THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IS MELTING AND CAUSING A HUGE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. IT LOOKS LIKE I SLATHERED BABY OIL ON THE FIRST 5 INCHES OF THE DASHBOARD. THIS CAUSES DIFFICULTY SEEING OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD ESPECIALLY IN THE FLORIDA SUN. THIS SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURE RECALL SINCE IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR DRIVERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 04/06/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE DASHBOARD. UPDATED 04/20/16. *JB
I FOUND THAT WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES THEY DID NOT ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY AND WHEN THEY DID THEY SWITCHED FROM OFF TO ON RAPIDLY (UNDER CONSTANT AND/OR INCREASING BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE). THIS WAS 3 DAYS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. I HAD THE SYSTEM SERVICED AND IT COST ME $2,000. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT IT SEEMED LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY DENIED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND DID NOTHING TO HELP ME. COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE SOME HELP. *TR
"CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING FOR TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID 2007 'CHECK VSC" WARNING CAME ON BEFORE THE BRAKES LOST SOME OF THEIR POWER. WE HAD INTERMITTENT LOSS OF BRAKING ON THE FREEWAY, RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKE POWER, DELAYED BRAKING ACTIVATION AND INCREASED BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT, THEREFORE THE CAR TOOK LONGER TO STOP. IT WAS A DANGEROUS AND VERY SCARY SITUATION BUT WE MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS, WE HAVE GOTTEN THIS WARNING WHILE DRIVING OR JUST BEFORE LEAVING HOME. IT ALWAYS GOES AWAY AFTER ONE OR TWO ENGINE START AND STOPS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE CAR HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS IN AN AIRPORT PARKING LOT. THE DEALER RAN THE DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT SEE THE CODE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT STORED IN MEMORY. WITHOUT BRAKES ON THE FREEWAY WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! *JS
BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY. ALWAYS HAVE TO ADD 1 QUART OIL BETWEEN EVERY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE.
DRIVING CAR THROUGH TOWN WHEN ABS, RED TRIANGLE. VSC LIGHTS LITE UP DASHBOARD. LOST STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY. COASTED TO STOP IN LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. THANK GOD I WAS THERE AND NOT ON INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME BRAKING ACTUATOR FAILED AND REPAIR WOULD BE $3200. NOT COVERED BY 10 YEAR/100K HYBRID WARRANTY ALTHOUGH BRAKING SYSTEM SPECIFIC FOR HYBRIDS. CHOICES ARE: TRADE IN CAR TO DEALER AND LET THEM FIX IT, DRIVE IT AROUND UNTIL I KILL SOMEONE OR MYSELF(NOT HAPPENING) OR PLAY THE LOTTERY TONIGHT AND MAYBE I CAN FIX CAR TOMORROW (ALSO NOT HAPPENING) OR SWIPE THE PLASTIC AND END UP PAYING OVER 4K FOR THE REPAIR......VERY DISAPPOINTING FOR A TOYOTA TO COST THIS MUCH IN REPAIRS WITH SO LITTLE MILEAGE. DASHBOARD IS BEGINNING TO MELT CREATING A PRONOUNCED GLARE ON WINDSHIELD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CRASHING INTO AN UNKNOWN OBJECT. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT FINGER, NECK, BACK, AND HEAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE DASHBOARD IS DISINTEGRATING. THE AREA ON THE FRONT PART OF THE DASHBOARD (CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD) SEEMS TO BE THE WORSE, ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM IS SPREADING TO THE ENTIRE DASH. IT IS STICKY, TACKY, SHINY AND GOUGES EASILY. THIS PROBLEM IS CREATING A GLARE AND IS DANGEROUS. THE DASH IS BASICALLY MELTING. I WORRY ABOUT THE FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAGS. RECENTLY MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS COMING ON AND THEN GOING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I FEAR THAT THE DASH WILL BECOME SO UNSTABLE THAT IT WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. PLEASE HELP. I AM AFRAID FOR ANYONE TO SIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR. *TR
