ABS, BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON
TAKATA RECALL LESS THAN 4 YEARS ALTHOUGH WITH LITTLE HIGH MILEAGE, MY BRAND NEW 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY MAKES NOISES WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO BALISE TOYOTA SCION OF WARWICK TO CHECK AND SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION AT MY OWN COST. AND THE NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. WHY IS A BRAND NEW LESS FOUR YEARS OLD CAR NEED REPLACING TRANSMISSION? I HAVE 2 FRIENDS WHO OWNED THE SAME CAR AND MODEL AND YEAR, AND THEY HAVE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION. THEY HAD THEIR TRANSMISSION REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF LOWER MILEAGE. THEREFORE, I THINK 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY'S TRANSMISSION HAS PROBLEM.
TIRS GO DOWN BACKED SEAT BELT DON'T WORK SPEED DON'T WORK WELL
Ever since I purchased vehicle back May 2016 with 24K miles on it (currently has 107k miles on it) the car has been vibrating between 35mph - 45mph. I took it to the dealer over 3 times within 30 days of purchase and they couldn’t figure it and replaced tires. They said it vibrates because roads are uneven. Didn’t feel like dealing with dealership and left it at that. Last year in 2021 I decided to research it and found out it’s a known issue (Torque converter) needs to be replaced. Toyota would always email me but for the “ warranty repair” they sent it to my old address. I took it to a Toyota dealer to have it inspected now say that if I want it repaired, I have to pay $2500. I even reached out to corporate July 2021 to see if they would ear 50% of costs and declined. Toyota NEEDS to take care of this properly!
THE CAR HESITATES FOR THREE TO FIVE SECONDS AFTER DECELERATING, OR WHEN TURNING A CORNER, TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND TOLD ME THERE ISN'T ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CARE. THEY LIE. OVER 200 PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM WITH TOYOTAS ON ONE SITE ALONE.
THIS SITUATION HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH. WHEN I HAVE SITTING AT A LIGHT OR ON IDLE. MY TRAC, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUE TO COME ON EVERY OTHER WEEK OR SO. I HAVE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE FROM OTHER CAMRY'S OWNER ONLINE. WHEN THEY GO TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TELL THEM IT IS A SENSOR. BUT IT IS NEVER RESOLVED. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR? I ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR. THIS IS SCARY FOR ME DUE TO ME HAVING 2 KIDS.
WHEN I AM DRIVING BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 35 TO 55 THERE IS A VIBRATION AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS GRINDING, I TOOK IT TO THE CAR DEALER SHIP AND WAS TOLD THIS HAS BEEN A ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL AND THAT WE CAN EITHER CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THREE SEPARATE VISITS OR ADD A VIBRATION STABILIZING ADDITIVE. THE ADDITIVE WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS BUT IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE NOW THEN BEFORE. I BELIEVE IF TOYOTA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY SHOULD FIX IT AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER I STILL OWE 13,000.00 ON MY CAR AND DO NOT FEEL IT SHOULD BE MY RESPONSABILITY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. IT MAKES YOU FEEL AS IF IT IS GOING TO BREAK DOWN AT ANY MOMENT NOT SAFE FOR A WOMAN.

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS LIGHTLY DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT TO HIT A TRAFFIC POLE. THE CONTACT APPLIED FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SURGE FORWARD. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
LEFT FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. PLACING RIGHT FOOT ON ACCELERATOR. ACCELERATION STARTS HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY HESITATES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. TRAFFIC IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING VEHICLE ARE FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY BACK OFF ACCELERATION CAUSING NEAR TERM COLLUSION. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION.
JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AND THE FRONT BUMPER RIVETS CAME A LOOSE WHILE DRIVING CAR CAUSING THE PLASTIC COVERING IN THE FRONT THE PROTECTS CAME APART. AND I WAS ON 35 COMING FROM DALLAS TEXAS TO AUSTIN TEXAS.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT FAILURE HAD BEEN PRESENT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT SEEMED TO BE GETTING WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM; HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
ALUMINUM TIRE RIMS BIND TO THE STEEL BRAKE DISKS THEY MOUNT ON MAKING THEM IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF IF YOU HAVE A FLAT TIRE. MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO INCLUDE A LEVER OR HAMMER OR SOME WAY TO PREVENT THIS. I HAD A FLAT ON A BUSY FREEWAY, THE STICKING TIRE MADE A DANGEROUS MOMENT A LOT WORSE.
I REAR ENDED A JEEP WRANGLER GOING ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE. THE JEEP WAS STATIONARY AND MY CAR WAS IN MOTION MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I HIT MY FOREHEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH CAUSED A LARGE KNOT AND CUT ON MY FOREHEAD.
