DISCOVERED THE DRIVERS SIDE HARNESS HAD MELTED WHEN CHANGING THE DIM HEADLAMP. *TR
HEADLAMP FAILED, WIRING MELTED. NEXT TIME THE CAR MAY GO UP IN FLAMES. DANGEROUS!!!!! *TR
THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION FAILED AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. I COASTED TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PUSHED, THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, TO A GAS STATION. IT WAS LATER TOWED TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR FOR THE AIRBAG INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT A PERSON IS SITTING THERE. IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAS OCCURRED RANDOMLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I SEE ANOTHER COMPLAINT FOR THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS FOUND MELTED DURING HID LAMP REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. IT APPEARS THE MELTED WIRE WAS DUE TO A DESIGN\MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THAT THE WIRING GOING TO THE HID HEADLAMP NEEDS TO BE MADE FROM A LARGER GAUGE. ALSO, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SLACK IN THE BULB ASSEMBLY TO EASILY REPLACE THE BULB. *TT
THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE EARLY EVENING, REDUCING MY VISABILITY AND THE ABILITY FOR OTHERS TO SEE MY VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, IT WASN'T NIGHT YET AND I WAS STILL ABLE TO NAVIGATE HOME, HOWEVER HAD IT BEEN JUST AN HOUR LATER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DARK AND SIGINIFICANTLY MORE UNSAFE FOR THIS INCIDENT TO HAVE OCCURRED. THE WIRING HARNESS IS A KNOWN DEFECT BY GM AND STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REMEDY IT. THIS CAN CREATE UNSAFE ROAD CONDITIONS FOR SATURN OUTLOOK DRIVERS. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER TWENTY MINUTES AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE COMPUTER MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,712.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS 4 TIMES IN 5 YEARS BECAUSE THE WIRING MELTS. *TR
MAJOR SUNROOF LEAK. WHENEVER IT RAIN I HAVE A STEADY STREAM OF WATER LEAKING INTO THE CAR AND CREATING A PUDDLE OF STANDING WATER ON MY PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD. HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE WITH HENDRICK CHEVROLET AND THEY ARE ADMIT THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY THE REPAIRS. *KB
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP FAILED. I PURCHASED A NEW LAMP WITH A DIRECT REPLACEMENT, SAME WATTAGE AND TYPE. DURING REPLACEMENT, I NOTICED THAT THE CONNECTOR WAS DISCOLORED AND PLASTIC WAS STARTING TO MELT. I CLEANED THE CONNECTOR AND REPLACED THE LAMP. TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME LAMP FAILED. THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED FURTHER, RENDERING IT UNUSABLE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY. THE WIRE IS VERY THIN AND I HAVE READ OTHER REPORTS THAT THE WIRES HAD MELTED. *TR
UPON INSPECTION, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER FRONT HEAD LAMP WAS INOPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED AND CAUSED THE BULB TO FAIL. HE THEN ADDED THAT THE OTHER HEAD LAMP WOULD SOON FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AN EXPENSE OF$ 360.00. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. *TR
PROMPTED TO SEND THIS COMPLAINT AFTER THE RECENT SUZUKI AIR BAG RECALL: THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" (SIR, FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG) PROMPT APPEARS ON THE DASH FREQUENTLY AND THEN DISAPPEARING OR UNTIL WE GET NOTIFICATION FROM OUR ONSTAR MONTHLY DIAGNOSTIC REPORT THAT THE CONDITION REQUIRES OUR ATTENTION. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN 2011 (PURCHASED CERTIFIED USED), WHICH WE ASSUMED HAD BEEN CORRECTED (HISTORY CODE B0021 OD) BUT CONTINUES TO THIS VERY DAY. WE ADVISED THE DEALER AFTER SUBSEQUENT AND FREQUENT SERVICE CALLS AND WERE FINALLY TOLD BY THE DEALER, AFTER THE DEALER CONSULTED WITH THE FACTORY, THAT THIS CONDITION CAN BE RECTIFIED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,500.00 SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOW OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. I WROTE TO GM TO BRING TO THEIR ATTENTION THAT THIS WAS NOT A MECHANICAL ISSUE BUT A SAFETY ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER A NO CHARGE FIX UNTIL WE PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I ALSO INFORMED THE GM REPRESENTATIVE THAT APPARENTLY THIS AIR BAG SYSTEM DEFECT IS NOT AN ISOLATED ONE SINCE I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SIR ALERT ON SEVERAL SATURN BLOGS OFF THE INTERNET. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW A MANUFACTURER COULD TOTALLY IGNORE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY OR DEATH IF THERE IS A FAILURE OF THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY OR EVEN DEPLOY ACCIDENTALLY. *TR