TIMES AND MILEAGE ARE APPROXIMATE BECAUSE WE DID NOT KNOW AT THE BEGINNING THAT THIS WOULD BE A PERSISTENT PROBLEM. AROUND JANUARY 1, 2014, WHEN WE STARTED THE CAMRY AFTER LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE, FOUR DASH WARNING LIGHTS AND A MESSAGE DISPLAY WENT ON AND STAYED ON (BRAKE SYSTEM (RED), BRAKE SYSTEM (YELLOW), MASTER WARNING (RED), ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (YELLOW), AND "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" (IN DISPLAY)). DURING THIS TIME THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER ASSIST BRAKES, NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, AND AS BEST WE CAN DETERMINE - NO VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM; IT HAD ONLY MANUAL HYDRAULIC BRAKES THAT WERE HARD TO PUSH AND SLOW TO STOP THE CAR. WE DROVE THE CAR HOME CAREFULLY AND PARKED IT. WHEN WE NEXT STARTED THE CAMRY THE LIGHTS WERE NOT LIT, AND ALL SYSTEMS WORKED. WHEN THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AT A LATER DATE WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON WHEN WE DROPPED OFF THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS LIT WHEN THEY INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM; NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE RECORDED BY THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WE AGREED THAT UPON THE NEXT OCCURRENCE WE WOULD DRIVE THE CAMRY TO THE DEALER WITHOUT TURNING IT OFF. UNFORTUNATELY, AT THE NEXT OCCURRENCE THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THE BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEMS WERE INACTIVE, BUT THE CONDITION REVERSED ITSELF AS WE DROVE TO THE DEALER (WITHOUT TURNING OFF ANY SYSTEMS). THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES UPON TESTING FOR THIS OCCURRENCE. WE AGREED THE DEALER WOULD COME TO THE CAR AT THE NEXT OCCURRENCE. UNFORTUNATELY THAT HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY (65 MPH) AND THE DEALER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS BRINGS US CURRENT TO 4/28/14. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT ABS OR VSC SYSTEMS, AND WE BELIEVE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THESE CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN CORRECTED IN OTHER VEHICLES EVEN WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES. *JS

THE DRIVER`S & PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR DOESN'T STAY WHERE IT SHOULD BE, NOT UP ALL THE WAY OR DOWN ALL THE WAY. VERY BAD VISIBILITY AND NOT COMFORTABLE FEELING . *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS SO STICKY THAT I CANT DRIVE MY CAR IN THE DAY TIME WITH OUT FEELING SAFE. MY DASH BOARD HAS TURN INTO A GLUE TRAP FOR ANYTHING THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH IT. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA AND MADE A CLAIM AND THEY TOLD ME NOT ONE PERSON HAS MADE A COMPLAINT. I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW IN PALM DESERT CALIFORNIA IN 2007. IN NOVEMBER 2013, I MOVED TO PINELLAS PARK FLORIDA AND MY DASHBOARD BECAME VERY STICKY. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE IN THE LAST YEAR. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE ACTUAL DASHBOARD. THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING. I WANT TO HAVE IT REPLACED. MY CAR HAS UNDER 45,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION. HOW DO I GO ABOUT MAKING TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DASHBOARD?
