I AM PRINTING THIS CORRECTION IN REGARDS TO PREVIOUS INFORMATION I REPORTED CLAIM #10994989.I REPORTED WHEN IGNITION BUTTON WAS PUSHED WAS INCORRECT ,SHOULD HAVE READ , WHEN IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED.
TWO TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH WHEN WE ENTERED THE NOTED VEHICLE THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AS EXPECTED BUT WHEN THE IGNITION BUTTON WAS PUSHED TO START THE VEHICLE DASH BECAME TOTALLY BLACK AN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START LIKE THERE WAS NO ELECTRIC POWER , AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THEY COULD NOT FIND THE REAL PROBLEM,I AM TAKING IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER TOMORROW FOR THE SAME SITUATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION, WITHOUT THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE WHILE TOWING A BOAT OUT OF THE WATER AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING DOWN THE BOAT RAMP INTO THE WATER. THE CONTACT RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK INTO DRIVE, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HIS CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED OUT OF THE WATER AND THEN TOWED TO A LOT WHERE IT WAS AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT THE STATUS OF NHTSA INVESTIGATION: PE-16-014 AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS STILL AN OPEN INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL INADVERTENTLY JERKED TO THE LEFT AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. THE VEHICLE DROVE OFF THE ROAD AND ONTO A GRASSY MEDIAN. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY HALF A MILE TO HIS HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE NEXT DAY TO GARBER CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (3340 US-17 GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL 32043, 904-264-2442). THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO REPLACE BOTH REAR TIRES. THE CONTACT REPLIED THAT REPLACING THE TIRES WAS ABSURD BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,050.
BRAND NEW 2016 RAM 1500 EXPRESS 4X4, REGULAR CAB, SHORT BED. I DID THE 300 MILE BREAK AS SPECIFIED BY RAM. FIRST TIME I GET IT TO ABOUT 65+, PARTICULARLY BETWEEN 68 AND 73 MPH IT SHAKES AND SHIMMY'S BAD. VIBRATION IS IN THE SEATS, FLOOR, AND CONSOLE BUT IS NOT TRANSMITTED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. I BROUGHT TO BACK TO THE DEALER WITH 380 MILES ON IT, THEY ROAD FORCED BALANCED THE WHEELS, SAID THEY WERE OFF. ALSO STATED THAT, IN WRITING THAT IT STILL SHIMMIES'S SLIGHTLY. THAT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. BRINGING IT BACK FOR SECOND VISIT.
I WAS IN PARK GOT OUT OF TRUCK WHILE IT WAS RUNNING, WENT INTO HOUSE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND THEN CAME BACK OUT AND WAS USING A DUMP RENTAL TRAILER WITH 3.8TONS OF ROCK. WENT TO LIFT WITH REMOTE TRAILER CONTROL WHEN THE TRAILER WAS ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP IT PUSHED MY TRUCK INTO DRIVE AND TOOK OFF AND I HAD TO RUN AND STOP IT. AND IT SHOWED IT INTO DRIVE. THANKS GOD DOOR WASNT SHUT. SO IT WOULD OF LOCKED ME OUT.
DURING A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT WHILE TRAVELING ON A RURAL HIGHWAY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THE SEATBELT TENSIONERS WHICH I'VE BEEN TOLD ARE PART OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WERE DEPLOYED. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND FLASHING IN THE TRUCK AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE IS PART OF AN UPCOMING RECALL RAM TRUCKS HAS KNOWN IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND DONE NOTHING TO REPAIR.
I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND AN ABRUPT DECELERATION WHILE DRIVING OUT OF MY DEVELOPMENT. THE SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH. THIS HAPPENED ON MAY 17, 2017 AND SOME OF THE VEHICLES ECODIESEL FUEL INJECTORS WERE REPLACED. 2000 MILES LATER ALMOST THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED ON JULY 14, 2017. CURRENTLY ADDITIONAL INJECTORS ARE BEING REPLACED. I AM THANKFUL NEITHER TIME WAS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A BUSY ROAD.
THE VEHICLE HAS AN UPGRADED 32 GALLON FUEL TANK, HOWEVER ON E WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON THE VEHICLE ONLY TAKES 24 GALLONS MAXIMUM. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE WHICH HAS NO FIX AT THE MOMENT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THE SOFTWARE STILL READS THE 26 GALLON STANDARD FUEL TANK.
