THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL DATED 9/29/14 FOR DEFECTIVE LEAF SPRINGS. IT IS NOW 2/27/15 AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT AN INITIOAL NOTICE AND NO ESTIMATE OF REPAIR DATE. I HAVE COMUNINCATED WITH TOYOTA THROUGH THIER CHANNELS AND RECEIVED NO NEW OR UPDATED INFORMATION. I HAVE HAD A TRIP PLANNED FOR SOME TIME THAT INVOLVES USING THE TRUCK AND TOWING A BOAT THAT A FEEL I MAY NEED TO CANCEL DUE TO SAFETY CONERNS AND FIND IT TO BE UNREASONABLE THAT IT IS TAKING THIS LONG FOR A SOLUTION. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THERE WILL HAVE TO BE SOMEONE INJURED OR WORSE BEFORE THIS GETS ATTENTION. *TR

DRIVERS SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD OR HAD ANYTHING HEAVIER THAN 200 POUNDS PUT IN THE BED. I BOUGHT IT USED IN MARCH 2010 WITH 622 MILES. GARAGE THAT DID THE REPAIR SAID IT WAS THE RESULT OF BAD METAL/IMPROPER CASTING. *TR

WERE PULLING OUT AND SMELL OF GAS FILLED UP THE CAB, JERKING OCCURRED. EXPERIENCES OF INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION HAD BEEN OCCURRING FOR A VERY LONG TIME AS BEEN MADE AWARE OF RECENTLY. SMELL OF GAS HAS BEEN OVERWHELMING. VEHICLE NOW PARKED OUTSIDE AND WILL NOT DRIVE UNTIL IT CAN BE FIXED OR REPLACED, HAVE BEEN WARNED OF POTENTIAL AIR BAG FAILURE IN JAPANESE PLANTS FOUND LAST WEEK IN THIS MODEL. THIS VEHICLE IS THE ONLY CAR WE HAVE, PAID ON IT FOR A VERY LONG TIME. I HAVE PAID A LOT OF MONEY TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO KEEP SERVICE UP TO DATE, THEY HAVE BEEN DIFFICULT WITH ME EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT. I JUST HAD THE SERVICES DONE, AND HAD TO PAY FOR THEM, AND EVEN THOUGH I THOUGHT THEY WERE DOING A GOOD JOB, MY BATTERY DIED AND I PULLED THE HOOD OPEN AND THERE WAS CORROSION EVERYWHERE ON BATTERY AND UNDER THE HOOD, I AM GOING TO LOOK UNDER THE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN IN THE MORNING AFTER LOOKING AT THIS NEW RECALL AND I WILL REPORT TO TOYOTA FINANCIAL SERVICES IN THE MORNING. AT THIS POINT I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I HAVE PURCHASED MY LAST THREE TOYOTAS THERE AND I WILL NOT GO BACK THERE EVERY AGAIN, IN FACT AFTER THESE PAST THREE YEARS OF CONTINUAL RECALLS AND SAFETY HAZARDS, AS WELL AS THEM NOT BEING FIXED CORRECTLY OR NOT BEING REIMBURSED FOR MY TIME OR EXPENSES BEING LOST FROM THIS VEHICLE NOT BEING REPAIRED CORRECTLY WHEN MINE AND MY CHILDREN'S LIVES ARE AT STAKE AND MY CLIENT'S THAT I SEE IN CLINICAL THERAPY, I WILL NEVER CONSIDER PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THE TOYOTA COOPERATION EVERY AGAIN. *TR

