITH NO PROBLEM PULLING ENCLOSED TRAILERS ANDS 35 HP 4/4 TRACTOR GETTING 19 TO 22 MILES PER GALLON AT 7/5 TO 80 MILES PER HOUR AND STAYING IN 8 THE GEAR. NOW NO POWER AND YOU HAVE TO STAY IN IT TO MAKE IT PULL AND TRANS. SHIFTS FROM 6/7 ALL THE TIME AND FUEL MILEAGE IS TERABLE AS LOW AS 16.6 I WILL NO LONGER USE THAT TRUCK TO GO ON DESASTER RELIEF ANY MORE BECAUSE IT IS SCARED TO DRIVE. IT USE TO BE A FUN TRUCK TO DRIVE BUT NOT NOW I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND A PREE MECHANIC AND THIS TRUCK STINKS NOW I AM ASHAMED TO TALK IT UP ANYMORE LIKE I DID WHEN IT WAS NEW I GUESS WHEN IT FAILS I WILL PUT IT IN THE FRONT YARD WITH A LEMON SIGN ON IT AND LEAVE IT I AM ONE DISSATIFIED CUSTOMER AND I HAVE 4 DODGES BUT WILL NOT OWN ANOTHER ONE UNLESS THESE ARE FIXED LIKE THEY WERE WHEN THEY WERE NEW.
POWER IS OFF,THROTTLE LAG IS BAD TURBO WILL NOT SPOOL UP UNTIL HIGH RPM,TRANSMISSION WON'T STAY IN 8 GEAR WITH THE SLIGHTEST INCLINE AND SHIFTS BACK AND FORTH FROM 6/7/8 WHEN PULLING SMALL LOADS AND WITH BIG LOADS IT USE TO STAY IN 8TH GEAR ALMOST ALL THE TIME FUEL MILEAGE IS DOWN BY 6/8 MILES TO THE GALLON ALL THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER THE VO8 RECALL,HAD TO HAVE A EGR COOLER AND PIPE PUT ON BECAUSE IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE, TRUCK IS SCARY TO DRIVE NOW YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IS WILL EXCELLERATE WHEN YOU PUSH THE GAS SOME TIMES IT WILL TAKE UP TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE IT START PULLING AND I HAVE A I CLING GOING OUT OF MY DRIVE AND IT ALMOST STALLS WHEN GOING OUT IN THE MORNING AND AFTER IT WARMS UP IT WILL THROW DRIVEL WHEN IT FINALLY STRTS PULLING . THIS WINTER WILL BE BAD WHEN IT GETS COLD BECAUSE IT IS BAD SLUGGISH IN THE MORNING TRUCK IS SCARED TO DRIVE NOW COMPARED TO BEFORE THE VO8 FLASH.FCA COULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING TO CURE THIS PROBLEM AND MISSISSIPPI HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CALIFORNIAPOLUTION STANDARD . TEST WERE RUN BEFOR VO8 CRACKLE AND IT MET POLLUTION STANDARDS HOW DID FCA GET SUED FOR PASSING THE STANDARDS I GUESS CAL JUST DOESN'T LIKE DIESELS, DON'T THINK I WILL EVER GO TO CALIFORNIA OR BUY ANOTHER FCA VEHICLE I GUESS I WILL GO BACK TO TOYOTA WHEN THIS TRUCK QUITS WHICH WILL BE VERY SOON WITH ALL THE CELLS COMING ON NOW ,WE NEED HELP ON A USE TO BE VERY GOOD TRUCK . IT WAS FUN TO DRIVE WHEN I FIRST GOT IT BUT NOT ANY MORE . I USE THIS TRUCK TO PULL A TRACTOR ALL OVER THE U/S FOR DESASTER RELIEF WORK BUT I WILL NOT TAKE IT ANY MORE BECAUSE OF HOW IT RUNS NOW, REALLY SCARY TO PULL STUFF NOW COMPARED TO BEFORE FLASH
THE RECENT ECODIESEL RECALL WAS PERFORMED. AS I PULLED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP THE TRUCK STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR LANE ROAD LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. THE NEXT DAY THE TRUCK LITERALLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE RPMS GOES UP TO OVER 5000 THEN THE TRUCK SLOWLY GAINS POWER. I PULLED BACK INTO THE LOT AND PRESSED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FROM A DEAD STOP AND THE SAME THING. WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE ONLY COMPLAINT SO FAR WAS A LOSS IN MPG. ON THE ECODIESELRAM. COM FORUM SEVERAL OTHER ECODIESEL OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED!