FUEL SENSOR FAIL LIGHT CAME ON WIRH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS I AM PARKED, AND MY TRUCK HAS A FULL TANK
TAKATA RECALL I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY FRONT END AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AT VARIOUS LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V167000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,362.
MY TRUCK STOPPED RUNNING AND DRIFTED TO A STOP AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. NO WARNING ALERTS WERE POSTED ON THE DASHBOARD NOR ANY AUDIBLE WARNING SOUNDED.THE TRUCK WAS IN DRIVE AT THE TIME AND I WAS STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR TO MAKE THE TURN AT 5-10 MPH; IT SIMPLY STOPPED RUNNING. I PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART DESPITE MULTIPLE ROTATIONS OF THE KEYFOB IN THE IGNITION. ULTIMATELY, I REMOVED THE ELECTRONIC KEYFOB FROM THE IGNITION, REINSERTED THE KEYFOB AND THE TRUCK STARTED. A SERVICE AGENT AT RAM DEALER IN BEND, OR SAYS THEY SAW A SIMILAR PROBLEM LAST WEEK. HE INDICATES THE IGNITION MODULE ON THAT TRUCK WAS REPLACED AND KEYFOBS REPROGRAMMED. I HOPE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT TRUCK WAS CORRECTED. MY WIFE AND I WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE NOT STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES AS IT TOOK PERHAPS 30 SECONDS OR MORE TO RESTART. THE TRUCK IS NOW RUNNING WITHOUT A REPETITION OF THIS ISSUE. I AM DRIVING IT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE FIRST AVAILABLE SERVICE APPOINTMENT NEXT MONDAY APRIL 25. THE SERVICEMAN READ THE OBDII CODE WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT AND INDICATED A CODE HAD BEEN SET TO THE EFFECT THAT COMMUNICATION WITH THE IGNITION MODULE HAD BEEN LOST. THE SERVICEMAN INDICATED THIS WOULD EXPLAIN THE ENGINE TURNING OFF SPONTANEOUSLY. THIS IS REMINISCENT OF THE GM VEHICLES THAT HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS WITH ASSOCIATED DEATHS. I AM REQUESTING A FORMAL REVIEW OF THIS ISSUE ASAP AS IT CLEARLY MAY CAUSE DEATHS ON THE HIGHWAY. I CAN BE REACHED AT [XXX]. MY WIFE [XXX] CAN BE REACHED AT [XXX]. TRUCK PROCEEDING AT ABOUT 30-35 MILES PER HR. ON A MAIN CITY STREET WHEN A CAR TRAVELED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF IT DUE TO ITS FAILURE TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN ON A SIDE STREET. FRONT OF TRUCK CRASHED INTO CAR. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO FRONT OF TRUCK RESULTED. QUESTIONING WHY NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG IN THIS HEAD- ON CRASH. TRUCK'S DRIVER HIT STEERING WHEEL WITH FOREHEAD AND WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. NECK AND HIP INJURIES WERE LIKEWISE SUSTAINED. DRIVER OF TRUCK WAS AMBULANCED TO NEARBY HOSPITAL FOR TESTS AND OBSERVATION. DRIVER OF TRUCK WAS WEARING SEATBELT AT TIME OF COLLISION. POLICE REPORT NOT YET AVAILABLE. ACCIDENT OCCURRED 4/3/17 IN THE EVENING.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING ON APPROXIMATELY SIX OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
A CAR CROSSED A DOUBLE YELLOW LINE ON A 2 LANE ROAD AND HIT MY TRUCK HEAD ON. THE CAR WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 40 MPH AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 32 MPH. ALL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK ALLOWING ME TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND RIGHT ARM. I SUSTAINED SEVERS BRUISING AND WHIPLASH. I PARKED TRUCK ON AN INCLINED AREA; REAR APPROXIMATELY 10" HIGHER THAN FRONT; I EXITED VEHICLE & BEGAN TO UNLOAD CARGO FROM REAR OF VEHICLE; THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ROLLED FORWARD ABOUT 10-12". I OPENED DRIVERS DOOR AND VERIFIED THAT TRANSMISSION CONTROL WAS INDEED IN "PARK"; IT WAS. I ALSO NOTED THAT AS IT ROLLED FORWARD IT DID SO IN RYTHMIC MANNER; TWO BEATS; AS THOUGH THE ENGINE HAD TURNED OVER/ ROLLED OVER. IT HAS NOT REPEATED THIS MALFUNCTION BUT THEN AGAIN, I HAVEN'T PARKED ON AN INCLINE LIKE THAT SINCE THE OCCURANCE (MARCH 2017; 10,500 MILES ON ODOMETER; 5.7 V8)
