Data synced from NHTSA on May 4, 2026
Issue with rear door not latching closed when temperatures are below freezing. When attempting to close the door it will just bounce back open. I had to use a ratchet strap to keep the door closed while driving home. Vehicle was taken back to dealership who verified the issue and replaced door latch. Issue occurred again after new latch when left in freezing temperatures. Online research shows numerous people having the same issue and it could be related to water/moisture getting inside the door and freezing in a U shape bend in the door latch cable.
When I attempted to suddenly brake once I saw the car in front of me braking, my brakes locked and the truck slid into the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the ESC system did not allow the expected intervention that is relied upon to avoid a vehicle crash without prior warning. I was in the deceleration phase of braking quickly, but the brakes did not respond in a timely manner. I was not made aware of the recall of the ABS control module software until after the accident took place. If I would have been made aware of such a defect I would have taken the precautions and action to repair or remedy the failed system to avoid unnecessary risk to both myself and others. Sep 05, 2024 Manufacturer Recall Number: 75B NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-653 Recall Status Recall Incomplete Summary Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard ("FMVSS") 571.126 S5.1.2 ESC Functionality requires that the ESC system "Is operational during all phases of driving including acceleration, coasting, and deceleration (including braking) [ ... ]." Suspect vehicles may experience the ESC system being disabled when certain conditions are met. Safety Risk Failure of the ESC system when intervention is expected and/or relied upon can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Remedy FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to update the ABS control module software.
Making a slight left, turn the steering wheel sticks
The driver reported loud sounds coming from the engine bay and an exhaust smell inside the cab. He mentioned that he passed out due to the fumes entering the cab during a warm up of the truck. An inspection revealed several issues with the exhaust manifold, including cracked manifolds and broken bolts. The cost of repairs was too high for the owner, as it would exceed $2,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a subtle vibration in the steering wheel, and occasionally the steering wheel was pulling to the left or the right, causing the contact to correct the steering wheel. The service power steering warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact used a DTC scanner and retrieved a code for the power steering rack failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.
While traveling at low speeds, power steering fails. Dash indicates a warning message “Power steering service unavailable”. There is a recall for this exact issue, same year and model, but my VIN is not included. Diagnostic at dealership shows issue is same as recalled issue but is not able to repair under recall due to VIN. Dealership states cost to repair is $3400.
I was turning at a light when my truck gave a message saying “switch to p” and wouldn’t let me accelerate there was no shoulder to pull over so I had to stop in the middle of the road switch to parking and then to drive this is concerning as I research and found out that it has happened to a few other people and RAM is not doing anything about it when the issue is brought to them they treat the problem as a case by case basis claiming they have never heard that problem
Truck will not shut off. Had to disconnect the battery. ESC - Electronic Stability Control Warning came on Scheduled for inspection at dealer. No warning signs just happened suddenly. Would not start, had to jump the truck, then would not shut off followed by ESC warning. My VIN does not come up under the 85B recall but my truck has the issue
My Ram 1500 front drive assembly issue. The initial issue was failure to engage in 4wheel drive. In either 4 wheel low, high or Auto. During replacing the transfer case it became obvious that axle in some way basically became welded to housing so had to replace left axle as well. Do to these problems I now have to replace front differential (part# 68349702AE and right axle (part# 68259567AA) as well because of the failure of transfer case and left axle. My issue is 1st the differential part is not available in my area (Nassau County NY). 2nd is that there is a recall for a faulty gear or bearing in the front drive train that my VIN# is not included in this recall. Could this bearing/gear have caused my issue? 3rd is if the front differential is on such a long back order that is telling me that Stelantis has an issue with the reliability of this part (68349702AE). Why if this is in such demand and numerous problems with them hasn't NHTSA not forced Stalantis to recall these parts. My truck is a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 Hemi with just 38,677 miles presently today. I have never taken this truck 4 wheeling or on the beach. The only time I have used 4 wheel drive is when the roads are slick due to rain, snow or ice, because of the light rear end. The last time 4 wheel drive was used was last years snow storm. Just don't understand hardly ever used and all this damage, truck was never in a substantial accident. I clipped drivers side back door and small section of bed, minor. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm already into this for $2500 and looking at another $3000. Thank You.