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE (IN A PARKING GARAGE) AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. IT WAS FINALLY STOPPED WHEN IT SMASHED INTO STEEL CABLES IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HEAT GAUGE SPIKED SUDDENLY. WHILE TRYING TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER , ENGINE IS LOST. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ENGINE WAS LOST DUE TO WATER PUMP FAILURE. THEY ESTIMATED $ 6,000 COST FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. SIX MONTHS AND LESS TAN 5,000 MILES BEFORE THE INCIDENT, TOYOTA DEALER OFFERED $11,000 FOR THE VEHICLE DURING THE OIL CHANGE SERVICE. VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS SERVICED AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE INCIDENT, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT (WHEN DEALER OFFERED $11,000), THERE MIGHT BE A SLIGHT WATER LEAK, BUT, IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND THEREFORE, KEEP WATCHING THE COOLANT LEVEL. I KEPT WATCHING THE COOLANT LEVEL AS THEY TOLD ME. COOLANT LEVEL WAS NORMAL BEFORE I STARTED TO DRIVE RIGHT BEFORE THE INCIDENT AND WITHIN 50 MILES OF DRIVING ENGINE WAS LOST. IT WAS WITHIN AN HOUR OF CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVEL. *JS
WHEN READYING TO STOP, LIFTED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR AND REACHED FOR BRAKE. WHEN PRESSURE APPLIED, BRAKE PEDAL DROPPED 1 - 2 INCHES BEFORE BRAKES TOOK HOLD. THIS WAS THE FOURTH OR FIFTH TIME THAT THIS TYPE OF BRAKING RESPONSE OCCURRED OVER THE LIFE OF THE CAR. I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR IN JUNE 2006. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING DUE TO EXTREME HEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 49,000.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT TWO AREA TOYOTA DEALERS SINCE PURCHASED. MAINTENANCE INTERVALS WERE CLOSELY ADHERED TO, AND NO PROBLEMS WERE EVER REPORTED BY THE SERVICE PEOPLE REGARDING ENGINE PERFORMANCE OR OIL CONSUMPTION. DURING A DECEMBER 2013 VEHICLE SERVICE AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP, SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THE OIL PAN SEAL AND THE VALVE COVER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO OIL LEAKAGE. I (OWNER) INSPECT VEHICLE FREQUENTLY, AND KNEW THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. BETWEEN VEHICLE SERVICING DATES, I CHECKED THE OIL AND FOUND IT TO BE TOO LOW TO REGISTER ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. I ADDED THE GRADE OF OIL INDICATED ON THE OIL FILL CAP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED AUTO SHOP. I ALSO INSPECTED THE ENGINE FREQUENTLY FOR LEAKAGE AT THE OIL PAN AND VALVE COVER, AND OBSERVED NO OIL LEAKS.THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND FOUND NO SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED SHOP PERFORMED THE ROUTINE SERVICE, INCLUDING OIL CHANGE, AND PROVIDED THE TOYOTA 2011 SERVICE BULLETIN THAT DESCRIBED THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND TOYOTA'S OWN SUGGESTED REPAIR. THIS LEAD ME TO RESEARCH THE ENGINE, AND I FOUND THAT THIS IS LIKELY A SIGNIFICANT AND WIDESPREAD DEFECT THAT TOYOTA IDENTIFIED AS EARLY AS 2008. AS A COMMUTER, I FEAR THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION COULD LEAD TO PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR, RESULTING IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
WHEN I WENT TO START MY CAR WHICH WAS STILL IN MY GARAGE, I PRESSED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PUSHED THE "ON" BUTTON. IMMEDIATELY I FELT THE BRAKE "PUSH BACK" AND HAD TO PUMP IT ONCE OR TWICE TO BRING IT BACK TO NORMAL. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT SIX WEEKS, THIS WOULD OCCASIONALLY HAPPEN AGAIN. IN ADDITION, AND MORE TROUBLING, WAS THAT SOMETIMES, WHEN I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT, AND THEN STARTED THE CAR, SOMETHING SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT HAPPENED. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AND STARTED THE CAR, INSTEAD OF FEELING RESISTANCE IT SEEMED THAT THE BRAKE WAS GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BUT MY CAR WAS SLOWLY ROLLING BACKWARDS. