TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE FRONT AIR SUSPENSION FAILED AND DID NOT RAISE BACK UP. THE CONTACT CALLED A DEALER (BYERS AUTOMOTIVE LOCATED AT 401 N HAMILTON, RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43213 PHONE NUMBER 1-888-468-1325) AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. CONSUMER STATED HERE ARE SOME ATTACHED PHOTOS FOR MY COMPLAINT. IN PHOTO YOU CAN SEE THE FRONT IS DROPPED TO ENTRY MODE. WHILE THE REAR IS IN OFF ROAD SETTING. (THE 4TH LEVEL) ENTRY MODE MEANS THAT MEANS AIRBAGS COMPLETELY DEFLATED. IF SYSTEM IS NORMAL IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DRIVE IN THIS MODE. The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the dealer had previously performed the recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V486000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages) on the vehicle. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and then arriving to the destination, the contact became aware that the tailgate had opened unexpectedly. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving, which caused items in the trunk to fall out onto the road. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V486000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,500.
THE AIR SUSPENSION IS FAULTY IN THE RAMS. DUE TO FAULTY ISSUES IT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS ESPECIALLY FAULTY DURING COLD WEATHER. DURING COLD WEATHER THE COMPRESSOR FAILS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY RESULTING IN INADEQUATE SUSPENSION

IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V757000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. JULIET, TN 37122, (615) 288-8525) WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) COOLER MAY CRACK AND ALLOW PRE-HEATED VAPORIZED COOLANT TO ENTER THE EGR SYSTEM. THIS MIXTURE MAY COMBUST INSIDE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THERE IS.A SAFETY RECALL, BUT THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT.. I HAVE TRIED SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2019 TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED WITH NO SUCCESS. I M TOLD CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIX THIS EVEN THOUGH THERE IS. I HAVE HAD MY 2016 RAM 1500 ALIGNED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. EVERYTIME I BRING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAY IT IS WAY OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND CORRECT IT. IN A FEW DAYS THE TRUCK WILL START PULLING AGAIN. ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING.

2016 RAM DRIVERS WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE.THIS THE 3 TIME THE NYLON CLIP BREAKS WHEN THERE IS COLD WEATHER. IF YOU GET JUST A LITTLE FREEZE AND OPEN THE WINDOW THE CLIP CRACKS. THE REPLACEMENT PART # IS 2387602835. I HAVE OWNED A VEHICLE AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN COLD WEATHER. I WAS TOLD NOT OPEN YOUR WINDOWS IN THE WINTER MONTHS. CHRYSLER SERVICE SAYS DON"T OPEN THE WINDOW WHEN ITS BELOW 32 DEGREES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD BEFORE STOPPING. THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE BRAKING FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO TO STOP THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. DURING THE FAILURE THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER JACK PHELAN CHRYSLER/JEEP(5859 S. LAGRANGE RD., COUNTRYSIDE, IL) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THEN TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WAS FAULTY. THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE DEALER LATER REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED BUT THE FAILURE LATER REOCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 4,000 MILES LATER. THE VALVE BODY WAS REPLACED FOR THE 2ND TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
2 MAJOR ISSUES: A- SINCE VEHICLE GOT COMPUTER SYSTEM UPDATED FOR THE EMISSIONS LAWSUIT - VEHICLE HAS LOST 70% POWER AT TAKE OFF. MEANING, I CURRENTLY HAVE A VERY HIGH RISK OF GETTING T-BONED AT INTERSECTIONS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T TAKE OFF. I CURRENTLY HAVE A CLAIM OPEN WITH CHRYSLER BUT THEIR CASE MANAGER CLAIMS THAT PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. THIS EMISSION UPDATE WAS DONE BACK IN JUNE 2019. B- VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND CREATE VERY HIGH COOLANT SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, IF THE VEHICLE SITS IDLING YOU CAN'T TELL THE PROBLEM, ONLY WHEN DRIVEN. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND ADMITTED ON 10/31/2019. AFTER 63 DAYS AT THE DEALER AND SO MUCH BACK AND FORTH WITH CHRYSLER CASE MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS "THIS PEOPLE IS EXTREMELY USELESS AND SHOULD NOT BE ASSIGNED TO HANDLE CASES SENSITIVE LIKE THIS ONE!" ON 01/03/2020 "63 DAYS AFTER CHECK IN DATE" THE TRUCK WAS RELEASE FROM THE DEALER WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REPAIRS MADE. THE VEHICLE THAT IS CURRENTLY OVERHEATING WITH VERY HIGH RISK OF GETTING CAUGHT ON FIRE HAS BEEN RELEASED TO ME SO I CAN TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOLS AND AND MY LIFE AND OTHER AT DANGER. THIS IS TERRIFYING! MAKES ME THINK THAT CHRYSLER WANTS TO DEAL WITH MUCH MORE COSTLY ISSUES WHEN THE WORST HAPPENS!
