OIL CONSUMPTION
VINYL DASH PAD IS MELTING AND GLAZING FROM SUN EXPOSURE CAUSING REFLECTION ONTO WINDSHIELD CAUSING SEVERE GLARE OBSTRUCTION OF VIEW.
I NEEDED TO SLOW FOR TRAFFIC CONGESTION. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK. SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON INCLUDING THE CHECK HYBRID ENGINE, THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM, AND THE ABS LIGHTS. THE POWER BRAKES WERE OFF AND IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. THEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY REQUIRING ME TO MANEUVER OUT OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 10 MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A TOYOTA DEALER WHO SAID SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS IF GAS CAP IS LOOSE. I WAS TOLD I COULD LEAVE AND THEY WOULD TROUBLESHOOT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I LEFT AND CONDUCTED MY OWN TROUBLESHOOTING ON GOOGLE AND SOUNDS LIKE A BRAKE ACTUATOR PROBLEM DUE TO SIMILAR ISSUES WITH OTHER OWNERS. TOYOTA HAS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO MAKE AMENDS. PLEASE ADVISE.
THE HYBRID BATTERIE IS NOT RESPONDING WITH THE CARS VELOCITY. IT TURNS OFF IN THE MIďDLE OF MY TRIP. I WORRY FOR MY SAFTEY AND MY FAMILIES BCUS I FEAR TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THAT REASON
IN OCT2017. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE DO TO AN OIL BELL TELLING ME OIL WAS LOW. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO OIL IN THERE AT ALL..AND COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAK. THEY TELL ME IT IS THE PISTONS AND OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE TO ADD 2 QUARTS OF OIL A WEEK OF MY OWN. I NEVER GOT A LETTER FROM TOYOTA STATING A PROBLEM OR HOW TO FIX IT..I WANT IT FIXED.
"ABS ACTUATOR" TOYOTA KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2007 CAMRY HYBRID ABS ACTUATOR, MY DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME 10/23/2017 THAT MY ABS ACTUATOR IS GOING OUT. IF THIS HAPPENS IT WILL BE HARD TO STOP AND OR STEER MY CAR WHICH IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WANT TO BE SURE THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN LODGED WITH THE NHTSA.
"ABS ACTUATOR EXTENDED WARRANTIES", IN 2014 MY CAR HAD TWO ISSUES WITH THE ABS ACTUATOR AND MY DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO GET THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FROM THEM. NOW MY CAR IS DISPLAYING "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" AND MANY LIGHTS ON MY DASH. WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN TO MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT IS THE ABS ACTUATOR AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA HAD 2 EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR TROUBLE WITH THE ABS ACTUATOR. BOTH OF THESE WARRANTIES HAVE NOW EXPIRED SO MY ABS ACTUATOR CANNOT BE FIXED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES. BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY PART AT ANYTIME I AM DRIVING I CAN LOSE BRAKING AND STEERING POWER. I HAD FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE WITH YOUR AGENCY FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO HAVE THE PART CHANGED WHEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES WERE IN-FORCE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR AND AS I SAID EARLIER MY DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FROM THE FIRST TIME THESE ISSUES OCCURRED.
BRAKES SUDDENLY LOCK UP WHEN BACKING UP. CODE COMES UP ABNORMAL, ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR.
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS PRIOR TO 10/12/2017, I HAD BEEN NOTICING A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE TO START THE CAR AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE VENICE TOYOTA DEALER ON 10/05/2017, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR WAS FAILING. ON 10/12/2017, ALL OF THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON MY DASHBOARD: ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, ETC., AS WELL AS THE WORDS "CHECK VSC SYSTEM." ON 10/13/2017, I HAD THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY VENICE TOYOTA, AT A COST OF $1990.00. THREE YEARS PRIOR, IN JANUARY 2014, I HAD ALREADY HAD THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED DUE TO THE VERY SAME FAILURE.THERE WERE MANY REPORTS TO THE NHTSA AT THAT TIME FOR THE SAME MAKE VEHICLES AND YEAR RANGE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER TOYOTA ISSUED A VEHICLE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR THE ACTUATOR SYSTEM, AND I WAS EVENTUALLY REIMBURSED BY TOYOTA FOR THAT REPAIR. BUT NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN THREE YEARS LATER. CLEARLY THERE IS STILL A WEAKNESS IN THE ACTUATOR SYSTEM, AND I EVEN WONDER IF MY SYSTEM WAS REPLACED BY THE EXACT SAME UNIMPROVED PARTS. TOYOTA IS UNWILLING TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAILURE OR FOR ITS REPAIR. MY CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE FOR ITS AGE, CURRENTLY AT 95,000. ALSO, I ONLY PUT ON 26,700 ADDITIONAL MILES SINCE THE ACTUATOR SYSTEM FIRST FAILED 3 YEARS AGO.
BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR. 3 YEARS AGO, THERE WAS A EXTENDED WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR A INTERNAL LEAK IN THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (C1391). THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOW, THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AGAIN. HOWEVER THIS TIME, ITS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND IS A GOING TO A 2K REPAIR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.
BURNING 1 QT OF OIL EVERY 600 MILES
CAR WAS PARK AND SHUT OFF AND A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS SMOKING FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE AND CAUGHT FIRE.
ABS AND WARNING SIGNS WERE ON DASH. 1ST TIME EVER HAPPENED. ON A BUSY INTERSECTION CAR WAS BARELY STOPPING. ONCE REALIZED CAR WAS NOT STOPPING GOT OFF BUSY INTERSECTION AND GOT TO SAFE AREA. BRAKES DID NOT WORK AT ALL.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY CE HAS A PROBLEM WITH DASH BOARD. ALL GAUGES GOES UP AND DOWN. I HAVE VIDEO. I TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND BASE ON THE SCANNER EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT FINE. NO CODE INDICATOR. THERE ARE MANY FORUMS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE ENCOUNTERING. THIS PROBLEM MUST BE A RECALL. IT DOES IT WHILE I'M DRIVING.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IS DROOPING AND DOES NOT STAY IN POSITION. IT ALWAYS TILTS DOWNWARD. THIS RESULTS IN OBSTRUCTED VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. TOYOTA WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN POL12-03 DOES NOT COVER THIS DEFECT FOR MY VIN #; THEREFORE, I DID NOT FIND OUT ABOUT THIS WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN BEFORE THE EXPIRATION PERIOD OF SEVEN YEARS FROM FIRST USE. CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY INDICATED THAT THIS REPAIR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR MY CAR SINCE IT IS NOT ON THE LIST OF AFFECTED VIN #S. THIS SUN VISOR SHOULD BE THE SAME PART NUMBER FOUND IN AFFECTED VIN #S. FROM SEVERAL ONLINE TOYOTA CAR OWNER FORUMS, THIS TYPE OF ISSUE IS COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR OWNERS OF CARS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN BECAUSE THEIR VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE LIST.
ENGINE CONSUMES 3 TO 4 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 500 TO 700 MILES
ENGINE BURNS OIL, THERE IS A RECALL ABOUT IT. PANAMA CITY TOYOTA DOESN'T WANT TO APPLY THE RECALL.
THE EXCELERATOR PEDEL HAS A SLIGHT PLAY IN IT WHEN YOU FIRST STEP DOWN ON THE PEDEL.
