WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, THE RPMS WENT UP TO 6000....HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 20 MPH ON HIGHWAY....THANK GOODNESS IT WASN'T RUSH HOUR! TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT! *TR
WITHOUT WARNING, I LEFT A PARKING LOT AND MY CAR SEEMED VERY SLUGGISH. I NOTICED THAT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I PULLED OVER AND KILLED THE ENGINE. I LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS I ACCELERATED TO GO DOWN THE ROAD. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, SO WE CALLED A WRECKER AND HAD IT HAULED TO THE TRANSMISSION PLACE. THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT AND THE COMPUTER INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AND PROGRAMMED. THESE REPAIRS TOTALED JUST OVER $3,000. I AM SO ANGRY BECAUSE I HAVE READ ON A SATURN FORUM THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GM WON'T DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE THIS TYPE PROBLEM ON A 5-6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. *TR
10/12/13 WE HAD SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN & THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED THE FLOOR BOARDS WERE WET. AGAIN, THE EVENING OF 10/15 WE HAD SEVERE RAIN STORMS WITH FLOODING IN OUR CITY. THE NEXT DAY WHEN MY MIL & I GOT INTO VEHICLE THE FLOOR BOARDS WERE SOAKED. WHEN WE PUT OUR SEAT BELTS ON THEY TOO WERE WET. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A BODY SHOP ON 10/16 & HAVE A STATEMENT THAT IT WOULD BE A COSTLY REPAIR, MOLD WAS PRESENT & HE STATED IT WAS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT I DRIVE IT DUE TO POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. ON 10/23 I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE BODY SHOP & NOTICED THE MOLD ON THE HEADLINER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE & DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (COVERT BUICK) WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE & TOLD THEM I WOULD BE BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO THEM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. 10/24 I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE & IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER TOM. HE SENT A TOW TRUCK OUT TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. PRIOR TO THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVING I CLEANED OUT ALL MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS & UPON DOING SO I FOUND THAT THE THIRD ROW CUP HOLDER HAD STANDING WATER IN IT & MOLD WAS GROWING IN IT ALSO. UPON ARRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP TOM STATED HE "GOT ME A LOANER VEHICLE APPROVED BY [XXX], THEY USUALLY DON'T DO THIS" & TOLD ME I WOULD "LIKELY NOT HEAR FROM THEM UNTIL WED, 10/30 AS THEY WERE VERY BUSY". I DID NOT HEAR FROM TOM UNTIL FRI, 11/1 AT 3PM. I RETURNED HIS CALL AT 5PM & HE EXPLAINED THAT THEY ASSESSED MY VEHICLE & IT WOULD COST ME $1900 FOR REPAIRS. "THERE WERE LEAKS FOUND & WATER DAMAGE CAUSED A SHORT IN THE BATTERY." I THEN EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT FEEL THIS WAS SOMETHING I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET FIXED AS I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM THEM. ASKED HIM TO ESCALATE TO HIS MANAGER & GET BACK TO ME. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM TOM 11/4 STATING COVERT WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
OUR SATURN OUTLOOK HAS HAD PROBLEMS THAT HAVE ACCUMULATED MORE RECENTLY THAT INCLUDE THE STEERING BOX FAILING (AUDIBLE POPPING WHEN NEAR NEUTRAL STEERING POSITION), THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND BRAKE SIMULTANEOUS LIGHTS WITH FEEDBACK IN THE BRAKE PEDALS (EVEN WHEN ABS IS NOT ACTIVE), AND A VERY ANNOYING WEATHER/WATER LEAK FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE THAT IS SOAKING THE PASSENGER CARPET AFTER EVERY SINGLE RAIN. NONE OF THESE ITEMS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND I'M RETURNING THE CAR FOR THE SECOND TIME TOMORROW TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE THE LEAK (AGAIN) AND THE STABILITY CONTROL. I ALREADY REPLACED THE STEERING BOX, OUT OF POCKET, FOR OVER $1000. WE JUST PAID THE CAR OFF AND BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2008. IT