THE SUN VISOR HANGS DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, NATURALLY, CREATING A HAZARD. THE ITEM HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE PRIOR TO NOW (5/9/09 & 6/24/2010) FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH WE PURCHASED IN 2007 FROM MIKE ERDMAN TOYOTA IN MERRITT ISLAND, FL. IN 2009, WHILE CLEANING THE DASHBOARD WITH A DAMP CLOTH WITH WATER, I NOTICED THE TOP OF THE DASHBOARD WAS GUMMY AND STICKY. I GOOGLED INFORMATION ON THIS IN 2009, BUT THERE WASN'T A LOT OF INFORMATION ON IT BACK THEN. SINCE THEN, MY DASHBOARD HAD GOTTEN WORSE AND THERE IS A GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD THAT MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ON APRIL 17, 2014, I CALLED MIKE ERDMAN TOYOTA WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND THE SERVICE AREA REPRESENTATIVE, [XXX] TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY WERE INFORMED BY TOYOTA THAT ONLY CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE BEEN "LOYAL" CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE WORK DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. I WAS APPALLED THAT SHE WOULD SAY THAT TO ME. I TOLD HER THAT I GO WHERE I WANT TO GO TO GET MY CAR SERVICED AND I FELT THAT WHAT SHE JUST SAID TO ME WAS LIKE BLACKMAIL. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER BUT SHE SAID SHE WOULD TALK TO HIM. SHE CALLED ME BACK THE SAME DAY AND SAID THE MANAGER WOULD GIVE ME AN ANSWER TOMORROW (4/18/14). BY 5:00 ON 4/18/14 WHEN I DIDN'T GET A CALL BACK, I CALLED [XXX]. SHE SAID HER BOSS SAID THE COST OF THE JOB WOULD BE $1,652. AND THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME 20% OFF ($330.). I SAID WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A DEFECTIVE PART? SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I SAID IT IS. ALL SHE HAD TO DO IS GOOGLE TOYOTA CAMRY STICKY DASHBOARDS AND SHE WILL COME UP WITH A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. SHE SAID SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING SHE READS ON THE INTERNET. SHE ADMITTED TO ME THE DAY BEFORE THAT THERE WAS INDEED A PROBLEM. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. AT NO TIME DID THE FLOOR MAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA FOR THE PROBLEM WAS IN MAY 2009. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM, AND THE COMPANY HAD OTHER REPORTS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS. ACCORDING TO MY INVOICE FROM THE VISIT, TOYOTA PERFORMED THE FOLLOWING SERVICE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM: "RECALIBRATE ECM OP#EG8025. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THE ACCELERATION ISSUE SINCE MAY, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS ONLY SPORADIC AND OCCURRED NO MORE THAN TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE EXITING A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT INTENTION. AS A CONSEQUENCE SHE CRASHED INTO A PARK CAR AND THEN CONTINUED SPEEDING DOWN A HILL AND EVENTUALLY CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND A TECHNICIAN REMOVED THE FLOOR-MATS . THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24000, UPDATED 11/04/09. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE FLOOR MATS BECAME STUCK UNDER THE ACCELERATOR. UPDATED 11/05/09
