TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD BANG SOUND AND SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE HAS A MELTED DASHBOARD THAT SEVERELY DIMINISHES VISIBILITY WHEN THE SUN IS OUT. A REFLECTION FROM THE DASHBOARD IS DISPLAYED ON THE WINDSHIELD AND IS LIKE LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN. SOONER OR LATER THIS IS GOING TO BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT MAY OR MAY NOT RESULT, BUT NOT LIMITED TO DEATH. IT IS A DEFECT ON THE PART OF TOYOTA AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND THEIR LIVES SHOULD NOT BE PUT IN DANGER FOR AN OBVIOUS DEFECT THAT MUST BE CORRECTED. *TR
UNIT JERKS AND STALLS, BURNS OIL .SOME TIMES WHITE SMOKE COMES FROM THE TAIL PIPE . OIL HAS TO BE REPLACED CONSTANTLY AFTER OIL CHANGE , RECOMMENDED WEIGHT 5W20W IS USED. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BURNED SPARK PLUGS. THIS IS A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ON A RECALL LIST. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID IS MELTING! IT CREATES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. ANYTHING PLACED ON IT STICKS. JUST TOUCHING IT WITH A FINGERNAIL CAUSES INDENTATIONS AND NICKS. *TR
I WAS RECENTLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, I WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER CAR OF THE DRIVER DOOR THE DOOR WAS BADLY HIT/DAMAGED, YET THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. AS THIS WAS A DOUBLE IMPACT ACCIDENT, AFTER BEING STRUCK ON THE DOOR, THE CAR WENT STRAIGHT INTO A HYDRANT POLE, STRIKING THE CAR DEAD CENTER AND CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. AGAIN, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS I AM NOT SURE OF WHERE THE SENSORS IN THE FRONT ARE LOCATED, I CANNOT REALLY SAY THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, THE IMPACT ON THE DOOR WAS SUFFICIENT FOR THE AIRBAG TO HAVE DEPLOYED. THE POLICE, EMT AND TOWING COMPANY ALL MADE THE SAME COMMENT...THEY WERE CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I ALSO SPOKE TO MY INSURANCE CLAIM ADJUSTER WHO ALSO STATED THAT AT THE VERY LEAST, THE DOOR AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HE IS CURRENTLY STILL INSPECTING MY CAR AND CANNOT COMMENT ABOUT THE FRONT AIRBAGS AS OF YET. IF NEEDED, I DO HAVE PHOTOS THAT CAN BE PROVIDED. MY CONCERN IS THAT HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT A FASTER SPEED OR HAD IT BEEN A HIGHWAY ACCIDENT, THE POSSIBILITY OF A FATALITY WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT MUCH GREATER. WITH THAT SAID, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT THE AIRBAGS BE INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE MANUFACTURING BATCH. ALTHOUGH MY SON AND I SUFFERED EXTENSIVE BRUISING, I AM THANKFUL THAT IT WAS NOT WORSE. *TR
THE STICKY AND MELTING DASHBOARD. THE DASH FEELS LIKE CLAY AND IS PLIABLE, IT CAN EASILY BE PEELED AWAY. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT WIPING IT DOWN WOULD HELP BUT IT SEEMS OVER TIME THE DASHBOARD CANNOT BE CLEANED, TOO STICKY. IT'S EXTREMELY ANNOYING BECAUSE IT'S ACTUALLY SO SHINY THAT WE GET A LOT OF GLARE ESPECIALLY ON A BRIGHT DAY. THIS IS BECOMING A REALLY BIG ISSUE BECAUSE IT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDOW WHEN DRIVING, WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT/ISSUE THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO AND FIX BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
HI, I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH TOYOTA. ON SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2014 MY "OIL PRESSURE LIGHT "CAME ON, AND THEN AGAIN ON 09-26-14. I ALWAYS REGULARLY SERVICED MY CAR AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. AT FIRST I SAID "OK IT'S TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE", BUT THE MILES THAT I USED SO FAR IT WAS NOT READY TO BE SCHEDULED FOR AN OIL CHANGE YET. I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE A COUPLE OF THOUSANDS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR; ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS NOT MY FAULT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD FLUCTUATE ERRATICALLY. IN ADDITION, THE ABS AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE AC WOULD INDEPENDENTLY DEACTIVATE AND ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
THE DASHBOARD IN THIS CAR IS MELTING AND CREATING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. IT MAKES IT HARD TO SEE. *TR
NUMEROUS CRACKS OVER ENTIRE DASHBOARD THAT MAY CAUSE PROBLEMS IF AIRBAGS ARE CAUSED TO DEPLOY. *TR