WHEN I START THE CAR BRAKE LIGHT IS ON AND AFTER FEW MINUTES MESSAGE COMES AS CHECK VSC SYSTEM AND ITS NOT GOING AWAY.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY CAMRY IS MELTING CAUSING A STICKY RESIDUE. MY SAFETY CONCERN IS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, SUN CAUSES A GLARE ON TO THE WINDSHIELD PREVENTING ME FROM SEEING ANY ON COMING TRAFFIC, OR OBJECTS. WITHOUT CLEAR VISIBILITY DRIVING THIS CAR HAS CAUSED ME SEVERAL NEAR HEAD ON COLLISIONS WITH ONGOING TRAFFIC. DRIVING THIS CAR I PURCHASED SCARES ME THAT THIS IS ISSUE WILL CAUSE ME AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD TAKE MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE ON ROAD I MAY HIT. TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE DASH ISSUE YEARS PRIOR BUT ONLY FIXED SOME OF THIS DEFECTED DASHES BY CREATING A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT. IF THE PROBLEM WAS PRESENT OR KNOWN IT WAS REPLACEABLE WITH IN THEIR WINDOW OF TIME, THEY WILL NOT MAKE THEIR DEFECTED DASH CORRECT. I REALIZE OVER TIME ALL COMPONENTS OF A CAR HAVE WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS NOT THAT ISSUE AT ALL. THIS IS A ISSUE OF A DASH BEING USED THAT HAS A CHEMICAL WHILE IN SUN MELTS. THERE WAS TWO PRIOR CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AND TO PREVENT A RECALL AND NOTIFYING ALL OWNERS OF THIS DEFECT AND CORRECTING IT FOR THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS IN THEIR PRODUCT BUT ALSO DRIVERS IN OTHER AUTOS WHICH ARE NOW AT DANGER IF THIS VIABILITY CAUSES A CAMRY DRIVER TO COLLIDE WITH THEIR AUTO. THIS DEFECT EFFECTS ALL DRIVERS ON THE HIGHWAY NOT JUST THE TOYOTA DRIVERS. I HAVE BEEN TO AND CALLED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE AND MY FEAR OF DRIVING. I HAVE SIMPLY BEEN ABLE TO GET NO RECOURSE FOR THIS DEFECT. I AM VERY AWARE OF THE COST TO FIX THIS DEFECT HOWEVER I FEEL THE COST OF EVERY LIFE REPLACING THIS DASH SAVES IS WORTH WELL MORE THAN THE COST TO REPLACE THE DEFECTED DASH. I PLEAD FOR YOU TO INVESTIGATE A HUGE PROBLEM & THE TRAP INVOLVED WITH THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT TOYOTA IMPLEMENTED VERSUS RECALLING THE DASHBOARDS, GETTING THEM OFF THE ROAD TO MAKE HIGHWAY DRIVING SAFER FOR NON TOYOTA OWNERS SIMPLY DRIVING & OWNERS WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY PAY WITH THEIR LIFE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW. FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS I'VE EXPERIENCED MORE THAT AVERAGE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP LAST YEAR REGARDING THIS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL ON EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. WHEN THE FIRST TEST RESULTS CAME OUT I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR PASSED THE TEST AND THAT IT DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. WHEN THE FOLLOWING OIL CHANGE WAS DUE I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP JUST TO GET THE SECOND OPINION ON THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I INFORMED THEM THAT THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND TIME I WAS REQUESTING THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR MY VEHICLE. SURPRISINGLY THE RESULTS CAME OUT THE SAME WAY, THAT MY CAR PASSED THE TEST. AS OF RECENT, THE SITUATION HAS BECOME WORSE. I'M SUPPOSED TO TURN IN MY CAR AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 5,000 MILES PER TOYOTA STANDARDS, BUT AFTER ABOUT 700 TO 800 MILES MY ENGINE BEGINS GIVING NOISES WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR, WHICH OVER TIME I CAME TO LEARN THAT THIS KIND OF NOISE IS AN INDICATION THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS VERY LOW AND I NEED TO ADD MORE OIL. MY CAR IS NOT LEAKING ANY OIL, IT'S CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO. I AM CONSIDERING DOING THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST TO ANOTHER REPUTABLE DEALERSHIP WITH NO CONNECTIONS WITH TOYOTA TO SEE HOW THE RESULTS ARE GOING TO BE. IN THE MEANTIME I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A HELP FROM THE NHTSA BECAUSE I BELIEVE TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR ACTIONS. THANK YOU
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE THAT MY TOYOTA HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I REACHED 100,000 WHICH JUST HAPPENED RECENTLY. ACCORDING TO TOYOTA, MY OPTION FOR COVERAGE ENDED 8/2016. I'M BEING PUNISHED FOR HAVING CONSERVATIVE MILES. CRIMINAL AND DECEIPTFUL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRESTIGE TOYOTA (16 MCKEE DR, MAHWAH, NJ 07430, 844-838-7792) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,430.
TOYOTA ISSUED TSB FOR "EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION". I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEIR 'TEST' (I.E., MORE THAN 1 QT OF OIL IN 1,200 MILES) AND JUST BARELY "PASSED". BUT THE PROBLEM GROWS WORSE OVER TIME AND NOW BURNS OIL EXTREMELY QUICKLY. BUT TOYOTA TOLD ME TODAY THAT SINCE THE CARE IS NOW MORE THAN 10 YEARS OLD, THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO FOR ME. WHY WON'T TOYOTA JUST DO A "RECALL" TO FIX THIS OBVIOUS PROBLEM?
TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID 2007 ENGINE OIL BURNING TOO FAST, I DRIVE ONLY 1500 MILES AFTER CHANGED MY ENGINE OIL. IN THE LAST TIME IT WAS DECREASED 1100 MILES. ALSO MY ENGINE COVERED BY ENGINE OILS AND LIKING EVERYWHERE. SECOND, I DROVE YESTERDAY AND MY BRAKE STUCK AND CANT STOP. IT WAS HAPPENED ME SECOND TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, HE WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S SON HAD TO ABRUPTLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT WAS TOO LATE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S SON CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS INJURED, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
ON MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID, AS I WAS BACKING UP, THE BRAKES WENT SOFT TO THE FLOOR, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGAGED. IT BRAKED SO HARD, IT FELT LIKE A HIT SOMETHING. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON, AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAYED.
CAR CONSUMES A LOT OF OIL WHERE THE ENGINE MAY RUN OUT OF OIL AND SEIZE UP. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT CONSTANTLY CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL. THE CAR CAN USE AROUND A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I'VE BEEN LOW 2.5 QUARTS OUT OF 4.5 QT CAPACITY WHICH I BELEIVE DAMAGE THE ENGINE.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING! THIS IS IMPACTING VISIBILITY BY CAUSING EXTREME GLARE SO THAT IT'S DIFFICULT TO SEE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD ON SUNNY DAYS. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND APPARENTLY OUR DEALERSHIP HAD THE WRONG CITY LISTED FOR OUR ADDRESS WHICH MEANS WE DIDN'T GET THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND NOW WE ARE OUTSIDE OF THE 10 YEAR WINDOW BECAUSE WE PURCHASED IN NOV OF 2006. GIVE ME A BREAK! THIS IS ONE OF 5 TOYOTA'S WE CURRENTLY OWN AND THE REASON WE BUY TOYOTA'S IS BECAUSE THEY LAST. OUR CAMRY JUST HIT 84K MILES AND I EXPECT IT TO LAST MANY YEARS TO COME, BUT THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING! WE CALLED TOYOTA TODAY AND THEY SAID "I'M SORRY BUT YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW WE OFFERED FOR SERVICE" AND "I'M SORRY YOUR DEALERSHIP DIDN'T PROPERLY UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS WHEN YOU GAVE IT TO THEM....BUT YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE WINDOW". THIS IS RIDICULOUS. HOW CAN A MELTING DASHBOARD NOT BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IT'S MAKES VISIBILITY DIFFICULT DUE TO GLARE AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. OURS DIDN'T BECOME A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS SUMMER AND NOW WE FIND OUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN IS CLOSED. I SEE ONLINE PEOPLE ARE WAITING YEARS TO GET REPLACEMENTS....THIS IS JUST TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. THE DASHBOARD IS DEFECTIVE AND TOYOTA IS NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY HERE. THESE CARS ARE BUILT TO LAST DECADES AND TO HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN AND NOT AN OFFICIAL RECALL IS JUST WRONG. WE NEVER RECEIVED DOCUMENTATION AND THE PROBLEM BECAME SEVERELY WORSE THIS SUMMER. WE'RE ABOUT A YEAR PAST THE 10 YEARS AS WE BOUGHT OUR CAR IN NOV OF 2016. WHAT CAN WE DO? THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE STICKY GOO THAT IS NOW MY DASHBOARD. YOU JUST CAN'T SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD ON SUNNY DAYS, IT'S A TRAVESTY.
RECENTLY PURCHASED (AUG 2017) A CAMRY AND NOTICED THE DASH WAS STICKY AND PLANNED TO CLEAN IT WITH AN ADHESIVE REMOVER; HOWEVER, IT ISN'T JUST STICKY IT HAS ACTUALLY MELTED AND BECOME SHINY CAUSING A BLINDING GLARE ON SUNNY DAYS AND WHEN MEETING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT NIGHT. CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED MAY 2017 (TOLD ME IT WAS ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO HELP ME NOW). SOMETHING THAT WAS DEEMED UNSAFE AND NEEDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY RECALL ISSUED IS NO LONGER UNSAFE TWO MONTHS LATER?
