I PURCHASED NEW RAYBESTOS BRAKES DRUMS. THE DRUMS WERE OUT-OF-ROUND AND CAUSED SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. THIS REDUCED BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS. DRUMS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER, PROBLEM REMAINED. MECHANIC MACHINED DRUMS AND VIBRATION STOPPED. FULL BRAKING POWER IS NOW AVAILABLE UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. REPORTED THESE DEFECTIVE BRAKE COMPONENTS TO THE MANUFACTURER (RAYBESTOS) AND THE RETAIL STORE (PEP BOYS).*AK
FUEL TANK HAS HAIR LINE CRACKS WHICH CAUSES FUEL LEAKAGES. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.
SOMETIMES INTERIOR LIGHT/SEAT BELT LIGHT, AND OTHER LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WILL COME ON WITHOUT ANY WARNING. ALSO, BATTERY HAD BEEN REPLACED BEFORE.*AK
SECOND INCIDENT OF GAS TANK LEAKING. FIRST LEAK WAS WELDED BY PERSONAL MECHANIC. HE INDICATED A SEPARATE COMPONENT WAS RUBBING ON THE GAS TANK, CAUSING A HOLE TO FORM. SINCE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS LOCATED IN SUCH CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE FUEL TANK, A SEVERE FIRE HAZARD EXISTS, WHICH COULD BECOME LIFE THREATENING.*AK
HAD A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT ABOUT 3 TIMES. EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS IN THE CRASH. DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CONSUMER'S HUSBAND (CARLOS AGUIRRE) WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
BLOWOUT. COMPLETE SEPARATION OF SIDEWALL AT THE INTERSECTION OF SIDEWALL AND TREAD. RESULT WAS A TWO PIECE TIRE (SIDEWALL DOUGHNUT AND TREAD WITH OTHER SIDEWALL).*AK (TIRESIZE: 185/65SR14)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 185/65SR14 )
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE LEFT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL CAME OFF INTO DRIVER'S HANDS, VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND ENDED UP IN A DITCH. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. *AK
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN , GOING APPROXIMATELY 2 ANOTHER VEHICLE HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE AT APROXIMATELY 35 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER/ MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. SEEKING HELP AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER FROM NHTSA . *AK
GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. IN THE DARK YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT GEAR YOU HAVE THE VEHICLE IN. NO WAY TO ACCESS THE LIGHT TO REPLACE IT.
MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. BRAKES APPLIED THEMSELVES AND STUCK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FRONT TIRES BECAME SO HOT THE LUGNUTS SHEARED OFF AND THE HUB CAPS MELTED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPONENT AT MY EXPENSE. I AM STARTING TO EXPERIENCE BRAKE PEDAL FADING. WHILE STOPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR WITH THE NEW MASTER CYLINDER ON THE VEHICLE. I HOPE THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT KILL ME OR OTHERS BEFORE TOYOTA DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
THE DRIVER/PASSENGER AIR BAGS FAILED RESULTING IN VEHICLE DAMAGE AND INJURY TO ONE OCCUPANT. NLM
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, APPLIED BRAKES, FRONT LEFT BUMPER HIT ANOTHER CAR RIGHT REAR, AIRBAG DEPLOYED, SMOKE IN VEHICLE, DRIVER ESCAPED VEHICLE THROUGH WINDOW, SUFFERING BURNS ON FOREARM AND HAND. ALSO, DRIVER'S CLOTHING WAS SCORCHED OR BURNED. DEALER CONTACTED AND DUE TO INSPECT VEHICLE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROOVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

THE CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS IN WHICH PASSENGER'S AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO BE CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE GEAR BOX BROKE, CAUSING THE TIRES TO SPIN. CONSUMER STATED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING, AND THE ENGINE BE MAKING A LOUD NOISE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON A NORMAL ROAD CONDITION AIR BAGS DEPLOYED FOR UNKNOWN REASON. DEALER/ MANUFACTURERNOTIFIED. *AK
REAR ENDED AT STOP SIGN, DRIVERS AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY
VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING AND THEN STALLED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART ENGINE. AIR CONDITIONING COMPREESSOR FAILED.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED. ALSO REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER.
NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING COLLISION RESULTING IN INJURY.
OXYGEN SENSOR FAILURE.
FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED DURING A SIDE IMPACT. DRIVER BELIEVES SHE WOULD NOT HAVE SUFFERED ANY INJURIES IN THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
WHILE DRIVING UP HILL OR DOWN HILL VEHICLE WOULD MAKE LOUD SCRAPPING AND RUBBING NOISES, SUCH AS METAL RUBBING TOGETHER. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK THE FIRST DEALER THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS SHOCKS AND REPLACEED THEM STILL THE PROBLEM REMAINE, THE SECOND DEALER FIGURED OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FRONT END HAD ASSEMBLED AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. *YH

VEHICLE'S LEFT CV AXLE HAS A LOOSE JOINT, AND THE RIGHT INNER JOINT ROTATES IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS ONCE TAKING FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. *AK
DRIVING APPROXIAMTELY 25MPH AND LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, HIT A TELEPHONE POLE, AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND DRIVER WAS BURNED ON FACE AND ARMS. THINKS AIR BAG WAS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE OF BURNS RECEIVED. *AK

DRIVER'S SEAT BELT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING SHOULDER BELT TO GET STUCK, AND WONT PROTECT OCCUPANT IN EVENT OF A CRASH. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAT BELT THREE TIMES. *YH

VEHICLE WENT INTO OPEN THROTTLE POSITION DUE TO A FAULTY CABLE WHICH WRAPPED AROUND THE THROTTLE. *AK
ALTERNATOR FAILED.
WHILE DRIVING, ANOTHER VEHICLE CAME ACROSS AND CUT IN FRONT OF TOYOTA, TOYOTA FRONT DAMAGED, DRIVER'S/PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
BRAKE SPRING BROKE.
BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN A LOW SPEED COLLISION THAT WAS BENEATH THE TOYOTA THRESHHOLD, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY TO MRS. RUHLMAN, FROM WHICH SHE DIED THE FOLLOWING MARCH. THE POSSIBILITY OF LOW-SPEED DEPLOYMENT OR DEPLOYMENT WITH RELATIVELY MINOR COLLISION DAMAGE WAS NOT REFERRED TO IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. MRS. RUHLMAN WAS SITTING UPRIGHT PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND WAS WEARING A SEATBELT.
