TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE PARKED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED AND CONTINUALLY FELL DOWN, OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VISION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE VISOR WOULD ALSO FALL DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL, IT BURNS A LOT OF OIL OR ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION) AND THERE IS NO POWER AT THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG ON BOTH OF THEM. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THE FUSE FOR IT MUST BE BLOWN. I CHECKED THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD, BUT THERE IS NOTHING BROKEN.
WHILE DRIVING CAR, SMOKE AND HEAT STARTED COMING FROM UNDER DRIVERS SEAT,FRONT DASH, AND DRIVERS DOOR.THE VEHICLE THEN CAUGHT FIRE SO I PULLED OVER AND CALLED 911 AND FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED AND PUT OUT FIRE IN FRONT COMPARTMENT OF CAR . *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID'S DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSED BY THE MELTED SURFACE IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD TWO QUARTS OF OIL LEFT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPAIR THE RING SETS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MY '07 CAMRY HYBRID(CH) HAS STARTED TO EXPERIENCE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST DOCUMENTED INCIDENT: 03/09/12. W/O WARNING, THE CH WILL SHUT DOWN AND THE "CHECK VSC" LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASH. ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS LIGHT UP AS WELL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THERE WERE NO BRAKES, NO WARNING, ETC. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN "PARK", TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT, I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSIS: NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BRAKES, ETC(INV.#227594). OVER THE PAST 9 MONTHS, IT HAS OCCURRED A FEW MORE TIMES, USUALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE. WHEN IT HAPPENS,I TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, RESTART AND GO ON. ON 10/30/12 WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 35MPH, THE CAR SHUT DOWN, THE "CHECK VSC" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. SHE CAUGHT A LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS HORRIFYING FOR HER AND OUR KIDS. I CALLED AAA AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO TOYOTA. MY SERVICE ADVISOR(SA) TOLD ME THEY HAVE BEGUN TO SEE THIS HAPPENING A LOT AND HE PREDICTED THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR (BA) FAILED. I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE INCIDENT IN MARCH, WHICH HE ACKNOWLEDGED KNOWING OF. 2 HOURS LATER HE CALLED TO CONFIRM THAT IT WAS THE BA. WE SPOKE ABOUT IT BEING A DEFECTIVE PART, HE AGREED AND WOULD CALL AND SPEAK TO TOYOTA NATIONAL(TN)TO SEE IF THEY COULD HELP OUT WITH THE $2200 REPAIR. THE NEXT DAY HE TOLD ME THAT TN WOULDN'T HELP, AND NEITHER WOULD THE DEALERSHIP. MY ONLINE RESEARCH DISCOVERED MANY CH HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I DISCUSSED WITH THE SA THAT IF THE PART IS DEFECTIVE AND THEY ARE SEEING MORE AND MORE OF THIS, WHAT GUARANTEE IS THERE A NEW BA WOULDN'T REACT THE SAME WAY. HE COULDN'T GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULDN'T. I DECLINED TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE, AAA TOWED VEHICLE TO MY HOME. THE SA SEEMED CERTAIN THAT A RECALL WAS COMING. THE CAR IS GARAGED, I HAVE THE REPAIR EST/DOCUMENT. *TR UPDATED 07/30/13*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, A SMOKE ODOR CAME FROM THE WINDOW CONTROL PANEL. THE CONTACT THEN POURED WATER OVER THE CONTROL PANEL TO STOP THE PANEL FROM IGNITING INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 148,996.