MY SON WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-15 TOWARDS SAN DIEGO AT 65MPH IN THE TRAVEL LANE (2ND LEFT MOST LANE) WHEN HIS NEW TRUCK SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING COMPLETELY SHUT ITSELF OFF. THE MAIN SCREEN ON THE DASH PROMPTED TO SHIFT INTO PARK (THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH AT THE TIME) TO RESTART THE TRUCK. HE WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE LEFT DUE TO THE HOV LANE BEING VERY BUSY - HE TRAVERSED THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT IN A VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER, OR STEERING ASSIST, AND AN INOPERABLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE BLINKER COLUMN SWITCH DID NOT ACTIVATE THE INDICATOR LIGHTS. HE WAS ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE EMERGENCY HAZARD FLASHER LIGHTS TO SHOW HIS EMERGENT NEED TO STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. HE STOPPED THE TRUCK NEAR EXIT 31 ON I-15 SOUTH. HE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND RESTART THE TRUCK. HE WAS FORCED TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE TRUCK TO NAS NORTH ISLAND SAN DIEGO BECAUSE HE WAS ON THE FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR A ANNUAL FLIGHT EVALUATION PRE- DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE FAILURE COULD EASILY HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY IF ANOTHER DRIVER, LESS ABLE TO HANDLE UNFORESEEN DANGEROUS MECHANICAL FAILURES, COULD HAVE PANICKED IN CROWDED CALIFORNIA TRAFFIC. MY SON STATES THAT HE HAS LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, MOREOVER THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN A CRASHED CAUSED BY THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE SYSTEMS.
AT APPROXIMATELY 4700 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HARSHLY SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR TO 1ST GEAR WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC OR PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPACE. THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD WHEN THIS OCCURS FEELING AS THE VEHICLE WAS TAPPED FROM BEHIND. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED FOR SERVICE AT THE ORIGINAL SELLING DEALER WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND PROCEEDED TO PERFORM A "QUICK LEARN" PROCEDURE WHICH RE-CALIBRATES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT PATTERNS. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER THIS SERVICE NOTICED IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SCHEDULED ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND CONTROLLER. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS THE ISSUE RETURNED. THE RAM FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE COORDINATED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP SO HE COULD SEE THE PROBLEM. I PROVIDED DETAILED INFORMATION OF EXACTLY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AND SPECIFICALLY THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE ABOVE 170 DEGREES. THIS INFORMATION WAS IGNORED AND THE REP DIDN'T SEE THE PROBLEM. AFTER 6 MONTHS OF DEALING WITH THE ISSUE CONTACTED RAM CORPORATE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH REQUEST FROM THE ENGINEERS IF THEIR SERVICE REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER UNDER AN ESCALATED CASE. TO SUMMARIZE THE REST THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL MORE TIMES, HAD FIRMWARE FLASHES AND SAID THEY HAVE NO OTHER REPAIR OPTIONS, THE LATEST IS RAM HAD ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN IGNORING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF WHEN THE ISSUES OCCURS AND SAYS THAT HARSH SHIFTING IS INERRANT ONCE THE VEHICLE BREAKS IN AT 5 - 6 THOUSAND MILES EVEN THOUGH THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THEY WERE DESCRIBING "HARSH SHIFTING". RAM CLOSED THE CASE SAYING THEY HAD NO FURTHER REPAIRS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE SAYS IT IS ACCEPTABLE.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON MY STREET. TRUCK DID NOT QUIT RUNNING . ALMOST LOST CONTROL BUT WAS MOVING SLOW, THANKFULLY. COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL MANUALLY. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO DEALER, STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH 6,800 MILES. POWER STEERING WAS WORKING WHEN ARRIVED AT DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM.
