WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE LOWER LEFT UP TO THE RIGHT. NO KNOWN IMPACT. DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THERE WAS AN IMPACT FROM THE OUTSIDE.
AFTER 2 YEARS OF USE, THE OEM BATTERY WAS NOT KEEPING THE CHARGE OR WAS DRAINING DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR JUMPED A COUPLE OF TIMES TO GET IT STARTED. BROUGHT THE CAR TO SUBARU DEALER AND THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES BUT REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH ANOTHER OEM BATTERY, QUITE UNUSUAL UNTIL I READ AN ARTICALE ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST SUBARU. IN 2020, THE NEW OEM BATTERY WAS HAVING ISSUES REQUIRING I JUMP IT SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS AWAY FROM HOME AT THE TIME AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO ADVANCED AUTO PARTS. THEY TESTED THE 2ND OEM BATTERY AND ADVISED THE BATTERY WAS BAD AND NOT HOLDING THE CHARGE. AT THAT TIME I PURCHASED A DIEHARD BATTERY AND HAVE HAD NO ISSUES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. AS I STATED ABOVE, I HAVE READ THAT SUBARU IS IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THE EXACT ISSUE I HAD AND WANTED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RECORDED.
WINDSHIELD CHIPS/CRACKS WITH NO KNOWN CAUSE.
CRACK IN WINDSHIELD
WHILE DRIVING MY NORMAL WORK COMMUTE DOWN A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD AT 47MPH'NO ROCKS SEEN OR OTHER CARS PRESENT'MY WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED 12 INCHES, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. LAST WEEK'IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPOT'THE WINDSHIELD GOT A LARGE CHIP IN IT FROM A TINY PEBBLE FLUNG UP BY A TRUCK. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM SUBARU DEALERSHIP 1 MONTH AGO. IT SEEMS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT I WILL HE INJURED FROM THE FAULTY WINDSHIELD IN AN ACCIDENT, FROM A ROCK, OR FOR NO APPARENT REASON. SUBARU DENIED THERE WAS IN ISSUE DESPITE A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN NEW JERSEY, AND TONS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. DESPITE RESEARCH, I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY MODEL OR I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED.
TL* THE CONTACT'S WIFE OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 35 MPH THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, AN OBJECT HIT THE LOWER LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WHICH LEFT TWO IMPRINTS ON THE WINDSHIELD. OVER TIME, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD GLASS WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED AND THAT THE SIZE OF THE OBJECT THAT HIT HIS WIFE'S WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THAT SEVERE OF DAMAGE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CRACK THAT FORMED OVER THE WINDSHIELD HAD OBSTRUCTED HIS WIFE'S VISION WHILE DRIVING. ROY ROBINSON SUBARU (6001 33RD AVE NE, MARYSVILLE, WA 98271) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY REFERRED THE CONTACT TO AN INDEPENDENT GLASS CENTER TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.
BATTERY GOES DEAD OVERNIGHT. IN 2019 I EXPERIENCED A DEAD BATTERY ON MY OUTBACK. IT HAPPENED IN EARLY 2020. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AROUND MAY OF THIS YEAR. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL DEALER AND LEFT FOR 2 DAYS. DEALER UPDATED ECO AND SAID THAT SHOULD FIX IT, FAIL INAGAIN IN JULY 2020 AND AGAIN TODAY 9-15-2020
IN NOVEMBER 2019 I HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY WHICH WAS REPLACED FOR FREE BY SUBARU IN CHANDLER, AZ AND WAS GUARANTEED FOR 30 MONTHS, IN SEPTEMBER 2020, I HAD TO REPLACE MY BATTERY AGAIN WHICH WAS INSTALLED BY SUBARU IN CHANDLER, AZ FOR FREE AND GUARANTEED FOR 30 MONTHS. I DID A SEARCH ON FAULTY BATTERIES ON SUBARU AND FOUND THE BELOWS INFORMATION.. SO I DECIDED TO FILE A REPORT. " SUBARU IS HIT WITH A NEW LAWSUIT ALLEGING THE 2016-2020 SUBARU OUTBACK AND 2019-2020 ASCENT HAVE DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CAUSING PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURE. WHAT SHOULD OWNERS DO IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES?"
