TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 TESLA MODEL X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS ON THE TRAILER THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE, FAILED TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. TO ENSURE THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE VEHICLE AND NOT TRAILER, THE CONTACT HAD THE TRAILER ATTACHED TO TWO SEPARATE FRIEND'S VEHICLES AND THE TRAILER LIGHTS WORKED ON BOTH VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
MAIN SCREEN (INSTRUMENTAL PANEL) TURNS OFF AND REBOOTS WHILE DRIVING. THE SYSTEM REBOOTS AND ALL VEHICLE FUNCTIONS TURN OFF AND ARE INACCESSIBLE DURING THE REBOOT PROCESS. TESLA SERVICE CENTER STATED IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY
1. CAR TAKING LONGER TO BOOT UP WHEN PLACING FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. 2. LARGE CENTER CONSOLE SCREEN TAKES EVEN LONGER TO BOOT-UP. THIS RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR, BUT COULD NOT TURN ON THE DEFROSTER. THE WINDSHIELD QUICKLY FOGGED UP AND I HAD NEARLY ZERO VISIBILITY. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR THE CENTER CONSOLE TO EVENTUALLY TURN ON,
MY TESLA SCREEN IS HAVING THE IDENTICAL ISSUES OUTLINED IN YOUR REQUEST FOR RECALL. I'VE REACHED OUT TO TESLA 3 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO RESET THE SCREEN. IT LAST HAPPENED YESTERDAY WHERE MY SCREEN WAS COMPLETELY BLANK FOR 15 MINUTES. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE 0 CONTROLS FOR HEAT OR SHUTTING MY GARAGE BACKUP CAMERAS ETC. IT'S INFURIATING THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO OWN UP TO A STUPID SCREEN IN A CAR THAT COST OVER $80,000.
I AM THE OWNER OF A 201X TESLA MODEL X. THE "CENTER SCREEN" IN THIS CAR IS CENTRAL TO THE USE OF MANY SAFETY FUNCTIONS OF THE CAR, SUCH AS THE REVERSE CAMERA, HEADLIGHT CONTROLS, DEFROSTER CONTROLS, AND TURN SIGNAL CHIMES. THE SCREEN IN MY CAR HAS BECOME HIGHLY UNRELIABLE, OFTEN LOCKING UP, REBOOTING, OR FAILING TO RESPOND, CAUSING THE AFOREMENTIONED FUNCTIONS TO BE UNAVAILABLE. IT IS MY OBSERVATION THAT THESE FUNCTIONS WORKED WELL IN THE PAST WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY DELIVERED, BUT HAVE DEGRADED OVER TIME AS TESLA HAS PUSHED SOFTWARE UPDATES TO MY CAR. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH TESLA AND AM AWARE OF THE PROPOSED NHTSA RECALL OF THE CENTER SCREENS DUE TO A EMMC FLASH WEAR OUT ISSUE. TESLA HAS ASSURED ME THAT THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR, AND HAS REQUESTED THAT I WAIT FOR FUTURE SOFTWARE UPDATES TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. HOWEVER, IT IS MY OBSERVATION THAT SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE CONTINUOUSLY MADE THIS SITUATION WORSE, AND TESLA HAS OFFERED NO SPECIFIC DATE ON WHICH THIS WILL BE RESOLVED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR SAFETY FUNCTIONS OF A VEHICLE. I REQUEST THAT YOU INVESTIGATE THE SCALE OF TESLA "MCU1" CENTER SCREEN ISSUES BEYOND THE EMMC FLASH ISSUE AND WORK WITH TESLA TO MAKE SURE THIS IS RESOLVED QUICKLY FOR THE 150,000 OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES.