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE A COUPLE OF TIMES, IT REVERTED TO NORMAL. FINALLY, ON 1/22/2014, THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING SUDDENLY CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING, AS WELL AS THE ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT, THE REGULAR BRAKE LIGHT, THE ENGINE LIGHT, AND THE TRIANGULAR HYBRID WARNING LIGHT. THE CAR WAS DRIVING OKAY, BUT THE LIGHTS ALL REMAINED ON UNTIL I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALER A FEW DAYS LATER. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT MY BRAKE ACCUMULATOR HAD BLOWN A FUSE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY STATED THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM OCCURRING IN THE CAMRY HYBRIDS. I PAID $3400 TO HAVE THE ACCUMULATOR REPLACED. THE NEXT MORNING I READ A NEWS BLURB IN THE NEWSPAPER ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE EARLY CAMRY HYBRID MODELS' BRAKE PROBLEMS AND RESEARCHED IT FURTHER AND ENDED UP AT THIS NHTSA SITE. MY CONCERN IS THAT EVEN THOUGH MY ACCUMULATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED, HAS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM BEEN ADDRESSED, OR DO I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING AGAIN? I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS, AND I FEEL LUCKY THAT I HAD MY PROBLEM ADDRESSED BEFORE ANYTHING MORE HARMFUL OCCURRED. *TR
I WAS ON THE HWY AND SUDDENLY FELT MY BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND STARTED MAKING A NOISE IN IMMEDIATELY MULTIPLE LIGHTS TURNED ON INCLUDING ABS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE ASKING ME TO REPLACE THE ABS PUMP/ACCUMULATOR WHICH WILL COST OVER $3000.00. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND BOUGHT THIS USED CAR TO SAVE ON MY EXPENSES AND NOW I AM NOT EVEN IN THE CONDITION TO FIX IT DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS. I SENT AND EMAIL TO TOYOTA EXECUTIVES BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY REPLY. I AM STILL DRIVING THE CAR WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ON. GOD KNOW WHAT NEXT. *TR
WHILE BRAKING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT WAS FELT THAT THE BRAKING WAS INTERMITTENT. WHEN THIS HAPPENED SMALL KICK WERE SENSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAS CONTINUED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE. THIS VEHICLE HAD THE ABS ALREADY REPLACED WHEN IT WAS ABOUT 97K MILES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING OUR FAMILY CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT AND OTHERS. CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP. MY HUSBAND TOLD ME TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART. THAT TEMPORARILY SOLVED THE PROBLEM BUT IT THEN HAPPENED AGAIN 2 DAYS LATER. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE! *TR

THE NEXT DAY LIGHTS WENT OFF. THEN CAME ON 2 DAYS LATER. THIS WAS THE 4TH INCIDENT THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT. . I UNDERSTAND LOOKING AT YOUR WEB SITE TOYOTA HAS A DEFECTIVE PART WHICH THEY REFUSE TO RECALL? I UNDERSTAND IT IS A FAULTY ACTUATOR? WHEN WILL A RECALL BE ISSUED? THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
MY 2007 CAMRY IS CONSUMING AROUND 3 QUARTS BETWEEN 3000MILES OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. THIS CONSUMPTION IS QUITE HIGH BY ANY STANDARD. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED IN A TIMELY MANNER. IF WE CHANGED THE OIL EVERY 5000 LIKE THE MANUAL SAID I WOULD HAVE A CAR RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE CEASED UP THE ENGINE. THIS MAKES ME VERY UNHAPPY AND NOT VERY SAFE FOR ME OR MY FAMILY. WHILE COMING TO A STOP BEFORE EXITING A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS ENGAGED IN A NORMAL FASHION ONLY TO HAVE THE BRAKE SYSTEM SHUDDER AND THEN EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF AUTOMATIC BRAKE ASSIST. MANY LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD, INCLUDING THE 'CHECK VSC' LIGHT, ILLUMINATED ALONG WITH A VERY AUDIBLE WARNING SOUND. THE DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR AND RELATED PARTS. THE PRICE TO FIX THE ISSUE WAS RIGHT NEAR $3000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. *TR