AFTER GETTING THE FCA EMISSIONS MODIFICATION PUSHED OUT BY RAM/FIAT, I HAVE LOST ABOUT 20-25% GAS MILEAGE AND POWER IN THE TRUCK. THE MODIFICATION HAS RUINED A GREAT TRUCK. TRUCK IS NOW DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF A LAG AND LACK OF POWER. MOD WAS INSTALLED IN SUMMER OF 2019 AND TRUCK IS NOW RUINED.
INVOLVING THE ECO DIESEL EMISSIONS UPDATE PERFORMED ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 AT THE DEALERSHIP BY FCA ON 06/11/19 SAID IT WOULD NOT CHANGE THE DRIVEABLITY OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT HAS, IN THE ACCELERATION THAT IS DELAYED OR SOMETIMES JUST NOT THERE AT ALL, THIS IS INCONSISTENT AND INTERMITTENT WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A ROADWAY I MUST TAKE THE POSSIBILITY IN MIND THAT THE VEHICLE MIGHT NOT GET GOING INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, I FIND THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR EVERY DAY DRIVERS. POWER STEERING IS INTERMITTENT AND QUITS ASSISTING DURING TURNS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS.
SINCE HAVING THE EMISSION RECALL UPDATE INSTALLED, ACCELERATION HAS BEEN EXCESSIVELY REDUCED AT ENGINE TEMPERATURES BELOW 150 DEGREES. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT A SAFE LEVEL FROM A STOP. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED SLOW ACCELERATION.
TRUCK WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY WITH 43K MILES WHEN I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN FOR EMISSIONS RECALL V08. THE NEW SOFTWARE HAS MADE MY TRUCK DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WHEN COLD, AND EVEN AFTER THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR AN HOUR. UNTIL FULLY AT OPERATING TEMP THERE IS A DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG AND LOSS OF POWER WHICH AFFECTS ME WHEN I PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND ALSO WHILE TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER. THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE, TRAVELING AT 2-5MPH WITH THE THROTTLE FLOORED CAUSING REAR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES. WHILE TOWING I CANT ACCELERATE MAKING MERGING INTO TRAFFIC UNSAFE. RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY VERIFIED ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS AND DID NOTHING BECAUSE FCA SAID THAT'S HOW IT RUNS NOW...BLAME THE EPA.
I PURCHASE A 2015 RAM 1500 ECO-DIESEL IN DECEMBER 2015. ON JUNE 1, 2119, THE DEALER PERFORMED THE COURT APPROVED ECO-DIESEL MODIFICATIONS IN CONFORMANCE WITH EPA MANDATE. I SUBMITTED MY CLAIM TO FCA ON JUNE 3,2019. AFTER THE MODIFICATIONS, ACCELERATION FROM A STARTING POSITION LAGS BY ABOUT 3 SECONDS, CAUSING A DRIVER RESPONSE INCONSISTENCY THAT HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL NEAR MISSES OF ON-COMING CARS WHEN ENTERING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! NOT OF A SAFETY CONCERN, BUT A FALSE CLAIM MADE BY FCA IS THE FACT THAT THE DIESEL PERFORMANCE IN MILES PER GALLON HAS DROPPED FROM 24 MPG AVERAGE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS TO A 21.5 MPG AVERAGE FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS. IN ADDITION, NO CLAIM PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED WITHIN THE 3 MONTHS AFTER MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE. LETTERS HAVE BEEN SENT, BUT RESPONSES ARE ADDITIONAL BUREAUCRATIC DEMANDS MADE TO CONSUMER. THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
AFTER MANDATED "REPROGRAMMING" FOR THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT ON MAY 29TH, TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE FROM STANDING START, TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO ENGAGE. HAVE TO TURN TRUCK OFF AND RESTART AND HOPE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES IN DRIVE.
