ON 9/21/18 MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND HIS TRUCK SHUT OFF CAUSING HIM TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN HE DID HE NOTICED SOME LIGHT SMOKE. HE TRIED TO POP THE HOOD BUT IT WOULDN'T POP SO HE GOT OUT AND TRIED TO SEE IF IT WAS CAUGHT AND SAW MORE SMOKE HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO SEE STUFF DRIPPING LIKE MELTING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AT THAT TIME HE WENT TO WALK AROUND THE TRUCK TO LOOK FOR A FIRE EXTINGUISHER WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION CAUSING HIM TO RUN BACK FROM THE TRUCK AND CALL 911. IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES THE ENTIRE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND IN THE 25 IT TOOK THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ARRIVE THE ENTIRE TRUCK EXCEPT THE BED AND REAR TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BURNT DOWN. 5 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS THE ENGINE IN THIS ECODIESEL BLEW UP WHILE HE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND CHRYSLER DID AN COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT ON IT UNDER WARRANTY AND DUE TO THEIR FAULT. THE NEW ENGINE ONLY HAD 10-15K MILES ON IT AND TO REPLACE THIS ENGINE YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE ENTIRE TRUCK APART LIKE A LEGO CAB AND ALL. RAM IS NOT COMING OUT WITH AN ECODIESEL IN THE 1500 IN 2019 BUT CHRYSLER IS NOT OWNING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TRUCK ALMOST KILLING MY HUSBAND. THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON FIRE AND ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY WHEN IT BURNT DOWN. IT WAS IN MOTION AND ON AN INTERSTATE WHEN THE FIRST ENGINE BLEW WITH ONLY 84K MILES ON A DIESEL.
TWICE WITH IN A PERIOD OF THREE WEEKS THE SAME ISSUE/FAILURE HAS OCCURED. "SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL". BOTH TIMES THE ISSUE OCCURED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AT FREEWAT SPEEDS, WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. BITH OCCURENCES RESILYED IN TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION. I WAS LEFT WITH LIMITED ABILITY TO MANUEVER ON THE FREEWAY, TO THE RIGHT LANES, AS WELL AS LIMITED ABILITY TO MANEUVER AND AVOID TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND, AS WELL TO SWITCH LANES TO EXIT THE FREEWAY SAFELY. ONCE EXITED HE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY REACH A TOP SPEED OF 39MPH. BITH TIMES THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THE ISSUE AS AN EGR VALVE PROBLEM.
I HAVE RECEIVED VARIOUS RECALL NOTICES ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS TO SEE IF THIS CAR QUALIFIES AS A LEMON. THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE DIFFERENT DEALER SHIPS, BUT HAVE MORE THAN 5 RECALLS IS A BIT TOO MUCH.
DASHBOARD SAYS AIRBAG NEEDS MAINTENANCE.
METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE ENGINE AND I HAVE BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY FOR REPEATED AND ONGOING REPAIRS SINCE FALL OF 2018 THE FIRST DEALERSHIP DID NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE WHEN THE METAL FRAGMENTS WERE FOUND IN MY ENGINE AFTER A CYLINDER MISFIRE 5 AND 7 THEY CONTINUED WITH ALL KINDS OF REPAIRS AND DID FURTHER DAMAGE TO MY ENTIRE TRUCK. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD AND GIVEN PROOF FOR MY VIN THAT I NEED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO DO IT BASED ON THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND STAND BEHIND THE INITIAL PROBLEM AND WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE (ENGINE MARK SERVICE MANAGER . THEY DECIDED TO CONTINUE WITH PART REPLACEMENT AFTER PART REPLACEMENT WHICH IS BILLED TO CHRYSLER UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY THAT I HAVE ON MY TRUCK. I BELIEVE THEY NOT ONLY LIED BUT COMMITTED FRAUD WITH ALL OF THESE REPAIRS. THEY COULD NOT EVEN STOP THE OIL FROM LEAKING EACH TIME THEY SENT MY VEHICLE HOME WITH ME. I TOOK IT TO BILLION IN BOZEMAN TO HAVE THEM LOOK OVER FOR DAMAGES AND SEE IF MY TRUCK WAS PROPERLY REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE ENGINE OIL AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE REPAIRS. BUT BUTTE DECIDED TO MILK MY TRUCK AND CHRYSLER FOR HOURS AND HOURS AS WELL AS PARTS THAT WHO KNOWS IF THEY REALLY REPLACED THEM. THEY ALSO DAMAGED A HANDFUL OF THINGS ON MY TRUCK THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED AT BILLION DODGE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED OR TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AS BUTTE MILE HIGH HAS DONE. IN TALKING TO OTHERS THAT KNOW VEHICLE ENGINE REPAIR THERE WERE PARTS THAT DO NOT BREAK THAT THEY CLAIMED BROKE, THEY ALSO STATED THEY HONED A CYLINDER WHICH WOULD HAVE REQUIRED THEM PULLING THE ENGINE AND PROPER HONING IS ALL CYLINDERS, NOT JUST ONE. THEY ALSO CUT PIECES OUT OF MY BASICALLY NEWER TRUCK (52,000) MILES AND LEFT DAMAGES.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE ENGAGED , AS I WAS TRAVELING UP HILL ON A WINDY 2 LANE ROAD!. SCARY!
THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 66,000 MILES, YET THE POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS CONTAMINATION WITHIN THE CIRCUIT BOARD THAT AFFECTED THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY WHITE'S ENERGY MOTORS CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM (203 MOTOR CT, GILLETTE, WY 82718, 307-687-0499) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V167000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE SYMPTOMS WERE THE SAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
WHILE LEAVING WORK, I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL AND IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. IT WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND I HAD TROUBLE KEEPING THE VEHICLE WITHIN A SINGLE LANE. THEN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK BACK AND FORTH AT TIMES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY ADVISED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ON MY VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I LOOKED ONLINE THAT SIMILAR 2015 RAM'S ACTUALLY HAD A RECALL ON THIS EXACT PART, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED FOR THE RECALL. MY 3YR/36K WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED IN MAY 2018, BUT I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THE PART WAS COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY HAD ORDERED THE PART. THEY ADVISED THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER 2018. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, 10-3-18,AND THEY STATED THE PART WOULD NOT BE IN AT THE EARLIEST 11-26-18. POSSIBLY NOT UNTIL NEXT YEAR.
TRUCK ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 RAM 1500 ECO-DIESEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A STORAGE LOT AND THEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND FILED CASE NUMBER: 35040343. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ISSUE: VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE WHILE IDLING WITH DRIVER DOOR OPENED. TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS ON A FLAT GRADE AND HIT A HONDA CIVIC IN THE REAR BUMPER WITH THE OPENED DRIVERS DOOR WHICH FOLDED BACK ONTO THE FRONT DRIVERS FENDER. KNOW ONE WAS IN EITHER VEHICLE AND NO INJURIES OCCURRED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE SHOULDER OF A RESIDENTIAL STREET. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK (VEHICLE RUNNING) WALKED UP THE SIDEWALK TO THE HOME HEARD A CRUNCH, LOOKED BACK AND SAW THE VEHICLES TOGETHER. I WAS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE AT LEASE 3 MINUTES BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED CIDDY CORNER TO THE REAR OF THE HONDA APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. I WOULD HAVE KNOWN IMMEDIATELY IF THE TRUCK WAS IN REVERSE AFTER GETTING OUT OF IT AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MOVING. IT WASN'T UNTIL A MINUTE OR TWO THAT IT BEGAN TO MOVE INTO REVERSE. IT WENT BACK 10 FEET AND WAS STOPPED WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR HOOKED ONTO THE REAR BUMPER OF THE CIVIC. THIS ISSUE IS DUE TO A BAD CONTROL DIAL ON THE DASH IN MY OPINION.
FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR "B" CIRCUIT. U0100 LOST COMUNICATION WITH ECM/PCM
ECODIESEL TRUCK FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, STARTING FROM A STOP AND WHEN IDLING WHENEVER FUEL TANK REACHES 1/4 FULL OR LESS. TRUCK IS DIFFICULT HARD TO START WHEN AT 1/3 FUEL LEVEL. ON JUNE 28TH 2018 AFTER TRUCK SHUT OFF ON FREEWAY BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND I NEED TO KEEP THE FUEL TANK GREATER THAN QUARTER TANK FUEL TO PREVENT THE TRUCK FROM SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION AND IT'S VERY SCARY TO BE DRIVING WITH A LARGE TRAILER AND YOUR TRUCK SHUTS OFF ON THE ROAD.