I TOOK THE 2007 CAMRY WITH ABOUT 67,000 MILES TO THE REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE OF A SQUEALING NOISE: THE REAR ROTORS WERE WORN OUT COMPLETELY AND THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $459.00. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. SOMETIMES IT WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO THE LEFT. ON APRIL 5, I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THE FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE MACHINED AT A COST OF $85. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE OKAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CONTROL PANEL CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT AND A PASSENGER WERE ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 118,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY. WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM IT WAS BECAUSE THE OIL LIGHT FLASHED ON, AND THEN BACK OFF. BEING ON THE SAFE SIDE, I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL TO MAKE SURE THE LIGHT COMING ON BRIEFLY WAS NOT A FLUKE. TO MY SURPRISE, MY ENGINE WAS NEARLY BONE DRY. IF I HADN'T CHECKED THE LEVEL, THE ENGINE COULD EASILY HAVE SEIZED. I BROUGHT IT TO MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, MAGIC TOYOTA OF EDMONDS, WA, WHO COMPLETED AN "OIL CONSUMPTION CHECK" AND INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR'S BURNING OF OIL IS WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LIMITS. A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AGAIN. I HAD ONLY PUT ABOUT 2900 MILES ON IT SINCE ITS LAST OIL CHANGE AND, ONCE AGAIN, MY DIPSTICK SHOWED THE OIL LEVEL TO BE BELOW THE BOTTOM DOT WHICH INDICATES THE OIL IS DANGEROUSLY LOW. I AGAIN BROUGHT THE CAR TO MAGIC TOYOTA WHERE THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT I DIDN'T PROPERLY READ THE DIPSTICK AND THAT THEIR TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS ONLY 1/2 OF A QUART BELOW FULL. THEY MADE A MARK WITH A PEN ON A DRAWING OF THE DIPSTICK TO SHOW ME WHERE THE OIL LEVEL HAD BEEN. THIS WAS ENTIRELY UNTRUE AND FRAUDULENT! I BELIEVE TOYOTA IS COVERING UP AN OIL BURNING PROBLEM IN THE 2007 CAMRY. PLEASE HELP! *TR
ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHEN BRAKING IN CITY TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE FAILED AND BRAKING WAS LOST. ON TWO OF THE OCCASIONS I HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID COLLISION WITH THE MOTORIST IN FRONT OF ME AND APPLY VERY HEAVY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO HALT THE VEHICLE OVER A MUCH LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE THAN NORMAL. CONDITIONS WERE: DRY ROAD, NO BUMPS OR DEBRIS ON THE ROAD, STOP AND GO CITY TRAFFIC, GENTLE BRAKING PRESSURE ON PEDDLE WHEN INITIALLY TRYING TO STOP. VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED BY THE DEALERSHIP. INDICATORS: BIG RED BRAKES INDICATOR LIT UP, ABS LIGHT CAME ON, CHECK VSC SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON, ANTI SKID LIGHT CAME ON, TRIANGLE WITH (!) LIGHT CAME ON, ORANGE CIRCLE WITH (!) LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO UPDATED THE COMPUTER AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME. WITHIN THREE DAYS OF RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK, THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WITH THE SAME ABOVE CONDITIONS AND INDICATORS. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REMAINS THERE PRESENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP ASSERTS THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAULT CODES OR REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND ARE UNAUTHORIZED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS WITHOUT PROVING A PROBLEM EXISTS. I CONTACTED TOYOTA USA AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM AND AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS A RECORD OF THE SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THEM WITH THIS BRAKE FAILURE. I AM TERRIFIED OF AND WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW UNLESS A PROBLEM IS FOUND AND CORRECTED. CAN YOU PROVIDE ASSISTANCE OR ADVISE ON WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FORCE TOYOTA TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE? I NOTE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS REPORTED THIS FAILURE. I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY THAT IS A DEATH TRAP AND UNDER GOOD CONSCIENCE CAN NOT BE SOLD TO ANOTHER PERSON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTO ANOTHER GEAR. IN ADDITION, WHILE REVERSING, THE GEAR FAILED TO CHANGE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE CONDITION CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND DRIVING THE DRIVER SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. WITHIN SECONDS SMOKE WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW CONTROLS. PRIOR TO PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS DOWN. THE REAR WINDOW SWITCH WOULD NOT MOVE. THE DRIVER PULLED THE CAR OVER AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE SMOKE STOPPED COMING OUT OF THE WINDOW SWITCH. THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER APPROXIMATELY 1-1/2 TO 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHERE THEY ASSESSED THE PROBLEM AND DETERMINED THAT THE WINDOW SWITCH WAS BURNED OUT. THEY UNPLUGGED THE SWITCH AND ORDERED A NEW ONE WHICH WAS REPLACED ON 3/6/12. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF ANY FIRES SO FAR REPORTED, THAT HAVE OCCURRED SPONTANEOUSLY OR ONLY WHEN THE WINDOW SWITCH WAS IN OPERATION OR HAD BEEN USED SHORTLY BEFORE THE FIRE *TGW
DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE, PERMANENTLY IN DROPPED POSITION, HAMPERING VISION. *TR
2007 MODEL YEAR TOYOTA CAMRYS WERE MANUFACTURED USING A DASHBOARD MATERIAL THAT DETERIORATES WITH EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT. SPECIFICALLY, THE PLASTIC BECOMES VERY SHINY, VERY TACKY, AND EASY TO DAMAGE. WHEN THE SUN ANGLE IS CORRECT, THE LIGHT REFLECTS OFF THE SHINY PLASTIC, AND THEN REFLECTS OFF THE WINDSHIELD INTO THE DRIVER'S EYES, PRODUCING A GLARE THAT REPRESENTS, IN MY OPINION, A SAFETY HAZARD. A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF PLASTIC IS ALSO BEING DEPOSITED DAILY ON THE WINDSHIELD INNER SURFACE, PRODUCING A WHITISH HAZE THAT REDUCES VISIBILITY AND INCREASES SCATTERED LIGHT. NUMEROUS TOYOTA CAMRY (AND SOME LEXUS) OWNERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM, PRIMARILY IN LOCATIONS THAT RECEIVE MORE SUNLIGHT (FLORIDA, TEXAS, PUERTO RICO, AND HAWAII, FOR EXAMPLE, AS AN INTERNET SEARCH CAN EASILY SHOW; TO SEE A VIDEO, SEARCH ON YOUTUBE FOR "TOYOTA CAMRY STICKY DASHBOARD"). SOME 2008 MODEL YEAR TOYOTA CAMRYS ARE BEGINNING TO SHOW THE SAME PROBLEM. NOTE THAT 2007 WAS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE REDESIGNED CAMRY MODEL. MUCH OLDER CAMRYS ARE NOT SHOWING THIS PROBLEM, THUS IT SEEMS CLEAR THAT TOYOTA SWITCHED TO A DIFFERENT DASHBOARD MATERIAL STARTING WITH THE 2007 MODEL YEAR, BUT ONLY NOW IS IT BECOMING CLEAR THAT THE CHOSEN MATERIAL IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE INTENDED USE. TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR MONTHS, YET NO SAFETY RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AS OF THIS WRITING. *TR
DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM (HID) HEADLIGHT TURNS OFF BY ITSELF IN MANUAL AND AUTO MODES. TURNING THE LIGHT SWITCH OFF AND BACK ON BRINGS THE HEADLIGHT BACK ON BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD, THEN IT GOES OUT AGAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST BUT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND AT TIMES BOTH HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE DASH ON MY 2007 CAMRY HAS STARTED TO CHANGE. IT HAS BECOME STICKY AND IS STARTING TO PEEL AWAY FROM THE UNDERLYING FOAM. IT APPEARS TO BE WORSE ON THE UPPER PORTION OF THE DASH WHERE THE SUN/HEAT WOULD SHINE. WHEN I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT MY LAST SERVICE THEY SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT I MUST HAVE USED A CHEMICAL TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM THAT I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH ABOUT THIS AND THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MODEL. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED A NEW DASH. IT WOULD TAKE A DAY AND A HALF TO INSTALL AND COST JUST UNDER $2100. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW DECEMBER 2006. IT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF, NEVER USED ANY CHEMICALS ON THE DASH TO HAVE CAUSED THIS ISSUE. *TR
NOTICED STRANGE SOUND COMING FROM ABS ACTUATOR AFTER VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. HAD IT CHECKED AT TOYOTA DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ACTUATOR WAS NOT HOLDING PRESSURE. THE ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $2147.96. DEALER CONTACTED REGIONAL REP AND SUBSEQUENTLY DETERMINED THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER THE OUT OF WARRANTY WORK. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT TOYOTA HAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM AND WILL INVESTIGATE GETTING A REFUND. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY.. I HAVE HAD MY RECALLS FIXED. BUT NOW IT IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN.. THE OTHER DAY MY BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN THE FRONT OF ME AND MY CHILD WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME... I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS NO POWER GOING TO THE WHEELS. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT NO POWER WAS GOING TO THE WHEELS. LUCKILY, I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST AROUND A CORNER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND CAUGHT MY BREATH, AND THEN WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR IT RAN OKAY. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN--LOSS OF POWER--COASTING TO A STOP. I DOUBLE CHECKED AND THE CAR WAS IN FACT IN DRIVE--BUT NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE HYBRID ECM (WHICH THEY HAVE RETAINED) AND THE PARK/NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. (WHICH I HAVE). *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR DETACHED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR DETACHED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