I AM HAVING INTERMITTENT EPISODES WHERE IT IS HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT FEELS LIKE WHEN A VEHICLE IS LOW ON POWER STEERING FLUID BUT THIS VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE A POWER STEERING PUMP.
SINCE APPLYING THE ECODIESEL SETTLEMENT ECU FLASH, MY VEHICLE IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ESPECIALLY WHEN NOT FULLY WARMED UP, SHIFTING AND TURBO LAG MAKES THE VEHICLE NEARLY UNDRIVEABLE IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. THE GAS PEDAL HAS A HUGE LAG AND NON-LINEAR BEHAVIOR (PRESS TO FLOOR, NOTHING, THEN EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE). SHIFTING, PASSING, FUEL ECONONY, AND DRIVEABILITY WERE HUGELY IMPACTED BY THEIR EMISSIONS UPDATE AND IT HAS MADE THIS EXPENSIVE TRUCK UNSAFE, BECAUSE IT IS UNPREDICTABLE BASED ON VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSION "WARMUP". WHEN COLD THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING AN EMISSIONS UPDATE THAT WAS REQUIRED VIA A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM. THE CONTACT HAD THE EMISSIONS UPDATED AT CORTESE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2400 W HENRIETTA RD, #2324, ROCHESTER, NY 14623, (800) 952-7892) IN JUNE OF 2019. SINCE THEN, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S OVERALL PERFORMANCE DECREASED BY 25%. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST POWER, LOST ACCELERATION, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER AND INFORM THEM OF THE FAILURES. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT INFORMED THEM THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THEN ACCELERATE SUDDENLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS INTENDED AND CLOSED THE CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
2015 RAM 1500 WITH 69,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN TRUCK GETS TO A HALF TANK OF GAS HAD THE CODE CHECKED P0463 FUEL SENSOR LEVEL. NOW I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK BECAUSE CANT TRUST THE FUEL GAUGE WHILE TRAVELING ALSO TRUCK WONT START WITH REMOTE START WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. FROM DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM . ITS SAD THAT YOU PAY SO MUCH MONEY FOR A TRUCK AND HAVE TO DEAL WITH SITUATIONS LIKE THIS.
MY VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND HAVE NEVER BEEN MODIFIED. AFTER THE ADVANCE ENGINE MODIFICATION (V08), I NOTICE A DELAY ON THE THROTTLE. SCARY ENOUGH TO NOT BEING ABLE PULL OUT OF THE WAY OF ACCIDENT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER AT INITIAL PUSH WHEN OVER TAKING BUT WHEN IT GETS THERE IT WILL MAINTAIN THE SPEED.
FCA'S APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION SOFTWARE WAS INSTALLED IN MY TRUCK AND NOW IT HAS LOST ITS POWER AND THERE IS A LONG TURBO GAP WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD THE TRUCK WILL HARDLY TAKE OFF FROM A STOP SIGN. I HAVE REGISTERED A COMPLAINT WITH RAM AND THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT ABOUT THE UPDATE AND RAM HAS NOT CONTACTED ME WITH ANY INFORMATION.
AFTER COMPLETING THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION, PER THE FCA-EPA LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT, I'VE NOTICED SUBSTANTIAL TURBO LAG AND SHIFTING ISSUES (HOLDING GEAR TOO LONG). THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO STREETS OR EXPRESSWAYS WHERE I NEED TO ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED QUICKLY. THERE IS A 3-5 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE TURBO BEGINS SPOOLING AND MY TRUCK BEGINS ACCELERATING.