I presently have 92,200 miles on my Doge Ram. I have experienced 3 fuel pump/fuel sender failures. The first at 18,947 miles, second at 43,634 miles and third at 92,263.This last fuel pump replacement will have the defective pump available for inspection after the repair work is done. The failure of a fuel pump/sender could lead to stalling, power loss and failure to start. These deficiencies could lead to traffic accidents resulting in property loss and bodily harm or even death. The warnings persisted until I had the parts replaced. Because of the number of times (3)and the low mileage , 18k,43k and 92k miles, it appears that the fuel pumps used in this model of Dodge Ram are either defective or inadequately engineered. These failures were preceded by and check engine warning light followed by a fuel sensor failure light and fuel gauge malfunction.
RADIO SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING, LOCKS UP AND WILL ONLY TURN BACK ON WHEN SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT. HEADLIGHT FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. HEADLIGHT FLICKER HAS DONE THIS FOR 3 MONTHS NOW
AS I WAS TURNING ONTO THE ROAD TO MY HOUSE I HEARD SCREECHING AS MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND I COULDN'T TURN MY VEHICLE ANYMORE. A LIGHT FLASHED INDICATING 'SERVICE POWER STEERING'. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP AS WELL AS THE DEALER AND BOTH INFORMED ME THE SAME THING. MY EPS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHICH IS RECALL # 'S19'. VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR ARE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
19V 757 (SAFETY RECALL NUMBER) SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED ON 10.28.2019 TO A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DUE TO POSSIBLE CRACKS IN THE EGR COOLER. THE DATE LISTED FOR NOTIFICATION / FIX (DECEMBER 13, 2019) HAS COME AND GONE WITH NO UPDATES OR INFO FROM FIAT / CHRYSLER. DUE TO THE POTENTIAL HAZARD OF A FIRE, FCA SHOULD HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED BY NOW..... STILL WAITING.....
COOLANT LEAKING FROM BACK OF MOTOR RESEARCH SAYS IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM COOLANT LINE TO TURBO HAS A PIECE OF RUBBER HOSE UNDER INTAKE AND THE RUBBER CAN'T HOLD UP TO THE TEMP 67000 MILES ON TRUCK
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SLOWED VEHICLE TO A STOP, SHUT OFF ENGINE, NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TRIED TO OPEN HOOD BUT IT WAS TOO HOT. NOTICED FLAME UNDER HOOD WITHIN A MINUTE WHOLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS IN FLAMES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST TIP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (CROWN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP & RAM LOCATED AT 6300 KING DR, VENTURA, CA 93003, 805)656-6669) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE EGR VALVE FRACTURED WHICH CAUSED COOLANT TO ENTER THE INNER PARTS OF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN UNNAMED DEALER THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY 7 WEEKS TO BE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION AND WAS TOWED TO CHUCK PATTERSON TOYOTA (200 EAST AVE, CHICO, CA 95926) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DO THE REPAIRS DUE TO PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
RECALL VB1 IS NOW OVER YEAR OLD AND NO DEALER HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET PARTS AND COMPLETE REQUIRED SAFETY SERVICE.