HEAD LIGHT HAS BURNED OUT, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS FAULTY WIRING IN THE ASSEMBLY. *TR
THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AND WAS REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER THE SAME LIGHT BURNED OUT. THIS TIME ALL THE WIRING WAS PULLED OUT AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. LOOKING ON ONLINE IT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE A BIG PROBLEM. AS I AM DRIVING MY 3 CHILDREN AROUND, I WOULD LIKE MY HEADLIGHTS TO WORK AND NOT BE MELTING IN MY CAR. PLEASE HAVE GMC FIX THIS PROBLEM. A CAR THAT COST AS MUCH AS MINE SHOULD HAVE WORKING LIGHTS AND NON-MELTING PARTS. *TR
MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT DOENS'T WORK REPLACE HEADLIGHT (NOT AN EASY TASK) STILL DIDN'T WORK. CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID WOULD HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE BUMPER TO REPLACE THE LIGHT. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHOULD NEED TO TAKE THE CAR TO DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF A LIGHT. HAVE READ ABOUT THE SME PROBLEMS PEOPLE SRE HAVING WITH THERE LIGHTS. THE HARNESS APPARENTLY BURNED OUT AND NOW IT WILL COST A SMALL FORTUNE TO GET FIXED SINCE I'M OUT OF WARRANTEE. PLEASE LOOK INTO IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THE LIGHT TO GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, BOUGHT A NEW BULB AND WENT TO CHANGE IT AND REALIZED THE WIRING HARNESS IS MELTED. CALLED THE "AUTHORIZED" SATURN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS FAIRLY COMMON (WHAT!!!!) AND THAT IT WOULD COST APPROX. $700.00 TO REPAIR. AFTER SOME ON-LINE RESEARCH, FOUND ALOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FACTORY WARRANTY THAT WOULD COVER THIS RAN OUT 4 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS AND DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO SPEND ON A SIMPLE HEADLIGHT. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FIRE HAZARD OF MELTING WIRES AND PEOPLE DRIVING WITH ONLY 1 OR NO HEADLIGHTS. WHO KNOWS HOW LONG I HAVE TILL THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES THE SAME THING. *TR
IN EARLY SEPTEMBER, MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. UPON INSPECTION BY A LOCAL MECHANIC, THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. I UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL OTHER SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. ELECTRICAL TAPE WAS APPLIED AND A NEW BULB WAS INSTALLED. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. *TR
WE OWN TWO 2008 SATURN OUTLOOKS. BOTH HAD HEADLIGHT FAILURES IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. BOTH HAD THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP THE HEADLIGHTS (NON-BRIGHTS) ON BOTH ARE FAILING, AND IT IS NOT THE BULBS. MECHANIC "JIGGLES" THE WIRES AND HEADLIGHTS COME ON ONLY TO FAIL LESS THAN A WEEK LATER. NUMEROUS ONLINE SEARCHES SHOW THE HARNESS TO BE AT FAULT, WITH INDICATIONS THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN RE-ENGINEERING TO ADDRESS THE KNOWN DEFECT. *TR
RIGHT HEADLIGHT WOULD WORK SOMETIMES AND OTHERS NOT. TOOK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE REPAIRED AND WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER. DEALERSHIP TRIED TO CHARGE ME 300 JUST TO REPLACE THE HARNESS. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY CAR IS PARKED FOR NOW AND HUBBY WILL BE REPLACING HIS SELF. HARNESS COST $25. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT. WE PURCHASED A NEW BULB, WHEN MY HUSBAND WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB HE FOUND A WIRE EXPOSED AND THE PLUG IN WAS BURNT. THE SOCKET IS THE CAUSE SO NOW WE HAVE TO BUY A NEW SOCKET. I THINK THIS DANGEROUS, IT LOOKS AS IF IT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE. *TT