IN SPITE OF NEW BRAKES, 2 ALIGNMENTS AND 2 DIFFERENT SETS OF TIRES THE CAR, PURCHASED AS A CERTIFIED TOYOTA IN DEC 2015, CONTINUES TO WANDER ALL OVER THE ROAD/TRACK POORLY AND WILL PULL QUICKLY TO THE RIGHT WHEN I BRAKE ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE HAD TWO CLOSE CALLS OF NEAR HITTING THE CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE PULL. THIS CAR WAS IN TENDED FOR MY TEENAGER BUT IN ALL GOOD CONSCIOUS THE ISSUE IS OF SUCH CONCERN I DO NOT FEEL IT WOULD BE SAFE FOR HER TO DRIVE. I HAVE THE TOYTOTA DEALER I PURCHASED FROM THAT MY ONLY RECOURSE IS TO TRADE IT IN AND ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER STATING THAT IT IS INHERENT TO THE VEHICLE.
DOOR CHECK SPOT WELD FAILURE ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR
REAR WINDOW DEFROST QUIT WORKING. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID GROUND WIRE MELTED OFF GLASS. GROUND WIRE IS HOUSED INSIDE BACK PANEL. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT HAS AFFECT MY MIRRORS, AS THEY WILL ALSO NOT DEFROST. IN OHIO WE HAD OUR FIRST REAL SNOW FALL THE WEEK BEFORE AND THAT IS WHEN IT BECAME EVIDENT THAT I HAD NO REAR WINDOW OR SIDE MIRROR DEFROST. I CALLED METRO TOYOTA EXPLAINED PROBLEM AND THAT I BELIEVE IT WAS RELATED TO RECALLS THEY DID IN DECEMBER, BECAUSE PRIOR I HAD NO PROBLEMS. THEY ADVISED I BRING IT IN 1/21. I DID THAT AND THAT IS WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT RELATED TO RECALLS AND THAT I NEED TO HAVE GLASS REPLACED. CONSIDERING THE PROBLEM OCCURRED IN AND AREA THAT I HAVE NO IMMEDIATE ACCESS TO I BELIEVE THIS HAS TO BE A DEFECT THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. A REAR DEFROST SYSTEM NOT WORKING IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I BELIEVE TIED TO THE AC ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY THEIR HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS, BUT IF THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR ME I AM SURE THAT IT WILL BE A GROWING CONCERN FOR OTHERS OR IT MAY ALREADY BE AND NOT REPORTED BECAUSE THEY TILL YOU IT'S RARE; BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT'S NOT COVERED, YOU HAVE TO FIX IT! I PLAN TO PURSUE THIS FURTHER
ON 4/15/16 DEALER DIAGNOSED MY 2012 CAMRY WITH 28K MILES WITH THE MOON ASSEMBLY STRUCTURE RATTLE. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR $1300. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SUBJECT OF TSB 0151-13. I ONLY HEARD THE POP WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND IT WAS WORSE ON SUNNY/HOT DAYS. I WOULD HEAR THE POP WHEN DRIVING AND TURNING AT LOWER SPEEDS.

MY 2012 CAMRY HYBIRD WITH LEATHER SEATS. MY PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE WEIGHT OF THE PREVIOUS OCCUPANT, IE, IF OVER 200 LBS AND IT WILL PROBABLY WORK CORRECTLY. BUT IF THE EXITED OCCUPANT WAS LESS THAN 200 LBS, THE AIR BAG WILL ALARM AND MESSAGE FOR THE (FORMER OCCUPANT) PASSENGER TO USE THE SEAT BELT. I'M TRYING TO GET TOYOTA TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY WARN ME THAT I MAY HAVE TO PAY TO CORRECT SOMETHING THAT NEVER OCCURED BEFORE THEIR RECALL.
THE MOON ROOF ON MY XSL CONSTANTLY RATTLES WHILE DRIVING WHENEVER THE AUTO GOES OVER A BUMP; ESPECIALLY AN UNEVEN BUMP THAT TORQUE OR TWISTS THE CHASSIS
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving 25-35 MPH, the vehicle shuddered and loss motive power. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The VIN was not available.
SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY COMING HOME, WE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION FROM ABOVE. WE THOUGHT SOMETHING HAD DROPPED FROM THE SKY AND FELL ON OUR CAR. THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED AND GLASS WAS FALLING ONTO US AS I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO DRIVE ABOUT 5 MILES(GOING ABOUT 40 MPH) UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. UPON OBSERVATION THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE SUNROOF WITH GLASS CONTINUING TO FALL AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME.
THE CAR SEAT IS PERFECT BUT THE CAR SEAT BASE IS HORRIBLE IT MOVES AROUND EVERY TIME I TURN AND I KNOW IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WITH THE BABY. NOW THE MODEL I HAVE IT'S NOT EVEN LISTED ON THE HIGHWAY SAFETY ..SO I FONT KNOW IF IS ON RECALL OR NOT.