I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND IN THIS TIME I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN OVER 10 TIMES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE VISITS FOR BOTH MY IN-CAR DASH SLOW, FREEZING, OR RESTARTING AND I HAVE HAD 3 VISITS RELATING TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS MY SUSPENSION NOT WORKING. MCU UNIT- THIS HAS STOPPED WORKING WHILE STARTING MY CAR WHERE THE SCREEN WOULD NOT LOAD AS WELL AS WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY WHERE THE UNIT WILL FREEZE. I HAVE NOTICED IT MORE OFTEN WHEN ON LONGER ROAD TRIPS BUT IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED DURING DAY TO DAY ACTIVITY. SUSPENSION: WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I RECEIVED A MESSAGE SAYING THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY SUSPENSION, TESLA DIAGNOSTICS COULD NOT DETERMINE A PROBLEM BUT THEY PROACTIVELY FIXED A PART. NOT SURE IF THIS IS KNOWN PART THAT WAS FAILING BUT IT WAS A PROACTIVE APPROACH. MONTHS LATER I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN B/C IT WAS MAKING A LOUD MOTOR NOISE, THEN HISSING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY GARAGE. I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME BUT I THINK THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE 1ST SIGNS OF A LEAK IN MY SUSPENSION SYSTEM. ONCE AGAIN TESLA COULD NOT DIAGNOSIS OR RECREATE THE PROBLEM. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER FROM THAT VISIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT RAISE OR LOWER. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT IT NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT TO THE SERVICE CENTER SO INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT MAY JUST BE AN ISSUE BECAUSE IT WAS VERY COLD OUTSIDE. AFTER TAKING IT IN AGAIN, TESLA TRIED A REPAIR THAT WAS GOING TO COST ABOUT $500, THE NEXT DAY THEY TOLD ME THE REPAIR DID NOT TAKE AND A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE REPAIR WOULD BE NECESSARY ABOUT $6,000. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAT 100,000 MILES ON IT AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SUSPENSION FAILING AS I HAVE READ A LOT OF INFORMATION OF OTHER TESLAS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. WITHOUT A 3-RD PARTY TO TAKE IT TO IN MY AREA, I FELT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY THE FEE AND LET TESLA FIX IT. TESLA DISCOUNTED BY 10%.
I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY MCU UNIT SIMILAR TO WHAT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED IN ODI ENGINEERING ANALYSIS EA20-003. I HAVE OBSERVED THE VEHICLE ELECTRONICS AND TOUCHSCREEN FAIL 4 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS WHILE DRIVING. IN THE WINTER MONTHS IN MN, THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT CAUSES THE HVAC SYSTEMS TO TURN OFF. THE WINDOWS START TO FOG UP AND CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TRIED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE TO TESLA, BUT THEY KEEP RESPONDING BY SAYING THEY AREN'T ABLE TO DETECT ANY FAULTS FROM THE CAR, BUT ALSO SAY THAT A FUTURE SOFTWARE UPDATE IS EXPECTED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I DON'T SEE HOW THEY CAN CLAIM THIS WILL BE RESOLVED BY A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHEN THEY DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE FLAW CAUSING THIS ISSUE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I BOUGHT MY 2017 TESLA MODEL X FROM TESLA DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK WITH LESS THAN 8K ON IT. AFTER TWO DAYS WHILE DRIVING THE MAIN SCREEN BLACKOUT, FREAK ME OUT SINCE ELECTRIC CAR IS NEW TO ME. A FEW DAYS LATER, PICKING UP MY LITTLE SON FROM SCHOOL THE SCREEN FROZE UP AND I COULD CONTROL ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE CONTACTED TESLA SERVICE CENTER, THEY TOLD ME IT'S BEING INVESTIGATED AND NO RECALL HAVE BEEN CALLED. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, IF IT'S A KNOW PROBLEM THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACE THE MAIN SCREEN FOR ME BEFORE SELLING IT. PLEASE HELP.
THE TOUCH SCREEN TURNS OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. I COULD BE PARKED, DRIVING, TURNING. HAPPENING WITH MORE FREQUENCY, THEN THEY PUSHED AN OVER THE AIR UPDATE, BUT NOW IT'S BACK.