I HAVE TAKEN FAIRLY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR THROUGHOUT THE TIME I HAVE HAD IT WHICH IS ALMOST 10 YEARS BUT THE MILEAGE IS ONLY AT 130,000. I WAS DRIVING ONE DAY AND THE CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF BUT I HAD NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE, EVEN NEVER HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SO THIS CAME AS A SURPRISE. I HAD JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGED ABOUT 2 WEEKS PRIOR AND HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE AT THAT TIME AS WELL. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY BELIEVED THEY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS APPEARING. THEY FIXED SAID PROBLEM BUT THEY REALIZED THE CAR WAS STILL DISPLAYING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ALSO REVVING. THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER SO THEY COULD READ WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY. THEY ENDED UP DIAGNOSING THAT ONE OF THE CYLINDERS WAS MISFIRING AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED A COMPLETE OVERHALL/REPLACEMENT. THE ESTIMATE GIVEN WAS $6000 FOR THE ENGINE (THIS SITE DID NOT ACCEPT THIS AMOUNT) AND ANOTHER AMOUNT WHICH I CAN'T RECALL FOR THE LABOR. I HAVE NOT YET DECIDED WHAT I WILL DO BUT WANTED TO LOOK UP ANY ENGINE RECALLS OR ISSUES OTHERS WERE HAVING WITH THEIR CAMRYS AND CAME UPON THIS SITE.
OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. OIL LIFT GOING ON HALF WAY NOT KNOWING IF THE ENGINE WILL BRAKE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT
AT ALL TIMES, WHEN THE CAR IS ON, THE ABS ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY IS RUNNING ALMOST CONSTANTLY AND THERE IS AN AUDIBLE LEAK FROM THE UNIT. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE LEAK IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING UNIT TODAY AND SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER TOYOTA'S SERVICE EXTENSION PROGRAM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS NOT SAFETY RELATED, YET WHAT BROUGHT ME INTO THE DEALERSHIP WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY. IMMINENT LOSS OF BRAKING SEEMS MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN POWER WINDOWS, BUT I GUESS TOYOTA DOESN'T THINK SO.
AM A PERSON WHO ALWAYS GET MY OIL CHANGE ON TIME SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR. HOWEVER, OVER THE LAST YEAR, I HAVE NOTICE THE FOLLOWING ISSUES: MY 'OIL PRESSURE' LIGHT COME ON HALFWAY THROUGH YOUR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. MY ENGINE BURN THROUGH AS MUCH AS 1 QUART OF OIL IN 1,200 MILES I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON AUGUST 10, 2017 LOCATED ON 1000 BLAIRS BRIDGE RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122. THEY CHECKED MY VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THE FOLLOWING: I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE BURNING THROUGH OIL IS 'NORMAL' AND 'NOTHING TO BE ALARMED OF' THEY ACKNOWLEDGE DAMAGED, OIL-DEPRIVED ENGINE ONLY TO DENY WARRANTY COVERAGE; THEY QUOTED ME OVER 3,000 TO GET FIXED TWO WEEKS LATER, I CHECKED MY OIL AND I WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. OVER TIME, THIS ISSUE IS GETTING WORST. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE WITH NO RESOLUTION; I CONTINUE TO LEAVE MESSAGES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED SINCE THIS ISSUE IS COMMON IN 2007 SOLORA'S.