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, WHEN A CRACK APPEARED ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK WAS CAUSED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,500.
MULTIPLE BATTERY FAILURES- BATTERY DIES REPEATEDLY. HAVE REPLACED 4 TIMES ALREADY. LAST DEAD BATTERY IS TODAY WITH IT HAVING DIED LAST WEEK AS WELL. THIS WILL BE 3RD BATTERY IN LESS THAN A YEAR.SOMETIMES HEADLIGHT WILL DIMLY FLASH OR THERE WILL BE A THUMPING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE BACK, POSSIBLY THE TAILGATE. OTHER TIMES IT IS DEAD NEXT DAY WHEN GOING TO START IT AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVEN THE PREVIOUS DAY. KEYS ARE NOT KEPT IN CAR.
THE REAR VIEW MIRROR FELL OFF BECAUSE THE GLASS SEPARATED WHERE THE MIRROR ATTACHES TO THE WINDSHIELD.
I BOUGHT THE CAR 25 JUNE 2020 AND 3 DAYS INTO IT I GOT A CHIP GOING THEU AN AUTOMATED CAR WASH I CALLED SAFELITE AND THE INS COMPANY AND THEY REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD AND OUT OF NOWHERE I GET A CRACK COMING UP FROM BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD ON DRIVERS SIDE GOING UP TO WIPER AREA THE CAR SAT FOR 2 DAYS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHILE I DROVE MY OTHER VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS FLORIDA HEAT IS BRUTAL I BELIEVE THIS IS A FAULTY WINDSHIELD YOU CANT SEE IT WELL UNLESS YOUR IN DRIVER SEAT OR CLEANING WINDSHIELD AD I AM OCD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO SEPARATE CRACKS HAD FORMED ON THE WINDSHIELD WITHOUT INCIDENT OR IMPACT. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CRACK HAD FORMED ON THE MIDDLE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED HOWEVER, ANOTHER CRACK HAD FORMED ON THE LOWER DRIVER SIDE OF THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD, WITHOUT INCIDENT OR IMPACT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACKS OBSTRUCTED HER VIEW WHILE DRIVING. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. *DT
THE BATTERY IS DISCHARGING RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY. NO DOORS OR HATCH ARE LEFT OPEN AND EVERYTHING IS TURNED OFF WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED. THE CAR CAN BE JUMPED AND THE BATTERY RECHARGED, ONLY TO HAVE IT DISCHARGE AGAIN AFTER A FEW DAYS TIME. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS.
THE BATTERY ON MY 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK KEEPS DRAINING AND GOING DEAD. THIS IS THE FOURTH BATTERY GONE DEAD IN FOUR YEARS. LAST ONE ONLY LASTED LITTLE OVER THREE MONTHS. WE REPLACED WITH BRAND NEW FACTORY BATTERY AT END OF MAY. TODAY IN SEPTEMBER 7TH. BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD AS I TRY TO START THE VEHICLE. LAST TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SUBARU DEALER. THEY SAID EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL WAS OK ON THE CAR. TECHNICIAN SAID THE BACK DOME LIGHT WAS ON. THIS TIME I CHECKED THE DOME LIGHT AND IT WAS ON OFF POSITION. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOME KIND OF ELCTRICAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT IS CAUSING THE BATTERIES TO DIE.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE ROAD A TINY PEDDLE OFF A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME HIT THE WINDSHIELD CREATING A VERY SUBTLE CRACK. THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A HUGE CRACK ALONG THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD AFFECTING DRIVER VISIBILITY. I CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE PICTURES BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED BY THE SUBARU DEALER. THE TOTAL COST WAS OVER $1,000 TO REPLACE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS VEHICLE COMPLAINT WEBSITE AT THE TIME.
RECURRENT BATTERY DEAD PROBLEM; THEN FINALLY NOT CHARGING AT ALL ; DESPITE OF BATTERY BEING FULL DEALER ALWAYS DOING THINGS TO THE SYSTEM WITH UPDATES ; AND NEVER ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT FROM ROAD DEBRIS. CAR WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH ON A RURAL ROAD. WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON 9/16/20 BY SAFELITE AUTO. AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE PROVIDED PARTIAL COVERAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, HE HEARD A SMALL POPPING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN HORIZONTAL CRACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OVER SEVERAL HOURS, THE CRACK EXPANDED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD TOWARD THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFELIGHT AUTO-GLASS REPAIR AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,500.