I HAVE HAD 2 TIRES SPONTANEOUSLY FAIL IN LAST TWO WEEKS. THE FIRST WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSED 2200 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. THE SECOND BLEW OUT WHILE I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY TRAVELING AT LESS THAN 5MPH. BOTH TIRES APPEARED TO FAIL IN THE SAME WAY, PERPENDICULAR TO THE SIDEWALK ACROSS THE TREAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT WAS VERY LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TATE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (2903, 7429 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED MORE COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, AFTER 1,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE LOST COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO TATE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM WHERE THE MECHANIC FOUND A LEAK IN THE EGR COOLER AND STATED THAT THE EGR CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRED FREDERICK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (39 WASHINGTON BLVD, LAUREL, MD 20707) WHERE THEY PERFORMED A PRESSURE TEST AND ADDED COOLANT. THE MECHANIC ALSO MENTIONED A WARRANTY ON THE DIESEL EMISSION. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
THOUGHT IT WAS IN PARK, ROLLED AWAY.
I EXPERIENCED A 'ROLL AWAY' EVENT AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK VIA THE GEAR KNOB SELECTOR WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. AFTER ENGAGING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND STEPPING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, IT ROLLED FORWARD CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE SOME 30 FEET AHEAD. THE INITIAL POSITION OF THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE A LARGE COMMERCIAL GARAGE. WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME DISENGAGED FROM PARK, IT ROLLED FORWARD THROUGH THE GARAGE DOORS AND INTO THE GARAGE SPACE UNTIL CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE (PARKED). AFTER REALIZING THE VEHICLE HAD DROPPED OUT OF PARK AND WAS MOVING FORWARD, I TRIED TO JUMP BACK INTO THE CAB TO APPLY THE BRAKES. I WAS UNABLE TO FULLY CATCH UP TO THE TRUCK, SLIPPED ON THE RUNNING BOARD/RAIL AND SLID UNDERNEATH THE MOVING VEHICLE -- INJURING MY ANKLE AND SHIN. FORTUNATELY, THE RAM WAS STOPPED JUST BEFORE RUNNING OVER MY LEGS BY THE PARKED VEHICLE AHEAD. I HAVE SECURITY SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S FRONT CHROME BUMPER FROM THE CRASH AND NOW HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE THAT THE TRUCK IS SAFE TO OPERATE. IT SITS VIRTUALLY UNUSED SINCE THE INCIDENT. I WAS HOPING TO GET CLARITY, ASSURANCE, ALONG WITH A SAFETY FIX AND BODY REPAIR FROM THE MANUFACTURER SO THAT I COULD FEEL CONFIDENT IN DRIVING IT AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED FCA AND OPENING A FORMAL CASE ON THIS INCIDENT. THEIR WRITTEN RESPONSE WAS TO QUOTE THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND INDICATE THE PARK IS ONLY A SUPPLEMENT TO THE PARKING BREAK. THIS RESPONSE IS UNSAFE, IMPRACTICAL AND UNACCEPTABLE.
I BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE AND PUT TRUCK INTO PARK, GOT OUT TO GRAB SOMETHING AND THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD WITH ME HOLDING ON TO THE DOOR, IT HIT MY GARAGE WALL, THEN WENT IN REVERSE, SPED UP, AND DRAGGED ME APPROXIMATELY 50FT THROUGH A FENCE AND THEN INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE, MY 10 YR OLD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT SCREAMING, IT WAS HORRIBLE. MY BACK WAS INJURED, MY BODY WAS BRUISED AND SCRAPED AND BOTH HOUSES HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. I BELIEVE THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ROTARY SHIFTER, ALSO IT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED HOW THE TRUCK COULD OF GONE IN REVERSE AFTER IT HIT MY HOUSE, YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT GEARS AND I WAS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. MY SECURITY CAMERA CAPTURED THIS ON VIDEO, I HAVE THIS ON A USB DRIVE, I ALSO HAVE ALL OF THE CLAIM FORMS FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY, REPAIR SHOP, HOSPITAL, RENTAL COMPANY, THERE IS TOO MUCH INFORMATION TO SCAN INTO A 5MB FILE. CHRYSLER SUPPOSEDLY HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED WHILE AT THE BODY SHOP, BUT CLAIMS THERE WAS NO PROBLEM? ALSO THE POLICE REPORT WAS WRITTEN BEFORE IT WAS KNOWN THE SECURITY CAMERA HAD RECORDED THE INCIDENT, THEREFORE WAS SLIGHTLY INACCURATE AS THIS WAS HARD FOR THEM TO BELIEVE IT HAPPEN AS I TOLD THEM.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IDLING IN PARK IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY WIFE IN PASSENGER SEAT. I HAD TO RUN AFTER IT AND AS SOON AS I OPENED DRIVER DOOR IT CAME TO A FULL STOP. VEHICLE WAS IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODE AT THE TIME. AGAIN VEHICLE WAS IN PARK!
