THE VEHICLE STARTING JERKING AND LUNGING AT LOW SPEEDS. VEHICLE'S ENGINE STARTED REVVING IN BETWEEN SHIFTING GEARS AND WOULD THEN JERK INTO GEAR. AT TIMES VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THIRD, FIFTH AND REVERSE GEARS. *TR
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ON THE DASH AND GOES OUT THEN COMES BACK ON. SOMETIMES IT STAYS LITE SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T COME ON AT ALL,UNTIL YOU LEAN IN THE SEAT. *TR
WHEN IT IS REALLY COLD OUTSIDE AND THE WIND IS BLOWING, WHEN I ACCELERATE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES AND THE IT SAYS POWER WILL BE REDUCED. THE POWER IS REDUCED DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MILES A HOUR. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY TOLD ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF ABOUT 8 TIMES GIVING TIME IN BETWEEN TO RESET SOMETHING. AT THE TIME OF THIS I WAS ACCELERATING ON TO A DUAL HIGHWAY WITH A INFANT IN THE CAR. SO AT APPOINT I TOOK IT TO POAGE'S IN QUINCY ILL, THEY FLUSHED OUT SOMETHING AND THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT THEY COULD PROBABLY FIX IT WITH A COST AROUND $800.00. I ASKED THEM IF THERE WAS ANY OTHERS THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THEY SAID NO. COME TO FIND OUT A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A 2007 OUTLOOK AND HERS IS DOING THE SAME THING. IT ONLY OCCURS WHEN IT IS VERY COLD OUTSIDE AND WIND COULD BE BLOWING. POAGE SAID WHEN IT IS REALLY COLD OUTTHE AIR INTAKE, AIR SEEMS TO BE SUCKING UP AIR UNDER THE FENDER, WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO TRY FIXING IT SO THE AIR WOULD COME OFF OF THE ENGINE, IT WAS LIKE A VAPOR LOCK. THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WAS THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY I WAS PASSING A CAR, ONCE I ACCELERATED THE POWER WAS REDUCED DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MILES, SAME THING TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON THEN IT STATES POWER WILL BE REDUCED. THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT SOMEWHERE, I CALLED GMC ALL THE COULD SAY THAT THERE WERE NO COMPLAINTS, BUT IN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THERE HAVE BEEN OTHERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS. THEN THEY FURTHER SAID WILL IT IS A SALVAGE TITLE, I HAVE HAD MY OUTLOOK SINCE 02/09 HAD NO COMPLAINTS UP UNTIL JANUARY 2013 WHEN THE WEATHER REALLY GOT COLD. I TOLD GMC I WAS GOING TO CONTACT YOU AND NOTHING WAS SAID. ALSO STATED TO THEM THAT IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE IN MY VEHICLE. THERE WILL BE A LAW SUIT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK ABNORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. CONSUMER REQUEST INFORMATION ON VEHICLE HEADLIGHT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED BOTH HEADLIGHTS, FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. IN JUNE 2012. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE WATER PUMP REPLACED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. I FIRST REPLACED THE WATER PUMP IN DECEMBER 2012 AFTER A TRIP FROM ILLINOIS TO GEORGIA. THE WATER PUMP WAS REPAIRED ON DECEMBER 24,2012, AT A PEP BOYS IN GEORGIA. LUCKILY I GOT AN EXTEND WARRANTY IN MAY 2013, I TOOK THE CAR TO A GM DEALRSHIP FOR OTHER WORK . THEY ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM WORK UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE WORK COULD BE DONE. I WAS FURIOUS AND TOOK BACK TO THE CLOSEST PEP BOYS. ANOTHER WATER PUMP WAS INSTALLED AT PEP BOYS IN MAY, 2103. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO GM IN JUNE AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AGAIN. LUICKILY THE SERVICE MANAGER REPLACED THE WATER PUMP FOR NO CHARGE. I JUST RECEIVED NOTICE FROM GM THAT THEY AKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM WITH WATER PUMP LEAKS WITH THIS MODEL. AND WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS UP TILL 120,000 MILES. I DO NOT THINK THAT THIS CONDITION IS REPAIRABLE IN THAT IT IS UNHEARD OF THAT A CAR WOULD NEED THREE WATER PUMPS IN A PERIOD OF SEVEN MONTHS. THE CMPANY SAYS THAT IT IS CAUSED BY LOW FLUID LEVELS. I HAVE MAINTAINED THE CORRECT LEVEL OF COOLANT IN MY CAR SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT AND BELEIVE IT SOMETHING ALOT MORE THAN WHAT THEY ARE TELLING ME. *TR
THE STRUTS ON THE LIFT GATE OF MY SATURN OUTLOOK FAILED TO HOLD UP WHILE MY SISTER AND I WERE LOADING GROCERIES.I SAW THE GATE COMING DOWN AS IT WAS GOING TO STRIKE MY SISTER IN THE HEAD, AND I REACHED FROM THE SIDE TO PREVENT IT FROM CLOSING AND GOT MY INDEX FINGER CRUSHED IN THE LIFT GATE AND NEARLY SEVERED OFF. I STILL TO THIS DAY HAVE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH MY FINGER.I JUST REVIEVED NOTICE THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT ON THE STRUTS.
VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP AND BUCK CAUSING THE CAR TO LOOSE POWER DANGEROUSLY IN TRAFFIC. TURNS OUT THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION 3-5-R WAVE PLATE BREAKING AND OCCURS ALMOST ALWAYS AROUND 70-100K MILEAGE. BASED ON MY RESEARCH THE WAVE PLATE BREAKAGE IS NOT A QUESTION OF IF BUT WHEN? I CANNOT FATHOM WHY GM WOULD NOT GET AHEAD OF THIS PROBLEM. I CANT BELIEVE ISSUES LIKE IGNITION GET NATIONAL ATTENTION BUT AN ISSUE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERLOOKED. *TR
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK, WATER LEAK THROUGH SEAL ON DASH. SHORTED OUT FUSE PANEL ALLOWING THE CAR TO RUN WITH KEY TURNED OFF AND LOSING FUNCTION OF PASSENGER AIR BAG CONTROL. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER COST $1300.00. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPED VERY BADLY SWITCHING FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. THANKFULLY WAS IN A POPULATED AREA CLOSE TO HOME AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP INTO A PARKING LOT. ONCE PUT IN PARK, WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND HAD TO BE FLAT TOWED TO A GARAGE. *TR
MY WIFE AND I OWN A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR WITH JUST A HAIR UNDER 80K MILES ON IT AND WITHIN THE LAST WEEK OR SO WE HAVE STARTED HAVING SOME WEIRD TRANSMISSION ISSUES RELATED TO SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO ?SLIP? MOMENTARILY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV MID SHIFT. IT ALSO SEEMS TO ?CLUNK? VERY HARD BETWEEN 5TH AND 6TH (OVERDRIVE). OCCASIONALLY, BETWEEN OTHER GEARS IT SEEMS TO SHIFT ROUGHLY, TOO. I HAVE DOUBLE CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVELS WHICH ARE WITHIN TOLERANCES, BUT SEEM TO SMELL HOT TO ME. ONE OTHER THING I HAVE NOTICED, IS THAT WHEN BRAKING OR PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO FULLY DISENGAGE PROPERLY AS NOTICED BY THE ENGINE SEEMINGLY ?LURCHING?. WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVING ONLY HAD IT ROUGHLY TWO YEARS. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP UNDER WARRANTY, AND HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER RECALL FOR VARIOUS ISSUES AT LEAST TWICE. *TR
STARTED UP VEHICLE AND "SERVICE AIR BAG" INDICATOR MESSAGE AND LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
LOUD NOISE EMITTING FROM HOOD WHILE DRIVING IN THE PAST, THEN WHILE DRIVING STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER MY CAR SAFELY. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER CARE WHO INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOT A CURRENT RECALL ON THE STEERING ALTHOUGH AFTER RESEARCHING I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEMS LEADING TO UNSAFE DRIVING. I BEG YOU TO INVESTIGATE THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPAIR RECORDS FROM GM ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS, ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE STEERING MECHANISM. THANK YOU! *TR
WHILE DRIVING , SUDDENLY THE SATURN OUTLOOK XR 2008 WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 30 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN IT WAS SWITCHED FROM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION, IT WOULD NOT CHANGE ABOVE GEAR #3. IN ADDITION, WHEN TRYING TO PARK, IT WAS FOUND THAT REVERSE GEAR WOULDN'T WORK. *TR
MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT (LOW BEAM) WAS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. FINALLY IT STOPPED WORKING. I BOUGHT A NEW BULB AND WAS REPLACING IT THIS WEEKEND. WHILE REMOVING THE OLD BULB, I SAW THAT ONE WIRE HAD PULLED OUT OF THE SOCKET. I LOOKED CLOSER AT THE SOCKET AND REALIZED THAT IT WAS MELTED. THERE WERE ALSO BURN MARKS ON THE BULB PLUG AND A GREEN PLASTIC PIECE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THIS IS AN OEM PART. THE PART SAYS PHILLIPS H11 LL AND MADE IN GERMANY. IT ALSO SAYS 55 W, 12 V. THIS WOULD IMPLY ALMOST 5 A OF CURRENT, WHICH SEEMS ALOT FOR THE VERY SMALL WIRING SIZE. WHILE TRYING TO FIND A REPLACEMENT SOCKET, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES. *TR
SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MONTHS, THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP HAS BURNED OUT 3 TIMES AND THE PASSENGER SIDE 1 TIME. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE, BUT ONLY BODY DAMAGE, I BOUGHT IT AT 33254 MILES, IT IS DRIVING FINE, BUT HAVING HESITATION ISSUES, LOOKS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS HAVING A PROBLEM, I HAVE READ OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH MANY SATURN 2008 OWNERS THIS CAR HAS A SALVAGE TITLE BUT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BODY DAMAGE ACCIDENT, NOT ENGINE, ALL OTHERWISE IS RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE. *TR
TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARD BUT WAS NOT DOING IT ALL THE TIME, I TOOK A FRIEND HOME BACKED OUT OF HIS DRIVEWAY AND THE VEHICLE STARTED BUCKING AND JUMPING AND NOT SHIFTING WHEN I GOT ABOUT A BLOCK DOWN THE ROAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR, I TOOK IT TO A PARTS STORE AND HAD THE SCANNER PUT ON IT AND IT COME UP WITH THE CODE PO796 WHICH IS THE 3-5 PRESSURE PLATE, THIS SUV HAS NEVER PULLED OR TOWED ANYTHING SO THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON WHY IT WENT OUT. MY PREVIOUS SUV WAS A SATURN OUTLOOK 2007 AND THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE WENT OUT OF IT, IT IS PRETTY CLEAR THAT THERE IS A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY ON THESE PLATES AND THEY ARE UNSAFE THIS REPAIR HAS COST ME 3400.00 AND I JUST BOUGHT THE SUV IN JULY, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND INVESTIGATED BECAUSE IT IS PRETTY CLEAR THAT THE PLATES ARE DEFECTIVE AND GM NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THESE WITH A RECALL. *TR
I HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ONE MORNING IT JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THEN LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T MOVE. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 05, 2012 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILIES IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPM RISE UP VERY HIGH AND VERY QUICKLY. I TRY TO STEP ON THE BRAKE BUT IT DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I HAD TO STEP ON THE BRAKE A COUPLE OF TIME BUT DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. IT SPEED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER MILES BEFORE IT SLOW DOWN AND THE RPM CAME DOWN. I WAS TERRIFIED OF HOW THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATES OUT OF CONTROL. AFTER THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE SERVICE STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THERE IS ALSO A HUMMING NOISE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE OR THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRACTION CONTROL / SERVICES STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF. THIS HAPPEN THREE TIME TO ME WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I WROTE TO GM AND GM REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME OR LOOK INTO THE THESE ISSUE. I HOPE THAT WITH MY COMPLAINT AND ALL OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM ALL OF THE OTHER GM VEHICLE OWNERS, SOMETHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT THESE ISSUE. I TOLD GM THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING WITH MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR AWD AND GM TOLD ME TO GO SCREW MYSELF. THAT IS SOO SAD, CONSIDERING THIS IS THE HOLIDAY AND ME AND MY FAMILIES HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO GO ANYWHERE. *TR
WATER LEAK FROM SUNROOF TRAVELED DOWN THE DRIVER'S PILLAR AND THROUGH THE DASH, ONTO THE FLOOR. THIS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE WHICH CAUSED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING BELL TO SOUND. WATER WAS ALSO LEAKING OUT OF THE CURTAIN AIRBAG BADGE ON THE PILLAR POTENTIALLY COMPROMISING THE AIRBAG. WATER SOAKED THE DRIVER'S CARPET AND MATS. NOW THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT FOR RPM IS OPERATING SPORADICALLY.