THIS 2017 OUTBACK SUDDENLY LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. EVEN JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT. THEE SERVICE THAT CAME TO JUMP THE CAR SAID THEY HAVE SEEN A LOT OF SUBARU'S NEEDING TO BE JUMPED AND THIS WAS FROM A SUBARU'S ROADSIDE SERVICE PROVIDER. PUTTING THE BATTERY ON A CHARGER WOULD NOT HELP. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY DID NOT CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM SAYING IT WAS DEFINITELY THE BATTERY. AT A COST OF $165.78 THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THIS SEEMED VERY ODD TO ME THAT THE BATTERY WOULD ALREADY BE BAD AFTER THREE YEARS. I DID SOME INTERNET CHECKING AND FOUND OUT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. NOTHING WAS LEFT ON IN THE CAR BUT IT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN EVERYDAY AS IT ONCE HAD. SEEING HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE I WAS WONDERING WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR?
THE BATTERY DIED WITH LESS THAN 30K MILES ON IT. AFTER JUMP STARTING AND DRIVING THE CAR TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY, IT WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE. AFTER JUMPING, THE CAR HAD MULTIPLE FEATURES THAT WOULD NOT WORK -- WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN, HATCH WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED ON 4/17/20 (MILEAGE 29,554) AND THEY RESET THE WINDOWS & HATCH TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. IN JUNE, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN, AND I HAD TO GET IT SERVICED AGAIN TO HAVE THE WINDOWS & HATCH RESET (MILEAGE 29,971). FINALLY, ON 8/30, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD, DESPITE SHOWING NO INDICATION OF LOW CHARGE OR RELIABILITY FOR SOME TIME. I COULD HEAR A CLICKING IN THE HATCH THAT MAKES ME THINK THERE IS SOME TRIGGER THERE DRAINING THE BATTERY.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I BEGAN HEARING A PERIODIC LOUD METALLIC CLACK-CLACK-CLACK WHEN MAKING A LEFT U-TURN, WHICH SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE TIRE ROTATION DEPENDENT. IT SOUNDED AS IF IT CAME FROM THE FRONT END. AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS I COULD HEAR IT RANDOMLY WHEN GOING FROM A STAND STILL, AND VERY SELDOM WHEN BRAKING. LAST THURSDAY, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL CENTER POSITION HAD MOVED TO THE LEFT, AND I DECIDED TO CHECK THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION. TIGHTENED A BUNCH OF UNDER TORQUED BOLTS, INCLUDING THE 8 THAT HOLD THE ENGINE CRADLE TO THE BODY. LAST NIGHT THE NOISE WAS NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING OVER AND BUMPS, AND THE CAR BEGAN TO PULL TO THE LEFT WHEN BRAKING. A FINAL ROAD BUMP AND THE CAR SOUNDED AS IF IT WAS FALLING APART. WHEN STOPPING AT THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR PULLED MORE NOTICEABLY TO THE LEFT, AND THE REAR END CAME UP. I MADE IT TO A GAS STATION, WHERE I INSPECTED BOTH FRONT AND BACK BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING. TRIED TO ROCK THE TOP OF ALL TIRES IN AND OUT AND THEY ALL SEEMED FIRM. DROVE 18 MILES AT 25-30 MILES PER HOUR, TRYING NOT TO USE THE BRAKES AT ALL. ONCE IN THE GARAGE, I GOT UNDER THE CAR AND VOIL... LEFT REAR TRAILING LINK COMPLETELY BROKEN. AT 74890 MILES. THE PICTURES SHOW ANOTHER CRACK STARTING ON THE UPPER BEND OF THE ARM. BY THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CRACK, IT SEEMS AS IF THE PART HAD FATIGUED. THIS MORNING I CRAWLED THE CAR TO THE CLOSEST SUBARU DEALER, AND EVEN OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY REPLACED THE LINK FOR FREE, OF COURSE AFTER I GOT THE "NEVER SAW THIS KIND OF FAILURE BEFORE" INTERNET FORUMS HAVE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS KIND OF FAILURE. PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PICTURES.