BARELY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT, AND THIS IS NOT A QUALITY PRODUCT. THE RIDE, HANDLING, INTERIOR FEATURES/SPACE ARE OUTSTANDING, BUT THERE ARE TOO MANY FAULTS FOR SUCH A NEW(ER) CAR. I ALSO REPLACED THE WATER PUMP A FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT THAT WAS AT THE TAIL END OF MY WARRANTY (NOW EXPIRED). AFTER ONLY 5 YEARS AND 50,000 MILES, I'M LOOKING AT EXPENSIVE MONTHLY PAYMENTS FOR A NEW VEHICLE TO REPLACE WHAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED AT LEAST ANOTHER 5 YEARS COMFORTABLY WITHOUT MAJOR DEFECTS. IT'S NO WONDER SATURN WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND THAT GM HAS NEARLY FAILED SO MANY TIMES... *TR
AFTER HAVING STOPPED AT A STORE, AND PUTTING MY CAR INTO DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR / MAYBE 2ND AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE TRANSMISSION IS GONE! I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, I NOTICED THE STABILTRAK ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH AND A MESSAGE TO GET MY BRAKES SERVICED. I THOUGHT IT WOULD GO AWAY, BUT KEEP COMING UP. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE TO HAVE THE STABILTRAK REPLACED. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE. SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY GM. CAN CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR LIKE TURNING OVER! *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING STOP WORKING. IT WILL GO ON AND OFF AND NOW AS OF 05/06/2014 IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME. *TR
MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK STARTED TO LOSE STEERING AT LOW RATES OR SPEED BETWEEN 5MPH TO 15 MPH. IT BECOMES ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE STEERING WILL LOCK UP AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR AND STEERING PUMP; BOTH NEED REPLACED. I KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED TO HAVE IT REPLACED AS I HAVE A 5 MONTH CHILD AND AM UNABLE TO AFFORD THE $2000 COST THAT GM QUOTED ME. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE STEERING ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SURGE AND LUNGED FORWARD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE IN ORDER TO PARK IN HIS DRIVEWAY BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE IN THE REVERSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
WAS DRIVING MY IN-LAWS 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND THEN ENGINE REVVED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. WAS ON BUSY HIGHWAY AND HAD TO PULL OVER. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND TRIED TO DRIVE AND ENGINE WOULD NOT SHIFT PAST 30 MPH AND THEN STARTING GOING IN AND OUT OF SHIFTING AND NOT MOVING AT ALL. HAD TO PULL BACK OVER AND THEN GET A TOW. THIS HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING. *TR
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ON 500 MILE TRIP HOME TO DALLAS. AFTER PULLING OFF THE FREEWAY IN WICHITA FOR DINNER, THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AT ABOUT 30 MPH. HAD TO TOW IT TO A DEALER. WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAD "FALLEN APART" AND NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $3,600. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS TO BE A RATHER COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY OUTLOOK AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AN HOUR AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LIMPED THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT THINKING MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LOW. THAT WAS CHECKED AND WAS FOUND TO BE AT A NORMAL LEVEL. LEAVING THE PARKING LOT WE LEARNED THAT THERE WAS NOW NO REVERSE. THE ONLY GEAR THAT FUNCTIONED WAS FIRST GEAR. WE DROVE AT LOW SPEED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ON 8/26/13 I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT APPROXIMATELY $3500 - $4000. *TR