2,000 MILES AFTER AN OIL CHANGE I NOTICED THAT MY OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON SPORADICALLY. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS THREE QUARTS LOW. THE CAR ONLY HOLD FOUR QUARTS OF OIL, SO THIS WAS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING. A MECHANIC CHECKED OUT MY CAR AND SAID THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS, EVERYTHING WAS STILL FACTORY SEALED, AND HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY IT WAS CONSUMING SO MUCH OIL. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE 1000 MILES LATER, AND 2000 MILES AFTER THAT I WAS LOW ON OIL AGAIN! ACCORDING TO THINGS I'VE READ, THIS CAR CONSUMES ROUGHLY 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,200 MILES IT IS DRIVEN. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY TOYOTA. *JS
I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING GARAGE WITH THE CAR RUNNING I WAS SPEAKING ON THE PHONE VIA THE VEHICLES BLUETOOTH. UPON ENDING THE CALL I EXITED THE CAR TO ENSURE IT WAS PARKED PROPERLY BETWEEN THE LINES AND CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE WALL IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. I THEN RETRIEVED MY LAPTOP BAG, COAT AND HAT FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE BACKSEAT. I PUT MY COAT ON CLOSED IT UP, PUT ON MY HAT AND EXTENDED THE ARM ON MY LAPTOP BAG. I THEN CLOSED THE BACK DOOR AND TURNED TO RETRIEVE ITEMS FROM THE FRONT SEAT AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. AS I TURNED TO RETURN TO RETURN TO THE FRONT SEAT DOOR THE CAR FLEW OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. AS THE CAR PASSED ME AND THE CAR BESIDE ME THE FRONT DOOR SWUNG COMPLETELY OPEN. I RAN AND CHASED THE CAR FOR FEAR IT MIGHT HIT SOMEONE AND ALSO ASSUMING I DID NOT PLACE THE CAR IN PARK. UPON JUMPING INTO THE MOVING CAR THE FIRST THING THAT HIT ME WAS THE BRIGHT "P" LIT UP ON THE DASH INDICATING THE CAR WAS ALREADY IN PARK. I ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND ALSO CONSTANTLY PUSHING THE GEAR UP. FINALLY BOTH MY ACTIONS AND THE CARS ACCELERATION WERE STOPPED BY THE SLAMMING OF THE CAR INTO A CEMENT WALL. WHILE I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF THE ACTUAL IMPACT THE VISIBLE SIGNS UPON MY BODY WERE A LARGE RED KNOT OVER MY RIGHT EYE AS WELL AS SCRAPED AND BLOODY KNEES. AFTER FINALLY TURNING THE CAR OFF THE CAR FAILED TO START UP AGAIN. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED BY MY HUSBAND TO THE CAR MANUFACTURER THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT AND WHILE THEY PROVIDED US WITH A 60 DAY MAXIMUM TIMEFRAME THE TIME HAS LAPSED AND WE STILL HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THE MANUFACTURER. WE JUST MOVED TO NEVADA AND BEGAN NOTICING THAT AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 75MPH THAT THE CAR WILL MAKE A RUBBING, GRINDING SOUND IN THE FRONT END FOR THE NEXT TEN+ MILES AT LOW CITY SPEEDS. IT IS DEFINITELY CONNECTED TO THE FRONT WHEELS AS THE SOUND SPEEDS OR SLOWS AS THE DRIVING SPEED DOES. IT IS BECOMING LONGER AFTER EACH TRIP TO TOWN. WE DRIVE 50 MILES AT THE HIGH SPEED TO GET TO THE METROPOLIS. ALL DRIVING IS ON PAVED ROADS. CONCERN THAT WE MAY HAVE FRONT END PROBLEMS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. I JUST GOT IN THE CAR AND WAS DRIVING WHEN I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. HI, I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IN FEBRUARY OF 2007. FAST FORWARD 5 YEARS AND 114K MILES AND MY CAR WON'T KEEP OIL IN IT. NO LEAKS, THE CAR BURNS OIL! I CALLED A FRIEND WHO IS ACTUALLY A TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AND HE SAID OIL BURNING IN THE 2007 CAMRYS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. A GOOGLE SEARCH PROOVES IT. THERE ARE TONS OF POSTS FROM ANGRY, ONCE LOYAL TOYOTA OWNERS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA IS VERY AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THEY SAY IT IS "NORMAL" FOR THEIR CARS TO BURN A QUART EVERY 600 MILES SO WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, YOU SHOULD JUST KEEP PUTTING OIL IN THE CAR. I TOOK MY TOYOTA IN TO TOYOTA