ON 9/19/14, I SPOKE WITH "[XXX]", CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER, TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS REGARDING MY MELTING DASHBOARD. I EXPLAINED THAT IT'S A SECURITY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF, AND WHICH I BECAME AWARE OF BY LOCAL MEDIA. I INFORMED HER THAT THERE'S A SIGNIFICANT GLARE FROM MY DASHBOARD, AND ANYTHING THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH IT STICKS, SO I CAN'T EVEN USE A VISOR. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN DELRAY BEACH, FL HAS OFFERED TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD FOR AN OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSE TO ME OF $600 (TOTAL REPORTEDLY NORMALLY $2000), HOWEVER, I ADVISED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO COST TO ME DUE TO THE KNOWN SECURITY ISSUES, REPORTED ACCIDENTS, THEIR COMPANY'S INTEGRITY AND MY LOYALTY AS A LONGTIME TOYOTA CUSTOMER. [XXX] REMINDED ME THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THAT "OUT OF RESPECT FOR YOU, THE DEALERSHIP IS OFFERING YOU ASSISTANCE. WE DON'T HAVE A RECALL NOTICE OR CUSTOMER SUPPORT FOR THIS VEHICLE, SO THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE." AS A CORPORATION, TOYOTA SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND BE PROACTIVE IN RESOLVING THIS ISSUE. ULTIMATELY, SOMEONE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR MISFORTUNE WHEN A LOVED ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIES IN AN ACCIDENT ATTRIBUTED TO THE GLARE. TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN WILLING TO SEND ME A VOUCHER OR MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE $600 TO REPLACE MY DASHBOARD. PUBLIC OPINION CAN AFFECT THEIR BOTTOMLINE AND THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY WILLING TO PUT THE PUBLIC AT RISK TO SAVE A FEW DOLLARS UPFRONT. *TR

DASH IS STICKY. THE GLARE IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE RESIDUE ON THE DASH . NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY CAR GETS STICKY FROM THE HEAT AND CANNOT BE CLEANED OR TREATED. DEPENDING ON THE TIME OF DAY AND THE DIRECTION OF THE SUN IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF THE GLARE OFF OF THE GLOSSY/STICKY DASHBOARD. I THOUGHT THIS WAS UNIQUE TO ME UNTIL I PERFORMED AN INTERNET SEARCH. WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN FORT WORTH, TX, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT. I THEN CONTACTED A TRIM SHOP WHO TOLD ME THAT THEY HEAR ABOUT IT ALL OF THE TIME. I THINK TOYOTA NEEDS TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM SO THAT IT IS SAFE FOR MY FAMILY TO DRIVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA EQUIPPED WITH NEXEN 5000 TIRES, SIZE 215/55/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A TECHNICIAN INFORMED HIM THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRES HAD DEVELOPED BUBBLES ON THE SIDE WALL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCE A BLOW OUT WHILE USING THE SAME MODEL TIRE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE TIRE WAS IN THE SAME CONDITION BEFORE THE BLOW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. PAM
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED HAVING WHAT APPEARS TO BE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS COME ON WHILE THE TACHOMETER BOUNCE UP AND DOWN UNCONTROLLABLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER READS AT 0 WHEN IN FACT IM ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING AT I BELIEVE 55-60MPH. THE GEAR LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD TURN OFF. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST BEEN A MONTH NOW AND THE CAR FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL THEN IT WILL CORRECT ITSELF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN START ACTING UP AGAIN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN ALL OF MY BRAKE, SLIP INDICATOR AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LOOKED IT UP IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL. THERE, IT TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER. I WAS 40 MILES FROM HOME SO I PROCEEDED TO GO BACK TO THE HOSPITAL TO PICK UP MY BOYFRIEND. I GOT LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE MASTER WARNING LIGHT AND AN ALARM CAME ON. AGAIN I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. THE MANUAL TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. AT THE DEALERSHIP I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" ON A FILTER THAT CONNECTS THE CHAMBERS IN THE BRAKE RESERVOIR. IT WAS REPLACED AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE UNTIL 11/26/14. AGAIN, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS AND ALARM CAME ON AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THERE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR HAD FAILED AND IT WOULD BE OVER $1500 TO REPLACE. LUCKILY, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS ALSO BEING COVERED BY TOYOTA UNDER A "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT" PROGRAM. *JS