AFTER HAVING 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK ACTING "ODDLY". MY HUSBAND TOOK FOR A RIDE. AT STOP SIGN WENT TO ACCELERATE ONTO ROAD. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. HAD TO CALL FOR TOW. AND WAVE VEHICLES TO PASS. FIVE DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND COUNTING. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60 MPH ON HWY. CAR SHUT OFF AND BACK ON, IT WAS ALSO RAINING. SMELT REALLY BAD LIKE A FIRE. WENT STRAIGHT HOME, TOOK CAR TO SHOP THE NEXT DAY. THE WATER LEAK I THOUGHT HAD BEEN FIXED WAS LEAKING INTO THE ELECTRICAL BOARD CAUSED A BURN OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH WHEN CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 10-15MPH. HAD TO PLACE MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON IN ORDER NOT TO GET HIT BY PASSING VEHICLES AND MOVE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR IN ORDER FOR THE ACCELERATOR TO WORK AGAIN. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT THE VEHICLE KEPT ON STALLING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND IT TURNS OUT ITS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT'S MALFUNCTIONING. THE WARRANTY I PURCHASED DOES NOT COVER THIS TYPE OF PART, I DON'T EVEN HAVE A YEAR WITH THIS VEHICLE. IN DOING MY RESEARCH I FIND OUT THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS VEHICLE ON FORESAID PROBLEM AROUND THE TIME I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL OPENED. INVESTIGATION NUMBER PE13-003. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING ME CLOSE TO $700 IN ORDER TO GET THIS PART FIXED. THEY DID NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO ME I HAD TO LOOK IT UP MY SELF. THEY ALSO DID NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTER CAR I HAD TO PURCHASE ONE ON MY OWN. ITS JUST UNFAIR. *TR
SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE BEGAN APPEARING AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP RESET IT BUT EVENTUALLY THE MESSAGE RETURNED AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. DEALERSHIP DID FURTHER DIAGNOSIS AND DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT BASED ON THE NUMEROUS OTHER INCIDENTS OF FAILURE NOTED ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD. *TR
WATER LEAK FROM SUNROOF TRAVELED DOWN THE DRIVER'S PILLAR AND THROUGH THE DASH, ONTO THE FLOOR. THIS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE WHICH CAUSED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING BELL TO SOUND. WATER WAS ALSO LEAKING OUT OF THE CURTAIN AIRBAG BADGE ON THE PILLAR POTENTIALLY COMPROMISING THE AIRBAG. WATER SOAKED THE DRIVER'S CARPET AND MATS. NOW THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT FOR RPM IS OPERATING SPORADICALLY. *TR
THIS CAR SUCKS, BOUGHT THE CAR LAST MAY 2013 AND WITHIN 2 MONTHS AND TO TAKE IT TO COTTMAN TRANS IN NJ , I STILL HAD A WARRANTY FROM GUARDIAN , THEY CAME OUT TO LOOK AT IT , THE WAVE PLATE IS BAD , BUT WE AREN'T GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT BECAUSE THEY SHOULD OF FIXED IT , TOOK IT BACK TO FAULKNER BUICK GMC AND AN HOUR OF FREE , GUESS WHAT THE WAVE PLATE AND TRANS NEEDS TO BE REPLACE , I LOOKED O THE WEB AND IT STATES THIS CAR SATURN OUTLOOK HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS , WHEN ARE THE GOING TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM TOO . *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY & THE VEHICLE STARTED LURCHING & THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. I TOOK IT RIGHT AWAY (SAME DAY) TO AN AUTO SHOP & HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE. ON THE WAY HOME THE VEHICLE LOCKED IN THE 1ST GEAR & I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. IT SHOWED THE SPEED SENSOR WAS OUT. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THE WAVE PLATE IS BAD, WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM WITH THESE MODELS. IT IS A COST OF $3500.00 TO REPAIR & COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS INJURY TO MYSELF & MY CHILDREN. I WANT TO KNOW WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE ON THIS? AND WHY GM IS NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE REPAIR COSTS? *TR