ON 8/26/2011, I REPLACED MY DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB AND NOTICED A BURNT WIRE SMELL BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING VISUALLY, APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER I NOTICED THAT MY LIGHT WAS OUT AGAIN THE NEXT DAY I BOUGHT A NEW BULB. I STARTED THE PROCESS OF CHANGING OUT THE BULB BUT NOTICED IT WAS BACK ON SO I STOPPED. A FEW DAYS LATER THE BULB WAS OUT AGAIN SO I CHANGED THE BULB AND NOTICED THAT THE BURNT SMELL WAS VERY BAD AND THE PLUG ON THE WIRE HARNESS AND THE WIRE INSULATION HAD MELTED. MY SATURN OUTLOOK ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. GOT A REPLACEMENT BULB FROM DEALERSHIP - CHANGED IT - AND THE LIGHT WAS OUT AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF. WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP TO BUY ANOTHER BULB AND WHEN SWITCHING IT OUT - NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. LOOKED ONLINE ONLY TO FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED - AS THE DANGER OF A FIRE IS A HIGH RISK AND HAVING WORKING HEADLIGHTS IS THE LAW. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS MELTED ON DRIVERS SIDE (3RD TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING FOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS WAS MELTED. AS A RESULT, THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT FUNCTION AT NIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A SPEED SENSOR WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION AND AN EXTERIOR LIGHTING ASSEMBLY WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE WIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

8/17/2011 - J0511 HEAD,CYLINDER LEFT BANK REPLACED AS THERE WAS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN CAMSHAFTS R & R MOTOR ASSY REPLACE BANK 2 CYLINDER HEAD AND NEW TIMING CHAIN RE-INSTALLED. 01/11/2012 - 3-5 REVERSE CLUTCH PLATE REPLACED TRANSMISSION SLIPPING INTO 3RD GEAR,TRANSMISSION REBUILT. 02/20/2012 LEAK WAS FOUND IN FRONT TRANSMISSION CONNECTOR AREA, SEAL WAS REPLACED & RECHECKED. ON 12/01/2012 TRUCK GOING BACK INTO SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION LEAK AGAIN AND CLUNKING NOISE. GM NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION, THEY NEED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND GO AHEAD AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AND FELT LIKE AS IF IT WERE STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,088.
COULD NOT SHIFT TO NEXT GEAR AND THE CAR JUMPS/SHAKES WHEN SHIFTING. GOING ON 3RD REPAIR, ITS JUST COSTING ME TO MUCH MONEY TO FIX AND STILL NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR...
LOW BEAM HEADLAMP CONNECTOR MELTED
COMPLETE LOSS OF LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS UNDER SIMILAR OR IDENTICAL CIRCUMSTANCES AS OTHER VOQS AND VARIOUS WEBSITES FORUMS. INSPECTION REVEALED MELTED WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS INSIDE THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY AT THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULB. VEHICLE DATE OF MANUFACTURE 10-2007. NO KNOWN BODY WORK. PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR IS NOT MELTED AS BAD AS THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR. APPEARS TO BE COMING PREDOMINANTLY FROM THE BLACK WIRE GOING INTO THE CONNECTOR. ALL INSULATION IS MELTED AWAY. CONNECTOR MELTED AND BRITTLE THAT IT FELL APART REMOVING THE BULB. BULB PART # APPEARS TO BE H11, 12V 55W U 64211 L+DOT. OSRAM. GERMANY E1 25S. W0 Q3. DRIVER HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY CASTING DATE SEPTEMBER 2007. PART NUMBER 25876413, WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN SUPERSEDED. APPEARS MANUFACTURED UNDER AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING WITH NUMBER LH HAL 6143101907C2824. THE INSIDE CONNECTOR AREA OF THE BULB ITSELF ALSO APPEARS MELTED. THE BULB IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY IS STILL IN USE ON THE VEHICLE AFTER RECEIVING A PIGTAIL SPLICE REPAIR AND NEW BULB. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP IS NOW WORKING AND HAS RECEIVED NO REPAIRS. I HAVE 130,000 MILES ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT WIRE HARNESSES ON BOTH SIDES AND MULTIPLE LIGHT BULBS. THE MOST RECENT TIME I REPLACED THE LIGHTBULB ~30 DAYS AGO AND IT IS BURNT OUT ALREADY. *KB
RIGHT HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM CONNECTION HAS MELTED. WAS ABLE TO REMOVE BULB, BUT BADLY BURNT, CAN NOT REPLACE LAMP. *TR
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT NOT WORKING ON THE 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT, SO I'M QUITE SURPRISED THAT IT HAS ALREADY STOPPED WORKING. I'VE READ ON OTHER WEBSITES THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESS BEING FAULTY AND MELTING. THIS CONCERNS ME DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS LIGHTBULB AND WIRING HARNESS IS NOT AN EASY PART TO REPLACE. *TR
THE RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT OF OUR 2008 OUTLOOK WENT OUT. I REPLACED IT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME WHEN I LOOKED AT THE SOCKET INTO WHICH THE BULB WAS TO SIT, I NOTICED IT WAS MELTED AND BURNED. *TR