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING,AND ITS ONLY GETTING WORSE,CANT CLEAN IT OFF,BUT ASIDE FROM THAT I FEAR THAT IN AN EMERGENCY MY PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT PROPERLY DEPLOY...THIS IS A HORRIBLE YET SCARY ISSUE TO HAVE...SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CAR WITH A MELTING DASHBOARD,I AM A BIG HONDA AND TOYOTA FAN AS FOR THE REST OFF MY FAMILY..AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS CANNOT BE TOYOTA QUALITY OF SERVICE,AND I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT THE CHEAP MELTING GUM LIKE MATERIALS USED FOR THESE DASHBOARDS ARE NOT UP TO TOYOTA STANDARDS.. *TR
ONE DAY AFTER TOYOTA REPLACED MY REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS, I WAS DRIVING WHEN SUDDENLY THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO, THE TACHOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO, AND THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FLUTTERED BETWEEN ZERO AND MIDRANGE. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE LASTED ONLY A MINUTE OR TWO, BUT ON THE NEXT MORNING IT HAPPENED TWICE, EACH OCCURRENCE LASTING SEVERAL MINUTES. IT WAS VERY DISCONCERTING TO BE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOT HAVE A WORKING SPEEDOMETER AND NOT KNOW IF THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, SINCE BOTH THE BRAKE AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS WERE LIT. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA THAT MORNING AND IT TOOK THEM 4 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, COMING TO THE CONCLUSION WITH HELP FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS THAT IT MUST BE THE ABS COMPUTER. IT COSTS $1800 PLUS THEY ARE CHARGING ME 8 HOURS OF LABOR (EVEN THOUGH THEY SPENT SEVERAL DAYS TRYING TO DIAGNOSE IT) FOR A TOTAL OF $2700. WHEN MY WIFE FOUND OUT HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST, SHE GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND IN A SECOND THERE WERE OTHER IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS MENTIONING THE ABS COMPUTER REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AND THERE IS ALOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND OCCASIONALLY THE WHEEL WILL JERK SLIGHTLY. THERE IS A POPPING/ KNOCKING IN THE WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO GET AN ALIGNMENT TWICE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT THE ALIGNMENT. PUT NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS ON THE FRONT. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE, RAN A VIN NUMBER CHECK AND MY CAR DID NOT SHOW UP WITH HAVING A RECALL. CALLED TOYOTA AND ASKED ABOUT A RECALL FOR THE STEERING. TOYOTA STATED THAT BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT SHOW UP AS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD HELP ME WITH. ALSO SEE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OR COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. I REALLY THINK THAT IF THERE WAS A HISTORY OF RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD STILL CHECK THIS OUT FOR FREE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. JUST BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER IS NOT SHOWING UP AS BEING RECALLED DOESN'T MEAN THAT THIS CAN NOT HAPPEN. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR 2 WEEKS AND HAVE NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH THE WAY IT DRIVES. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A RAPID INCREASE IN RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ABS AND EMERGENCY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR CONDITIONER PRODUCED HOT AIR, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED, AND THE SPEED RAPIDLY DECREASED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER, PLACE IT INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE IN ORDER FOR IT TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR HAD INTERNAL FAILURE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,785.