DRIVING DOWN BERRYHILL ROAD IN COLUMBIA, SC 29210, I HIT A POT HOLE DAMAGING MY RIM. THERE WAS AN ON COMING VEHICLE SO THERE WAS NO WAY POSSIBLE TO AVOID THE POT HOLE.
TAKATA RECALL. SUNROOF/MOONROOF MAKES A POPPING, THUMPING NOISE WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN PAVEMENT AND WHEN TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AS IF SOMETHING IS LOSE. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 23K MILES AND NO LONGER COVERED UNDER MFG WARRANTY. AFTER RESEARCHING, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR FOR THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
DRIVERS' SIDE SEAT BELT FAILS TO RETRACT COMPLETELY UNLESS "COAXED." THIS LEADS TO IT BEING INADVERTENTLY BLOCKING THE DOOR FROM CLOSING. THIS BEGAN AT OR ABOUT 45,000 MILES. THIS IS ABNORMAL FOR A SEATBELT, IN MY EXPERIENCE, AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. MY 1991 GMC S-15 STILL HAS NO PROBLEM RETRACTING BELTS, WITH 243,000 MILES ON IT. GIVEN THIS CONDITION, THE SRS SYSTEM OF THE SEATBELT LOCKING IS QUESTIONABLE!!! DEALER SERVICE WRITER CLAIMED REPAIR/REPLACING DEFECTIVE RETRACTOR IS AT MY EXPENSE.
THERE IS NOISE COMING FROM THE SUNROOF ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK OF THE CAR WHEN HIT ANY BUMPS OR UNEVEN ROAD SOUNDS LIKE POPPING OR KNOCKING NOISE CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
MY CAR IS A 2012 CAMRY, MY PROBLEM IS THE KEYLESS CONTROL WON'T UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR, IT IS ASHAMED OF TOYOTA NOT REPAIRING MY CAR THAT ONLY HAS 33K MILES AND THEY TOLD ME IS OFF THE REGULAR WARRANTY AND IT'S NOT COVER CAUSE I DIDN'T BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, IT'S THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR STATED A PERSON FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, PART COST ABOUT $300.00 AND ABOUT $700.00 IF THEY REPAIR IT, I JUST CALL IT THE EASY WAY TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY OFF THE CONSUMER OR ETHER YOU PAY THOUSANDS IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OR THOUSANDS REPLACING CHEAP PARTS AND THAT'S WITH OUT COUNTING THE $150.00 FOR WHAT THEY CALL THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST SO I STARTED RESEARCHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND I ENCOUNTERED THAT IS NOT ONLY THE CAMRY BUT MANY OTHER MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR MAL FUNCTION, PLEASE I CALL FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER, MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 33K MILES. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.AFTER I SIGNED PAPERS AND WANTED TO TAKE THE CAR HOME I HAVE NOTICED A STICKER CLOSED TO THE DRIVERS DOOR, IT SAYS TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION, AUTHORIZED MODIFICATION, THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS HAS BEEN MADE (AND THEN WITH A RED MARKER IT IS WRITTEN DOT RECALL) AND UNDERNEATH OF IT CONTINUE, THESE MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN APPROVED AS APPROPRIATE BY EPA AND CARB. DEALER CODE 09231. DATE 3/19/14. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS, WAS CAR ON RECALL BY DOT AND WAS/WERE THE ISSUE/ISSUES RESOLVED OR NOT. CAN YOU HELP. CONTACT ME AT [XXX]. AT 39,000 MILES, MY DRIVER DOOR STOPPED LOCKING/UNLOCKING WITH THE REMOTE. A MONTH LATER THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED AND A MONTH LATER THE RIGHT BACK SEAT LOCK FAILED, AND THEN THE LEFT BACK SEAT LOCK FAILED. ALL SECURITY HAS TO BE DONE MANUALLY, USING THE EMERGENCY KEY LOCATED IN THE REMOTE. BATTERIES IN REMOTE CHANGED. DEALER (JOE MYERS) DECLINED REPAIR SINCE OUT OF MILEAGE WARRANTY (BUT NOT YET 3 YEARS OWNED). SEEMS ODD THAT 4 ACTUATORS ALL FAILED SINCE THEY ARE DIFFERENT PARTS. REPAIR ESTIMATE $2,200.
WHEN LEFT FOOT IS MOMENTARILY LEFT ON BRAKE WHILE DEPRESSING ACCELERATOR WITH RIGHT FOOT ACCELERATION BEGINS THEN STOPS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS CAUSING A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. TOYOTA ADMITTED THEY HAVE A PROGRAM BUILT INTO THE CAMRY TO OFFSET "SUDDEN ACCELERATION" ISSUE. SO, THEY ADMITTED THEY ELIMINATED A MAJOR ISSUE WHILE CREATING ANOTHER ISSUE. TOYOTA'S LOGIC IS RIDICULOUS. THEY ARE IDIOTS!!!
