I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY TRUCKS AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE TOOK MY TRUCK TO DEALER THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART AND CALL ME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR INSTALLATION I WENT BACK THREE TIMES TO DEALER WITH NO SUCCESS ALSO THE RECALL THEY MADE ON MY TRUCK LAST YEAR THE FRAME RUSTING OUT DID NOT LAST EVERY THING THEY DID FELL OFF THE FRAME OF MY TRUCK IS THIS TRUCK SAFE TO DRIVE
TRUCK HAD FRONT GAS TANK STRAP RUST OUT. WENT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. WAS TOLD REPAIR COULDN'T BE COMPLETED BECAUSE FRAME HAD RUSTED OUT IN THAT AREA. 2014 TOYOTA HAD A RUST CAMPAIGN AND DEALER APPLIED CORROSION RUST COATING. FRAME STILL RUSTED! WAS INFORMED BY DEALER UNSAFE TO DRIVE. RECALLS ON ALL OTHER YEARS EXCEPT 2006. TRUCK SITS IN DRIVEWAY BASICALLY IS A PILE OF SCRAP. CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE RECEIVED CASE #. CASE MANAGER TOLD ME SORRY CANNOT HELP THE RUST COATING WAS A ONE TIME FIX. SO NOW AM STUCK WITH A TRUCK UNSAFE TO DRIVE. !!!!THANKS TOYOTA!!!!
ANTI CORROSION PAINT WAS PUT ON THE FRAME A YEAR AND HALF LATER AND MY TRUCK WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION AND TOYOTA WILL DO NOTHING THEY WANT ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE FRAME RUSTED OUT IN A YEAR AND A HALF AND WAS FINE WHEN THEY PUT THE COATING ON
MY TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS PART OF A TOYOTA 'LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN' REGARDING CORROSION OF THE VEHICLE'S FRAME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION WHICH RESULTED IN THEM CLEANING AND SPRAYING SOMETHING ON THE FRAME ON 5/9/14 WITH 89,820 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TRADE THE VEHICLE IN ON 4/19/17 WITH APPROXIMATELY 109,000 MILES ON IT, IT WAS DETERMINED THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FRAME WHERE THE FRONT STABILIZER ATTACHES TO FRAME. NOT ONLY IS THERE A HOLE IN FRAME BUT THE STABILIZER IS NO LONGER ATTACHED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUES REGARDING CORROSION ON THIS VEHICLE AND EACH PUT MY PERSONAL SAFETY AT RISK. ANOTHER EXAMPLE HAPPENED AROUND SEPTEMBER OF 2015 WITH 94,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I DISCOVERED THE FUEL TANK WAS HANGING DOWN AND ALMOST TOUCHING THE GROUND. TURNED OUT THE MOUNTING STRAPS HAD RUSTED THROUGH. I NOTICED IT AFTER HAVING JUST DRIVEN TO A LOCAL BUSINESS. HAD I NOT NOTICED IT, THE TANK COULD HAVE HIT THE ROAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING CAUGHT FIRE BEFORE I COULD HAVE STOPPED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO RESPONSIBILITY REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO HAD BRAKE LINES RUST THROUGH CAUSING ME TO LOOSE MOST OF MY BRAKING WHEN DRIVING ON A LOCAL STREET AND JUST BARELY BEING ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE TAKING GOOD CARE OF IT INCLUDING WASHING DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. AT WHAT POINT IS TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR INSURING THE VEHICLES REMAIN SAFE THROUGHOUT THEIR NORMAL LIFETIME. A FRAME SHOULD NOT RUST THROUGH WITH ONLY 109,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE HOLES IN THE FRAME. THE REAR END HOUSING WAS REPLACED, BUT THE HOLES IN THE FRAME WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BUCKHANNON TOYOTA (63 BRUSHY FORK RD, BUCKHANNON, WV 26201), BUT DID NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE SINCE NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO RECALLS AND THAT THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO THE CONTACT NOT TAKING THE VEHICLE FOR UNDERCOATING, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO UNDERCOATING RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. UPDATED 09/07/17*LJ *CN
