I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK MY TIRES DUE TO MY PRESSURE LIGHT BEING ON AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING FUNNY. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A BUSTED BELT IN THE SIDEWALL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIRE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IN TWO MONTHS. ALSO, IT WAS STATED AT THIS TIME THAT MY CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO WEAR ON THE TREAD AND I WILL NEED TO BUY NEW TIRES BEFORE RE-REGISTERING MY VEHICLE. CAR IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD WITH UNDER 20,000 MILES. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2011 TOYOTA SIENA XLE WITH BRIDGESTONE P35/55RF18 TIRES. THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND HAVE BEEN ROTATED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE. AFTER 25,000 MILES, THEY ARE BALD. I NOTICED SLIPPING AND TIRE FAILURE, THEN INSPECTED THEM. THE FRONT TIRES LOOK LIKE RACING SLICKS WITH NO REMAINING TREAD.
VAN WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET. I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT OF A PARKING SPACE.I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND LUNGED FORWARD. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE MAT WAS SECURED DOWN. I TOOK MY VAN IN TO HAVE THE TOYOTA DEALER CHECK. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS HAPPENED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES.
I WAS PARKING THE CAR AND NEEDED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE BACKWARD IN A PARKING LOT WITH A SLIGHT SLOPE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO REVERSE THE LEVER LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO NO AVAIL AND THE ENGINE DIED. THE STEERING WAS LOCKED. THE IGNITION SWITCH ALSO LOCKED. THE VEHICLE STOPPED . I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO APPLY THE BRAKES VIGOROUSLY, AT THE SAME TIME PUMP THE ACCELERATOR AND TURN THE IGNITION. I DID AND THE FUNCTIONS ALL STARTED WORKING. NO DAMAGE, NO INJURIES. THIS OCCURRED IN FREDERICKS BURG, TX THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME INCIDENT IN COMPLAINT # 10585286, DATED 3-17-2014. *TR
2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE TIRES. ON MARCH 2, 2012, A 10,000 MILE SERVICE WAS PERFORMED. HOWEVER, SIX DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER AND HER HUSBAND EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT ON THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. A NEW TIRE WAS PURCHASED ON MARCH 9, 2012. ON APRIL 28, 2012, THE CONSUMER AND HER HUSBAND EXPERIENCED ANOTHER BLOWOUT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE REPLACED ALL OF THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND. *JB
ON MARCH 3,2012 WHILE RETURNING FROM ASHEVILLE,NC TO OUR HOME IN GRAYSLAKE,IL WITH A FULL DAY OF NOTHING BUT INTERSTATE DRIVING OUR TIRE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON . WE PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT BY CALUMET CITY,IL. ASSUMING I JUST NEEDED TO ADD SOME AIR TO THE TIRE I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE WHOLE SIDEWALL SPLIT OPEN. WE HAD NOT HIT ANY SHARP OBJECTS OR POTHOLES,BUT THE RUN FLAT TIRE WAS RUINED. AS THE 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA AWD DOES NOT HAVE A SPARE AAA COULD NOT HELP TO REPLACE THE TIRE. THEY COULD TOW US TO THE NEAREST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BUT WHEN WE NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED US SINCE IT WAS LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TIRE UNTIL MONDAY. WE THEN MADE THE DECISION TO HAVE THE VAN TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP NEAREST OUR HOME(LIBERTYVILLE,IL) AT OUR EXPENSE.TOYOTA GLADLY