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 80 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 86 MPH. SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. SHE SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO USE THE AUTOMATIC RESUME ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE COMPUTER HEADBOARD WAS PREVIOUSLY RESET. SHE HAS EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE TWICE. ON APRIL 22, 2009, AN OIL LINE PART #15707-31030 RUPTURED ON OUR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY VIN VERY RAPIDLY PUMPING OIL FROM THE ENGINE AND REQUIRING IMMEDIATE REPAIR. SINCE APRIL 2009, WHILE INVESTIGATING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIR COSTS, SEVERAL TOYOTA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIPS STATED THAT TOYOTA HAS IDENTIFIED THIS MODEL ENGINE IN AVALON VEHICLES AS HAVING THIS SAME RUPTURED OIL LINE DEFECT AS OCCURRED ON MY VEHICLE. SINCE JULY 2009 WHILE SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR ENGINE REPAIRS WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, I REQUESTED THAT THIS ISSUE BE PURSUED INTERNAL TO IDENTIFY THIS DEFECT THROUGH TECHNICAL BULLETIN OR RECALL FOR CAMRY VEHICLES. ON JANUARY 6, 2010, I SPOKE TO MIGUEL LOPEZ, SUPERVISOR, TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE, DEPARTMENT WC10, TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., REFERENCE THIS ISSUE AND HE STATED VERY CLEARLY THAT "NO ACTION OR FOLLOW-UP" PHONE CALLS OR OTHER COMMUNICATION WOULD BE TAKEN BY HIS OFFICE TO INVESTIGATE THIS SAFETY ISSUE WITH CAMRY?S. HE STATED THAT SAFETY CONCERNS WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN THROUGH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. MR. LOPEZ STATED HE WAS THE SENIOR SUPERVISOR AND HE WOULD NOT CONNECT ME TO ANY OTHER SUPERVISOR OR POINT OF CONTACT WITHIN TOYOTA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE USED OVER A QUART AND A HALF OF OIL IN LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON AVERAGE. HE FIRST NOTICED THE FAILURE IN APRIL 2009. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. HE WROTE LETTERS TO THE MANUFACTURER BUT RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,800. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,066. UPDATED 03/15/10
AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE CURB TO PARK, MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING IN QUAKERTOWN, PA. I PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND STOPPED THE CAR. DAMAGE TO THE BRICK BUILDING WAS EXTENSIVE. PROPERTY DAMAGE AMOUNTED TO $14,500 AND AUTO DAMAGE AT $750. REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE INSTALLED IN THE AUTO. BRICKWORK AND INTERIOR DAMAGE WAS TAKEN CARE OF. *TR
S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING RE TOYOTA PROBLEMS FM OWNER OF A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. *TGW WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WOULDN'T START. THE CONSUMER CHECKED THE OIL AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND CABLES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO CHECK WITH ANOTHER DEALER ABOUT THE VEHICLE BURNING OIL. THE OIL WAS ABOUT 2.3 QUARTS LOW. THE SHORT BLOCK, GASKETS AND SEALS WERE REPLACED. A COUPLE OF WEEK LATER, OIL WAS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SEAL AGAIN. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD HAD AN EXTREME GLARE AND WAS CAUSING DIFFICULTY WITH VISIBILITY WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED. THE DASHBOARD ALSO EXHIBITED CRACKS AND WAS TO THE POINT OF DETERIORATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED, DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