TAILGATE HAS FALLEN OPEN TWICE WITHOUT NOTICE. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I HAD JUST STARTED MY TRUCK AND WAS PARKED, THE TAILGATE FELL OPEN, HITTING A TREE AND DENTED THE TAILGATE. THE SECOND TIME I JUST PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND THE TAILGATE FELL OPEN AND I ALMOST LOST THE LOAD IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK BED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO A STOP. I GOT MY TRUCK TOWED TO A SHOP AND FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THE ENGINE ROD BOLTS HAD BACKED OUT AND ALLOWED THE ROD TO COME OFF OF THE CRANKSHAFT. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 71,000 MILES ON IT AND AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH FOUND THIS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE IN COMPARISON TO OTHER ENGINES. I DISCOVERED THIS CONDITION OCCURS AT RANDOM MILES AND IN MOST CASES WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE ENGINE FAILS YOU LOSE POWER TO CRITICAL COMPONENTS LIKE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING, IN SOME CASES COULD LEAD TO A FIRE AS WELL. LUCKILY I WAS ON A ROAD THAT ALLOWED ME TO STOP SAFELY.
RECENTLY HAD THE POWER STEERING UNIT REPLACED BY FCA (50% MY COST) AND FILED A NHTSA COMPLAINT. AFTER APPROX 2,000 MILES HAS DEVELOPED VERY STIFF AND JERKY STEERING ASSIST. WHEEL WILL NOT RETURN TO CENTER WHEN YOU LET GO, AND TURNING CORNERS IS A TWO HANDED, REDUCED SPEED AFFAIR AS NOT TO COLLIDE WITH OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE STEERING SHAFT IS BAD. I CAN SPRAY LUBRICANT ON IT AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY FOR A WHILE THEN RETURNS AS IT DRIES OUT. *TT
POWER STEERING IS INTERMITTENT AND CAN UNEXPECTEDLY BECOME VERY HARD TO STEER.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP, VEHICLE FUEL SHIFTS IN TANK FORCING VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY FORWARD UNDER BRAKING. IF UNPREPARED FOR THE SHIFT, WHICH ONLY HAPPENS UNDER BRAKING WHEN THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS, THE TRUCK WILL OVERPOWER THE CURRENTLY APPLIED BRAKES TAKING MORE TIME TO STOP. THIS CAN RESULT IN A COLLISION WITH A STOPPED VEHICLE OR OBJECT IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT APPLY HARDER BRAKING.

RIVERHEAD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (624 W MAIN STREET, RIVERHEAD, NY) REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PURCHASED FROM THEM, AND ALSO THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A GUARDRAIL AT ABOUT 45 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. RAM TRUCK IS COMING TO LOOK AT IT TO SEE WHY THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY. I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO TURN TO THAT'S WHY I AM CONTACTING YOU AND LETTING YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. NOBODY WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED I WAS ON ROUTE US 35 HEADING WEST IN BEAVERCREEK OHIO. *TT
LACK OF ACCELERATION FROM STILL TO PASSING GEAR. RPMS GO UP AND SLOWLY ACCELERATE
HEADLIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF THEN TURN BACK ON SO FAST IF YOU BLINK YOU MISS IT. HAVE NOT NOTICED A PATTERN IN WHEN IT HAPPENS. ONLY TIME I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT HAPPENING IS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON WHILE VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING. HAVE TALKED TO FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERS AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY STILL NO HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V332000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STAUNTON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (907 W FRONTAGE RD, STAUNTON, IL) TO BE REPAIRED. TWO MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING 61 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE SPEED INCREASED TO 70 MPH DOWN A HILL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHILE DRIVING UP AND DOWN THE HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE APPROXIMATELY 12 MPH WHILE DRIVING ON A DECLINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,567. *TT *JB
