PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, SEAT SWITCH OR WHATEVER INTERMITTENT FOR ALONG WHILE. WORKED MOST OF TIME. NOW HAS 100000 ON IT. TOOK IN JAN. 24, 2015, FOR RECALL ON CONNECTOR DID NOT FIX, NOW DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. AT LEAST BEFORE I TOOK IT IN IT WORKED MOST OF THE TIME. NOW GET MESSAGE SERVICE AIR BAG, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT ON MOST OF THE TIME. TALKED TO SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE, JUST GOT RUN AROUND AND NO HELP. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK AWD VEHICLE, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON (AFTER REPLACING MY FACTORY SUPPLIED GAS CAP WHICH HAD BROKEN WITH A GENERIC ONE) AND THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION BECAME SLUGGISH AND SLOW IN RESPONSE. ON 22 JAN 2015 I DROVE MY VEHICLE (VEH) ABOUT 1/2 MILE, STOPPED AT A STORE, PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT, RETURNED TO MY VEH STARTING IT UP AND TRYING TO PLACE THE VEH IN REVERSE TO NO AVAIL. I PLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER IN PARK, TRIED REVERSE AGAIN AND NOTHING. EACH TIME I TRIED TO PLACE THE VEH IN REVERSE AND APPLY THE GAS I WOULD ONLY HEAR THE REVVING OF THE VEH'S ENGINE. I COULD PUT THE VEH IN DRIVE AND MOVE FORWARD HOWEVER, MY VEH'S TIRES WERE AGAINST THE SIDEWALK (CURB). I WAS ABLE TO ROCK THE VEH TO AN ANGLE, DRIVE OVER THE SIDEWALK AND DRIVE TO MY HOUSE AND PARK THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, I LEARNED THAT A PART KNOWN AS THE: 3, 5, REVERSE WAVE PLATE HAD GONE BAD AND IT WOULD COST $2500 TO REPAIR (NOT INCLUDING THE PARTS). AS I SEARCHED ON-LINE (GMC, NHTSA.GOV, AND OTHER INTERNET FORUMS) I LEARNED THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. I READ REPORTS OF OTHER 2007, 2008, OUTLOOK, ACADIA, AND TRAVERSE VEHICLES (ALL GMC) ALL HAVING EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. TIME AFTER TIME THE MALFUNCTION INVOLVED NO NEGLIGENCE ON BEHALF OF THE VEH DRIVER, MERELY DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE. IN MOST OF THESE INCIDENTS, THE VEH OWNER INFORMED GMC ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS PART COSTING APPROX. $20 HAS DONE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO COUNTLESS VEH. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THERE ARE TOO MANY CONSUMERS AFFECTED BY THIS FAULTY $20 PART THAT BREAKS APART AND DAMAGES YOUR TRANSMISSION. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND TRY AND GET SOME MONETARY RELIEF FOR THESE AFFECTED CONSUMERS. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE, DRIVE, AND WAS SHIFTING HARD. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH FOUND NUMEROUS LIKE FAILURES FOR SATURN OUTLOOK, GMC ACADIA. BIG SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS FORTUNATE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. PLEASE REVIEW FAILURE RATES AND PROPOSE GM RECALL TRANSMISSIONS FOR FAILURES. *TR
AFTER A NIGHT OF SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES, I TURNED MY CAR ON IN THE GARAGE TO WARM UP PRIOR TO LOADING MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN WE WERE ALL SET, I PULL OUT OF THE GARAGE AND CONTINUE TO LEAVE THE DRIVEWAY DOWN THE STREET WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN MY CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE AND MY DASHBOARD PANEL STARTS COMMUNICATING MULTIPLE ERRORS, INCLUDING "ENGINE POWERED DOWN", "SERVICE STABILITRACK", "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" AS WELL AS THE ENGINE LIGHT GOING ON. WHILE ALL THIS IS GOING ON, MY CAR STOPS EXCELLING AND LITERALLY STOPS ME ON THE ROAD ONLY ALLOWING ME TO ACCELERATE TO 1 RPM AND MAYBE GOING 5 MILES AT MOST. AFTER SLOWLY MANEUVERING OUT OF TRAFFIC, I TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES WITHOUT ANY LUCK. AFTER TALKING TO A SERVICE TECHNICIAN, I WAS GOING TO GET IT TOWED FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF WHILE I WAS TALKING TO THEN, AND THEN RANDOMLY TURNED IT BACK ON SINCE IT WAS COLD, AND ALL THE ERRORS WENT AWAY AND THE CAR WAS MOVING PROPERLY. AFTER ANOTHER DAY OF DRIVING IT, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND AS I EXITED ON THE RAMP AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT, THE WHOLE PROCESSED HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD TO TAKE IT IN AT THIS POINT, SINCE I FELT EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE, KNOWING IT COULD STOP OPERATING RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING. IT TURNS OUT THAT IT GENERATED AN ENGINE POWER DOWN CODE BECAUSE THE THROTTLE WAS AFFECTED. CODE P1516. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) OUT FOR THIS APPARENT ISSUE, BUT I AM UNCERTAIN HOW THIS ISN'T A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER MODELS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING IT, CONSIDERING IT LITERALLY STOPS YOUR CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR, I WAS EXTREMELY SCARED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. IF YOU CAR STOPS OPERATING PROPERLY WHEN DRIVING THAT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD FOR YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. *TR
HAVE HAD SEVERAL LEAKS, TOOK IT TO GM DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND IT COST ME $1,600, STILL LEAKING, TOOK IT BACK TO GM DEALERSHIP PAID $1,300, STILL LEAKING. VEHICLE ON HAS 57, 000 MILES I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION. THAT IS WHY I TOOK IT IN THE FIRST PLACE GM SERVICE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT, AND RIP-OFF TO ITS CUSTOMERS. WILL NOT RECOMMEND EITHER ONE OF THESE DEALERSHIP IN MASSACHUSETTS, UNLESS THEY CAN PROVE QUALITY SERVICE. CURRENTLY, STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT CAN NOT AFFORD TO SPEND ANOTHER PENNY, WILL HAVE TO RESULT TO WALKING, SOMETHING I CANNOT PHYSICAL ABLE TO DO ON LONG STRETCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRANSMISSION HOT MESSAGE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG AND SERVICE AIR BAG INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEYES CHEVROLET (5943 VAN NUYS BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 91401, 818-254-8277) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODULAR KIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSES RUPTURED AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE HOSES BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE HOSES WITH OEM PARTS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL PUMP AND THE RACK AND PINION BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WATER IS ENTERING THE CABIN WHEN IT RAINS, SATURATING THE CEILING TO THE POINT OF DRIPPING. ALSO, THE CARPETING, AND FLOOR MATS ARE SOAKED. I ALSO NOTICED WATER IN THE MOTOR BLOWER AREA. MAY BE LEAKING FROM SEVERAL AREAS. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME, SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THAT IT HAS BEEN LEFT OUT IN THE RAIN OVER NIGHT. I'VE WASHED THE VEHICLE, DRIVEN IN RAIN, AND NEVER NOTICED ANYTHING WRONG. THE TIME OF EXPOSURE MUST HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH HOW MUCH WATER GETS IN (OBVIOUSLY). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO SHIFT GEARS AND JERKED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE 35R WAVE PLATE FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEED COMING TO A STOP, BUT THE VEHICLE WAVE PLATE IN TRANSMISSION BROKE CAUSING THE VEHICLE STOP COULD NOT MOVE IT. HAD TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD. GM HAS INSTALLED A BAD WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSIONS FOR SATURN, GMC AND CHEVY SUV. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAVE PLATE THAT HAVE FAILED. ONCE THE PLATE BREAKS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE, WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