TOTAL FAILURE OF THE ABS BRAKE MODULE AFTER LESS THAT 45,000 MILES INDICATES THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT COULD OCCUR AT ANYTIME, IN ANY CAMRY. IT APPEARS THAT LEXUS CARS ALSO ARE AFFECTED. WE GOT A PARTIAL REDUCTION ON THE REPAIR ($1500 INSTEAD OF $3000), BUT TOYOTA WANTED THE PART. WE KEPT IT AND CAN PROVIDE IT TO YOU FOR TESTING AND INSPECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND SOME PEOPLE ON THE WEB SITE I SENT YOU HAD THE FAILURE OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMALLY AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
WHILE DRIVING DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE CAR'S BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN 5-10 SECONDS LATER A "CHECK VSC" MESSAGED DISPLAYED ON THE MESSAGE SCREEN ALONG WITH SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS (ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND MAIN WARNING). THE BRAKES BECAME VERY SOFT (LIKE A CAR WITH NO POWER BRAKES) BUT WOULD SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I SLOWED DOWN AND GAVE MYSELF PLENTY OF BRAKING DISTANCE TO GET IT HOME. AFTER 10 MINUTES, THE WARNING MESSAGE AND LIGHTS DISAPPEARED AND THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATIONS. THIS APPEARED TO BE A TEMPORARY GLITCH. SINCE THIS FIRST APPEARED, THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS FAILING AND QUOTED ME $3,100 TO REPAIR IT. ANOTHER SYMPTOM OF THIS FAILURE IS A CONSTANT ON/OFF BUZZING NOISE COMING FROM THE ABS ACTUATOR AND A "CHIRPING" NOISE WHEN YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PETAL DURING A STOP. THE SITUATION ALSO APPEARS TO GET WORSE WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS. I DON'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYMORE. THERE IS NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN DOCUMENTING THIS PROBLEM. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS THE ORIGINAL DESIGN COSTING $2,750 AND WILL FAIL AGAIN. I ALSO CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND TOLD THEM IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. THEY OFFERED SOME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BUT THE REPAIR IS STILL GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE. ON THIS WEBSITE AND OTHER INTERNET FORUMS, THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THIS VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR FATALITY OCCURS. I FIND THIS PROBLEM TO BE UNACCEPTABLE FOR A TOYOTA ESPECIALLY WITH ONLY 70,500 MILES ON IT. *TR

THEY RECORDED THAT C1202 STORED IN ECU, LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING, ABS PUMP MOTOR OPERATION SUSPE TOPPED OFF BRAKE FLUID. I STARTED HEARING A CREAKING NOISE IN MARCH 2014 WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER SERVICES ON APRIL 2, 2014. INITIALLY THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, HOWEVER, I INSISTED ON TESTING IT FURTHER. EVENTUALLY, THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH AN ACTUATOR IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND WAS NOT COVERED BY A WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY OVER $3300 INCLUDING TAX. AFTER UNDERSTANDING HOW AN ACTUATOR WORKS IN BRAKING SYSTEM, I BELIEVE THAT THE INCIDENT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2013 MUST BE CAUSED BY AN ACTUATOR ISSUE. I URGE TOYOTA TO RECALL THE ACTUATOR IN BRAKING SYSTEM FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS. FIRST, EVEN TRAINED TECHNICIANS AT TOYOTA DEALER COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE EASILY. THEY FINALLY FOUND IT AFTER THEY FAILED TWICE IN OUR CASE (IT TOOK NEARLY TWO DAYS). THOSE TECHNICIANS SHOULD BE INFORMED, SO THEY CAN DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS LIKE US QUICKLY AND PROPERLY. SECOND, A SIGN OF ACTUATOR PROBLEM CAN BE EASILY NEGLECTED. A CREAKING NOISE, WHICH CAUSED US TO BRING A CAR TO THE DEALER WAS PRETTY SUBTLE. THIRD A BRAKE FAILURE MAY LEAD FATAL CAR ACCIDENTS. MY MOM HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE CAR. I RECALL APPLYING THE BRAKES AND THE CAR NOT STOPPING, I ALSO TRIED TO PUT ON MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL BUT THAT WOULD NOT WORK EITHER. I LATER LEARNED THAT THE 2007 CAMRY (NEARLY 4 MILLION OF THEM) HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR BUT THERE IS NO WAY I INTENTIONALLY WENT ACROSS 4 LANES OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. REALLY??? MY CAR WAS TOTALED.