4/12/17 I CALLED TO SCHEDULE REPLACEMENT OF MY RECALLED AIR BAG VIN:6S457928 TOYOTA TUNDRA 2006 MGR. NANCY (TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SOUTH BLVD. CHARLOTTE) REFUSED TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT WITH OUT ME PROVIDING MY PHONE NUMBER. SHE WOULD EVEN LET ME TALK TO HER MGR. TOD GRUB OR LEAVE MESSAGE FOR HIM. SHE WAS PLAIN RUDE SO I ASKED HER TO GIVE ME SOMETHING IN WRITING "REFUSAL TO REPLACE AIR BAG DUE TO CUSTOMER UNWILLINGNESS TO RELEASE PHONE NUMBER" SHE REFUSED THAT TOO. I TRIED TO EDUCATE MGR NANCY THAT ALL YOU NEED AND ALL YOU CAN GET IN THIS SITUATION IS MY TITLE AND MY ID. I HOPE THAT YOU SEE AND ADDRESS THE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT AND RISK THEY KEEP US IN.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR A YEAR TO HAVE THE AIR BAGS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL WITH MAITA TOYOTA AND FOLSOM LAKE TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS IN CALIFORNIA. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE AND THEY PARTS COULD STILL TAKE A YEAR TO COME IN. THIS IS NONSENSE. WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO NOT HAVE THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPLACE A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT IS THEIR FAULT. WHY DO I HAVE TO ASSUME THE RISK OF HAVING MY FACE BLOWN OFF BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. AS USUAL THE CORPORATIONS GET AWAY WITH MURDER WHILE THE INDIVIDUALS PAY THE PRICE. THE DEALERSHIPS NEED TO BE MADE TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT AND GET THESE SAFETY RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, THE BALL JOINT SUSPENSION FRACTURED AND DAMAGED THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 216,374.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. AFTER THE CONTACT CLOSED THE DRIVER'S DOOR, AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST FELL FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION TO THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED BECAUSE THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT IT MAY NOT PASS. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THE SUBFRAME CORROSION; HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY PERIOD HAD EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
THIS STARTED 1/7/2017 COMING HOME FROM WORK BACK GRAVEL ROAD HEATER WOULD NOT WORK NOTICED HEAT GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY UP THEN CAME DOWN TO NORMAL WORKED OK FOR A WHILE DID IT AGAIN. DRIVE HOME APPROX. 10 MILES DID NOT GET HOT BUT TEMPERATURE GAUGE REGISTERED HOT SLOWLY DROVE HOME PUT WATER IN AFTER COOLED OFF. HAD TO LEAVE AT HOME TILL I MADE APPOINTMENT TO BRING IN. DID NOT BRING TO DEALER WHICH IS 40 MILES AWAY DROVE 8 MILES SLOWLY TO MECHANIC. HE REPLACED RADIATOR, FILLED WITH NEW COOLANT MILEAGE 91003. DID NOT MESS UP UNTIL 2/27/2017 SAME ROAD REGISTERED HOT DROVE HOME SHUT OFF ADDED WATER, HAD TO SIT FOR A FEW DAYS TILL OPENING FOR APPOINTMENT. HE DID NOT FIX HE CHECKED OUT FOUND 2 LEAKS ONE DEALING WITH TRANSMISSION AND THE OTHER DEALING WITH STEERING OR BALL JOINTS. HE IS CONCERNED BECAUSE IT RAN OUT OF FLUID EVEN THOU I FILLED UP ASAP. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS IS WHAT HE SAYS POSSIBLE HEAD GASKET LEAK NEAR STEERING RACK. AND BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION POSSIBLE FRONT SEAL. ALSO I WILL BE CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW IN OLATHE, KANSAS.
GAS TANK REAR STRAP IS BROKE AND GAS TANK IS HANGING DOWN. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER SEEN A MICHIGAN WINTER I'M IN FLORIDA FOR THE WINTERS AND THE TRUCK IS IN NEAR SHOWROOM CONDITION.I DON'T KNOW STEEL WAS PRODUCED FOR THE STRAPS BUT IT IS DANGEROUS,ESPECIALLY FOR USE IN SECURING THE GAS TANK ,THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN STAINLESS STEEL.THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ,I HAVE FOUND OUT THEY WERE REPLACED IF YOUR FRAME WAS REPLACED SO WHY NOT JUST REPLACE THE STRAPS IF NEED BE.