RESTON, VA, MARCH 29, 2009 I HAVE A GAS PEDAL PROBLEM. IT ACCELERATES BY ITSELF AND WHEN I TRY TO PUT MY CAR AT P (PARKING) THERE IS A BIG NOISE AND IT SMELLS LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. I HAVE GONE TO MY CAR DEALER 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. EACH TIME THEY SAID THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE 2 LAST TIMES I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALER THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT CARPET (FLOOR MAT) PROBLEM. MY LAST VISIT TO MY DEALER WAS ON 3/17/2009 AND YESTERDAY 3/28/2009 I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. I NEED SOME HELP FROM TOYOTA BECAUSE MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD. I AM STARTING TO BE AFRAID TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR AND HAVE AN ACCIDENT. ON MARCH 19TH, 2009 I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I WENT THROUGH A FOUR WAY STOP AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE CAR WAS DAMAGED AND I ENDED UP GOING TO THE HOSPITAL AND HAVING THE CAR TOWED. IT CAUSED A LOT OF PAIN AND SUFFERING AND EXPENSE. *TR
OIL SHOOTING FROM REAR OIL TRANSFER HOSE AT 84,116 EVEN THOUGH CAR WAS RECENTLY SERVICED. MECHANIC SAID TOYOTA IS CHANGING FROM MESH HOSE TO STEEL HOSE AND IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALL NOTICES HAVE BEEN SENT OUT. CAR WAS REPAIRED WITH NEW HOSE, OIL , FILTER AND ENGINE WAS STEAM CLEANED. ENGINE APPEARED OK BUT CAR COULD HAVE SEIZED ON THE FREEWAY AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I BOUGHT MY TOYOTA CAMRY BRAND NEW FROM ED MORSE TOYOTA OF DELRAY BEACH FLORIDA IN AUG 2007, IT WAS A BRAND NEW 2007 CAMRY LE, SIX CYLINDER, I REPORTED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE CAR WOULD STOP OR HESITATE, THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM, TODAY ON 3/16/2008 AT 11:02AM THE HESITATION CONTRIBUTED TO ME HAVING A SEVERE ACCIDENT AND WAS REPORTED TO FHP REPORT# FHPL090FF014673 I HAD BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE FOR HESITATION ISSUES ON 10/17/2007,11/28/2008, 2/25/2009. *TR
THE US FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION HAS DETERMINED IN ITS 2006 & 2007 REPORTS THAT THE TOYOTA CAMRY WAS THE HIGHEST LISTED VEHICLE TO BE ARBITRATED. THE FAILURE I ENCOUNTERED WAS THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE OR REACT WHEN YOU APPLIED THE GAS PEDAL, THIS IS DUE TO A SERIOUS GAP IN RESPONSE TIME DUE TO THE TOYOTA "DRIVE BY WIRE" PROCESS, SOFTWARE FLASH UPDATES PER THE TSB-ECM ARE NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM, WHICH LED TO MY ACCIDENT, THIS PROBLEM MAY HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF HARMS WAY. I ENCOURAGE TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS TO RETURN THEIR VEHICLES PER THEIR STATES RESPECTIVE LEMON LAWS OR THE FEDERAL MAGNUSON-MOSS ACT. 2006 TOYOTA HAS THE HIGHEST COMPLAINT RATING, 286 COMPLAINTS, TOTALING 83.9% OF THE COMPLAINTS. TOYOTA HAS THE TOP 3 SPOTS FOR COMPLAINTS ON THEIR VEHICLES THE TOYOTA CAMRY WAS THE MOST COMPLAINED ABOUT VEHICLE FROM EVERYONE IN ALL GROUPS 42 COMPLAINTS, TOTALING 12.3% OF ALL COMPLAINTS. 2007 AGAIN TOYOTA TOOK 85 COMPLAINTS, TOTALING 84.2% THE TOP 3 VEHICLES WERE FROM TOYOTA, THE CAMRY AGAIN IS IN PLACE NUMBER 3 12 TOTAL COMPLAINTS, TOTALING 11.9%, THE HIGHEST NOW 2 YEARS IN A ROW. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING OIL SUPPLY HOSE RUPTURED. AS A RESULT, ENGINE OIL SPRAYED ALL OVER THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, ENGINE, AND DOWN INTO THE TAIL PIPES. BOTH FRONT WHEEL WELLS BEGAN TO SMOKE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT FOUND LARGE PUDDLES OF ENGINE OIL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE OVER FIVE WEEKS TO OBTAIN THE PART (HOSE) NEEDED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS DUE TO A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 69,000.