Manifold bolts have sheared causing exhaust leak while occasionally enters cab area when not in motion. Issue was brought to the attention of dealer on 4 different occasions when under warranty and no repair was made. Ram customer care was contacted now that the power train warranty has expired and no solution was offered. This is a well documented issue and I am concerned about the safety risk.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND FLAMES WERE SEEN NEAR THE REAR OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE BY THROWING SAND ON THE ENGINE AND A PASSERBY WAS ABLE TO ASSIST WITH EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PLANET DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (9975 NW 12TH ST, MIAMI, FL 33172, (305) 470-8000) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A BURNT AND MELTED EGR COOLER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THERE ISN'T ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE ENTIRE ORDEAL, BUT I WILL DO MY BEST TO CONGEST IT. JUNE 19TH: WENT TO DEALER SHIP WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NOBODY THERE KNEW WHAT IT MEANT, AND THEY ERASED IT AND TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT UNLESS IT COMES BACK. JULY 3RD: VACATION TRIP, ABOUT 2 HOURS INTO DRIVING, TRUCK LOOSES THROTTLE, SOLID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, "SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" SMOKE COMING FROM ENGINE BAY, SMELLED LIKE PLASTIC TO ME. FOUND WHAT LOOKED LIKE A MELTED QUARTER SIZED BOILING SPOT ON THE MANIFOLD? I BELIEVE. CHECKED THAT ENGINE LIGHT WAS SOLID, AND ON JUNE 19TH WAS TOLD IF LIGHT IS SOLID, IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE, IF IT'S BLINKING SHUT OFF IMEDIATELY. IT WAS SOLID. VACATION'S OVER, DRIVE BACK TO VEGAS AT ABOUT 40-50MPH (TRUCK WOULDN'T GO ANY FASTER) ON BLINKERS THE WHOLE WAY WITH MY FIANCEE IN THE PASSANGER SEAT, AND 3 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT. AN HOUR OURSIDE OF VEGAS, TRUCK WAS THROWING FLAME BALLS AND SPARKS OUT THE REAR, IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF TO THE DESERT, AND EVACUATED MY SON AND FIANCEE. GRABBED RED BULLS AND GREEN TEAS TO DOUSE THE FIRE. GOT THE FIRE OUT AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. IF I DIDN'T NOTICE THE SPARKS OR FIREBALLS, OR IF A FUEL LINE CAUGHT ON FIRE, WE COULD HAVE DIED. THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK WAS BURNED AND THE DPF ON THE EXHAUST WAS GLOWING BRIGHT RED STILL. I SPOKE WITH AN ORIGINAL ENGINEER ON THE TRUCK, THROUGH A FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THESE TRUCKS, WHICH HE STATES 2 WEEKS PRIOR WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN, THE EGR MUST HAVE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING, AND THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BRUSHED ME OFF. WHICH LED TO IT STICKING OPEN, AND BLOWING A HOLE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD (THE BURNING PLASTIC SMELL) WHEN I WAS DRIVING BACK TO SAFETY (IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE), A REGENERATION OCCURED CAUSING THE DPF TO FILL UP, AND ESSENTIALLY EXPLODE, AND CATCH THE TRUCK ON FIRE. TRUCK IS AWAITING REPS FROM DETROIT.
ENGINE FIRE. CHRYSLER DENIED RESPONSIBILITY. TRUCK WAS IN MOTION. LOST ENGINE OIL PRESSURE AND PULLED OVER. FIRE WAS UNDER THE HOOD.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the bolts located on the exhaust manifold persistently fractured. Due to the failure, there was an abnormally strong gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. BOTH TIMES EGR LEAKED INTERNALLY CAUSING COOLANT TO BE SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE AND BURNED. LEAK WAS SLOW AT A RATE OF 1 GALLON OR SO PER WEEK OF 1500 MILES OF DRIVING PER WEEK. BOTH TIMES EGR COOLER WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SEEMS LIKE FAILURE ONLY OCCURS WHILE TOWING FOR PROLONGED PERIOD. FIRST EGR COOLER WAS REPLACED NOV 2017. NO TOWING UNTIL JUNE 2018 WHEN IT FAILED. SECOND COOLER REPLACED AUG 2018. FIRST COOLER ONLY LEAKED INTERNALLY. SECOND LEAKED INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY AT THE COOLANT SEALS. COOLANT BEING INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE CAN EASILY DAMAGE THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS. MANY COMPLAINTS ON DODGE RAM ECO DIESEL FORUMS ABOUT FAULTY EGR COOLERS.

