DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ON CITY STREETS HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON THAT WAS TRAVELING TOWARDS ME AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME SPEED. THE AIRBAGS IN MY VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V818000 (EQUIPMENT, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
COOLANT LEAKING. LEAK COULDN'T BE DETECTED BY ONLY EYES OBSERVATION UNDER THE TRUCK. IT'S UNKNOWN WHERE THE LEAK WENT. FIRST, WE REFILLED THE COOLANT, AND WHEN IT HAPPENED THE 2ND TIMES AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME OF 1-2 MONTHS, WE REFILLED IT ONCE AGAIN, ONCE THE COOLANT TANK WAS EMPTY, BUT ONLY THIS TIME, IT'S A SHORT PERIOD OF 2 DAYS. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT IT'S A RECALL ITEM, THAT IT HAD BEEN REPORTED SOME OF THE RAM 1500 HAD MYSTERIOUS COOLANT LEAKED. THEY HAD NO IDEA WHERE THE COOLANT GO, THEY SAID IT'S NOT "SAFE" TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. NOW MY TRUCK HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 1.5 MONTHS AND WAS TILL BEING TOLD THAT THE PART HAD NOT ARRIVED. WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL WARNING FROM CHRYSLER. LUCKILY THE COOLANT WARNING SIGN IS WORKING. OTHERWISE, WE WON'T BE ABLE TO KNOW AND WE AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE STREET MIGHT BE EXPOSED TO EXPLOSION.
AFTER HAVING AN APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DONE, WHILE UNDER LOAD THE SCR BOLTS AND FLANGE BROKE, AND AFTER READING THE FORUMS THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO A LOT OF TRUCKS, ALSO CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE GREAT DAMAGE TO DPF ASSEMBLY, HIGHWAY DRIVING
I EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT STEERING EFFORT TURNING A CORNER,ALMOST RAN INTO POLE WHEN I COULD NOT TURN ONTO MY STREET. MECHANIC SAID MY STEERING RACK FAILED. TRUCK HAS 44,000 MILES.
TRUCK HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND STARTED THE TRUCK BUT THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. COULD NOT GET IT TO UNLOCK AND HAD TOWED TO NEAREST DODGE DEALER. THEY ARE SAYING IT IS THE RACK AND PINION THAT IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACED. TRUCK ONLY HAS 23000 MILES ON IT AND IS CURRENTLY OWNED BY A SINGLE MOM WHO ONLY USES IT TO TAKE HER KIDS TO SCHOOL, GO TO WORK 3 DAYS A WEEK AND ERRANDS AROUND SMALL TOWN. USUALLY DRIVES MAXIMUM OF 50-75 MILES OR LESS PER WEEK.
P0463 STATING THAT THE FUEL LEVEL CIRCUIT WAS FAILING GIVING OFF FALSE FUEL TANK LEVEL READINGS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNING ON WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK HAS SLIGHTLY OVER 60K MILES FUEL NEEDLE FLUCTUATES FROM EMPTY TO QUARTER OF A TANK AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, ABNORMAL SOUNDS WERE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE CONTACT STATED A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR ENGINE LIGHT 12/18/19 PARTICULATE SENSOR PROBLEM. SENSOR CODE CLEARED RETURNED 12/19/19. 6/29/20 RECALL CSN 1, EGR COOLER. WITH THIS WORK HAD TO REPLACE MANIFOLD AND THEN DAMAGED HEAD ENGINE CYLINDER DUE TO DAMAGE BY TECHNICIAN AND HAD TO REPLACE, RETURNED 7/24/20. 7/30/20 ENGINE OVERHEATED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. FAULT OF LOOSE HOSE CLAMP AND SYSTEM NOT BLED OF AIR, RETURNED7/31/20. 8/4/20 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.EGR COOLER BY PASS ACUTOTUR VALVE NOT WORKING. RETURNED 8/6/20. 8/10.20 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. EGR BYPASS SOLONIDE HIGH RESISTANCE AND NOT ACTUATING, REPLACE ACTUATOR, RETURNED 8/11/20. 8/17/20 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. REMOVED CAM DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP, RETURNED 8/21/20. 8/28/20 ENGINE LIGHT ON AND BLACK SMOKE AND OIL SPRAYING OUT THE BACK. TRUCK TOWED BACK TO DEALER SINCE IT WOULD NOT START. MAIN ENGINE GASKET BLEW AND TOTALLED ENGINE. DEALER STILL HAS TRUCK AS OF TODAY 9/21/20 TO REPLACE ENGINE. ALL ISSUE HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK. I HAVE ALL WORK INVOICES IF NEEDED. I APPLIED FOR BUY BACK BUT WAS REFUSED DUE TO STATE GUIDELINES FOR LEMON LAW.
I WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH AND EXPERIENCED A TOTAL SHUT DOWN, ATTACHED IS THE INVOICE THAT I PAID TO ARRIGO RAM WHILE IN WEST PALM BEACH FLA FOR THE TONE RING REPLACEMENT ON MY 2016 RAM ECO DIESEL 3.0 I HAVE COME TO LEARN THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT ITEM CALLED W68. FOR SOME REASON MY VIN NUMBER DOESN'T COME UP ON THE RECALL LIST, ALTHOUGH I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT ISSUE LISTED, AND I OWN THE EXACT VEHICLE NAMED IN THE RECALL. I ALSO PAID FOR A RENTAL THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP WHILE IT WAS BEING REPAIRED. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE ARRIGO SERVICE MANAGER AND HE TELLS ME HIS HANDS ARE TIED WITH REGARD TO REIMBURSEMENT AS MY VIN WAS SOMEHOW NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THIS IS MERELY AND OVERSIGHT AS PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES.
WHEN YOU STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK AND YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE(LIKE IN A RESTAURANT DRIVEWAY) A MESSAGE COMES ON THE DASH SAYING THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK AND WILL NOT MOVE. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND WAIT FOR ABOUT A MINUTE TO TRY AGAIN. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I AM A SAFETY ENGINEER. THE INTERIOR LATCH FUNCTION IS A SAFETY CRITICAL MEANS OF EMERGENCY EGRESS AKIN TO CRASH BARS ON BUILDINGS; NO WAY SHOULD IT FAIL IN A VEHICLE THIS RECENTLY BUILT AND OF SUCH LOW MILEAGE. RAM INFORMED ME IT WAS A NON-WARRANTY ITEM WHICH IN ITSELF SURPRISING. THE REPAIR BILL IS $521, WHICH IN SOME CASES WILL BE EXPENSIVE ENOUGH THAT SOME WILL FORGO GETTING IT FIXED, IMPERILING THEMSELVES SHOULD THEY NEED TO QUICKLY EGRESS THE VEHICLE IN THE EVEN OF A FIRE OR SUBMERSION, FOR EXAMPLE. I ASKED THEM FOR INFORMATION ON HOW FREQUENTLY THIS PARTICULAR TYPE OF FAILURE PARTICULAR LATCH MECHANISM AND THEY WERE MOST DEFINITELY NOT FORTHCOMING. I ASKED THEM TO ELEVATE MY CASE TO SOMEONE MORE SENIOR, GIVEN CRITICAL THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT. THEY REFUSED. SO, I GUESS THE BALL IS IN NHTSA'S COURT. SOMEONE SHOULD DEFINITELY REACH OUT TO FCA AND INQUIRE ABOUT THE FAILURE RATE OF THIS PARTICULAR MECHANISM. *TR

WHY IS THERE RECALL ON THE DODGE RAM 1500 FUEL SENSOR? DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY GAS GAGE DROPS WITH ALARMS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC AND HAVING TO LOOK DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD IN SUCH IN HASTE. TOO MANY ISSUES FROM OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE NOTED ON FORUM. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT KEEPS COMING AND TRUCK WILL GO INTO LIMP MODE. HAS HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY AND ALSO IN TOWN.