WITHOUT WARNING, THE VVT OIL SUPPLY HOSE RUPTURED, SPRAYING ENGINE OIL ALL OVER THE ENGINE, UNDERCARRIAGE AND HOT EXHAUST OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE WITH THE 3.5 LITRE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE LOST ALMOST ALL OF IT'S ENGINE OIL IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS EVER CAME ON. TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AT PEAK OPERATING TEMPERATURES, THIS POSES A VERY SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. AFTER HAVING MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE RUPTURED HOSE WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND WOULD TAKE AT LEAST 5 WEEKS TO GET. I CONTACTED TOYOTA'S CORPORATE OFFICES AND WAS TOLD THAT PRODUCTION OF THE HOSES COULD NOT MEET THE DEMAND FOR THEM AND THAT IT MAY TAKE 5 WEEKS OR MORE TO GET THE PART AT MY LOCAL DEALER. I WAS INFORMED BY A VERY RELIABLE SOURCE THAT AT THE PRESENT TIME, TOYOTA HAS APPROXIMATELY 1100 VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME ISSUE ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THAT THE OIL HAS COVERED ALL OF THE RUBBER SUSPENSION PARTS FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR TAILPIPE TIPS. AFTER SITTING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, THIS CAN CAUSE CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE TO ALL OF THE RUBBER SUSPENSION PARTS. I FEEL THAT THE TOYOTA CORPORATION IS TRYING TO LIMIT IT'S EXPENSE FOR THESE PREMATURE FAILURES OF THIS OIL SUPPLY HOSE AND THIS POSES A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE SAFETY OF ANYONE RIDING IN THE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD CERTAINLY WARRANT A LOOK BY THE NHTSA AS IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM IS LARGER TAN THE ABILITY OF TOYOTA TO FIX. THIS ALSO PLACES AN UNWARRANTED BURDEN ON THE CUSTOMER WHO HAS TO PAY FOR A DEFECTIVE CAR THAT IS OUT OF SERVICE AND ALSO PAY FOR RENTAL TRANSPORTATION TO REMAIN GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. *TR
2007 CAMRY V6 WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH DOWNSHIFTING AND UPSHIFTING CONSTANTLY WHEN NOT NEEDED, HESITATING WHEN ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED DOWN. ALSO, THE CAR SOMETIMES SURGES WHEN BETWEEN GEARS, AND THEN DOWNSHIFTS VERY VERY HARD. THE DEALER HAS HAD ALL OF TOYOTAS TSB'S APPLIED FOR ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS, BUT THEY STILL EXIST. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME OTHER FIX FOR THESE PROBLEMS. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES BUT DOES NOT KNOW IF HE LOSS CONSCIOUSNESS OR NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE INSURANCE AND TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD 2 ACCIDENTS WHERE MY TOYOTA HAS ACCELERATED ITSELF AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS TO CRASH IN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME...THE BRAKE WOULD NOT WORK..AS A RESULT MY INSURANCE HAS GONE UP AND THE VALUE OF MY TOYOTA HAS GONE DOWN. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY ON ROLLING HILLS WHICH IS LIKELY GOING TO CAUSE COLLISIONS. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL ALLOW THE SPEED TO DECREASE BY AS MUCH AS 5 MPH WHILE DESCENDING DOWN THE A HILL, THEN AS IT BEGINS TO CLIMB IT QUICKLY ACCELERATES WAY OVER THE TARGET SPEED. THIS CAUSES A WHIPLASH EFFECT TO ALL PASSENGERS AND MAY CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND COLLIDE WITH VEHICLES. *TR
WITHIN THE FIRST AND SECOND YEAR FROM THE PURCHASE DATE , REAR WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED AND THE DEALER CHANGED IT, BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. AGAIN 2011 AUGUST THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED , I HAD TO REPLACE WITH 50 % COST COVERED BY THE DEALER. NOW FEB 2012 PASSENGER SIDE BEARING FAILED ALONG WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SWITCH. PARTS IN THIS CAR HAVE BEEN FAILING PRETTY FAST THEN EXPECTED. THIS IS THE WORST KIND OF FAILURE IN WHEEL BEARINGS FOR A SEDAN. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 CAMRY 4CYLDR AUTOMATIC, THAT HAS PROBLEMS ACCELERATING. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. FOR EXAMPLE IF I TAKE OFF FROM A RED LIGHT OR A STOP, THE CAR WILL HESITATE LIKE IT IS STALLING AND THEN WILL PROCEED TO TAKE OFF. THIS IS AN INCONSISTENT PROBLEM THAT WHEN I COMPLAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER EXAMPLE IS THAT THE CAR EXHIBITS IS THAT WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN BUT AS YOU RE-APPLY YOUR FOOT THE CAR WILL HESITATE OR STALL UNTIL YOU REMOVE YOUR FOOT AND RE-APPLY IT. I HAVE 60000 MILES ON MY CAR AND IT HAS HAD ALL THE TIMELY SERVICES DONE TO IT. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR UP UNTIL ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN THE PROBLEM BEGAN. ROUGHLY 45000 MILES AGO. I FEAR THAT THIS MAY RESULT IN AN INABILITY TO DRIVE DEFENSIVELY AND RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. NEITHER MY WIFE NOR I ARE AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS, AND WE DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS AS A RESULT OF HARSH DRIVING. I DID TAKE THE CAR INTO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT IF IT WAS PART OF THE GAS PEDAL RECALL THAT IS GOING ON AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT. THE RUST IS OCCURRING ON THE SECTIONS OF THE WHEELS THAT AREN'T COVERED BY THE HUB CAP, IN OTHER WORDS THE EXPOSED-TO-THE- ELEMENTS PART OF THE WHEEL. RECENTLY IT WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME THAT I REPLACE ALL 4 WHEELS BECAUSE THE RUST, AS IT'S GOTTEN STEADILY WORSE, WILL LIKELY AFFECT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE WHEELS AND COULD CREATE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING.