MY TRUCK ROLLED BACK ABOUT 6 FT IN MY DRIVE WAY WHILE IT WAS PARKED ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER GETTING OUT THE TRUCK. I MOVED THE TRUCK BACK AND ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER IT ROLLED BACK 4 FT. I THEN MOVED IT AGAIN AND PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON WITH NO MOVEMENT MY DRIVEWAY HAS A SMALL INCLINE AROUND 3-4%.
I HAD RECEIVED THIS DODGE RAM AS A RENTAL WHILE MY TRUCK WAS GETTING BODY WORK DONE. BEFORE I PICKED UP MY SON AT SCHOOL I STOPPED AT MY HOUSE TO EMPTY OUT SOME WORK TOOLS TO MAKE ROOM FOR HIM. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK WITH THE ROTARY DIAL ON A SLIGHT INCLINE ON MY LANEWAY I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND WALKED TOWARDS MY FRONT DOOR. AS I WALKED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK I HEARD THE SNOW COMPRESSING BEHIND ME. I TURNED AROUND AND SEEN THE TRUCK ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN MY LANEWAY. MY REACTION WAS TO CHASE THE TRUCK THINKING I MUST HAVE FORGOT TO PUT IT IN PARK. I CAUGHT UP WITH THE TRUCK THREW THE DOOR OPEN AND JUMPED IN. I PUT THE BRAKE ON AND NOTICED IT WAS IN PARK. I TURNED THE TRUCK ON AND DROVE IT BACK UP THE LANEWAY. I THEN TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK AGAIN AND LET MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. IT ROLLED BACK AGAIN SO I DROVE IT FORWARD AGAIN AND TRIED PARK AGAIN WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND IT ROLLED BACK AGAIN. I THEN TURNED THE TRUCK AROUND AND BACKED UP THE LANEWAY AND PUT IT IN PARK AND LET OFF THE BRAKE. THE TRUCK THEN ENGAGED IN PARK BUT WOULD THEN CHUG ITS WAY DOWN THE LANEWAY BUT IN A SLOWER MANNER. AFTER PICKING UP MY BOY AT SCHOOL I PARKED MY TRUCK IN MY SHOP AND WENT IN THE HOUSE. AFTER HALF AN HOUR MY ADRENALINE WORE OFF AND MY HAND, WRIST AND ARM STARTED TO HURT. I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND RECEIVED X-RAYS, I ENDED UP TEARING MY LIMB MUSCLES FROM OPENING THE DOOR HANDLE AND JUMPING INTO THE TRUCK. I CALLED THE RENTAL COMPANY TO LET THEM KNOW AND DEMANDED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. I DO HAVE PICTURES OF THE REGISTRATION FROM THE RENTAL COMPANY AND MY DOCTORS NOTES ON MY PHONE BUT I AM HAVING DIFFICULTIES UPLOADING THEM TO MY COMPUTER RIGHT NOW. *TR
WHILE TRUCK IS SITTING IN PARK AND UNATTENDED, THE TRUCK WILL ROLL BACKWARDS SOMETIME A COUPLE INCHES SOMETIMES A FEW YARDS
VEHICLE WAS BACKED INTO A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE. STARTED VEHICLE AND PULLED FORWARD OUT OF GARAGE. PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. UPON EXITING, VEHICLE BEGAN TRAVELING IN REVERSE AND TRAVELED BACKWARDS INTO THE GARAGE HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE WALL. HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 8.5 MONTHS AND APPROX. 21,000 MILES AND IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE "ROTARY SHIFTER". HAVE NOTICED A FEW OTHER OCCASIONS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED IN PARK AND AN ONSCREEN WARNING CAME UP "VEHICLE NOT IN PARK". 17 DAYS PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK AND WHEN THE OWNER EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CAME TO THE REAR, HE NOTICED THE REVERSE LIGHTS WERE ON HOWEVER THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE DUE THE INCLINE IT WAS PARKED ON. I BELIEVE THE ROTARY SHIFTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY.

