LOW BEAM CONTINUES TO GO OUT AND THERE IS A CONTINUAL SMELL OF BURNING WIRES IN MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE WIRING HARNESS HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS BURNT. *TR
DRIVING SOUTH ON INTERSTATE 77 IN OHIO THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. LUCKILY IT WAS IN AN AREA THAT HAD SOME LIGHTING THAT GAVE ME TIME TO REACT DUE TO THERE BEING HEAVY TRAFFIC BEHIND ME THAT MAY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP CAUSING A FAIRLY LARGE ACCIDENT. HAVING TO DRIVE HOME WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON THE REMAINING 60 MILES TO HOME AND THEN INSPECTING THE BULBS WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I NOTICED THAT THE HARNESSES WERE MELTED NEAR THE CONNECTORS. I INSPECTED THE BULBS AND THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BULBS AND NOT HIGH WATTAGE REPLACEMENTS THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED A DEVIATION FROM WHAT THE HARNESSES WERE INTENDED FOR. *TR
PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, AND WIRING WAS FOUND TO BE MELTED, REPAIRED AND NOW 4 MONTHS LATER THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT IS NOW AGAIN OUT. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AFTER MULTIPLE FAILURES,, AND NOW WONDERING IF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE AS IT COULD CATCH FIRE( WIRES GETTING HOT ENOUGH TO MEL IN TO) ='S NOT SAFE ,, THANKS GM *TR
ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT THEN AFTER BEING REPLACED WENT OUT AGAIN ABOUT A MONTH LATER COME TO FIND OUT THE WIRING BURNED OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING AND PULLED OVER FOR THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BEING OUT. I HAD THE LIGHT REPLACED ONLY FOR IT TO GO OUT A FEW MONTHS LATER AND ALSO AT THIS TIME TOLD THE WIRING MELTED AND I HAD TO GET THE WHOLE THING REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE I DRIVE WITH KIDS IN MY CAR AND IF THIS EVER HAPPENED TO BOTH LIGHTS AT NIGHT I DON'T WANT TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
LOW BEAM DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLAMP ON SATURN OUTLOOK. BULB APPEARED TO FAIL BUT ON FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE WIRING HARNESS IT WAS MELTED AT THE CONNECTOR. THIS HAPPENED IN JAN/FEB OF 2011 AND NOW (JUL) THE PASSENGER SIDE IS OUT. REPLACED THE LIGHT BULB INITIALLY ON BOTH ONLY TO HAVE IT CONTINUOUSLY GO OUT. INSPECTING WIRING HARNESS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LATER TODAY. THIS CLEARLY APPEARS TO BE A FIRE HAZARD. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THERE WAS RAIN, WATER WOULD LEAK THROUGH THE CLOSED SUN ROOF AND ONTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE SUN ROOF MODULE AND A SECOND UNKNOWN PART WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
ELECTRICAL FAILURE- THE HEADLIGHTS OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY AND PRODUCES A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS TICKETED IN MARCH FOR NO HEADLIGHTS THEN 3 DAYS LATER IT STARTED WORKING. NOW 2 DAYS AGO IT WENT OUT AGAIN. PRIOR TO THIS, I INFORMED THE DEALER THAT OUR RADIO AND DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY AS WELL BUT THEY COULD NOT TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM AT THE TIME, AS IF WORKED WELL. IT APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH GM CARS AND WE NEED AN INTERVENTION. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK IN FEBRUARY OF 2011. MY PASSENGER HEADLAMP (LOW BEAM) ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR TO THE BULB MELTED AND CAUSED A SPARKS TO COME OUT TO THE HEADLAMP PROTECTOR..ALSO DAMAGING IT.. *TR
I OWN A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS GONE OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT AND THE WIRING HARNESS IS MOST LIKELY BURNED OUT AND MELTED AS MANY OTHER 08' SATURN OUTLOOK'S HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DO. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DOCUMENTED CASES WHERE FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRING HAVE BEEN KNOW TO CAUSE VEHICLE FIRES. THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CREATE FIRE, PROPERTY DAMAGE OR INJURY IN ORDER TO INITIATE A RECALL GIVEN THE HISTORY OF KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRING. *TR