IT HAS BEEN ON AN ALIGNMENT RACK 3 TIMES AND EACH TIME NEEDING SMALL ADJUSTMENTS. THE CAR ALSO HAS A BINDING NOISE UPON TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT. CALLED DEALERSHIPS AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING OR EVEN CONFIRM THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH CAR. I AM DISGUISED. I HAVE SPENT OVER $1000.00 ON A CAR THAT IS STILL NEW. MY COMPLAINT CONCERNS MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH SEEMS TO BE SIMILAR TO A CURRENT OPEN INVESTIGATION # DP09-001. WHILE TRYING TO EXIT THE FREEWAY MY FOOT "STUTTER STEPPED" UP AND DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR TRYING TO MERGE TO THE PROPER LANE. I WAS "STUTTER STEPPING" BECAUSE THERE WAS A VEHICLE IN THE LANE I WAS TRYING TO CHANGE TO AND WE BOTH ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED AT THE SAME TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO CHANGE INTO EACH OTHER'S LANE. I ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIME. THIS MOTION ON THE ACCELERATOR SEEMED TO CAUSE THE ACCELERATOR TO "STICK" AND MY VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING OUT OF CONTROL. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN FAILED. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND AS I APPLIED FOOT PRESSURE. AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE OF SPEED (AND INCREASING) I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY STOP THE CAR BY APPLYING BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL USING MY BACK AGAINST THE SEAT TO GAIN LEVERAGE. I AM A 6'5" MALE WEIGHING 200+ POUNDS. THE CAR WENT INTO A SKID WHEN THE BRAKES KICKED IN ALLOWING ME TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT DAMAGE OR INJURY. THE CAR RESUMED ITS NORMAL FUNCTION AFTER THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RESPONDING THAT I FEARED FOR MY LIFE. MY RIGHT FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CONTINUED GOING FORWARD (THERE WAS NO CURB) UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A PIZZA RESTAURANT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE DRIVEN FIVE OR SIX MILES IN ORDER FOR THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON FOUR OCCASIONS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY. ALWAYS HAVE TO ADD 1 QUART OIL BETWEEN EVERY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE.
---------------------------------- I FEEL THESE RUNAWAY TOYOTA'S ARE CAUSED BY THERE VSC SYSTEM. THE VSC SYSTEM WILL TAKE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE'S STEERING, THROTTLE AND BRAKES.THIS SYSTEM HAS CAUSED ME EMBARRASSMENT AS WELL POTENTIALLY PUT ME AND MY PASSENGERS IN DANGER. I PARKED ON A SNOW COVERED PARKING SPOT IT WAS A SLIGHT DOWNHILL GRADE. WHEN ATTEMPT TO BACK THE CAR UP, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO. THE VSC TOOK CONTROL AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE THE ENGINE, SO THAT THE TIRES COULD CUT THOUGH THE SNOW TO GET A GRIP. MY PASSENGERS HAD TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND PUSH IT BACK TO A PLACE WHERE THE TIRES COULD GET A GRIP, THAT WAS THE EMBARRASSING PART, BUT WHAT IF THIS WAS A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT SITUATION? I COULD NOT HAVE MOVED THE CAR AND ITS PASSENGER TO SAFETY. I STRONGLY SUSPECT THE VSC SYSTEM TO BE THE CAUSE OF THESE ACCIDENTS. *TR