I AM WRITING THIS FOR MY ELDERLY FATHER. HE HAS A 2015 RAM 1500 DIESEL PICK UP TRUCK THAT FALLS UNDER THE ECO DIESEL SETTLEMENT (CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT). MY DAD HAD THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION (AEM) THAT WAS REQUIRED TO UPDATE THE EMISSIONS CONTROL SOFTWARE ON MAY 28, 2019. AFTER THE AEM COMPLETED BY THE DEALER, THE TRUCK HAD THROTTLE ISSUES. WHEN MY DAD PUSHED THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY LAG TO THE POINT OF NOT ACCELERATING. THIS IS A **CONTINUOUS** AND DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE FACTORY SUPPLIED SOFTWARE UPDATE. MY DAD MADE A COMPLAINT TO THE DEALER THREE HOURS AFTER THE AEM WAS UPDATED ON 5/28/19. HE ALSO COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 6, 7, 8 2019 AND ON MANY OTHER OCCASIONS. THEY TELL HIM IT COULD TAKE 6 MONTHS TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION. THE FACTORY "FIX" HAS NOW CREATED A DANGEROUS CONDITION. THE DEALER EITHER CAN'T OR WON'T FIX IT. MANY PEOPLE HAVE APPARENTLY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER TO WHERE THE DEALER IS NOW ADVISING VEHICLE OWNERS TO NOT INSTALL THE FACTORY AEM "FIX". THE DEALER TELLS MY DAD THAT FACTORY/CORPORATE IS WORKING ON A FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNSPECIFIED MANUFACTURER'S RECALL (EMISSION MODIFICATION), THE VEHICLE HESITATED AFTER A STOP. MT. ORAB CHRYSLER (937-453-3442, LOCATED AT 110 CABBARD WAY, MT. ORAB, OH 45154-7507) PERFORMED THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER COULD NOT BE REACHED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS EXPECTED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS TO ENABLE THE VEHICLE TO PASS EMISSIONS INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING MORE TO ASSIST. MY RAM 1500 WAS TAKEN TO DEALER BECAUSE OF THE "RECALL U07 DX 8-SPEED ROTARY." AS I PULLED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP I HAD NO POWER FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS. I DROVE THE TRUCK 5 MILES, STILL HAVING "LAG TIME" WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THEY HAD TO "REGENERATE" THE RECALL. THEY DID SO, BUT THE RESULT WAS STILL "LAG TIME." THEY THEN INFORMED ME IT WOULD TAKE "TIME" FOR THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION "COMPUTERS" TO SYNCHRONIZE. I HAVE DRIVEN THE RAM OVER 100 MILES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. AFTER CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT OF ECODIESEL AND AFTER AEM INSTALLED (MODIFICATION OF ECM AND TCM FOR EMISSIONS) THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL LAG (TURBO, TRANSMISSION) THAT RESULTS IN THE VEHICLE NOT ACCELERATING- LIKE YOUR DEAD IN THE WATER. WHEN PULLING INTO A BUSY LANE OF TRAFFIC IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
I HAD PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE EFFECT OF THE AEM (V08) ECODIESEL CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT RECALL. THE NUMBER OF THE PREVIOUS COMPLAINT IS: 11210536. IN ADDITION TO WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AS DANGEROUS/SAFETY RELATED, THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER A COLD START, ALTHOUGH APPARENTLY RUNNING SMOOTHLY, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, WILL NOT. A TURTLE COULD OUT RUN THE VEHICLE. IT TAKES OVER 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING TO GET A MORE REASONABLE ACCELERATION. AGAIN, REGARDLESS OF A COLD START, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AFTER NORMAL DRIVING, THEN SLOWING, AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT TAKES SEVERAL SECONDS FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT AND FOR THE TURBO LAG TO GO AWAY - VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING IN FRONT OF OR MERGING WITH TRAFFIC.
RECENT ECM UPDATE BY FCA HAS DETUNED MY TRUCK. LOSS OF MPG, TURBO LAG, CAUSING FIRES.