COMING HOME FROM WORK ON JANUARY 5, 2017, I PULLED MY 2016 RAM 1500 PICKUP PART WAY INTO MY GARAGE, TURNED THE ROTARY SHIFTER TO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD A CLEAR PATH OF TRAVEL TO FULLY PULL THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE. MY DRIVEWAY IS AN UPSLOPE AND A PORTION OF THE TRUCK WAS STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER I EXITED THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO MOVE BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE'S DOOR THREW ME TO THE GROUND AND SWEPT MY LEGS UNDER THE TRUCK.THE FRONT LEFT TIRE RAN OVER BOTH OF MY LEGS. THE TRUCK CONTINUED DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET, THROUGH OUR NEIGHBOR'S FENCE AND ONLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A TREE IN THEIR FRONT YARD. MY FAMILY RUSHED ME TO OUR LOCAL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM AND WAS I WAS ADMITTED INTO THAT HOSPITAL THE FOLLOWING MORNING.

STEERING WHEEL POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, THERE IS A INTERMITTENT POPPING NOISE BEHIND THE DASHBOARD AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN . AT TIMES I CAN FEEL VIBRATION OF THE POP BEING TRANSFERRED UP THE STEERING COLUMN TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND INTO MY HANDS. THIS POPPING NOISE STARTED A MONTH AND A HALF AGO AND IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE, MORE FREQUENT, AND HAS MIGRATED WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AS WELL. THIS POPPING NOISE HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ON CITY STREETS. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN TO THE SELLING DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY WON'T LOOK AT IT AGAIN UNTIL A CHRYSLER TECH REP IS AVAILABLE. THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THAT WILL BE. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY ALSO DON'T KNOW WHEN A CHRYSLER TECH REP WILL BE AVAILABLE.
MY 2016 RAM 1500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 ROLLED AWAY AFTER BEING PARKED. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES THEN I HEARD A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE, TURNED AROUND AS MY TRUCK STARTED TO ROLL AND JERK DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY TRUCK AND STOP IT BEFORE IT HIT THE PARKED CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KEPT IT FOR 2 DAYS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO CODES RECORDED ON THE TRUCK AND THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ROLL AWAY. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY TRUCK FOR 6 WEEKS AND IT HAS LESS THAN 1200 MILES ON IT.

TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BREAK AND THE TRUCK WENT FORWARD. LOOKED DOWN VERIFIED THE SHIFTER WAS IN PARK FIANCE VERIFIED ALSO AND THE D LIGHT WAS BLINKING ON MY DIAL SHIFTER BUT WAS TURNED TO PARK. PUT THE EMERGENCY BREAK ON TURNED THE KEY OF TURNED THE KEY BACK ON AND LOW AND BEHOLD IT WAS IN PARK AND P WAS LIT UP. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS ROLLED FORWARD WHILE IN PARK. LAST TIME IT TOOK MY GARAGE DOOR OUT. I FILED A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT 10936408 ABOUT THAT INCIDENT BUT WANTED TO PUT IN A COMPLAINT FOR THIS INCIDENT ALSO. THIS IS GETTING TO BE QUITE DANGEROUS. I DO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN I PARK NOW. HARD HABIT TO GET INTO WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC BUT I AM GETTING IN THE HABIT. I AM JUST HAPPY THAT IT WAS AFTER SCHOOL HOURS AND NO LITTLE KIDS WALKED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED THAT COULD HAVE BEEN BAD REAL BAD.. THIS HAPPENED IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOT TRUCK WAS AT A FULL STOP AND SHIFTER WAS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO PARK BUT D LIGHT STARTED BLINKING ONCE THE TRUCK DROVE FORWARD ON ITS OWN UNTIL KEY WAS SHUT OFF AND WHAT APPEARS TO ME IT RESET THE COMPUTER SO IT WENT TO PARK WHEN KEY WAS TURNED ON AGAIN.
