THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE REVVED UP AND WOULD MAX OUT AT ABOUT 25 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON MY HAZARDS AND DRIVE INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ISSUE IS WITH A FAULTY WAVE PLATE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. *TR
WHEN STOPPED FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE (WHEN FOOT PUT ON THE ACCELERATOR). AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE CAR PROCEEDED FORWARD. UPON STOPPING THE CAR AGAIN, AND THEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AGAIN. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION (FOR A COST OF $5,019.05). THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. *TR
AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT IN RAIN (SUN ROOF CLOSED OF COURSE), WATER WAS NOTICED RUNNING DOWN THE A PILLAR AND OUT THE SUNVISOR BRACKETS AND POOLING ON THE FLOOR. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTICED THAT WATER IS BUILDING UP IN THE SUNROOF BRACKET/FRAME AND OVERFLOWING INTO THE VEHICLE. IT'S LIKELY THE SUNROOF DRAIN CHANNELS ARE CLOGGED. *TR
EVERY SINCE I HAVE HAD A RECALL FIXED...MY LIGHTS FLICKER ON THE DASH AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEEMING TO STAY IN ONE GEAR. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT IT MAY BE A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE BUT IT IS NOT A RECALL. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE FROM OTHER OUTLOOK OWNERS. *TR
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INCIDENT AS OF THIS WRITING. WE TOOK OUR 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK IN FOR AN INSPECTION DUE TO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS SHOWN AS OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT IF A PERSON SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR, THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY! I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR AND THAT IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1,200 TO FIX. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND JUDGING FROM THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, AND ON THE WEB IN GENERAL, THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL AT THIS TIME SEEMS UNBELIEVABLE AND UNFORTUNATE. RECENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER TO BE LOOKED AT I WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. TO REPLACE IT WILL COST AN UPWARD OF $400. ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLES STEERING CONSTANTLY SQUEALING, NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON. AND WHEN GOING AROUND TURNS THE STABILITY CONTROL MAKES A LOUD ABRUPT NOISE ALMOST STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE ALL THE PROBLEMS I'VE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE IN SUCH THE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME I'VE OWNED IT. I AM A PREGNANT MOTHER WITH 2 CHILDREN ALREADY AND I DO NOT TRUST THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE!! *TR
IN APRIL 2014, MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATOR BEGIN TO READ: "OFF" WHILE THE PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES IT SAYS "ON" AT FIRST, THEN SWITCHES TO "OFF". VERY FEW TIMES HAS IT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE APRIL. (NOW AUGUST 1ST). TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE SIDE AIRBAG RECALL AND WAS HOPING IT WAS RELATED TO THE PASSENGER SEAT.. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED IT WAS A TOTALLY SEPARATE ISSUE. COST TO JUST CHECK IT COST ME $105. 3 HOURS LATER, THE ADVISOR INFORMED ME IT WOULD COST OVER $500 OR MORE TO REPLACE. I DECLINED. SEEMS LIKE GM WOULD INCLUDE THIS AS A RECALL, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WITH VEHICLES INDICATING "OFF". KNOWING YOU DON'T HAVE A PRIMARY AIRBAG THAT DOESN'T DEPLOY, I WOULD THINK THIS WOULD BE AN EXTREMELY HIGH RISK ISSUE AND WOULD BE ON THE TOP OF GM'S LIST OF RECALLS? *TR
APPROXIMATELY APRIL OF 2014 WE HAD THE FIRST INCIDENT: WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AT SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO "POP" INTO NEUTRAL (NO CHANGE OF GEARSHIFT LEVER, JUST ENGINE REVVED). AS THE TRUCK NO LONGER HAD POWER, WE MANAGED (THANK GOODNESS) TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER AVOIDING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. MOVED GEARSHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE WITH NO CHANGE - ENGINE JUST REVVED AS IN NEUTRAL. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW. WHILE WAITING FOR SAME, WE TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON, AND TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO BOTH WIND GAP CHEVROLET (PLACE OF PURCHASE) AS WELL AS AN INDEPENDENT AAMCO - VERDICT WAS THE SAME: BROKEN "WAVE PLATE" AND A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED AT A COST OF OVER $3000.00. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO THIS DATE. WHEN WE REFERENCED THE ENDLESS ONLINE COMPLAINTS OF SAME, GM WAS UNMOVED, ALTHOUGH THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT. VERY DANGEROUS - LOSE POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH MULTIPLE CLOSE CALLS!!!! HEADLIGHTS: HEADLIGHTS, BOTH LOW AND HIGH BEAM, CONTINUALLY BURN ANYWHERE FROM MINUTES TO DAYS AFTER BEING REPLACED. SWITCH ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, CANNOT GET LOW BEAMS TO ILLUMINATE AT TIMES, THEN NO HEADLIGHTS AT TIMES. VERY DANGEROUS. AGAIN, ENDLESS ONLINE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. SUNROOF: ENDLESS ISSUES WITH THE SUNROOF LEAKING AND SOAKING THE FLOORBOARDS ON BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDES. TAKEN TO WIND GAP CHEVROLET, TOLD WE NEED TO HAVE SUNROOF REPLACED. AGAIN, ENDLESS ONLINE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. BASED ONLINE AND ON THIS NHTSA SITE: IT SEEMS THAT THESE ARE SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE!!!!! I PURCHASED A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK XR. THE DEALERSHIP SWORE THEY COULD FIX THE SUNROOF LEAK. AFTER 10 WEEKS AND RELEASING IT BACK TO ME 4 DIFFERENT TIMES. THEY HAVE YET TO FIX THE ISSUE. MY CAR IS FLOODED EVERY TIME IT RAINS. *TR
I HAD BEEN NOTICING THE SERVICE AIR BAG NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH BOARD. DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. BROUGHT IT INTO HAWTHORNE, NJ CHEVROLET AND THEY TOOK OUT THE SEATS AND TESTED THE CONNECTIONS AND CHARGED ME FOR THIS SERVICE. ABOUT 2-3 WKS LATER, THE SAME NOTICE CAME UP ON MY DASH BOARD. BROUGHT IT BACK INTO HAWTHORNE CHEVY AND THEY DID WHATEVER AND SAID THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME. I KEPT ASKING IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND EVERY TIME THE ANSWER WAS NO. IT IS NOW AUGUST AND THE SAME SERVICE AIR BAG NOTIFICATION HAS POPPED UP AGAIN. I WILL BE BRINGING IT BACK INTO CHEVY TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO. *TR
LAST WEEK WE HAD HEAVY RAIN AND RAIN BEGAN LEAKING INTO THE CAR NEAR THE FRONT PILLAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT APPEARED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. WHEN I HAD IT TESTED IT SHOWED IT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I PURCHASED THE BATTERY AND WENT TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. WHILE I WAS THERE I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS CORODED AND CLEANED THE CONNECTIONS. THE CAR CONTINUED TO REMAIN ON THROUGHOUT THE DAY UNTIL IT SEEMED TO DRY OUT. IT RAINED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED WHERE THERE WAS WATER LEAKING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE PILLAR NEAR THE AIR BAG. I NOTICED THE CAR STAYING ON ONE TIME AND THEN THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE AND FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER GM USERS. I AM CONCERNED NOT ONLY ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BUT POTENTIAL MOLD AND CONTACTED THE DEALER AS MANY NOTED THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN. THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST AS THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN OFFICIAL RECALL. SUNROOF LEAK: I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT GM HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A PROPER RECALL FOR THE ONGOING PROBLEM WITH LEAKY SUNROOFS! I CAN HEAR WATER "SWOOSHING AROUND" THE SUNROOF AFTER IT RAINS. IT HAS COMPLETELY DRENCHED MY WIFE (WHILE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT) AND IT LEAKS THROUGH THE AIRBAGS. I LITERALLY HAVE PUDDLES (ON THE DRIVER 'S SIDE) FLOOR IN MY VEHICLE AFTER IT RAINS! THE WATER LEAKING OUT WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND POSSIBLE MOLD SPORES DEVELOPING IS A HEALTH ISSUE! PLEASE RECALL! *TR
FAMILY ON VACATION OUT OF STATE WITH TWO ADULTS AND 3 CHILDREN. AT STOPLIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. WENT TO ACCELERATE AND ENGINE WOULD RUN HIGH RPM'S BUT NO VEHICLE MOVEMENT. FINALLY GOT THE VEHICLE TO MOVE SLOWLY AND BARELY MADE IT TO A LOCAL GAS STATION. COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. *TR
FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS A "SERVICE AIR BAG" MESSAGE APPEARS IN THE DIC AT START UP. ALSO THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARS IN THE DASH. THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND DISAPPEARS DURING TRAVEL. SOME DAYS THE MESSAGE DOES NOT APPEAR. I'VE SPOKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL. I HAVE SEEN IN THE NEWS AS OF MARCH 17, 2014 THAT THERE IS A RECALL COMING FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION AS OF APRIL 30, 2014. THANK YOU. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AND HYDRO-PLANED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE FIVE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WHO SUSTAINED INJURIES FROM BRUISING, CONTUSIONS AND LACERATIONS THAT REQUIRED STITCHES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V118000(AIR BAGS) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. MY AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON DISPLAY AWHILE BACK AND I WAS TOLD THAT GM WOULD ISSUE A RECALL BUT SINCE I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THEM I DECIDED TO CALL THEM AND THEY KEPT GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. I TOLD THEM OF MY CONCERNS AND FOR THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING IN THIS OUTLOOK BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MATTER TO THEM. THEY WERE NON-NONCHALANTLY TREATING MY PROBLEMS AS IF IT WERE NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM AND THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT MYSELF. (HE WAS BEING REAL SHARP WITH ME) SO MUCH THAT I COULD TELL IT WAS GOING TO END UP WITH ME RECEIVING NO HELP FROM HIM AND THE COMPANY. I WISH THAT THEY WOULD OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES AND FIX WHATS OBLIGATED TO THEM. GENERAL MOTORS LLC (GM) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2013 BUICK ENCLAVE AND GMC ACADIA AND 2009-2013 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AND 2008-2010 SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES. IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT MOUNTED SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG (SIAB) WIRING HARNESSES MAY RESULT IN THE SIAB AND SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. CONSEQUENCE: FAILURE OF THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS TO DEPLOY IN A CRASH INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT.
DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP DID NOT WORK ON MANY OCCASIONS OVER 1 1/2 YEARS. DEALER REPLACED BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER BULBS BUT DRIVERS SIDE WENT OUT AND DID NOT COME BACK ON. AN INSPECTION REVEALED A BURNT / MELTED CONNECTION AT THE BULB. *TR
TRANSMISSION STUCK IN GEAR. WOULD NOT SHIFT. SERVICE TECH FOUND METAL FILINGS IN TRANSMISSION AND ADVISED TO REPLACE WITH NEW. ($4700). RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THE TO BE COMMON WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. MY OPINION THAT GM SHOULD HAVE RECALLED IT OR PAY FOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR
NOTICED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THAT SLIGHT MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT OR LEFT CAUSED A WHINING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AREA. ONLY A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED THE CAR BUCKING WHEN SHIFTING IN THE LOWER GEARS AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. TWO DAYS AFTER THE LOWER GEAR SHIFTING ISSUES, I NOTICED THE CAR STUTTERED AND BUCKED WHEN I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND ATTEMPTED TO BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE CAR THREW A CODE - P0018 - WHICH MEANS "CRANK TO CAM INTAKE", ALONG WITH SAYING THE RACK AND PINION IS LEAKING AND COULD BE FIXED AT A COST OF $1700. AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND THEY RECOMMENDED BRINGING TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP TO GET THE BEST COST/SERVICE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT WILL COST. THE CAR ONLY HAS 54K MILES ON IT. OUR 5 YEAR/100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED IN SEPTEMBER 2013. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NOW IT APPEARS THE REPAIRS WILL COST A THIRD OF WHAT THE CAR IS CURRENTLY WORTH. THOSE SYSTEMS SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER SUCH LOW MILEAGE. *TR
IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR I TURNED MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK INTO HALEY GMC IN MIDLOTHIAN VA TO FIX A RECALL CONCERNING AN AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT THAT WAS ON IN THE CAR. AIR BAG RECALL 14030 WAS PERFORMED, HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON IN THE CABIN. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT HALEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED PER GM SPECIFICATIONS HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON DUE TO A FAULTY PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE (DIAGNOSTIC CODE: B0081). AT THE TIME OF THIS REPAIR I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UNDER THE GMPP (GENERAL MOTORS PROTECTION PLAN) WHICH WAS STILL VALID UNTIL AUGUST OF 2014 OR 107,000 MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST. I WAS TOLD BY GMPP THAT THIS MODULE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY CURRENT WARRANTY. SINCE THIS VISIT I HAVE TAKEN MY COMPLAINT THROUGH NOT ONLY THE DEALERSHIP BUT THROUGH CORPORATE GM ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS PLEADING WITH THEM THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. GM HAS STATED TO ME THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE AND THAT THIS PART IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WANT ME TO PAY THEM $900 FOR THIS REPAIR AND I REFUSE TO PAY THEM BECAUSE THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER GENERAL MOTORS. THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OTHER GM VEHICLES BESIDES THE SATURN OUTLOOK, INCLUDING THE GMC ACADIA AND SATURN SKY. I WOULD LIKE TO GET ASSISTANCE FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT IN CHALLENGING BACK TO GM TO GET THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED FOR I AM DRIVING AROUND IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT IF A PASSENGER IS TRAVELING WITH ME IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT GO OFF IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. *TR
THERE WAS NO INCIDENT YET. HOWEVER, AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR I REALIZED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR CONTINUED TO STAY ON THE OFF POSITION. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND CONFIRMED THAT YES IF SOMEONE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED ON MY WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST OVER 1,1000 DOLLARS TO FIX, I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. IT'S FUNNY THAT NO ONE WILL LOOK INTO THIS OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I HAVE CHILDREN AND I CAN'T BE SURE THAT THEY ARE SAFE IN A VEHICLE I JUST PURCHASED. I AM SO UPSET CONSIDERING THAT NISSAN JUST HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM SURE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS THIS ISSUE GOING ON WITH THEIR CAR. I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL WHEN MY POWER STEERING JUST STOPPED AND I HAD TO TRY AND DRIVE WITHOUT IT. GM HAS INFORMED ME THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2007 SATURN OUTLOOK AND THE 2009 SATURN OUTLOOK BUT MY 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK WAS NOT UNDER THE SAME RECALL EVEN THOUGH NOTHING IS DIFFERENT IN THE 2008 FROM THE 2007 OR 2009, IT HAS THE SAME ENGINE AND THE SAME TIMING CHAIN THAT QUALIFIED THE OTHER YEARS RECALLS. *TR
TRANSMISSION WENT BAD RIGHT AFTER 100000 MILES, REVERSE AND 3RD GEAR IS NOT WORKING. I AM ASKING TO GMC TO REPLACE IT SINCE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CASES WITH THE SAME SITUATION. *TR
FOUND A 4 INCH PIECE OF THE COIL SPRING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE DETERMINED THAT THE PIECE WAS FROM THE TOP OF THE COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IN THE REAR. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A SOMEWHAT COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE GM LAMBDA TYPE VEHICLE AS THERE WERE MANY REPORTS OF COIL SPRING FAILURE AT VARIOUS MILEAGES ON THE OUTLOOK AND THE OTHER LAMBDA MODELS. ALSO SAW A FEW PICTURES POSTED THAT LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE THE PIECE THAT BROKE OFF OF OUR OUTLOOK. BELIEVE WE ARE LUCKY THAT THE COIL SPRING FAILED WHERE IT DID BECAUSE IF THE FAILURE WAS AT A LOWER POINT PN THE SPRING WHILE WE WERE DRIVING THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A LOSS OF CONTROL RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT AND SERIOUS INJURY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND NO RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS PATENTLY DEFECTIVE PART. THIS MATTER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND GM SHOULD BE FORCED TO REPLACE THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WITH SPRINGS MANUFACTURED OF MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT PRONE TO BREAKING. *TR

2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. UPON INSPECTION, A CODE WAS RECEIVED FOR A CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE CONSUMER LEARNED THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED AT 51,000 ON APRIL 7, 2011, WHERE THE TIMING CHAIN AND CRANKSHAFT WERE REPLACED. ON AUGUST 23, 2013 THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.