WATER HAS BEEN LEAKING IN MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK FOR OVER 2 YEARS. IT ORIGINALLY STARTED LEAKING IN THROUGH MY LIGHTS AND MORE RECENTLY HAS STARTED TO LEAK IN THROUGH THE AIR BAG COVERS WHICH CAUSED THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT TO COME ON. I AM FEARFUL ABOUT THE AIRBAGS WORKING PROPERLY WITH POSSIBLE WATER DAMAGE. I HAVE SPENT THE LAST HOUR ONLINE READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD NO RESOLUTION IN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FIXED. GM NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE THE VEHICLES RECALLED AND FIXED. *TR
THE WIRE HARNESS FOR THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAS MELTED. IT IS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE WIRES AND THE PLUG APPEAR TO BE INSUFFICIENT FOR THE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY FLOWING THROUGH THEM. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. LOW BEAM LIGHT WENT OUT. WENT TO HAVE BULB REPLACED, FOUND OUT IT WAS FAULTY WIRING, BULB IS FINE. ONE DAY THE LIGHT IS ON, THE NEXT DAY, THE LIGHT DOESN'T WORK. *TR
DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP WENT OUT PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO INFORMED US IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE HEADLAMP HARNESS NOT BULB. HARNESS WAS MELTED AND SCORCHED. ORDERED NEW "IMPROVED" HARNESS AND REPLACED. PASSENGER SIDE HARNESS EXPERIENCED SAME FAILURE ORDERED NEW "IMPROVED" HARNESS AND REPLACED IN JULY. ALL REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT COST WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY FOR ALL OUT OF POCKET COSTS. ON OCTOBER 3RD PASSENGER SIDE HARNESS BURNED OUT AGAIN. HAVE TO PURCHASE NEW PART AND REPLACE FOR THE 3RD TIME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IT IF HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE FACT THAT HARNESS IS SCORCHED AND MELTING ALSO CONCERNS ME. I AM AFRAID OF THE RISK POSED TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AS WE USE THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT OUR 2 YOUNG CHILDREN DAILY. *TR
BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM NOT WORKING, HAVE BEEN ON A FEW OCCASIONS TO MAKE IT WORK CYCLING LIGHT SWITCH AND NOW THAT DOES NOT HELP EITHER. WAS RESEARCHING WAYS TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR AND MY SISTER INLAW ALSO HAS A SATURN OUTLOOK AND WAS TELLING ME HERS ENDED UP BEING THE HARNESS, AND AFTER SEEING ALL THE THREADS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF OTHER SATURNS I THINK I WILL BE TAKING MY WIFE'S CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOK AT FOR SAFETY REASONS. *TR
THE FAILURE THAT OCCURRED IN MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK WAS A FAULTY DRIVER'S SIDE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE HEADLIGHT, WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT BEING INOPERABLE. THIS OCCURRED ON MAY 8TH, 2011 AND WAS CONTINUOUS. I HAD THE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED AT MY COST DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE OF ONLY DRIVING WITH ONE WORKING HEADLIGHT AT NIGHT AS WELL AS THE FACT IT'S AGAINST THE LAW IN THE STATE OF OHIO. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS TRAVELING TO CANADA AND DID NOT WANT TO RISK THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRASH OR COLLISION WITH AN ANIMAL DUE TO THE FAULTY LIGHT. I PAID OUT OF POCKET OVER $270 FOR THE NECESSARY REPAIRS INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR (THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE). GM PUBLISHED A BULLETIN REGARDING THIS ISSUE: (#09-08-42-004: LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULB INOPERATIVE - REPLACE HARNESS AND FILL CONNECTOR CAVITY FOR LOW BEAM BULB CONNECTOR WITH NYOGEL GREASE MAY 29, 2009) THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK - HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS MELTED. *TR
MELTING / ELECTRICAL FIRE IN HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS AND PRE-MATURE HEADLIGHT BULB FAILURE. *TR