GOT IN FRONT RIGHT SEAT AND THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT PULL OUT TO BUCKET. *TR
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ALSO MY SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE DOES NOT MOVE, AND RPM GAUGE STARTS FLUCTUATING. THIS OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (SKID CONTROL ECU) A TOTAL COST OF $3,453 TO FIX. :( MY CAR HAS ONLY 67,750 MILES. I DO KNOW THE 2007 CAMRY HYBRID IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THOSE ARE BEING RECALLED. *TR
THE BRAKE AND ABS INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID CONTAINER AND IT WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I ADDED BRAKE FLUID. THIS CONCERNED ME BECAUSE I HAD MY CAR SERVICED LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AND FELT THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTICED THAT THE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW. THE BRAKE AND ABS INDICATOR LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP; A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR. TOTAL COST WAS $2,086.40. SINCE I'VE HAD THE BRAKE ACTUATOR REPLACED, I'VE NOTICED THAT THE DELAYED BRAKE RESPONSE NO LONGER EXISTS. *TR
I CALLED TOYOTA DEALER AND TOLD THEM, THEY TOOK PICTURES AND ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECTIVE PARTS. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME $250.00 FOR LABOR AS THE NEW DASH WOULD COST THEM $1500.00, I ARGUED THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNFAIR THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY BEING THEIR FAULT. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND IS HANGING LOOSE BLOCKING VISION. *TR
TOYOTA SHOULD PROVIDE A RECALL REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT OF A DEFECTIVE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS VEHICLE DASHBOARD. MY CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BUT FOR SOME REASON THE VEHICLE HAS A STICKY, MELTING AND DIRTY DASHBOARD WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN BECAUSE IF YOU TOUCH IT VANISHES, WHILE CLEANING IT. THIS IS MY THIRD TOYOTA CAMRY. 2004 CAMRY BECAME "LEMON" FOR BRAKES PROBLEM, 2005 CAMRY BECAME "LEMON" FOR ENGINE PROBLEM. AND NOW ON MY THIRD CAMRY, AFTER DRIVING ONLY 65000 MILES, FRONT STRUTS OF MY CAR HAVE LEAKING OIL. MY CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT. I HAD TO SELECT VISIBILITY/WIPER BECAUSE IT WAS THE NEAREST ANSWER TO MY CONCERN. THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR JUST FLOPS DOWN AND WON'T STAY UP WHEN NOT NEEDED.IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD WHEN IT SETTLES TO ODD OBSTRUCTIVE POSITIONS BY ITSELF.
THE DASHBOARD IN MY CAMRY IS TACKY AND STICKY. I HAVE THE SERVICE BULLETIN BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS EXPIRED. IT IS REALLY A BAD ISSUE. TOYOTA HAS MADE BILLIONS FROM SELLING CARS IN AMERICA ALONE AND THEY ALLOWED DEFECTIVE MATERIALS TO USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR CARS AND THAT IS NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER. THIS SHOULD BE A TOTAL RECALL IN PLACE OF A SERVICE BULLETIN. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD SOMEONE COME IN CONTACT WITH THIS DEFECTIVE MATERIAL IN A CRASH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, WHEN THE HORN WAS DEPRESSED, IT FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY DEACTIVATED THE AIR BAG MECHANISM, HORN, AND COULD ALSO CAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A VOLUNTARY MANUFACTURER RECALL RELATED TO THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID WITH 132,000 MILES. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE VSC SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS HAPPENED AT 96,000 MILES. THE DEALER STAYED I HAD A LEAK IN THE BRAKE ACTUATOR AND CHARGED ME $150 TO DIAGNOSE, AND $2600 TO REPAIR, I DECLINED THE REPAIR AND TOOK IT TO A SHOP NEAR ME. THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM FOR $1000 AND IT LASTED ABOUT TWO YEARS, AND OW IT'S BACK. I HAVE SOFT BRAKES, NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKE PUMP AND A CONSTANT WARNING BELL WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING, 4 LIGHT APPEARED: THE MASTER WARNING LIGHT, THE BRAKE LIGHT, THE ABS LIGHT, AND THE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT, ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM". AFTER THIS HAPPENED, I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. NOW WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO START THE CAR, I HEAR LOUD IRREGULAR CLUNKING SOUNDS, AND THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE POWER BUTTON DOESN'T LIGHT UP FOR 2 SECONDS, INDICATING THE CAR CANNOT BE IMMEDIATELY STARTED. CAR DRIVES FINE, BUT I'M AFRAID THE BRAKES WILL BECOME FAULTY AT ANY TIME. *TR

