TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID WITH SUMIMOTO HTRA/SPO1 TIRES, SIZE 215/60 R16 95V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED BUBBLES AND DENTS. THE TIRES HAD NOT BLOWN, BUT THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED HAVING THE CONTACT TAKE THE TIRES TO A TIRE SPECIALIST TO BE TESTED, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE TIRES FOR THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE WAS 75,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BECAME PARTIALLY DETACHED, BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. THE CONTACT ADJUSTED THE PLACEMENT OF THE VISOR AND FULLY DETACHED THE VISOR FROM ITS HOUSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE 2.4L 2AZ-FE BURNS THROUGH OIL AT AN UNUSUAL RATE. SO UNUSUAL THAT I'M FORCED TO KEEP A KEEN EYE ON IT EVERY FEW WEEKS. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. I BOUGHT THE CAR 'CERTIFIED' FROM A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND AFTER MONTH OF DRIVING IT, I NOTICED THE OIL BEING LOWER THAN I EXPECTED (MY NORMAL DUE DILIGENCE OF UPKEEP). WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK TO MY DEALER, THEY SAID IT 'WAS NORMAL' TO BURN THROUGH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF OIL. AT THE TIME I WAS NOT 'BURNING ENOUGH' OIL TO DEEM IT AN ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM WAS ALSO A COUPLE HOURS AWAY SO GOING THERE OFTEN WAS NOT AN OPTION. I ALSO CALLED CORPORATE AND THEY INSTRUCTED AND CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT, TO LOOK INTO IT. ONLY THING I GOT OUT OF IT WAS AN OIL CHANGE. IT'S BEEN SINCE 2 YEARS REMOVED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT STILL BURNS RAPIDLY, I'M ONLY ASSUMING IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE. I BOUGHT IT WITH 61000 MILES AND NOW HAVE 83000 MILES ON IT. SEEING MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SEVERE DEFECT CONSTITUTES ACTION ON TOYOTAS PART, AND NOT THROUGH TSB BUT A RECALL AS COSTLY AS THAT MAY BE IF I AM TO REMAIN A LOCAL TOYOTA FANATIC. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUN VISOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

THE SUN VISOR FOR SOME TIME HAS BEEN CLICKING WHEN MOVED DOWN OR UP. THIS MONDAY IT FINALLY BROKE FOR GOOD. IT NO LONGER STAYS UP OUT OF THE DRIVERS VIEW AND IS NOT ABLE TO BE ADJUSTED AS NORMAL. I HAVE NOTICED ON SEVERAL DISCUSSION GROUPS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE. I BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA HAS KNOW THAT THIS IS A WEEK PART AND SHOULD INITIATE A RECALL TO REPLACE OR REIMBURSE THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR POWER WINDOW SWITCH BEGAN TO SMOKE AND BURN WITH CAUSTIC FUMES FILLING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY SON DROVE THE CAR ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 10 MINUTES AT 10PM AND HE SAW THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE CAN WAS A LITTLE BIT SHAKING. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE CAR SPEED SLOWED DOWN QUICKLY AND THERE WERE SMOKE FROM FRONT HOOD. HE PULLED THE CAR BY SHOULDER, THEN CAR WAS TOTALLY DEAD. THE MECHANIC TECHNICIAN GAVE A REPORT AFTER CHECKING THE CAR THAT "WATERPUMP FAILED AND ENGINE RAN TOO LONG WITHOUT COOLANT AND MELTED ENGINE". WHAT A SHAME THE TOYOTA CAR QUALITY IT IS AS I WAS ALWAYS REGULARLY MAINTAINED MY CAR BY TOYOTA DEALER. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT HAS INTERMITTENT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEMS. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WILL CEASE TO INDICATE PROPER READINGS AND DROP TO ZERO. THE TACHOMETER WILL THEN BOUNCE BETWEEN ZERO AND WHAT I CAN ONLY ASSUME IS A CLOSE APPROXIMATION OF THE ACTUAL ENGINE RPM. AT THE SAME TIME, THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE AND STAY ON FOR THE DURATION OF THE "EPISODE". THESE LAST ANYWHERE FROM 10 SECONDS TO 10 MINUTES. IN THE MEANTIME, THE CAR RUNS NORMALLY FROM WHAT I CAN DISCERN. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 OR SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT IDLING AND THESE EPISODES OCCUR. THERE ARE NO OTHER INDICATIONS THAT SOMETHING IS AMISS...NO ROUGH IDLING, NO ENGINE STALLING, JUST THE DISPLAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ENGINE EXHIBITED A LOUD, UNUSUAL NOISE AS THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE THEN ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, SPINNING SEVERAL TIMES IN THE MIDST OF TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT SHUT THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED BUT DID NOT GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RPMS AND THE MPH GAUGE NEEDLES WERE CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATING WITHOUT THE VEHICLE RESPONDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 82,000.