RIVERSIDE CALIF. BOTH VISORS WOULD NOT STAY UP SO THE REPLACED AND CHARGED ME 223.26. ON MARCH 20TH 2015 THE DRIVERS SIDE WOULD NOT STAY UP AND I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND THE REPRESENATIVE SAID SINCE MY CAR WAS A 07 IT ONLY COVERED FOR THE RECALL 7 YEARS AND MY CARS MANUFACTURE DATED SEPT 07 SO I WAS 6 MONTHS TO LATE TO GET THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. SO I CALLED TOYOTA MOTOR CORP IN TORRANCE AND THEY INFORMED THAT SINCE I PAID FOR THE VISORS TO GET FIXED AND PAID FOR THEM THEY WOULD GIVE ME A REFUND BACK. THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TO GET FIXED AND I TOLD THEM THAT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY KNEW I HAD ALREADY REPLACED THEM AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DID THE SAME THING AS THE ORIGINAL DEFECT. I THINK THIS IS THERE ISSUE TO REPLACE THE VISOR EVEN THOUGH IT WAS 6 MONTHS TO LATE FROM THE DATE THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED. AN ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY LOCATED IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. I DROVE MY CAR THE NEXT DAY TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER FOR SERVICE AND REPAIR. I PAID VENTURA TOYOTA $437.36 IN PARTS AND $57.50 IN LABOR TO REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY. *TR
THE SUN VISOR IS NOT HOLDING UP IN DRIVER SIDE. IT KEEPS FALLING DOWN AND CAUSES LOOSING VISIBILITY. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY (AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD) AND NEITHER WILL IT STAY UP (AGAINST THE CAR INTERIOR CEILING). WHEN IT FLOPS DOWN IT OBSCURES VISIBILITY INTO THE REARVIEW MIRROR AS WELL AS OUT THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO ANTICIPATING WHEN IT WILL COME DOWN. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY IS TO PUSH IT AGAINST THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, THUS OBSCURING THAT VIEW AND PROVIDING NO PROTECTION AGAINST THE SUN'S GLARE WHEN NEEDED. I HAVE READ COUNTLESS ACCOUNTS OF THIS SAME SITUATION AMONG OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE. I HAVE READ THAT SOME PART OF THE VISOR IS DEFECTIVE AND HAS BEEN REDESIGNED. I GOT A CASE NUMBER FROM TOYOTA, TOYOTA TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY MY AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY IS THAT THE MOTOR WOULD HAVE TO BE IN THE CAR DASH BOARD TO PROTECT THE DRIVER. SO SHE KNOWS THAT THE CAR AIR BAG WAS WORKING PROPERLY.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID FOR 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS. IN SNOWY AND SLICK CONDITIONS, THE BRAKES STOPPED FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. ABS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE REGENERATIVE BRAKES STOPPED FUNCTIONING. HYDRAULIC BRAKES FUNCTIONED, BUT THE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THEY ENGAGED AND THEN THE BRAKES ENGAGED VERY SHARPLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY (I HAVE READ THIS IS THE "FAIL-SAFE" BEHAVIOR WHEN A COMMUNICATION ISSUE OCCURS IN THE SYSTEM). AT THE SAME TIME, THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" NOTIFICATION CAME ON. THE RED BRAKE LIGHT, ABS INDICATOR LIGHT, SKID INDICATOR LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT, ORANGE CIRCLE WITH EXCLAMATION LIGHT (BRAKE FAILURE INDICATOR, IT LOOKS LIKE ((!)) ) ALL LIT. ALL WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED LIT AND THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO BEHAVE BADLY FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK UNDER A VARIETY OF WEATHER AND TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS. BRAKES WERE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND STOPPING WAS UNSAFE (A LOT LIKE A NEW DRIVER STRUGGLING TO LEARN TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT...EXCEPT THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC AND THE UNPREDICTABLE JOLTING WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE BEHAVIOR, AS OPPOSED TO A DRIVER UNFAMILIAR WITH USING THE CLUTCH). WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN FOR SERVICE, THE TECHNICIAN FOUND MANY FAILURE/ERROR CODES HAD BEEN RECORDED IN THE COMPUTER AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT. SO MANY ERRORS THAT THE RECOMMENDATION WAS TO CLEAR THEM AND RECALIBRATE THE COMPUTER TO SEE IF THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE COMPUTER WAS 'RECALIBRATED' AND THE CAR WAS EXTENSIVELY DRIVEN BY THE TECHNICIAN. NOTHING RECODED. THE BRAKES NOW BEHAVED NORMALLY. EFFECTIVELY THE BRAKES FAILED BECAUSE THE COMPUTER "WENT HAYWIRE". RECALIBRATING THE COMPUTER SEEMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. SO THERE WAS A MAJOR BRAKE ISSUE THAT HAPPENED SUDDENLY, WAS NOT RELATED TO A COMPONENT FAILURE, THAT APPARENTLY CAN RECUR AT ANY TIME. *TR