THE CAR HAS 2 DISPLAYS, A DASH DISPLAY AND AN "INFORTAINMENT" DISPLAY. BOTH WORKED GREAT WHEN NEW. ALL VEHICLE STATUS IS DISPLAYED ON THEM, AND MOST VEHICLE CONTROLS ARE AVAILABLE ONLY THROUGH THEM. OVER TIME, THEY HAVE BECOME PROBLEMATIC. THEY WILL SPONTANEOUSLY REBOOT AT ANY TIME (WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE, DRIVING UNDER VARIED CONDITIONS, ETC) WHICH CAN MAKE THEM UNAVAILABLE FOR UP TO 3 MINUTES, OR EVEN WORSE THEY WILL FREEZE DISPLAYING THE WRONG INFORMATION UNTIL THE DRIVER NOTICES AND MANUALLY REBOOTS THEM. FOR A WHILE, THIS WOULD HAPPEN ROUGHLY EVERY 10 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING, AND MEANT WE COULD LOSE NAVIGATION WHILE IN AN UNFAMILIAR AREA, LOSE THE BACKUP CAMERA, ACCESS TO HVAC CONTROLS INCLUDING DEFOGGER, ETC. IT IS USUALLY MORE OF AN ANNOYANCE, BUT WITH SUCH FREQUENCY IT IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING AT BEST, AND GIVEN THE RANDOM TIMING IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. WE HAVE HAD 4 APPOINTMENTS TO ADDRESS THIS. THEY HAVE MADE A COUPLE OF CHANGES THAT HAVE REDUCED THE FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEMS. BUT THEY STILL OCCUR, UNLESS WE COMPLETELY STOP USING MAJOR FEATURES INCLUDING NAVIGATION AND TESLACAM. THE FACT THAT THEY LARGELY DISAPPEAR WITH SOME CHANGES INDICATES THAT THESE ARE NOT DUE TO THE KNOWN EMMC PROBLEMS THAT ARE ALREADY UNDER INVESTIGATION. THESE ARE FIRMWARE BUGS RELATED TO NAVIGATION, USB HANDLING, PROCESSOR OVERLOAD DUE TO NEW FEATURES, ETC. TESLA CLAIMS THEY WILL BE FIXED, BUT CANNOT GIVE US A DATE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A YEAR. WE HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALMOST EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR MORE THAN JUST A FEW MILES. OWNERS ONLINE INDICATE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MODEL X AND S BUILT BEFORE MARCH 2018 WITH THE MCU1 COMPUTER. IT IS CLEAR THAT TESLA SERVICE TECHNICIANS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEMS, AS THEY ARE GIVING SIMILAR EXPLANATIONS TO OWNERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. YET THE FIRMWARE BUGS ARE STILL NOT FIXED.
TESLA ADVISED ME THAT THE 8GB (EMMC) IN THE MEDIA CONTROL UNIT IS FAULTY WHICH ON TWO RECENT OCCASSIONS CAUSED ME TO EXPIENCE A PERSISTENT CENTER DISPLAY OR LOSS OF THE REARVIES CAMERA DISPLAY, DEFROST/DEFOG, AND/OR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTING, WHICH MAY INCREEASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. TESLA REPORTS THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THE CAR FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE SINCE JANUARY 2021. I HAD EXPECTED MORE FROM TESLA.
Car shudders at the acceleration. Service center said it’s a widely known issue with front half shaft and clevis mount. Tesla already admits it is a design fault but wouldn’t cover it under the drive unit warranty. Can nhtsa make it a recall? Thanks
MCU FAILED TWICE, RESULTING IN BLACK SCREEN WHILE IN OPERATION. NO REAR CAMERA, NO VENTILATION CONTROL. TESLA REPORTS THAT I NEED TO RESET MY TRIP COUNTER EVERY 2K MILES TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM (SEE ATTACHED SERVICE REPORT). THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY HAZARD.