BATTERY IS DRAINING PREMATURELY.
8/28/20-WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE, I NOTICED A REFLECTION OF A SMALL PINPOINT "CHIP" IN MY WINDSHIELD, ABOUT 4 INCHES FROM THE A PILLAR. OVERNIGHT THE "CHIP" GREW INTO A LARGE HORIZONTAL, VERTICAL AND THEN HORIZONTAL CRACK THAT INTERFERES WITH THE DRIVER'S LINE-OF-SIGHT. THE WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED PREVIOUSLY ON 1/2/20 AND WAS REPLACED AT A SUBARU DEALERSHIP FOR OVER $1000. SEE NHTSA ID NUMBER 11297463 FILED ON 1/6/20.. THIS IS THE 2ND CRACKED WINDSHIELD IN LESS THAN 9 MONTHS!
WHEN PUTTING MY CAR INTO 'P' FOR PARK, AND TURNING MY CAR OFF WITH MY KEY, MY KEY WILL NOT TURN ALL THE WAY INTO THE OFF POSITION FOR ME TO TAKE MY KEY OUT. I HAVE TO TURN MY KEY INTO THE ON POSITION, SHIFT THE GEAR INTO EITHER 'N' OR 'D', THEN BACK INTO THE 'P' POSITION SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I CAN GET MY KEY OUT. THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MY CAR IS STATIONARY AND PARKED, AND I AM ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE. APPARENTLY, MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND SUBARU DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR CLIENTS TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR $$$.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START 8/25/2020. BATTERY DRAINED AND NEEDED TO BE RE-CHARGED. NO INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ON. THE BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED TWO YEARS EARLIER ON 7/19/2018 BY SUBARU OF WHITEFISH, MT. DEALER TESTED BATTERY ON GR8 TESTER AND TESTED BAD. IN BOTH CASES, VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY OR GARAGE.
THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE FIRST BATTERY WAS REPLACED AFTER ONLY HAVING THE CAR FOR LESS THAN A MONTH AND LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. I'M HAVING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AGAIN AFTER ONLY 8,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD ONLY BEEN SITTING FOR A DAY. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO MECHANICS. THE FIRST MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE DOORS WAS FAULTY. THAT WIRING WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND MECHANIC CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR, BUT SAID THAT THE SYSTEM WAS FINE (WAS NOT ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM OR DETERMINE ANY PROBLEM).
MY CAR BATTERY CONTINUES TO DRAIN. I WAS GIVEN A NEW BATTERY DESPITE THE CAR BEING LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. THREE MONTHS AFTER THE NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED BY THE DEALERSHIP, THE BATTERY DRAINS OVERNIGHT TO THE POINT THE CAR BARELY TURNS OVER OR DOESN'T START AT ALL. EVEN AFTER EXTENDED PERIODS OF DRIVING, THE BATTERY BARELY TURNS OVER DESPITE SITTING OVERNIGHT FOR 12 HOURS IN THE DRIVEWAY IN AUGUST.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY WITH LITTLE TO NO REASON OF PHYSICAL IMPACT FROM OUTSIDE. IT STARTED AS A 2 INCH LINE CRACK THAT GROW TO ALMOST A FOOT WHILE DRIVING. EVIDENCE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST SUCH AS DASHCAM VIDEOS AND PHOTOS.
2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUES WITH THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IT TRAVELS ALL THE WAY DOWN, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO INADVERTENTLY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GAS PEDAL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. *JS

BOUGHT 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK IN LATE 2019. IN MARCH 2020, AFTER LETTING THE OUTBACK SIT IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR THREE DAYS WITHOUT DRIVING IT, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. JUMPED IT AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY. IN AUGUST 2020, OUTBACK SAT UNDRIVEN FOR FOUR DAYS AND THE BATTERY IS DEAD. JUMPED IT, DROVE IT AROUND TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY, AND AFTER LEAVING THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW HOURS IT WILL NOT START AGAIN.
WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK IN IT ON LOWER PART PF DRIVERS SIDE OUT OF NOWHERE
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AFTER A COLLISION TO A DEAR. THE CRACK HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE
MUTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND PUT INTO PARK,REGARDLESS OF WHERE, THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE SWITCH CAN BE TURNED OFF, BUT THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE GEAR SHIFT HAS TO BE MANIPULATED MULTIPLE TIMES BETWEEN DRIVE AND PARK IN ORDER TO EVER REMOVE THE KEY. THIS MAKES IT QUITE DIFFICULT TO RUN ERRANDS OR TO TAKE A TRIP, NOT KNOWING IF THE ABILITY TO REMOVE THE KEY WILL BE POSSIBLE. AND, OF COURSE, IF THE KEY HAS TO BE LEFT IN, THE POSSIBILITY OF THEFT WOULD BE GREAT. CAR IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE GEAR SHIFT IS IN PARK. ON ONE OCCASION, I HAD TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY, BUT THIS RUNS THE BATTERY DOWN. DEALER WHERE I AM TAKING CAR TO BE REPAIRED AS WELL AS THE SUBARU OF AMERICA CONTACT, ADVISED ME THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE AND SUBARU IS WELL AWARE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE PUT ON THE RECALL STATUS! THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS SINCE BUYING THE CAR ON JUNE 5, 2020. TODAY'S DATE IS 08/14/20. REPAIR WILL BE MADE MONDAY, 08/17/20.
THE BATTERY DOES NOT LAST LONG AND DOES NOT ALWAYS HOLD ITS CHARGE. IT HAS COMPLETELY LOST ITS CHARGE MULTIPLE TIMES FROM THE SECOND DAY I OWNED IT. IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE CAR HAS HAD A DRAINED BATTERY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENTLY LOST ITS CHARGE WHILE STATIONARY. AT SOME TIMES IT IS OFF AND WILL NOT TURN ON. OTHER TIMES IT HAS BEEN ON AND PARKED AND SUDDENLY TURNS OFF. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN NOT DETERMINE THE REASON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON RETURNING TO HER PARKED VEHICLE, THE REAR WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED INTO SEVERAL PIECES. THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THE DAMAGE TO THE GLASS AS LOOKING LIKE A JIGSAW PUZZLE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE RESIDENCE WITH THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT INITIALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE WRONG PARTS WERE ORDERED FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FLATIRONS SUBARU (5995 ARAPAHOE AVE, BOULDER, CO 80303) WHERE SHE PAID FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR WINDSHIELD. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,790.
WE WERE TRAVELING SOUTH ON INTERSTATE 15 AND ABOUT 45 MINUTES INTO MY TRIP TO TAKE MY COUSINS BACK TO THE AIRPORT IN SALT LAKE CITY FROM IDAHO FALLS THE HOOD OF THE CAR JUST FLEW UP AND SMASHED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CARE WAS UN-DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. ULTIMATELY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE VEHICLE. THE WEEKEND AFTER I WAS BACK IN COLORADO MY BROTHER AND I SAW ANOTHER SUBARU BUT DIFFERENT MODEL THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THE SAME THING HAPPENED. HAVE PICTURES OF THAT AS WELL.
I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE ON MY OWN SINCE I WAS TOLD THEY AREN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE BATTERIES DISCHARGE ON THEIR OWN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED. I HAVE TO USE A BATTERY CHARGER ALL THE TIME OR THE BATTERY IS DEAD WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR. I PUT THE LAST BATTERY IN AROUND AUG 2020.
THERE WAS A HOT DAY AND MY CAR WAS EXPOSED TO THE SUN ON THE PARKING SPOT. WHEN I LEFT MY CAR THERE WAS NO ANY CRACK. WHEN I CAME BACK I FOUND THE CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD

BATTERY SEEMS TO BE DRAINING FOR NO REASON. MY CURRENT BATTERY IS 2 MONTHS OLD AND WAS STONE DEAD THIS MORNING(TUESDAY) IN MY CARPORT. I HAD NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE SATURDAY, BUT THE SATURDAY TRIP WAS ABOUT 100 MILES.
CANNOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION ONCE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND PUT IN PARK. REFERENCE SUBARU SERVICE BULLETIN 16-112-18R.