When driving in wet road conditions the truck will jerk the steering wheel to the left into oncoming traffic. When the condition happens it’s impossible to hold the steering wheel straight to keep in the proper lane. During dry road conditions the steering works and will remain in the proper lane with no issues
My etorque alternator went out at 106k miles. I can't find anyone that sells the part not even at the dealer. I've been without a pickup for a month now.
I have a rear window leak that is that is from a manufacturing defect, as described in this TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10247466-9999.pdf I originally took the vehicle into the dealer in advance of my factory extended warranty expiring and they said they would call me back to schedule a fix/replacement. They never did. Now, my extended warranty has expired and when I went back in to schedule, they are saying that the repair will not be covered, despite the TSB and warranty extension being in place because the "XL1" code does not show up in their system. The dealer instructed me to call Stellantis Customer Care, where I was connected with an overseas call center that said they were unable to do anything and that I should return the vehicle to the dealer, who already told me they will not cover the repair. It has been several months of back and forth and I would like to get this corrected before I go through ANOTHER winter season with a leak.
Vehicle behaved erratically before repair and still does. It seemed a bit better after the repair but issues are still there. It lurches forward when coming to a stop and accelerates in a delayed manner, starting slow and then jumping forward. The 4 wheel drive issues system errors like overheated and function diminished. At times it just doesn't work. Systems turn themselves on. (axle lock) These issues existed since the vehicle was new with the dealership telling me they didn't know what could cause them.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated when the vehicle was started, the infotainment screen was blank. The vehicle was restarted but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the digital cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V556000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
While driving my steering wheel will stick left or right while turning and the power steering is intermittently working. This is a major problem with 2019 ram 1500s. While turning there is also a horrible sound outside the vehicle and it sounds like there is sand being ground up in the steering wheel. This problem makes my vehicle unsafe to drive as i dont know if i will be able to steer or if my steering wheel is going to completely lock up.
I came to a stop at a red light. The auto stop/start was active so the engine stopped. When the light turned green, I lifted off the brake and the truck started back up as usual. Once I got into the middle of the intersection, the truck stalled out and the parking brake set and skidded to a stop. I restarted the truck and released the parking brake. I made it 10 more feet and the truck stalled a second time and again set the parking brake. I had several cars swerve to avoid my truck. I started up and made it off the road to a parking lot. I couldn't replicate the issue and drove home cautiously. 18*F outside temp and recent snow storm.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH on the highway, the steering seized, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the vehicle started to veer to the right and the steering wheel was difficult to turn to keep the vehicle in the intended lane. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was slowly driven to the residence. The vehicle was previously repaired by the previous owner of the vehicle under an undisclosed NHTSA recall. The local dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was scheduled for repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
Yes, a failing EGR cooler can indirectly affect the exhaust pressure control valve by disrupting the normal exhaust gas flow, potentially causing the valve to operate outside its intended parameters due to abnormal pressure fluctuations in the exhaust manifold, leading to potential issues with engine performance and emissions control. Explanation: Pressure imbalances: When an EGR cooler fails, it can leak coolant into the exhaust system, which creates steam and disrupts the normal exhaust gas flow, leading to uneven pressure changes in the exhaust manifold. EGR valve response: The exhaust pressure control valve (often part of the EGR system) relies on a specific pressure differential to regulate the flow of exhaust gas back into the engine. If the pressure in the exhaust manifold is significantly altered due to a failing EGR cooler, the valve may not function optimally. Potential consequences: Reduced engine performance: Incorrect EGR flow due to pressure fluctuations can lead to reduced power and poor acceleration. Increased emissions: Improper EGR function can result in higher emissions levels. Check engine light: A failing EGR cooler often triggers a check engine light due to the engine's inability to maintain optimal operating parameters. Key points to remember: While an EGR cooler failure directly impacts the coolant system, its effects can cascade to affect the exhaust pressure control valve due to the altered exhaust gas dynamics. If you suspect an EGR cooler problem, it's crucial to have it inspected and repaired promptly to prevent further complications with other components like the exhaust pressure control valve. The information that is above details why when the EGR cooler was recalled by mopar and then fixed is most likely the reason that caused my sensor to fail. The dealership where the recall repairs are being done is trying to charge me almost $1500.00 dollars to replace them even though they are directly related to the recall. ( 19V-757)
I have a 2019 dodge ram and the alternator been out since December 2024 and it's on back order I can't get to work and can't pay on the truck something need to be done about this I need help

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the recall repair was completed. The contact was advised by the mechanic at the dealer that the system update caused the e-brake to seize, and the dealer was awaiting the delivery of the part to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the contact attempted to avoid crashing into a bicyclist and depressed the brake pedal however, the brakes failed to engage. As a result, the front passenger side of the vehicle crashed into a tree; before the crash, there was an abnormal sound whenever the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" message was intermittently displayed on the instrument panel. There was severe cosmetic damage. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained shoulder and back pain injuries due to the impact and received medical treatment for the injuries. No one who was not in the vehicle was injured. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control). The failure mileage was 180,000.