STEERING SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING BECAME VERY STIFF. UNABLE TO COMPLETE TURN. HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. FORCED TO URGENTLY REPLACE POWER STEERING UNIT AT GREAT EXPENSE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED WITH POTENTIAL FOR RECALL OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPLACEMENT EXPENSE. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY THE CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN THE SERVICE STABILITRAC WARNING CAME ON CAUSING JERKING IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AND WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO GO. HAD IT TOWED AND THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENTIRE TIMING COMPONENT WAS BAD, THIS WAS A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. NEXT I WAS TRAVELING ON A FREEWAY WITH MY CHILDREN APPROACHING AN OFFICER AT THE SCENE OF A WRECK MY CAR REVVED VERY HIGH AND WOULDN'T SHIFT ANYMORE....NOT ONLY WITH AN OFFICER AT A ACCIDENT BUT ALSO REDUCED TO ONE LANE TRAFFIC DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION. I HAD TO ATTEMPT TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MECHANIC SAID TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. I HAVE SPOKE TO SATURN AND INFORMED THEN OF ALL MY ISSUES...EVENAFTER TRANSMISSION REPAIRS MY CAR CONTINUES TO JERK AND STALL IN TRAFFIC TO THE POINT I WAS ALMOST T BONED BY A SEMI!! I HAVE HAD MY FILL OF MY CHILDREN AT RISK FROM A POORLY BUILT CAR! MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WON'T EVEN KICK ON AND IS HAVING PROBLEMS. ALL MY PROBLEMS STARTED AT 50,000 MILES!! MY SUN ROOF WAS LEADING AND I HAD WATER GUSHING DOWN MY PILLARS HAD TO PAY FOR THAT TO BE SERVICED AS WELL! *TR
MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT SUDDENLY WENT OUT, ABOUT THE SAME TIME MY HEAT SENSOR BEGAN READING HIGH AS IF VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE PROBLEM WITH OVERHEATING AND THEY REPLACED THE PROJECTOR BEAM. *TR NOW A MONTH LATER IM HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS ONLY NOW I NOTICE A COOLANT LEAK. I REPLACED COOLANT AND CAR STILL ACTS LIKE ITS OVERHEATING, ALSO THE HEADLIGHT IS ONCE AGAIN OUT.