ONCE MY CAR APPROACH 40 TO 45 MPH REGARDLESS IF IM ON THE CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY IT HAS A VIBRATION. NOT SURE WHEN IT STARTED BUT I KNOW IT WAS LIKE IN BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2015 TO CURRENT.
I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW WITH MY 2012 CAMRY NOT ACCELERATING WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I TURN A CORNER & MOST RECENTLY HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD DOWN A CITY STREET. I COULD BE GOING ABOUT 25-35 MPH, PRESS THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN BUT THEN WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL TO PICK UP SPEED AGAIN, THE CAR WILL STALL MEANING IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL & JUST COASTS. I'VE HAD OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE MY CAR & THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD CARS ALMOST RUN INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS & I HAVE CHILDREN WITH ONE OF THEM BEING ONLY 2 YEARS OLD & THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR WITH ME AT TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE NOTIFIED TOYOTA OF THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES BUT THEY JUST KEEP TELLING ME THAT IT'S NORMAL & THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE IS EXPERIENCING SOME TYPE OF DELAY OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT & THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED MY CAMRY BRAND NEW IN 2012 & I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THE SERVICE CURRENT ON MY CAR. OF COURSE TOYOTA HAS PROOF OF THAT IN THEIR SYSTEM. I NEED FOR THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE & CORRECT IT BEFORE MYSELF, MY CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE GETS SEVERELY HURT OR LOSE OUR LIVES OR CAUSE SOMEONE ELSE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE. VERY WET UNDER PASSENGER SEAT. INTERIOR FOGGING UP DURING TEMP CHANGES. WHERE THE AIR VENT COMES OUT TO THE BACK SEATS. ALSO WET CARPET ON DRIVERS SIDE UNDER DASH. ODOR AS WELL FROM AC, MOLDY SMELL. CAR STATIONARY. COULD THIS SHORT OUT THE HEATER OR ELECTRICAL ELEMENTS FOR ELECTRIC SEAT AS WELL AS MILDEW MOISTURE PROBLEMS.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED EVEN AT SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. MY VEHICLE T-BONED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT ILLEGALLY AND NEGLECTFULLY CROSSED MY WAY. MY VEHICLE'S FRONT WAS WAS DAMAGED, FROM MIDDLE PART ALL THE WAY TO THE DRIVER SIDE PART. BUMPER, HOOD, DRIVER SIDE FENDER, FRONT FRAME METAL, AND OTHER PARTS WERE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FIRST, THE TRANSMISSION IS REALLY JERK WHEN ACCELERATE AT STOP LIGHT. IT ALSO JERK REALLY HARD WHEN DOWN SHIFT. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS DELAY. SECOND, THE ELECTRIC STEERING WHEEL. THE RADIO JUST SHUT OFF BY ITSELF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME, AND THEN THE LIGHT CAME OFF AND THE RADIO RESTARTED BY ITSELF AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE THE ELECTRIC HAS SOME PROBLEM.
EXPERIENCE A HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING OUT OF STOP AND GO I'M HAVING ACCELERATING ISSUES WHERE THE CAR STALLS WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND TURNING, THE STEERING SUDDENLY "FROZE" (POWER ASSIST FAILED) AND A STEERING WHEEL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS DRIVEN HOME AND THEN TOWED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATION. AFTER INVESTIGATING, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PIG VOLTAGE WAS LOW (11 VOLTS) AND FLUCTUATED WHILE TURNING. UPON REMOVAL OF LOWER DASH AND STEERING COLUMN, FOUND NO BOLT IN GROUND WIRE FROM EMPS ECU. INSTALLED A BOLT AND RESECURED GROUND WIRE TO INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY BAR, AND THEN VOLTAGE WAS NORMAL AND STEERING WAS NORMAL DURING ROAD TEST. COULD NOT LOCATE ORIGINAL GROUND BOLT.

WHEN RE-APPLYING THE GAS WHILE STILL MOVING (20-40 MPH) OUR 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY SE (4-CYL, AUTOMATIC) SOMETIMES HESITATES. IT FEELS LIKE A SHUTTER IN THE GAS PEDAL, BUT I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF IT IS IN THE TRANSMISSION OR IN THE ACCELERATOR/FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM. IT LASTS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THINGS SMOOTH OUT AND THE CAR OPERATES NORMALLY. IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT IN RECENT WEEKS (NOW 3 MONTHS SINCE THE ISSUE WAS FIRST NOTICED).