ECODIESEL MODEL PICKUP WHILE TOWING OUR 4,000 LB TRAVEL TRAILER AT 50 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY, 90 MILES INTO A CAMPING/FISHING TRIP, SUDDENLY DISPLAYED SYMBOL AND MESSAGE ALERTS ON THE DASH AND AT THE SAME TIME LOST ENGINE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP ENOUGH SPEED TO PULL ONTO A DIRT SIDE ROAD WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE HUNDRED YARDS, THEN COASTED TO A STOP. DURING THE LAST 20 YARDS, THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY SO I HAD NO POWER STEERING. AT FULL STOP THERE WAS A STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL IN THE CAB AND GREY SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. WHEN I OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR, GREY SMOKE WAS BILLOWING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WELL. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD, THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FLAMES WERE SHOOTING UP FROM BEHIND THE ENGINE, THE INSULATION ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD WAS BURNING AND FLAKES OF BURNING INSULATION WERE FLOATING AROUND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH AN EXTINGUISHER BEFORE THE ENTIRE TRUCK AND TRAILER AND THE SURROUNDING FOREST CAUGHT ON FIRE. JUST AS THE FLAMES DIED OUT, THE COOLANT RESERVOIR ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BURST AND BOILING COOLANT SPRAYED OUT CREATING A BUNCH OF STEAM AND MORE BAD CHEMICAL SMELL. I ARRANGED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE TOWED TO OUR HOMETOWN DEALER. TRUCK WAS STOCK AND DEALER MAINTAINED. I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE DEALER AND THEIR RAM INVESTIGATOR ON WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE AND HOW THIS MATTER WILL BE HANDLED.
I HAVE A RAM 2016 ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION MY TRUCK ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING AROUND 70 MPH (HAD 3 PASSENGERS WITH ME) AND TWICE TODAY 10/22/19 IN MORNING TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. IT TOOK HITTING THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES TO STOP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP
BOUGHT MY TRUCK 7-22-2019 WITH 61.885 MILES ON IT THREE DAYS LATER THE EGR BLEW A GASKET, STAYED IN THE SHOP THREE DAYS. WEAK LATER THE DODGE DEALER CHANGED OUT MY COOLENT AND THE TRUCK WAS WRECKED AT THE DEAR LERSHIP STAYED IN THE SHOP FOR EIGHT DAYS, TWO WEAKS LATER THE OIL COOLER IS LEAKING AND I CAN NOT DRIVE IT AND THE DEALERAHIP HAS IT ALREADY FOR THREE WEAKS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO LOOK FOR PARTS UNTIL JANUARY OR LATER,HAVE ONLY PUT AROUND 2000 MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY 'AIR SUSPENSION NEEDS SERVICE IMMEDIATELY'. THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED AND DROPPED MY 2016 RAM 1500 REBEL INTO ENTRY/EXIT MODE. MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND ROUGH TO DRIVE.
DRIVING TO MY HOME TURNING RIGHT, THE STEERING LOCKED UP? FOR ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS. LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. ALSO NOTICED A PROBLEM IN OCT CAMP TRIP. IN GREEN RIDGE FOREST.AS I DROVE ON BUMPY ROADS, I NOTICED STEERING DIFFICULTIES.DISMISSED AS OFF ROAD BUMPS. AFTER RETURNING HOME, WENT TO DINNER WITH FRIENDS.THE STEERING LOCKED UP. THORNTON DODGE CLAIMS THIS IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY. DODGE RECALLED ALMOST 900,000 TRUCKS FOR STEERING. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

THE DRIVER PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND SMOKE WAS SEEN UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V757000 (ENGINE, ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE THROUGH THE DEALER AND WAS CURRENTLY AWAITING THE PART. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

YOU CAN PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS, THEN YOU HAVE TO FLOOR IT TO GET IT TO MOVE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AT THE INTERSECTION COMING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD. ON THIS PAST WEDNESDAY MORNING I HAD TO RUN OFF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AS MY TRUCK ROLLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THEN WOULD NOT GET GOING. I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND THEN IT FINALLY HIT AND PUT ME IN A DITCH AS I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE WAY OF A CAR ABOUT TO HIT ME.