TOUCHSCREEN TURNS BLANK. THIS TOUCHSCREEN IN TESLA WHICH IS THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF MANY CRUCIAL CONTROLS IN THE CAR TURNED BLANK AND UNRESPONSIVE. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING WITH BLANK SCREEN AND REPEATED RESET BUTTON PRESSES TO GET THE SCREEN TO WORK AGAIN. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WAS MORE PRONOUNCED IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. TESLA CLAIMS TO RUN A REPAIR PROGRAM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CALLED ME TO INFORM THAT THEY WILL NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR BY REPLACING THE MMC BUT WILL DO A SOFTWARE RESET OF SOME KIND AND SEE IF IT GOES AWAY. GIVEN THE SAFETY CONCERN INVOLVED WITH TOUCHSCREEN CONTROL GOING BLANK AND THEY THEMSELVES RUNNING A PROGRAM TO REPAIR, NOW REFUSING TO REPAIR IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD. I REQUEST NHTSA TO COMPEL TESLA TO MAKE ALL NECESSARY REPAIR AND REIMBURSE OWNERS.
VEHICLE WAS SUMMON TO ENTER GARAGE AND HIT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR FRAME CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE, SIDE MIRROR, AND SHATTER THE FRONT QUARTER PASSENGER WINDOW. THE SUMMONS FEATURE DOES NOT YET WORK!
THE LARGE SCREEN IN MY TESLA OCCASIONALLY GOES COMPLETELY BLACK AND STOPS FUNCTIONING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY REAR VIEW/ BACK UP CAMERA GOES BLACK, MY HEATING AND AIR CONDTITIONING SHUTS OFF, MY RADIO AND BLUE TOOTH SHUTS OFF. I CAN STILL DRIVE THE CAR BUT IS VERY LIMITED. THIS CAN LAST FOR 5 MINUTES OR UP TO 15 MINUTES. I CANNOT PREDICT WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE SAME DAYS, OTHER TIMES A WEEK WILL GO BY WITHOUT IT HAPPENING. TESLA CONTACTED ME ABOUT THIS AND OFFERED A FIX: THEY WOULD UNDER WARRANTY INSTALL A NEW EMMC CHIP AND THAT THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DID THIS, TESLA HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND THEY PERFORMED THE FIX. IT DID NOT WORK AND MY SCREEN CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION, IT IS VERY UNSETTLING. THIS CAN, AND HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I AM: DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD, DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR, AND WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR UP IN THE MORNING. I HAVE ATTACHED 2 PHOTOS I TOOK WHEN THIS HAPPENED 2 SEPARATE TIMES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS. BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT OCCURRED . THIS IS AFTER I HAVE HAD THE REPAIR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
I HAVE HAD REGULAR ISSUES WITH MY CAR'S BLUETOOTH SYSTEMS SINCE DECEMBER, 2020. THE ONLY WAY I'VE BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IS BY RESETTING MY CAR (HOLDING DOWN BOTH STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS). THE SERVICE CENTER HAS ASKED ME TO RESET THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES, DELETE ALL CONNECTED BLUETOOTH PROFILES, AND COMPLETELY RESET THE CAR'S ELECTRONICS. NONE OF THESE FIXES HAS WORKED. IT STILL FAILS EVERY 5-10 DAYS. I AM GOING TO LEAVE IT IN A NON-FUNCTIONING STATE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS SO THAT THEY ARE FORCED TO LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. THEY ALWAYS TRY TO DIAGNOSE THINGS REMOTELY, BUT ARE UNABLE TO DO SO WHEN IT IS IN A NON-FUNCTIONING STATE. IT APPEARS THIS ALSO AFFECTS THE CAR'S CELLULAR AND WIFI CONNECTIVITY.