SERVICE AIR BAG INDICATOR MESSAGE KEEPS COMING ON AND THEN GOING OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING CAR. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING LIGHT WENT OUT. I HAD THE BULB REPLACED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. I HAD THE LIGHT TAKEN OUT AND WAS TOLD THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AND HAD CAUSED THE BULB TO GO OUT. SO I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THAT SIDE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY OTHER SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS THAT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MOST OF THEM. *TR
WE HAVE OWNED THIS 2008 OUTLOOK SINCE IT WAS NEW, WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. IT WAS PRINCIPALLY GARAGED UNTIL RECENTLY. AFTER ANY RAIN WATER CAN BE HEARD SLOSHING OVER YOUR HEAD AND THE FLOOR GETS WET. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE STARTED HAPPENING. VARIOUS LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH AND THE RADIO WILL TURN ON BY ITSELF. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE WATER LEAKING IN IS CAUSING ELECTRICAL SHORTS WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE OR CAUSE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO FAIL. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THIS MUCH WATER ENTERING THE DASH COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE RESULTING IN INJURIES. WATER IS ENTERING FROM THE SUNROOF AND DOES NOT DRAIN PROPERLY. GM HAS A TSB THAT SPEAKS OF DRAIN TUBES THAT NEED TO BE EXTENDED. I DO NOT THINK THAT IS THE ISSUE BECAUSE, IF IT WAS, IT WOULD HAVE LEAKED SINCE IT WAS NEW. THIS PROBLEM ONLY STARTED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND THIS CAR HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO RAIN OVER THE YEARS WITH NO ISSUES. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OVERHEATED AND MELTED CAUSING THE LIGHT TO FAIL . THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED WITH THIS AUTOMOBILE . THE LAST INCIDENT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED OVERHEATED AND MELTED CAUSING LIGHT TO FAIL. *TR
ON OUR 08 OUTLOOK, THE POWER STEERING JUST "GAVE OUT", WHENEVER IT FELT LIKE- BE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHARP TURN, U TURN, OR GOING ON/OFF AN EXIT RAMP. THERE WAS NO WARNING (GROANING, WHINING, ETC. FROM THE PUMP), YOU SUDDENLY WOULD LOSE POWER STEERING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP- IT APPARENTLY WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN (????WHY?). I TRIED ALL OF THEIR "FIXES"- FLUSHING THE FLUID OUT WITH NEW, PUTTING SYNTHETIC IN, FILLING SLIGHTLY ABOVE AS RECOMMENDED. IT FINALLY BOILED DOWN TO A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. RIDICULOUS! *TR
FRONT HEADLIGHT HARNESSES ARE MELTING. NO HEADLIGHT WORKING BECAUSE OF WIRES MELTING. *TR
I FILED A COMPLAINT #10596533 IN JUNE 2014 ABOUT MY AIR BAG. IT IS AS FOLLOWS: "IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK SAYS OFF EVEN WHEN A FULL SIZED ADULT IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES IF YOU MOVE AROUND IN THE SEAT OR GET OUT AND THEN GET BACK IN IT WILL COME ON BUT THERE ARE NOT GUARANTEES. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A SENSOR IN THE SEAT AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY $900 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR SO THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL ACTUALLY FUNCTION. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE A 'SAFETY RECALL". IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH A RIDICULOUS PRICE TAG FOR FIXING. AN UNAFFORDABLE PRICE FOR ANY AVERAGE PERSON! IF THE COMPANY CARES ABOUT SAFETY THEY WILL PUT OUT A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. IN ADDITION I NOTICED ON SEVERAL SITES THAT EVEN AFTER THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED THAT THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. IN MY OPINION THEY NEED TO COME UP WITH A WHOLE NEW SYSTEM FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FEEL SAFE IN OUR OWN VEHICLES." I HAVEN'T RESOLVED MY PROBLEM. THE DEALER FIRST SAID THEY WOULD PAY 30% OF THE $900 IF I COVERED THE REST. THEY HAVE NOW DECIDED THAT THEY WILL COVER 70% IF I COVER THE REMAINING $270. NOW THIS SEEM LIKE A GREAT DEAL CONSIDERING THE COST IS $900 HOWEVER IT IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE AND I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING. I CONTINUE TO FIND MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ORDERED. I WILL CONTINUE TO FILE COMPLAINTS TO EVERY ORGANIZATION THAT I FIND UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS ADDRESSED AND IT IS REPLACED FOR FREE. I DIDN'T DAMAGE THE SENSOR IT IS BAD ON MANY SATURN'S. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE ON VACATION, NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, NO APPARENT PROBLEMS AT THE TIME BUT THE NEXT MORNING (AFTER SITTING IN THE PARKING RAMP ALL NIGHT) I COME OUT TO FIND A DEAD CAR BATTERY. APPARENTLY, AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY, THE CAR DID NOT SHUT OFF. JUMPED THE BATTERY, TOOK IT RIGHT TO A REPAIR SHOP. DUE TO A MAJOR WATER LEAK OF THE SUNROOF, MY WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS AFFECTED. THE CAR HAD TO BE DRIED OUT, I CONTINUE TO HAVE MORE AND MORE THINGS GO WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT CONTINUES TO LEAK WATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR, ROOF (COMES DOWN LIKE A WATERFALL), ETC. NOW I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR BATTERY RUNNING HIGHER AND MY FRONT HEAD LAMP TURNS ON AND OFF. COULD MAKE THIS CAR VERY DANGEROUS! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIRBAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,000.