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS AND BULB CONNECTION MELTED CAUSING LOSS OF HEADLIGHTS.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO PURCHASE THE HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE TWO DIFFERENT HEADLIGHTS THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING THE BROKEN ONE SO THEY CAN SELL ME A REPLACEMENT. I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS NOT VERY EASY TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ON THIS VEHICLE AS SEVERAL OTHER PARTS HAVE TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO GET TO THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR. I FOUND INSTRUCTIONS AND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS INDICATING THEY HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE YEAR ONLY TO BE TOLD BY DEALERS THAT THE HARNESS/CONNECTOR ARE BURNED AND THAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE UNDERLINER OF THE TIRE TO GET TO THE HEADLIGHT ON MY VEHICLE. AS SUSPECTED, THE CONNECTOR AND WIRE HARNESS WERE BURNED. I FOUND SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS INSTRUCTING DEALERS TO "CHECK AND REPLACE" THE HARNESS AND HEADLIGHT ON THESE VEHICLES. WHEN I CALLED SATURN I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT IN MY VEHICLE ON APRIL 2011...HOWEVER THEY NEVER INFORMED ME OF THIS CHANGE. RIGHT NOW MY WIFE IS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT A HEADLIGHT AS SATURN IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE BURNED HARNESS THAT I FOUND ON THE CAR. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT A FIRE HAZARD ON THE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL BY NOW....IT IS NOT JUST HAPPENING ON SATURN OUTLOOKS, IT IS ALSO HAPPENING ON GMC ACADIAS WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME CAR..... *TR
DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM BULB STOPPED WORKING...AND WOULD NOT WORK AFTER MULTIPLE ON-OFF CYCLES AND RESTARTS. WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE THE BULB I NOTICED THE HARNESS WAS MELTED AT THE BULB CONNECTOR. I WAS ABLE TO CLEAN OUT THE MELTED PLASTIC AND BULB WORKED, BUT HAVE TO REPLACE HARNESS DUE TO MELTED AND EXPOSED WIRES. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. WHEN GOING TO REPLACE THE HEADLAMP BULB ALL OF THE WIRES HAVE MELTED. NOW I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ONE DUE TO THE FACT MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. THANKFULLY THE CAR DID NOT BURN UP DUE TO THE FACT ON WAS ON A TWELVE HOUR DRIVE WITH MY FAMILY. *TR
I OWN A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AND THE LOW BEAM LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT OUT, I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER TO REPLACE THE BULB. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT THE BULB, BUT THE HARNESS OR SLEEVE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS COST ME $799.00 THAT WAS A MONTH AGO. NOW THE OTHER SIDE HAS GONE OUT TOO. I THINK THEY WOULD DO A CALL BACK, BECAUSE I CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND COMPLAINTS. MY OUTLOOK HAD 42,000 MILES ON IT. I REALLY NEED SOME HELP IN THIS MATTER, I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO BE BAD FROM THE BEGINNING. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS OUT ON SATURN OUTLOOK. WIRING HARNESS IS MELTED. THIS HAPPENED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT A YEAR AGO. VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE AND IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW AND A HUGE DANGER AS WE ARE WITHOUT LOW BEAMS UNTIL WE CAN GET IT FIXED AND PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. PROBABLY BECAUSE EVERYONE IS HAVING A PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK (RECENTLY PURCHASED USED) HAS INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT ISSUES. THE HEADLIGHTS GO IN AND OUT WITH NO WARNING. THE SERVICE CENTER QUOTED ME OVER $600 TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY SAY IT'S A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS COMMON WITH THE SATURN OUTLOOK MODEL. NOT A BULB BURNOUT, BUT A STRUCTURAL PROBLEM THAT SATURN KNEW ABOUT. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD. I CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL LIKE GM HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF A LOT OF PEOPLE. *TR