I TOOK MY 2016 RAM TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH A TICKING NOISE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE MANIFOLD BOLTS AND THAT RAM WERE NOTORIOUS FOR HAVING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE 64,500 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I THEN EMAIL DODGE CARES AND WAS ASKED WHY WE TOOK IT SOMEWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN AN AUTHORIZED LOCATION WHEN IT STILL HAD AN ACTIVE WARRANTY? WE EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE TOLD IT DID NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE WARRANTY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. I GET AN EMAIL TODAY STATING THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. I DRIVE THIS 3 TIMES A WEEK TO DELIVER MEALS ON WHEELS. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS FROM MY UNDERSTANDING AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON RAMS. THEY SHOULD INVESTIGATE WHY THIS IS HAPPENING WITH RAM MODELS 2009- CURRENT MODELS.
HEMI TICK, GOOGLE IT. SEEMS TO BE A REAL THING. I FIRST NOTICED ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO A LIGHT TAPPING SOUND THAT WAS NOT INTRUSIVE AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. IT'S GOTTEN NOTABLY LOUDER NOW AND I'VE NOTICED THAT THE IDLE SEEMS TO BE A BIT ON THE ROUGHER SIDE THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS WITH THE RPM STARTING TO FLUCTUATE HOWEVER NO ENGINE CODES YET. IM GOING TO TRY TO GET TO THE DEALER FLOOR A WARRANTY INSPECTION WHEN I CAN HOWEVER MY WORK SCHEDULE IS NOT THE BEST. MY TRAVEL HAS BEEN PRIMARILY HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 85% OF MY 42K MILES. I HAVE ROUTINE OIL CHANGES USING PRODUCTS MEETING CHRYSLER SPECIFICATIONS AND DON'T TYPICALLY HAUL ANYTHING AND NEVER TOW. THE SOUND SO FAR IS NOTABLE ONLY WHEN IDLING. STILL RUNS FINE OTHERWISE BUT THE GROWING SYMPTOMS MATCH WHAT I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT. *TR

ANOTHER VEHICLE OWNER WHO NOTICED THE FIRE PULLED OVER AND ATTEMPTED, IN VAIN, TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH HIS OWN FIRE EXTINGUISHER, THE FIRE WAS SO INTENSE THAT THE VEHICLE BURNT TO THE GROUND WITHIN MINUTES. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED BUT IT WAS TOO LATE TO STOP THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WAS NO INJURY REPORTED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE WESTGATE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DEALER (2695 E MAIN ST, PLAINFIELD, IN 46168, (317) 839-6554) AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND THE REMNANT WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAVE BROKEN ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS A COMMON KNOWN ISSUE AND RAM WILL NOT FIX THE DESIGN FLAW. THEY WILL FIX IF ITS STILL COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY . SIGNAL OF ISSUE IS THE TICKING AT COLD STARTUP YOU CAN HEAR BY FENDERWELLLS. WILL GO AWAY ONCE ENGINE IS WARM.

SINCE I'VE HAD THE AEM UPDATED AS PART OF THE EPA SETTLEMENT I HAVE DELAY WHEN PRESSING THE GAS AND ACCELERATION, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT IS COLD. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN A SIGNIFICANT MPG DROP ALTHOUGH THAT ISN'T AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS CAN BE A PARTICULAR ISSUE WHEN PULLING INTO INTERCHANGES OR ON TO THE HIGHWAY AS ACCELERATION IS UNPREDICTABLE.
THE EXHUAST MANIFOLD BOLTS ON THE RH SIDE OF THE ENGINE BROKE CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK THAT CAN GET INTO THE CAB WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET IT FIXED THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE TRUCKS WITH THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE. HE TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER FIAT IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM DUE TO FAULTY BOLTS. NOW A YEAR LATER MY LEFT HAND EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAVE BROKEN AND I HAVE ANOTHER EXHAUST LEAK COMING INTO MY CAB. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISINING. THIS IS ON EVERY RAM FORUM AS WELL AS I HAVE DISCOVERED. HOW CAN A MANUFACTURE GET AWAY WITH KNOW THEY HAVE A DEFCTIVE PRODUCT THAT CAN KILL SOMEONE. I DONT GET IT.