WHILE DRIVING IN AUTOPILOT MY MCU (TESLA CONTROLLER) OCCASIONALLY FAILS. THIS MEANS THE AUTOPILOT COMPUTER WORKS FINE BUT ALL AUDIO NOTIFICATIONS DO NOT WORK. THE AUTOPILOT WILL CHANGE LANES FOR ME WITHOUT THE NORMAL AUDITORY NOTIFICATION. TURN SIGNALS ARE SILENT. THE MCU WILL THEN COMPLETELY FREEZE (NO TOUCH INPUT AND GPS FROZEN WHILE DRIVING) REQUIRING EITHER A MANUAL REBOOT BY MYSELF OR IT CRASHES COMPLETELY AND REBOOTS ITSELF. 5 VISITS TO MY SERVICE CENTER IN THE PAST 13 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE HAVE NOT RESULTED IN A RESOLUTION. THEY TELL ME THEY "FLASHED THE STORAGE" OR "UPGRADED THE FIRMWARE" BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO PROVE THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AUTOPILOT FUNCTIONING WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE USER OF MANEUVERS COULD BE DEADLY. IT IS A SELF DRIVING CAR BUT STILL REQUIRES DRIVERS TO PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE OVER IF AUTOPILOT MAKES A FAULTY DECISION. I HAVE VIDEOS OF THIS HAPPENING. ATTACHED I HAVE UPLOADED INVOICES FROM THE SERVICE CENTER SHOWING I HAVE BROUGHT MCU FAILURE ISSUES TO THEM ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES. NOTE THAT LINE ITEM 14 ON THE INVOICE DATED 01132021 TESLA INACCURATELY STATES MY NO AUDIO ON AUTOMATIC LANE CHANGE ISSUE. I REQUESTED THEY REPHRASE THIS ISSUE TO THE ISSUE I REPORTED BUT THEY REFUSE TO PUT THIS IN WRITING. WHY? SUSPICIOUS.

The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced the failure and while operating the vehicle the display screen which included the backup camera would randomly malfunction causing the screen to freeze or turn black. Additionally, while operating the vehicle the power steering assist had malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 60,000.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS (SOMETIMES WHILE STATIONARY AND SOMETIMES WHILE MOVING), THE MEDIA CONTROL UNIT (MCU) HAS BECOME INOPERABLE. WHEN IT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, IT MEANT THAT THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS COULD NOT BE USED AND/OR ADJUSTED: THE REAR VIEW CAMERA, THE RADIO VOLUME, THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AND POSSIBLY OTHERS. I HAVE PROVIDED TESLA WITH TIME STAMPS OF ALMOST ALL FAILURE EVENTS AND TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THEIR SERVICE CENTERS 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. ALTHOUGH AN ASPECT OF THIS MCU (THE "EMMC") IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, TESLA HAS REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE MCU. INSTEAD THEY HAVE, ON THE LATEST SERVICE APPOINTMENT, INDICATED THERE ARE "FPGA ERRORS" AND THERE IS A "FIRMWARE BUG" THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND THAT THIS FIRMWARE BUG WILL BE ADDRESSED WITH A PENDING FIRMWARE UPDATE. IN THE MEANTIME, THEY SUGGEST PERFORMING A "RE-BOOT" OF THE SYSTEM EVERY TIME IT FAILS. I TOOK POSSESSION OF A USED TESLA 2017 MODEL X DIRECTLY FROM TESLA USED SALES ON SATURDAY 11/28. WITHIN 2 DAYS (BY MON 11/30), THE CENTRAL CONSOLE/COMPUTER WENT COMPLETELY BLACK AND THE CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO SELF-DRIVE, USE MEDIA, CLIMATE CONTROL, LIGHTING, AND, FROM A MOST CONCERNING SAFETY STAND-POINT, ALL CAMERA INCLUDING REAR-VIEW. THIS PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO TESLA ON 12/1 AND NO SOLUTION HAS BEEN FORTHCOMING. IN SCANNING THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS REOCCURING PROBLEM WITH THE CENTRAL MCU COMPUTER CONSOLE. ALSO TURN SIGNAL NOISE INDICATOR IS DISABLED. DATE OF INCIDENT IS TODAY'S DATE BUT ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING AND INCREASING IN FREQUENCY FOR THE PAST 12 MONTHS.