THE VEHICLE MAKES A RUBBING/GRINDING NOISE THAT INTERFERES WITH TURNING (ESPECIALLY LEFT). IT FEELS LIKE YOU CANNOT COMPLETE THE TURN OR STOP. THIS CAUSED PROBLEMS WHEN THE GEARS WOULD SHIFT ALSO. FEELING LIKE YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE OR STOP IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. MECHANIC SAYS THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE TOLLWAY, ALL ELECTRICAL PARTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT COMPLETELY OUT, AND THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED BLOWING, AND THE RADIO WENT OUT. EVEN THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED DISPLAYING. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED NOTHING. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT JUPITER CHEVROLET IN DALLAS CHARGED US $770 TO REPAIR A WIRING HARNESS THAT THEY SAID WAS RUINED DUE TO A LEAK IN A DRAINAGE HOSE IN THE SUNROOF AND THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. WATER HAD LEAKED INTO THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD AS WELL. *TR
VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SHIFTING CORRECTLY FOR THE PAST YEAR OR SO. TOOK IT TO A GM DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD THE WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS CRACKED. BEGAN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND A FORUM WHERE HUNDREDS OF OTHER GM OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. AFTER READING, IT APPEARS THAT WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE TWO YEARS AGO, IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE PROBLEM. I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THAT AS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND WHEN I MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (WHICH IS NO LONGER A GM DEALERSHIP SINCE THEY NO LONGER HAVE SATURN), IT WAS DISMISSED BECAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENED ONE TIME. I CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING BUT DIDN'T TAKE TO AUTHORIZED GM DEALERSHIP SO THEY DON'T HAVE RECORD OF IT. RECENTLY, RPM'S WERE RANDOMLY JUMPING ABOVE 4 ON THE HIGHWAY EVERY 10 MINUTES AND I FELT LUCKY TO MAKE IT HOME FROM A RECENT TRIP IN THE MOUNTAINS. OF COURSE, GM IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO REPAIR CAR BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY PEOPLE CAN BE EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS AND IT NOT BE A RECALL ISSUE? REALLY UPSET THAT MY TWO CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR AND SCARED TO DEATH WE WERE GOING TO WRECK OR GET STRANDED! *TR
DURING RAINS, LEAKS IN THE LEFT REAR IN SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT, AFFECTING THE CARPET, AND FLOODING THE BACK STORAGE COMPARTMENT.
WHILE ACCELERATING IN SPEED AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE WENT TO SHIFT AND THE ENGINE RPMS WENT UP EXCESSIVELY, AND THE JERKED HARD WHEN SHIFTING. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE AS WE TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME. WE ADDED TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE IT LOOKED LOW. THE NEXT DAY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHO PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE SAID THAT IT SHOWED A SOLENOID STUCK OPEN, BUT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAIL SAFE DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY. THEY SAID I SHOULD HAVE HAD REVERSE, AND SECOND TO GET ME OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. HOWEVER, THE REVERSE DIDN'T KICK IN UNLESS THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 60000 MILES ON IT. *TR
WHILE IN A STOPPED POSITION, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I WAS STUCK NOT BEING ABLE TO PULL OVER TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC, BECAUSE MY CAR WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. I PUT IT INTO PARK, THEN BACK INTO DRIVE SEVERAL TIMES, AND I FINALLY GOT IT TO CREEP ENOUGH IN LOW GEAR TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER IF I WERE TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP PRIOR DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. THIS WAS NOT COVERED AND COST ME $3000. I AM STILL NOT SURE THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR A FRONT LEAK AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR FROM THE SUNROOF, WHICH STILL LEAKS WITH HEAVY RAIN. ALSO, THE CONSTANT SQUEALING WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHICH NO MECHANIC WILL ACKNOWLEDGE. NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS. I ASSUME IT IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE GOOD ACCELERATION POWER COMPARED TO ANY OTHER SUV MODEL. IT DRAGS WITH NO PICK UP.