FAULTY DASH MELTING AND STICKY CAUSING A HIGH SHINE ON DASH THAT IMPAIRS VISION DAY AND NIGHT BY CAUSING GLARE ON WINDSHIELD.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON DASHBOARD ON MY VEHICLE AND TOYOTA WON'T REPLACE THE DASH NOW BECAUSE THEY SAY THAT THE REPLACEMENT PERIOD IS OVER NOW HOWEVER I'M MILITARY AND THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DEPLOY. I HAVE TRIED CALLING THEM HOWEVER THEY DON'T HAVE ANY ANSWERS FOR ME. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

THE LOCAL DEALER (WEST BERRY TOYOTA IN WEST BERRY, NEW YORK) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LR ABS SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING, I READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS (OVER 197 COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PROBLEM ON 2007 CAMRY LE'S) TO YOUR SITE WITH SAME PROBLEM: WARNING LIGHTS , SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE AT "0", ETC. COST TO REPLACE ABS SYSTEM OVER $2,500. SOMEONE SAID THE ABS WAS ONLY TO PREVENT SKIDS AND EVEN THOUGH SPEEDOMETER IS NOT SHOWING SPEED, THAT NO OTHER PROBLEM SUCH AS SUDDEN STOP, OR BRAKE FAILURE, ETC WOULD HAPPEN, COMPLAINTS ON YOUR SITE SHOW THAT OTHER PROBLEMS, CAN RESULT, WHAT CAN WE DO? MY CAR MILEAGE IS 79,899. THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM STARTED APPROX. AUGUST 2017 - -
THE DASHBOARD APEARS TO BE MELTING.BECAUSE THE DASH IS MELTING IT GIVES OFF A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT AFFECT VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS TURNED INTO A STICKY MESS THAT NO STORE BOUGHT CLEANER CAN CLEAR/CLEAN OFF. I FELL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS IF AFFECT THE VISIBILITY OF THE DRIVER.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO BROKEN ANKLES, CUTS, AND BRUISES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID HAD A HIGH LEVEL OF OIL CONSUMPTION FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT IT.... WHEN I WOULD TAKE IT TO GET OIL CHANGES THERE WOULD BE NO ADVISING OF A LEAK, SO WHILE I THOUGHT IT TO BE VERY ODD AND INCONVENIENT I CONTINUED TO TOP OFF MY VEHICLE , AS FREQUENTLY AS MY CHECK ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. ON JULY 26,2017. MY "CAR MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" LIGHT CAME ON I TOLD MYSELF I'D GO TO THE MECHANIC ON THAT WEEKEND WHICH WAS ONLY A COUPLE DAYS AWAY. ONLY JULY 27,2017 ON MY WAY TO WORK I STARTED TO HEAR A VERY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. I HAD NO CLUE WHAT THE NOISE WAS BUT I PULLED INTO AN AUTO ZONE AND POPPED THE HOOD. IT WAS THE ENGINE THAT WAS KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND I CHECKED THE OIL. THE DIPSTICK WAS BONE DRY. WHERE DID 5 QUARTS OF OIL GO IN LESS THEN 3,000 MILES OF DRIVING? WHY WAS THERE NO ENGINE OIL LOW WARNING ON MY CAR? I TOOK THE CAR TO A SHOP WHERE MY ENGINE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD, WHICH TOYOTA CHARGED ME $115.00 TO DIAGNOSE. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THESE MODELS WERE NOTORIOUS FOR DRINKING UP OIL AND I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT IT. THE TOYOTA REP SAID THERE WAS LETTERS SENT OUT BEFORE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE! THERE WERE NO LETTERS MAILED TO ME AND I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE RIGHT AROUND THE EXACT SAME TIME THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE TOYOTA MECHANIC SAID I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND A REBUILD ENGINE IS $5,000 OR I CAN BUY A BRAND NEW ENGINE FOR 12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THE ONLY REASON I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A TOYOTA WAS BECAUSE OF HOW THEY'RE WELL KNOWN FOR LASTING FOREVER. HOW WAS A SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SITUATION? AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND I HOPE THEY PLAN TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. TOYOTA SEINNA 2007 BACK DOOR STRUTS FAILED, HITTING ME ON THE HEAD WHEN I WAS PARKED LOADING GROCIES. VAN WAS NOT RUNNING.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (PAULY TOYOTA LOCATED AT 1035 S 11 ROUTE 31 CRYSTAL LAKE, IL 60014), BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07E082000 SINCE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ON MARCH 22, 2010. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,422.
BOUGHT CAR USED A YEAR AGO. HAD OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT 74,000 MILES WITHIN TIME FRAME ALLOWED. WAS TOLD ENGINE WAS GOOD. NOW, AT 80,000 MILES OIL IS AT BOTTOM TIP OF OIL DIP STICK. I CALLED DEALER WHERE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS DONE. WAS TOLD "WE ONLY ADDED A QUART..." AT TEST'S CONCLUSION. I WAS NOT TOLD AT THE TIME OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST'S CONCLUSION THAT A "QUART WAS ADDED." SINCE I WAS NOT TOLD A QUART WAS ADDED, I WASN'T AWARE I HAD TO WATCH MY OIL. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, OIL LIGHT FLASHED BRIEFLY BUT I COULDN'T MAKE-OUT WHAT IT WAS. FOLLOWING DAY, UPON STARTING VEHICLE, IT FLASHED AGAIN. ANOTHER DAY AND IT STAYS ON VERY BRIEFLY BUT LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO FIGURE THAT IT WAS THE OIL LIGHT. I LET CAR SIT ON FLAT SURFACE FOR AN HOUR, CHECKED OIL AND IT JUST TOUCHED TIP OF DIPSTICK. I ADDED TWO QUARTS OF OIL.