WHILE TRUCK IS PLACED IN PARK IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACK WHILE ON HILL. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. PARKING BREAK IS NOT ALWAYS STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD WIGHT OF TRUCK ON INCLINE.
AT EXTREMELY LOW SPEED THE FRONT COLLISION WARNING SENSOR WILL OCCASIONALLY FALSELY WARN OF AN OBJECT PRESENT. NUMEROUS REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. DEALER CLAIMS WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE EVER REPORTED THIS PROBLEM. WAITING FOR FCA TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO NEXT. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE EVENTS BUT CURRENTLY NO STILL PHOTOS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES STARTING IN DEC 2016 AND AS RECENTLY AS AUG 6, 2018.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
IT SEEMS THAT MY TRUCK ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVE WAY WHEN IT WAS PARKED AND THE ROTARY SHIFTER WAS IN "P" POSITION. I PARKED IT SATURDAY NIGHT (12/17/2016) AND FOUND IT SUNDAY MORNING AGAINST THE GARAGE. THE TRUCK ROLLED AGAINST THE GARAGE DOOR POST. THE REAR BUMPER AND THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK ARE DAMAGED AS WELL AS THE SIDING OF THE GARAGE.

ROTARY KNOB DOES NOT INDICATE THAT VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND GARAGE AS IT TOOK OFF AFTER EXITING TRUCK. CANNOT CONFIRM IF THE KNOB WAS ACTUALLY TURNED TO PARK. MAIN CONCERN IS WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF FAMILY MEMBERS, KIDS, WERE IN THE GARAGE. I MYSELF NARROWLY ESCAPED BEING PINNED AGAINST SECOND CAR IN GARAGE THAT ALSO GOT HIT.
TWICE I HAD THE TRUCK ROLL BACKWARDS WHEN IN PARK AND PARKED ON A STEEP DRIVEWAY. BOTH TIMES THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF. BOTH TIMES THE TRUCK ROLLED BACKWARDS ABOUT TEN FEET UNTIL I APPLIED THE BRAKES. AFTER I STOPPED THE TRUCK, I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND CONFIRMED IT WAS IT PARK. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON THE SAME DRIVEWAY, SO I WAS EXPECTING IT THE SECOND TIME. THE SECOND TIME THE TRUCK ROLLED BACK A COUPLE OF INCHES (AS EXPECTED IN A SLOPPED DRIVEWAY), IT SEEMED TO CATCH, BUT THEN STARTED MOVING AGAIN. IT SEEMED TO HAVE SOME RESISTANCE, BUT STILL ROLLED ABOUT TEN FEET AT WHICH TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THERE WAS A LIGHT COATING OF SNOW ON THE DRIVEWAY AND I COULD EASILY MAKE OUT THE TIRE PRINT., SO THE TIRE WAS NOT SLIDING. PLUS OTHER TRUCKS AND CARS WHERE ABLE TO PARK ON THE DRIVEWAY AND WE WHERE ABLE TO WALK UP THE DRIVEWAY WITHOUT SLIPPING, SO I DO NOT BELIEVE THE TRUCK WAS SLIDING ON THE SNOW. *TR
ON DEC 5TH 2016 I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND FORGOT THE TRASH CAN WAS BEHIND THE TRUCK GOT OUT MY 2016 DODGE RAM THAT HAS 4700 MILES TO MOVE THE TRASH CAN FROM BEHIND MY TRUCK. THOUGHT I HAD IT IN PARK AND IT ROLLED FORWARD INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. BEFORE IT PUSHED COMPLETELY IN TO TOUCH THE OTHER CAR I GOT THE TRUCK STOPPED. I SEEN THIS INVESTIGATION ON THE NEWS SO WANTED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT KNOWN. IT HAD ME THINKING DID I NOT PUT IT IN PARK OR DID I TURN DOWN THE RADIO BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CLOSE THE DIAL SHIFTER AND VOLUME CONTROL. I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING BUT STARTED DOUBTING MYSELF BEFORE I HEARD THIS REPORT. IT WAS SO EARLY IN THE MORNING AROUND 6:30 AM. THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY.
