IT HAS BEEN NOTICED THAT THERE IS A BATTERY ISSUE WHICH ALLOWS FOR ACID TO SEEP ONTO THE BATTERY CABLES AND LEAVES ACID ON TOP OF BATTERY TERMINAL AND CABLES. I KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHER TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS THAT HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THEIR VEHICLE. THIS ACID IS CORROSIVE AND HAS LEAD TO DAMAGED COMPONENTS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. IN AUGUST 2008, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND HIT TWO PARKED VEHICLES AND THEN CAME TO A STOP. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT TAKEN. IN OCTOBER 2009, AFTER TRYING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE SUDDENLY AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING BUT NO INJURIES WERE CITED. ANOTHER POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT BUT ONLY FOR BODY DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THE CRASH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,500. SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN TOYOTA CAMRY
"MELTING" DASHBOARD IN HEAT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IT GETS STICKY LIKE DUCT TAPE AND ULTIMATELY WEAKENS AND RUINS THE UPHOLSTERY ON THE DASH. TOYOTA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE. IT'S A SERIOUS ONE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO GAVE HIM AN AIR FRESHENER AND SPRAYED FOAM INTO THE VENTS. THE CONTACT HAD TO FREQUENTLY VISIT THE DOCTOR AND HE HAD SINUS INFECTIONS. I PURCHASED 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH IT. THE CAR HAS PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER EVERY TIME WE ACCELERATE. IT WILL NOT GO. THE CAR ALMOST STALLS OUT. I WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH MY TOYOTA CAMRY RE. THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM, FOR YOU TO SHARE WITH YOUR ENGINEERS. I LEASED MY 2007 CAMRY IN AUGUST 2007 (VIN [XXX]), A 4 CYLINDER MODEL. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR LATER, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY PASSING A CAR WHEN I NEEDED A SUDDEN BURST OF SPEED, SO I FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR HARD. (I WAS USED TO A 6 CYLINDER WHICH REACTS INSTANTLY.) THE ACCELERATOR SEEMED TO STICK AND I EXPERIENCED A RACING ENGINE THAT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE CAR BY PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND BRAKING (NEEDLESS TO SAY, A LITTLE SHAKEN). AFTER I TURNED IT OFF, I IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND AGAIN IT RACED. I TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND LET IT SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. AFTER RESTARTING IT, IT REACTED NORMALLY. I CAREFULLY DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS GIVEN THE FLOOR MAT EXPLANATION WHICH I ACCEPTED. I DID IN FACT HAVE MY FLOOR MATS LOOSE AND NOT IN THE PEGS. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A RECURRENCE. MY PERCEPTION IS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED WHEN I STOMPED ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTARTING WITHOUT INCIDENT, I AM SPECULATING THAT THE IGNITION SYSTEM WAS ABLE TO RESET ITSELF. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR WAS ACTIVATED, IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE WITH FORCE. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS CLEANED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,516 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,371.
ABOUT A YEAR TO YEAR AND A HALF AFTER PURCHASING MY CAMRY THE DASHBOARD STARTED BECOMING STICKY AND CAUSING A HORRIBLE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. EVERY TIME I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD IT WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT BUT THEY WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF IT AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME OVER $2000.00 TO FIX IT. EVEN WHEN I SWITCHED DEALERSHIPS I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. NOW IF IT IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WHY IS IT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED? THE GLARE DURING THE SUMMER IN FLORIDA IS REALLY BAD. THE GLARE HAS BEEN SO BAD THAT I HAVE ALMOST HAD A FEW ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF IT. I USED TO SWEAR BY TOYOTAS BUT NOW I DON'T THINK I WOULD EVER BY ONE AGAIN AFTER THIS. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF OUR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, THE DASHBOARD STARTED BECOMING STICKY AS IF A PASTE WAS ON IT. EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN BECAUSE IT WILL LITERALLY PEEL OFF. I DETERMINED THAT IT MELTED IN THE FLORIDA HEAT. AFTER HEARING THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER CARS AND LEAVING THE SAME DANGEROUS GLARE WHEN DRIVING I TOO AGREE THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AS I THOUGHT PREVIOUSLY. *TR
ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT SEEMED TO BE EASILY SCRATCHED AND CHIPPED. I HAVE MULTIPLE CHIPPED PLACES ON THE CAR THAT ARE BEGINNING TO RUST. IN ADDITION, THE CLEAR COAT IS GETTING THIN OR SOMETHING ON THE TRUNK OF THE CAR AND THE PAINT IS LOOKING VERY DULL. I ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF THE CAR AND WASHED AND WAXED IT OFTEN. THIS WEAK PAINT JOB WILL MOST DEFINITELY AFFECT RESALE VALUE. IN ADDITION, THE PLASTIC PIECES THAT ARE ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR HAVE COME LOOSE AND FALLEN OFF OR HAD TO BE TAKEN OFF ONE BY ONE. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AWAY ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. *TR
AIRBAG FAILURE - 2007 CAMRY LE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW DUE TO ITS AIRBAG SAFETY CLAIMS - 7 AIRBAGS WITH ONE TO PROTECT THE DRIVER?S LEGS. NONE DEPLOYED. I TRAVELED ON THE HIGHWAY 50-55 MPH, A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE CAR (BMW) IN FRONT OF ME AT RUSH HOUR ON A SUNNY DRY DAY. A CAR CUT IN FRONT OF THE BMW CAUSING IT TO BRAKE INSTANTLY, ALMOST COMING TO A STOP. DECELERATION WAS TOO QUICK. I WENT STRAIGHT INTO THE BMW AT FULL SPEED. THERE WAS NO TIME TO HIT MY BRAKES. MY CAR DIDN'T?T SWERVE OR DIVE. I WORE MY SEATBELT BUT LEANED FORWARD SLIGHTLY WHILE FIRMLY IN MY SEAT. MY CHEST STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING AN INWARD DISPLACED SPIRAL FRACTURE OF MY STERNUM. I ALSO SUSTAINED A LARGE GROIN BRUISE WITH AN INTERNAL BLOOD CLOT AND CHEST BRUISE DUE TO THE SEATBELT. IMMEDIATELY I HAD DIFFICULTY BREATHING, GOT OUT OF MY CAR, LIED ON THE PAVEMENT TO CATCH MY BREATH. POLICE/AMBULANCE CAME QUICKLY, PROVIDED OXYGEN, TOOK ME TO A HOSPITAL. I REMAINED IN INTENSIVE CARE FOR 2 DAYS. THE INSURANCE INSPECTOR & BODY SHOP INVESTIGATED THE CAR AND WERE SURPRISED THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T'T DEPLOY AND COULDN'T FIND A REASON WHY THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY GIVEN THE DAMAGE. THE RIGHT AIRBAG SENSOR WAS BENT. MY CAR WAS DEEMED TOTALED. I?M UNABLE TO RETURN TO MY PREVIOUS WORK SCHEDULE (LONG HOURS, INTENSE WORKLOAD) DUE TO CONSTANT PAIN. I MISSED 2 WEEKS OF WORK. DUE TO THE FRACTURE I CANNOT DRIVE FOR 6 WEEKS. I REQUESTED THAT TOYOTA EVALUATE THE CAR TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS A VEHICLE-SPECIFIC DEFECT OR THE ENTIRE LINE (TO PREVENT FUTURE INJURIES). INSTEAD OF DISASSEMBLY AND COMPUTER ANALYSIS, TOYOTA ONLY REVIEWED PHOTOS AND SAID IT FUNCTIONED AS EXPECTED." THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND THE IMPACT STRAIGHT ON AND HIGH SPEED. IF NOT SUFFICIENT TO ACTIVATE THE AIRBAGS, THEN WHAT'S THEIR PURPOSE? THE VEHICLE IS IN STORAGE FOR EXAMINATION. POLICE REPORTS AND PHOTOS AVAILABLE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JULY OF 2008, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RPM GAUGE WOULD JUMP BACK AND FORTH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS LATER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. WHEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY BEGAN TO GAIN SPEED, SHE DROVE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
THE SUN VISOR ON MY 2007 CAMRY WILL NOT STAY UP. IT IS ON THE DRIVER SIDE, SO IT ACTUALLY IS A HAZARD IN THAT IT BLOCKS MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING. *TR
SOON AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, WE DISCOVERED A TERRIBLE PROBLEM WITH THE CARS ACCELERATION. IT ONLY HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY; WHEN YOU WERE SLOWING THEN HAD TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WOULD RESULT A LONG HESITATION. THIS VERY OFTEN PUT THE DRIVER IN DANGER. SOON AFTER THE PURCHASE, WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALER. THEY TOLD US THAT THE CAR WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED WITH THE NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT ADJUSTS TO DRIVERS HABITS. WE HAVE BEEN LIVING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW, AND HAVE DECIDED TO GET RID OF THE CAR. PRIOR TO SELLING IT, I DID A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET LOOKING TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. I FOUND AN ARTICLE AT THIS CONSUMER AFFAIRS LINK. FIRST EXPERIENCED PULSING BRAKES WHEN SLOWING ON HIGHWAY. AT APPROX. 12,000 MILES RETURNED TO DEALER HAD ROTORS RESURFACED. SAME THING HAPPENED AT 25,000 MILES AND JUST ABOUT EVERY 15,000 MILES. HAD ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED AT APPROX. 36,000 MILES, AND RESURFACED AGAIN AT APPROX. 60,000. NOW HAVE 78, 000 MILES AND HAVE TO HAVE THIRD SET OF ROTORS. THIS WILL BE THE FIFTH BRAKE REPAIR IN 78,000 MILES, EITHER PADS, RESURFACING, OR ROTORS. YES, TOYOTA HAS A CAMRY BRAKE PROBLEM.