I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD WAS STICKY AND CRACKING AND MELTING. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN POMPANO BEACH. PICTURES WERE TAKEN BY THE DEALERSHIP AND SUBMITTED TO TOYOTA DEMONSTRATING THE DEFECTS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA MYSELF AND SPOKE TO SEVERAL PEOPLE IN THE COMPANY VOICING MY CONCERNS AND DEMANDED SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE DONE MY OWN INVESTIGATION NOTING THAT EVERY TOYOTA OF MY MODEL AND AGE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE DASHBOARD AND INTERIOR MELTING AND CRACKING. I WAS TOLD BOTH BY LETTER AND ON THE PHONE THAT MY CAR WAS OVER THE WARRANTEE AND THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE . I TOLD TOYOTA THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THEIR PRODUCT WAS INFERIOR AND THAT MY 2002 HONDA ACCORD DID NOT HAVE ISSUES MELTING SO WHY SHOULD MY 2007 TOYOTA BE LITERALLY MELTING AND CRACKING. *JS
I TOOK MY 2007 CAMRY (APPROX. 36,000 MILEAGE) IN FOR 5000 MILE SERVICE (OIL CHANGE, FLUID CHECKS, TIRE ROTATION, ETC.) TECHNICIAN FOUND A LEAKING FRONT STRUT. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ONE STRUT. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE AND SPEAKING WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER AT 1-800-331-4331 A CASE NUMBER WAS OPENED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY A TECHNICIAN THAT STRUTS BE REPLACED AS A PAIR. CAR HAS HAD A VERY FLOATY, BOUNCY, OUT OF CONTROL FEEL ON HIGHWAY DIPS. IT IS SATURDAY SO I AM AWAITING A CALL ON MONDAY AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT WILL REPLACE AS A PAIR. I HAVE TOYOTA PLATINUM COVERAGE WITH NO DEDUCTIBLE SO THIS SHOULD BE FREE BUT I SEE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THIS ISSUE TO FEEL I SHOULD ALSO REPORT IT. *TR

FOR THE RECORD / NOW REPAIRED: PERSISTENT BUT SPORADIC DELAYED BRAKING INCLUDING NOISE AND "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING LIGHT. FINALLY REPLACED ABS ASSEMBLY AND BRAKE MASTER RESERVOIR UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY ($2285.70). PROBLEM EXISTED FOR OVER 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO RESOLUTION. MULTIPLE KEYS TOYOTA, HAMER TOYOTA AND INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR INSPECTIONS PRIOR PLUS COMPLAINTS TO REGIONAL TOYOTA SERVICE/COMPLAINT CENTER. MOST OF ABOVE DOCUMENTED WITH PICTURES OF WARNING LIGHT. INITIALLY TOLD NO ACTION COULD BE TAKEN UNLESS PROBLEM COULD BE DUPLICATED AT TIME OF INSPECTION. PICTURES OF WARNING LIGHT WERE DISCOUNTED. I PRESENTED INTERNET COMPLAINTS OF SAME ISSUE BY OTHERS BUT DISREGARDED AS EVIDENCE BY TOYOTA. *TR
HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ..COULD NOT START THE CAR WITH SMART KEY SYSTEM COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OR PARK COULD NOT USE OVER RIDE WITH SMART KEY. COST TO REPLACE WAS $243.56 AT THE TOYOTA DEALER

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR OF PLASTIC AND NOTICED SMOKE EMITTED THROUGH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE FLAMES BEGAN TO ERUPT FROM THE DOOR. THE CONTACT AND OCCUPANTS EXITED THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER WINDOW BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN ON ITS OWN WHEN I TRIED TO ROLL THE WINDOW BACK UP USING THE MASTER SWITCH ON THE DRIVER SIDE, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BUTTON, UPON CLOSER INSPECTION I COULD SEE ACTUAL FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE BUTTON. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE FLAME BURNED ITSELF OUT INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEAL AND PAID $500.00 TO REPAIR THE MASTER SWITCH. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE VISOR AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. MY CAMRY ENCOUNTERS INTERMITTENT BRAKING ANOMALIES ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. WHEN THE BREAK IS APPLIED, THE BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES AND THE CAR BEINGS TO SLOW. AFTER ABOUT 2 SECONDS OF THE CAR SLOWING THE BRAKE DISENGAGES AND THE CAR RETURNS TO COASTING SPEED WHILE THE BRAKE CONTINUES TO BE PRESSED. ONCE THE BRAKE IS PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, THE BRAKE RE-ENGAGES AGGRESSIVELY AFTER A 1/8TH TO 1/4TH OF A SECOND DELAY. THIS OCCURS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY SINCE SEDANS USUALLY HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THIS ANOMALY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS UNDER VARIOUS BREAKING CIRCUMSTANCES. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED AND DON MCGILL TOYOTA IN HOUSTON AND THEY QUOTED $4,500 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR. I AM CURIOUS HOW MANY BREAK ACTUATOR QUOTES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED AND HOW MANY CONSUMERS ELECT TO FORGO THE FIX AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH THIS BRAKING FAILURE. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MODERATE INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V096000 (AIR BAGS) BUT WAS NOT ADVISED IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OR NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
BRAKES FAIL WHEN THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING COMES ON ALONG WITH OTHER LIGHTS FOR TIRE PRESSURE AND BRAKE LIGHT. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE BRAKES WOULD WORK WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, BUT NOW THE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL OF THE TIME AND THE BRAKES WORK LIKE MANUAL BRAKES AT TIMES. THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK SO DRIVING ON WET ROADS IS DANGEROUS. I FEEL THERE IS A DIRECT DANGER TO MY LIFE AND THE PUBLIC'S SAFETY WHEN THIS VEHICLE IS ON THE ROAD. UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT I CAN DRIVE AT THE MOMENT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND NOTICE MY CAR FLAT. THESE WERE RELATIVE NEW TIRES. FOUND OUT THAT A TIRE WEIGHT PUNCTURE MY TIRE AND RUINED MY ALMOST NEW TIRES. NOT ANYTHING SHARP. NOT A NAIL. NOT A SPIKE BUT A FLAT WEIGHT DESTROYED MY TIRE GOING 30 MILES AN HOUR.. RIDICULOUS. CONTACTED COOPER TIRE AND SAID IT WAS NOT THE TIRE DEBRIS CAN RUIN A TIRE. IF THAT THE CASE IN FLORIDA CARS WOULD BE ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH FLATS. COOPER TIRE SHOULD HAVE RESISTED THE WEIGHT AND ONLY WOULD NOT UNLESS IT WAS DEFECTIVE. *TR
ENGINE IS CONSUMING 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE SIMILAR COMPLAINS AND ITS SEEMS THAT DEALERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT IT ALREADY. I STRONGLY BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT AND RECALL ALL TOYOTA CAMRY'S 2007. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THE DASHBOARD TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD IS ALWAYS IN A LIQUID STATE AND THE REST OF THE DASHBOARD IS SOFT. IN THE SUNSHINE AND AT NIGHT UNDER STREET LIGHTS THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS A GLARE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD THAT IMPAIRS THE DRIVERS ENTIRE VISION OF THE ROAD. ALSO ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD THE OUTLINE OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT CAN BE SEEN. I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THE DASHBOARD TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD IS ALWAYS IN A LIQUID STATE AND THE REST OF THE DASHBOARD IS SOFT. IN THE SUNSHINE AND AT NIGHT UNDER STREET LIGHTS THE DASHBOARD REFLECTS A GLARE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD THAT IMPAIRS THE DRIVERS ENTIRE VISION OF THE ROAD. ALSO ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD THE OUTLINE OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT CAN BE SEEN. I BELIEVE THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD IS A HAZARD AND DUE TO THE CURRENT CONDITION OF THE DASHBOARD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE LEAVING THE LOT. BIGGEST ISSUE BEING IN APRIL 2012 BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH CAR BURNING/LOOSING OIL. CAR WOULD LOOSE 1 QUART OR MORE WITH IN 200 MILES. HAVE TAKEN IT TO MECHANICSVILLE TOYOTA ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAD A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE ONLY TO BE TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NOT ONLY DUE TO MILEAGE BUT NOT BEING A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND NOT HAVING MY SERVICE WORK DONE THERE. MY HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC AND HAS DONE ALL THE SERVICE WORK BY THE BOOK. MY ISSUES HAPPEN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHERE THE CAR WILL JERK, SHAKE, ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE WHILE THE ABS LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL BLINK WELL OVER 20 TIMES BEFORE STAYING LIT. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH A CASE OF OIL IN MY CAR NEVER KNOWING WHEN I WOULD NEED TO ADD. I HAVE HAD TO BORROW A CAR FROM MY FAMILY AS I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS ONE. IT CAN AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT LEAVE ME OR JUST STALL WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE KEPT DETAILED NOTES FROM GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA WITH THE PISTON RINGS/SEALS, ETC. UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A SMELL SIMILAR TO THAT OF WHAT ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR SERVICE. ANYTHING RELATED TO AUDIO NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THE AUDIO FROM THE NAVIGATION UNIT, AM, FM, CD, SATELLITE RADIO, AUX AND BLUETOOTH WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. I WAS INFORMED WHAT HAPPENED WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WHERE THE SPRING ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE TRUNK POPS OUT OF PLACE, TOUCHES THE BACK SPEAKER AND CREATES A SHORT IN THE CIRCUIT. THE FUSE IN THE CIRCUIT BLEW BUT THE CURRENT KEPT GOING. I WAS TOLD THIS DESTROYED THE ENTIRE AUDIO SYSTEM AND IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $2000 TO REPLACE. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS, HOWEVER, IT IS AND HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE THIS WAS A PROBLEM THAT WAS KNOWN TO EXIST, AND NOTHING WAS EVER MENTIONED ABOUT IT OR DONE ABOUT IT TO CORRECT IT, TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED. I HAVE DECIDED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT DUE TO THE FACT THAT TOYOTA, INC. HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. IN 2012, I STARTED NOTICING SOME ISSUES WITH THE DASHBOARD. IT WAS VERY SHINY AND STICKY TO THE TOUCH. THE TEXTURE IS GUMMY AND WILL COME OFF IN YOUR FINGERNAIL IF SCRATCHED OR NICKED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA, WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALERSHIP, JOE MEYERS TOYOTA, IN HOUSTON, TX. I DID THAT AND ALSO GAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER, [XXX], THE LINK TO A YOUTUBE SITE OF SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. [XXX] TOLD ME THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN THAT ISSUE BUT SAID THAT HE WOULD GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF THE COST (FOR TOYOTA'S PURPOSES) AND SOMEONE WOULD BE IN TOUCH. TOYOTA, VIA EMAIL, INFORMED ME THAT [XXX] , WHO IS THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER, IS THE PERSON THAT I WOULD DEAL WITH AS FAR AS COMMUNICATION. WELL, I WAITED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND NEVER RECEIVED A CALL SO I EMAILED [XXX] , WHO SAID THEY WERE STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA. [XXX] CALLED ME A WEEK LATER AND GAVE ME AN INCIDENT #. A MONTH OR SO WENT BY AND I NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE. I CALLED [XXX] AND NEVER GOT AN ANSWER. I LEFT A COUPLE OF MESSAGES BUT NEVER RECEIVED A RETURN CALL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AGAIN AND WAS FINALLY TOLD BY SOMEONE WITH THE CORPORATE OFFICE THAT TOYOTA'S STANCE IS THAT IT IS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND IF YOUR VEHICLE OUT OF THE 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY, IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THE ISSUE DOESN'T OCCUR UNTIL AFTER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY IS OUT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OR MORE OF PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER WITH COMPLAINT OF ENGINE VALVE NOISE. DEALER SAID NO WAY VALVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CARS AT THAT MILEAGE. LEFT WITH $1800 IN NON-ASSOCIATED REPAIRS. NOTICED ACCELERATING CONSUMPTION OF OIL. TRIED AGAIN TO GET A FIX WITH PCV VALVE AND ALL FILTERS REPLACED. CONSTANTLY TOPPING OFF WITH OIL BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. WOULDN'T ACCEPT THE FACT THAT ENGINE VALVE SEALS WERE DEFECTIVE. NOT ON A TOYOTA WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES. FINALLY DID A MONITORING TEST A MONTH AGO AND REALIZED MY CAR HAD CONSUMED 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN ABOUT 1600 MILES. THE FIX COST ME ABOUT $2000. THEN I CHECK THIS WEBSITE ONLY TO FIND ABOUT 100 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY'S. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND TOYOTA'S CLAIM IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL THAT 1.1 QTS PER 600 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE IS RIDICULOUS. I'M CHECKING FOR PARTICIPATION IN A CLASS-ACTION SUIT. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED MY CAMRY, I NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS VERY SHINY AND I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT WAS DUE TO THE DEALERSHIP CLEANING IT UP FOR ME BECAUSE I JUST PURCHASED IT. SO ONE DAY I DECIDED TO TAKE MY HAND AND JUST RUB THE DASH TO SEE IF IT'LL TAKE SOME OF THE SHINE AWAY AND AS SOON AS I TOUCHED IT MY HAND GOT STUCK AND BURNT FROM THE HEAT OF THE "STICKY DASHBOARD" SO WHEN I GOT HOME I DECIDED TO TRY AND CLEAN IT WITH SOME SOAP AND WATER TO SEE IF IT'LL REMOVE THE STICKINESS AND UNFORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T WORK. MY COUSIN HAS THE SAME CAR AND I CALLED HER TO SEE WHAT I SHOULD DO AND MUCH TO HER AMAZEMENT SHE DISCLOSED WITH ME THAT SHE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH HER 2007 CAMRY AS WELL. SO I TOOK MY CAR TO A GUY WHO DETAILS CARS AND NOT ONLY DID HE STATE THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE ON THE 2007 CAMRY'S BUT HE HAS SEEN THE SAME ISSUE ON THIS SPECIFIC CAR IN OTHER STATES BECAUSE HE WAS FROM NY AND ALSO LIVED IN GEORGIA AND DETAILED CARS IN THOSE STATES AS WELL. THIS HAS BECOME A NUISANCE NOW BECAUSE IT IS BLINDING ME AS I DRIVE UNLESS I PUT A CLOTH OVER MY DASH AND THEN I HAVE TROUBLE REMOVING IT BECAUSE IT IS LITERALLY GLUED DOWN TO IT AFTER THE FACT. MY DAUGHTER UNBEKNOWNST TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS HOT DECIDED TO REACH UP AND WIPE IT SO THE GLARE WOULD GO AWAY AS WELL AND SHE BURNT HER HAND TOO. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED AS THIS IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT ON THESE CARS.
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR HAS BROKEN AND IS HANGING IN THE LINE OF VISION. THIS IS CAUSING AN OBSTRUCTION OF VIEW FOR THE DRIVER WHETHER IN THE FORWARD FACING POSITION OR ROTATED TO THE LEFT SIDE WHERE IT BLOCKS THE DRIVER'S VISION TO THE LEFT. THE VISOR WAS NOT BEING MISHANDLED WHEN IT BROKE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER CANNOT SEE PROPERLY AND CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN DRIVING AND TRYING TO DEAL WITH THE VISOR IN ORDER TO IMPROVE VISIBILITY OF THE ROAD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2007 CAMRY YET TOYOTA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE VISORS. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
CONCERNING THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR SUN VISOR; THE PLASTIC HOUSING OF THE VISOR SEPARATED FROM METAL ARM THAT ATTACHES TO THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE (THE PLASTIC CASING CRACKED). THE VISOR WAS DANGLING FROM THE METAL ATTACHMENT AND OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW, HITTING MY FOREHEAD AS I WOULD BRAKE OR ACCELERATE. HAD TO PULL IT OFF COMPLETELY TO AVOID VISIBILITY OBSTRUCTION, DISTRACTION FROM DRIVING, AND BEING STRICKEN ON MY FOREHEAD! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE OIL AND NOTICED THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OIL WAS CHANGED 4,700 MILES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ADDED ONE QUART OF OIL TO THE VEHICLE AND THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. AN OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, SIX DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO OIL LEAKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
ARRIVED AT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD, I ONLY HAD OIL IN MY OIL PAN, ENGINE WAS ALMOST OUT OF OIL, TOYOTA KNOWS OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM AS STATED IN THERE SERVICE BULLETIN. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE, I AM SEEING WHERE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA HYBRID VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 85,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS SEEMS LIKE AN EXTREME COST FOR ANYONE, INCLUDING ME, TO HAVE TO REPLACE ON A VEHICLE AS NEW AS THIS.
