My Tundra has been having lagged throttle after takeoff for a few months now going into 2026. My truck is slightly over 50k Miles and did well for the first 40k Miles. Last week it went limp and gave a loss of Power Warning and Check engine light came on. Then the very next day a parking brake assist warning came on. I brought it to the dealer and after 4 days they couldn't replicate the warning light but seen that the Turbo had failure. They said they could not change the Turbo since theres an active Engine recall on my truck. My truck is sitting at the dealer with no committed date or fix for when my engine will be replaced. Not sure what to even do as im paying on a truck i cant even drive. Aside from this major issue ive had two window motors replaced and a non working hamstring leg rest motor. They instead offered to sell me a new 2026 which felt sleazy on their part. I will not be staying with my 2023 Tundra if and when i get it back knowing we only get a 1 year warranty and crate engines are already failing. Toyota is treating their faithful clients horribly on this issue they caused. Id go as far as saying this should be part of the Lemon Law act and more needs to be done.
The truck “detected” a warning collision when there was no one in front of me which made the engine lag. There for causing me to come to an abrupt stop from 40 mph. I stepped on the gas to get back up to speed with traffic beside and behind me and there was no power almost causing an accident. This is the 3rd time this truck has done this in 6 months.
Toyota requires the ABS system to be recalibrated. The only way is by going to a Toyota dealership and having the technicians use the fancy expensive diagnostic tools and computer software. I got my brakes changed by a reputable shop. However, I did not know whether they knew this or not. Now my front passenger pad is always rubbing on the rotor. These issues may cause high fuel consumption, strain on the transmission and driveline components, and even the possibility of fire. It would be really helpful if Toyota built vehicles that can easily be maintained as well as less complicated systems requiring owners to pay dealership prices for maintenance that should allow the owner to address it or any mechanic shops.
We recently had an engine failure in our 2023 Toyota Tundra ([XXX]). Then on [XXX] the truck caught fire while we were driving in Arkansas. The fire caused the brakes to fail completely, and we wound up jumping from the still moving truck. The truck and contents were a total loss. Since then, Toyota has completed their investigation and stated they are unable to determine the cause of the fire INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The engine has 13,441 miles on it and it has been consuming 4 quarts of oil in 1700 miles. The dealer sealed the engine and is performing an oil consumption test. Approximately 500 mile into the test the check engine light started flashing due to a misfire. The dealer found that the #1plug was fouled out and had to be replaced. At 1029 miles into the test the truck was idling in a parking lot for about 8 minutes when it started to misfire and stumble. After stepping on the throttle to clear out the misfire, the dash lit flashing multiple warnings including the breaking system was stuck on hindering the truck from being able to move. After several restarts and playing with the parking brake I managed to get the parking brake off. It still had the flashing check engine light on and flashing. The pre-collision light was flashing, along with the traction control light was flashing and none of the safety systems were working.
There are many incidents, issues, and critical safety problems with my vehicle. I have had multiple repair attempts, with multiple Toyota Car Dealerships, and have continued to have the same amount of problems, and issues with this vehicle. Multiple leaks of fuel, smells of gas and burning, odometer reads brakes failing, and danger lights, Transmission shifting issues, Engine knocking while driving and at a complete stop, Brake issues, By the grace of God my family and I have not been in an accident yet. I have taken my car in for repairs multiple times and to this day my vehicle is still being repaired at the dealership as we speak. My vehicle has cumulatively been at the dealership for almost 3 months. My family and I are under an assortment of insurmountable mental, and physical stress with the level of unsafe, unfit, and unreliable attempts to not only trust this vehicle to operate safely, but trust the service technicians to safely, and correctly diagnose the many unsafe issues with this vehicle. I have made several attempts in filing cases, complaints, and attempts of contact, to resolve these multiple issues with the manufacturer, and have had no such luck. Please, for the safety and daily life continuity of my family. Please help me resolve these issues with the manufacturer. My family, and I do not feel safe and do not feel like our issues are being acknowledged or resolved. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done so that my family can safely, and cordially operate a functioning vehicle. Thanks and God Bless. We have had this vehicle about a year and a half, 2023 Toyota Tundra and have had to take it back and forth to McLarty Toyota for recall work. Concerning this particular recall, 24ta07-Engine may stall during driving, we were told is unfixable. If this vehicle cannot be fixed, we are demanding it be replaced with a reliable truck
When proceeding ahead from a stop with no one in front of me, after traveling ahead at a normal pace, the emergency braking system activated and the truck came to an abrupt stop. This occurred after traveling about 5 feet and luckily the person behind me did not rear end me. After this panic stop the truck then proceeded ahead as normal. This is the first time this has happened to me since purchased new. Currently has 3870 miles.