THE LOW BEAM CONNECTION MELTED.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR IN DEC. 2010 FROM CARMAX. IT HAD ~35,000 MILES ON IT. AT ~38,500 MILES THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I REMOVED THE BULB AND FOUND THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED. I TRIED REPLACING THE BULB, BUT THE LIGHT DID NOT WORK. THE CABLE MUST BE RUINED. *TR
WE HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. HEADLIGHT ON DRIVER'S SIDE WENT OUT; PAID $117 TO HAVE FIXED; SAME LIGHT WENT OUT AND DEALER FIXED IT N/C, AND REPLACED HARNESS. NOW PASSENGER SIDE HAS GONE OUT TWICE..ON OUR WAY TO DEALER TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION. *KB
WIRING HARNESS PROVIDING POWER TO HEADLIGHT SHORTED OUT. *TR
HEADLIGHT WIRE HARNESS FAILURE. HEADLAMPS WERE BURNING OUT FREQUENTLY AND FINALLY DETERMINED THAT GM INSTALLED FAULTY LOW GAUGE WIRING. HARNESS IN MY VEHICLE WAS BURNED AND MELTED CAUSING A FIRE RISK. THE DEALER REPLACED ONE HARNESS WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE OTHER HARNESS NOW AT 64K MILES. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I HAVE 30,000 MILES ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. REPLACED THE BULB. LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN DURING 20 HOUR DRIVE HOME. TURNS OUT HARNESS IS MELTED AND THE BULB IS FINE. *TR
PASSENGER HEADLAMP HARNESS IS DEFECTIVE AND HEADLAMP DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK OF COURSE IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS JUST AFTER 50,000 MILES. THE WIRING IS EXPOSED TO THE HEADLAMP AND SHORTED OUT. *TR
IN MARCH, 2011, MY CARS LEFT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT. WHEN I CHANGED THE LIGHT, I DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. I REPLACED THE HARNESS WITH A GM PART BOUGHT AT A DEALERSHIP. LAST WEEK, THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT. AGAIN, WHEN I CHANGED THE LIGHT, I DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS ALSO HAD MELTED. THE WIRES SEEM SMALL TO ME, AND ARE SMALLER THAN THE WIRES ON THE REPLACEMENT HARNESS. *TR
WE NOTICED THAT WE WERE GETTING WATER IN THE CAR COMING FROM THE REARVIEW MIRROR. WE WERE FINDING WATER DRIPPING THROUGH SUNROOF AND GOING TO THE MUG BOX. WE NOTICED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALSO: THE HEATING/COOLING MOTOR IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR STOPPED TO WORK AND WE HAVE TO CHANGE IT. THE BUTTONS FOR REAR WIPER DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. THE WATER OVERFLOWS INTO THE CAR AND AFTER A RAINSTORM WE HAD 1.5 INCHES WATER BELOW DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS. I KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL CUSTOMERS THAT HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF DRAINS. IT IS A POOR DESIGN THAT THE SATURN CORP. *TR
HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK WHERE BOTH SIDES OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESSES ARE FAULTY AND CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION. I REPLACED THE BULB ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND IT WAS BLOWN AGAIN IN A FEW DAYS. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A WIRING HARNESS ISSUE DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED. THE CONTACT THEN SMELLED AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR AND HE CONTINUED DRIVING USING THE LOW BEAMS. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE BULB AND DISCOVERED THAT THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE HEADLIGHT WOULD NEED A REPLACEMENT WIRING HARNESS ASSEMBLY HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIRS WAS ON BACK ORDER AND NOT READILY AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,605 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,635. UPDATED 03/22/11*LJ
I HAVE REPLACED 4 HEADLAMPS IN LESS THAN 12 MONTHS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. NOW THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLS ME I NEED TO HAVE THE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED. IT IS ON ORDER AND I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR AT NIGHT FOR FEAR OF GETTING A TICKET.
PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. DASHBOARD "SERVICE AIR BAG" WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATED. FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT SHOWS 'OFF' EVEN WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT WITH THE SEATBELT ON. *TR
DRIVER WAS ON THEIR WAY TO DR APPT WITH SMALL CHILD WHEN THE CAR REVVED VERY HARD & JERKED & MAKING LOUD NOISES. I THEN WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO PARKING, ONSTAR WAS CALLED AND DIAGNOSING IT AS THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS THROWING CODES. A TOW TRUCK CAME AND TOOK THE CAR INTO CAVENDER IN SAN ANTONIO.THEY FOUND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTORS FAILED. THEY FOUND THE WATER PUMP WAS FAILING AS WELL AND REPLACED IT AS WELL. THE NEXT INCIDENT OCCURRED IN MAY OF 2012, MY HUSBAND WAS BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY & WE WERE ADVISED AFTER WE GOT SETTLED BACK IN OHIO TO HAVE IT SERVICED. IN WHICH WE DID, TO HAVE FOUND THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD A SMALL LEAK. WE TOOK IT TO GM DEALERSHIP DON'S AUTOMOTIVE AS WE HAD A FAMILY MEMBER WHO WORKED THERE. THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT, THEN NOT EVEN A MONTH WENT BY WE FOUND IT WAS LEAKING. WE THEN DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO DAVE WHITE CHEVROLET TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED RIGHT. THEY THEN FIXED IT. WE THEN HAD IT FIXED AND WERE BACK ON THE ROAD. THEN WE BEGAN TO NOTICE THE REVVING AGAIN AND IT WOULD HESITATE WHEN DRIVING CAUSING PANIC IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS FOR MY HUSBAND AND I. WE THEN TOOK IT BACK TO DAVE WHITE TO FIND THERE WAS A SPEED CONTROL SENSOR THAT WAS FAILING. WE THEN HAD TO HAVE THAT REPLACED. NOT TOO LONG AFTER, WE BEGAN TO NOTICE PINK FLUID ON THE DRIVE, WE IMMEDIATE TOOK IT BACK TO DAVE WHITE, THEY EXPLAINED IT WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID, BUT THE COUPLING WAS NOT COVERED BY POWER TRAIN. WE CONTACTED GM BECAUSE THIS SHOULD BE A COVERED PART AS IT COULD CAUSE FAILURE. THEY AGREED TO HELP WITH PAYING FOR IT, BUT DAVE WHITE WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. THEN IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, PUTTING IN REVERSE WOULD CAUSE IT TO HESITATE, TRANSMISSION WAS OUT. WE THEN HAD TO HAVE IT REBUILT. THEN FEB 2015, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS DRIVING AND WOULD NOT PASS 1ST GEAR ON BUSY ROAD. IT WAS TOWED 2/23/15 TO DEALERSHIP MCNEILS. *JS
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AROUND 24,000 MILES IN WHICH THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY. 20,000 MILES LATER THE SAME HEADLIGHT WENT OUT FOR WHICH I HAD TO PAY THE DEALER $40 TO INSTALL IT. 5,000 MILES LATER THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT STOP WORKING AND PAID THE DEALER $40 TO REPLACE IT. TWO HOURS LATER IT STOP WORKING AND HAD TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR WHICH THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW ASSEMBLY. IF GM DOESN'T FIX THIS PROBLEM THEN THEY LOST A BUYER FOR LIFE. *TR

MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK...THE LEFT HEADLAMP WOULD GO OUT AND THEN ON AND OUT,ETC. I TOOK THE SATURN TO THE SHOP WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW. IT WAS THE WIRE HARNESS THAT WAS BAD SO THEY REPLACED THIS AND ALSO REPLACED THE HEADLAMP BULB. IT COST A TOTAL OF $148.38. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE OUTLOOK AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, THEN BACK ON AND OUT AGAIN IN SAME 45 MINUTE TRIP. NEW DAY WORKED FINE FOR TWO WEEKS. NOW OUT AGAIN. WIRE HARNESS FAILURE. REQUIRES A $250-400 REPAIR FOR ONE SIDE. THE OTHER SIDE CAN FAIL AT ANYTIME DUE TO THE DESIGN AND NO DIELECTRIC GREASE. CONCERNED ABOUT ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE AS WIRES BURN WITHOUT PROPER FUSE PROTECTION. