Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)Brakes were malfunctioning and did not work. I was traveling South of Hwy 99 in the middle lane and noticed the vehicles in front of me were slowing down and braking. I attempted to applied the brakes but it was not working. I swerved to the left to avoid a collision with the vehicles in front of me. As I swerved to the left onto the fast lane, I hit the vehicle in that lane. Myself, along with the 3 passengers were transported to the hospital. The vehicle is towed and has not been inspected by the insurance company. Police was called to the scene. There are no recalls that I know of on brakes for my vehicle.
The vehicle, Toyota Corolla Cross seems to have an issue with stopping from a reasonable distance. Unlike other Toyota models, I find it difficult to stop the car in the stop signs and traffic lights with reasonable brake pressures.