Back Window just imploded while driving there was no impact and nothing touched it, it shattered causing little shards of glass falling inside the back seat and this would have been very bad if we would have had anyone in the back seat! I investigated after this happened and found out more 5th Gen Ram owners with this same back window had the same issues
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear window fractured. The contact stated that there was a large crack on both sides of the rear window. The contact stated that there was no impact to have caused the window to crack. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Active grill shutters code u11e9 we replaced wire harness and actuator and still getting code that’s causing an engine light .Brought to dealer and they did a recall on the air dam. Asked dealer to diagnose engine light after the fixed air dam and still getting a code for active grill shutter they told me I needed to replace active grill shutter. I explained to dealer we replace all the components to the active grill shutter. We live in MA can’t get a inspection sticker because of the engine light.
Abs and traction control dash lights randomly illuminate briefly while accelerating, cruising or breaking. Stays illuminated for approx 20-30 secs then goes out. Have not noticed any effect to performance while actually braking. Speed varies* ...

The power steering says it's "unavailable" and "needs servicing" when cold starting the vehicle at tempuratures lower than 45 degrees fahrenheit. I purchased the vehicle used and owned it for one day when this error occured. My safety was put at risk because when the error went away and I drove down the road, the error returned and the steering wheel locked up when I was driving, could've caused a nasty accident if the timing was worse. The problem is reproduced when the vehicle is cold started at tempuratures of 45 degrees fahrenheit or lower. The EPS component is currently being inspected by the used car dealership. The warning message only appeared as the power steering malfunctioned, there was no prior warning to the power steering failing, making the vehicle extremely unsafe to drive as their is complete uncertaintly when the power steering will shut off.
I have a 2019 Dodge Ram that slips out of gear and an error message comes up on dash "shift to park and then to desired gear". This is extremely dangerous as it happens in traffic. I have taken truck to dealer two times for four days each. They say that they cannot do anything unless they can recreate the same problem. It does not happen all the time but does happen in traffic. I videoed it when it happened but they say they need to see it. I asked if you see it what would you do and the answer is they do not know. I contacted dodge customer service and got a call but it was useless conversations. I see many other dodge truck owners online with same issue including videos too but dodge customer service seems to have no records of other drivers with same problem. Help. It is dangerous and I cannot not get anything other than a run around about they cannot recreate it. Help Help. First visit was 12/2024 and second visit was 01/2025. Katie Marsh and Jason Tasker shop foreman were my contacts at Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Leesburg Florida. 1-352-707-4662 . Someone from Dodge customer service corporate called several times but was basically a referee between me and dealer admittly so. The number as 1-844-378-0573. I do not have a name.