MY 2007 CAMRY LE V6 ONLY HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED WHEN ACCELERATING. THE GEAR DOES NOT SHIFT AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN. VERY SCARY. ALMOST GOT HIT ON FREEWAY WHEN IT DID THIS. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM. CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE IS A STRONG URINE SMELL AFTER THE USE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER. CONSUMER DOESN'T FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE IS A WIND SOUND WHEN DRVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SOUNDED AS IF THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS YET TO BE FIXED. SHE BELIEVES THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE FIXED DUE TO THE WARRANTY. *KB THE LOCK ON THE SEATBELT WAS INOPERATIVE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ENGAGING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE JERKED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN THROUGH WATER AND IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE FAILURE, THE FRONT ROTARY BRAKES NEEDED TO BE SHAVED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHO DECIDED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. OWNER CONTACTED DISTRICT SERVICE MANGER AND DISTRICT SALES MANGER. UPDATED 10/05/2011 *LN *TR
DASHBOARD IS MELTING. WHENEVER SUN IS UP, REFLECTION FROM THIS MELTED DASHBOARD ON WINDSHIELD IS SO BAD, YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE GOOD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING, A GLARE FROM THE MELTED DASHBOARD MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1805140953. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
ENGINE SLUDGE: ENGINE STARTED MAKING A NOISE, SO TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY INSPECTED IT SAID IT HAD ENGINE SLUDGE. THEY TOLD ME I NEVER CHANGED MY OIL AND I USED THE WRONG VISCOSITY, I USED 5W30 INSTEAD OF 5W20 RECOMMENDED, NOT REQUIRED RECOMMENDED. THIN OIL IS MANDATED BY FEDERAL STANDARDS FOR MILEAGE PURPOSES ONLY. I CHANGE MY OIL EVERY 5000 MILES, AND TOLD THEM SO. AT THAT TIME THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED THE ENGINE REBUILT, IT WILL COST $8000 OR 9000 TO FIX IT. AND THEN THEY VOIDED MY WARRANTY. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD IT HAD A BAD COIL, IT WAS ONLY RUNNING ON 3 CYL. THEY REPLACED ALL THE COILS, THEY SAID IT RAN GREAT FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES, THEN IT STARTED RUNNING WORSE THAN BEFORE. THEY CONTACTED CORPORATE TOYOTA TO FIND A FIX, THEY TOLD THEM TO CEASE WORKING ON IT, AND PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT CAME IN THAT THE WARRANTY WAS VOID. SINCE THIS HAPPENED I HAVE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT TOYOTA'S ENGINE SLUDGE PROBLEMS. GOING BACK AS FAR AS 1996. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN OR ATTEMPT TO STOP, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN HE REMOVED HIS FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. HE WAS FORCED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. ON THE DATE IN QUESTION, I WAS STANDING STILL AT A RED LIGHT. THERE WAS HEAVY RAIN. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 CAR-LENGTHS AHEAD OF ME. TRAFFIC SUDDENLY CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I HIT MY BRAKE, SKIDDED THE ENTIRE DISTANCE BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME AND HIT IT IN THE REAR. MY ENTIRE FRONT-END WAS SMASHED IN; THE VEHICLE I HIT WAS A LATE MODEL FORD EXPLORER WHICH SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, HOWEVER, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, MY ENTIRE FRONT END WAS DEMOLISHED AFTER PROCEEDING A SHORT DISTANCE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID CEASED FUNCTIONING (LOST ALL PWER) WITH 13,300 MILES ON IT. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, FOLLOWED BY A WARNING SAYING CHECK ENGINE, FOLLOWED BY AN EXCLAMATION POINT. I WAS 200 MILES FROM HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAVE LOOKED ON-LINE AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS WERE NOT ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THOSE VEHICLES. THE APPLIQUES ACT LIKE A MIRROR AND CAN DIRECT THE SUN'S RAYS DIRECTLY AT THE EYES CAUSING TEMPORARY VISION PROBLEMS. WE PUSH DOWN THE ACCELERATOR AND HAVE TO PUSH A LITTLE HARDER TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING. WE ENTER THE INTERSECTION AND GO TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, WE ARE MOVEINAT APPROXIMATELY 3 - 6 M.P.H. THE TRANSMISSION IS IN 1ST GEAR AND THEN NOTHING. THE CAR HESITATES AND WILL NOT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. MY NEXT REACTION IS TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR HARDER, NO RESPONSE, PUSH HARDER AND THEN THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE. THIS HESITATION IS DANGEROUS. IT IS LONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE A COLLISION. I KNOW AND EXPECT POWER TO BE DRAINED OFF THE ENGINE WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS USED. WE HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES WITH AC. THIS IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER HESITATION OR SLUGGISH ACCELERATION. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE TOYOTA DEALER STATED THAT THE MOST LIKELY EXPLANATION WAS BECAUSE OF AN IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THE VALVE SENSORS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED BECAUSE IT HAS NOT BEEN PROPERLY DIAGNOSED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING PERFORMANCE. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NOT STRUCK. THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO HER NECK, BACK, AND FEET. THE KILLEEN POLICE DEPARTMENT FILED REPORT NUMBER 08-1463. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100.

I RETURNED TO DESERT TOYOTA ON 1/30/08 INVOICE TOCS264822 AND THEY OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA #080300212. ON 4/18/08 INVOICETOCS273903 FIELD TECHNICIAN LOREN MUNCEE CAME TO TOWN TO EXAMINE THE CAR. HE COMPARED IT TO A CAR THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY EQUIPPED EXACTLY LIKE OURS AND SAID IT DID THE SAME THING OURS DID. HE ALSO NOTED THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL FAILURES ON 4/28,29,AND 30 I SPOKE TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DEALT WITH JULIE(1800-331-4331 EXT 73115) I WAS TOLD THAT TOYOTA HAD DONE ALL THEY WERE GOING TO AND MY NEXT STEP, IF I WAS NOT SATISFIED, WAS ARBITRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN AND THEY RECHECKED THE COMPUTER, BUT FOUND NO FAILURES. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, PARTICULARLY WHEN I BRAKE AND DECELERATE FROM ABOVE 30MPH, THEN MAKE A TURN, SUCH AS EXITING AN OFF RAMP, AT ABOUT 5-20 MPH, I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO ACCELERATE OUT OF THE TURN, AND THE THROTTLE DOES NOT RESPOND FOR ABOUT 3 TO 15 SECONDS. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHERE I CANNOT DEPEND ON THE VEHICLE RESPONDING TO THE THROTTLE ALLOWING ME TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS UNDER OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, AND IS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE, BUT THE ABOVE SCENARIO IS THE MOST CONSISTENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE SECOND TIME AND WAS TOLD: '..THAT IS THE WAY IT IS..' AND "..THIS IS HOW THE FLY-BY-WIRE SYSTEM WORKS IN THE CAMRY.." BY THE SERVICE TECH OF POWER TOYOTA IRVINE ON TUESDAY APR 29. HE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ENCOURAGED ME TO SPEAK WITH THE TECH ROBERT WHO KNOWS HOW TO WORK AROUND THE ISSUE BY MANIPULATING THE THROTTLE AND RECOMMENDED THAT I COMPLAIN DIRECTLY TO TOYOTA. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT IF I BUG TOYOTA, THEY WILL BE MOTIVATED TO '.. FIX THE SOFTWARE, PUT A NEW COMPUTER IN IT, OR TAKE CARE OF YOU SOME OTHER WAY..' *TR