I PURCHASED TRUCK USED JUNE 2016..SOMEBODY INFORMED ME LATER THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RUST ISSUE WITH THE FRAMES ON THESE MODELS. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION IT LOOKS LIKE AT SOME POINT SOMEBODY TRIED TO COVER UP WITH UNDER SPRAY. THAT HAS NOT HELD BECAUSE A GOOD PORTION OF FRAME AND CROSS MEMBER HAS RUSTED AWAY. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY GAVE ME TWO CASE NUMBERS AND SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND RECALL EXPIRED. I ASKED DEALERSHIP TO INSPECT FOR RUST IN JANUARY OF 2017 AND THEY SAID IT WAS TOYOTA ISSUE AND TO WAIT. I THINK IT COULD BE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE IF TRYING TO PULL TRAILER AND POSSIBLE ANY OTHER TIME..SAFETY ISSUES SHOULD NOT HAVE EXPIRATION IN MY OPINION. NOT GOOD FEEDBACK SINCE JANUARY.
I Was not notified That there was a recall for the frame rusting. My frame is rusted out and now I’m told that the recall has expired. This is unacceptable and poses a threat to the lives of Me, my family and all Toyota drivers everywhere.

2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA TRUCK BED STARTED RUSTING SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE RUSTED FRAME BUT NOT THE BED. SURROUNDING METAL AREA SURROUNDING ALL SCREWS THAT HOLD BED ONTO FRAME COMPLETELY RUSTED. GOLF BALL SIZE HOLES IN BED AS WELL. RUSTING RAPIDLY. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE, THE RESPONSE WAS, "IF WE FIX IT FOR YOU, WE HAVE TO FIX IT FOR EVERYONE." I DO NOT HAVE THE MONIES TO REPAIR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. SPENT TOO MUCH ON THIS VEHICLE. INSIDE BED LOOKS LIKE THE CURRENT PICTURES OF THETITANIC. I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSS. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS) IN JUNE OF 2015 AND 07V013000 (SUSPENSION) IN JANUARY OF 2007. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BALL JOINT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
UINIVERSAL JOINTS
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALER (LIBERTY TOYOTA) FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS FOR ECU PASSENGER AIRBAG ISSUES. TO DATE, TOYOTA CORPORATE ENGINEERS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. MY SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED IN TWO OTHER STATES IN THE COUNTRY. I ELEVATED THE PROBLEM TODAY TO TOYOTA CORPORATION AND THEY HAVE ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER TO IT.
SECONDARY AIR INJECTOR PUMP FAILED. HEAR LOUD VACUUM CLEANER NOISE FROM PUMP WHEN STARTING COLD ENGINE, LASTS FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 67,400 MILES ON IT. THERE IS A RECALL FOR LATER MODELS, NOT 2006'S. $2000 REPAIR.
I RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE SOME BODY WORK DONE ON MY 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE BODY SHOP OWNER SAID THAT HE SAW THE FRAME WAS EXTREMELY RUSTY AND IN HIS OPINION WAS A SAFETY HAZARD. HE SAID HE REMEMBERED THAT TOYOTA HAD A RECALL FOR RUSTY FRAMES PREVIOUSLY BUT HE DID NOT REMEMBER WHAT YEARS AND MODELS WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HE SUGGESTED I CONTACT TOYOTA. I DID CONTACT TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT THAT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED IN JULY OF 2015. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2006 AND HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF THE TRUCK. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL AND HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCKS. AFTER SPEAKING ON THE PHONE WITH A TOYOTA REPNAD BEING TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR MY TRUCK I SENT AN EMAIL TO THEIR HEADQUARTERS AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY STOOD BEHIND THEIR ORIGINAL RESPONSE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A SAFETY RECALL CAN EXPIRE. THE SAFETY PROBLEM WILL ALWAYS BE THERE UNTIL FIXED. I FEEL I AM NOW DRIVING A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD STAND BY WHATEVER THE ORIGINAL REMEDY WAS. *TR

I HAVE EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING OF MY VEHICLE FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. STEERING REQUIRES AN INCREASED EFFORT ON MY PART. ALSO, THERE IS A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN I AM DRIVING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I NOTICED PIECES OF RUST FALLING UNDER THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE FRAME WHERE THE MOTOR SETS AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS I NOTICED SEVERE RUSTING. THE FRONT BRAKE LINES APPEAR AFFECTED ALSO. SOME BOLTS ARE RUSTED THROUGH AND OTHERS APPEAR TO BE CLOSE TO RUSTING THROUGH.