VERY WEAK ACCELERATION AFTER AEM UPDATE
RE: 2015 RAM 1500 PICKUP WITH 3.0 ECODIESEL ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FOLLOWING THE V08 EMISSIONS RECALL, DRIVABILITY HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY REDUCED AND HAS CREATED DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG AND IMPROPER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTION. I WOULD SUMMARIZE THESE ISSUES AS TURBO LAG AND IMPROPER SHIFT MAPPING. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THERE IS A 2-3 SECOND LAG BEFORE THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE EVEN IF THE THROTTLE IS FULLY DEPRESSED. IF YOU ARE EXECUTING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC OR CROSSING AN INTERSECTION THIS WILL LEAVE YOU EXPOSED TO A "T-BONE" COLLISION. AFTER THIS LAG IT WILL THEN ACCELERATE RAPIDLY AT FULL THROTTLE, MUCH FASTER THAN YOU ARE EXPECTING. IF YOU ARE EXECUTING A TURN THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OR A WIDER TURN THAN DESIRED, POSSIBLY INTO ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC OR OFF THE FAR SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS BEHAVIOR IS EVEN MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RUN (COLD ENGINE). CLIMBING A MODERATE HILL SHORTLY AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY FORCES THE DRIVER TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO FIRST GEAR TO GET ANY FORWARD TRAVEL. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WILL RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AFTER THE 2-3 SECOND LAG. ONCE RETURNING TO "DRIVE" AT 15-25 MPH THE TRANSMISSION WILL UP-SHIFT SEVERAL GEARS AND THEN BEGIN SLOWING, DROPPING ENGINE RPM TO 1,000, AGAIN FORCING A MANUAL DOWN-SHIFT TO SECOND OR THIRD GEAR TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THE ENGINE PRODUCES ALMOST NO POWER UNTIL THE ENGINE REACHES 2000 RPM. ALL OF THIS BEHAVIOR BEGAN AFTER THE NOTED RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED A RAM DEALER REGARDING THIS PERFORMANCE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. THEY MENTIONED THAT THE FACTORY WAS AWARE OF THIS BUT HAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. *JS
AFTER THE AEM UPDATE RELATED TO THE ECO DIESEL EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT, THE TRUCK HAS A DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG, ESPECIALLY AT COLD START. I HAVE PULLED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY TO HAVE ESSENTIALLY NO RESPONSE BEFORE A VEHICLE COMES ALONG AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I CAN PUT THE PEDAL ON THE FLOOR AND IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE THE TRUCK FINALLY STARTS TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS WITH AN EMPTY TRUCK BUT IS EVEN MORE DANGEROUS WHEN TOWING. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH OF THIS IS THROTTLE RESPONSE, TRANSMISSION OR TURBO LAG BUT IT IS A SCARY FEELING TO NOT BE ABLE TO MERGE NORMALLY INTO TRAFFIC. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED A REFLASH OF THE COMPUTER TO ADJUST THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE BETTER FOR A SHORT PERIOD BUT IT IS AS BAD AS EVER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE AND FUEL LIGHTS TURN ON PLUS THE FUEL NEEDLE MOVED TO EMPTY KNOWING I JUST FILLED UP ONE DAY EARLIER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE FUEL SENSOR. OTHER DODGE OWNERS ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER THE VEHICLE MILEAGE REACHED 60,000 OR OVER. MINE TURNED ON AT 63K. MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX IT TUESDAY JUNE 18, 2019 AFTER I SAW A REVIEW IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE WHILE DRIVING.
IN MAY 2019, RAM RELEASED THE V08 RECALL AS PART OF AN AEM DUE TO EMISSIONS COMPLAINTS. AFTER HAVING THIS RECALL DONE, MY DRIVEABILITY AND ACCELERATION HAS BECOME UNSAFE. TRYING TO TURN ONTO A FEEDER ROAD OR MERGE INTO TRAFFIC IS BASICALLY DANGEROUS. OFTEN, IT SEEMS TO HAVE A "DEAD PEDAL." I CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL AND OFTEN ABLE TO COUNT TO 3 BEFORE THE TRUCK ACTUALLY BEGINS TO MOVE SMOOTHLY.