THE STABILITRAC / TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE CAR BEGAN SHIFTING HARD AS WE BEGAN TO ENTER TRAFFIC, THE CAR THEN STARTED TO LOSE POWER WE GOT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY IN FEAR OF BEING HIT AND WENT TO THE DEALER WERE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING. GOT PULLED OVER AND WAS GIVEN A FIX IT TICKET. REPLACING THE BULB DIDN'T FIX IT. I'VE READ THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESS DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECT OR FAULTY EQUIPMENT WHICH SHOULDN'T BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER TO PAY TO FIX. DRIVING IN THE DARK WITHOUT A WORKING DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER WHICH IS WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL ONLY OVER THROTTLE BODY AND NOT VALVE COVER SINCE GM RE-DESIGNED THE VALVE COVERS! OBVIOUSLY GM KNOWS THE VALVE COVVERS FAIL!! MY PORTION OF REPAIR IS $1100. TUESADY WE RECEIVE A CALL AND ARE TOLD IT IS $1600 TO REPLACE A "BALL" IN THE TRANSMISSION. OOPS, THEY FORGOT THE TAX IN THE FIRST QUOTE; NOW $1800! WE GET A LOAN TO HAVE IT FIXED. THURSDAY WE RECEIVE A CALL AND NOW THERE ARE METAL SHAVINGS IN OUR FLUID THEY DIDN'T SEE BEFORE AND IT IS GOING TO BE $4300 FOR A RE-MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE AGENT AT ONE POINT LAUGHED AT ME AND SAID TO DO THE MINIMU REPAIR AND TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW VEHICLE!! OUR WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED IN JUNE, THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS IT HAS BEEN IN! ON NOVEMBER 28, 2013 WE EXPERIENCED OUR FIRST SYMPTOM THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT QUITE RIGHT ON OUR 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. UPON ACCELERATION OUR CAR STARTED TO REV EXCESSIVELY AT AROUND 35-40 MPH. WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO SWITCH GEARS OK IN EVERY OTHER GEAR...BUT REALLY STRUGGLED WHEN IN THE LOWER GEARS. WE BROUGHT IT INTO TO SEE IF POSSIBLY IT JUST NEEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AND WERE ADVISED AGAINST DOING THAT. INSTEAD, THEY TOPPED OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND OUR VEHICLE SEEMED TO RUN SMOOTHLY FOR EXACTLY ONE WEEK. AND THAN BOOM, WE HAD THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOM WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOWER GEARS AND THIS TIME IT HAD A BURNING TYPE SMELL. I WENT ONLINE AND, TO MY SURPRISE, FOUND PAGE AND PAGE OF DISCUSSIONS SURROUNDING TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE 2007 AND 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. IN ALL CASES, THE SYMPTOMS WERE IDENTICAL. IN ALL CASES, COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REBUILDS WERE THE ONLY SOLUTION. MOST VEHICLES WERE JUST OUTSIDE OF THEIR WARRANTY, BUT IN SOME CASES, THE MILEAGE WAS AS LOW AS 30,000. GM IS FULLY AWARE OF THE SITUATION, YET IS DOING NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE MATTER. THEY KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A FAULTY "WAVE PLATE" IN THESE CARS THAT IS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSIONS TO COMPLETELY BREAK DOWN. I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COULD NOT ENGAGE THE REVERSE OR DRIVE SETTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE VEHICLE OUT AND TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACE FOR $3600. THE VEHICLE IS ONE YEAR PAST THE WARRANTY BUT SHOULD NOT MATTER BECAUSE I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES OTHER THAN SATURN WITH MORE THAN 100K MILES AND NEVER HAD A TRANSMISSION GO OUT. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 67K MILES AND TO HAVE THE TRANS GO IS PATHETIC. I FEEL GM SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHO TO CALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN OTHER RECALLS LIKE THE WIPER ARM MOTOR THAT I REPLACED AND DID NOT KNOW IT WAS BEING RECALLED. THEREFORE, I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHERE I CAN SEND THE BILL FOR THAT. *TR
DRIVING TO A DOCTOR APPT AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO USE MY PHONE. PUT CAR IN PARK, ENGINE ON. SAT FOR 5 MIN, THEN PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND ENGINE REVVED AND REVVED BUT DID NOT MOVE BUT A FEW FEET. PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES. UPON RESTART, DROVE JUST FINE FOR ABOUT 20 MILES UNTIL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. WENT IMMEDIATELY TO HAVE TO CODE READ AT A NEARBY AUTO ZONE. GAVE 2 CODES, ONE ABOUT A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND THE 2ND ABOUT A COMPUTER SELF-REPAIR COMPLETED. NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN. THEN 3/5/14, AT NOW 71,000 MI OR SO, WHILE ENTERING THE ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY AND NOW IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, ENGINE REVVED AND CAR WENT MAYBE 25 MPH IF THAT. A LARGE BIG RIG SLAMMED ON ITS BRAKES AND SWERVED TO MISS REAR-ENDING US. CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. SAME PROBLEM-REVVED VERY HIGH AND WOULD GO ONLY 25-35 MPH IN DRIVE. HAD TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY! VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND SMOKING. TOWED TO MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT AS ALL THE GEARS WERE STRIPPED AND IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. GM DEALERSHIP SAID MANUFACTURER WARRANTY 5YR OR 100,000 MI JUST EXPIRED 2/13. $2,500-$3,500 IN COST...GRRRR! ALONG WITH A DUAL SUN/MOON ROOF LEAK! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN MY TRANSMISSION FAILED ON A VEHICLE THAT HAD ONLY 65,000 MILES AND WAS WELL MAINTAINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH DEALER RECOMMENDATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT BY THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITY THAT THEY HAD BEEN RECEIVING SATURN SUVS ON A REGULAR BASIS. EXACT QUOTE WAS WE HAVE BEEN GETTING "A TON" OF THESE VEHICLES WITH VERY LOW MILES. *TR
LOW BEAM PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WENT OUT AND I REPLACED THE LIGHT. TWO WEEKS LATER THE LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN, I MOVED THE CONNECTOR AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE LIGHT WORKED FOR TWO WEEKS AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN. I WENT TO CHANGE THE BULB AND IT SMELLED LINE BURNT PLASTIC. I REMOVED THE BULB AND THE CONNECTOR WAS BURNT ON ONE OF THE SIDES. THE WIRE WAS BARELY HANGING ON THE SIDE THE CONNECTOR WAS BURNT. THE WIRE HARNESS SEEMS VERY FLIMSY AND VERY POOR QUALITY. I'M VERY SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED OF THE POOR QUALITY OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THIS CAN ALSO POSSIBLY BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
SUNROOF DEFECT - HAVE OWNED VEHICLE SINCE OCT. 2010. NOV. 2013 WAS OUR FIRST SUNROOF LEAK, THINKING IT WAS A WINDSHIELD ISSUE. HAD THAT CHECKED OUT (AND, OF COURSE, CHARGED FOR A SEALING BY ABRA AUTO BODY), BUT A FEW WEEKS LATER, DEALERSHIP RAN THRU GARAGE CAR WASH AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OF LEAKING THRU SUNROOF, PASSENGER FRONT SIDE! THERE WAS DEFINITELY SOME WHOOSHING-WATER LIKE SOUNDS BEFORE THE FIRST FEW TIMES THE LEAK HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS TO HAVE CLEANED "DEBRIS" OUT OF THE TUBING MECHANISM. FIVE MONTHS LATER, THE LEAK IS BACK. NOT HAVING USED THE SUNROOF FOR MOST OF THAT TIME DUE TO WINTER, OF COURSE. FIRST REPAIR WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DID NOT REPAIR, BUT RATHER FIXED, WAS TO CLEAN OUT GUTTER/TUBING. NOW, MAY 2014 THE SAME ISSUE AND AGAIN, THEY CLEANED OUT TUBING AND PUT SOME SILICONE ON THE RUBBER GASKET AREA. WE REFUSED TO PAY FOR LABOR THIS TIME ($90) FOR THE SAME DEFECTIVE PROBLEM WHEN THE SUNROOF HADN'T BEEN USED. THE MANAGER RELUCTANTLY AGREED. IN ADDITION, THE MANAGER QUIZZED US WHETHER THE VEHICLE SAT INSIDE (99% INSIDE GARAGE) OR OUTSIDE. THIS SHOULD NOT MATTER. ALSO, SUGGESTED TOO NOT TO RUN IT THRU POWER CAR WASHES. WE DON'T MIND NOW HAVING TO CHECK TO KEEP "DEBRIS" OUT OF THE SUNROOF TRACK, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH ANY OF OUR OTHER OLDER AND NEWER VEHICLES WITH SUNROOFS. WE HAVE ALREADY SUNK A LOT OF MONEY INTO THIS VEHICLE UNFORTUNATELY AND DON'T FEEL WE SHOULD HAVE TO YET AGAIN PAY FOR A DEFECTIVE DESIGN BY GM WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHICH IT WILL. I HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED AN EMAIL TO SATURN (CAC@SATURN.COM), GM (SOCIALMEDIA@GM.COM) AND WWW.SATURNFORUMOUTLOOK.NET. THE LATER IS HELPFUL IN THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE WITH YOUR VEHICLE COMPLAINTS AND BATTLES. IN FACT, MANY AT THIS SITE HAVE BEEN CHARGED WELL OVER $500 TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE TUBING. SHAME ON GM! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SEPARATED WHILE HE DROVE IN THE RAIN AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC WHO FOUND THAT THE WINDSHIELD MOTOR LINKAGE BOLT SEPARATED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BOLT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V410000 (VISIBILITY). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
MY CAR HAS 89,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT YESTERDAY. I WAS TRAVELING AT 57MPH WHEN THE CARS ENGINE REVVED TO 7 RPMS, AND THEN SLOWED TO 30 MPH. I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 25-30 MPH. IT'S GONNA COST NEARLY $4,000 TO FIX AND THE "5YR" WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MARCH. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM FOR MAKING SUCH A TERRIBLE TRANSMISSION. SO MANY PROBLEMS AND VERY LITTLE HELP WITH THE PROBLEM! *TR