The backlite window on my 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie (VIN: KN655467) has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put my safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable. On two separate occasions, I was left stranded and had to have the vehicle towed. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. The issue has been confirmed and reproduced by the authorized RAM dealership. The dealership determined that water intrusion from the backlite window caused the failure of the RF hub and other electrical components. Despite this, RAM/Stellantis has refused to replace the backlite window under warranty, only applying a temporary sealant fix that has repeatedly failed. The vehicle has been inspected by RAM dealership technicians multiple times. Each time, the dealership has confirmed water intrusion as the source of electrical failures. RAM/Stellantis has been made aware of the issue but refuses to properly address it. There were no warning lamps or messages before the initial failure. The first symptom appeared when the vehicle failed to recognize the key fob and would not start in November 2024. After the RF hub replacement, the issue reoccurred, requiring additional repairs. I purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 in November and have since been unable to pass state inspection due to several issues with the vehicle. I have contacted the dealership three times to request repairs, but they have repeatedly told me there is nothing they can do. I reached out to the Massachusetts Lemon Law, and they advised me to contact a lawyer immediately. The problems preventing my vehicle from passing inspection include excessive play in the bushing of the right front upper control arm, excessive play in the ball joint of the right front lower control arm, issues with both front struts, and excessive wear on the stub shafts of the front differential assembly, necessitating a front axle replacement since a kit is unavailable. Additionally, both front axle shafts need attention, and I require four-wheel spacers to prevent tire rubbing, as well as four fender flares. Within the first 30 days of purchase, I informed the dealership about the truck's tires not passing inspection. They acknowledged the tires were worn but claimed they still passed. When alignment issues arose due to bad ball joints, the dealership insisted the ball joints were up to spec. Unsatisfied, I sought a second opinion from another Dodge dealership, which confirmed the ball joints were faulty and identified additional issues with the front axles, struts, control arms, and front differential assembly. I provided this information to the original dealership, seeking repairs, but was again told there was nothing they could do. I have documented all my communications with the dealership and their responses. At the time of purchase, I received a powertrain warranty through Zurich that covers the front axles and front differential assembly. However, the dealership did not provide an inspection report or certification of the vehicle's condition when I bought it.
While driving vehicle set to park and would not drive until I turned it off and back. Days later every time I set to reverse it automatically set V back to park and was not able to drive that evening. I have seen multiple issues on RAM forum so I took vehicle in for inspection and now have been told Transmission needs replacement although vehicle has less than 70,000 miles on it. Also dashboard lights all light up turned off and on problem seems electrical
Third Brake light (pulse brake light) causes interior leaks causing damage to electrical, interior rust on seats, water damage, headliner staining. This is a common issue. Larson Dodge in Puyallup stated they see approximately three Rams in weekly for this issue including my vehicle 1500. Dodge should do a recall to replace light and repair all damage caused by water damage.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, a warning chime sounded. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated while the chime was sounding. The contact slowed down and heard an abnormal sound underneath the vehicle before the wheels locked up. The vehicle stopped on the roadway independently without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the engine was running; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was towed back to her residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
ELECTRIC POWER STERING GOES IN AND OUT OF SERVICE, WHEN MAKING TURNS OR JUST STOPED A TRAFFIC LIGHT, VERY HARD TO MAKE TURNS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE HARTD TO STEER WHEN EPS GOES OUT YES, DEALER SAID NEED TO BE REPLACED BAD WIRING INSIDE NOT UNDER WARINTY OR RECALL NO, JUST STARTED ONE DAY, MSG ON DASH POWER STERING UNAVABLE SEREVICE
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with instrument cluster failure. The contact was informed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised not to drive the vehicle until the repair was completed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
Power steering failed while driving on highway. “Power steering unavailable” warning illuminated on dash, accompanied by immediate complete loss of power steering. Turning without it is extremely difficult in this vehicle, and if was not traveling on a straight road, likely would have caused a wreck. After a quick online search, it does not appear that this is uncommon in the 2019-2024 Rams. The dealer invoice, to replace the entire Electronic Power steering rack is attached. They have indicated that the problem is with the electronics in the rack/module.
The car not turning on the engine light is on. The A! Light on.