The breaks making loud noise I took in the Livermore Toyota located at 6200 Northfront Rd. Livermore CA 94551 they service two times the third time I told them change the break pad and service rotor. the next day the noise started again. I took it to wheels work they told me some thing is wrong with break we cannot do anything. I took it to Midas break service they said same thing I have to report to NHTSA.
There has been a known issue and recall on this vehicle since August with both personal and public life threatening events. Official notifications are just being shared from Toyota with no sight line provided for permanent fix. This causes significant cause for concern and angst in daily driving of the vehicle. If a fix isn’t available, a complete vehicle recall and exchange should be provided as resolution. These are serious life threatening circumstances that could impact myself, my family or innocent bystander. I feel unsafe and hold Toyota and National highway traffic and safety directly liable. The enforcement and the assumed liability by Toyota of delivering a safe vehicle should be upheld.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: (PENDING); Manufacturer Recall Number: 23TB09 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Open recall on this Truck, dealer claims no parts available so unable to fix, I am afraid to drive this truck it should be considered a lemon for this fact alone ,bought this truck in April2023 recalled in Aug of 2023 and still not fixed,3000 miles on truck
Above stated recall has not been fixed, recall notice came out in August and is still an issue,Toyota dealer of Daytona Florida
The car auto adaptive cruise control does not use the transmission for downhill breaking. It just rides the brakes coming down now. The car started shaking from overheating the brakes and I said realizing that it just not working in tune with the transmission. This is very dangerous. I have to turn off the cruise control and he manually downshift so break system of start working again. It was shaking so violently wouldn't stop.
My brakes have been squeaking since I purchased this brand new vehicle. It wasn’t too bad in the beginning, It was safe to assume, being new truck that I needed to drive it more or so I was told, by a friend. Then, after the first oil change, I started to realize that either my brakes were going bad, and/or it just didn’t feel too safe, especially driving through rainy conditions. So by the time my next few oil change with dealerships, I complained and wanted brakes checked. I was never told they are fine other than they were inspected on paperwork, so that was reassuring until, it started up again. Fast forward to recalls being done and again, I complained about brakes, and a Toyota consultant told me that was a common complaint and all he could do was clean up build up or dirt, and possibly may do the trick. Which was nice, and it helped for maybe a day or two and then started back up! I have no choice other than to trade it, although aside from that brake issue, I want to keep this truck! I feel this issue is dangerous and why hasn’t there been some type of solution from Toyota? Is it going to take for drivers and family to be killed in accidents for something to be done? This is aside from being annoying and embarrassing when pulling up in a brand new truck and these brakes squeezing so loudly - and also, and most importantly the safety of my family and self while in this truck! I love the truck and every other vehicle I have bought through Toyota, but this safety issue has forced me after no answers from Toyota to write this complaint in hopes something can be done soon. Please keep me updated.
North Park Toyota knowingly sold me a 2023 Toyota Tundra with defective brakes and defective air conditioning. The brakes screach randomly, startling me as a driver and othwr drivers on the road. This causes me to react in an unsafe way, misapplying the brakes or not even applying the brakes at all when I hear the screaching sounds. Sometimes the vehicle brakes hard, sometimes not at all, and sometimes the vehicle feels as if the brakes are always on. It is very frightening. The dealership lied and said the brakes were still new at 18,000 miles. Then they said it was a "known issue" that they couldn't fix. They sold me a lemon and they knew it from the very beginning. I want my 2018 Tundra back that I traded in. They can buy this defective lemon back from me or I will sue Toyota and the individuals involved in selling this lemon to me. The brakes are defective 100 percent of the time I drive it, and it's worse when the weather changes. This truck ia dangerous and they knew it when they tricked me into buying it. I have complained to the dealership numerous times. They have no intention of addressing this problem whatsoever. I was conned into buying a vehicle they knew was a lemon.
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that since purchasing the vehicle, new, they noticed that when applying the brake pedal there would be a loud squeaking sound emitting from the vehicle. The failure was most prominent after the initial startup and when driving during rainy weather conditions. The contact stated the noise had increased in volume over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed them of the part being recalled under warranty coverage and that the replacement would be covered. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the dealer not receiving the brake replacement parts. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 4.
- For the brakes, one month after the purchase date (November 2022), the brakes make a loud screech and to this date (17 May 2024), they still screech. I have took it into the dealer to report it and they still don't have a remedy. - My engine had something internally brake on Easter Sunday 2024. When I first took it to the dealer on Monday, it took a day or two and they found nothing wrong. I picked it up and noticed a loud tapping noise coming from the engine, I took it back to the dealer, the technician opened up the motor and found metal shavings all over the inside of the motor. I had it replaced within a month and a half later, wow, brand new and this is what happened.
