I WAS DRIVING MY SATURN OUTLOOK 2008 TO GO ONTO THE HIGHWAY. AS I ACCELERATED, THE GAS PEDAL/TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK AND THE RPM STAYED @5000 RPM FOR ABOUT 8 SECONDS DURING MY ATTEMPT TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE RPM LET UP WE HEARD A LOUD THUMP NOISE AND THEN THE CAR WAS ABLE TO GET UNSTUCK. IT TOOK ABOUT 8+ SECONDS FOR THE BRAKES TO ACTUALLY TAKE OVER. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 4 TIMES. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK THAT HAS BURNING WIRE HARNESSES. THEY HAVE COMPLETELY MELTED AT 40,000 MILES. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COVER IT. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I BECAME AWARE THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE LIGHTS WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT IS NOT WORKING BECAUSE THE WIRING HARNESS IS MELTED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY PASSENGER LIGHT WENT OUT SO I FIGURED I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE BULB. THE NEXT NIGHT IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND WENT OUT AGAIN SO I FIGURED THERE WAS A SHORT. I GOT INTO THE LIGHT FIXTURE AND LOOKED AT THE BULB AND IT LOOKED GOOD BUT I PULLED THE LIGHT OUT ANYWAYS TO CHANGE FOR NEW SINCE I WAS IN THERE ALREADY. TO MY SURPRISE THE FIXTURE HOLDING THE LAMP WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND LOOKED LIKE THERE WAS ARCHING TO IT WITH THE PLASTIC MELTED ALL AROUND IT. PLUS SOME CORROSION ON SOME OF THE WIRES. I WORK FOR THE AIR FORCE ON F16'S SO I KNOW ALOT ABOUT THE CORROSION AND THE WAY IT LOOKS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT LOOKS FROM SEARCHING THE WEB HAPPENS IN A LOT OF THESE VEHICLES. IT ISN'T A FREAK THING THAT JUST HAPPENED TO A COUPLE CARS. BY THE INSPECTION OF THE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR THERE IS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE THIS CAUSES A FIRE AND OR ACCIDENT. *TR
HEADLIGHT WIRING DEFECT. *TR
THE LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS MELTED AFTER ABOUT 2 YEARS OF USAGE. AFTER LOOKING THE PASSENGER LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS WAS ALSO MELTED. THIS IS A 2008 OUTLOOK XE AND I WOULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED TO SPEND $300 FOR THIS IF THE PARTS FAIL BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER DIDN'T USE HEAVY ENOUGH WIRE OR PLACED IT IN A BAD PLACE. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK, 56,000 MILES, LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT. DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT OUT. CHECKED ONLINE FORUMS AND HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. HAD TO USE HIGH BEAMS TO REACH DESTINATION AT THE SAME TIME I WAS SURELY BLINDING OTHER DRIVERS IN WHICH I BELIEVE IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND THE OTHER DRIVERS. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIPS OF PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LOW BEAMS GOING OUT IS BECAUSE OF FAULTY WIRE HARNESS AND WOULD COST 237 DOLLARS FOR EACH HEADLIGHT 474 DOLLARS TOTAL. ALSO, THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE LIMITED 100,000 MILE GM WARRANTY. IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST OTHER SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS AND YOU NEED LIGHTS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT, THIS WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, THEN LIGHT WOULD SAY ENGINE POWER REDUCED. ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE 2011. BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. TODAY COMPLETE POWER LOSS, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RESPOND AGAIN. 85000 MILES NOW. THIS HAS HAPPENED FROM EVERY SPEED FROM 1 MPH TO 60 MPH. *TR
OVERHEATING OF LOW BEAM HEADLAMP WIRING CAUSING MELTING OF PLASTIC COMPONENTS. HEADLAMPS WILL LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AND ALL LAMP LIGHT WILL BE LOST. *LN
2 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE OUTLOOK...FIRST, THE AIRBAG. WE HAVE HAD IT FIXED 5 TIMES! THE DEALER RE-ROUTED IT, PUT IT BACK, REPLACED WIRING, BUT TO NO AVAIL. AND IT APPEARS AGAIN THAT IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR. THEN 2ND THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW LIGHT BEAM WENT OUT....REPLACED BULB THREE TIMES AND IT DIDN'T HOLD A CHARGE FOR ABOUT A FEW DAYS EACH. GM DEFINITELY NEED TO LOOK AT THESE PROBLEMS. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED THAT A CAR THAT JUST GOES OUT OF WARRANTY HAS PROBLEMS THAT NEED MAJOR FIXING. *LN
THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS WENT OUT ON THE DRIVERSIDE BUT WAS REPLACED N COVERED THROUGH WARRANTY BUT NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS HAS BURNED OUT AND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED NOT BEING ABLE TO COVER THIS DEFECT. *TR
WIRE HARNESS ON 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK HAS 'MELTED'. BEEN SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING AT DIFFERENT AND UNKNOWN TIMES. EITHER FROM A STOP OR TRYING TO TURN A CORNER, THE POWER STEERING QUITS WORKING AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, SOMETIMES CAUSING ME TO ENTER THE NEXT LANE OF TRAFFIC. THERE IS NO WARNING AS TO WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN, OR AT WHAT EXACT SPEED. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRES HAD MELTED, CAUSING A SHORT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE DEFECT RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE APPROXIMATELY ELEVEN MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILURE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE EXPENSES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OUR 2008 SATURN JUST HAD TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW LAMP HEADLIGHT FIXED. MELTED HARNESS PIECE. WE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS ONE BECAUSE WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY TIME (60K MILES). THE PASSENGER SIDE LAMP WENT OUT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S RIDICULOUS THAT WE JUST SPENT $279 TO HAVE A LIGHT REPAIRED THAT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH SATURNS... BEFORE THAT WE HAD THE WHOLE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT PROBLEM. THE CAR DOESN'T SENSE WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. DEALERSHIP SAID CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WILL COST US BECAUSE IT'S PROBABLY A FAULTY SENSOR. THIS IS OUR SECOND OUTLOOK. LEMON-LAWED THE 2007 AND THOUGHT WE'D GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE. NOT SMART ON OUR PART IN RETROSPECT! *TR
SPONTANEOUS LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURES DUE TO WIRING HARNESS DEFECT. HEADLIGHT SOCKET HARNESS & WIRING WAS MELTED. PASSENGER SIDE FAILED IN OCTOBER 2010. DRIVER SIDE FAILED IN DECEMBER 2010. IN BOTH CASES THE GM DEALER NEEDED TO REPLACE HARNESS & BULB. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT IN DECEMBER 2010. REPLACED BULB. LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN IN JULY 2011. WIRE CASING IS MELTED. KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM/SATURN. *TT
THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM LAMP FAILED ON DECEMBER 13, 2010. I REPLACED THE LAMP WITH A NEW ONE. ON FEBRUARY 6 WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT I NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. SINCE THE LAMP WAS NEW I CHECKED TO INSURE IT WAS SEATED AND IT WAS. THE LAMP CONTINUED TO DO SO UNTIL FEBRUARY 17TH WHEN IT WENT OUT COMPLETELY. UPON CHECKING THE LAMP AGAIN I FOUND THAT THE INSULATION ON THE WIRES AT THE BASE OF THE SOCKET HAD MELTED AND ONE OF THE WIRES WAS BROKEN. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. *TR

MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK LOST BOTH HEADLIGHTS IN DECEMBER 2010 WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS OF EACH OTHER. THE DEALER INFORMED US THE BULBS HAD BURNED OUT AND WHEN THEY BURNED OUT THEY BURNED/CORRODED THE WIRING HARNESSES CONNECTED TO THEM, NECESSITATING A $200 REPAIR. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, IN NOVEMBER 2011, THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON NOVEMBER 4, 2011, THEY INFORMED US THE BULB HAD BURNED OUT AND THE HARNESS HAD BURNED OUT AGAIN, AND SAID THE REPAIR WOULD BE MORE THAN $200. WE HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM DOCUMENTED BY MANY SATURN OWNERS ON SATURN FAN SITES, AND ALSO READ TO CONTACT NHTSA TO NOTIFY YOU OF THIS COMMON AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE SATURN OUTLOOK SO THAT YOU COULD CONSIDER ORDERING GM TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES. I HOPE YOU WILL ORDER A RECALL AND ORDER GM TO SOLVE AN UNNECESSARY DESIGN PROBLEM THAT IS A NUISANCE AT BEST AND COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A FIRE OR LOST VISIBILITY THAT COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTS AT WORST. THE PASSENGER HEADLAMP STOPPED WORKING. WE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS BECAUSE THE WIRE AND SOCKET MELTED AND BURNED. I'M RELIEVED THAT IT HAS NOT CAUSED A MAJOR VEHICLE FIRE. 40,000 MILES. *TR