THE TOP OF THE DASHBOARD IS TACKY OR STICKY AND EXTREMELY SHINY. SUNLIGHT REFLECTS OFF THE SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD, CREATING A GLARE THAT OBSTRUCTS VISION. THE STICKY NATURE OF THE DASHBOARD SURFACE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO CLEAN. THE MATERIAL IS EXTREMELY SOFT AND EASY TO DAMAGE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND AS I APPROACHED THE STOP SIGN THAT IS AT A SLIGHT RISE IN THE ROAD; I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE VERY HARD GOING DOWN AND I HEAR AIR COMING OUT OF SOMEWHERE. MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND I FINALLY STOPPED JUST AS I STEERED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD NEXT TO THE STOP SIGN. I JUST MISSED A CAR COMING FROM THE SOUTH ON THE ROAD I WAS TURNING ON. I CONTINUED MY DRIVE HOME "WHITE KNUCKLING" IT ALL THE WAY. THE BRAKES DID THE SAME THING AT THE OTHER STOP SIGNS AND THE TWO TURNS I HAD TO MAKE TO GET HOME. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX BECAUSE I WAS SCARED TO DEATH I WAS GOING TO HIT A CHILD. I HAVE HAD THE CAR PARKED SINCE THEN BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED YET. *TR

WAS VERY HOT OUTSIDE FOR 3 WEEKS STRAIGHT. ON THE WAY TO THE GROCERY STORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE FOLLOWING 2 READOUTS ON SPEEDOMETER DISPLAY: "CHECK VSC" AND "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM". INSTANTLY THE HYBRID PART OF THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING. BRAKES CHANGED FEEL AND THROTTLE BECAME VERY DELAYED. WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK, THE ENGINE STARTED TO KNOCK. WHEN I PUT INTO DRIVE OR NEUTRAL THE KNOCKING STOPS. THE ENGINE KNOCKED HARD IN PARK POSITION AS IF THERE ARE LOOSE PIECES OF METAL CRUNCHING. EVER SINCE THEN, THE CAR'S HYBRID DRIVE DOESN'T WORK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, ABS LIGHT, VSC LIGHT P/S LIGHT, A RED TRIANGLE LIGHT, AND AN ORANGE CIRCLE WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT IN IT. WE PARKED THE CAR AND WE ARE NOT DRIVING IT UNTIL ITS FIXED. WE HAVE 2 TODDLERS AND WE AREN'T GOING TO RISK DRIVING IT. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ON MY CAR IS LITERALLY MELTING. IT NOW HAS A GLARE THAT HAS CREATED BLIND SPOTS IN THE DAYTIME WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THE REP I SPOKE TO FLAT OUT LIED ABOUT THERE BEING AN ISSUE. SHE TOLD ME THAT DUE TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE FULL COST OF REPLACING THE DASHBOARD. SHE SAID IT WAS THE FIRST TIME SHE HEARD OF IT WHEN I KNOW THAT IS NOT TRUE DUE TO A TV STATION REPORT IN FLORIDA REPORTING ON THE ISSUE AND THE HUNDREDS OF CAMRY OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS DASHBOARD! I DON'T SEE WHY THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD WHEN IT IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO THE BLIND SPOT IT CREATES AS WELL AS IT COULD BE EMITTING TOXIC FUMES FROM THE MELTING SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS. *TR

MY DASH BOARD IS MELTING. IT SEEMS THIS IS A CURRENT ISSUE FACED BY MANY OWNERS AND TOYOTA HAS YET TO ADDRESS IT. IT SEEMS AS IF EXTREME HEAT WILL MAKE THE DASHBOARD MALLEABLE AND ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO NICKS AND SCRATCHES. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN. ANY RAG, WIPE, ETC. CAR PASSENGER SIDE VISOR FAILED AND HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN BLOCKING THE DRIVER SIDE RIGHT HAND VIEW. THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE AND FORCED ME TO PUT THE CAR INTO A DANGEROUS POSITION IN THE CENTER LANE. FORTUNATELY OTHER TRAFFIC HAD SLOWED TO ALLOW TO PROCEED INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE SECOND VISOR FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE - CLEARLY A DESIGN/ENGINEERING ISSUE. FIRST WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY REPLACEMENT. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING AND MY HUSBAND NOTICE THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY WHEN APPLIED. THERE WAS A HISSING SOUND WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE CAR TO STOP. THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS GONE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS SORT OF THING HAPPENING WITH TOYOTA CAMRYS. THIS IS DANGEROUS THEY SHOULD RECALL ALL TOYOTAS FROM 2007 ON, BECAUSE SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO TOYOTA ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM.