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR. THERE ARE NOW OVER 150 COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE NHTSA REGARDING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND FAILURE OF THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ON BOTH SIDES. MY PASSENGER SIDE FAILED AND WHEN REPAIRS WERE STARTED THE GM REPAIR SHOP NOTED THE WIRING HARNESS WHERE THE BULB IS INSERTED WAS BURNED (MELTED AND BLACKENED) AS IS THE CASE IN ALL THE COMPLAINTS I REVIEWED. GM ISSUED A TSB IN MAY 2009 ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM (TSB# 09-08-42-004) WHICH INCLUDED FILLING THE CONNECTOR CAVITY WITH NYOGEL GREASE AFTER REMOVING AND REPLACING THE HARNESS. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH JUST OVER 41,000 MILES. THE GM SHOP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN OTHER VEHICLES IN THIS MODEL LINE WITH THE SAME FAILURE. HOWEVER THEY HAD NO DIRECTIONS TO COVER THE REPAIRS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I CALL GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE. THAT CALL RESULTED IN AN APPARENT LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM IN SPITE OF THE NUMEROUS NHTSA COMPLAINTS AND INTERNET DISCUSSIONS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD A FAILURE OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. I CAN ALSO EXPECT THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL ALSO FAIL WHICH WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL REPAIR COST BEYOND JUST REPLACING A BURNED OUT BULB. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,612 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,911. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD FUNCTION BUT NOT THE LOW BEAMS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. THE WIRING HARNESSES WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. *TR THE CONSUMER RECEIVED AN AIR BAG RECALL NOTICE. EVEN THOUGH THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT ON, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ANYWAY. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION, THE ISSUE WAS TAKEN CARE OF. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS A SEAT MODULE AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. UPDATED 01/21/15. *JB
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON DRIVER'S SIDE KEEPS BURNING OUT. I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED 3 TIMES ALL WITHIN 2-4 WEEKS OF EACH OTHER. THE PROBLEM IS YET TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSED. *TR
FAILURE IS HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. THERE IS NO INDICATION OF THE HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT THEY JUST GO OUT COMPLETELY. BOTH LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENTS WE'RE CAUSED BY THIS ISSUE. I CONTACTED GM TODAY TO ADVISE I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPAIRED THEY INFORMED ME THIS IS ONLY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HEADLIGHT OF 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK KEEPS GOING OUT. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP AND THEY SIDE IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. IT IS GOING TO COST A FORTUNE TO GET THIS FIXED. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS. THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. *TR
UPON NOTICING A HEADLIGHT OUT ON MY WIFE'S 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK, IT WAS NOTED UPON DISASSEMBLY OF THE HEADLIGHT THAT THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT MELTING DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE HID HEADLIGHT FIXTURE. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CHARRED AND BLACKENED IN THE AREA OF THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY. IT APPEARS THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT HEAT/ARCING DURING THE FAILURE EVENT. THE DAMAGED WIRING HARNESS CAUSED THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT TO BECOME NON FUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 50000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS THE FIRST SUCH FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE, HOWEVER, UPON READING VARIOUS ONLINE POSTINGS ABOUT THIS MATTER, IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON FAILURE MODE IN THESE MODEL VEHICLES. THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY DUE TO HEAT DAMAGE TO THE HEADLIGHT LAMP WIRING CONNECTOR. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO BEING THROWN AWAY. *TR