PASSENGER AIRBAG SEAT SENSOR/MODULE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE A PASSENGER IN NO MATTER THE WEIGHT.DEALERSHIP WANTS $900 FOR NEW PART. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY GM. *TR
THE SUN ROOF LEAKS AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER HAD COLLECTED INSIDE THE BATTERY TERMINAL WHICH IS LOCATED UNDER AND BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT. SINCE THEN, WATER CONTINUES TO LEAK IN FROM THE SUN ROOF "TUBES" WHICH HAVE BEEN CLEANED OUT SEVERAL TIME. I HAVE HAD WATER THAT PUDDLES UNDER THE CARPETING IN THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT AND HAS EFFECTED THE ELECTRICAL. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INSTANCES POSTED AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF FOLKS WHO HAVE ALSO DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE. IT'S A SHAME THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. GM HAS NO RESOLUTION AND THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES $50 TO "BLOW OUT THE LINES" I.E. USING AN AIR HOSE TO BLOW AIR THROUGH THE TUBES. IT'S OBVIOUS THE SUN ROOF IS NOT PROPERLY SEALED AND THE TUBES (DRAINS AS THEY ARE REFERRED TO BY THE DEALERSHIP) ARE NOT FULL PROOF. THE WATER ALSO LEAKS FROM THE SIDE AIRBAG CURTAINS AND THE SUN ROOF CONTROL PANEL
DASHBOARD INFORMATION CENTER WARNINGS OF STABILITRACK AND SERVICE BRAKES WITH AUDIBLE CHIMES DURING DRIVING. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO BRAKE BOOSTER. NO EVIDENCE OF BRAKE LEAK EVER. SEEMS TO BE ONGOING FAILURE WITH THIS MODEL OF ALL OF GM PRODUCT LINES AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATOR SHOWED OFF WHEN A (HEAVY ENOUGH) PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED, THEY SAID I NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE (DONE WITHOUT ASKING FOR A COST OF $62.98). WHEN I CALLED GM, THEY SAID AIRBAGS WERE MY RESPONSIBILITY AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD ENDED. SHOULDN'T THEY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SOFTWARE PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS. I HAVE ONSTAR, IF A SOFTWARE ISSUE WAS OCCURRING, IT SEEMS THEY WOULD TELL ME. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WHEN PROMPTED AND THE IGNITION KEY BECAME STUCK IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. OCTOBER 16, 2014 TRANSMISSION 6T75 AWD FAILED. INTO SHOP 10/17/14. COST $4281.45 FOR TRANSMISSION PLUS $366.53 FOR CAR RENTAL. [HAVE BILLS] TRANSMISSION WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE DUE TO LOSS OF ALL GEARS EXCEPT 6TH GEAR. MARCH 2015 RECEIVED LETTER FROM GM STATING "THIS LETTER IS INTENDED TO MAKE YOU AWARE THAT SOME 2008 MODEL YEAR SATURN OUTLOOK VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A CRACKED OR FRACTURED WAVE PLATE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF 3RD, 5TH AND REVERSE GEARS. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE ALL EQUIPPED WITH A 6T70 OR 6T75 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND FWD OR AWD." THE LETTER WENT ON TO SAY "IF YOU HAVE PAID FOR REPAIRS FOR THE CONDITION DESCRIBED IN THIS LETTER, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ENCLOSED REIMBURSEMENT FORM AND PRESENT IT TO YOUR DEALER WITH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. IF THIS IS NOT CONVENIENT, YOU MAY MAIL THE COMPLETED REIMBURSEMENT FORM AND ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO REIMBURSEMENT DEPARTMENT, PO BOX 33170, DETROIT, MI 48232. I SUBMITTED TWO FORMS ON APRIL 11, 2015, ONE FOR THE TRANSMISSION [$4281.45 & ONE FOR THE RENTAL CAR WHILE SATURN BEING REPAIRED [$366.53]. MAY 22, 2015 BOTH CLAIMS WERE REJECTED BY GM. REASON GIVEN: "THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE THE TIME AND MILEAGE PARAMETERS OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ACTION PROGRAM. TO ME THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AND/OR HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY LOOSING YOUR TRANSMISSION [MOMENTUM/VEHICLE SPEED] CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND OTHER VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMATELY. THERE SHOULD NOT BE "TIME AND MILEAGE PARAMETER" THAT HAS BEEN SUBJECTIVELY IMPOSED BY GM IN ORDER TO AVOID RESPONSIBILITY FOR POOR ENGINEERING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, A LOUD ABNORMAL SQUEAKY NOISE EMITTED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY SATURN 2008 OUTLOOK I FELT SOMETHING "SLIP" AND MY CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE. I WOULD ACCELERATE ON THE GAS WHICH WOULD JUST CAUSE THE ENGINE TO REV. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON(THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ALREADY ON). I WAS BASICALLY STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD IT MAY BE TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND WILL COST APPROX. $2500.00. AFTER RESEARCHING I HAVE NOTICED I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE ISSUES. A RECALL IS IN ORDER AFTER READING ABOUT THE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE! 77000 MILES AND WE HAVE THIS ISSUE. WE HAVE A 2007 HYUNDAI WHICH WE HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH! *TR
WHILE PARKED ON A RESIDENT DRIVEWAY, IT WAS RAINING FOR AWHILE THERE AND RAIN CAME THRU BOTH SIDE FRAMES FROM THE WINDSHIELD INNER PILLAR PANELS AND WAS DRIPPING ON THE FLOOR MATS AND WENT THRU THE CARPET AND SOAK THE FLOOR, IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME IT RAINS IT COMES THROUGH LIKE THAT, SMELL LIKE BURNT WIRES CAME OUT ON OUR WAY BACK HOME. *TR
AT START UP THE DIC SHOWS A "SERVICE AIR BAG" MESSAGE'. AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MILES THE MESSAGE WILL DISAPPEAR. THE MESSAGE WILL APPEAR AND DISAPPEAR WHILE MOVING. A RED WARNING LIGHT ALSO APPEARS IN THE SPEEDOMETER. A GM RECALL 14030 APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING BUT MY VEHICLE ISN'T INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS JUST TURNED 26,00 MILES. IT HAS HAD A FEW RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
ABOUT EVERY 5 MIN BEEPING SOUND WOULD SOUND AND DASHBOARD STATED,SERVICE AIR BAG,SERVICE BRAKES/STABILIZER & WOULD CUTOFF CRUISE CONTROL.HEADLIGHTS VERY DIM AT NIGHT. *TR
WATER LEAKS INTO MY VEHICLE FROM A VARIETY OF LOCATIONS. ONE THROUGH THE BACK-UP DISTANCE INDICATOR IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, DOWN THE INSIDES OF THE DOOR PANELS ONTO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR, AND DOWN THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. MY CAR STARTED NOT TURNING OFF WHEN I WOULD TURN THE IGNITION OFF WITH THE KEY AND PULL IT OUT. I BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE FIXED 5 LEAKS IN THE SUNROOF DRAINS. NOW MY BLOWER MOTOR WON'T WORK, BUT MY CAR DOES TURN OFF AGAIN WHEN I WANT IT TO. WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE AIR BAG RECALL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THAT SPECIFIC RECALL SERVICE, HOPING THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD ADDRESS A LONG-STANDING, BUT INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG ERROR MESSAGE THAT COINCIDES WITH SOMEONE SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE AIR BAG RECALL WORK, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG CONTINUES TO INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN MY WIFE OR ADULT SON SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WE INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP AND RESCHEDULED A SERVICE VISIT. WE WERE INFORMED TODAY THAT THE ERROR IS LIKELY ATTRIBUTED TO A BAD "PRESENCE SENSOR" IN THE SEAT, WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. MY HUSBAND REACHED OVER AND WE BOTH TRIED WITH ALL OUR MIGHT TO TURN TO MAKE IT BACK TO THE CABIN WE WERE STAYING AT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMED THIS HAD