IN 2014 RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY FRAME I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP CLASSIC TOYOTA OF MENTOR OHIO THEY SAID FRAME NEEDED REPLACED SCHEDULED THEM TO DO ALL WORK THEY SAID IT MAY BE A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE FRAMES IN SO I SAID OKAY AND WAITED A FEW MONTHS HADN'T HEARD FROM THEM CALL THEM ASK THEM IF IT CAME IN THEY SAID NO I ASKED THEM IF THERE WAS ANYWAY TO CHECK ON IT THEY SAID NO BUT THE WAIT IS NORMAL AND THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT GETS THERE SO I WAITED A COUPLE MORE MONTHS CALLED THEM AGAIN AND THE SAME THING SO I WAITED A COUPLE MORE MONTHS CALL THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN SAME THING SO IN FEBRUARY 2016 I CALLED THEM UP GOT THE SAME RESPONSE BY THIS TIME IT HAD BEEN OVER A YEAR SO I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS IN CALIFORNIA AND ASK THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND IT TURNED OUT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER ORDERED THE FRAME I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE TWO AND THEY ARE BOTH REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING EVEN THOUGH NOW THERE IS A LARGE RUST HOLE THROUGH THE FRAME AND COMPONENTS ARE RUSTING OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND EMITTED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I SCHEDULED A REPAIR AT DAVE EDWARDS TOYOTA. WAS TOLD TO COME IN AT 10AM, AND I COULD PICK UP THE VEHICLE AT 12 NOON. IT IS A 60 MINUTE DRIVE BOTH WAYS, AND I HAD MY WIFE PICK ME UP AND WHEN I RETURNED AT 12 NOON, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED, AND WAS NOT GIVEN AN EXPLANATION WHY. THE VEHICLE STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.
MY TRUCK HAS A RECALL ON THE AIR BAG, THE RECALL STATED DO NOT HAVE ANYONE IN THE FRONT SEAT. I HAVE HANDICAP PEOPLE WHO CANNOT GET IN THE BACK SEAT. IF SOMEONE HITS ME MY PASSENGER CAN BE INJURED OR KILLED. I CALLED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPLACEMENT AND IT IS UP TO 4 MONTHS OUT. UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR TILL THE AIR BAG CAN BE REPLACED.

TAKATA RECALL-WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA A MONTH AGO STATING THAT "TOYOTA HAS COMPLETED PARTS PREPARATION FOR VEHICLES IN YOUR GEOGRAPHIC AREA". I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER OF THE PART AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE 3-4 MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. UNTIL THEN , NO ONE IS TO DRIVE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE TRUCK WHICH MAKES THE VEHICLE VIRTUALLY UNUSABLE. THE RECALL HAS BEEN IN EFFECT FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND NOW WE ARE BEING TOLD IT WLL BE ANOTHER 1/3 OF A YEAR BEFORE IT IS ADDRESSED.
TAKATA INFLATORS TOYOTA NOTIFIED ME THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE IN MY GEOGRAPHIC AREA IN FEBRUARY 2016. WHEN I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2016. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE TIME FRAME TO REPAIR A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. ARE THERE ANY OTHER REMEDIES?
A VERY DISTURBING VIBRATION COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK DURING ACCELERATION BETWEEN 30 TO 40 THEN AGAIN FROM 60 TO 70. THE WHOLE TRUCK SHAKES !!! I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER BUT OF COURSE EVERYTHING IS OK BY THEM. NO WHERE TO TURN .