"AEM RECALL" FOLLOWING THE AEM RECALL ON THE DODGE RAM ECODIESEL, VEHICLE EXPERIENCES DEAD SPOTS IN IT ACCELERATION. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, EVEN TO THE FLOOR, PROVIDES NO INPUT TO THE TRUCK FOR 3-5 SECONDS. THIS ISSUE HAS PLACED MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER IN MULTIPLE INTERSECTIONS AND IN MERGING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED DEMINISHED FUEL MILEAGE OF OVER 3MPG. FCA SPECIFICALLY STATES THE FOLLOWING: "THE AEM IS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF YOUR KEY VEHICLE ATTRIBUTES, SUCH AS AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY, RELIABILITY, DURABILITY, VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, DRIVABILITY, ENGINE NOISE OR VIBRATION, OR OTHER DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS. CLICK HERE TO READ THE COURT APPROVED NOTICE THAT INCLUDES IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT THE EFFECT OF THE AEM ON YOUR VEHICLE." ALMOST ALL OF THE VEHICLE CHARACTERISTICS LISTED ARE AFFECTED IN A NEGATIVE WAY. IN DOING SO, FCA IS PLACING ALL ECODIESEL OWNERS AT RISK.
RAM FLASHED THE COMPUTER ON MY TRUCK TO COMPLY WITH THE DIESEL EMISSIONS LAWSUIT. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE FLASH AND TRIED TO ENTER THE TRAFFIC LANE THE TRUCK BARELY RESPONDED TO THE THROTTLE. THERE WAS A HUGE DELAY AND IF NOT FOR A PULL OFF AREA I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. HOW THEY GOT THIS FLASH APPROVED MAKES ME WONDER WHAT IS GOING ON WITH PROVIDING SAFETY IN A VEHICLE. I CONSIDER WHAT THEY DID TO MY TRUCK CRIMINAL.
FIAT CHRYSLER (FCA) RECENTLY SETTLED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AFFECTING MY RAM ECODIESEL TRUCK. AFTER THAT SETTLEMENT, I WAS REQUIRED TO GET A SOFTWARE FLASH CALLED THE "APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATOIN" (AEM). AFTER RECEIVING THAT SOFTWARE "FIX", MY TRUCK DRIVES NOTABLY DIFFERENT AND IS NOW VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE HUGE DROP IN POWER AND INCREASE IN TURBO LAG. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD OR NOT COMPLETELY UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE, I EXPERIENCE ALMOST NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY BY MY HOUSE. THERE IS A HUGE AMOUNT OF TURBO LAG, TO THE TUNE OF SEVERAL SECONDS, WHICH MAKES PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC A VERY DANGEROUS EVENT. THIS WAS NEVER AN ISSUE PRIOR TO THE REQUIRED AEM UPDATE, SO I'M FILING A COMPLAINT TO OUTLINE THIS DRASTIC DECREASE IN PERFORMANCE WHICH IS DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS FOR THOUSANDS IF NOT MILLIONS OF RAM AND JEEP CUSTOMERS.