When adding fuel the fuel nozzle constantly shut off making fueling the vehicle difficult. When fueling the nozzle has to be held almost to the top of the fuel neck to allow fuel in slowly. By having to fuel the truck like this causes the fuel nozzle to not shut off when the tank is full and fuel leaks all over the ground.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that parts were not yet available for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after rainfall, the contact became aware that water was leaking into the interior of the vehicle through the rear sliding window. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was inspected. The dealer informed the contact that the rear sliding window molding was cracked, causing the window to detach from the molding, which caused water to leak into the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 23-016-21. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
There is a recall - say there is no current remedy Been almost 30 - winter is here — this becomes more of life and safety issue
Truck will randomly refuse to turn left.
The contact owned a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, a Kia Forte ran a red light traveling at approximately 70 MPH, T-boned/crashed on the passenger side, which pushed the vehicle into oncoming traffic, and a Toyota Tundra crashed into the front of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. There was no reported fire. A police report was filed. The front airbags did not deploy. The curtain airbag deployed. The contact sustained injuries to his back and shoulder, and medical attention was provided. The vehicle was towed to his residence. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 193,000.
MY 2019 RAM 1500 CLASSIC SLT CREW CAB, has a serious safety DEFECT of a Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component responsible for recognizing the key fob and enabling the vehicle to start which won't allow fob to work or remote start. This is caused by the rear light back window has a recurring leak that has resulted in water intrusion into the vehicle. This water damage led to the failure of the Remote Frequency (RF) hub, a critical component. The issue has also resulted in corrosion to wiring harnesses and electrical components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This issue has put mine and my wife's safety at risk on multiple occasions. The vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize the key fob, rendering it completely inoperable as well as the remote starter. I've been left stranded multiple times due to this defect causing keyfob to not work not allowing me to enter the vehicle either when needed especially when my wife is alone at night in this vehicle. Additionally, electrical failures pose a fire hazard and could potentially affect other critical systems while the vehicle is in operation. There are thousands of ram truck owners also complaining of the exact same issue. I have incurred expenses such as tow fee's and shop fee's when we can't enter the vehicle when posing only the fob on our person and diagnostics of this issue. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN
I have a 2019 Ram Laramie and one of the power side view mirrors no longer works as it should because the plastic gear or the motor is broken. When you google the problem it seems to be a very common problem among RAM truck owners is typically occurs because the plastic (instead of metal) gears fail. This issue is a health and safety concern for the driver of these trucks with a broken mirror, other drivers on the road, and pedestrians. When the plastic gear breaks the mirrors so not stay in place as they should so when you go to look in the mirror the view/angle might be off (i.e. the mirror won't show the view that you set it to show because the mirror moves around due to the broken gear). There should be a recall on plastic gears to replace them with a metal gears.
Service Electronic Stability Control error thrown while driving down a main highway. Truck went into max RPM and slowed to 20MPH or less on a high traffic road and could have caused major accident. Truck is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis. No warning prior to failure and error message thrown and vehicle is currently on a recall for the same issue for same year make and model, however my VIN is not associated with the recall as of yet.
I took my 2019 Ram 1500 to a Ram dealer on 10/21/2024 for the Anti-lock Breaking System Module Configuration Mismatch safety recall 75B/NHTSA 24V-653. There were no warning lights on in my vehicle when it was dropped off. When the dealership attempted to apply the safety recall it caused something in the ABS module to fail, and they then said I needed a new ABS module that will cost $500-$700 to replace. This failure has disabled traction control, antilock braking, and auto start/stop. The dealer said they did not have the ABS module and had no ETA as to when it would be in stock. The ABS module has been out of stock nationally for months with no estimated time of availability. Now, there are warning lamps and messages for the ABS and Traction Control. Now, I am unsure if the vehicle is safe to drive in adverse conditions where ABS and traction control would likely be needed. At the very least, a major part like an ABS Module should be available for a fairly late model vehicle. This defect "repair" has obviously caused the ABS Module failure. The dealer tried to say there was already something wrong with the ABS Module before the repairs were attempted, but neither I nor they noted any warning lamps or messages before the repairs were attempted. If the module had already failed but did not produce any warnings, that sounds like another defect that they should be required to repair.
As my son was driving down the interstate, the power steering went out and stopped working. And he got a service needed message.
