THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT / FRONT TURN SIGNAL IS MELTED AND THE TURN SIGNALS ARE NOT VISIBLE WHEN ENGAGED. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAD A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO REPAIR IT BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME I MISSED THAT POINT. THIS IS A VERY DANGERS DEFECT AND FEEL THEY SHOULD REMEDY THE PROBLEM.
2010 TOYOTA TACOMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE BURNING THE PLASTIC LENS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IT LOOKED AS IF, THE LENSES WERE STARTING TO MELT. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, IN EXPIRED NOVEMBER 30, 2015. THE CONSUMER STATED HE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. *JB
RECALL NUMBER 14V604 - REAR SUSPENSION LEAF SPRINGS. ONE OF THE LEAFS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR SPRING HAS BROKE AND MOVED OUT OF POSITION AND IS HITTING THE REAR BRAKE LINE. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS ATTACHED. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA AND AFTER SOME EXTENSIVE DIALOG HAVE BEEN ASSURED THAT WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND IT IS CONFIRMED THAT THE SPRING IS INDEED BROKE, THAT THE DEALER WILL TEMPORARILY REMEDY THE DEFECT AT NO COST TO ME. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN TOYOTA HAS A REMEDY FOR THE ABOVE MENTIONED RECALL, I WILL BE NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED TO SATISFY THE RECALL. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1703143139. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HEARD A SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE LEAF SPRINGS UNDER THE VEHICLE AND WAS CONCERNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAD BOTH OF MY HEADLAMPS REPLACED BY TOYOTA UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY WERE MELTING AT THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT LENS. THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP IS MELTING AGAIN. I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT THE ONE YEAR WARRANTY GIVEN ON THE NEW HEADLAMPS WAS OVER AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE REPLACED AGAIN. I DO NOT THINK TOYOTA FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT JUST REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE HEADLAMPS WITH MORE DEFECTIVE HEADLAMPS TO BUY TIME UNTIL EVERYONE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL (NHTSA REFERENCE ID 14V604) ON THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN SEPTEMBER 2014 AND TOYOTA HAS STILL NOT DEVELOPED A REMEDY FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. DOES THE NHTSA HAVE ANY RECOURSE TO COMPEL TOYOTA TO DEVELOP A REMEDY? THE RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR AND THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY.
EXPERIENCING A CLUNKING AND BANGING FROM THE REAR OF MY TRUCK THAT MATCHES THE DESCRIPTION LISTED IN THE RECALL LETTER WE RECEIVED PERTAINING TO THE FAILURE OF REAR LEAF SPRINGS ON OUR 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA TRD. ON VISUAL INSPECTION, FOUND THAT SOME OF THE LEAF PLATES HAVE MOVED OUT OF POSITION WHICH CAN DEVELOP INTO A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE LIVE 50 MILES FROM THE CLOSEST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND MAY NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES. WE ONLY HAVE THE ONE VEHICLE AND BECAUSE OF FAMILY/MEDICAL MATTERS, WOULD NEED SOME TYPE OF LOANER VEHICLE IF OUR TRUCK IS TO BE KEPT BY THE SERVICE DEPT. FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY.
WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH THE FRONT JOINT OF THE PROPELLER SHAFT BROKED AWAY AND THE PROPPELLER FALLED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK, HITTING AND DAMAGING OTHER TRUCK'S COMPONENTS UNTIL STOPING

SUDDEN RATTLING NOISE UPON STARTING THE TRUCK AND CRUISING IN LOW SPEED ON 9/19/2015. HAVE IT CHECKED BY TOYOTA DEALER ON 9/22/2015. DIAGNOSED WITH TOTAL RUSTING/ROTTING OF EXHAUST SYSTEM. NEED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE SYSTEM FOR 2000 DOLLARS. ASKED WHY IT WILL RUST AND ROT IN 5 YEARS. NO GOOD ANSWER, JUST SAID "VERY RARE BUT CAN HAPPEN".
SEPTEMBER OF 2014 - TOYOTA SENT OUT A PRELIMINARY RECALL NOTICE - NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000- AND THAT A REMEDY WOULD BE COMING. THE SPRINGS ON MY TACOMA BROKE, BROUGHT IT IN, TOYOTA DEEMED THE TRUCK WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND GAVE ME A RENTAL. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT CAN BE FIXED. TOYOTA HAS BEEN SITTING ON THIS FOR NEARLY A YEAR. AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE PARTS TO FIX IT? I WAS THE SECOND TRUCK THAT WAS BROUGHT IN LAST FRIDAY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

RECALL FOR REAR LEAF SPRING - NHTSA RECALL 14V-604. "REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONTAINS LEAF SPRINGS THAT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF EITHER THREE OR FOUR LEAVES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A LEAF COULD FRACTURE DUE TO STRESS AND CORROSION. IF THIS OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE OPERATED, THE BROKEN LEAF COULD MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND CONTACT SURROUNDING COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK. IF THE BROKEN LEAF CONTACTS THE FUEL TANK REPEATEDLY, IT COULD PUNCTURE THE TANK AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE." WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED ON OUR VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. TOYOTA HAS BEEN CONTACTED BY US NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CONTINUE TO SAY THEY WILL CONTACT THE TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS TO GET THIS RESOLVED. OUR VEHICLE WAS SHIPPED TO GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA IN 2014, BEFORE RECEIVING THIS RECALL, FOR OUR PERSONAL USE THERE. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN THE GAMBIA, CFAO, TOLD US THAT IF TOYOTA WOULD SHIP THE PART TO THEM, THEY WOULD INSTALL IT IN OUR VEHICLE. TOYOTA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS AND THEY CONTINUE TO SAY THEY WILL FORWARD THE REQUEST TO THEIR HEADQUARTERS (IN JAPAN?), BUT WE HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE TO THESE REQUESTS AND, THEREFORE, THE STATUS OF OUR VEHICLE IS STILL RECALL INCOMPLETE. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL LETTERS RECEIVED, IT SAYS THAT ANY AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER WILL INSPECT, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS AT NO CHARGE TO US. WE WANT THIS PART TO BE SHIPPED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN THE GAMBIA, WEST AFRICA: CFAO TOYOTA, MAMADI MANIYANG HWY, KANIFING, GAMBIA. RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR THE REAR LEAF SPRING ON 12/1/2014. IT STATES THE LEAF SPRINGS CAN RUST, FAIL AND ACCIDENTALLY PUNCTURE THE GAS TANK CAUSING A FIRE. THEY HAVE YET TO PRODUCE A REMEDY AND CONTINUE TO STALL INSTEAD OF TAKING ACTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS COULD ULTIMATELY BE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION AND TOYOTA CONTINUES TO DELAY.