VEHICLE HEADLIGHT BULB ON PASSENGER SIDE BLEW OUT. THOUGHT THE BULB WAS JUST BLOWN. FOUND THE WIRE HARNESS HAD MELTED ALSO. FOUND ON THE INTERNET THIS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE, WITH THE HARNESSES MELTING.. FIRE COULD HAVE OCCURRED IN MY OPINION. VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY, SO DEALER WONT COVER. SERVICE BULLETIN AVAILABLE BUT VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK, ON 7/26/11 MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP BULB WENT OUT. AFTER I LOOKED AT IT CLOSELY, THE HARNESS WAS CHARRED AND MELTED. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED AT 21,000 MILES, VERY EARLY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY QUOTED ME ON THREE PARTS IF NEEDED: BULB $18; HARNESS $40; HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY $377. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT HEADLAMP WIRING THAT HAS CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN AND IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING TO A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE IF THEY EXPECT CUSTOMERS TO BE LOYAL AND CONTINUE BUYING THEIR VEHICLES. THIS MIGHT BE MY LAST GM VEHICLE. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BURNT OUT TWICE IN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. THE SECOND TIME WE WENT TO CHANGE IT THE WIRES ARE ALL MELTED. NEED TO HAVE TAKEN IN FOR A NEW WIRE HARNESS, THIS HAPPENED ALREADY TWICE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE WIRES MELTING OVER AND OVER. AT AROUND 50K MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD NOT BLOW COLD AIR AT ALL. A LOCAL DEALERSHIP CLEANED AND SANITIZED THE SYSTEM AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND RE-FILLED WITH FREON. THE SYSTEM WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AS FAR AS BLOWING COLD AIR BUT NOT AS WELL AS BEFORE. I RETURNED THE CAR FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AGAIN, THEY USED A NEW MACHINE TO CHECK FOR LEAKS AND PRESSURE CHECKS, REFILLED WITH FREON AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WORKED FOR A DAY AND HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. AFTER THE SECOND TIME, I WAS INFORMED IT WAS A COMPRESSOR ISSUE AND IT WOULD BE AT LEAST $1000. THIS SEEMS EXTREMELY EARLY FOR AN AIR CONDITIONER TO GO OUT, IT WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, OF COURSE. *TR
AT AROUND 50K MILES ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL KIA DEALER, WHICH USED TO BE A SATURN DEALER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE ENTIRE MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1200. BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. REPLACED BOTH FRONT HEADLIGHTS IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS. HEADLIGHTS BURNED OUT AGAIN. HEADLIGHT WIRING HAS MELTED - HAVE TO REPLACE WIRING AND WIRING HARNESS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL - IT'S NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR OF VEHICLE. IS POOR EQUIPMENT USED IN MANUFACTURING. *KB
MY HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. I TRIED TO REPLACE IT AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. I HAD A SHOP REPLACE IT THINKING THAT I TOUCHED THE BULB AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SOCKET/HARNESS WAS MELTED AND SOME OF THE WIRES BEYOND THAT WERE EXPOSED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN IF FIXED, WOULD HAPPEN OVER AND OVER BECAUSE THE BULB IS TOO HOT AND MELTS THE WIRING. I THINK THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CLAIMS OF THIS HAPPENING EXACTLY THE SAME WAY SO IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH BY GM. I HAVE SINCE GOTTEN PULLED OVER AND ISSUED A CITATION FOR NO HEADLIGHT BUT DON'T HAVE THE OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPLACE ALL COMPONENTS AND PAY LABOR CHARGES OF 1.6 HOURS PLUS. THIS IS DANGEROUS DUE TO LOSS OF HEADLIGHTS FOR VISIBILITY, INTERMITTENT WORKING OF HEADLIGHTS, WHICH IF BOTH WENT OUT COULD LEAVE ME STRANDED WITH FOUR KIDS, AND THE EXPOSED WIRE COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FIRE OR SHORT THAT COULD DAMAGE OTHER COMPONENTS OR THE WHOLE VEHICLE. SO AS OF THIS MESSAGE I STILL ONLY HAVE ONE WORKING HEADLIGHT (WHICH MAY BURN OUT SOON TOO IF ITS TOO HOT FOR THE WIRES) AND AM WAITING FOR MY NEXT TICKET...... *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK USED AT APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR HAD DIFFICULTIES RIGHT OFF THE BAT. THE GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOKED AT IT AND AFTER GLANCING BRIEFLY AT THE COMPUTER MONITOR, IT LOOKED LIKE THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THE AIRBAG SENSOR, TOO. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY SOMETHING WITH WHERE MY SON WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT (17 YEAR OLD BOY). THE SENSOR WOULD GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER SOME TIME, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SENSOR FOR ABOUT $1,200. I WAS UNABLE TO DO THAT (ALSO THINKING THAT IT WOULD FAIL AGAIN). SO, WE ARE DRIVING AROUND WITH WHAT APPEARS IS NO PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THERE HAVE BEEN VARIOUS SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THE AIRBAG ISSUE AND NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS. I THINK THAT THIS WARRANTS A RECALL. *TR