MCU AND TOUCHSCREEN ARE EXTREMELY SLOW TO RESPOND AND NEED CONSTANT REBOOTS TO UNFREEZE. I SPOKE TO TESLA SERVICE ABOUT REPLACING THE MCU OR THE EMMC UNDER THEIR NEW WARRANTY PROGRAM BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY HAVE TEMPTED INTO THE CAR AND FIXED THE ISSUE BY CLEARING THE MEMORY. Tesla issued a recall for the mcu after I had the mcu replaced because it was failing. The screens in my car would go blank and I would have no idea how fast I was going while driving. The a/c wound shut off in the middle of the drive. I didn't have turn signals. These were all the reasons why the nhtsa ask tesla to issue a recall, and finally tesla agreed to this recall. Tesla is however not reimbursing me for the replacement of the mcu. I have spent months trying to get Tesla to honor their recall. I would like to be reimbursed for this recalled mcu that I had to pay for myself as it was a major safety issue. I would appreciate you help.

THIS IS ONLY 1 LOCATION, THEY HAVE 466 SERVICE CENTERS THE PROBLEM IS NOT SW BUT IT IS BECAUSE OF POOR MCU HW. 2. HOWEVER, I LUCKILY MADE A NOTE FOR THE OCCURRENCE AT THE TIME, BUT TESLA STILL REFUSE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTS UNIT CITING THEY LOSS THE LOG OF MY INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A MULTIPLE-SYSTEM FAILURE. WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST, LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL, LOSS OF BRAKING ASSIST, AND OTHER SAFETY FEATURES. A RESET OF THE COMPUTER RECTIFIED THE ISSUE, BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY, AND THE SOFTWARE FAILS AGAIN AND AGAIN. IN FAILURE MODE, WHICH COMES ON UNPREDICTABLY, THE BRAKES MAKE A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND AND ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE IN STOPPING THE CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THEY ALSO ASKED ME TO KEEP THE CAR CHARGED BUT I ALSO LET THEM KNOW THAT THE CAR IS UNABLE TO DO SO AT HOME. HE ASKED ME TO TAKE IT TO TESLA SUPERCHARGING STATION AND TRY THERE. I LET THEM KNOW THAT MY TURN SIGNALS WERE NO LONGER WORKING AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT HAND SIGNALS WERE STILL AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF VEHICLE DIRECTION/MOVEMENT INDICATION. WELL, I TOOK IT TO THE SUPERCHARGING STATION WITH THE TURN SIGNALS AND REAR CAMERA NOT WORKING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT CHARGE SO I HAD TO TAKE IT HOME AGAIN DRIVING WITHOUT TURN SIGNALS ON THE FREEWAY. I FINALLY CONVINCED THEM THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THE CAR WOULD LOSE ALL ITS BATTERY RESERVE BEFORE I THEY WERE ABLE TO TAKE MY APPOINTMENT SO THE TECHNICIAN ASKED ME TO DRIVE IT INTO THE SAN FRANCISCO TESLA SERVICE CENTER

IN JUNE OF 2020, THE LOWER U-JOINT NEAR THE STEERING RACK ENCOUNTERED A FAILED BEARING MAKING THE CAR EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN FOR 90 DEGREES OF STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT, FREE FOR 90 DEGREES, HARD FOR 90 DEGREES, AND FREE FOR 90 DEGREES. THIS OCCURED AT APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES AND 2.5 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. BEFORE THIS WAS DIAGNOSED, IT MADE THE CAR DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN IT FIRST OCCURED.