MY TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN THE EPA LAWSUIT AGAINST FCA FOR THE ECODIESEL. THE SETTLEMENT INVOLVED ME TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SOFTWARE CHANGE. UNDER THE AGREEMENT IT WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO AFFECT THE DRIVABILITY OF THE TRUCK. AFTER THE SOFTWARE CHANGE MY TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND PULLED INTO TRAFFIC AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE I CONTACTED FCA AND OPENED A CASE. I WAS TOLD THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND DO NOT HAVE A FIX. I NOW HAVE A TRUCK I CAN NOT PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITH. I JUST DON'T WANT ANYONE GETTING KILLED OR INJURED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT TEST THE UPDATE. AFTER GETTING THE MOST RECENT 'V08' RECALL ON MY 2015 RAM ECO DIESEL I'VE SINCE HAD EXTREME LAG ON THE TRUCK WHEN TAKING OFF. THIS MAKE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE BEFORE THE UPDATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE OEPRATING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THE EXHAUST AND NOTICED THAT THE BOLTS THAT SECURED THE EXHAUST WERE LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE RESULTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,300. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LOWER SPEEDS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING TURNS, WHICH INCREASED THE RISK OF A CRASH. REAGLE DODGE RAM (1223 BLUE VALLEY DR, PEN ARGYL, PA 18072, (610) 863-6900) DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WAS FAILING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA AND THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MOTOR HAS BEEN UPDATED HAS NO POWER AND LOST MILEAGE. FROM 22 TO 17 MPG. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWNSHIFTS AT STOP MAKING ACCELERATION SLOW.UNTILL GEARS SHIFT. PEDAL MUST BE ON FLOORBOARD.
AS A RESULT OF THE EPA LAWSUIT AGAINST FCA, MY 2015 RAM ECODIESEL HAD THE APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION PERFORMED BY A DEALER ON MAY 10, 2019. ON MAY 11, 2019, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (!) THE INTAKE MANIFOLD VALVING FAILED DUE TO A MAJOR PORTION OF MY EMISSIONS SYSTEM FAILING (EGR VALVE AND EGR COOLER) RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO THE DEALER ON MAY 12. REPLACEMENT OF THE EGR SYSTEM AND INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REQUIRED. NUMEROUS PARTS DELAYS FOLLOWED. THEN, WHILE TRYING TO REPLACE A GLOW PLUG, THE GLOW PLUG THREADS WERE FOUND TO BE SEIZED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD (THIS IS ANOTHER COMMON PROBLEM WITH FCA ECODIESEL MOTORS AND COSTS THE CUSTOMER $3000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR.) MORE PART DELAYS. WHEN ALL PARTS FINALLY ARRIVED THE VEHICLE WOULD START BUT NOT CONTINUE RUNNING. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE OTHER CYLINDER HEAD. ESTIMATED PART AVAILABILITY IS NOV. 19, 2019 (TODAY IS 26AUG2019). FCA NEEDS TO REPLACE THESE MOTORS AT A MINIMUM OR BUYBACK THE VEHICLES AND REPLACE THEM.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN MANY DODGE RAM 1500 PICKUP TRUCKS. INDICATING THERE IS A FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM. IF YOU USE THE REMOTE START THE ENGINE IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS DOWN WITHIN 15 SECONDS AS IF YOU HAVE NO FUEL. DEALERSHIPS ARE CHARGING $1,000.00 TO FIX A WIDESPREAD MANUFACTURING ISSUE. WHY MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE NHTSA DATA BASE REGARDING THE RAM 1500 PICK UP RECALL FOR 2014-2016 VEHICLES? INVOLVING MAJORITY OF THE DRIVE TRAIN, EXHAUST, EVC, AND AIR INTAKE.
FOLLOWING RECIEVING THE ECU UPDATE FOR THE AEM RECALL DUE TO EMISSIONS ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE LAGS CONSIDERABLY WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SO FAR THE MANUFACTURER IS SAYING THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH A COLD VEHICLE, HOWEVER, I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURES WHILE UNLOAD AND WHILE TOWING. THIS LAG WHEN TOWING HAS CAUSED MY TRUCK AND TRAILER COMBINATION TO START TO GO BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL THAT MY HOUSE RESIDES ON. AFTER THE TRUCK LAGS WHEN THE POWER KICKS IN IT DOES NOT EASE IN ON THE POWER IT JUST JUMPS STRAIGHT IN NEARLY CAUSING THE TIRES TO SPIN. SO FAR THE ONLY WAY AROUND THIS THAT I HAVE FOUND IS TO MANUALLY CONTROL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WHEN STARTING OUT SLOW ON HILLS.