I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT THANK GOODNESS WHEN THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN FELL IN MY LAP. I HAVE PICTURES OF WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE WHEN I GOT OUT AND HAD IT TOWED. TOYOTA SAID THEY WERE NOT AT FAULT IT WAS FROM A FENDER BENDER IN NOVEMBER.... AND WHEN MY INSURANCE COMPANY WENT TO LOOK AT IT THEY SAID IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. HOW MANY STEERING COLUMNS COME OUT DRIVING WITH NO ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT THE POSTED LIMIT, THE VEHICLE SET SPEED WOULD SAG BY 2 MPH AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL AS THE ROAD LEVELED OUT, THEN IT WOULD START UP THE NEXT HILL WITH A 2 MPH DEFICIT. AS T PROCEEDED UP THE HILL,IT WOULD DOWNSHIFT TO MAINTAIN SPEED, THEN DOWNSHIFT AGAIN TO 3RD GEAR AND ACCELERATE OVER THE TOP OF THE HILL IN 3RD GEAR UNTIL IT WOULD OVERSPEED, EXCEEDING THE SET SPEED BY 3 MPH AS IT WENT OVER THE TOP OF THE HILL. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE CLOSER TO THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF IT THAT WERE MAINTAINING THEIR SET SPEED. I BELIEVE THIS IS CAUSED BY THE SLOW THROTTLE RESPONSE OF THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM. THE SLOW RESPONSE CAUSES THE SYSTEM TO MISS ITS ASSIGNED SPEED, THEN IT OVERCOMPENSATES TO "MAKE UP FOR IT". I BELIEVE THIS IS UNSAFE AS IT CREATES A SPEED DIFFERENTIAL IN A PLATOON OF VEHICLES THAT HERETOFORE HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING A SET SPEED IN CONCERT. *TR
MAY 2014. MIDDLE LEAF SPRING (OF A TOTAL OF 3 LEAF SPRINGS) ON LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE CRACKED. TOYOTA CHARGED $275 TO REPAIR IT. NOVEMBER 2014. TOYOTA ISSUES A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR POSSIBLE LEAF SPRING FRACTURE. THEY DO NOT ISSUE A REMEDY AND DO NOT OFFER TO REPLACE ANY LEAF SPRINGS. THEY MENTION A SECOND LETTER THAT WILL AUTHORIZE LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT, WHICH AS OF TODAY (27 JULY 2015) HAS NOT YET BEEN ISSUED. JULY 2015. ONE LEAF SPRING ON RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE CRACKS AND IS REMOVED BY TOYOTA DEALER. CUSTOMER IS TOLD TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL REPLACEMENT SPRING ARRIVE WITH ONLY TWO LEAF SPRINGS ON RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE. 27 JULY 2015. LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE WITH A HEAVIER CONSTRUCTION 4-LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT TOYOTA ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN NOVEMBER 2014 AND 9 MONTHS LATER THEY DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION. THEY HAVE REPLACED MY LEAF SPRINGS ONLY BECAUSE THEY BROKE. I DO NOT THINK THAT TOYOTA TAKES THE OBLIGATIONS OF VEHICLE SAFETY SERIOUSLY. THEY ARE NEGLIGENT IN ALLOWING PEOPLE TO DRIVE AROUND IN VEHICLES WITH UNDERRATED LEAF SPRINGS. THEY ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE AROUND WITH ONE FEWER LEAF SPRING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. AND THEY HAVE NOT TO DATE REIMBURSED ME FOR MY FIRST LEAF SPRING REPAIR (TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS ME IT MAY TAKE ONE OR TWO YEARS FROM NOW BEFORE I RECEIVE A LETTER ALLOWING ME TO APPLY FOR REIMBURSEMENT). I APPRECIATE YOUR INVESTIGATION OF THIS SITUATION.
AUXILIARY AUDIO JACK IS DESIGNED POORLY CAUSING FAILURE. FRONT TURN SIGNAL BOTH SIDES YELLOW BULB THE CONNECTOR FOR THE BULB AND THE BULB ITSELF BLACKENS AND IS FRAGILE. FAKE FRONT BUMPER COVER IS MISLEADING AND FALSELY GIVES A FEELING OF SAFETY. ACTUAL BUMPER IS QUITE SMALL AND MAY LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF A MODERATE OVERLAP COLLISION. THE ACCIDENT OR COLLISION OCCURRED WITH A MODERATE OVERLAP HITTING LEFT 1/4 OF FRONT BUMPER THE FRONT LEFT FENDER WAS PUSHED INTO THE DOOR CAUSING MORE BODY DAMAGE THAN SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED. *TR
TACOMA WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY WHEN STEERING SHAFT BOUND UP, CAUSING A SUDDEN STEERING LOCKUP THAT MOMENTARILY CAUSED THE TRUCK TO LOSE CONTROL. MY TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED (AND REPLACED FOR ABOUT $550) THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND U JOINTS. THE SHAFT U JOINT IN QUESTION IS REPORTEDLY DIRECTLY EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS WITH NO RUBBER BOOT OR PROPER LUBRICATION, WHICH MAKES THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION LIKELY AND CAUSED THE PREMATURE FAILURE AND UNSAFE CONDITION. I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS AND RESULTING REQUIRED SERVICE. *TT