I HAVE REPLACED THE LOW BEAM LIGHT IN MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK TWICE IN THE PAST MONTH AND IT'S OUT AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS MATTER ONLINE, I NOW SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I FEEL THAT GM NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THESE COMPLAINTS IMMEDIATELY AND ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS MATTER BEFORE THIS CAUSES SOMEONE TO GET HURT OR KILLED. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHT WIRING AND CONNECTORS IN MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. CHANGED THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP 3 TIMES, LAST TWO BULBS ONLY LAST A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE WIRING BURNS THROUGH. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE LIGHT BULB BURNED OUT. AFTER INVESTIGATION, THE WIRE BUNDLE TO THE LIGHT OVERHEATED/BURNT AND MELTED, RESULTING IN THE HALOGEN BULB FAILURE. UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THE SAME ISSUE, WHICH REPEATS ITSELF, EVEN AFTER THE DEALER REPLACES THE WIRING HARNESS. THE WIRING HARNESS IS PLASTIC, UNDER-ENGINEERED AND REPEATEDLY FAILS. THIS ITEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPACED WITH A METAL WIRING HARNESS. REFERENCE SATURN' S TSB #09-08-42-004. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
DRIVER'S SIDE WIRING HARNESS MELTED ON HEADLIGHT, SATURN OUTLOOK 2008. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT OUT ON THE 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. WENT OUT ONE DAY, A FEW DAYS LATER STARTED WORKING AGAIN. NOW IS OUT FOR GOOD ON "LOW BEAM" WILL WORK FOR "HIGH BEAMS". *LN
MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT TURNED OFF AROUND 11/12/10, THE BULB WAS REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME HEADLIGHT TURNED OFF AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $285 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DON'T THINK THAT ITS RIGHT TO MAKE US PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS COMPLETELY FAULTY. THIS IS REALLY SERIOUS AND CAN CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BECAME INOPERATIVE, WIRE HARNESS REPLACED DUE TO REPAIR DESCRIPTION OF "MELTING". NO INCIDENT FOR APPROX 9 MONTHS. DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BECOMES INOPERATIVE INTERMITTENTLY DURING DRIVING. HAND ADJUSTMENT OF WIRE HARNESS TEMPORARILY ALLOWS HEADLIGHT TO FUNCTION. PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BEGINS TO FAIL IN SAME INTERMITTENT WAY AS DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT. LOSS OF HEADLIGHT WHILE DRIVING, DRIVING BECOMES HAZARDOUS. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 35000 MILES, THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP STOPPED LIGHTING. I ASSUMED THAT THE HEADLAMP HAD BLOWN, AND LEFT IT ALONE UNTIL MY STATE INSPECTION WAS DUE, 2 MONTHS LATER. WHEN I FINALLY ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE BULB, I LEARNED THAT THE BULB WAS FINE, BUT THE HARNESS HAD FAILED, AND MY 36000 MILE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED.CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP HAD MELTED, WHERE THE WIRES ENTER INTO THE LAMP BASE, AND ARE HELD INTO THE BASE WITH A POURED PLASTIC "BACKLIGHT" TYPE SEALER, LIKE THE TYPE SEEN POURED OVER CIRCUIT BOARDS, TO PREVENT TAMPERING. I ACCESSED THAT SOCKET, AND CUT THE FACTORY SOCKET OFF OF THE WIRE HARNESS. I REPLACED THE SOCKET WITH ONE THAT I PURCHASED ONLINE, WHICH WAS OF A MUCH HEAVIER GAUGE THAN THE INFERIOR GAUGE OF WIRE THAT CAME FROM THE FACTORY. IT IS NOW 1 YEAR LATER, AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAS OCCURRED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WHEN I HOLD THE FACTORY LAMP