I bought my truck August 17, 2016 brand new from Crown Dodge - Chrysler with 7 miles on the odometer. When I bought my truck it had Good Year tires on the truck. At about 35k to 40k miles I replaced those tires with Michelin Defender LTX M/S that I purchased from Delta World Tire shop located 1629 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532. Initially Delta World Tire shop could not correctly balance the rear tires. After a couple of complaints and rebalancing the tires, both within a 4 week time period, the manager rode with me on a road test. At this point, he ordered 2 new tires, however that did not take care of the problem. Since then I have twice had the tires rotated and aligned and supposedly balanced by the same tire shop that I purchased them from. After about putting about 5 thousand miles on these tires the tires felt like they were scraping across the pavement when turning from a stop, like when I was taking a right or left at a corner at a stop sign. The scraping feeling is more noticeable when taking a right. I have repeatedly talked to the manager at the shop asking about a possible recall on these tires, their method of balancing the tires or possible remedies, all I have been told is that they will not replace the tires or refund me anything for these tires. The manager suggested that there must be a problem with struts or something, however they wouldnt commit to that. At this point I spoke with an auto mechanic and he knew exactly what I was speaking of and said that it is the tires. I purchased Michelin tires for a previous vehicle that was a GMC Envoy from the same tire shop and that SUV drove like it was on rails. This was even more reason why I went with Michelin Tires. At this point, I will never buy Michelin Tires for any vehicle or trailer again in my lifetime. I also go out of my way to tell clients and inspectors how bad these tires are. Are Michelin Tires now made in Mexico or "Made In China" like all the other items that are junk???

AIR SUSPENSION COMPRESSOR FAILED WITH TRUCK IN MOTION AND THE VEHICLE SWERVED. VEHICLE NOW SITS AND DRIVES LOPSIDED. TRUCK HAD 59,573 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF RAM TRUCKS AIR SUSPENSION FAILING IN COLD WEATHER REGIONS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THE AIR SUSPENSION IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. IT DOESN'T DO ANY GOOD TO REPLACE THE FAILED OEM COMPONENTS BECAUSE THEY JUST FAIL IN A YEAR OR TWO AGAIN. THE SAFEST FIX IS TO REMOVE THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND REPLACE IT WITH SHOCKS AND SPRINGS.

WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LEADS TO A MISFIRING OF CYLINDER 5 FURTHER DIAGNOSING AND CONSULTATION WITH DEALER IDENTIFIES A RECURRING PROBLEM ON THIS 5.7 HEMI ENGINE OF THE LIFTER BEARING FAILING AND LOCKING UP. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND A CHRYSLER RECALL S19 (NHTSA RECALL 16V-167) WAS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER THEY TOLD ME MY VEHICLE FITS THE BUILD DATES FOR THIS RECALL BUT THE RECALL WAS NOT LISTED UNDER MY VIN AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A USED CAR DEALER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SO FAR. SOMETIMES WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, IT WILL LOCK TRANSMISSION IN PARK. A WARNING FLASHES THAT VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. NO KIDDING, I'M TRYING TO DRIVE AWAY, BUT CAN'T. I MADE A 3 POINT TURN ON A BUSY STREET AND ENDED UP BLOCKING TRAFFIC. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF TRYING SEVERAL THINGS IF FINALLY STARTED WORKING AGAIN. ONCE, I PUT IT IN REVERSE, STARTED BACKING UP OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, PUSHED THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES, THEN SUDDENLY IT LOCKED UP IN THE STREET. AFTER 10 TO 15 MINUTES OF RESTARTING TRUCK, IT EVENTUALLY STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IF SOMEONE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION, THEY WOULD HAVE PLOWED INTO ME BOTH TIMES. ONE OTHER TIME I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING SPACE AND COULDN'T DRIVE ANYWHERE FOR 15 MINUTES UNTIL IT STARTED WORKING. I HAVEN'T SPOKEN TO ANYONE AT THE DEALER YET, BUT I WILL SOON. FROM RESEARCH I HAVE DONE SO FAR IT SEEMS TO BE THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID. SO FAR, EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED TO SHIFT GEARS. THE BIG PROBLEM IS WHERE IT STOPS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. UNTIL I CAN GET THIS LOOKED AT, I WILL NEED TO PLAN WHERE I PARK OR TURN AROUND, SO I DON'T BLOCK TRAFFIC.