I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR ABOUT 2.5 MONTHS AGO, I TRYING TO GET HOLD THEM AND THEY WILL NOT RETURN MY CALL. *TR

"TAKATA RECALL" THE YELLOW PART OF THE HEADLIGHT HAS MELTED CRACKING BOTH LENSES INSIDE, WAS TOLD BY THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP/CRBIN, KY THE RECALL WAS OVER AND I WAS TOO LATE TO HAVE BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. SPIRAL CORD DEFECTIVE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG
I FELT VIBRATIONS WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE. I EXITED AND CAME TO A STOP AT THE OFF RAMP INTERSECTION. WHEN CLEAR I BEGAN ACCELERATING ONTO THE HWY WHEN I FELT 3 LOUD KNOCKS AND HEARD LOUD NOISES THEREAFTER LOOSING POWER. I PULLED OVER AND SAW THE FRONT YOKE OF THE DRIVESHAFT BROKE. *TR
AS I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A PARKING SPACE BETWEEN TWO CARS, THE TRUCK STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I APPLIED THE BREAKS, BUT THE CAR WAS FIGHTING AGAINST THE BREAKS. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES AND THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED BUT THE BACK WHEELS WERE SPINNING AT A VERY HIGH RATE CAUSING SQUEALING ON THE PAVEMENT. WHILE "STANDING WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE, I PUT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL - NO CHANGE IN THE ACCELERATION. I PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK, THE WHEELS CONTINUED TO SPIN... I FINALLY TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND THE TRUCK JERKED AND THE ENGINE CUT. THE WHEELS THEN STOPPED. THE ACCELERATION LASTED ABOUT 10 SECONDS. NO ONE WAS HURT. NO DAMAGE TO ANY VEHICLES. BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVER DAMAGES. INCIDENT OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 22ND, 2013. *TR
ON A RECENT INSPECTION OF THE LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL) WERE MELTING BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. THE LIGHT BULB RETAINER IS DISCOLORED INDICATING SIGNS OF A HIGH HEAT. MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRL'S, HOWEVER THEY WERE ONLY REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IF THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. I THEN CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A FIX FOR THE HEADLIGHTS, THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS NO FIX AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE PROBLEM IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. AN INTERNET SEARCH PROVIDED NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS AND PICTURES OF THIS CHRONIC PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TOYOTA TO CORRECT THE HAZARD AND REPAIR THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. AGAIN THE BIGGEST ISSUE HERE IS THAT IF TOYOTA REPLACES THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IT WILL BE WITH THE SAME COMPONENTS THAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. *TR

TO ASSUMING ANY RESPONSIBILITY. TOYOTA REFUSED TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT LENS DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE. ON NOVEMBER 09, 2013, THE TOYOTA REP OFFERED TO REPLACE ONE LAMP ASSEMBLY BUT THE OWNER HAD TO PURCHASE THE SECOND ONE AND ASSUME ALL LABOR COSTS. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN DEFECT. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED DURING WARRANTY OR AT WHAT POINT AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP AS PER OWNER'S MANUAL YET NO TECHNICIAN REPORTED THE BURNT AND CRACKED LENS PROBLEM. I JUST ABOUT WENT SWIMMING OFF THE BOAT RAMP WHEN MY TRUCK REDLINED IN REVERSE.