SOCKET IN MY HAND, AND BEND THE WIRES AT THE SOCKET BASE, THE BULB WORKS ONLY INTERMITTENTLY, AS IF THE COPPER WIRE INSIDE THE INSULATION HAS DEGRADED SO SEVERELY THAT A GOOD CONTACT CAN NO LONGER BE MAINTAINED. I HAVE NOT YET ORDERED A REPLACEMENT SOCKET FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AND DREAD THE LABOR THAT IS INVOLVED IN REMOVING THE TIRE, DROPPING THE FENDER COWL, CUTTING THE FACTORY HARNESS AWAY FROM THE FACTORY LAMP BASE, AND REWIRING THE NEW LAMP BASE TO THE FACTORY HARNESS.IT IS LABOR INTENSIVE, AND IT IS DANGEROUS. IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THE HEAT BUILD UP FROM THE BULB, IN COMBINATION WITH THE UNDERSIZED WIRING ENTERING THE BASE, HAS CREATED A MELT HAZARD, WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY ALLOWS MOISTURE INTO THE COPPER STRAND WIRE, ALLOWING THE COPPER TO CORRODE SIGNIFICANTLY, AND ULTIMATELY THE COPPER DISINTEGRATES COMPLETELY, LOSING ITS CONNECTION ALTOGETHER. *TR
MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT TURNED OFF AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES, THE BULB WAS REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME HEADLIGHT TURNED OFF AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD REPLACE THE FAULTY WIRE HARNESS. NOW MY CAR IS AT ABOUT 57,000 MILES, NO WARRANTY AND MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS TURNING OFF. I CALLED THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $100 JUST TO LOOK AT IT AND THEN PAY FOR WHATEVER NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DON'T THINK THAT ITS RIGHT TO MAKE US PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS COMPLETELY FAULTY. THIS IS REALLY SERIOUS AND CAN CAUSE AND ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DRIVER-SIDE HEADLIGHT USED TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER A WHILE, THE PRIMARY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT NO LONGER WORKS, ALTHOUGH THE HIGH-BEAMS STILL DO. NO PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT I HAVE READ OF IDENTICAL ISSUES WITH OTHER OUTLOOK OWNERS AND THE FAULTY WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEADLAMPS. *TR
HEADLIGHT NOT WORKING DUE TO WIRING HARNESS BEING MELTED!!! TOO MUCH HEAT OR THE WIRING HARNESS DOESN'T USE THE RIGHT WIRE. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 18 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS 4 TIMES NOW. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE SOMEONE TO HAVE A CRASH. IF IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NIGHT. *TR
PASSENGER LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON THE 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AT 48,000 MILES. I REPLACED IT AND THE BULB BLEW OUT AGAIN ONLY TWO WEEKS LATER. I THEN DISCOVERED THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. REPLACEMENT BULBS CONTINUE TO BLOW BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK, DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP NOT FUNCTIONING. DEALERSHIP NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BULB AND HARNESS. CONNECTION WHERE THE BULB CONNECTS TO THE HARNESS APPEARS MELTED / BURNED. VEHICLE HAS 40242 MILES AND 26 MONTHS SINCE DELIVERY WAS TAKEN. COST FOR REPAIR WAS $273.15 ON 10/25/10. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. *TR
ONE EVENING WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN HOME FROM AN EVENT, WE SMELLED A TOXIC BURNING TYPE SMELL. WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME, I SAW THAT THE FRONT HEADLAMP WAS OUT (A BIT SURPRISING FOR A 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE). THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WAS BURNED. A BIT FRIGHTENING AND NOT TRO MENTION COSTLY. ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS 2 YEARS OLD, IT HAS JUST ABOVE 36,000 MILES AND THUS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY FAULT FOR NOT GETTING TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE MILEAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST BELOW THE 36,000 MILE MARK. *TR

2008 SATURN OUTLOOK DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT DARK DUE TO EXPOSED WIRES IN THE WIRE HARNESS NEAR THE BULB SOCKET. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XE. HARNESS TO BOTH HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAM) HAS MELTED WHICH NOW I HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS. *TR
THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS ATTACHMENT TO THE LIGHT BULB HAS BURNED ON BOTH SIDES OF MY VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE LIGHT TO GO OUT AND MELT THE INSULATION NEAR THE COUPLING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR AT A STOP LIGHT THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WOULD SHUT OFF AND HE WAS UNABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEADLIGHT WIRING AND SOCKET MELTED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WIRING AND SOCKET WERE REPLACED. THE LEFT HEADLIGHT HAD ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT. THE LEFT HEADLIGHT HAS YET TO BE INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. ANOTHER FOR THE LOW BEAM CONNECTOR MELTING -- PERHAPS A LITTLE MORE AGGRESSIVELY THAN SOME. AT 73K REPLACED DRIVER SIDE H11 LOW BEAM BULB. COULDN'T GET LIGHT TO STAY ON. NOTICED PARTIALLY MELTED CONNECTOR. APPLIED A LITTLE ELECTRICAL GREASE. WORKED FOR A FEW HOURS. DAYS LATER (AFTER VACATION) APPLIED MORE ELECTRICAL GREASE. STARTED WORKING AGAIN. CLOSED UP THE WHEEL WELL. AS I GET UP FROM THE WHEEL WELL ON THE DRIVER SIDE I SEE SMOKE FROM THE *PASSENGER* SIDE HEADLAMP AREA AND LIGHT FOGGING OF THE TOP OF THE LENS. I HAVEN'T TOUCHED THE PASSENGER SIDE! IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL WORKING HEADLAMP AND CONNECTOR. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I WILL BE TAKING OUR 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK IN FOR THE 5TH TIME, YES I SAID 5TH TIME, TO GET THE HEADLIGHT FIXED. THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS HAD A BULB REPLACED AS WELL AS THE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED...SAME WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE OWNED IT LESS THAN A YEAR. WE ARE LUCKY THAT OUR DEALERSHIP IS TAKING PITY ON US, AND FIXING IT FOR FREE BECAUSE OUR WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED. PLEASE RECALL THIS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED! *TR
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR AND THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT HEADLIGHT HARNESS MELTED DUE TO OVERHEATING LIKELY CAUSED BY THE VERY SMALL GAUGE OF WIRE THEY USED IN THIS HARNESS. THIS OCCURRED ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 38000 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THE PART FROM THE DEALER, WHICH HAD A LARGER GAUGE WIRE, AND CRIMPED IT INTO PLACE. THIS WAS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE TO NO ROOM AROUND THE HEADLIGHT. MOST INTERNET FORUMS SUGGESTED THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER MUST BE REMOVED FOR THIS FIX. I DID FIND A WAY TO DO IT WITHOUT REMOVING THE BUMPER, BUT I DOUBT THAT THIS COULD BE DONE BY MOST PEOPLE WITHOUT REMOVING THE BUMPER. *TR

2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR HEADLIGHT WIRE HARNESS HAS NOW BURNED OUT ON BOTH MY HEADLIGHTS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE IT'S ENGINE COMPARTMENT CATCH ON FIRE. *TR
WIRE HARNESS MELTED JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSES. DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM. *TR
HEAD LIGHT ON MY SATURN OUTLOOK CONTINUOUSLY BURNS OUT ITS A 2008 AND I'VE REPLACED BOTH TWICE. THE WIRING APPEARS MELTED AND BURNT. *TR
DAYTIME RUNNING HEADLIGHTS AND NIGHT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. LUCKY FOR ME I HAVE AUXILIARY LIGHTING TO USE. RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT QUIT WORKING ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND FOUND THE WIRING CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. REMOVED CONNECTOR AND MADE A NEW ONE. NOW BOTH LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING AND NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. OUT OF WARRANTY NOW AND WILL PAY. SOMETHING DOESN'T MATCH UP AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING IS A MAJOR CONCERN OF MINE AND PROBABLY ANY OTHER OUTLOOK OWNER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD FUNCTION BUT NOT THE LOW BEAMS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT BULBS HERSELF AND NOTICED THAT EACH WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WIRING HARNESSES WERE BEING REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