CHECK VSC SYSTEM AS WELL AS ABS AND TIRE LIGHTS COME ON. KNOWN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA. HAD A MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, BUT WON'T HELP ME BECAUSE IT DIDN'T START TO OCCUR UNTIL 1 MONTH AFTER EXPIRATION DATE. THEY DON'T SEND NOTIFICATIONS. YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHICH COULD BE AFTER IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT!

I WANTED TO CLEAN MY DASHBOARD ONCE IN SUMMER AND I SAW THAT IT'S COMING OFF AND IT'S STICKY AND I COULD SEE MY FINGERNAIL PRINTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND EVEN WHILE DRIVING IT EASILY GETS DENTED BY MY NAILS. BUGS AND DUST GET ATTACHED TO IT, AND THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO REMOVE THEM WHICH IS A HEALTH HAZARD. ALSO, ITS REFLECT ON THE WIND SHIELD SPECIALLY IN SUNNY DAYS, WHICH IS ALMOST EVERYDAY IN TEXAS, BLOCKS MY EYE SIGHT AND I HARDLY CAN SEE PASSENGERS OR TRAFFIC SIGNS WHICH IS REALLY DANGEROUS. AFTER SOME READINGS I FOUND THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL THAT I MISSED. I EMAILED TOYOTA AND FILED A COMPLAINT, BUT I GOT DISREGARDED. I CALLED AND YOU TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY OF YOUR CAR HAS BEEN EXPIRED WHICH WAS MAY 2017. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2016 AND BY MAY 2017 THERE WAS NO SUMMER OR HOT WEATHER. I NEVER GOT ANY EMAIL OR NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA TOLD ME YOU MUST PAY FOR THAT BY YOURSELF. I AM JUST A STUDENT AND CANNOT EITHER AFFORD REPLACING THE DASHBOARD OR CHANGING MY CAR. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH THIS ISSUE AND I COULD NOT FIND A REAL SOLUTION FOR MY MELTING DASHBOARD. THE MAKER SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS WITH SUCH ISSUES.
DRIVER & PASSENGER SUN VISORS HAVE EITHER FALLEN OFF COMPLETELY AND/OR NO LONGER ABLE TO STAY UP AND OUT OF WAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. WE'VE REPLACED THESE VISORS 2 TO 3 TIMES, AT LEAST ONCE WITH DEALER. NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALL THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED THE MORNING OF 7/18/17, WHEN DRIVER SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY BECAME LOOSE FROM ITS UPWARD POSITION AND RELEASED TO AN UNSTABLE DOWNWARD POSITION. THIS SUDDEN OBSTRUCTION NEARLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AS THE VISOR BLOCKED THE DRIVER'S VIEW WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION, BUT WAS REQUIRED TO HOLD THE VISOR OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE BEING ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TRY TO MANEUVER VISOR UPWARDS TO LOCK IN PLACE TO NO SUCCESS. DRIVER AT THAT POINT HAD TO REMOVE VISOR FOR SAFETY REASONS. PASSENGER VISOR ALREADY FELL OFF EARLIER ON ITS OWN AND NOW THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAS BEEN REMOVED; VEHICLE NO LONGER HAS SUN VISORS. VEHICLE OPERATOR LIVES IN CENTRAL ARIZONA WITH CONSISTENTLY "VERY HIGH" UV INDEX. THE LOSS OF VISORS MAKES THIS CAR DIFFICULT TO DRIVE DURING DAYTIME, EVEN WITH INDEPENDENT EYE PROTECTION (IE: SUNGLASSES) AS WELL AS WITH HE VISORS' UNRELIABILITY TO REMAIN ATTACHED TO THE CAR'S INTERIOR.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR RETAINING MECHANISM BREAKS AND THE VISOR DROPS DOWN AND BLOCKS THE DRIVERS VISION. THE DRIVER MUST MANUALLY HOLD THE VISOR UP WITH ONE HAND TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD.