HAPPENED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THE NEXT MORNING AS WE WERE NOT SURE WE WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT DOWN THE CURVY ROADS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN. NO DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA WERE OPEN WITH IT BEING A HOLIDAY (JULY 4TH) WEEKEND. THEY CONNECTED ME WITH A DEALERSHIP IN ILLINOIS WHO GAVE SOME ADVICE. WE STARTED OUT OK, BUT AS WE GOT FARTHER DOWN (15 MINUTE DRIVE FROM OUR CABIN TO THE BOTTOM) IT GOT VERY HARD AGAIN. WE WOULD SLOW DOWN WAY BEFORE THE CURVE SO THAT WE COULD ACCELERATE THROUGH THE CURVE AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WE SAFELY MADE IT OUT OF TOWN. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE LED US TO BELIEVE THEY WOULD COVER MOST OF THE $1400 IN REPAIRS AS THE PARTS MAY HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE SAME FACTORY AS OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS TYPE OF RECALL. THE CAR WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH ON RT168 CHESAPEAKE EXPRESSWAY AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN A REAR-END COLLISION. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS WE EXPERIENCED HARD SHIFTS GOING INTO 3RD GEAR AND 5TH GEAR. ON 6/25/2014, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE, SO WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE PRIORITY CHEVY. WE WERE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED, AND A NEW ONE WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, AND FOUND MANY OTHER DRIVERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. I ALSO CONTACTED A NATIONAL TRANSMISSION CHAIN, AND THEY ALSO REPORTED SEEING AN INCREASED NUMBER OF TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH SATURN OUTLOOKS, SOME OF WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN CRASHES DUE TO THE HARD SHIFTING. *TR
TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT UPSHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR. ENGINE WAS WARM AND HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 6 MILES. I WAS ACCELERATING TO REACH HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN THE LEFT LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AS IT TRIED TO GO FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT. I LIMPED THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY (MUCH SLOWER THAN THE TRAFFIC HONKING AND TRYING TO AVOID HITTING ME) AND COULD ONLY GET THE GEARS TO REENGAGE AFTER COMPLETELY POWERING DOWN THE CAR AND CUTTING ALL AUXILIARY POWER. THEN AFTER RESTART, THE GEARS WORKED PROPERLY AGAIN. AFTER TRANSMISSION TEARDOWN, WE HAVE IDENTIFIED THAT THE WAVE PLATE HAS BROKEN LOSE AND ADDITIONALLY DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. *TR
I WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER THAT WAS ON THE ROAD. ABOUT 2-3 MINUTES AFTER GOING THROUGH THE PUDDLE MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER AS THE BATTERY LIGHT WENT OUT ALSO. *TR I WAITED ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND THE STEERING WAS RESTORED. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT OTHER 2008 SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A REPAIR BULLETIN NUMBER 07-03-32-010. WHICH STATED THAT WATER WOULD GET IN THIS ENGINE CAUSING THE ABOVE MENTIONED CONDITION AND THAT GM RECOGNIZED THIS FLAW AND ADDED AN MUDGUARD IN SUBSEQUENT YEAR MODELS. I CALLED GM AND THEY HAD NO INFORMATION ON THIS SERVICE BULLETIN AND SUGGESTED I GO TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE. *TR