I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH. ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH, WATER STARTED POURING INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE A PILLAR BECAUSE OF A LEAKING SUNROOF/MOONROOF. I UNDERSTAND FROM RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A REPEATED ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES, YET GM WILL NOT FIX THEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. I PAID $20K FOR THIS VEHICLE TWO MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE MADE ONE PAYMENT OF 72, AND NOW I FIND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE CAN NEVER GET WET OR THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS. *TR
SATURN 2008 OUTLOOK STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. FEELS LIKE GOING INTO 3RD GEAR IS THE PROBLEM AND SOMETIMES IN REVERSE. SOUNDS LIKE A REV OF THE ENGINE AND THEN A HARD SHIFT INTO THE GEAR. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY POSTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS AND UNFORTUNATELY GM IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH HOW THEY RESOLVE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD BE A COURTESY FIX OR RECALL. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK ROUGHLY 3 YEARS AGO. AFTER HAVING IT ONLY A FEW MONTHS I BEGAN TO HAVE STEERING ISSUES. THE STEERING ALL BUT LOCKS UP WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO SPEEDS BELOW 25-30 MPH. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM!! I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CLOSE CALLS WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR 2+ YEARS! I MIGHT HAVE HAD THE MONEY TO HAVE IF FIXED IF I HAD NOT HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED!!!! WAS DRIVING ON HWY. AT 60 MPH WHEN ENGINE BEGAN TO REV AND THEN WHEN I CAME TO STOPLIGHT AND TOOK OFF, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH.AND WOULD JERK AND THEN AS I CONTINUED TO TRY TO GET SPEED BECAUSE OF OTHERS BEHIND ME-IT WOULD NOT GO. HAD TO DRIVE 30 MPH FOR TWO HOURS TO GET ONLY 40 MILES. TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND GM IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. THIS IS A HAZARD AND THERE ARE SOOO MANY COMPLAINTS WITH PROBLEMS JUST LIKE THIS AND NO RECALL YET-REALLY-SO WILL ONE BE MADE WHEN SOMEONE IS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. ALSO WHEN THIS BEGAN I HAD A 1/2 TANK OF GAS, WHEN I GOT TO DEALERSHIP-2 HOURS LATER-THE CAR WAS ON E!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE ON THIS TOO NOW. PASSENGER AIRBAG SAYS NEEDS TO BE SERVICED-WAS LIKE THIS WHEN WE PURCHASED AND DEALER SAID THEY WOULD FIX-NEVER DID AND THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT MEANS THE PASSENGER IS NOT SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE, BUT THEN AGAIN, NONE OF US ARE BECAUSE OF GM-AM GOING TO BEGIN PROCESS WITH SMALL CLAIMS COURT REGARDING ALL OF THESE ISSUES. WHILE ACCELERATING VEHICLE ABRUPTLY REDUCED SPEED AND DID NOT MOVE THIS CAUSED VEHICLES FOLLOWING MY CAR TO IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN TO NEARLY MISS REAR ENDING MY VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. ALL OF THE SUDDEN ONE DAY I WENT TO LEAVE MY DRIVEWAY, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. IT ALSO BARLEY GOES FORWARD. I HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH SLOWER THAN NORMAL ACCELERATION AND ROUGH GEAR CHANGE. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SIMILAR KIND ALL OVER THE INTERNET. IT SEEMS THERE IS A $25 PART CALLED A WAVE PLATE THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN THESE CARS WHICH CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO CEASE RESULTING IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF REPAIRS. AFTER FINDING THIS OUT I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS BOUNCED AROUND QUITE A BIT. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND DISCUSSED HELPING FINANCIALLY TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ASKED US TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A GM DEALERSHIP SO WE DID JUST THAT. AFTER DOING THAT THEY RENIGGED THEIR OFFER TO HELP US SO THE CAR JUST SAT THERE FOR QUITE A WHILE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN 2011 WITH 98,000 AND OWNED IT 2 YEARS THEN HAD THIS PROBLEM, NOW AT 126,000. AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND HAD THIS HAPPEN I HAVE FOUND OUT THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. I LOVE THE CAR BUT IT IS A COMPLETE HEADACHE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF THREE KIDS AND DO NOT HAVE $3500 TO SHELL OUT TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AND BELIEVE THAT IT IS SUCH A HUGE ISSUE THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE AND THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED. MEANWHILE I MAKE A CAR PAYMENT EVERY MONTH FOR A BROKEN DOWN CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR ALMOST A YEAR BECAUSE I CAN'T AND ALSO FEEL LIKE I SHOULD SHELL OUT THAT KIND OF $ WHEN GM IS CLEARLY AT FAULT. NEAR THE END OF MAY 2012, I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHICH SLOPES SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD, AND SUDDENLY WATER STARTED COMING OUT OF THE REAR OVERHEAD LIGHTS. WHEN THE CAR REACHED LEVEL GROUND THE WATER THEN CAME OUT OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE WINDSHIELD PILLAR AND THE SUNROOF AS WELL. I BROUGHT IT TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES WERE CLOGGED. IT COST ME $90.00 TO HAVE THEM CLEAN IT OUT. THE CAR IS NORMALLY GARAGED, HOWEVER WE HAD DRIVEN IT DURING A RAINSTORM THE DAY BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. AFTERWARDS WE STARTED NOTICING SOME CRAZY THINGS HAPPENING TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE RADIO WOULD STAY ON EVEN AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED AND OPENING THE DOORS (WHICH NORMALLY WOULD SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN.) SOMETIMES THE FRONT DOOR PANEL SPEAKERS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL, OR ONE WOULD WORK OR BOTH WOULD WORK. RIGHT NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE IS NOT WORKING. THEN THE DAY AFTER THE CAR WAS OUT IN A TORRENTIAL RAIN STORM SOMETIME NEAR THE END OF FEBRUARY 2014, IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND I HAD TO CALL AAA TO GET IT STARTED. THE AAA GUY SAID TO CHECK THIS CAR OUT ONLINE FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, WHICH I DID AND FOUND VOLUMES OF COMPLAINTS STEMMING FROM THIS ISSUE, AS WELL AS SEVERAL GM TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS OR TSB'S AS THEY ARE REFERRED TO. I ONCE AGAIN BROUGHT IT TO THE GM DEALERSHIP WHICH KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND REPAIRED IT AT A COST TO ME OF $810.39. GM HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE DIRECTLY, NOR HAS COMPENSATED ANY OF THE CONSUMERS WHO OWN THE VEHICLES THAT ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM, NAMELY SATURN OUTLOOK, GMC ACADIA AND BUICK ENCLAVE FROM 2008 - 2010. I FEEL THAT IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNETHICAL FOR THEM TO PASS THIS PROBLEM OFF TO THE CONSUMER. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AND I WANT TO BE REIMBURSED, AND I'D LIKE THEM TO INSPECT AND REPAIR FOR FREE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AS WELL FOR OTHER DAMAGE. *TR
THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR GOES OVER A BUMP OR WHEN A PERSON SHIFTS POSITION IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND THE SUBJECT OF SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2008 OUTLOOK STARTED TO JERK DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN HAD VERY HIGH RPMS BUT NO ACCELERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION I COULD NOT MOVE AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND IT HAD A BROKEN WAVE PLATE AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT WHICH TOOK 2 WEEKS. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO STILL BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BY ONLY 2 WEEKS. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF THESE AS IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL YET IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO EVERYONE. *TR
IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE MY PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP. THE FIRST TIME IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS THEN WENT OUT AGAIN. I HAD IT CHANGED AND IT LASTED ABOUT 10 DAYS THAT TIME. THIS LAST TIME IT ONLY LASTED ABOUT 6 HOURS BEFORE IT BURNED OUT AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE, JERKED VIOLENTLY, AND THEN STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76000.
