And could potentially effect the other functionalities (ram had a previous recall on later models) This was reproduced at the service center Not sure if it was inspected by anyone besides dealership and myself No warning lamps. The contact owns a 2022 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard a grinding sound coming from the steering wheel. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact then stated that the steering wheel electrical functions started to malfunction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
When turning on a highway exit ramp approximately 60mph Adaptive steering may have caused vehicle to not turn adequately and begin to go off the road. Lane keep assist failed to keep or even attempt to keep vehicle in lane and on the road. Adaptive steering may have prevented corrective action to prevent incident. Vehicle struck a guard rail as a result which potentially could have been fatal. No testing, investigation, or inspection has been conducted at this time. No warnings or messages were displayed.