SOMETIMES IF YOU MOVE AROUND IN THE SEAT OR GET OUT AND THEN GET BACK IN IT WILL COME ON BUT THERE ARE NOT GUARANTEES. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A SENSOR IN THE SEAT AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY $900 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR SO THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL ACTUALLY FUNCTION. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE A 'SAFETY RECALL". IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH A RIDICULOUS PRICE TAG FOR FIXING. AN UNAFFORDABLE PRICE FOR ANY AVERAGE PERSON! IF THE COMPANY CARES ABOUT SAFETY THEY WILL PUT OUT A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. IN ADDITION I NOTICED ON SEVERAL SITES THAT EVEN AFTER THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED THAT THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. I JUST LEFT MY 2008 OUTLOOK XR AT THE DEALER. ACCORDING TO THEM THE PROBLEM ARE THE TUBES THAT DRAIN THE WATER FROM THE SUNROOF. THESE TUBES RUN INSIDE THE FRONT AND REAR COLUMNS (ON THE SIDES THE WINDSHIELD IN THE FRONT AND THE SIDE COLUMNS ON THE BACK OF THE CAR). THESE TUBES ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE THE WATER UNTIL THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR SO THE WATER WILL LEAK INTO THE INNER FUSE BLOCK, WILL DAMP THE CARPETS ON THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES AND MAKE MUCH MORE DAMAGE THAN YOU CAN BELIEVE. AS THE INSULATOR BETWEEN THE CARPET AND THE FLOOR IS LIKE A SPONGE, IT WILL ABSORB THE WATER AND SOAKS ALL THE CONNECTORS THAT RUN BELOW THE INSULATOR (CABLES THAT RUN FROM THE BATTERY, TO THE SEATS MOTORS AND HEATER, ETC, ETC). NOT TO MENTION THAT IT MAY DAMAGE THE AIRBAG TRIGGERS MECHANISMS LOCATED ON THE COLUMNS BESIDES THE WINDSHIELD?.BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT THE INTERNET, WHY NOBODY HAS DONE ANYTHING YET? THE PROBLEM STARTS WITH HEAVY RAIN LEAKING THROUGH THE SUN ROOF. ACCORDING TO THE ED MORSE DEALERSHIP REPRESENTATIVE, THE SUNROOF IS PROJECTED TO PASS SOME WATER (VERY FEW) THAT WILL DRAIN THROUGH THE DRAIN TUBES LOCATED AT THE FRONT AND REAR COLUMNS (SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD). HOWEVER, THE TUBES MAY GET CLOGGED AN THE WATER STARTS LEAKING INSIDE THE CAR THROUGH THE COLUMNS WERE AIRBAG ARE LOCATED. NEVERTHELESS, THESE TUBES ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE THE WATER UNTIL THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR SO THE WATER WILL LEAK INTO THE INNER FUSE BLOCK, WILL DAMP THE CARPETS ON THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES AND MAKE MUCH MORE DAMAGE THAN YOU CAN BELIEVE. AS THE INSULATOR BETWEEN THE CARPET AND THE FLOOR IS LIKE A SPONGE, IT WILL ABSORB THE WATER AND SOAKS ALL THE CONNECTORS THAT RUN BELOW THE INSULATOR (CABLES THAT RUN FROM THE BATTERY, TO THE SEATS MOTORS AND HEATER, ETC, ETC). NOT TO MENTION THAT IT MAY DAMAGE THE AIRBAG TRIGGERS MECHANISMS LOCATED ON THE COLUMNS BESIDES THE WINDSHIELD?.BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT THE INTERNET, WHY NOBODY HAS DONE ANYTHING YET? WHAT IF THE FRONT SIDES AIRBAG DOES NOT DEPLOY AS EXPECTED DUE TO THIS RAIN INSIDE THE CAR????? NHTSA SHOULD SERIOUSLY INQUIRE GM FOR THAT AS IT MAY PUT MANY LIVES AT RISK. AND NOT ONLY TO SATURN OUTLOOK OWNERS. WHILE DRIVING TRUCK STARTED SLIPPING REALLY BAD. DROVE TO A O'REILLY AND CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IT WAS GOOD. THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A FLUKE, STARTED THE TRUCK BACK UP AND IT WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE. TRANSMISSION DONE! *TR
MY OUTLOOK WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED BUT DIDN'T. THERE WAS LOTS OF SMOKE, SMELL AND POWDER AS IF THEY HAD GONE OFF BUT NEVER DID. THIS WAS AFTER THE SUPPOSED AIRBAG RECALL HAD BEEN FIXED. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS VEHICLE IN THE 3 SHORT MONTHS I HAVE OWNED IT!! *TR
PLASTIC T CONNECTORS FOR WASHER FLUID NOZZLES HAVE BROKEN OFF LEAVING THEM TO SPRAY WASHER FLUID OVER THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WIPER ARMS HAVE INADEQUATE PRESSURE TO CREATE A CLEAN WIPING PATTERN WITH ANY BRAND OF WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THESE TWO PROBLEMS COMBINE TO CREATE A SERIOUS VISUAL IMPAIRMENT ESPECIALLY IN MISTING OR WET PAVEMENT SCENARIOS. *TR
