Vehicle will lose all power steering without warning, and in a pattern that I cannot predict. First time it happened I was towing a trailer through the mountains and was in the middle of a curve, nearly causing me to wreck. It then went away after turning the truck off, however it is continuously happening at random moments now and it’s to the point I’ve had to park the truck because of the liability. I have not had it inspected by a shop yet, but will have it done in the near future.

My truck has an abs light warning that came on. When I went to start vehicle the shifter knob (electronic) says it needs service. Cannot drive vehicle. Have towed vehicle to 3 different garages and all say the ABS module needs to be replaced. This part 68295368AC is not available new in the United States. Apparently the part is being redesigned and will be released in April of 2024. The dealership said I could find a used or refurbished one but would not be warrantied if installed. I have been through every junkyard that has a website and every parts supplier. No used part available. I have a truck I cannot drive and the dealership does not provide a loaner and basically said it's my problem. How can a major motor vehicle manufacturer be able to not support it's own product. The truck is a 2016 and I understood the manufacturer had to provide products for 10 years after date of manufacture.
Truck shuts off on its own mostly at low speed but in traffic for years Ram told me they could not find a problem. now ram says they know what's wrong but they don't know how to fix. recall (66a) (z46) been trying for years to get this fixed. stalled four times in traffic yesterday. Called Ram and they don't when or if then will be able to fix.

Abs brake light is on and cruise won’t work with brake light on told by dealer ABS MODULE HAS FAILED manufacturer has no idea when parts will be available This needs to be a recall don’t know if abs brakes will ever work
The ABS Module has Failed at 66,829 miles. I just left the Dealership Magic City 1750 Independence Blvd, Bedford, VA 24523 who advised me that they have had other trucks with the same issue. This Part is not available "under engineering review until March, 2024" and the same part has been re-engineered 3 times already. I currently have a warranty that will expire before the part is available.

The power steering intermittently goes out. It may work for a few seconds then stop working. Even turning the steering wheel you can feel it come and go. Dodge dealer informed me there are no recalls and I would be charged ??
Two years ago I experienced the warning lights coming on my dash with the ABS, Brakes and one other one I can't remember. The truck locked up and I had to have it towed and the two driver had trouble getting it loaded. The repair shop replaced the ABS module & hydraulic assembly with a rebuilt part. Two weeks ago, the same brake failure happened with the locking up and the lights. I've been told by the dealer and repair shop that the ABS module is on a national backorder due to waiting on the engineering review to be complete with no estimated time to release a new part. All the dealers and repair shop have said I should not drive it. I learned two years ago that this is a very wide spread issue with this model and there's been no recall issued. The fact that the brakes can lock up while driving is the utmost form of safety issue. I am now without a vehicle and Dodge will not provide any type of support to help with a rental care. The ABS module has a design defect and is known by Dodge to be defective. The part # is 68295368AC.
At ~50,000 miles the fuel level gauge would go to Empty only after I filled the tank fully. Now it no longer work at all. The fuel level sensor is defective. Just passed 90,000 miles.

1. The vehicle has steering issues and is no longer drive able. Steering difficulty began in mid to late August 2023. The steering is now impossible to use and vehicle to l is rendered inoperable. 2. Since purchasing the vehicle I have noticed the transmission is having issues shifting gears. The rpm will be high at speeds of 40-60mph, and the vehicle will only shift to a different gear if I take my foot off the gas pedal for an extended period of time. I had auto mechanic troubleshoot and repair what he thought was a dirty or faulty sensor. Issue continues.
On vacation 07/29/2023 towing a 4000lb. camping trailer with family in the mountains with weekend traffic when motor dies without warning. Luckily I was able to pull over safely. Was able to restart but died three more times but made it to a gas station where it died completely. We were very very fortunate no one was injured. No local shops open on weekend so had the whole rig towed 137mi. home. On Monday 07/31/2023 I had the truck towed to the dealer where I purchased the truck new. after a week and a half they said the wiring harness needs to be replaced but is no longer available so there is nothing they can do. Massive safety hazard should have a solution. I just learned that Dodge knows about this truck dying without warning but has done nothing.

The power steering in my 2016 ram pick up truck has started to go intermittently on and off. Sometimes it feels like it’s catching on some thing when it goes out and then it comes right back on. Other times it is completely inoperable. This occurs for a couple days at a time and then the power steering will work for a period of 1 to 2 weeks before acting up again. I have also noticed a squeaking sound when turning the wheel to the right every now and then. I did take the truck in to the dealership however, on the day that I did, the power steering was working correctly, therefore, they were unable to diagnose anything. They stated that the power steering was working as it should. because of how random the power steering goes out, it is near impossible for me to get it to the dealership in time for them to properly diagnose. I did notice that your organization has opened an investigation into an issue at sounds very similar to the one that I’m having. because of how random the power steering goes out, it is near impossible for me to get it to the dealership in time for them to properly diagnose. Over the past months, we've been hearing what could best be described as a grinding noise from the steering, heard on any light nudge of the steering wheel, at speeds of about 35MPH and up, intensifying at higher speeds. While the sound is rather faint, it is our impression that over time it's been intensifying. We inspected the wheel hubs, which seem to be fine. We therefore believe it's quite likely the noise is coming from the steering rack (our model is equipped with an electric power assist steering). Searching online in an effort to learn if anyone else has been having similar issues, we found out that there's an ongoing investigation of steering issues related to RAM 1500 that includes 2016 models. We therefore decided to report our issue here.
Power steering will fail intermittently, sometimes for days at a time. Steering becomes difficult at all speeds and failure occurs without warning. Attached is a deposit receipt for 25% of a ram dealer quoted $2,500 steering rack repair for this issue.

My truck lost power and the engine shut off in the middle of an intersection. I had it towed to my local Ram dealer in June of 2023. It is now November 27th of 2023 and the vehicle cannot be fixed because of the Z46 recall has no parts. I have been in contact with my dealer and they gave me a quote of $13000 to replace the fuel pump with no guarantee I could get reimbursed for these repairs. The recall was scheduled to be out by August of 2023 and was pushed back to January of 2024. That will be 6 months of paying for a vehicle I cannot drive because Ram won't issue a fix for this. The dealer did verify that the fuel pump is the problem.

The vehicle is starting to lose power steering function. The vehicle is at 102,000 miles. This is happening any time I turn my wheel. This is a very hazardous safety issue. This issue has not been seen by any other professionals. It just started happening a couple weeks ago. I called the dealership and they said my Vin was not part of the Dodge Ram 1500 year 2015 -2016 recall. I called the manufacturer and they told me it could be a recall soon. But until then I'm to get it looked at and get it fixed. If the recall is a thing soon they will reimburse me my money.

I registered my Ram pickup vin # [XXX] with the dealer I purchased it from, the day after I received the card from CFA telling me about the recall. I have checked with that dealer monthly since. They always say parts are not available. Now I am 1000 plus miles from home and stranded because the truck has quit. The local in Springdale, Ar. say some of the parts will be in about 6/13/2023, some parts not until the 19th, but those parts show " no movement". he says that means they will be much later. This almost a year from when I REQUESTED MY TRUCK BE FIXTED. I called CFA this morning and the gave me a [XXX] case # [XXX] and said a case manager would contact me 2 to 3 business days. They don't seem to take your recalls very seriously. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