REPLACED THE TIRE (WITH ONLY 9400 MILES OF WEAR) FOR $283.00 AND TOLD ME IF ANY COMPLAINTS TO TAKE THE TIRE TO A BRIDGESTONE DEALER. I INFORMED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT IF THE AWD SIENNA HAD A SPARE AND IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN BEFORE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IT DID NOT HAVE A SPARE I WOULD NOT BE IN THIS PREDICAMENT. I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE BRIDGESTONE DEALER . HE SAID IT LOOKED LIKE THE TIRE WAS DAMAGED(IT WAS NOT,IT JUST SPLIT APART) AND SAID HE WOULD SEND IT TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE TO BE EVALUATED. THIS WAS A MONTH AND A HALF AGO WITH NO RESPONSE. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V560000 (EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMEDY STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOTIFY OWNERS OF THE RECALL AND PROVIDE A REMEDY WHEN ONE HAD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE REMEDY WAS FOR OWNERS TO RECEIVE A CORRECTED PLACARD ALONG WITH A REVISED OWNER'S MANUAL THAT STATED THAT THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, AT NO COST TO THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT WAS DISPLEASED WITH THE RECALL REMEDY AND STATED THAT INSTEAD OF MAILING A 'CORRECTED' MANUAL TO OWNERS, THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE SO THAT IT WOULD MATCH THE WEIGHT STATED ON THE PLACE CARD AND IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THIRD ROW MIDDLE BEAT THAT RETRACTED FROM THE CEILING WAS TANGLED AROUND A CHILD'S WAIST WHILE SLEEPING. THE FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED THE SEAT BELT TO STRAGGLE THE CHILD. THE CHILD BEGUN TO TURN BLUE SO THE CONTACT HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE THE CHILD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE SEAT BELT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
THIS IS THE FIFTH TIME I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW. AT 7000 MILES, WHEN I HIT THE PEDAL, STEERING WHEEL AND CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, CUT ROTORS, OK. AT ABOUT 15000 MILES SAME PROBLEM. THEY CUT THE ROTORS. AGAIN, ABOUT 22000, SAME PROBLEM AND NOW I HAD TO PAID BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRED,3 YEARS. I WROTE TO THE TOYOTA, EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM AND THY DECIDED TO REFUNDED ME THE MONEY I PAID,$500. NOW, ABOUT 32000 MILES I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I BOUGHT THE BEST ROTORS ON THE INTERNET WITH HOLES, BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS THE HEAT. I PAID A MECHANIC TO INSTALLED THEM. WORK FINE FOR A WHILE, BUT AT ABOUT 40000 MILES THE CAR STAR SHAKING WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. I BOUGHT NEW ROTORS AT AN AUTO PART AND REPLACED THE ROTORS AGAIN. NOW MY CAR HAVE 48800 MILES AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY STILL SAYS IS THE HEAT THAT WORN THE ROTORS. I HAD SO MANY CARS IN MY LIFE AND I NEVER HAD TO REPLACED THE ROTORS THAT OFTEN. I BELIEVED THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT IN THIS CAR THAT CAUSE THIS PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE. TOYOTA DON'T WANT TO INVESTIGATE. I BEG YOU TO INVESTIGATE AND MAKE TOYOTA TO LOOK DEEPER IN THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T BUY THE HEAT CAUSE. THIS IS NOT NORMAL ON A NEW CAR. IT COST ME ALMOST $55,000. I DON'T THINK IS FAIR. I THINK I'M GOING TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST TOYOTA AND SUE THEM. BUT FIRST, I'M LOOKING FOR YOUR HELP. I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS FOR THE 5 TIMES I FIX THE CAR. ON JULY 1ST 2013 I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A SAFETY RECALL, DUE TO RISK OF TIRE FAILURE AND A CRASH, WHEN TOWING WITH MY TOYOTA SIENNA. THE RECALL INDICATED THAT IF THE VEHICLE HAS A TOW HITCH, THE FACTORY INSTALLED TIRES WOULD BE REPLACED WITH NEW EXTRA LOAD TIRES. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY FACTORY INSTALLED RUN FLAT TIRES WITH NEW EXTRA LOAD TIRES AFTER ONE OF THE FACTORY INSTALLED RUN FLATS FAILED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ON JULY 1ST TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY EXPENSE. ON 9/18/13 TOYOTA INFORMED ME THAT THE DEALER WOULD INSPECT MY CAR TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT QUALIFIES. ON 9/20 DCH TOYOTA INSPECTED THE CAR AND INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE BECAUSE MY TRAILER HITCH IS NOT A TOYOTA BRAND TRAILER HITCH. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR, TOYOTA DID NOT HAVE TOYOTA HITCHES AVAILABLE AND RECOMMENDED WE GET ONE FROM HITCH, WHICH WE DID. NOW WE ARE TOLD THAT TOYOTA ISN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE HITCH ISN'T A TOYOTA BRAND. I SPOKE WITH A SUPERVISOR AT THE TOYOTA COMPANY TODAY, WHO VERIFIED THIS. THIS SEEMS IRRESPONSIBLE AND WRONG. THE CAR, WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED RUN FLAT TIRES, WAS IMPROPERLY RATED FOR TOWING, MAKING MY VEHICLE UNSAFE TO USE FOR TOWING, REGARDLESS OF THE BRAND OF TRAILER HITCH BEING USED. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE TIRES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS IMPROPERLY RATED FOR TOWING UNLESS THE TIRES ARE REPLACED. TOYOTA INSISTS THAT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION APPROVED THEIR PLAN TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND RENDER THE CAR SAFE FOR TOWING ONLY IF THE CONSUMER IS USING A TOYOTA HITCH. THERE MUST BE SOME MISUNDERSTANDING, AND I AM ASKING THAT YOU REVIEW AND REVISE THE AGREEMENT SO THAT ALL OWNERS OF TOYOTA SIENNAS THAT WERE IMPROPERLY RATED FOR TOWING WILL BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, EVEN IF THEIR TRAILER HITCH IS NOT A TOYOTA-BRAND HITCH. *JS
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON A CITY STREET, I LOST BRAKE FUNCTION. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A COMPLETE STOP, THANKFULLY AVOIDING OTHER TRAFFIC AND OBSTACLES. ONCE I WAS STOPPED, I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A LONG BOLT ON THE FLOORBOARD UNDERNEATH THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN THE TOWTRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED, HE REACHED IN AND PULLED THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY OFF - THERE WAS NOTHING FASTENING IT TO THE CAR. HE WAS ABLE TO REINSTALL THE BOLT, BUT SAID THERE WAS "A PIECE" MISSING, AND TOWED IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER FOUND THAT TWO PEDAL PIVOT BOLTS WERE MISSING, AND THE ONE THAT WAS PRESENT (WHICH HAD ENDED UP ON THE FLOOR), WAS NOT SECURED BY A NUT. THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHY THIS HAPPENED - THAT IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FACTORY - BUT SAID THAT THEY REPLACED THE THREE BOLTS AND TORQUED THEM PROPERLY, AND THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. WE ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER FOR BETTER EXPLANATION, AND THE MANAGER AVOIDED ALL OF OUR ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. *KB
WATER ACCUMULATING IN FOLD-DOWN COMPARTMENT FOR THIRD ROW SEATS. STANDING WATER NOTICED UNDER CARPET. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO REPLICATE LEAK. *TR
AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND DRIVING FORWARD LESS THAN 100 YDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL LEFT AND RIGHT AS IF VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL WERE TAKING OVER. VERY SHORTLY AFTER, THE VEHICLE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP WITH BRAKES SEEMINGLY APPLIED ON THEIR OWN (POWER BRAKE ASSIST?). THE SCREEN LIT UP WITH THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS, "CHECK ABS," "CHECK VSC," AND "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM," FOLLOWED BY "HAVE YOUR VEHICLE CHECKED BY DEALER." THE ABS, VSC, EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AS WELL. UPON TAKING A LOOK UNDER THE HOOD, WE ALSO DISCOVERED WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN OIL LEAK AT THE HEAD GASKET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TOYOTA ENGINEER WAS FLOWN IN TO HELP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE RESULT WAS THEY CLEARED THE CODES, WIPED UP THE OIL, AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. ABOUT A DAY AND A HALF LATER, THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE VEHICLE PULLING, WARNING LIGHTS, ETC. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY FOUND "HARD" CODES AND THAT THE FLOOR WIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOW BEEN OUT OF SERVICE FOR 16 DAYS. WE SHALL SEE WHETHER THE WIRE HARNESS FIXES THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID THEY PUT DYE IN THE ENGINE OIL TO TRY TO DETECT A LEAK. NOT SURE WHY THEY DIDN'T INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM WHILE THE OIL WAS SITTING THERE. IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS WHERE THE LEAK WAS. *TR
ROOF RACK DETACHMENT ON HIGHWAY: WE HAVE THE TOYOTA SIENNA OEM ROOF RACK CROSS BARS INSTALLED WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT NEVER HAD ACTUALLY ATTACHED ANYTHING TO THE CROSS BARS. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WE HEARD A BANG, LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW MY CROSS BAR IN THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY, PULLED OVER AND CONFIRMED THAT THE CROSS BAR HAD IN FACT DETACHED FROM OUR CAR AND FELL IN THE ROAD BEHIND US. THE REMAINING CROSS BAR WAS STILL ON, BUT WAS COCKED AND THE TIGHTENING MECHANISM WAS LOOSE. OUR CONCERN: THE SPECIAL INSTALLATION PRACTICE HAS BEEN EXPLAINED TO ME BY THE PARTS MANAGER. APPARENTLY, THIS NEW CLAMP DESIGN REQUIRES THE USER ASSURE PERPENDICULAR ALIGNMENT OF THE LOWER CLAMP PLATE TO THE ROOF RACK, OTHERWISE WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE SCREW YOU CAN GET A FALSE TIGHT SENSE, WHEN THE PLATE IS COCKED AND NOT TRUE. SO, I SEE MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THIS DESIGN: (1) TOO MUCH RELIANCE ON FOLLOWING PROPER INSTALLATION TO ASSURE PRODUCT IS SAFELY SECURED. (2) HOW TIGHT IS TIGHT ON THE SCREW? NO INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED? (3) EXCESSIVE RELIANCE ON THE OWNER TO CHECK THIS PART FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR - SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THIS MUST BE INTERMITTENTLY TIGHTENED BY THE OWNER? WHERE IS THIS IN THE SERVICE MANUAL? (4) IT ALSO APPEARS THAT TOYOTA MAY HAVE INTRODUCED THIS "EASY TO REMOVE" DESIGN TO APPEAL TO THOSE CUSTOMERS WHICH COMPLAINED ON HOW LONG IT TAKES TO REMOVE THE EARLIER MODEL ROOF RACKS (<2011), BUT IN TURN HAVE COMPROMISED ON QUALITY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY SAFETY. (5) NOT ONLY IS THIS A UNIQUE DESIGN FOR THE TOYOTA LINEUP OF CARS, IT IS ALSO A UNIQUE IN THE INDUSTRY DESIGN, WHICH HAS FOR MANY YEARS NOW ESTABLISHED A HISTORY OF HAVING POSITIVE LOCKING AND REDUNDANT INSTALLATIONS FOR ROOF RACK CROSS BARS. I WROTE LETTER, AND TOYOTA SAID OUR INSURANCE COVERS SUCH THINGS, AND FOR US TO WORK WITH OUR DEALER, RATHER THAN MAIN COMPANY. UPDATED IVOQ 03/20/12 *TR

THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. SUMMARY: TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 THROUGH 2012 SIENNA VEHICLES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NUMBER 110, TIRE SELECTIONS AND RIMS. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT FOR DISPLAYING THE CORRECT VEHICLE CAPACITY WEIGHT AS THE RATED LOAD FOR THE COMBINATION OF CARGO AND OCCUPANTS. SAFETY RISK: INCORRECT INFORMATION ON THE VEHICLE PLACARD MAY LEAD TO TIRE OVERLOADING AND POSSIBLY CAUSE TIRE FAILURE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. REMEDY: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND WILL PROVIDE A REMEDY WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE. TOYOTA WILL MAIL OUT A CORRECTED PLACARD TO CUSTOMERS ALONG WITH REVISED OWNER MANUAL INFORMATION. I HAVE LOVED MY 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA FOR 5-6 MOS. NOW. UPON BACKING UP IN MY FLAT DRIVEWAY AREA ON 10/24/11, AT A SLOW RATE TYPICAL TO BACKING UP IN A DRIVEWAY, I FOUND MY VAN PROPELLING VERY FAST STRAIGHT BACK/IN REVERSE. THIS TOOK THE VEHICLE DOWN OVER A SLIGHT HILL OF OUR YARD INTO A LARGE PINE TREE. THE THICK SPRUCE TREE HAS A HUGE HOLE/OPENING/DAMAGED AREA AND MY ENTIRE BACK OF THE VAN IS VERY DAMAGED, ENTIRE REAR WINDOW BUSTED INTO HUNDREDS OF SMALLER PIECES, ITEMS IN THE CAR PROJECTED ONTO THE GROUND BEHIND US. THE LIFTGATE, REAR WINDOW AND BUMPER ARE VERY CAVED IN AND DAMAGED. I CAN ONLY DESCRIBE THIS AS SECONDS OF TOTAL CONFUSION, SPEED, LACK OF CONTROL, SHOCK. DURING THE TEST DRIVE AND INSPECTION OF 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WOULD CLOSE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BUTTON OR HANDLE. THE DEALER (REP) TOLD ME THAT HE HAD PRESSED THE CLOSE BUTTON TOO MANY TIMES AND THAT'S WHY IT SHUT DURING THE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE HOME THE DRIVER'S REAR SLIDING DOOR SHUT ON ME WHILE I WAS GETTING A SMALL CHILD OUT OF A CAR SEAT-I DID NOT TOUCH THE BUTTON OR DOOR HANDLE. AFTER THE SAME THING HAPPENED 4-5 MORE TIME I TOOK THE 2011 SIENNA VAN BACK TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I TOLD THEM THAT IF THE GLASS SHATTERS, IT WILL NOT BE INTACT AND YET THEY WOULD NOT BUY MY ARGUMENT. I CALLED THE POLICE WHO FOUND OUT THAT THE SUNROOF GLASS BULGED UP AND SHATTERED. THE POLICE COULDN'T FIND ANY SIGNS OF ROCKS HITTING THE SUNROOF AND BASED ON THE GLASS BREAKAGE PATTERN SUSPECTED THAT THE CAR'S INTERIOR CABIN PRESSURE MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THE SUNROOF GLASS TO EXPLODE AND BREAK. HOWEVER, THE TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME WAS ONLY AROUND 65'F, SO IT COULDN'T BE DUE TO HEAT. ON 09/10/11 I COMBED THROUGH THE VAN, THINKING THAT ONE OF OUR CHILDREN HAD SPILLED OR DROPPED SOMETHING THAT WAS CAUSING THE SMELL. THE FOLLOWING DAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER'S SERVICE ADVISOR, WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WORSE HAD BEEN IMMEDIATELY APPARENT: WATER WAS ACTUALLY POOLING UNDER THE CARPETS. HE ALSO SAID THEIR MECHANICS HAD SPEND ALL DAY ON THE PROBLEM AND HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE HOW THE WATER HAD SEEPED INTO THE CAR, AND THAT THE NEXT STEP WAS FOR A TOYOTA REGIONAL SPECIALIST TO LOOK AT THE VAN, THAT WEEK. FOR EVERY MAINTENANCE SERVICE THROUGH TOYOTA CARE, I POINTED MY CONCERNS ON A STEERING "POP" SOUND WHILE MAKING U-TURNS UNDER VERY LOW SPEED, AND A SENSE OF STEERING INSTABILITY ON HIGHWAYS UNDER WINDY CONDITIONS, AS WELL AS WEARING TIRES RAPIDLY. ALL THE TIME THE DEALERS TECHNICIANS ANSWER WAS: "A GREEN REPORT FOR EVERY SAFETY POINT, SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT WAS PROOF OF NO PROBLEMS AT ALL". I AM REPLACING 4 TIRES (TO SERVE 65 000) AT 45 000 MILES TOTALLY WORN OUT WITH UNEVEN PATTERNS SPECIALLY THE ONES AT FRONT WHEELS, EVEN FOLLOWING REGULAR ROTATION PROGRAM. BOTH POWER-SLIDING SIDE VAN DOORS ON MY 