BATTERY DIED IN 2019 AFTER OWNING CAR FOR ~2YRS AS IT FAILED BATTERY LOAD TEST. BATTERY REPLACED APRIL 2019. IN JULY 2020, THE CAR FAILED TO START (STATIONARY) AGAIN REQUIRING A CHARGE / JUMP. TOOK CAR IN TODAY ON 8/8/20 AND IT FAILED BATTERY LOAD TEST AGAIN AND BATTERY WAS REPLACED AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SUBARUS AND SUBARU NEEDS TO ADDRESS AS THIS CAN LEAVE CONSUMERS IN BAD/DIFFICULT SITUATIONS.
THE SUBARU HAS LEFT ME STRANDED TWICE NOW WITH BATTERY FAILURE. THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR THE BATTERY FAILURE. IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY AND IS HORRIBLY INCONVENIENT. ONCE, I WAS ALONE IN A PARKING LOT AT NIGHT (A WOMAN) WITH NO CELL PHONE. ANOTHER TIME IT WAS 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE. AND, MOST RECENTLY I HAD MY GRANDCHILD WITH ME AND WE WERE STRANDED FOR AN HOUR. IT HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH NOTHING LEFT ON.
2017 OUTBACK, EXPERIENCED A FAULTY BATTERY TOOK TO DEALER IN DECEMBER 2019 AND WAS REPLACED AT SUBARU OF GLENDALE. 7/18/2020 DEAD BATTERY ISSUE AGAIN WITH THE SECOND NEW BATTERY. HAVE TO GET IT JUMPED MONDAY TO GO TO THE DEALER AGAIN, CAR HAS APROX. 25,000 MILES+- CAN'T CHECK EXACT MILES BECAUSE NO POWER. CALLED SUBARU ROADSIDE TODAY WAITED 3 HOURS AND THE SERVICE NO SHOWED.
TWO CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD APPEARED FOR NO APPARENT REASON ABOUT ~10 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. CHIP # 1 IS ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND AROUND~ 5 MM SIZE. CHIP #2 IS IN FRONT OF PASSENGER SEAT WITH A CLEAR CRACK ON THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE OF VEHICLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF ~ 1 CM. THERE IS A CONCERN FOR THESE CHIPS TO CONTINUE CRACKING AND DESTROYING THE WINDSHIELD. NO ROCKFALL WITNESSED/NO STONES HITTING WINDSHIELD WITNESSED. SEE ATTACHED PICTURES. ALSO NOTICED A FEW OTHER LITTLE CHIPS THAT HAVE POTENTIAL FOR CRACKING. AWARE OF SUBARU WINDSHIELD LAWSUIT, SADLY WAS UNAWARE OF IT BEFORE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE INSPECTED WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
I PURCHASED MY 2017 OUTBACK BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2017 AND IN THE THREE YEARS OF OWNING IT, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD 3 TIMES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE WINDSHIELD APPEARS TO CRACK FOR NO REASON OR BY THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH OF LOOSE GRAVEL. EACH TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS I HAVE BEEN IN MOTION, ON A HIGHWAY GOING SPEEDS OF ABOUT 60MPH. THE CRACK WILL START SMALL AND THEN SPREAD VERY RAPIDLY WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES, THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE CRACK FILLED BEFORE IT SPREADS.
WON'T LET ME REMOVE THE KEY WHEN IN PARK. DIAGNOSIS IS THE SHIFTER PLATE ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED.
MY VEHICLE DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT HAS TRANSVERSED THE ENTIRETY OF THE WINDSHIELD, NECESSITATING ITS REPLACEMENT. THE CRACK BEGAN ON THE LOWER LEFT (DRIVER'S) SIDE AND MOVED ACROSS TO THE RIGHT (PASSENGER'S) SIDE BEFORE CURVING BACK AND UPWARD TOWARD THE LOCATION OF THE REARVIEW MIRROR. THIS HAS OBSCURED THE EYE SIGHT CAMERAS AND IMPAIRED THE SAFETY MECHANISMS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CRACK BEGAN WITH NO PRECIPITATING DAMAGE OBSERVED TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO GROW OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL DAYS. ~`````````````