MY TRANSMISSION ON MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK WENT OUT AND WAS REPLACED (WITH A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION) UNDER WARRANTY IN APRIL 2012. IT IS GOING OUT AGAIN AND THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED, NOVEMBER 2012. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, THE DEALER WAS TRYING TO PUSH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON ME, STRESSING OVER AND OVER THAT IT COVERED THE TRANSMISSION, SO OBVIOUSLY HE KNEW MY TRUCK WOULD HAVE FUTURE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MY TRUCK STILL HAD A WARRANTY, AND WITH MY TRUCK BEING ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, I OPTED NOT TO BUY IT, TRUSTING THAT SATURN WAS A REPUTABLE DEALER. BIG MISTAKE TRUSTING SATURN. *TR

MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK (W/SUNROOF) ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WITH KEY OFF POSITION (SEE GM BULLETIN #08-08-57-003C [SEAM SEAL] DATED JULY 15, 2011) WATER LEAK AT A-PILLAR CAUSED VARIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WITH KEY OFF/POSSIBLE NO CRANK/NO START/COMMUNICATION LOSS/VARIOUS ELECTRICAL CONCERNS, WHICH WAS THE RESULT OF A WATER LEAK ON THE IP BEC FROM THE SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE THAT EXITS THROUGH THE VEHICLE AT THE PLENUM AND RE-ENTER THROUGH THE "UNSEALED SEAM AT THE FRONT OF THE DASH". THIS CAN EFFECT 2007-2010 OUTLOOK; 2007-2012 GMC ACADIA; 2008-2012 BUICK ENCLAVE. GM ONLY COVERS THIS TO 3 YRS/36K MILE WARRANTY THEN GM REQUIRES OWNER TO PAY $400 TO REPAIR THEIR ENGINEERING DEFECT... *TR

NOW I HAVE THE INNER LINING OF THE CEILING LEAKING WITH WATER FROM THE RAIN AND ALL MY LEATHER SEATS ARE WET, THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS WET ALONG WITH ALL MY LIGHTS DRIPPING WITH WATER. I HAVE READ ON SO MANY FORUMS HOW THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALL STARTED WITH THESE LEAKS AND WE SHOULD HAVE A RECALL BEFORE ANYONE GETS KILLED FROM THE CAR DYING ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THE CAR HAS A DEFECT IN WHICH THE AIR CONDITIONING HOSE DOES NOT DRAIN PROPERLY. WHEN THE HOSE BECOMES CLOGGED, THE WATER DRAINS INTO THE DASH AREA OF THE CAR, FILLING THE BLOWER MOTOR WITH WATER THE WATER, WHEN SATURATED, LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR, ONTO THE FLOORING. THE WATER THEN SITS IN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND SOAKS THE FLOOR PADDING AND OTHER WIRES ALONGSIDE THE FLOORING. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED ON OTHER SATURN OUTLOOKS. THE PROBLEM HOWEVER, IS NOT NOTED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AS SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES MAINTENANCE (NOR IS MAINTENANCE SUGGESTED). THE DEALERSHIP THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO FOR SERVICE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED, DID NOTE THAT IT IS A PROBLEM, AND NEEDS REGULAR FLUSHING. THEY QUOTED A PRICE OF $1500.00. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR, AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO EVEN ACCESS THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. *TR

I BOUGHT A USED 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT/DAYTIME LIGHT WENT OUT. CHANGED THE BULB AND CHECK THE FUSE IN NOVEMBER 2011 AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 2012. THE MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A SHORT IN THE HEADLIGHT AND NOT THE WIRING HARNESS.