I HAD TROUBLE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING MADE SOUNDS WHEN TURNING. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE STEERING GEAR WAS LEAKING AND IT WAS REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1,300. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM IN SEPTEMBER 2014 THAT "...SOME 2008 MODEL YEAR SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP A POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION THAT CAN CAUSE AN INTERMITTENT DROP OF POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE THAT WILL CAUSE REDUCED OR LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST." THIS SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE I HAD BUT WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE WORK, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE I HAD WAS A LEAKING STEERING GEAR AND THE ISSUE IN THE LETTER WAS A POWER STEERING PUMP. I AM SURPRISED THAT ONE DOESN'T AFFECT THE OTHER GIVEN THE RESULTING ISSUE IS THE SAME. *TR
WE WERE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE AT FULL RPM'S. WE SLOWED AND PULLED OVER ACROSS TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE FOR A SECOND BUT THE CAR DID NOT MOVE MORE THAN A FEW FEET. *TR
LAST NIGHT WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THE LEFT FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE LIGHT BULB CHANGED AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE BULB SOCKET/WIRING WAS BURNT AND THE BULB WAS DAMAGED. THEY SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW BULB AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS PART HAS FAILED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE HARNESSES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE LEFT SIDE HARNESS AND BULB WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR APPROX. 10,000 MILES AGO AND NOW IT IS BURNT UP AGAIN. I FEEL THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO UPGRADE THE WIRING HARNESS SO THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT CONTINUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
POWER STEERING PUMP WAS FIRST REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE IN 10/2011. POWER STEERING PUMP HAS AGAIN FAILED AND NOW REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE PUMP, HOSES, AND STEERING RACK DUE TO THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY FAILED PUMP AT A COST OF $1,700. TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE PARTS HAVE TO BE ORDERED FROM CANADA AND WILL TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS TO COME IN!! THE FIRST REPLACEMENT PUMP'S 1 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED, SO ONCE AGAIN, I'M PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THIS PART AS A RESULT OF A "KNOWN PROBLEM." LAST FALL I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE SUNROOF LEAKING INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR DUE TO ANOTHER "KNOWN PROBLEM." GM NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO CORRECT THESE "KNOWN PROBLEMS." *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE RPM REVS UP AND THE ENGINE GEARS ARE NO LONGER ENGAGED. WE COULD ONLY DRIVE 30MPH TO PREVENT THE RPM'S FROM GOING TOO HIGH. ALSO, NO REVERSE GEAR. TOWED INTO GM DEALERSHIP AND TRANSMISSION BROKEN DOWN AND THE WAVE PLATE IS WHAT WAS DAMAGED. WAVE PLATE REPLACED AND GM REFUSED TO PAY FOR ALL OF REPAIR. SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM SINCE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WENT OUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THEY HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT, BUT STILL REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM GM ON THIS FAULTY PART SINCE THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT THAT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THESE MODEL'S TRANSMISSION. THE FOLLOWING IS THE SERVICE BULLETIN LISTED FOR THIS PROBLEM. REGARDING OUR 2008 OUTLOOK THAT WE PURCHASED IN AUGUST'12 - THE VEHICLE HAS 47K ON IT & HAD 39K WHEN WE PURCHASED IT FROM OUR BANK (A REPO'D CAR). ON 1/25/13 THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT LITERALLY IN MY DRIVEWAY. FIVE MINUTES PRIOR TO THAT, I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH SCHOOL AGED KIDS ON BOARD - I SHUTTER TO THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES. NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THIS EVER. (1/28/13) I CONTACTED GMC DIRECTLY, RECEIVED A CLAIM NUMBER FROM THEM, FOLLOWED THAT UP WITH A PHONE CALL TO A TOWING COMPANY & THEN THE GMC DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON IT'S WAY. RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP - DIAGNOSIS NEWS - WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION (WE WEREN'T SURPRISED). THE ESTIMATE WASN'T FULLY COMPLETED YET (NEVER A GOOD SIGN) & THEY WOULD CALL LATER WITH THE COST. I MISSED THAT LATER IN THE EVENING - I'D HAD ENOUGH & TALKING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WAS MAKING ME MADDER BY THE MINUTE. HOW CAN YOU CLAIM TO DO SUCH 'RIGOROUS TESTING' ON YOUR VEHICLES & THEN HAVE TRANSMISSION FAILURE HAPPEN IN A MATTER OF MINUTES WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER!! (1/29/13) I WAS INFORMED OF THE COST (I NEARLY HIT THE FLOOR) BUT WAIT - THEY WERE OFFERING A 10% DISCOUNT & I COULD GET A $200 VISA REBATE FROM GM - LIKE I'D WON A PRIZE OR SOMETHING. IS THIS SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT BETTER?! HOW ABOUT STANDING BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT?! THIS ISSUE WITH THE CLUTCH WAVE PLATE CAUSED MY ENTIRE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AS WELL AS MAJOR DAMAGE TO TRANSFER CASE THAT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE ENDSTATE WAS A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS THE TRANSFER CASE WITH A COST OF OVER $6K. THE MILEAGE ON THIS VEHICLE WAS 74,563 AND ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE CONDUCTED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT 65MPH ALMOST CAUSING AN MAJOR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE POWER TRAIN FAILURE. *TR