IT STARTED WITH MY GAS TANK FALLING OFF THE FRAME. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AT THE TIME THE GAS TANK BAND BROKE THAT HOLDS THE GAS TANK TO THE FRAME. I THEN FOUND A HOLE IN THE FRAME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, JUST IN FRONT OF THE SWAY BAR MOUNT, LARGE ENOUGH TO PLACE MY HAND IN TO THE CENTER OF MY PALM. OBVIOUSLY, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I THEN CONTACTED MY DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, DOWN EAST TOYOTA OF BREWER, ME. THE LADY I SPOKE WITH (LYNN), FROM DOWN EAST TOYOTA OF BREWER, MAINE, WAS CONDESCENDING AND ARROGANT ELUDING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS SOMEHOW MY FAULT. I LEARNED FROM HER THAT APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL FOR RUSTED FRAMES. I DO NOT RECALL GETTING THIS RECALL INFORMATION. BUT LET THAT GO, MY DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM (DOWN EAST TOYOTA IN BREWER, MAINE) HAS TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD FEEL FORTUNATE THAT I GOT 10 YEARS FROM THE TRUCK. SINCE THIS IS AS LONG AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST ANYWAYS. MY DEALER (DOWN EAST TOYOTA OF BREWER, MAINE) TOLD ME MY OPTION WAS THAT THEY HAVE A PERSON THAT BUYS USED VEHICLES AND I COULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM TO SEE WHAT THE JUNK BUYER WOULD GIVE ME FOR MY TRUCK. OR, I COULD PAY TO HAVE THE FRAME REPLACED. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THIS KIND OF ISSUE, AND THE SAFETY ISSUES RAISED WITH A DAMAGED FRAME, I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATION THROUGH REGISTERED MAIL OF THE ISSUE. OR AT LEAST, A FOLLOW UP LETTER TO INSURE THE FIRST NOTICE WAS RECEIVED. AS I SAID, I DO NOT REMEMBER GETTING SUCH NOTIFICATION. I HAVE WRITTEN TO TOYOTA AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK AS OF YET.
TAKATA RECALL STILL WAITING TO BE ABLE TO USE THIS VEHICLE SAFELY. UNACCEPTABLE WAITING TIME! WAS TOLD TODAY THAT "THEY SEND THEM AT WILL" AND "IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A LENGTHY WAITING TIME BUT YOU ARE WELCOME TO CHECK BACK PERIODICALLY"!!! THIS AN URGENT SAFETY RECALL AND HAS RESULTED IN DEATHS!
ON 10/02/14 THE ORIGNAL BATTERY IN THE TRUCK FAILED. IT WAS REPLACED WITH AN INTERSTATE BATTERY,#MTP24. THIS BATTERY FAILED AND WAS AGAIN REPLACED WITH ANOTHER INTERSTATE BATTERY ON 10/8/15 AT NO CHARGE. THIS BATTERY FAILED AND WAS REPLACED AGAIN TODAY, 4/18/16. GREG LEBLANC TOYOTA @ 220 S. JUST BOUGHT MY TUNDRA LOW MILES NICE TRUCK I JUST FOUND A HOLE 1 INCH BY 6 INCH ON MY FRAME BY THE ENGINE MOUNT ON THE RIGHT FRONT
I OWN A 2006 DBL CAB TUNDRA IN WI. BACK IN 2013 I WAS DRIVING ONE AND AND SOMEONE WAS HONKING AT ME FROM BEHIND. SO I PULLED OVER. THEY TOLD ME MY GAS TANK WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF. SURE THING I WENT UNDER IT AND THE GAS TANK STRAP WAS RUST AND ONLY 1 OF THEM WAS HOLDING IT UP. I DIDNT SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRAME RUST. SO I TOOK IT IN FOR A INSPECTION. THE DEALER TOLD MY THAT IT DIDNT QUALIFY FOR A REPLACEMENT BUT THEY THEY CAN DO A UNDEBODY COAT AND THEY REPLACED THE TANK STRAP TOO. SO 1 YRS FLEW BY AND NOW MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR LOWER STRUT BRACKET BROKE OFF. IT WAS JUST HANGING THERE. THIS TRUCK IS FALLING APART. A FEW MONTHER LATER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I WAS GOING ABOUT 35 MPH AND THER BOOM! I HEARD SOMETHING LOUD. I THER BRAKING BUT NO BRAKES! I ALMOST GOOD HIT TWICE RUNNING A RED LIGHT. SCRAIEST DAY OF MY LIFE. I ALMOST DOE THAT DAY. I FINALLY ROLLED TO A STOP. I CHECK THE BACK AND SURE ENOUGH THE DRIVER SIDE TOP STRUT BRACKET BROKE OFF TAKING OUT THE BRAKE DISTRIBUTOR IN THE REAR AND ALSO CUTIING THROUGH SOME ELETRICAL WIRES. IN THE MEANTIME, WE ARE TOLD NO ONE SHOULD RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS DOES NOT SEEM LIKE A TIMELY REMEDY TO A DANGEROUS DEFECT.

WE bought this truck in 2016. From Mitchell Selig Ford in Windsor CT. Apparently their was a rust recall in 2015. The dealer did not get this fixed and as a result our truck is completely rusted and unrepairable. We were not aware at all this was a recall as it happened prior to us buying the truck. What can I do about this ? Their is really "no incident" to report. I need to know what Toyota will do about this issue.