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE AWD DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY OR SAFELY IN ALL INSTANCES WHEN USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. APPROXIMATELY 25% OF ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE SIDE DOORS USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES TO ACTIVATE THE POWER SLIDE MECHANISM FAIL. THE FAILURE RESULTS IN THE DOORS ONLY OPENING ABOUT SIX INCHES, THEN STOPPING IN PLACE WHILE AN AUDIBLE ALARM SOUNDS. THE GAP IS LARGE ENOUGH FOR AN ADULT OR CHILD TO PUT ARM THROUGH THE GAP. AFTER THE AUDIBLE ALARM CEASES, THE DOOR CAN BE MANUALLY CLOSED IN A "JERKY" FASHION. THE DOOR FAILURE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN USING THE EXTERIOR HANDLES. WHEN USING THE KEY FOB, INTERIOR CONTROLS LOCATED IN THE CEILING ABOVE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, OR INTERIOR CONTROLS NEAR THE SLIDING DOORS, THE DOORS WORK CORRECTLY. *TR
MOTOR ON SLIDING DOORS HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE WE FIRST PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. WE WERE TOLD THEY "STICK" BECAUSE THE RUBBER SEALS ARE SO NEW. THE DOORS ONLY OPEN PART OF THE TIME. 50% OF THE TIME WHEN YOU OPEN THEM, THEY BEEP LOUDLY AND GET STUCK, JUST LIKE DAY ONE. TOYOTA CONTINUES TO CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND ANYTIME WE'VE MENTIONED IT, THEY SAY THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THEY GET JAMMED AND CAN ONLY BE YANKED OPEN MANUALLY. A CHILD COULD NOT OPEN IT IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY WHERE THEY NEED TO MAKE A QUICK ESCAPE. THE SEAL ON THE WINDOW IS ALSO BROKEN AND PULLS DOWN WHEN YOU OPEN THE WINDOW . THE SEAL PULLS DOWN WITH IT. THIS HAPPENED TO OUR BRAND-NEW TOYOTA CAMRY, AS WELL AS MY MOTHER'S BRAND NEW TOYOTA FJ CRUISER. TOYOTA HAS CHECKED IT OUT AND THEY CLAIMED IT'S WEAR AND TEAR. THEY REPLACED IT FOR FREE THE FIRST TIME, BUT LESS THAN A YEAR LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN! NOW I SEE A RECALL ON DOORS, THIS NEEDS TO B ADDRESSED, THAT RECALL IS NOT BEING HANDLED YET EITHER . AGAIN, IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD FOR CHILDREN GETTING OUT, OR DOORS FLYING OPEN WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE IN MAY OF 2011 FROM JAY WOLFE TOYOTA IN KANSAS CITY MO. AFTER 1000 MILES WITHIN LESS THAN A MONTH, STARTED HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE, IT WAS GLIDING, TAKING THE PADDLE TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE EVEN AT SLOW SPEEDS. I WAS ENROUTE TO OMAHA FOR THE WEEKEND WITH MY FAMILY AND KIDS WHEN I STARTED HAVING THE BRAKE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK 4 DAYS TO CHECK AND DETERMINE IT WAS AIR IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I AM SURE THERE WAS MORE TO IT BUT THAT IS ALL THEY SAID AND FIXED. ONE PERSON FROM CORPORATE WAS THERE AND TOLD US AND GUARANTEED THAT WE SHOULD NEVER SEE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. NOW LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER AT 26000 MILES STARTED HAVING SAME ISSUES WITH BRAKE. NOW THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE MAY BE A LEAK IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN LOOK AT BEFORE. I ADVISED THEM DUE TO SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND MY KIDS AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, I AM NOT TAKING THIS VEHICLE BACK AND I REQUESTED TO BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER NEW VEHICLE SINCE THEY ARE AT FAULT BY SELLING ME A VEHICLE WITH A BRAKE PROBLEM AND BY NOT FIXING IT RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE. NOTING THAT TOYOTA HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MANY CARS WITH BRAKE FAILURE IN THE PAST.