MY TRUCK KEEPS LOOKING UP THE STEERING WHEEL. EVERY MORNING WHEN I FIRST START THE TRUCK I HAVE TO LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. AFTER THE 45 MINUTES I TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE STEERING WILL UNLOCK. ITS UNLOCKS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMP REACHES ABOUT 190 DEGREES. SOMETIMES THE STEERING LOCKS WHILE I'M DRIVING. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO DOGE AND THEY SAID FOR ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AND PAY FOR AN ESTIMATE THEN TO SEND IT TO THEM FOR THEM TO SEE IF THEY'LL COVER IT. MY HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK FOR OTHER RECALLS TO PLANET DODGE IN MIAMI AND THEY'VE TOLD ME THEY'VE HAD PLENTY OF TRUCKS LIKE MINE COME IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN TOWED TO COLLISION CENTER I ADDRESSED MY CONCERNS TO THEM THAT I FELT MY VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE DUE TO THE TRUCK MAINTAINING SPEED WHILE I WAS APPLYING BRAKES. THEY PLUGGED IT INTO SCAN TOOL AND FOUR DEFAULT CODES CAME UP. (ABS,AIRBAG,POWER STEERING,DOOR MODULE)I THEN PROCEEDED TO OPEN A CLAIM WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER. WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN CONCERN THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INVESTIGATED WAS WHY DEFAULT CODES CAME UP & TRUCK WAS NOT STOPPING TO AVOID COLLISION. THE ECO DIESEL ENGINE IN MY TRUCK ON THE THIRD INCIDENT, TOTALLY SEIZED UP AND I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS FINISHED AND THE DEALER WOULD TRY TO GET ME A NEW ONE. THEY CAME BACK AND SAID IT WOULD TAKE A MINIMUM OF TWO MONTHS, IF THEY COULD GET ONE AT ALL, BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS THEY WERE HAVING WITH ECODIESEL ENGINES. I BASICALLY, WAS FORCED TO TRADE IT IN TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. ON TWO OCCASIONS OF THE THREE INCIDENTS, IT NEAL\RLY KILLED ME, OR AT LEAST A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

POWER ASSIST STEERING SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WAS INOPERATIVE DURING A TURN. VEHICLE CROSSED THE LANE MARKER INTO TRAFFIC AND NARROWLY MISSED A COLLISION WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL. TOOK TO A DEALER SHIP (GLOCKNER OF ASHLAND KY) AND THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 4 WEEKS AND COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THERE WERE NO CODES PRESENT IN THE COMPUTER OR WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH INDICATING A MALFUNCTION. 3 DAYS LATER I TOOK IT TO KUNES COUNTRY OF MACOMB IL AND THEY DETERMINED THE POWER RACK STEERING ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,430. I DECLINED. WILL FIX MYSELF. NEW UNIT FROM DETROIT AXLE IS $1,399. VEHICLE HAD 44,800 MILES AT THE TIME OF MALFUNCTION. *TT

I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED 2 TIMES AND IT APPEARS TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUES TEMPORARILY. CURRENTLY IT IS EVERY 8TH TIME THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED AND THEN LOCKED. WHILE WORKING ON MY TRUCK, I LEFT 1 BOX SITTING BESIDE THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE. I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND JUST THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD A FIREPLACE BURNING. MY SON CAME OUT AND ASKED ME WHY THE BOX WAS SMOKING. THE SUN REFLECTING FROM THE CHOME WHEEL CAUSED THE BOX TO CATCH ON FIRE. THIS OCCURRED ON 8 APRIL 2018 IN PASADENA, MD AT APPROX. 5 P.M. THE LEFT HAND CONTROLS ON THE STEERING HAVE QUIT WORKING. THE IS NO WAY TO RESET THE OIL CHANGE ERROR AFTER CHANGING THE OIL. YOU CAN NOT USE ANY OF THE LEFT HAND CONTROLS.
ENTIRE TRUCK SHAKES INSIDE AT 50+MPH AND DOES NOT GO AWAY THE FASTER YOU DRIVE. THE SHAKE STARTED WITH FACTORY TIRES AND SINCE PUTTING NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE THE SHAKES CONTINUE, FEELS LIKE A DRIVE LINE VIBRATION OR SOMETHING IN THE REAR END.. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY BLAMED THE NEW TIRES AND WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE FURTHER BUT THE SHAKE WAS THERE PRIOR TO THE NEW TIRES AT THE SAME SPEEDS, I'VE HAD THE NEW TIRES ROAD FORCED BALANCED 3 TIMES AND EACH TIME THE COMPANY SAID MY TIRES ARE OK. LIFTING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE UP MYSELF AND PUTTING INTO DRIVE THE RIGHT REAR LOOKS AS IF THERE IS A WOBBLE FROM THE AXLE SHAFT AND LOTS OF NOISE FROM REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS FOR JULY 2015 ON ABOUT IMPROPER HEAT TREATMENT BUT MY BUILD DATE WAS MAY 2015 AND THINK THAT THIS TRUCK IS AFFECTED AS WELL. THIS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN BECAUSE THOSE AXLES THAT WERE DEFECTIVE HAVE A POSSIBILITY OF BREAKING WHILE DRIVING AND SEEMS UNSAFE WHEN YOUR TRANSPORTING FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE.

I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURVE WHEN SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BEFORE GOING OFF OF THE COLVERT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THERE WASN'T ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER LANE AND THAT I COULD SLOW DOWN TO PREVENT VEHICLE DAMAGE. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS VERY DANGEROUS! IT MAY NOT SOUND THAT BAD JUST LOSING POWER STEERING BUT WHEN YOU DO NOT EXPECT IT AND IT HAPPENS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AROUND CURVES OR AT THE STOP LIGHT MAKING A RIGHT AND TIGHT TURN.