IN CARWASH AND DURING RAIN, WATER RUNS IN THROUGH BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG PORTS IN THE FRONT, THROUGH THE DVD PLAYER, THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR, THROUGH THE TOP PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. FOLLOWING FIRST INCIDENT THE RADIO BEGAN TO SHORT OUT, INDICATING THE WATER HAD EFFECTED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THE DVD PLAYER NO LONGER WORKS, AND FOLLOWING THE FIRST INCIDENT THE "CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM" LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS REMAINED ON. THE DEALER CANNOT TELL ME IF THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK PROPERLY. REPAIRS BY THE DEALER HAVE NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. IS THIS VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE IF WATER IS EFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE AIRBAGS? I CAN HEAR WATER SLOSHING AROUND BUT THE WATER CANNOT BE SEEN. THERE IS A DAMP, MUSTY SMELL IN THE VEHICLE LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT WATER IS POOLING SOMEWHERE......IS IT IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM? *JS
IN JUNE OF 2010, THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. AFTER TAKING TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED ! THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. WHILE ON VACATION THIS JULY, 2011, AND 800 MILES FROM HOME, THE LEFT HEADLIGHT IS WORKING WHEN IT WANTS TO. AFTER READING SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS, I AM QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND FEARFUL OF A FIRE. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 45,000 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. OF COURSE, THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I FEEL THAT THIS MATTER SHOULD BE CHECKED INTO AND REPAIRS SHOULD BE DONE AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. A RECALL IS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY ! *TR
MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AND WE REPLACED IT AFTER A HUGE STRUGGLE AS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET TO. THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER, MY LEFT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT, SO WE REPLACED IT WITH THE SAME DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY. HOWEVER, WHEN I REPLACED THIS ONE, THE HARNESS (?) OR COMPONENT YOU PUT THE BULB IN APPEARED BLACK AND "BURNT". MY HEADLIGHT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND IT BURNED OUT AGAIN. I HATE TO KEEP REPLACING HEADLIGHTS IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HARNESS, WHICH IS EVIDENT BY SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION ABOUT REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS IN THE SATURN OUTLOOKS. IT TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF TIME AND EFFORT JUST TO GET TO THE BULB CHANGED ONLY TO HAVE IT CONTINUE TO BURN OUT AFTER A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I REALLY BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE HEADLIGHT HARNESSES AS THE COMPANY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED SATURN AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO TAKE IT TO A GMC DEALER AND HAVE AN EVALUATION DONE ON THE VEHICLE. I AM VERY UPSET WITH GM ABOUT THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE SUNROOF AND CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION. THE PARKING BRAKE SIGNAL WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE WITH A CHIMING NOISE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL WAS CURRENTLY OUT FOR THE FAILURE BUT THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR. HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVEN TIMES OVER THREE YEARS FOR WATER LEAK. HAVE HAD SUNROOF SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES, LEAKING BODY SEAM ALONG FIREWALL SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED, ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT REPAIRED DUE TO WATER, FRONT CARPETS REPLACED. THE CARPETS ARE STILL WET AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL LEAKING. *TR
